how do you decorate your sketchbook? do you plan the whole page layout out before sticking stickers (or etc) or?? they look so pretty
No I don't really plan anything. Not the whole page at least.
My thought process is kinda like this:
1. Preparation !
I start by drawing whatever I want on a piece of paper, either a page of my sketchbook or a piece of colored paper I have laying around.
The key is to never draw directly on your sketchbook so that you can position it however you want on the page and even glue things under it.
Then I usually figure out a theme based on the drawing (like "my oc", "TF2", "jojo" or even "character in dresses" etc..)
And a color scheme, one main color and one or two secondaries. (If I drew on colored paper already this will most likely be the main color I choose)
This is just to give a bit of coherence wich ultimately helps.
Then I try drawing other things that would fit the theme or the vibe.
When I have a few drawings (at least two) I can start arranging the page.
2 Getting stared on the page !
From then I do pretty much anything I think will look good.
I can glue colored paper on the whole page or just pieces in the corners. Then I can glue the drawings I have on top.
I can put stickers underneath them as well.
I still try to think about what other drawing I could add to finish the page, mainly the size and the color I will use.
3 Finishing the page !
Once I glued the first few drawings and figured out what I want for the rest of the page, I draw the last few drawings, and I glue them like I did the first few.
I see if I can add stuff underneath or even put tape on the edges to make it seem like I tapped them like in a scrapbook ! A lot of this is inspired by scrapbooking.
Now that everything is glued I can start decorating and filling any blank spots on the page.
Either by putting stickers, little notes, drawing doodles, putting the date, my signature, what music I'm listening to, etc... (I usually try to put stickers in groups)
You can even print images and photographs and whatnot.
ORRR you can also rectify parts of your drawings you don't like by gluing paper on top and re drawing that part. If you use different color paper it can help the page look busy.
Honestly it's mainly about the vibe and the business.
4? Material
I have a lot of cheap colored paper, of those little booklet with paper with motifs on them I found at the dollar store.
I'm kinda collecting cheap sticker sheets so I can have a wide variety of things and colors I can stick next to my drawings.
You could also buy stickers packs of the internet or from creators if you want more specific stickers.
I've always love how scrapbooks looked, so that a great inspo for me.

I'm not friend of CD-s, my childhood was full of LPs and tapes. But used CDs are very cheap and when I find somthing that I haven't got in LP yet and I'm not planning to for some reason, I'm happy with them. I already bought 2 maxi CDs (scroll down) from 1998 and 2009 (my karaoke songs), LPs weren't popular that years.
The Singles 1981→1985 original CD from '85, Made in France - which is precious for me, my sister's original Violator LP that we listened to many times is Virgin edition with French stickers on the cover. I have French DM books, I'll post soon. I have the US version LP (Catching Up With) and I'm going to buy the European LP yet in this year if I got an offer.
In the booklet there are all singles' cover, I miss just a few:
It's No Good, 1997, Made in Great Britain - of course it's original. I love this song, I think this is enough to buy a cheap CD with a sexy booklet and post card (!):
People Are People, 1984, Printed in U.S.A. - I didn't know this collection album (missing CD cover, here you are), it released in North and South America before Some Great Reward, after the single which made DM famous in the US.
So this 5 CDs are enough for now, but I miss some vinyls - 12 singles and 5 albums, I'm not finished yet...

Book Binding Post
The video above is me walking you through the first bookbinding I did. Since a few people mentioned an interest in the initial cost of bookbinding fanfic, I made a list of what I used to start out. You can find most/all of these things on Amazon. If you'd rather not support Amazon, then Hollander's is a great place to find your necessities. You can also find most of this stuff at any local crafting store. As I am in the US, all prices are in USD.
Printer - It doesn't need to be fancy. Unless you're including fanart, a black-and-white one will do. I'm pretty sure you can get a basic printer for less than $100.
Microsoft Word - I wanted to use Macros built for Word, and those don't work with other text editors like Open Office or Google Docs. Macros are little programs that will do repetitive tasks to format the raw text so it can be converted into a book. If you don't have it, you can pay for a subscription for about $7 per month.
Paper - You could use cheap copy paper, but I bought 24 lb cotton linen paper. 500 sheets were about $25. You'll have 4 pages of your book printed on one sheet (two on the front, two on the back), so a 200,000-word fic that is nearly 500 pages will use about 125 sheets.
Bone Folder - This is just a tool used to neatly crease your signatures. Signatures are sets of 5-10 pages that fold into a booklet and then are sewn together. I was very weirded out by the idea of having an actual bone tool (vegetarian, here) so I found a folder that was plastic. You may have something suitable around your house that would serve this purpose if you don't want to buy one. You don't want to use anything that will scratch/tear your pages, though. Cost is about $5.
Awl and Punch Cradle - An awl is a bit like an ice pick. It is used to punch holes into the creases of your signatures so you can sew them together. These holes need to be evenly spaced, and I do 8 total along the spine. To make this easier for myself, I also bought a punch cradle. This is a little plastic tool your unfolded signature sits in while you lay a guide along the crease and punch through the guide with the awl. My punch cradle came with the awl, thread, and needle. All of it was about $25.
Waxed Linen Thread - If you can't find waxed, then you can get a small cube of beeswax and run your thread along it before you begin sewing. Cost is about $5.
Needle - I prefer a large curved metal needle. Sometimes these will come with a punch cradle or thread. If not, they are fairly inexpensive--maybe a dollar or two.
PVA Adhesive with Applicator - This is the glue you'll need to secure the spine and connect the text block (all the signatures sewn together) with the cover. You want to use something suitable for bookbinding that has a neutral pH. You should also get a brush or silicone applicator. Cost is about $15 for the glue and applicator.
Mull (bookbinding cloth) - This is like a rough cheesecloth used to repair and/or bind books. It's going to help reinforce your spine. A large sheet of this runs about $15 and will last you through many binds.
Headband/Endbands - While I have heard you can make your own, I just bought a box of them with assorted colors. It's fairly inexpensive at $10 and will last for a very long time. These are the little pieces of cloth at the top and bottom of the text block, visible only if you look down at the top of the book.
Cardstock/Endpapers - Endpapers are the thicker pages that connect the cover of the book to the text block. When you open a book, it's the first thing you see and is often decorative. Some bookbinders print their own custom ones using blank cardstock, but I bought an assorted pack of decorative pages for about $15. Each page is a 12-inch square and I used two to bind one book--one for the front and matching one for the back.
Chipboard - This is used for your case or cover. I found a pack of 24 sheets that are 12-inch squares and 2.54 mm thick for $25. One square worked to bind one book.
Book Cloth/Leather - This is what you glue to your chipboard to make the cover of the book. I used book cloth I found online. A 40" x 16" piece was $15 and should be enough to handle three to four books.
Exacto/OLFA Knife - This is a retractable and very sharp blade that will help you cut your endpapers, chipboard, and book cloth. Cost is about $5.
Ruler - You'll be doing quite a bit of measuring once you finish your signature block and begin the steps to connect it with the case. You'll also find it handy to use as a guide when cutting with your knife. Cost is pretty cheap--maybe a couple dollars.
I would consider the things listed above as necessities to make things look good and somewhat professional. You could certainly get by without a couple of them (bone folder, punch cradle, headbands), but it will make the process more difficult.
There are some additional things I bought that have helped me greatly. You don't need these things, but they will make your binding experience more pleasant and much easier.
Book Press - It's two pieces of wood that squish your text block (and eventually book) together during the process of binding. After you've folded your signatures, you're going to be using the book press to squish the signatures together after each step, and then leave it that way until you're ready to work on the book again. You could use two large books or boards lying around your home with some cheap clamps. That would work just as well. If you want a book press, they're about $40, but can go up higher.
Craft Mat - You can find self-healing ones online or in craft stores. This is just a large mat to work on. It will protect your table/floor from the blade you'll be using to cut materials. You could use scrap material you already have, but you want it to be sturdy; corrugated cardboard boxes aren't a good substitute because they are too squishy. Craft mats are about $10.
T Spacers and Corner Mitres - These are very helpful when making your case. They allow you to line up the front and back cover with the spine while leaving appropriate space for the hinge and also cut the corners of the book cloth so you can create clean edges when gluing the cloth to the board. I didn't buy these until after I bound my first book, and I regret not getting them immediately because my case would have looked so much better with them. You can get a set of various sizes for $20.
Cricut or Silhouette Machine - I don't have one of these, but I've been considering it. They can be quite expensive, but many bookbinders use them to create artwork for the covers and spine of their books. An alternative would be a laminated dust jacket or you could stencil/paint the title. These machines cost anywhere between $120 and $800. From my minimal research, I think you'd need to spend about $200-300 to get one that would do what you need for cover art purposes.
Subscriptions for Artwork - Many people use a Canva subscription for all design/artwork. If you want to do custom endpapers and a dust jacket, then this will come in handy. There is a free trial, but the monthly subscription will run you $15.
So, how much are we talking? Tools that you only have to buy once will cost you about $50 (bare minimum) to $120 (if you throw in the extras to make life easier). Of course, that doesn't include printer/ink and the Cricut. The materials will set you back about $125, but you'll get several books out of them. I could bind about 4 books without buying anything else. Then I'd need to spend about $60 on more supplies like paper, glue, and book cloth to make another 4. My best guess is that each book uses about $15-20 worth of supplies. So, if we aren't counting your time, it's about what you'd pay for a hardcover. But we're talking about fanfic that isn't commercially available, so we're gonna say $20 for a one-of-a-kind book that holds a story you love is priceless. Right?
If you want a tutorial to get started, then I highly recommend Haunna's tutorial on TikTok. It is easy to follow and what I used.

well, i have something minor to share in terms of Spore Comic Book Creator-- a poster.
i tried to find more on this poster because i saw it on ebay. it was super cheap anyways so i was like, probably going to get it for the heck of it. i mean im not sure why someone would have one random print of this poster, legit or not. but was wondering where it could have come from as i hadnt seen this render. probably something in a store? the only existence i could find of something similar was this image
but the weird thing is this image is linked on a page titled "spore comic book creator booklet" and theres some other images in search of a full comic book. the page i defunct, and sadly the few wayback machine pages dont seem to show anything.
id have to guess this was the cover of the booklet, but im wondering where that came from. did the person make it themself? or was this actually handed out somewhere/acquired? id love to know if anyone has that information.
regardless i got the poster and its identical to the above. Parts of this render are used in other forms btw- it is a basic spore render thats been reused, but this edit with the boxes is unique as far as i have seen, and i know the speech bubbles were reused on the Comic Creator box? or manual.
but uh, on the back of the poster there's an alternate version with no text.... and Will Wright??????? i dont think i have ever seen this render with Will Wright slapped on it but feel free to let me know. This was the part that confused me the most. When searching i quickly found some cropped images of this shot of Will Wright, so it's definitely him.
#spore#spore comic book creator#spore comic maker#will wright#lost media#i am gonna message the seller too but idk if theyll respond or have info

In today's busy world, both companies and people are always looking for ways to clearly share their ideas. Booklets are a common way to present information neatly and in a small space. They can be used for things like company introductions, product lists, event schedules, or basic information sheets. Booklets are a flexible tool that can be adjusted for different purposes. But how can you get good quality booklet printing in Dubai at a low cost? Let's find out.

The new Spanish Collector's Edition release of Mirai Nikki is chock-full of goodies
It was just last August that the first Spanish dub of Mirai Nikki was first announced by SelectaVision (alongside the first Spanish dub of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and its follow-up film). And now those Spanish dubs are available on blu-ray and DVD in Europe... along with a really impressive Collector's Edition for Mirai Nikki!
BEHOLD! It's crazy how fast SelectaVision went from announcing this set to fully releasing it. I actually missed the entire announcement window and then BOOM, it was already out when I learned about it.
Items #1 and #2 in the above image are just the box and the actual disks, which actually include the test OVA that predates the series. And while that's a neat inclusion, I think the most compelling content is the rest of the items included in the set.
#3 is a soundtrack CD with 20 tracks from the series.
#4 is a "mini-container box" for the disks (for some reason).
#5 is a series of 9 "Maxicards" — Sakae Esuno illustrations printed in a large size.
#6 is is a 68x48 poster with different artwork on each side.
#7 is a set of die-cut character stickers.
#8 consists of 19 trading cards (made from 9 'card models,' whatever that is).
#9 is a replica of Yuki's signature beanie, of course.
#10 is a 40-page booklet containing character sheets, background information, soundtrack details, and an image gallery.
At a price of 120 Euros, this doesn't come cheap... but I still feel tempted to get one for myself. That asking price actually feels justified (IMO) in light of all that's included! I'm not sure if I'll take the plunge, but either way? I hope we ALL get to see the contents of that 40-page booklet one day.
By the way, the standard edition has different cover art than the collector's set. It looks like this:
I admit I don't care for SelectaVision's cover choices. I think Japan, the U.S., and the UK have all produced better cover art for the series. But hey, what does that really matter? It's the content that's the meat of the package — not the box.

HII hello i love your products <3 Especially the phone chams and the pins,,, I'm unable to buy them myself but i would absolutely love to
How do you make em btw? do you have someone else do em for you? Do you do em yourself? I'd love to sell stuff like that too, but i'm unsure of how to start >_<"
you should totally do it!! it's nice to have something especially catered to ur tastes haha
for most of my stuff i (and many others lol) use vograce! they have a bunch of different kinds of merch, have sales pretty frequently, and very low minimum buy requirements. i've also had good customer service experiences and even though it can take a while for overseas shipping they are generally good about getting it in the mailing system quickly
for enamel pins, i've used vivipins. i've only used them twice, but no problems so far. enamel pins are probably the most you have to invest upfront since the minimum amount you have to buy is usually quite high
for stickers i often use sticker ninja, they give you extra on what you order, are very high quality, and the sample option is great if you don't want a huge bulk (and they still give you extras here too!!)
for prints i honestly just use my local walgreens! and for my test doujinshi i used my local staples! buttons and small postcards/prints and booklets (like the doujinshi) can also be fairly easy to find a local printer for as well ^^ (and it can be fairly cheap- for souyo zine i needed 200 of 2 postcard designs and got both for ~$50 from a local printer)
sidenote: one time i did try to diy my own shrink charms and they went very poorly LMAO but it was still fun to try- this was the tutorial i used and it probably works fine i am just v impatient sometimes
good luck to you on making things \o/

Hello! Your fanbinds are so crisp and beautiful! What paper do you use for your text locks and what’s your printing situation like?
hi! and thank you this really made my day💛
i use short bond paper/us letter size (8 1/2"x11") 70gsm for my textblocks, this is the exact same one that i use but any brand would work, this is just the most common, cheap but quality brand we have
i tried using 80gsm for one bind but it doesn't have that big of a difference and i only really notice it if i pay attention really closely:)
for my printing situation, i use adobe acrobat but i've seen others use BookletCreator. i never used that before but DAS Bookbinding has a video tutorial on how to use it!
in adobe acrobat i choose the booklet option and print the front side first with the binding option on the left, i don't have a printer that prints double-sided so i turn the pages around to print the back side as well and voila a signature
i can't adjust the margins of the text in adobe acrobat itself so i formatted the margins that i want on word and found that a margin of 19mm top-bottom and 21mm left-right worked best with me but it's all up to personal preference!
@/babovens here on tumblr has this really cool post of tips and tutorials for getting started on bookbinding and she really helped me start my journey! @/hanabobb on tiktok also has some tutorials on her page
thank you again for this ask it really made me happy💛
#feel free to ask any more questions but no pressure:)#AlsoIdidn'tPayForAdobeAcrobatMySisterJustTookMyLaptopAndSuddenlyIhaveIt#tbh i'm fine with p!racy bc adobe is a large corporation and can weep on my grave for all i care-#@/yellowcirclecsoi on tumblr is where i post my bookbinding stuff and @/psyche.binds on instagram coughcough very shamed plug in-#also sorry for the late response</3#bookbinding#fanbinding#ficbinding#csoi binds#csoi posts#csoi answers

tip to indie designers and makers: give out business cards and cheap free samples at goth and punk events, like obviously don’t hassle anyone but it’s gonna come up in conversation that you sell handmade stuff and they’ll ask what you do and then BOOM you have an example right there, and then GENERALLY a small crowd will form around you discussing your work and asking for samples and cards as people realize you have stickers or rings or whatever
I even make little gift bags, they generally have a business card, a few bulk stickers and/or printed adhesive bandages/tattoos (not made by me) and then some of my own stickers and a small ring or lapel pin, generally made from the pigmented resin left over during a pour
a good place to get business cards is moo.com since you can print a different image on the back of every card and have full control over the shape and texture, and they’ll give you a booklet of square stickers of your art/images for a couple of dollars too which you can cut up any way you want
for diecut stickers printful’s bulk pricing is good and I think you can order different images in one sticker size for free

Gary Gygax's Dangerous Journeys (Mythus)
This should be all the official (physically) published content for Dangerous Journeys. (it was not exactly cheap to acquire some of them.) I kind of went down this rabbit hole because people were not happy with the Frog God Games' 5E version of Necropolis (it was watered down and integrated into FGG's house setting) and I was curious about the OG version. (I also have the d20 conversion which expands upon the DJ text somewhat.)
The GM screen isn't in the best shape but because the packet consists of 2 cardboard screens and a booklet, I opted for an eBay listing that showed pictures of all the parts, to ensure it was complete. (I have another copy on the way.)
Epic of Ærth has a few loose pages that had been re-glued into the back in the wrong order, so I re-detached them.
The third novel is a Canadian printing rather than American like the other two. American printings DO exist but I'm not too fussed about it (the only notable difference seems to be the copyright page). It's kind of funny that the first volume has an embossed and full foil cover, the second has just embossing, and the third has neither.
The sourcebooks form this wedge pattern across the spines. Kind of. It's not perfect.

what would the price of the booklet be? and does merch mean things like shirts, keychains?
Hi! The price of the physical zine is undecided, it'll depend on how many pages are in the final booklet (and if it’s feasible for us to produce it in the first place!).
As we're a small team and it's quite a niche subject, we're also aiming to keep any merchandise cheap and simple to produce and ship. So any physical extras would be things like small art prints or stickers. There’s also likely to be free digital extras like icons or emotes.
We aren’t going into this expecting to make much profit, if any- we intend for any income to help reimburse the costs of production and shipping contributors a free copy.
Thanks for your question!
#questions#both of us are prepared to pay out of pocket to cover any unexpected costs as well#It’s first and foremost a free digital zine as a passion project but we’d also really like to print it...

It's somehow sentimental if you wanted a certain musical album the most but you bought it for last. This is 101, and now I have it accidently in 4 pieces, moreover double discs. Of course I had to have the LP but the sight as much important as the sound so I bought DVD too. Story below.
I found at my favourite online market a West German 101 LP that was very expensive for the first sight, but I looked around on the net and I didnt' find cheaper included delivery except the new edition (Sony). This is the 2nd LP on the picture above (front, back and inside), included original white and black vinyl sleeves that have its pressing number at the top, if you zoom in the pic.
Later my old dealer wrote me that he found an original British LP much cheaper than this German one I talked him about previously. Although I prefer prints from "homeland", I said no, coz I've already written to the other seller for a meeting - but the British version was ordered by that time from the UK… Communication failure, I wasn't enough determined, I accepted the situation. Photo to the left above, I got it 4 days ago. First I was considering to sell the German, but the cover and beautiful booklet's photos' quality is much better, not that dark, you can see all the details (I learnt manual photography 20 years ago).
Made in Great Britain
German booklet - OMG
Considering my failure I convinced myself easily to buy 2 DVDs haha, both are new. I bought the latest (2021) edition at the DM shop, this version's quality is better, but the old one (2013) has more interviews, so… I found only one shop where I could ordered direct from the Sony.
DVDs were cheap, LPs weren't. Expensive hobby. I can sell one or two of them, if I got in trouble, but - for now - I'm really happy with them. I keep in contact this two cunning, crazy dealers who help me in my choices in detailed, they own 5-6 different editions of 1 record. "The Spanish cover is shiny, a small poster included" said one of them. "I had to have the first Japanese edition, but it cost a wealth" said the other. They can get literally anything by their connections, that's why I didn't make a list for them, prices would be painfully all together. Actually it's nice to meet these people occasionly, we can talk about common subjects. I rather believe in my luck like gold diggers. It means more surprises and joy <3
