Do we know what their gala performance was going to be for the 2017-2018 season before Long Time Running, which I think was choreographed last-minute before a fall comp that year? So curious if we ever saw the piece afterwards or have video of it in practice! LTR is so beautiful–glad they went with their gut to do a Hip tribute and created that amazing piece for their last year in competition.

Long Time Running was indeed, choreographed by Tessa and Scott at the last moment, at least in part on the ice at the SCI 2017 gala rehearsal.

It was really exciting to be able to kind of pay tribute to somebody who has really had an effect on Canada and the culture of our country” “So Tessa and I had been listening to the Hip in the rink for quite a while after Gord, and then it just felt right, you know? We woke up that morning, right after the free dance. I turned to Tessa and Marie-France and Patrice [Lauzon], and before Marie-France and Patrice got on the plane, I was like, I really want to skate to the Hip for Gord. And they all looked at me and Tessa’s like, for sure we can do that! And then Marie-France and Patrice were just like, well, we’re leaving now, so good luck.

Before they decided to go for it, our strongest understanding was that they would have used their show (CSOI) version of Prince as an exhibition that season.

That being said, Virtue and Moir have a special place in their hearts for last year’s short dance to Prince. “Prince is very close to our hearts,” Moir said. “We love to skate to it. It was a special program. I don’t think we’ve said by to that Prince program for sure. It will poke its head up once in a while.”

It was filmed in practice at least a few times; my favourite is still the early version via SCI 2017.  I still envy the people in the audience that day, who got to witness them working out a new program together.

Long Time Running was retired after PyeongChang - or so we thought.  It was resurrected briefly at Fantasy on Ice 2019, as an alternative program.  Unfortunately, with the strict filming rules, we never got to see more than this clip.

It was, of course, mostly a mix-up of choreography they already knew from other programs, knit together to fit the music, but I was very happy to have it as their program for the season, and it felt very fitting.  :)

Do you think London will be added to the RTR tour? I live there for school, and can't believe they won't be stopping in! (This isn't a complaint though, goodness we're spoiled here in terms of skating entertainment, considering the size of the city)

Yeah, I’m like 99.999% sure they will, it’s their hometown and a venue that will definitely sell amazingly well so there really isn’t a reason to skip it. I imagine everyone’s logical conclusion that the unannounced dates are in locations that have SOI or CSOI shows in them is the most likely answer to why they are waiting to announce it (but it is an interesting question - if people who are yet to buy tickets to SOI/CSOI knew that the RTR tour will be coming their way - would they save the ticket money for RTR tour?)

From @colddetectiveyouth: I would say it’s a definite – there’s a show TBA on May 6 right when they could drive to London that’s going to be announced right after the London SOI show.  Mark your calendar – that’s as good as definite.

From @peacefulboo:  Also, Scott said on the radio spot they just did with TSN that they’ll be going to London…so. Not sure if that was a slip or just a way to announce without really announcing in order to reassure people.

What kind of performances do you want to see in the next tour?

i love this question! took me a while to answer because i had to think about it.

so my unrealistic desire is for it to just be vm skating for 2 hours. seriously, i don’t actually need anyone else, i would just watch the two of them on the ice/off ice dancing the whole time. that’s my dream show.

since i don’t think that will actually happen, i think i’d like to see it be the direction that they were going but MORE. i think for the first time it made sense to do a traditional skating show and then the new concept, but i think they can go harder with the new skating/whole entertainment concept. if you’re going with that, go all in. i love group numbers with a storyline (ie hip hip chin chin from csoi) so i’d love to see more of those. i love the off ice dancing they did so i hope they do more of that, but a different style of dancing - ballroom or contemporary would be cool. i’d be fine if sam didn’t choreograph any of it honestly. hmmm i’m probably forgetting something awesome so drop it in my ask box if you have any awesome ideas i didn’t think of.

also i hope they get some non-canadian skaters this time (coughashleywagnercough).

Luka, what is your favorite TS personal moment from the last 6 months? Mine is very brief, it is the quick video of them in Korea following CSOI, they are just skating together, he has a cap on backward looking intense and T has this big smile like he and skating is all she needs.

Oh gosh that’s a hard question! I think I’m going to take a sort of cope out answer and say that it’s not one moment but rather the constant and consistent little displays of ingrained intimacy between them. Just all of the little touches and looks that say more than words ever could has been a delight to see. It’s hard to point to one moment because there are so many that I love.

From all of the cheek kisses during SOI, to the head kiss just recently, to all of the small touches they gave to each other during TYI, it’s impossible to choose! But just the fact that it all speaks to the level they are at now is my favorite thing. You can’t fake or act out the level of intimacy they have with each other and that’s what makes it so important to me.

What did you think of that photo of Scott with the fan? I do not say it for the fan, it was super harmless, so much that she says that mother asked ... I say it was that he was with Tessa, because I think yesterday was such a special day for both of them, that I think Scott should stay with her yesterday to celebrate! But, I think she was there and you?

I am not really sure which fan you are talking about.  There are so many photos out there of Scott with fans.  He is so lovely about posing with fans.  I am guessing that do to the constant shiplash in this fandom, someone has some idea that some girl Scott was pictured with was a ‘love’ interest or there was flirting or she was touch him or he was touching her or whatever else everyone seem to have issues with.  I must say I am so confused by it all.  These pictures and videos are a tiny part of their days and are taken out of context the majority of the time.  I am not sure why yesterday in particular was a special day.  Do you mean because it was the beginning of the CSOI?  

I am sorry I do not have any answer for you.  The majority of my fan girl time has been sent watching their programs from last night from every angle.  Halifax fans were really pulling out all the stops.  Amazing standing Ovation (which makes me emotional) and lots of videos of their programs.  I am going to the Hamilton show and I am getting so excited thanks to these fans.  What a great day in the VirtueMoir fandom!

Maybe something closer to CSOI Try costumes? Although def intrigued with seeing them in the Song for You costumes. But yeah, definitely hard to make him dressed down but still performance (olympic) worthy. However, I think that if the costumes matched each other well enough and worked for the story then a dressed down look would work perfectly...

Those Try ones were one of the ones that crossed my mind or the ones from an even earlier just guys #, with Andrew in a tank, but I couldn’t quickly find the name and pic of that number. I think he looked real nice at that Worlds SD practice in the black pants and the black v-neck tee. The cohesiveness is a super good point though and it is strange how formal he looks. And I’ve always felt it’s a clunky look on him. Something about the grays and the cut of the shirt and pants, and also the fact that you can see how sweaty the shirt gets really distracts me hahahahaha I kinda just wanted new costumes when they first announced because I was less than thrilled they were returning to Malade but I am a convert. 

It just gives me such a personal feelings of those moments in life when it’s the middle of the night and your heart is racing and you feel completely defeated and distraught and broken, for whatever reason that is. I feel like this story totally transcends a failed romantic relationship and just goes to all sorts of struggles in life...and weirdly enough, her messy hair and that strap are a huge part of that for me.

Hello! Your fanbinds are so crisp and beautiful! What paper do you use for your text locks and what’s your printing situation like?

i use short bond paper/us letter size (8 1/2"x11") 70gsm for my textblocks, this is the exact same one that i use but any brand would work, this is just the most common, cheap but quality brand we have

i tried using 80gsm for one bind but it doesn't have that big of a difference and i only really notice it if i pay attention really closely:)

for my printing situation, i use adobe acrobat but i've seen others use BookletCreator. i never used that before but DAS Bookbinding has a video tutorial on how to use it!

in adobe acrobat i choose the booklet option and print the front side first with the binding option on the left, i don't have a printer that prints double-sided so i turn the pages around to print the back side as well and voila a signature

i can't adjust the margins of the text in adobe acrobat itself so i formatted the margins that i want on word and found that a margin of 19mm top-bottom and 21mm left-right worked best with me but it's all up to personal preference!

Hello! Yes, I was wondering, do you have any idea what a binder feels like? You know, the ones for making boobs look like they aren't there? I'm writing a story that features a character who identifies as trans and I have no frame of reference for how they feel as I am not trans myself. I am sorry to ask if this sounds rude or upsets you, but I want my description to be accurate.

hi! i am so so sorry i answered late! it's not rude at all so no worries

in my experience, a binder feels like a snug hug and should be able to take deep breaths. a new binder is a little harder to put on and take off because it still hasn't 'broken in' yet, but even when new it shouldn't cause physical pain or discomfort

a person shoudnt wear a binder for more than 8 hours because it can cause damage, and they also shouldnt exercise or swim in one unless the binder itself says that it's exercise/swim friendly. i've seen a few people who bind use high-impact sports bras when they exercise and those also work but it may vary from person to person because of breast sizes

though not every trans person binds due to a variety of reasons like health problems, sensory issues, or because they can't buy one safely due to their current living situation. i don't bind that often because i was blessed with a small chest and i'm able to pass as a guy if im wearing loose enough clothing, but whenever I do bind it just brings me a sense of euphoria and a flatter appearance and i'm able to wear more form-fitting clothing without any fear of my chest showing
