Do you think you will ever unlist or unrpivate your csoi videos featuring Tessa and Scott? It's hard to find certain performances in hd other than 2018
I don’t actually have any CSOI videos personally, except one clip of a retake from 2013 and a clip from 2017. I was always more of a picture taker than video, on the whole. I don’t think I even ever took any CSOI video beyond these two bits - it’s not like I just never shared them lol. The most video I ever took was in 2017-2019, and that was mostly gala practices and TTYCT and RTR.

Yes, Scott broke his commitment to VM. Just look back to 2018-19 & VM skating in the various events & shows. There was energy, expression & chemistry in the SOI shows. His personality, skating, treatment of Tessa, even his appearance changed after he met Jackie. I remember his performances in TTYCT. When J entered the picture it affected his performance. He was lukewarm & cool in most of the shows. He didn’t want to look at her. Then RTR on 2019 was a disaster. Tessa did most of the work. He was finding himself in Florida & lost his soul. There was no promotion. He was half ass on ice & you could tell when J was in attendance. Yes, Scott talks a good talk about wanting her to work with him, but he lost interest in working with Tessa when the trashy MAGA adulteress showed up.
and because of this domino effect of bad decisions, he cant even enjoy the leafs goin to ROUND 2 of the playoffs for the first time since 2004
ITS LITERALLY BEEN 20 YRS OMG

Seriously hate how Jbutt and Tessa fell apart. And no, I don’t think it was because of TTYCT vs SOI or whatever. My guess is Tessa is just not a particularly good friend and she tends to lose them as time goes on.

I think the core audience for skating shows outside of the Olympic seasons are general skating fans who are attending CSOI (or SOI) as a brand almost and will be happy to see whoever is put in front of them. Of course having a big name like VM or Nathan Chen in the US would bring more casual fans but I tend to think that the casting doesn’t matter a whole lot as the people who go every year won’t mind seeing the same folks over and over.
I was never a big Weapo fan when they skated competitively but they are a good show skating team. They tended to be strong in lifts and that plays well in the show programs. I’m sure the Canadanes would be excellent too and would love to see multiple dance teams rather than so-so singles skaters honestly.
That said, as long as CSOI is the dominant brand, it’s not likely another show will be able to supplant it. I mean even VM could only sell out one tour immediately following major viral success/fame. (I know the fandom likes to blame the drop in sales for RTR on personal drama, but the fact is that there isn’t a sufficient audience to support 2 tours annually, and CSOI was earlier in the year and the established brand — I went to both in 2019 and RTR was a far better show — better skaters, choreo, music etc., but it wasn’t enough. If anything, it shows what an anomaly the success of TYCT was.)
Maybe IAM needs to consider branching out to do more virtual shows or something?
I think most of the current line up are good show skaters including WeaPo (though I will say that having seen them during TTYCT I only enjoyed one of their programs), I just think that for many years SOI and CSOI truly gave representation to competing skaters and watching the current seasons where 90-95% of the CSOI line up have been (very) retired skaters just makes me sad for the current skaters, many of whom are some of the top in the world.
It is true that in North America there's barely room for skating shows in general, and only CSOI is barely surviving (emphasis on barely). TTYCT sold amazingly as well as CSOI 2018, both were close to sold out in many cities, but it makes perfect sense considering the success the Canadian delegation had in PyeongChang, they had a lineup completely made from World champions and Olympic medalists, it was incredible. RTR sold not as well but it also made sense and as you said it had nothing to do with made-up personal drama or how it was promoted, it was a tricky time in the year and skating is not as big and most of the lineup was international (which tbh was amazing and for me a much better line up) which also might have been tricky for some viewers. Either way, having successfully produced two tours probably showed TS that the market is limited and that it's more effort than it's worth and I totally not blame them for it.
Bottom line is that CSOI is basically the only remaining show in Canada and them having a lineup that is so disconnected from the current skating field just disappoints me.

Let’s do another addition of ‘comparing TS to other skaters’.
(This is just a coincidence it’s M&E again I’m not picking on them).
Once again there are obvious things like height difference between each team which you can point out, but again, if there is set chore all teams should be doing the same thing, anyway, regardless there are other more detailed nuances that make TS stand out for all the right reasons.
1. Scott looks all the way around as she circles him, adding to that flirtatious vibe, and reacting to where she touches him. Tessa glides her hand around him and looks up to him smiling, making eye contact before she ducks behind him. She bends down really low like she’s playing with him as she skates around. As she comes round they join hands basically straight away. They get kinda sassy with their hips as they hold hands out stretched, lengthening that moment before using that stretch to pull her back in.
E doesn’t look at M all, just looks to his right waiting for her to get back around. M circles him quite wide and doesn’t touch him at all, not making any eye contact throughout this movement. They both put their arms out to hold hands at the very end and far away as she has completely finished curling him.
2. Tessa spots Scott as she spins in, making eye contact each time she faces him. He helps her start spinning then as she does and comes closer he smiles and is maintaining his character. As she finishes and she stops on a relevé with her arm up, rather than simply waiting for the music to continue with the next movement, they keep their energy alive, he uses it to make sure she feels secure, gets close to her so she’s in the right position, and also flirts with her by not just grabbing her still, but moving his hands, feeling her up, looking her up and down as she stays so tall, almost taking this as like a ‘breathe’ and moment for him to ‘check her out’. Then when it is time to lower down, she leans against him and really indulges in it, melts against him and even comes off her centre of balance a bit because he has her securely but still very intimately. He’s lined himself up so she has as much contact with his body as possible- she slides down while maintaining contact with his entire torso. Getting this low and being off balance a bit allows her to do that genuine body roll to get back up, he assists her a bit with that leverage and pulls up gently by her arm. She is also so high on her ‘point’, her relevé as she is standing, then only comes back off her toe pick a little bit as she lowers down, making for a more elegant body position. Throughout this Scott is keeping a really stylised stance, his sitting into his hip as he leans into her. Then after she pops up they lock eyes and smile again, keeping that connection whether they have eye contact or not.
M+E are literally being no help to each other. He grabs her arm with one hand (I don’t know where the other one is) she has no support for that lowing down move, she may as well be doing it on her own. All this makes it so stale and not sexy at all, they are dancing like they have never met each other.. like they want to stay as far apart as possible, in fact I wouldn’t even really call it ‘dancing’ because they’re aren’t really interacting with each other to the rhythm. Because of the lack of contact from E to help her balance, she doesn’t get that nice lean back, she can’t indulge, she can’t be on her toe picks, she’s essentially just doing a squat where she’s flat on her blades. She stands up basically entirely on her own and only cause she is so strong she can do it because it doesn’t look super comfortable.
3. (Here’s where height comes into play a bit but I’ll get to it). There’s actually something quite vulnerable and emotional about the way Scott let’s her take him like that. It’s the same thing with Carmen, how in moments she’s the boss and he’s helpless against her, well in this moment T is a BOSS BABE and he’s at her mercy- yet in a more fun and flirtatious way compared to carmen. It’s like here he’s all for being played with by her and just lets her fully go for it- she can be rough and flirtatious and put him in his place because this is all fun and they trust each other. Again, they don’t just do robotic movements and hold positions waiting for the music. They have time so she plays with his hair and kinda ruffles it a bit, rolls his head around and he’s like ‘jeez what’s she doing’. She has this big confident, sassy smile like she damn well knows what she doing and she’s loving it. She actually pushes him down, like he does that step down but he lets her push him down with a bit of force as well. She also flicked her hand as he’s knelt down all the way like ‘damn that was easy’. She makes it look really easy and almost gives a bit of an eyebrow ‘up down’ to the audience in front of her like ‘you know I’m not done yet’. Once Scott has knelt down he has kinda this slouched posture as if he has just been beaten up a bit, again, a little essence of vulnerability in that- not needing to always appear so mucho, being comfortable in that shifted dynamic between them and having fun with it. And just finally a choreographic difference here- Scott kneels down one leg at a time, E bends both knees at once- again makes the pieces as a whole look messy when not everyone is doing the same thing.
(For this section it’s actually katelyn and Eric) So understandably because of height difference K can’t reach is head, however, pushing down from his shoulder is perfectly fine, IF they made something more of it. Without repeating everything I just said about TS, they could still make it sexy, she could take charge, he could be into it.. any amount. They can still make their own thing of it but it’s just so.. stale- compared to the energy TS give. How T actually gives some force to pushing him down and he coordinates with her for that, K pushes down as if she’s giving a lot of force, but E had already started kneeling so the whole effort is kinda worthless the way they do it, again, make it sexy, not so literal, it would look better.
Yes, TS had more to do with the choreography process so they were more familiar and maybe confident with the movement, but it shouldn’t matter.. there aren’t excuses for not being into the performance and playing a character. (I’m not saying the other skaters aren’t just no where near the level TS are, but next to them it looks kind of ridiculous). All these skaters/teams are very different but they can still find their own style and performance within each of these pieces as professional performers.
4. Lastly, TS are the only ones in frame so I’ll just talk about them. Continuing on from the previous movement, he makes it really believable she’s knocking him over, like she’s kinda beating him up a bit. The just both play it so honestly, they are so comfortable with the movement, and they are both on the same page as to what they are portraying. Even for a fun, upbeat no. like this it still adds so much when they are in character. Scott is really smooth on the ice- like he’s clearly comfortable with floor work (there’s an off ice dance video that proves it). T as always being her beautiful self, giving as good as he gives her, smiling and confident, swinging her hips and flicking her pony like the queen she is.
It might be easy to look at TS and say ‘omg they’re so slutty and so raunchy and omg like get a room, literaly no one is doing it like this’.. and that last point is the main thing. You’re right, no one is doing like this, and that makes TS stand out for being amazing and embracing these characters and the style of the dance, really having fun and being into it, and everyone else looks like they’ve never met before and would rather be anywhere else, it comes off awkward and they look embarrassed and you feel embarrassed for them watching because there is no chemistry or sense of connection to what they are skating to. It’s uncomfortable to watch. But I think very few would realise that because we’re all staring at TS and thinking they are so comfortable with each other and they just seem to love it so much. THAT IS WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE PORTRAYING.

During the beginning of TTYCT, people said their chemistry was amazing, as better than ever, they loved every single video and it was the proof they're so in love. But the moment they found Scott had a girlfriend, they started to use the same videos to say they couldn't stand eachother anymore and their chemistry was over 🙄🙄
Yeah.. bc 21 years of an intense, intimate, special, written in the stars since childhood bond like their’s suddenly goes out the window when there’s another person in their lives, which btw had been in the case for both of them on and off their entire careers while they had more chemistry (on ice) than every romantic movie couple you’ve ever seen put together..
#*ppl#poly during ttyct: ‘everyone’s running round like cut-off chickens’#(yes I knows it’s chickens with their heads cut off I’m referencing something no one on here knows abt#look in the mirror you lunatics- you’re the insane ones
