Not sure if I’ve just been unattentive or what, but I seem to be noticing a lot of chayatsuji patterned kimono popping up on ichiroya lately... which seems to be a loved design of another member of the community. ^_~
Water garden, which I seem to see most often shown with katazome/stencil print on chirimen/crepe.

I had not planned on wearing my new Houmongi Kimono today. The intended Komon was too short, so I will be using it with my western clothing instead. So plan B. I wanted to try a Ginza Musubi and I think it went fairly well. I had good help from Chayatsuji Kimono;) Becoming good at dressing in Kimono, has proven itself to be much more challenging then first anticipated, but I am really starting to enjoy it^_^
My very shy cat anted in on the action as well.

Shibori Kimono. Early Showa period (1927-1940), Japan. The Kimono Gallery. A rinzu silk kimono featuring 'chayatsuji' (water garden scenery) with 'ume'(Japanese plum), 'kaede' (maple leaf) and 'shippou-tsunagi' (jointed four circles) patterns. Shibori is the main technique utilized, with the addition of yuzen-dyeing (painting) and plentiful foil highlighting. The soft, high-quality rinzu (damask) silk base is woven with motifs of wave, bird and flower circle patterns.
