Last time, we brought you Gosho's earliest commentaries on his favorite son (including Definitive Proof he is the favorite!). What could possibly stack up to that?

How 'bout a piece of lost art, never-before-seen by gaijin eyes?

As some of you may recall, our dear Kaito(u) landed his first chapter on the last week of May, 1987. But a week before that was this: Weekly Shonen Sunday, Vol. 29, Issue 25 and its unassuming little Previews page.

That's right. You're looking at the first Kaito ever published in Sunday—the first, and in all likelihood the most forgotten. Never reused, never collected, Gosho Aoyama himself probably doesn't remember drawing it. But we do. And through the tireless efforts of @marivanilla05, @runecel, and @chatlote we present it here, remastered and revived.

Ah, right. You want to know what all those words up there mean too, don't you?

Just dropping by (at the last minute) to let you guys know I'm participating in this year's @kaishinbigbang!!

I have the great honor of @chatlote being my partner, whose idea had me in a chokehold from the moment I saw it! It's gonna be a bumpy ride for our boys since the underlined theme was 'it gets worse before it gets better' and I took that as a challenge lol

Also, Lina's art for this is so beautiful!! I can't wait for everyone else to see it as well~ ♥

Nothing changed in KID’s demeanor. Not a twitch on his shoulders. His fingers held the cup steadily enough that the water inside didn’t even ripple.

This complete lack of reaction pointed toward a single conclusion.

“Of course, you already knew that.” Shinichi scoffed, accepting the offered cup. “Why all this fanfare to meet me then? You could have sent a bouquet to my hospital bed and be done with it. Wait, I got a better idea. You could have turned yourself in and spared me the hassle of chasing you around. There are other cases I need to focus on right now.”

Despite the scornful words, KID smiled. “Attending my heists has always been optional.” His smile grew cheekier as he added. “And technically, for the past several months, you aren’t the one doing the actual chasing, Great Detective.”

“Details,” Shinichi mumbled. His face felt warm, definitely from another fever wave passing through. “So, that’s it? Me sitting on the sidelines bruised your ego and you had to come complain in person? Was it more important than tracking your next target?”

“Yes,” KID said. “Because I only ever had one target and that’s Pandora.”

first off !! the twilight wants him back by @chatlote

it's a canon divergent fix-it fic that takes place from november onwards featuring sees ryoji :> I think my favourite thing abt this fic is the way lina characterises both ryoji and makoto, like I genuinely adore how she writes them in this fic. both of their inner worlds feel so rich and detailed and i adore how the pov switches give us a look into makoto and ryoji's different outlooks !! seeing makoto and ryoji's different perspectives on the same events is so interesting and it adds so much depth of their interactions. it's been such a joy so far to watch those two slowly get to know each other while also exploring how makoto's dealing with everything he's experienced up until then (the way she shows how makoto's been dealing with loss is so. augh <3) and I'm so excited to see where this fic is headed ^_^ every update has me kicking my feet in excitement hehe

and then there's persephone's curse by @sweet-sirin

this fic took me on such an emotional rollercoaster that it hasn't stopped rolling around in my brain since I read it. it takes place post canon and if u know abt persephone than u can probably take a guess as to where this fic is going. I don't wanna say too much bcs I think this fic is best experienced knowing as little abt it as possible but its just a beautiful exploration of ryoji and makoto's characters and just how stubborn they can be in their own ways, especially ryoji. there's so many scenes in this fic that are just stuck in my brain. it felt like every single scene and every piece of dialogue has some sort of underlying/second meaning and it was a ride unpacking everything as I was reading. everything feels so purposeful and meaningful its just so. augh. it emotionally destroyed me and I don't think I'll ever recover <3 it'll live in a special corner of my brain forever

Also !! I haven't really gone down the ryomina fic rabbit hole myself yet so if you or anyone reading has some fic recs of their own please send them my way !! 🙏🙏

um. surprise surprise, shuake. HAHAHAHA as for bg ships in p5.... uhmmm.... I could kinda get behind any combo, really. I don't have any strong opinions surrounding anyone that isn't Akechi or Akiren for p5 ships. I guess... I could ship Ryuji with anyone really, and MakoHaru and MakoAnn always make me smile. Yutaba is funny to me too lmao ('funny' in this context is definitely a compliment in the ship's favour)

for p4! Souyo my love.... bg ships is another case of "eh whatever" for my but YukiChie always makes sense to me hahahaha

for p3.... Akishinji and Ryomina are my top two "i'm obsessed" ones, and I again don't care too too much about the others (like I won't filter out any combos really), but I am partial to Yukamitsu, Fuuka/Natsuki, and Jundori of course

and like. Odagiri/Keisuke. the most background of baground ships I have but I like them HAHAHAHA

if not Akechi.... uh..... I think Adachi's SL is very interesting..... and I'm a big fan of Ryoji's linked episodes (I haven't seen his portable SL) and Aigis' SL too. And Maruki! good stuff.

Of the non plot-relavant people.... Akinari is really good.... I really like Naoki's SL.... and.... all the p5 confidants are pretty solid tbh but I guess I'll sayyyy Chihaya as my non-plot-relavant favourite? I just think she's funny HAHAHA the fact that she scams you as a first impression makes me laugh

🎁 favorite character?

(sigh) you already know it's Akechi

HAHAHA aside from Akechi.... of the PT i'd say Haru, maybe? and then of the other persona games.... Yosuke and Adachi for p4, and Ryoji for p3 (I also really like Aigis!)
