Remi Martinu Beaudard, Captain. * fall 1761, Martinu, France -
† summer 1771, Lost at Sea
Early life
Born and raised at Chateau Martinu near Bordeaux, France, as only son and heir, Remi had a keen interest in the stars from early boyhood on. He would often be found on the castle grounds at night with an atlas of the sky and a lantern, sometimes with his younger sister, oftentimes with his likeminded friend Bernard Houde, the stable boy. A telescope, gifted by his grandmother, decided his future. Living life with the stars as either an astronomer or a sea captain, would be his choice. And so it would be for Bernard. As a youngster this led to many elaborate discussions between him and his parents, as to why it would be, if the universe was so large and a little human so frail, one's position of being born into a certain family or trade would define one's opportunities to learn and grow. His father, though secretly convinced by his son, kept opposing him in those discussions, to nurture and challenge his son's sound mind and budding abilities as a leader. In the end he pressed for a career in the French Navy for both Remi and Bernard. A tragic accident in the stables resulted in only Remi reporting for duty with Admiral D'Aubrey as a beginning midshipman, at the ports of Bordeaux, spring 1765.
Career
Over the next seasons, Remi rapidly raised in the ranks of the French Navy, earning praise and trust along the way. Outwardly his star was climbing to the heavens, inwardly it went down the gutter. As his authority grew, so did his unease with the strict hierarchy and disciplinary measures asked of him to keep his Ship of the Line correctly afloat. A firm believer in equal talks and second chances, Remi felt himself increasingly morally unable to comply to the rules of the Navy, not even in times of peace. At his honorary ceremony of being promoted to Captain, he resigned, leaving his superiors speechless after his thorough appeal. Freed in spirit, though also troubled by his engagement to Lady Aurélie de Coust de Bonnais being called off, he embarked on a new journey as a Captain in the Merchant Navy. Being assigned to the Aurore first, heading to Scandinavia, a longer commitment was taken on with the Marianna in winter 1766, travelling back and forth between France and the New world. Content to select his own crew and management style, Captain Remi Beaudard was known as a calm, trustworthy and punctual commander, albeit "a little soft at heart".
Death
Remi Martinu Beaudard, born fall 1761, was declared dead summer 1771, lost at sea three years earlier. His death was announced in all the newspapers by family, employers, officers and peers. He received obituaries at both the French Admiralty and the Royal Court, and was long talked about at smaller courts all over the country, not in the least that of De Bonnais. Mourned by the whole of the extensive Beaudard family, the abrupt and cruel end of his promising life was felt the hardest by those of Chateau Martinu: his now elderly father Remi Martinu Beaudard sr., and his sister Amande Séguret de Martinu. Until this day, she and her descendants commemorate Captain Beaudard with a yearly service at his memorial statue in the private graveyard of Chateau Martinu.

Welcome back to my history challenge!
It is 1760.
Killian and Parrot have a good bond. Parrot also had a kitten, Pico.
Killian has a bit of a rebellious streak and is always getting into trouble with his friends at school. Egidius is a bit worried about him but Kidd is proud. He hopes Killian will one day takes his place among the pirate crew like him.
Baylor is a quiet kid who is just playing chess or drawing most days. He has no friends except his older brother.
In 1764 he ages into a teen.
Killian in the meantime is invited by some of his friends to a bar one night. It seems one of them, Paul, keeps wanting to be around him and keeps flirting with him. Killian likes it very much.
Paul is very smitten with him.
Killian invites him to his boat a few days later. Paul brings along a rose to gift him.
Killian is falling for Paul too.
In 1768, Killian ages into a young adult.
Paul invites him to an abandoned chateau to explore the gardens.
It is there Killian decides to propose to him.
Of course Paul accepts and they soon elope together ( Killian has heard the stories about what happened at his fathers’ wedding)
A few happy years later, in 1771, they get a son, Henri.

Chateau Malmaison
MALMAISON History of the Chateau
The chateau of MALMAISON was erected of the site of a leper colony, governed by the Monastery of Saint-Denis, from which, no doubt, it takes the name Malmaison.
In 1622 this land was given to Christophe PERROT, a Paris councillor, who started the construction of the chateau, which was afterwards continued by the successive proprietors. In 1771, the family LECOULTEUX DU MOLEY became the owners, and turned this beautiful country house into a meeting place for Society. During the Revolution the chateau was sequestrated.
"Le 2 Floreal an VII" (21 April 1799), JOSEPHINE (née TASCHER de LA PAGERIE, wife of BONAPARTE then in Egypt) signed the contract making her the owner of the estate of MALMAISON.
It was on his return from Egypt, after the 18 Brumaire, that BONAPARTE, First Consul, thought of making, MALMAISON his home; he entrusted to two young architects, Percier and Fontaine, the restoration and alteration of the old building, which was to be completely transformed.
From 1800 onward, the ground-floor apartments were converted.
JOSEPHINE became particularly interested in the park and gardens which were adorned with numerous objects, notably a Temple of Love and a small theatre. A large greenhouse was built for tropical plants.
Life at MALMAISON was the same as that at court and numerous receptions were organised; Josephine and her daughter, Hortense de BEAUHARNAIS, received visits from the First Consul's brothers and sisters, as well as artists and poets. A large number of entertainments were offered to the visitors: carriage rides, games, balls and drawing-room comedies, in which the First Consul willingly joined.
Under the Empire, Napoleon neglected Malmaison in favour of other residences such as SAINT-CLOUD, but Josephine stayed loyally on, continuing to add to the importance of the establishment.
After her divorce, it was in her favourite home, Malmaison, that she asked the Emperor to be allowed to reside; it was there that she lived and on the 29th May 1814, died, as a reult of a chill contracted during an outing in the company of the Tsar of Russia, ALEXANDER I, who had come to pay her a visit at Malmaison.
On the death of his mother, Prince Eugene de BEAUHARNAIS inherited the estate, to which that of BOIS-PREAU had already been added. The Prince was obliged to sell certain parts of the estate in order to pay the debts left by Josephine; the rest he retained until his death, which occured in 1824. In 1829, his widow parted with Malmaison, which was bought by a banker, M. HAGERMANN who, in 1842, left it to Queen MARIE-CHRISTINE OF SPAIN, who remained the owner until 1861, when it was acquired by Napoleon III for the purpose of creating a museum dedicated to the memory of his grandmother. In 1867, it was opened by the Empress Eugenie, on the occasion of the World Exhibition. After the fall of the Empire, and the war of 1870, the property was declared nationalised and sold to an estate agent who auctioned it. The 360 acres which had formed the estate of Malmaison were thus reduced to six. In 1896 the chateau was bought by a banker, M. OSIRIS, who restored it and, in 1904, gave it to the State.
The National Museum of Malmaison was opened in 1906. The original furniture having been dispersed at the time of the succession, and through sales, the chateau was re-furnished by the Mobillier National, with pieces from the Consular and the Empire periods. Since then, several pieces of furniture which belonged to Josephine have been recovered and restored to their original place.

New Dishes and All-Time Filipino Favorites at Sentro 1771
Sentro 1771 has just introduced some new delectable dishes to complement their classic all-time Filipino favorites on the menu. This well-loved homegrown restaurant, which is an offshoot from the timeless Chateau 1771, first opened its doors in Greenbelt in 2002 and continues to be a dining destination for foodies, balikbayans, and foreign businessmen who want a taste of modern Filipino cuisine with a twist.
The Hungry Kat was invited to visit Sentro 1771′s Bonifacio Global City branch located at the ground floor of the Uptown Place Mall. Sentro 1771 is part of the 1771 Group of Restaurants that include Chateau 1771, Cafe 1771, and Flatiron 1771, which actually shares a space just beside the restaurant. This is the third and newest branch of Sentro 1771, with their other branches in Greenbelt 5 in Makati and at Capital Commons in Ortigas.
The first in modern Filipino cuisine, Sentro 1771 pioneered the concept of playing with our favorite local dishes using a variety of Western and Asian influences. The restaurant comes with beautiful wooden interiors and bright natural lighting, setting up a sophisticated, native feel that’s perfect for hearty dinners and get-togethers.
This branch also has a small private dining area which can host around 20 to 30 guests. The room actually connects to both Flatiron 1771 and Sentro 1771 so it can serve both restaurants depending on the occasion. This is where my friends and I gathered for lunch that afternoon.
I can’t believe that this is only my first time to dine at Sentro 1771, but it couldn’t come with a better group of friends. We started with a few of their Filipino beverages like the Avocado Shake (P150) and the classic Bottomless Sago't Gulaman (P150). They also have other local drinks like the Native Hot Chocolate and original Filipino-style Sentro Cocktails using buko pandan, calamansi, and even sampalok as ingredients.
Sentro 1771 shot to fame with their original Filipino twists to classic dishes. One of these is the Fried Kesong Puti (P420) which comes with native white cheese, breaded and deep-fried until golden brown. This is served with sweet chili guava sauce and garlic dip. These soft and pillowy cheese balls are great appetizers to start with.
There is also the Macao Chorizo and Cheese Tidbits (P380) which are mini spring rolls filled with Macau chorizo, shallots and keso de bola. I love the contrasting textures and flavors of both starters, with this one giving us crunchy and salty bites.
The Rated GG (P550) is one of Sentro 1771′s signature dishes. This can serve as an appetizer or part of the main dishes if you prefer. The galunggong fillets (round scad) are fried in garlic oil and topped with browned garlic, giving it a majestic flavor and aroma. I have never tasted galunggong as good as these!
Aside from its signature favorites, Sentro 1771 also has some new items on the menu like the Shrimp Cracker Salad (P550). This comes with shrimps and singkamas (Mexican turnip) flavored with lemongrass, lime, cilantro and garlic in lime mayo on a bed of shredded lettuce, then served with kropek.
Another new vegetable dish is the Seafood Laing (P580) which is a levelled-up laing that comes with garlic shrimps, fried hito flakes and grilled squid. This seafood and vegetable combination is a healthy dish to have on the table and fortunately, it’s not as spicy as it looks.
The Bangus Pandan (P560) is another one of their new specialties. The bangus or milkfish is wrapped just like a chicken pandan with a stuffing made from miso, tomato, and malunggay grilled with pandan leaves. It’s a cute and different take on the fish that we all love.
Joining their list of signature dishes is the Garlic Steak (P860) with its marinated slices of beef top blade topped with fried garlic bits and garlic butter. This is a steak done the Filipino way, with loads of garlic and simply oozing with flavors.
Don’t forget about their classic Specialty of the House - the Corned Beef Sinigang (P640). I thought that this was just a usual pot of sinigang but I was so pleasantly surprised with how good it was.
The sinigang is a tamarind-based broth mixed with native vegetables and meat or seafood. This hearty dish comes with generous portions of corned beef short plate and boneless beef shanks, cured in-house for 3-5 days, which give it a sour and savoury combination.
This turned out to be my favorite dish that afternoon, especially with the very tender corned beef chunks and the flavorful sour broth. I had to order a plate of white rice just because of the sinigang. I call this a truly elevated Filipino dish.
Of course, this other classic Filipino favorite is always welcome on the table. The Boneless Crispy Trotter (P696), otherwise known as Crispy Pata, is part of every Filipino celebration. The crispy skin just crackles with every savoury bite, and the juicy pork dipped in soy sauce also goes so well with rice.
Time for desserts! The Keso Flan (P230) is a baked, no crust cheesecake served with a slice of queso de bola and red egg. This sweet and indulgent dessert is perfect for the Filipino’s sweet tooth.
You can also try the Fried Suman with Mangoes (P200) which comes with rolled-out suman fried to a light crisp. This is then topped with slices of ripe mangoes and served with sweet coco jam.
One of their most popular desserts is the Coffee Pie (P250) which remains to be the only one of its kind in the metro. This a must have even for non-dessert lovers with its chocolate-cashew crust and coffee fillings topped with cream cheese and toffee sauce. My first ever visit to Sentro 1771 turned out to be such a sweet and satisfying experience because I was able to try some of their best specialties all in one go. Sentro remains to be one of the best places to bring your family and friends, so I will definitely be back here real soon.

@huzhi写道:
DcHTY8b7wIN063zzZu6v=cd3Zh5LRExI8QUpsVEyNR5MG1548131348125compressflag.jpg1080×1073
a5P9unyd5ojY7UJR8VrByE68GsC91nuXTq3=Itiyxr2UU1548131348125compressflag.jpg1080×1746
HJKDtu=BHAar9G5UuQ2hZKykIn7sbfo2lGPfb5d1rn2Cb1548131348125compressflag.jpg1080×1709
5oij5aFrdWGpMCUlS79bIASiXbNsTictoDQhqW=P00rj41548131348193compressflag.jpg1080×1770
qgGAdq4lmIIfYgwVZA8EFZOc4w=JY4FkWbW2VXcYKn5H91548131348193compressflag.jpg1080×608
ZqIrsaquz0WaYhBKp=Ps1pJNDN7TwrdZev79HH9isGpxz1548131348213compressflag.jpg1080×2339
p3l8i6V34AXwstuBo0xYLdduRLv=4CWCLe1bKpcZGmZwM1548131348213compressflag.jpg1080×1564

Belga sees Mighty Sports stint as good preparation for Comms Cup
Having the chance to size himself up against touted Mighty Sports reinforcements, led by a pair of NBA journeymen in 7-foot-3 Hasheem Thabeet and versatile Dominic McGuire, the 6-foot-6 Belga is making the most out of it ahead of the import-laced Commissioner’s Cup that gets going next month.
Kaya early test ko dito sa Dubai Cup,” admitted the Elasto Painters big man on Sunday night when members of the Mighty Sports-Philippines were formally introduced at the Chateau 1771 in Greenbelt 5, Makati City.
One of six active pro players who are loaned to the local club being handled by coach Charles Tiu, Belga added he’s hoping to have a perfect tonic in the week-long Dubai cage tilt following the Elasto Painters’ forgettable campaign in the Philippine Cup as they were eliminated as early as the opening round of the playoffs last week.
More importantly, the Gubat, Sorsogon native intends to keep himself in tip-top shape ahead of the mid-season conference where teams can field an import as tall as 6-foot-10.
So far, Belga is getting what he’s been expecting from Mighty Sports’ imports that also included former Barangay Ginebra reinforcement Justin Brownlee, who helped the Gin Kings stop an eight-year title drought by topping the Governors Cup at the expense of the Meralco Bolts last October.
“So far, marami akong natututunan sa kanila. Mga NBA caliber ‘yan. Madepensahan mo sila, ma-stop mo sila, malaking bagay na. May mga tinuturo rin sila na kailangan mo rin talaga i-apply,” he said.
And Belga could not help but be grateful for the rare chance to suit up for Mighty Sports, whose week-long title campaign is also supported by Rain or Shine and Scratch it!
This is the first time na na-meet ko sila personally,” he said, having exchanged pleasantries with top team officials led by Dr. John Sy and the Wongchuking family.
