the whole 5 works by  chasingcrowns are high school/college aus (or close to it)! i strongly rec home is where the heart is, in which formerly rich Catra loses all of her money, sinks down the social class, moves into a shitty, run-down apartment with Adora Grayskull, and learns that home isn’t always what she thought it was.

Eye of Etheria by motherofchimeras Catra and Adora are on a reality tv show (based on Big Brother). I didn’t know the show but the concept was very easy and it’s a fun fic with a few betrayals :). The author also did a few polls to determine the outcome of which spop character was voted off which was super fun! (Not complete yet)

An Unbroken Promise by pencilxpaper, horde catradora! A Horde Adora AU where Adora stays, and she and Catra have to figure themselves out while the war is going on around them. this one was both fun and emotional

Where the Lonely Ones Roam by glimmerglanger, like i once said, early fandom fics have a charm to them. in which catra saves adora from her martyrdom, leaves, and builds a city. i found this one when looking for Another fic with the almost same plot (which seems to have been deleted :( ). we love to see catra leave and build a city <3

i honestly can't think of a definitive favourite but i really like the touched starved catra series and also there's a kidfic about catradora's early years in the horde that i love too called pack behaviour that's sooo cute and this phone swap au

but mostly if it's in my ao3 bookmarks it's considered a favourite aka 'i love you and i shall keep you forever'

yeah to the other anon the only way i could think of for they know each other but they don't know they know each other (bonus points if they don't like each other in real life) is maybe a pen pal au, soulmate au, or like an online thing

actually!! @chasingcrown has a soulmate au ongoing right now here that fits the "they don't know each other but they do" trope and it's really well written and the perfect balance of fluff and angst so i could not recommend it enough!!

pen pal au sounds spicy though... i'll keep that one in mind
