The classical dynamic that pull me in like a mad person. It’s all about that delicious irony of the evil and vile antagonistic force being the only one who truly understand and obsessed with bringing out the blossoming potential of the young and naive protagonist of the opposite side. “I can fix him” “I can make him worse”. Chase wanted to forced Omi into his folds and principals. Chase care about Omi too much to actually leave him scars in any way. Chase believe in Omi in a way that no one else cannot. Chase doing all of that while staying true to his selfish and tyrannical way until the very end. Evil mentor who actually act and even wanted to be a mentor to this Xiaolin young warrior. They never truly give up on each other, for the better or the worse. Omi get his ego inflated because of Chase. Omi learn true humility because of Chase. Individuals who feels isolated from their peers because of the inferiority complex cause by themselves and others. Chase in one way or another help Omi avoid Chase’s own fate. This is the pinnacle of everything that keep me up at night. Peak protagonist and antagonist dynamics. XC prove that this relationship is the true core of their character development because without it Chase and Omi are just simply horrible people.

Evil!Chase and Evil!Omi

This is the most hypocritical thing Chase had ever done and I love it. Chase is so deep in delulu land and as the same time he isn’t. Omi will join me this Omi will join me that and then he’ll do the brainwashing anyway. Funky little murder monk jumping around his lair. Chase thinks this is completely normal. Omi’s first man hunt yayyyy. Omi’s first time betraying his friends and master yayyyy. Omi first time experiencing the evil that he’s always fight tooth and nail against yayyyyy. Omi’s first time being robbed of his own agency by his own mistakes yayyyyyyy. Imagine knowing that you can’t really convince your self proclaimed student to side with your ideals so you just make a very convoluted plan to brainwashed him and make him loyal to you after by his honor code, couldn’t be me. Evil!Omi is always laughing but there’s nothing but bitterness in their situation, it’s hysterical, it’s vile, I hate and love it so much.

I’m sorry for being mean but we know who will win the custody battle between Chase and Fung. Og Chase is evil and even then people are seriously consider just let Chase raise Omi anyway. With good Chase there isn’t even going to be a competition. He literally kneel down to talk to Omi on eyes level. He’ll throw hands with the most dangerous Heylin warrior to protect Omi. “We’ve never met but I feel like I know you”. Vs Fung who thinks that acknowledging Omi’s need for validation from parental figures for once will make him arrogant. Chase and Omi knew each other for like a day and immediately become generation gap besties. The path that og Chase could have had if only there was someone stopping him from going to the wrong path, the true verdict for Chase’s nobility if fate had given him a chance. It’s the foreshadowing Chase redemption arc that only appears in my dreams because of course season 3 have to be about beans

Kitty!Omi and Dragon!Chase

All I’m saying it if you go back to the fight for Omi’s freedom battle episode, when Chase crawled after Omi to get him and Omi yells the classic sparrow eating hot dog that literally throws Chase of his reptile maniac mode for a second, you can see just before that moment, Dragon!Chase looked like he was actually grab kitty Omi by his own hands. Like, just give the cheese kitty a really bone crushing hug to stop him from starting a revolution against your dictatorship with his friends. We got a doting cat owner in the form of a giant lizard and his rebellious newly acquired cheese kitty who give him headaches but he still love him. I’ve been thinking about that for five years.

This is the real reason why Chase wanted to recruit Omi, only after that did he realized Omi’s potential too. Omi is a dangerous-side-of-nature magnet and Chase is an oversized venomous (figuratively and literally) lizards with an army of carnivorous cats. It just simply what’s going to happen. Nobody can ovoid it. Mother Nature put attracting weird creatures in Omi’s genes.

Annnnnd lastly, my personal favorite dynamic, Good!Chase and Evil!Omi

Long story short, this fine young gentleman have a crazy chihuahua who will bites every one except him. He’s think his chihuahua is the most cutest thing ever. He knows about the bitings tho, but whether he cares or not it’s entirely up to debate. In conclusion pure dose of serotonin for me.

You know our headcanon that good Chase takes in stray cats at the temple? And also our headcanon that Omi doesn't mesh well with normal cutesy animals, but does do well with scarier things?

What if, in the good Chase timeline, one day Omi comes home excitedly telling Chase that he found a new stray for them to take care of, and Chase comes out and sees that Omi is carrying an oddly docile tiger that's bigger than he is.

Goodness that would be a surprise for the members of the temple. Probably scare the bejeesus out of the monks that aren’t Chase, too. But Omi would bring this big kitty home, show em all sorts of love, and maybe even call it Fluffy. None shall stop Omi from bonding with his new big furry friend. And his friend is rather inclined to agree.

Citron: That cat that always wanders the street and people stop to pet on their walk. Nobody's quite sure where he lives, but he's well-groomed, fed, and too friendly to live on his own.

Tenma: Loves you and you know it, but his meow sounds incredibly indignant

Yuki: Never purrs when you pet him and will bite you if you pet him too long, but he's always in the same room as you. Always. Tears his collar off if he doesn't like it's design

Kazunari: Friendliest cat on earth

Muku: Snuggles with a stuffed animal

Misumi: Really likes thumb tacks/push pins and does whatever he can to get them

Eine Spielliste

In den letzten Tagen bzw. Nächten war es mal wieder an der Zeit ... eine Liste musste her. Nicht irgendeine. Eine Spielliste -engl. Playlist - und die sollte nicht weniger enthalten, als alle Songs, die ich in den nun fast 43 Jahren auf meinen Ohren hatte und immer wieder gerne habe. Einige der Stücke sind autobiographisch angehaucht - durch Liebeskummer in der Jugend, tolle Urlaubserlebnisse oder tolle Parties geprägt. Anderes ist einfach so herein geflattert.... und beim Sichten einiger der Texte/Lyrics könnte man zu dem Schluss kommen, ich müsste dringend mal eine Therapie anfangen. It's cute how Chase is constantly gushing to Wuya about Omi even when Omi isn't there. Practically talks her ear off about his tiny apprentice. I love it.

Actually, I'm currently working on a drawing that would present the idea Chase is gushing about Omi to Wuya even at night, not letting her sleep xDDD

I can't say it would be Wuya/Chase roommate au because tbh it's canon xD I was just curious how they put up with each other under the same roof lol

So, I thought that through and came to the conclusion they manage to get on with each other as long as:

Chase lets Wuya watch her favorite shows without interruption. He isn't allowed to tell her any spoilers. If he did that, Wuya most probably would start throwing pillows at him. He's gotta pay for this, y'know?

Wuya can spend Chase's money on new clothes/gadgets from time to time. However, this is only possible once she did her share of chores. (she hates that but she would do anything for the money and Chase's permission to go out without the concern he would complain about it later)

and last but not least! They have a deal they can talk with each other on ANY TOPIC and the other side is not allowed to say anything that would trigger an argument.

That is, if Wuya wants to talk about the show Chase hates, he would listen to her, make a few comments and that's it. If Wuya wants to show Chase what has she bought (with his money lol) he has to keep his mouth shut and patiently go through a long story about sales, shops, and annoying customers.

But as we know both sides of the deal must keep their promises. In exchange for all these material goods (and the possibility to live in a cool evil lair that is simply a paradise) Wuya has to put up with Chase's monologues about cats (any cats tbh. Their discussion is either about Chase's wild cats, which were born as wild cats and their silly antics or several cat species that Chase has remembered in his long life). Each cat description would take 5 pages long so Wuya feels as if she was attending a lecture lol But some of the stories are indeed interesting so she's not complaining. Well, she CAN'T.

However, Wuya's patience is running out every time she hears the first mention of Omi. This man has no boundaries when there are Omi's adoration hours. He won't let Wuya leave the room until he's done talking about Omi.

'But Chase I would like to take a shower first' -Wuya would beg

But the Prince of darkness knows no mercy. - ' No. You have to sit that through. I'll convince you he's a perfect candidate for an apprentice and I'll present my whole curriculum especially designed for Omi's needs.' - Chase responds

Wuya: I know you like him but please it'll take only 15 minutes. Once I'm done, I'm all ears.

Chase, thinking: ... No, later I'm feeding the kitties. We should have that conversation right now.

Wuya, defeated: (sigh) If you must...

The problem is, Chase has bad timing almost always. He can gush about Omi during breakfast or dinner. He could randomly storm into Wuya's room every time she's busy or 'not prepared for guests', that is when she's in the middle of her beauty treatments.... But Chase is the most irritating when he pays her a visit at 4 am. He disregards the fact he has just woken her up. He has approached a tired witch to make her listen. It's his property anyway so he can enter her room whenever he wants. And he makes sure to take an advantage of that! Chase is not a talkative person, but oh boy. It's so hard to make him change the subject or convince him the world doesn't revolve around him and his desire for illegal adoption lol

All in all, Wuya has to pay a certain price for the possibility of living a high life thanks to Chase. Listening to Chase gushing about Omi is a particular sacrifice she has to make!

There is so little known about Chase before drinking the soup. We had only some glimpses revealed in the last XS episode but I have to admit good!Chase struck me as a character. I am aware he was on screen for only a couple of minutes but I can't help but assume he was a very nice person in general. Undoubtedly, he puts his honor in the first place but from the fight with Wuya's golems, we can also see Chase is a focused fighter, who MAYBE enjoys showing off a little too much (but I headcanon everyone from the trio as a show-offs so Boys will be boys I guess)The way he treats Omi (in the past) combined with these few interactions with the rest of the monks proves he's good with kids. I bet he's also compassionate and hospitable in nature. (that hospitality kinda stuck with him even after becoming an evil warlord - there were several instances in the show in which Chase let his enemies stay for a while, and he gave Dojo food, etc)

However, I think it is safe to assume Chase is the most naive in the past dragons' trio. And I'm not entirely basing it on how Chase fell for Bean's tricks. Guan also accepted HB's deal in the alternate timeline. I think it wasn't the case how NAIVE they were to fall for it. The main reason why Chase and Guan became evil resulted from their insecurities and fears mixed up with HB's manipulations. And that led to the decision, which turned their lives upside down.

At this moment I'm not sure how to explain why I think good!Chase is/was naive because to some extent I enforce this certain trait on him due to my desire to have more Omi-Chase parallels. We know NOTHING about Chase's childhood so it's a matter open for interpretation. That's why I do believe Chase was a lot like Omi when he was a kid. Omi tends to trust the wrong people even if someone alarms him it's a bad idea. He helps those in need (when Katnappe broke/or only pretended to break her leg Omi insisted on keeping her until she recovers). Omi is shaken by Dyris' story and provides her with support, a container with water/whatever she needs. Not to mention the countless attempts to help Jack!

So, it would be interesting to see Chase as a child, who does exactly the same as Omi. I see him as that nice kid from the neighborhood, who always helps grannies, is extremely well-mannered, and tries to resolve conflicts between his peers. Unfortunately, his good nature would be taken advantage of, especially by older boys. I would even go with the option: 'bullies made Chase do their errands because they promised to show him a cat and Chase had to learn the hard way some people use deception' or something (yes I had to include Chase's love for kitties. It's a must)

And what if that childhood naivety would even manifest in his early adulthood? If I were to guess what it would look like, I would simply recall that one scene from Samurai Jack (SJ S02E02, to be more precise).

Jack meets a two-headed worm, which orders him to guess which head is the lying one. Jack after a long moment of pondering gives the right answer, but despite his efforts, he gets eaten anyway.

Jack isn't aware he's in a dire situation. He looks about for several seconds, awaiting excitedly for something.

Finally, he asks a simple, yet most innocently-sounding question.

'When does the magic begin?' :D

And the camera expands, showing the viewers there is quite a huge crowd of other victims of the Worm monster. Only then Jack realizes they're all trapped inside Worm's stomach.

Samurai's smile drops and he says: There's no magic, is there? The other folks give him a silent confirmation.

To be honest, the exact scene could be played off during the fall of Atlantis. Several people from the fandom have already suggested Evil Dojo at some point ate Chase so why not make Evil Dojo trick Chase the same way the Worm Monster tricked Jack?

I love this alternative because yet another Chase-Omi parallel comes to life!

During the Atlantis incident, Chase fell for Dojo's cunning and 1500 years later poor Omi experienced the same!

So, yeah the main point of my rambling was to share with you my idea to recreate that particular samurai Jack scene but with evil!Dojo (as two-headed Worm), good!Chase (in place of the Samurai) and these trapped elder people could be residents of Atlantis 😅

We all know Omi's cute, but how would you rank Evil Omi, Cat Omi, and Omi Omi on a scale of relative cuteness? Similarly, rank Good Chase, Evil Chase, and Lizard/Dragon/Whatever Chase on a scale of cuteness or however you define Chase, I'm curious.

Ah... that's tough. But sure! I'll try!

Cutest Omi I think would be evil Omi?

Coming in at number 1 is Heylin Omi, at a 10/10 on the cuteness scale! I love that hyperactivity and the black clothes! Oddly enough, I think the violent urges make him even cuter! What's it called, gap moe? I'm a sucker for it! Plus, whenever he looks confused or surprised with those little white eyes, it's even cuter in contrast! He's certainly not the real Omi since he's missing the most integral parts that make Omi Omi, but he's in my strike zone for sure! Fun to write! Fun to analyze! Tiny, small, ready to brawl!

Coming in at number 2 is the normal Omi we know and love, at a 10/10 on the cuteness scale! He's tiny, he's sweet, he's chaotic, he's confident, he's precocious, he's strong, he's 20 pounds and can benchpress his entire team! It's truly no wonder Chase took one look at him and decided to spend the rest of the show trying to adopt him. The fact that Omi is so loyal and dedicated to good and to his friends that Chase had to cheat and remove half his soul to make him defect makes him even better, that's how stubbornly good Omi is, even when he was having a mounting emotional crisis of confliction for most of season 2. He does his best and is such a kid. He believes in the good in Jack and Chase! This is the Omi little me had a crush on and Omi big me wants to adopt. (Besides, it's a comedic show first and foremost, and he's the one who most consistently gets the laughs outta me.)

Which sadly puts kitty Omi at number 3, at a 10/10 on the cuteness scale! We didn't get to see a lot of this Omi, but I liked the lowkey tsundere-ness of him saying he didn't approve of Chase's actions, but still coming back because he likes to be scratched behind the ears. He's also fun to write, I want to write some kitty shenanigans!

Chase... yeah, sure, we can go with cute. It's a pretty flexible word I think. Chase himself is attractive rather than cute, so if I'm ranking cuteness, I guess I'll rank their cute bonds with Omi? Looks wise, they're all equally hot/attractive, I'd say, he's easily the best looking adult on the show.

Goes in pretty much the same order as Omi, ultimately.

1. Evil Chase

The classic, the first one we're introduced to. I love his schemes and powerplays, and like I said, I'm a sucker for the gap, so seeing evil Chase have cute interactions like patting Omi's head hit so much harder. The mindgames he and Omi play are a lot of fun, and they're also so in-sync in a fight. 10/10

2. Good Chase

Omi being in total awe of Chase, even more than Guan and Dashi, and the two of them clicking right away right after their fight! It shows that their bond is so genuine it transcends time, despite the messiness and complexities of it. In the present time of the alternate timeline, Chase is a little more serious and actually rarely smiles, but he still smiles big when he saves Omi. Still patting Omi on the head and still calling Omi "little one" shows that maybe Omi awakens parts of good Chase in evil Chase that he thought he'd forgotten. 10/10

3. Dragon Chase

Much more emotional and prone to outbursts than Chase in his human form, I loved that scene where he practically screamed "No, you DON'T understand!" and I liked the evil laugh when Omi was turned into a kitty, it's deliciously evil. The soccer match looked sort of silly, but that's fine in my book, and seeing his confusion when Omi invented new moves on the spot was hilarious. 10/10
