The best part of this routine is almost certainly where people did not grow up watching Sanford & Sons and you can tell. You can tell exactly from the laughter not being that kind of oh shit they tried to Redd Foxx 18 police in Louisiana really kind of laughter.
also as a woman who could pay all of her bills if every person on social media who followed her pledged $1 to her patreon and she consistently only gets approximately $45 from her patreon and that is only because Martha Wells wants to make sure that her cats are fed each month, I am laughing but I am also sort of completely on another plane right now existing. like I am not even kidding $2,500 would pay all of my bills and people were out there committing $72,000 worth of check fraud and being shocked when they went to jail because I did it for the lolz on the TikTok did not work for them as a defense strategy? I do not even know what to do with that. I don't even know. Like that is outside my lived experience so completely that it's like telling me that the Earth is flat or they faked the moon landing or some shit.
Hey has tumblr heard about the Chase “Infinite Money glitch” debacle from tiktok yet because

On Morality and Legality
@strkid
I said I would take up the issue of morality and legality separately, as this was posed to me: "Why do you adopt the legal system of the most evil place on earth as some sort of guideline for your own moral beliefs?"
I want to preface this by saying I saw the reply I'm pasting below and it's honestly a good 'in a nutshell' response, but I'll get a bit more general in a moment.
Ok, so as promised, more general commentary here:
Short answer to the question - I don't.
Long answer to the question - I've spent some time when I was younger reading about exactly this kind of thing and a good book that kind of helped solidify my stance on the matter is this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/614699.Ain_t_Nobody_s_Business_if_You_Do
To summarize, a crime cannot be rationally a crime if it is an action you do to yourself. The author calls this a "consensual crime", and obviously what you do to yourself you do with your own consent. (I don't want to get into the weeds too much with this, so for the sake of convenience I'm restricting this category of 'crimes' to those committed by fully competent adults to themselves.)
Okay.
Where the law conflicts with the morality is this: A legal system should, ideally, detect, deter, and/or punish a harm done by a person against another person.
By that foundational logic, murder is obviously a crime, as is rape, assault, and any other thing you do to someone else without their consent. This extends quite obviously to theft, and can, with some effort, extended to purely financial offences such as fraud.
This also means that it is an obvious absurdity to make drug use a crime since it is a thing you do to yourself and not someone else.
But take note of an omission: It is entirely legal to fail to do something and yet allow harm to come to someone.
The law as generally written conceives of active harms but not passive ones as a general rule.
This means, for example, that you can stand on a street corner, watch someone rob someone else, and do nothing to stop it and you will have committed no crime - no harm - in the eyes of the law.
However any thinking, decent person in the world would argue that alone is not sufficient; morally and ethically, you are obliged to try and stop the crime if you can.
And that is why it is incorrect to make the claim that I use a legal system as a guideline for my morality: because I don't think adhering to the strict letter of the law is sufficient to guide my actions with respect to other human beings.
"Okay, but a bank - a corporation - was involved! Legally it's not a natural person, so there!"
True, but it can be worked out that theft of money from a bank ultimately has to be paid for in some way - ideally in less profit for the shareholders, but that's not really what happens. Instead, worker wages get reduced, or the taxpayer has to subsidize the loss through deposit insurance.
And this can still be considered a harm - very indirect, but it's there. The morality of the way a bank treats people aside, the legality of the bad check ATM deposits is pretty open and shut.
A tangential discussion follows under the cut:
I'm going to address the term "evil place" with respect to the USA separately and argue that, prima facie, that is a gross exaggeration. By certain metrics, the United States' politico-economic structure hurts the poor more than other countries' systems do, but that only truly holds water when comparing across most other high and middle income countries. It utterly fails in comparison to Russia or China, to cite two examples of countries whose regimes are embroiled in ongoing severe human rights violations and a gross abuse of population surveillance.

I just saw this on TikTok so about the Chase Bank “money glitch”
You cannot withdraw hundreds/thousands/millions from your own bank account at an ATM and then close the account
That is called wire fraud
You also cannot write a false cheque and cash it into your account, and withdraw than money
That is cheque fraud
This is not “infinite money”
You will be blacklisted from banks and JP Morgan will get your ass in jail and will hunt you to get their money back
It’s very inconvenient not being able to own a bank account in the digital age

I feel like the "Chase infinite money glitch" and TikTokkers calling people in real life "NPCs" are part of the same phenomenon. Just a sort of mass de-realization of reality.

The whole "Chase infinite money glitch" thing has me wilding. When the government does this, it's called a budget deficit. When you do it, you go to jail.
there's a few differences there, but you're not entirely wrong there

I have sort of made fun of Eisenberg’s philosophy as a quirk of crypto, but I guess that’s not really right. It’s a quirk of music streaming platforms too, and online advertising markets, and financial markets. Basically much of modern economics, and life, has the following characteristics:
1 Everything is intermediated through some depersonalized automated electronic exchange. 2 The automated electronic exchange has a mechanism — how it actually works, what the exchange’s software allows you to do — and also rules, the terms of service regulating how you can use the mechanism, which are fuzzier than the mechanism and written in small print, things like “don’t do fraud” or “you have to be a human” or whatever. 3 The mechanism is much more legible and salient than the rules, and in a depersonalized electronic world people treat the mechanism as the rules: They don’t believe that the rules exist, because the rules seem to contradict how the service works. The basic description of Spotify’s mechanics suggests Smith’s alleged arbitrage; if he didn’t do it surely someone else would.
Everything is like this. We talked last week about the “infinite free money Chase ATM glitch,” in which people on TikTok discovered that if they wrote themselves a fake check and deposited it in an ATM and then withdrew the money, they’d have “free money.” Everyone used to know that (1) one way to get free money was to write a fake check and trick someone into cashing it but (2) that was obviously a crime. But now you don’t have to trick anyone into cashing the check: You just go to a machine and put the check into the machine, and if the machine gives you back money then surely that’s just how the machine is supposed to work?

I don’t use TikTok bc I think it would decimate any attention span my ADHD brain has left, but I NEED to have people fill me in on all the drama, like
“Hey did you hear that people on TikTok think they found a “glitch” in Chase Bank that lets them print infinite money with no repercussions by doing the Federal Crime Of Check Fraud and posting videos of them doing this crime?”
say more immediately!!! I am not going on that app but that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard!!!!
Calling it a glitch is the best; I’m forced to imagine people treating it like finding a the item duplication bug in animal crossing, but it’s again, the Federal Crime Of Check Fraud! Like “found a bug that lets Chase bank users print infinite money with no tracing or repercussions! I hope the federal government doesn’t patch it out in the next policy hotfix!”
I mean as always be careful on the internet and if something seems too good to be true it probably is, but that being said, I am SO in on these ridiculous stories of grown-ass TikTok adults being stupid enough to post themselves doing a crime on their platforms. Keep it up, icons!!
#shpeaks#again i wont get on the app but i simply must hear all these stories#if you hear about a ridiculous event on TikTok and don’t tell me I will be SO sad

(Article) Going back to Cyberpunks Night City never felt so great.
Alright. I had my reservations about Cyberpunk 2077s Update 2.0. But after completing Act 1 in one sitting last night, I can honestly say that this is the best time to hop back in and play through it all again. If you haven't played it, then NOW is the time.
It's been 2 years, 10 months, and 12 days since this game first cursed our screens with a disappointing buggy mess of a game. From top to bottom, exploits and balance issues were terrible. From item duplication to infinite money glitches, from terrain pop in and out to litteral skyscrapers disappearing. You name it, Cyberpunk had it.
However, even with all the issues it had, the foundation was there. But the house needed a remodel, an interior decorator, and time for them to fix it. As in every remodel, it will never have a straight line to completion. You start with the big stuff first as they make the game playable, then move on to the smaller things like the combat, skill trees and everything else.
When this game was at its best and running smoothly, it was stunning, graphically insane. The writing and the voice acting were equally as impeccable. It all came down to how it ran. At launch, I couldn't recommend this game to anyone. Now, with this update, I can recommend this game to everyone.
With fresh eyes on it and expectations lowered by a lot right from the jump, the game somehow looks better than I remember, which I didn't think would be entirely possible. The dialog, as outlandish as it is, was delivered excellently. The details in their face match perfectly to their tone when they are happy or sad, they are hiding contempt or malice it all matches.
The combat has also been a spot of large improvement. Whether you're going in guns blazing, stealth around and pick your enemies one by one, or just be a futuristic tech ninja using hacking and a katana to slice through your foes it all works and is a viable strategy. Sure, some enemies can feel like bullet sponges, but the improved feedback, recoil, sound, and muzzle flash all make it feel like you're really the one pulling the trigger.
The police in Night City also increased their budget size. They have been equipped with tactical training and AI to better combat the "Thugs" of Night City. They will also be setting roadblocks, shooting out their windows, and chasing you down all over the city. Even the slightest infraction will set them off, so be careful with the boot licking pigs. However, if you are looking into some car chases and vehicular combat sounds fun, make sure you check out the all new vehicle mounted weapons you can equip to cause maximum mayhem.
Now, let's get to just a couple of things that I still don't like. Vehicles still seem floaty. You'll be going 90 mph, but it still only feels like 20. I also experienced severe frame drops here and there. Usually, it only occurred during maximum load or set circumstances, like when walking up to the mirror to look at yourself or getting into an elevator or two.
My stance hasn't changed. I still think the new Phantom Liberty expansion should be free. But having the game play this good is something that every company whose game released... less than ideally should strive for. I'm proud to say that this game is worth every penny.
Has this article changed your mind? Do you plan on hopping in again? Or the first time? Want to talk anything gaming? Let me know! I stream every weekday, 8pm-12am. The link is below. I'd love to see you there!

Just had a weird ass dream and I kinda gotta document it, especially considered I don't regularly have dreams.
Ok so this is a lil out there but remember that old Toy Story 3 video game for Xbox 360? Remember the "open world" toy box mode? OK so like I guess the game had an update or something, right?
I'm playing normally, in the part of the map you unlock after breaking the dam, and bandits show up. Now, in the game your meant to stop them from stealing your money from the bank or breaking out of jail.
OK so in this update, the bandits would now... blow a hole in the wall??? I'm not sure, but anyways now they have like an escape route you can follow instead of just hopping into wells to run away.
So I chase them, but as soon as i get to the wall, it closes up on me. Damn, I must've not been fast enough. But whats this? Part of the update must've added a new area to explore in that spot, as the previous hole was now a breakable wooden barrier. So I break it and THIS is kinda the weird part.
As you walk in there's a room with a couple different doors, with signs above them showing you what's behind them, kinda like the raceway area. One of them is a stock photo of like a brackets lineup, so I enter it.
The room is dark and misty. Theres... weapons on the floor. They look like Fortnite weapons, with the purple and green colors to match. Except the weapons aren't actual weapons, but NINJA TURTLE WEAPONS???
SO I SHIT YOU NOT, with the fortnite hud with an already filled inventory, I grab two weapons quickly, and I think their like the nunckucks and whatever the fuck Ralph fights with.
Now, it gets fascinating. Out comes, well honestly I don't even remember but I THINK is was like a generic robot that looks kinda like the mini Guardians from BotW. And I shit you not, it then basically became a Test of Strength, were the WHOLE POINT was last minute evading a bot, and counter striking 3 times until it died.
This repeated a few times.
But this wasn't the end, no no sweet reader. For my mind literally came up with an after credits esc scene. So there I am, riding Bullseye in the open world area, and the game goes to SHIT. Bullseye like glitches the fuck out and disappears, only to return moments later but now looking like that fucking seahorse from the one SpongeBob episode.
So I THINK that part was, once again IN MY BRAIN, justified as a new update, like an underwater expansion with a seashore Bullseye to boot. And by having Seahorse Bullseye on the surface, the game glitches the fuck out.
Assets like the surrounding area just DISAPPEAR, they like go grey and lose their textures, you can see the sky box, all that shit right. And then straight out of Sonic fucking 06, Bullseye got stuck doing one move over and over that resulted in him continously and infinitely raising into the sky, as the world broke around me.
I woke up shortly afterwards.
#tldr#so basically my brain had a fever dream that combined the following#toy story 3 the game#fortnite ninja turtles update#botw fighting mechanics#sonic 06 glitches#no i was not on drugs#clockwise documents his dreams

Jokes 10/31/24
Today is Halloween and as scary as this holiday is, next week’s Presidential Election is easily the new scariest holiday.
JP Morgan Chase announced it’ll be seeking legal action against its customers who attempted what was referred to as “An infinite money glitch,” but was actually just check fraud. A representative from the bank followed up by adding, “Anyone dumb enough to commit fraud as part of a TikTok trend needs to be taken off the streets for everyone’s safety.”
Ballot boxes in 3 states were set on fire in the last week. Just like that old saying goes, if you can’t beat them, join them. And if you really don’t want to join them just do arson.
Vice President Harris announced today that she’ll be spending election night at Howard University, the historically black college she’s an alumna of. Meanwhile, Trump will not be holding his campaign at his alma mater because that’s in Philadelphia, a city that famously hates him.
North Korean soldiers have been deployed to aid Russia in their invasion of Ukraine. The soldiers are expected to have a bit of culture shock as they see a higher quality of life in war-torn Ukraine compared to just normal life in North Korea.
Actor-turned-politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President. Schwarzenegger said he’s endorsing Harris instead of Trump because he often experiences rational thinking.
A new economic study was released this week showing inflation is decreasing and the economy is doing well, but if you ask Republicans about the positive economic study they’ll tell you how migrants will kill your family.
Bob’s Burgers voice actor Jay Johnson has been sentenced to a year in prison for his part in the riot at the Capitol on January 6th. Now if he had been more famous as a live action actor he could have probably turned this into a Fox News show.
Conservatives are criticizing actress Julia Roberts for a recent ad for Vice President Harris where women are encouraged to vote how they want to instead of how their husbands want them to vote. Man, do they hate it when women are allowed to have opinions.
Actor Timothee Chalamet shocked fans by showing up to a Timothee Chalamet look-alike contest in New York City this week. Fans were taken aback by Chalamet’s appearance because they didn’t think he needed the money so bad.

JPMorgan Chase has begun suing customers who allegedly stole thousands of dollars from ATMs by taking advantage of a technical glitch that allowed them to withdraw funds before a check bounced.
On Monday, the bank filed lawsuits in at least three federal courts, taking aim at some of the people who withdrew the highest amounts in the so-called infinite money glitch that went viral on TikTok and other social media platforms in late August.
A Houston case involves a man who owes JPMorgan $290,939.47 after an unidentified accomplice deposited a counterfeit $335,000 check at an ATM, according to the bank.
JPMorgan, the biggest U.S. bank by assets, is investigating thousands of possible cases related to the "infinite money glitch," though it hasn't disclosed the scope of associated losses. Tap the link in bio for full details.

Those golden few days of “the Chase glitch” are a flashpoint in dumb social media lore. Intentionally writing a bad check with the goal of stealing money is one of the most obvious frauds imaginable, and even better, it’s a fraud against an ultrapowerful bank that has the customer’s name, address, and Social Security number. Some people racked up lots of debt trying it, though we’ll never know how many or how much. Next week, there will be a new dumb thing. While the Chase episode was a harmless bit of fun for most of us, it’s troubling that TikTok has become the most efficient engine in human history for the conversion of crooked, hopeless financial advice into a cool money hack that could change your life.
There’s nothing harmless or fun to the degree that social media mis- and disinformation can play havoc with people’s lives and society’s functioning. People who cannot repay what they stole will no doubt be pursued for bank fraud. Think of all the illegal activity Telegram hid from investigators (save those persecuting Russian political dissidents, it seems). Platforms should be responsible for the content posted to them, if that content has the potential for so much malign influence. I am coming to the conclusion that Section 230 should be repealed for social media companies. They should at least be civilly liable for real-world harms caused by their inability to effectively police what is promoted on their platforms.
