Why are they so few photos of Noel and Sally next to each other on their nights out? It looks like they're going to great lengths not to be photographed together.

Which was totally understandable on their early dates. But after a year?

Initially I figured it was to make the photos less newsworthy. But there are a few photos of them actually walking together and they hardly made the front page! They got no more media attention than the photos of them arriving/leaving separately.

Because she’s little more than a friend and his current “date” for social occasions? So they’re usually not photographed arriving or leaving together because they DON'T – they arrive/leave separately?!

Interested in what you think could explain the oddness!

Olá, sobre as fotos deles andando juntos em maio e que não receberam tanto destaque quanto as que eles estão andando separados agora, acho que a volta do Oasis gerou mais interesse sobre a vida amorosa do Noel, pois o divórcio dele da Sara e o pagamento de 20 milhões de Libras que ela recebeu é creditado por muitos veículos de mídia como o motivo do retorno da banda. Por isso a mídia (e principalmente o público) esteja mais interessada sobre as esposas e namoradas de Noel. Essa poderia também ser uma desculpa pra eles estarem sendo fotografados separados, para tentar diminuir o assédio da imprensa... mas honestamente? Não acho que seja o caso.

Os dois já tem mais de 50 anos e são bem cientes de como funciona a mídia britânica. Apesar de caro, o divórcio do Noel não foi polêmico, nada demais saiu na imprensa e sequer sabemos oficialmente os reais motivos do divórcio, com o Noel basicamente dizendo que eles "se cansaram um do outro", e 20M mais a mansão de Hampshire de 8M (aliás, dizem que essa mansão na verdade ficou com Noel e Sara ficou com a casa em Ibiza) não somam nem metade da fortuna do Noel que era estimada em 70 milhões de Libras! Portanto, Noel e Sally, que só assumiram o namoro mais de um ano depois do anúncio da separação de Noel e Sara, não teriam motivos pra se preocupar com alguma imagem negativa sobre eles. Eles são divorciados, tem a mesma faixa-etária, tem vidas financeiras estáveis... então porque estão andando separados?

A única explicação que vejo é que eles são apenas bons amigos! Não há nenhuma paixão e muito menos amor envolvido, é nítido que não tem sentimentos de casal entre eles. Acho que eles estão saindo juntos por amizade e conveniência. É conveniente pro Noel ser visto com uma mulher elegante e de sua faixa-etária, mostra que ele não está "abandonado" após o divórcio e que não é o típico rockstar "depravado" que sai com mulheres muito mais novas.

Quando Noel foi ligado pela mídia à Dorothea Gundtoft e Charlotte Carter-Allen (ambas na faixa dos 30 anos) vi várias pessoas no twitter uk e nos comentários do Daily Mail criticando Noel por "trocar sua esposa de anos por uma mulher mais nova", embora saibamos que Noel nem queria se divorciar e a separação foi iniciativa de Sara! Mas pro grande público, se um rockstar esta se divorciando deve ser por culpa dele (até porque o primeiro divórcio de Noel realmente foi porque ele queria outra mulher um pouquinho mais nova que sua esposa Meg). A única publicidade ruim que Noel não quer ter é aquela que desdenha de seu caráter. Ele não liga de ser conhecido como arrogante, narcisista e ranzinza, mas ele não quer ser conhecido como um "traidor" de esposas ou um rockstar velho que persegue mulheres jovens. (só lembrando: ele não gosta de ter esse tipo de fama, agora se ele realmente não faz essas coisas... isso já não posso afirmar!)

Sobre Sally não tenho certeza de quais vantagens ela teria. Talvez a de poder se divertir em jantares caros pagos pelo Noel e de dizer para os amigos (e para seu ex-marido) que ela também não está sozinha após o divórcio e ainda fisgou uma celebridade!

Eu poderia considerar que ambos, por serem bons amigos há anos e fazerem o tipo um do outro (eu acho), tentaram elevar essa amizade a um namoro. Mas esse tipo de tentativa só ocorre bem no começo de qualquer relação, em 1 ano já era para eles terem certeza do que querem, se é namoro ou amizade! Eu acho que eles tentaram ser um casal ano passado e não deu muito certo, e depois tentaram mais uma vez esse ano e não deu certo de novo, então eles decidiram ser só amigos, mas optaram por não comunicar isso pra imprensa, e deixar rolar até onde der a história de que eles são um casal de namorados.

Neo Gothic: The Bibliography

These are meanings/refernces made in Neo Gothic, for those who may not have delved into the genre asmuch as they'd like...

This post is in reference to my series 'Neo Gothic' and as such some definitions are written towards to context of the story, this isn't a fool proof guide to the gothic, only a guide for my readers.

References are in order of their mention, starting with part 1. Some are my definitions, other are from the internet.

The Gothic: A literary genre that combines Romance and Horror, Characterized by horror, Mystery, and gloom. Solidified as a genre by Horace Walpole, author of The Castle of Otranto.

Dracula: 1897 Cult Gothic Novel about vampire Dracula, who haunts a group from London, trying to turn or kill them.

Lucy Westenra: Mina Harker's best friend in Dracula, She is fed on, then turned, and eventually killed by the group. She was considered promiscuous due to her many suitors. She is given blood transfusions, however we now know the science behind these transfusions are outdated. She is finally killed in her vampiric form by beheading and a stake through the heart.

Carmilla: 1872 Predesscor of Dracula, it follows an isolated young woman who befriends a woman who turns out to be the vampire who has been drinking from her breast for years...

Carmilla (Character): An ancient vampire, often interpretated as a lesbian. In the novel, her death is achived by finding her resting place (her tomb), beheading her, and driving a stake through her heart.

Ann Radcliffe: Gothic author, known as 'The Enchantress', she published many acclaimed gothic novels in her time, including The Mysteries of Udolpho, she also wrote many essays that were published after her dath that have become acclaimed for their insight.

Rosemary's Baby: 1968 horror film directed by Roman Polanski, following a woman who is being victimised by a satanic cult.

The Exorcist: 1973 film directed by William Friedkin, following a girl who is possesed by an ancient demon.

Creed (Barbra): Professor of Cinema Studies, wrote collection of essays named "Monsterous-Feminine: Film, Feminism, Psychoanlysis"

Abjection: subjective horror, or someone's reaction to physically or emotionally disturbing subject matter

The Yellow Wallpaper: 1892 Novella by Charlotte Perkins Gillman, follows the descent into maddness of a victorian woman perscribed a "rest cure"

Dracula (character death): He is beheaded and stabbed through the heart, afterwards turning to dust.

The Castle of Otranto: 1764 novella by Horace Walpole, tricks reader into beleiving it is a true story of an ancient catholic family in italy, who are victim to spiritual haunting due to their transgressions.

Castle of Otranto Death: At the start of the novel, Manfred's (The villian) son is about to marry the virtuous Isabella, however in a tragic turn of events, he is crushed to death by a giant suit of armour, the helmet becoming stuck.

Frankenstein: 1818 Novella by Mary Shelley, follows Victor Frankenstein in his abjection after playing god, and bringing life to mixture of corpses.

Annabelle Lee (poem): explores the theme of the death of a beautiful woman. The narrator, who fell in love with Annabel Lee when they were young, has a love for her so strong that even angels are envious

Raven: Inspired by the poem, 'The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe

Terror: Psychological fear, feeling like you're being watched/Thinking you heard noise.

Horror: The physcial reaction to fear, a scream, the unsettling shake when you're scared.

Sanguinary/Sanguination: involving or causing much bloodshed.

Sanguinary Rosebud: Reference to Angela Carter's short story "Lady in The House of Love"

Sublime: The state of all striking awe of the natural world.

Gothic Heroine: The gothic heroine is often characterised by her lack of agency or control in her situation. Often in a vulnerable position, she is often targeted by the immoral.

Naturalist: naturalism, in literature and the visual arts, late 19th- and early 20th-century movement that was inspired by adaptation of the principles and methods of natural science, especially the Darwinian view of nature, to literature and art.

Byron: Lord Byron was a romantic poet in the 19th century, well known for his sexual escapades.

Dr Bell: Bell was the last name used in the Pseudonmys that that Bronte sisters shared when publishing.

Dr. Purcell: one of sheridan Le Fanu's pseudonmys

Quarles: One of Edgar Allen Poe's pseudonmys
