🧥 6 Monate Klamotten-Konsumstreik 🧦

Vom 01. Juli bis 31. Dezember 2024 habe ich den Kauf von Klamotten bestreikt. Es wird Zeit für ein kleines Resümee.

👖 Warum?

Hauptmotivation war die Umwelt. Ich bin eh schon ziemlich minimalistisch, aber irgendwie hat die Idee meinen Ehrgeiz gekitzelt.

👚 Wieso 6 Monate?

Ein Monat war zu kurz, 3 Monate ist kaum eine Herausforderung, 1 Jahr war mir zu lang.

👞 Was sind die Regeln?

Ich kaufe keine Klamotten oder Schuhe, weder neu noch Second Hand. Ausnahmen gibt’s für kaputt gegangenes.

👗 Fazit

Es war erstaunlich befreiend. Ich hab oft online nach interessanten Sachen geschaut, war aber irgendwie erleichtert, die nicht kaufen zu „können“.

Abgesehen von einer Wollleggins habe ich tatsächlich nix gekauft.

In meinem Tagebuch führe ich seitdem eine Liste mit Datum, Gegenstand und Begründung für neue Klamotten und Schuhe. Einige Artikel haben sich schon wieder erübrigt, andere haben den Test bestanden.

Als netten Nebeneffekt habe ich deutlich mehr Augenmerk auf meinen bestehenden Kleiderschrank geworfen, einiges repariert (diverse Löchlein in Wollpullis), besser gepflegt (endlich richtiges Waschmittel für Seide) oder auch entsorgt (drei Paar Schuhe).

Ich habe Second Hand-Läden in meiner Stadt recherchiert und freue mich darauf, meinen Kleiderschrank mit einigen wohlüberlegten Stücken zu ergänzen. Eigentlich kann ich shoppen nicht besonders leiden, aber jetzt fiebere ich darauf hin.

Ich bin fast ein bisschen traurig, dass es vorbei ist ... Also klare Empfehlung, es selbst mal zu versuchen!

If we get Siegfried x Audrey (🤞) it might be interesting to see his reaction (hopefully supporting his mother)

Edward's interactions on a personal level with his mum, Siegfried, Tris and James (will he be "one of the lads"?), Helen etc.

Your hobbies are here to help you decompress and have fun. They do not have to be disciplines you toil over for expertise, unless that is something you genuinely enjoy doing.

It’s okay to enjoy language-learning without ever becoming fluent, or even conversational. It’s okay to like playing guitar even if you only know a few clumsy songs. You can read books and never finish them, bowl without ever scoring even halfway to perfect. We’re here to explore and play, and we cannot do that if we’re chasing perfection in everything we do.

I turn 30 next month so here’s what I learned in my 20s:

—don’t work for startups, they’re always one ‘innovative idea’ away adding ‘sell your kidneys on the black market’ to your job description.

—keeping a collection of basic OTC medicine on you will save your life one day. I recommend Advil, Imodium, and TUMS.

—those little single-use glasses cleaning wipes are 1000% worth the money

—overly self-depreciating jokes just make people uncomfortable, wean yourself off of them

—you can buy dehydrated mini marshmallows in bulk online and they’re a godsend for hot cocoa

—people don’t care if you have fidget toys on your desk they just want to play with them

—try to go to bed BEFORE the existential ennui kicks in

A little heartbroken by the news, not going to lie.

But I'm going to keep creating for this fandom, because the characters have made a place in my heart, and I suspect they'll stay there for a good long while. This show and the fandom have been such a joy to partake in during a really rough time in my life, and I appreciate that more than I can say. I appreciate all of you who make the fandom what it is, too.

I guess in the end, Season 2 gets to be whatever we make it. So you know what? Let's all share our Season 2s. Nobody's going to stop us or tell us we're wrong.

So here we go. The Season 2 in my heart, in no particular order:

Desire shows up and puts Charles Rowland through the absolute wringer. He is losing his entire mind, he wants Edwin so bad. This boy has 17 different crises and finally a realization that he has been head over heels for some decades and he is just an idiot, actually

Payneland confession and a first kiss

They get Niko back from the Neitherlands. She's some flavor of undead, and she is having a grand old time, actually

Jenny sets up a butcher shop in London and goes on a date that doesn't try to kill her. With the Night Nurse

Crystal has a corruption arc with David buried in her soul-tree soil and at first they don't realize what's going on, but in the end the boys find a way to go into her heart-space and help her resolve the problem

The boys dance on-screen with some of those skeleton choreography dances

Mick mysteriously also has a shop in London. It straddles time-space and also realms. The characters are all ????? but no one ever figures out wtf is going on with that

Tragic Mick saves the day like a big damn hero with a bazooka like in the comics

The Cat King is around, generally being his trickster self, causing problems for funsies. He dies again and comes back as a fluffy white cat with glam white fur clothes

Charles gets kidnapped somewhere and Edwin has to go and save him. It's very dramatic and parallels S1 Ep7

Monty makes a showing in crow form. He has so many cute bird mannerisms. He gets fluffy in the London cold

The boys return to St. Hilarion's. They find their respective remains and come to terms with their deaths. They decide that, however tragic their deaths were, it led them to the only place they'd want to be: together

Crystal and Niko lay the boys to rest side by side, under the same headstone

Here's a nice story I learned in the Norwegian ski museum:

In 1895, polar explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Hjalmar Johansen were having a bad time. Their expedition had faced some hardships and they were forced to stay on Franz Josef Land in a little hut they built out of mud and stones. In their hut, they slept for circa 20 hours a day, and spent the remaining four hours watching the northern lights or reminiscing about the comforts of home and the books they had read.

After several months of this, and nine months of sleeping in the same sleeping bag to stay warm, on New Year's Eve, Nansen finally gathered his courage and asked Johansen if they should start adressing each other with the informal you.

This is where the story ended in the museum, so unfortunately, I can't tell you whether Johansen answered yes or no.

Marginally, Lew recognizes how the other man raises his hand to touch Lew's shoulder. What begins as a gentle touch soon becomes a soothing rub. They stare at each other, not daring to move, while Dick's hand ever so slightly creeps closer and closer toward Lew's neck. The artillery fire in the Ardennes doesn't even come close to the fireworks currently going off in Lew's stomach. Dick's eyes flicker to Lew's lips and the other man wonders whether he's dreaming this scene right here. Dick's hand moves towards Nix's cheek, his fingers gently weaving into Lew's hair, his thumb cautiously stroking the stubble on the other man's face.
