Devilish Worries and Bodies
Pairing: Matt Murdock x F (afab) reader Word count: 3.3K Warning/note: 18 + MDNI, mentions of anxiety/mental health/worries, and smutty smut smut! P in V intercourse. Some fluff. No description physical description of reader other than afab. Not proofread! Please validate me and this self-indulgent fic, sad girl era is thriving.
************************************************************************
Matt had already come home after a long day of fighting for justice through the legal, sophisticated, respectable way of the courts as the good samaritan lawyer for the voiceless and defenceless of Hell’s Kitchen. And then endured a long night of fighting for justice through the illegal, frowned-upon way of his vigilante persona, Daredevil. He’d come home, you’d helped him clean up the couple of cuts he had and he’d gone to bed now. He was sleeping peacefully, he looked like an angel as his eyes were closed and no worries were etched into his face.
He had been in a deep slumber by the time you left the bed, he was yet to notice. You hadn’t been able to sleep at all, and it wasn’t his fault that that was the case. You were now sitting on the sofa in the living room that felt even greyer and colder than usual. Everything felt so cold, you almost wondered if your vision was acting up. You just needed some rain outside and you’d be in Catherine Hardwicke’s blue-green-tinted world of Twilight.
You had a glass of water in your hands that was now room-temperature because you’d been sitting there so long. Holding it. Thinking. Thinking about just tipping the glass of water out onto yourself, because why not? Then that image would replay over and over. Then you’d sip from it. Somehow. Lower it. Back to holding and then back to thinking. It was still pretty full at this stage.
Staring out the window into the numerous lights that appeared to float mid-air, parallel to the sky at different points. You couldn’t see any stars, you hated that. At least if there were stars you’d have some luck of counting them, maybe trying to name some of them, in an attempt of some distraction technique you told yourself that a normal person could do. Then you thought a normal person probably wouldn’t even to do this. The voice in your head that said it, was mean, it was the kind of a high school bully which made you feel even worse. You let out a deep sigh and choke on a little sob that you didn’t know had been wanting to come out.
That’s the noise that wakes Matt up, he stretches out in the bed you share as he lets out a quiet but deep yawn as he tiredly rubs his eye. He moves a hand through his sleep-toussled hair as he immediately realises that you’re not in bed with him. He sighs as he focuses on the elevated heartbeat of yours he can hear drumming along further in the apartment. He immediately knows something is up, when he’d originally come home he thought something might’ve been bothering you as you seemed slightly detached but he’d been able to write it off as you just being tired because it was extremely late when he’d come home after a patrol. He couldn’t write this off as early hours fatigue though. He knew you, down to the core, even when you didn’t want to be perceived.
Matt gets up and slowly walks out of the bedroom with gentle footsteps, he could’ve been a ballerina in another lifetime. He’s so quiet with his movement after years of practice that you don’t notice he’s out of bed until he’s standing just a few steps away from the couch.
It’s when you get the feeling of goosebumps on the back of your neck and that feeling that somebody is watching you that you start to wonder. You’re not sure though if it’s just depressed paranoia that makes you feel like somebody is watching, Matt had absolutely passed out, he should be in a deep sleep still you think. But you try to slow your breathing and not given into the urge to look and further panic, but you think that if someone was behind you it’s better to look and know that there is or that you’re not just feeling depressed but also paranoid.
With a sigh after a sharp inhale you slowly turn your head and look, you see Matt standing there. He’s just a couple of steps away from you, he’s facing you and well… he’s not just facing you, he’s analysing you. You look at him with tears in your eyes as you know he’s doing a full scan of your senses.
Matt steps closer immediately and sits on the sofa right next to you as the first tear has just dropped. You’re not sure if it’s because he can hear the tear dropping out of your tear duct to run down your cheek, or if it’s because he can smell the extra stress hormones or something in these emotional tears.
“I thought you were asleep.” You whisper hoarsely, almost feeling ashamed at this scene happening.
“I was.” He says gently as he raises his hand to your cheek and then he gently rubs your cheek, wiping up the few tears had already shed.
“I didn’t mean to wake you. I’m sorry-” Now it’s guilt as well.
“Don’t apologise.” He quickly cuts you off in a gentle tone.
He’s caring but he says it so nonchalantly, like this is normal. He’d spent a day working with clients, then he’d had a violent patrol and now you having a mini-breakdown interrupted his sleep. You felt bad and you knew that maybe you shouldn’t because you’re a human and you’re entitled to a cry and love and understanding. And all those things. But brains aren’t logical, and they sure as hell aren’t when you’re going through the emotions. You sigh as you look at his face, seeing the compassion and adoration.
“Are you going to talk to me, beautiful?” He whispers with a gentle, playful smile. He’s trying to ease this. Diffuse the anxiety.
“It’s just overwhelming. There’s a lot of mental noise and I’m struggling to not spiral-because well I’m already spiralling and nothing feels good. I’m not good. I’m just not good.” You spit out.
He quickly pulls you into his arms and your face is pressed against his warm bare chest. You can’t help but let out a soft sigh of relief and bury your head further into his chest. It’s so comforting and even when you’re a mess, he still somehow knows how to comfort you.
“Maybe you’re not good, and you’re just great instead.” He whispers as he starts to caress your back gently, he seems to be almost tracing an invisible pattern as he does. “That’s how I feel about you. Other days you may be good. It’s been bad before, it’s been good before. It can feel good again, honey. And it will.”
You sigh and tilt your head to look at him as you move more into his lap and adjust yourself to be more physically comfortable. You trust him, you love him, you believe him but you’re not sure if you believe him more than the disbelief you have in yourself.
Matt seems to sense this hesitation in you. “Five things you see?” He asks softly as his head is tilted to face you, he’s focusing on you because you’re his whole world.
“Um…” You inhale and start to look around as you think. “Your face…” You say and almost chuckle, he smiles that charming grin widely and chuckles. “Good, what else.”
You look around and think. “The window… The couch… that plant in the ugly pot my cousin gave us.” You say and you both smile at that. You had to describe in detail the absolute atrocity of the pot to Matt when had been gifted to you both and it was now a bit in your relationship.
“Good, good, not so good.” He chuckles with the smile that’s slowly distracting you from your worries. “One more thing.” “Um, the light.” You say quietly.
“Four things you can feel.” He says and you can’t help but chuckle. “Well, you, I guess, and four different parts of you.” You say as you look at him as your cheeks heat up.
“Sure, I’ll give you that one.” He says playfully. “Do I feel good?” He then asks teasingly. It makes you roll your eyes and chuckle.
“Yeah.”
“So something feels good.” He says with a proud smirk.
“Don’t use my words back at me, like that.” You say as you watch him smile. “Mm, don’t say them then, pretty thing.” He says proudly and he chuckles and kisses your lips softly with a little peck. “Now should I keep going with the grounding and distraction technique?”
“I don’t know-”
“Why, are you in your body and out of your head enough?” He asks with a smirk as he caresses your back.
“Maybe. You’re pretty good at that.” You say, he is. He’s so good at reassuring you and bringing you back to Planet Earth and away from the galaxy of overthinking and mental black holes.
You lean against him and press a soft gentle kiss to his collarbone as he’s so close to you. All of him is, he’s enveloping you. He lets out a quiet little groan at that, that he tries to muffle but you catch it. You look up at him and bite your lip.
You move slightly and caress his strong arms gently. “Honey, are you sure? You’re… Well you’ve been upset…” He says softly. He means it.
“Yeah, but I’m feeling better now. And maybe the dopamine and oxytocin is just what I need.” You say matter of factly but still a little anxiously. “Oh really?” He cocks his head slightly and there’s a devilish grin on his face but his eyes are filled with love and adoration.
“Yes really.” You smiled softly as you looked up at him, you really loved him and you felt safe with him. Matt started to run his thumb along your jaw and down your throat gently.
You felt your cheeks heat up more and then you trailed your hand down his chest, his stomach, being careful to avoid any visible cuts or bruises on his pale skin. Your hand made it’s way down to palm him over his boxers. You watched his face carefully, his cheeks started to tinge with a blush and he smiled.
“Mm, no.” He said with a smirk and then he quickly flipped you carefully and gently so you were now lying on your back on the couch while his hand was firmly on your waist as he looked down. You sharply gasped as this happened but then let out a giggle which just made his smirk grow ten times more.
Matt lowered himself, caressing your waist gently and then running his hand down to your thigh and up again slowly, your breath started to slow in anticipation as you bit your lip, he was paying attention to your breathing and then he tugged your sleep bottoms down. Your cheeks heated up more at that as you looked down at him. He was completely focused on you now as his fingers danced around your inner thigh, spelling out invisible love letters and filth on your sensitive skin as you gasped at each touch. For a man with a moniker that had the word ‘devil’ in it, he sure was heaven of a man.
Matt started to kiss your thighs, as his fingers moved up, he then paused his kisses as he finally travelled across to your vulva and ran a single finger through your folds. It triggered an automatic soft moan that made him smirk for a moment as he then gently spread your folds.
His finger starts to travel more, he teases your hole with his index finger, circling it and almost going in for you to swallow him up but never quite, you feel your core clench up at this and don’t even realise that you’re holding your breath, waiting for him. Waiting for more. He keeps exploring, teasing, and pulling out soft moans and groans of anticipation from you, he starts to slowly insert his finger which makes you gasp and then he pulls it out. He brings the finger to his mouth and sucks on it, tasting your juices.
You gasp at this and watch him, you’d been watching him the whole time but now your eyes are absolutely glued to him. He then brings his finger mixed with your juices and his saliva to that sweet, sweet, bundle of nerves that’s craving his touch. He starts to circle it slowly in a clockwise motion, applying a little more pressure.
“You know, that tasted pretty good.” He says. He says it so confidently, the nature of his tones words, and what’s happening makes your cheeks heat up more as you let out some soft moans. “I should probably try it straight from the source, that’s what I need to do, isn’t it?”
“Oh Matt…” You can’t help but feel like you’re going to explode just from his words. But he’s already dived in.
Matt kisses along your vulva as he inserts his finger into your hole, lightly, almost teasingly. The kisses get closer and then he starts to lick. You’re almost squirming a little now, it feels so good, he’s not even at your clitoris yet, but his mouth and fingers is the start of an overwhelming heaven and you know that. You let out a loud whine and as you squirm, he moves his free hand to firmly hold your thigh, keeping you in place and he groans against you. The vibration of that is absolutely perfectly and you bite your lip, trying not to cry out, as you feel your eyes close as he licks your folds while pumping the tips of his index and now middle finger out.
After a loud whine he smirks and then moves his mouth to the sweet spot as he keeps lightly fingering you, he licks your bundles of nerves, slowly, almost painfully so, circling it with his tongue and then you feel him kissing it and then he starts to lightly suck on your clitoris. You whine out at that, desperately so, as you claw the side of the couch and your eyes start to roll back. He hums against your clitoris, he’s so perfect and he knows that you love that so much. It always feels so damn good and it does right now. The vibration of that humming perfectly gets you off every time and sends pleasure right from your core right down to your feet and up to your head.
Matt keeps humming, well aware of what it does to you, and hungrily sucks on your clitoris, like his life depends on bringing you to orgasm, that he is a man dying of a thirst that only tour sweet juices can quench, that your release will be his salvation. He keeps sucking and you feel your eyes roll back so much and you’re moaning so loudly as your back arches, he’s taking you to the peak and you can’t hold it back anymore. You whine out and grip the sofa more as he firmly holds your thigh, his fingers digging in as his mouth brings you to an overwhelming and incredible orgasm.
“Oh Matt!” You whine out as the pleasure from it floods you. He keeps sucking and licking, making sure he gets each last drop and makes the most of your taste that he’s obsessed with and needs. He slows down after your release as you pant quickly you can’t help but smile and as you look down and see his face move away, his chin and mouth is wet but his lips are curled up in a smile.
“You taste sweeter than anything I could ever dream of wanting.” He says as he caresses your thigh, there’s a slight flush in his face as he pants a little. Your cheeks heat up more at his words and as you watch him move.
Matt takes his boxers off and then quickly kneels on the couch, spreading your legs and you see his thick member aroused and hungry. He’s looking at you as moves closer, holding it and then you move your hand down, feeling it and the precum that’s already dripping. You help him line himself up.
Matt immediately thrusts in, he bottoms out quickly, you sharply inhale and he lets out a loud, perfect groan that’s music to your ears.
“Absolutely perfect every time.” He whispers and then he slowly starts to move as his hand moves up your stomach and to your chest as he holds onto a breast while his other hand is planted onto the sofa to steady himself as he moves.
You feel yourself clenching more around him with each thrust, his rhythm is steady but quick and you’re already so sensitive after the mindblowing orgasm he just gave you. Matt groans as his pace increases while he thrusts into you. You can’t help but whine out as he squeezes your breast and grunts out while moving.
Matt then moves so his body is flushed against you, chest to chest, he puts his arm under your head, almost cuddling you closer to him as his hips start to move ten times faster.
“Oh Matt, fuck…oh god…” You whine out loudly as he moves quickly and you’re so physically overwhelmed. He smiles at your reaction and groans into your ear, pressing his lips right against you to kiss your hair and moan into it as he fucks you like his life depends on it.
His hips are moving so quickly and it completely contrasts to how the way he’s holding you is almost so gentle. You wrap your arms around his back, almost weakly and then start to scratch his toned back as the thrusts become deeper and deeper. You feel so full.
“So perfect, so beautiful. I love you.” He groans into his ear as he keeps pounding into you. He’s a man in love and one that craves your body. He’s absolutely obsessed. “Your pussy is always so needy. I love it.” He groans into your ear as the thrusts become faster.
“I love… I love you… t-too…” You whimper out as he keeps thrusting. You bury your head into the crook of his neck as he keeps going, he’s squeezing you tighter. “I love you s-so-so much…” You feel his hips starting to sputter as the rhythm breaks up a little. He’s still thrusting quickly into you but he’s getting close.
“You feel so good, I’m not gonna last long beautiful.” He moans into your ear as he holds you tighter and keeps thrusting into you. You nod against his shoulder and neck, you knew this, and you have no issue with it.
You dig your nails into his back and scratch him, goosebumps run along his skin at your touch and his breath changes for a moment as his body trembles slightly and he gives one last thrust as he then releases. He groans out and you look up at him smiling and biting your lip, he always looked so handsome when he finished and he made the sweetest noises.
He groans and opens his eyes slowly, he looks at you and then immediately kisses you on the lips lovingly and comfortingly. He pants against your soft lips as he rests them there after the kiss. You run your fingers through his dark hair that now has beads of sweat from this exertion. This is peaceful, he loves you and you love him. You’re perceived, and somehow, that’s okay with Matt.
After a moment he kisses you again and then he carries you to bed, he’s your loving, protective big spoon as your mind finally quietens down and you get to enjoy a deep sleep next to your handsome devil.

Hiii
I LOVE your work, and I was wonderful if you could write something with hurt/comfort with Matt Murdock?
Like you were coming home late and someone was following you home, and Matt hears you heart beat and comes to find you juste before the creepy person makes a move on you? And the reader is like “I’m fine, I’m okay” even tho she crying very hard and can’t breathe and Matt is like “no you’re not, but it’s okay I’ll take care of you” and then he takes care of reader and it’s fluff and comfort?
Thank youuuuu
Savior (Matt Murdock x Reader)
A/N: Hiiii! Thank you for reading! It's a short ficlet, but I ended up really liking how it turned out! Also, Charlie Cox is so, so PRETTY. A special thank you to my beta reader @wheredidiputmyfish for being so great! <3 (Word Count: 1.0k)

You didn’t fully comprehend the predicament you were in until it changed from sketchy to dangerous. Hell’s Kitchen was especially quiet that night, though the argument could be made that it never fully went to sleep. Bodegas, laundromats, and diners stayed open late into the night, and it was the light spilling from their fogged windows that lit your route home.
You knew Matt wouldn’t be happy with your decision to walk home alone. He’d warned you time and time again to wait for him, or get a taxi if he wasn’t around, but taxis were expensive, and he hadn’t answered your call earlier. Now, you cursed yourself for not waiting.
The man behind you had been following you for thirteen blocks – you'd counted in nervous breaths – and he was gaining on you. You walked at an increasingly rapid pace, heart thundering as you blindly dug through your bag for the pepper spray Foggy had gifted you when you’d moved to the city. It was big and a stark blue, with the words “I Heart NY” stamped around it, but your hands were shaking so badly that even if you could find it in the black hole that was your tote bag, you weren’t sure you’d be able to use it.
You turned the corner, nervously glancing at the stranger out of the corner of your eye, and almost yelped at the proximity he had gained. He was within ten feet of you, and you didn’t give yourself a chance to hesitate before you took off running.
“Hey!” He called.
You ignored him, pushing your legs to move faster. You could see the entrance to your building, a tiny speck in the distance, and you prayed Matt was close enough to hear your racing heart. The man’s feet pounded on the concrete behind you, and you let out a wild shriek that you hoped would alert someone nearby. If it was heard by anyone, they didn’t make it known. You were alone, and the man was so close to you now that you knew you’d be grabbed by him before you could make it to the safety of your building.
Arms wrapped around your middle, hauling you into an alley. You began shrieking at the top of your lungs, if only to make it harder for your attacker to get away with whatever he planned to do.
“Leave me alone! Stop!” You fought with all your might, swinging and kicking wildly in front of you in a last-ditch effort to get away. “Get off me, you fucking creep!”
Hands cradled your face.
“It’s me. It’s me, sweetheart.” Matt’s smooth voice coaxed your eyes open. You hadn’t even realized they were closed. “You’re safe, sweetheart. I’ve got you.”
You blinked up at him in relief. Your heart thundered in your chest, making it hard to breathe. He wasn’t in his Daredevil suit, but the way he clenched his jaw told you that the Devil was itching to come out and play.
“There was a man,” you started, voice scratchy from the screams you’d let out, “He was following me. I-I know I should’ve waited for you to come get me, but I didn’t want to bother you and then this guy showed up and I was trying to find the pepper spray but-” You were rambling now, gulping in air and waving your arms around as you explained.
“Are you okay?” Matt asked, softly caressing the curve of your cheekbone.
“Yeah.” You nodded. The lie tasted ashy on your tongue.
“You’re crying, sweetheart.”
“I-I’m fine.” You stuttered, attempting to blink the tears away. “I’m fine.” You tried again, but your voice wobbled as the words left your lips. You couldn’t tell if you were trying to convince him or yourself at that point. Matt nodded along with you, kissing your temple.
“Let’s get you home, okay? You’re safe now. No one will ever hurt you again, okay? I’ve got you.” He led you to the apartment you shared with him, only letting go when you sunk into the cushions of the couch. “I’m going to make you some tea, okay?”
“Okay.” Your voice was wispy, barely audible to anyone besides Matt, who had tuned himself to you so thoroughly that you sometimes felt like he could read your thoughts. Like right then, as the thought entered your brain, and he responded before you could even finish the thought. Some Chamomile tea would be grea-
“Is Chamomile alright?” He called, clinking the mug against the counter.
“Yeah, Matty. Thank you.” You breathed through your anxiety and wondered what happened to the man who’d been following you.
-
Later that evening, after he’d drawn you a bath and tucked you into bed, the Devil finally got what he wanted. Matt hadn’t mentioned it to you, but he’d been diligently tracking the stranger’s heartbeat since he’d intervened earlier that evening, and as soon as your heartbeat evened out, suggesting your deep slumber, Matt was jumping across rooftops towards the irregular heartbeat he’d been listening to all evening.
He wasn’t sure what he was going to do once he got his hands on the guy who had followed you earlier. The blood curdling scream you’d let out was indication enough of your fear, and it echoed in Matt’s ears as he got closer to his target.
He wouldn’t kill the man. That wasn’t a line Matt was willing to cross, but the thought certainly crossed his mind. If he’d put his hands on you, touched you with his filthy awfulness, Matt might’ve been angry enough to do it, though, and that terrified him. He’d never been so close to murder before, besides maybe with Fisk, but no one fucked with you and got away with it. He wouldn’t kill the guy, but he’d hurt him. Badly.
Matt took a deep breath and let the Devil creep out. May God have mercy on the stranger’s soul, because the Devil surely wouldn’t.

Matt Murdock X Reader: Safe and Sound
Summary: Matt loses his hearing and you come to the rescue.
Warning: None(i think) this is just fluff
Matt Murdock did not easily get despaired. Being a lawyer meant he needed to keep his mind in a state of constant stability in order to do his job the best he could. His night job also required a steady mind because any slip up could cause the loss of a life. Despite all of this Matt couldn't manage to calm himself when his hearing stopped working. He had already lost his sight years ago which meant the only thing he could rely on to survive was the rest of his senses, his hearing being one of the most important ones. So it's safe to say that when he stopped being able to hear the noise of Hellfire's kitchen and the clinking of glass crashing onto the floor he panicked. Out of a sudden Matt's world had gone completely dark. The silence suffocated him and no matter how loud he screamed he couldn't seem to make it stop.
He was all alone.
Alone and vulnerable.
You strolled down the streets a shopping bag in one hand and the keys to Matt's apartment grasped in the other. You walked up the stairs calmly, stopping to give Matt's neighbours a cheery good morning as you went. Completely unaware of what was happening to your favorite brunette. You’d made it to Matt's apartment without any issues, your hands fiddled with the keys as you tried to find the correct one to open the door. Then you heard the most blood curdling scream coming from inside the apartment. Your head snapped up at the sound, the hand holding the grocery bag instinctively releasing the item as you desperately tried to pry the door open. You knew about Matt's double life so you shouldn’t be worried about a scream. What made the hairs on your arms stand up was the fact that Matt was the one screaming.
Desperately screaming.
And if there was one thing you knew Matt Murdock never was was desperate.
You managed to get the door open, your shoes clanged loudly against the wood flooring as you raced into the living room. Your eyes searched the room quickly, trying to find some intruder or any sense of a break in but everything seemed to be in the right place, except for the pieces of glass that littered the floor near the kitchen. You moved towards the broken cup, kneeling down to get a better look at the contents. It is possible Matt had been poisoned? You were just about to reach out to grab a piece off the floor when another scream broke out through the silent room. Your eyes snapped to the place where the noise had come from, your gaze falling on Matt's frame. You rushed over to him, your hands reaching out to touch his body.
“Matt, what's wrong? Why are you-”
The moment your hand touched his arm Matt snapped into action, his hand wrapped around your throat with a strength you often forgot he had. Your own hands made their way to Matt's forearm trying with all your might to stop him from choking you.
“Matt…”
Your voice barely came out, not that it mattered anyway Matt couldnt hear you. You looked around, searching for something to get him to realize that he wasn't in danger. Your eyes fell onto Matt's other hand, the one that had remained at his side. You used your little amount of strength, the lack of air was making you lightheaded, to grab his other arm and drag his hand towards your face. For some reason Matt didn't resist, he let you guide his hand to your cheek. The moment his hand made contact with your features his eyes lit up in recognition. He immediately let go of your throat causing you to gasp for air. Your hands went to the floor, trying to steady yourself as you breathed in some much needed oxygen. Matt's hands went to try and grab onto you but you flinched away, the survival instinct still kicked into your system. And he felt it. Matt felt the way your muscles contracted away from him. He couldn't see or hear you but an image of your face formed inside his brain, your eyes wide with fear as you looked at him. Like he was some sort of rabid animal. In a way he believed he was.
You stared at the floor trying to get your bearings together. Matt called out your name, making you look at him. Your eyes found his brown ones, watching as his eyebrows furrowed with worry. He called out your name again a little louder this time and you realized that he couldn't hear anything at all. You crawled towards him. Matt felt the floorboards creak underneath him as you moved. Your hand went to his face but this time instead of snapping at you Matt closed his eyes, nuzzling into your palm. You felt Matt's tears on your palm as you caressed him.
“I’m sorry.”
He sounded so broken.
You moved your body in between his legs, your arms wrapping around his neck to pull him into your embrace. Matt nuzzled into your neck, the smell of your perfume invading his nose and making him feel safe. Your body was warm around him, a big contrast to the coolness of the wall behind him. He couldn’t hear but he wasn't scared anymore because he wasn't alone now. Now he had you and you would never let anything happen to him. Ever. Just like he would never let anyone hurt you.
You managed to guide Matt to the couch so that way he could be comfortable as you tried to figure out what to do about his hearing. You would have to take him to a doctor. That was the only thing you could think of. But how the hell were you supposed to guide him through the streets of new york without either of you getting put into risk. You reached into one of the kitchen drawers searching for the kettle you knew would be there. Tea would help you think and maybe it would calm Matt down enough to get him to sleep. Perhaps once he had gotten the rest he needed his hearing would come back to him.
Matts lay on the couch, his hands pulling at the blanket you’d placed on top of him. He wondered what you were doing. He knew you hadn’t left because he could still smell you. He wondered how he hadn't noticed the scent when you had walked in but then again he was in such a panicked state he hadn’t been paying enough attention to things. A new scent filled his nose. It was a slightly citric smell but not strong enough to be some kind of juice. Matt moved his head in the direction of the smell. Tea. You were making him orange tea. If it had been another time he would have laughed but it seemed silly to laugh given the circumstances.
A low melody entered Matt's ears. At first he thought he had imagined it but then he heard a clink of metal and the sound of shoes on the wood floor. You were humming as you walked around the kitchen and Matt could hear you.
He could hear you.
You were about to take the mugs filled with tea over to the couch when two arms grabbed you and turned you around. You looked up at Matt, your heart beating quickly. When had he gotten up from the couch? You hadn't even heard the floor creak behind you but then again that was kind of Matt's thing. Being quiet was a must when you fought bad guys in the night.
“Matt can you-”
“I’m so sorry. I would never hurt you on purpose.”
Matt pulled you into his chest, his body molding itself around your fame. You froze for a moment before wrapping your arms around his neck.
“It’s okay Matty. You were scared and you reacted. I know you’d never hurt me intentionally.”
Matt let out a small sob as he held you.
“Everything was dark. I couldn't… i didn't know what-”
“Shhh, It's alright you’re okay. I'm here now.”
Your hands wrapped themselves in Matt's hair as the two of you hugged.
“If you hadn’t done something… if i had…i’d never forgive myself.”
“Matthew, stop it. It was a mistake and I'm okay. You would have noticed. I know you would have.”
It was futile to argue with you. Matt knew you would never believe he could harm you. And that's what worried him because when his hands had been around your throat he wasn't thinking of anything else. He wondered if you were right, perhaps he would have noticed in time and stopped. But a small part of him thought that he only would know when it was too late. Tears welled in his eyes for the second time that day. His body slacked in your arms the emotions he’s held in for so long taking a toll on him. You sunk to the floor due to Matt's weight, one of your hands grabbing onto the counter for support. Once you two were sitting on the floor Matt buried his head into your chest, his strong arms gripping onto you for dear life. You felt Matt's tears soak through your shirt, causing some to well up in your own eyes. You hated seeing him this way but you were glad he trusted you enough to show this side of himself. You stayed like this for a while. Matt clinging onto you as he cried, you caressing him as he did so. Then Matt's head snapped up from its position, his face facing yours. One of his hands found their way to your cheek, his fingers tracing your features slowly. His thumb found your lips and he heard your heartbeat fasten slightly at the action. You had closed your eyes the moment he had placed his hand on your face, the thought of looking at him making you nervous. Matt called out your name. It came out as a whisper. So low that maybe if he hadn't been so close you wouldn’t have heard him.
“Yes?”
There was silence for a moment as Matt contemplated if this was a good moment. Every thought of doubt left his mind when he remembered the feeling that had invaded his chest when he realized you’d come to help him. The immediate peace that had consumed him when you pulled him into your body. Matt placed his hand underneath your chin, guiding you to look up at him. He could hear your heart berating, he could feel you breathe on his lip and he could smell your perfume, a scent he was sure he would never tire of.
“Matt?”
God he loved the way his name sounded on your lips.
“You alright?”
That's when he kissed you. Your hands tensed before reaching up to hold Matt's cheeks. He pulled you onto his lap, his arms wrapping around you once again. You wondered if this was all just a really realistic dream. It seemed almost impossible that after all these years you were in Matt's kitchen kissing him with everything you had. The years of bottled feelings had come to an end. Your heart felt as light as a feather and even though you didn't know it Matt had never felt happier. Matt placed his forehead against yours as he tried to catch his breath.
“I am now.”
You let out a laugh making him smirk.
“You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn't want to hurt you.”
“You could never hurt me Matt.”
“Yeah but my life isn't exactly safe. The people I love end up getting hurt. I didn't want to put a target on your back.”
“Hey, I think I should be the one who decides whether I want to be a target or not. Plus I'm in this. I have been in it since that day I stitched you up. So if anyone put a target on my back it was me. Not you.”
“You’re one tough cookie.”
“Yeah I know. It’s why you love me.”
Your eyes widened at your words realizing what you had said. You worried you had assumed too much, after all Matt had never officially said he loved you.
“You bet it is.”
With that Matt pulled you into another kiss. You melted into his body, feeling like the happiest person alive. The floor was cold and the position was starting to hurt Matt's back so you both got up. You went to look at the tea you had placed on the counter.
“Teas gone cold.”
“Leave it.”
You listened to Matt, letting him guide you to the couch. You watched as he climbed onto the sofa before opening his arms to you. You understood the message climbing onto the couch and laying on his chest. Matt's hands went to your hair, massaging your scalp tenderly. You let out a hum of approval as you snuggled more into his frame.
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For being here. For sticking around, even though it’s dangerous.”
“Well, we do all kinds of crazy things for people we love.”
Matt smiled at your words. Love had always been something he had wanted. At the same time he always feared for those he loved. However right now he couldn’t care less. You loved him, he loved you and neither of you would let anyone get in the way of that. Matt listened to the sound of your breathing as you began to fall asleep. For the first time in a long time the world around him seemed to go quiet. He drifted into sleep, your warmth luring him into peaceful slumber. For once Matt wasn’t plagued with nightmares instead his dreams were filled with images of you. He was safe. Completely safe because he had you and nothing was going to change that. Not if he had anything to say about it.

a familiar duet between two hearts
matt murdock x reader
tags: i love comforting matt but like- now it’s my turn. uno reverse card. reader with anxiety, talks of anxiety symptoms (mine at least), i wrote this from my phone in my car in the driveway after a really bad day, unedited, just a lil drabble of matt comfort cause if i need it, someone else probably needs it too.
NOTE: for some reason tumblr decided to copy a few paragraphs and if i try to delete them it deletes an actual paragraph… so yeah i ain’t messing with that glitch. here’s the warning, anyways thank you for reading <3
word count: probably about 1k oops
it finally occurred to matt why something felt off to him today. even with you gone, he felt the remnants of you lingering onto to the way his heart beat faster than normal. you were his solid. you were his grounding. so when you, yourself, felt unsettled, matt had no choice but to feel it, too. it broke his heart to think he didn’t realize it sooner. but it hit him now.
your schedule has been too much lately. it felt like you were nonstop for months now. when you finished one thing, you already missed the deadline for 3 others. you felt guilty when you put time into anything other than the work in front of you. even when you were home with matt, you were listing off things you needed to get done. matt said you were working too hard. matt also could sense how tired your body really was, despite you trying to convince him you were fine.
you have been with matt long enough for him to memorize the tempo of your heart beat. the sweet steady beat that grounded him when he felt the world spiraling around him. the pulse that he would focus on when he wanted to block the world out. moments where all he wanted to hear was the calming drone of the AC and your heart as he embraced you. there would be nights on patrol that wouldn’t end well. coming back to his apartment to hear your soft breathing would fix it all. his adrenaline filled chest would hitch before falling back into rhythm with yours. knowing he could crawl into bed and hold you in his arms, this was how he calmed down.
no wonder he truly felt anxious without a real personal cause. his heart has been naturally grounding itself with yours that didn’t seem to want to allow you to calm down.
“hey, sweetheart. long day?” he asked, finally acknowledging you. he heard you as you approached the apartment but he was listening in on your breathing. he knew when your anxiety was bad, it affected you physically and he needed to check just how bad it was today.

“eh, the usual.” you shrugged, trying not to make a big deal over the fact that the day was in fact shitty.
“it’s finally the weekend. i thought i’d get this for us to celebrate.” he acknowledged the display in front of him and you couldn’t help but smile. the mere fact he thought about you in order to get this made your heart swell.
“matty, you didn’t have to do this.” you placed your hands on your waist and sighed. it seemed you unintentionally brought the stress of work home. because you’ve been nonstop lately, it seems like you didn’t know how to tell the two apart; work life and personal life. it’s been affecting your health too. the additional stress you’ve been carry was starting to weigh in your back and knees as well as causing this heavy sensation in your chest. it didn’t help that your health app notified you that your average resting heart rate has increased by ten points over the week. you knew you needed to relax or this would cause more problems, but deadlines are deadlines, they don’t wait for you.

“you sure you don’t want to talk about, love?” he suggested as he laid out the take out boxes. you sighed and told him.
“i feel like a broken record but it just doesn’t seem to stop and i’m overwhelmed but i can’t just stop or it will be worse when i get back to it. and it doesn’t help that my one professor just keeps nagging at me for the same thing and i can’t seem to fix it or please everyone and im tired. im tired, matty. i just-“ the venting began to overwhelm you again as you vented on about your day.
matt understood this conflict you felt between doing any and everything versus saying no and letting yourself rest. he himself doesn’t know how to accept help most of the time or how to admit he was even in pain. that’s why he assumed you wouldn’t accept any help from him. when he realized talking about it was just stressing you out even more, he stood up from the couch and made his way over to you.
“come here” he mumbled before pulling you into an embrace. you had no choice but to inhale his familiar scent and wrap your arms back around his body. as if rehearsed, matt began to inhale loudly and holding for a few seconds before exhaling. “breath with me, baby.”
you didn’t even realize how natural it was for you to lock into his own breathing. being in this position left little space between your hearts as you allowed yourselves to connect and match your breathing. matt wouldn’t dare move until he, too, could feel the synchronized tempo between the two of you. it was a familiar duet between two hearts that fought to be the one to comfort the other. most of the time it was you that was solid. you, who reminded him of safety and comfort. but today, it was your turn to simply breath.
when it seemed your body was finally able to get out of the anxious state it was in and allowed you to calm down, matt pulled out of the hug leaned in to press a soft kiss to your forehead. the sentiment alone made you release a sigh that traveled down your body, relaxing your muscles. the kind of sigh that tells your body to regulate.
“there you go. how do you feel?” he asked in a soft voice.
“better. thank you, matt. i needed that.”
“always. now, no more school. im not going to go out either. just you and me, tonight. deal?”
part of you wanted to question just what you were sacrificing by not doing schoolwork but the fact that matt told you he was not going on patrol tonight just so he could stay with you? yeah, school could wait. the devil of hell’s kitchen chose you. he chose you.
“deal.”
matt was and will always there to remind you that sometimes it’s okay. it’s okay to not be okay. but he’s also there to ground you when you feel it become too much. a simple embrace is enough to calm down an anxious heart but only if you allow yourself the chance to breath.

pairing matt murdock x lawyer!reader
summary in which matthew wants his legal partner to be more.
warnings best friends/coworkers to lovers. smut. possessiveness. oral (fem). piv sex (wrap before you tap, folks!). missionary. not proof read. pet names (angel, sweetheart, etc)
“Hey, Matt!” you said, walking into his apartment, knowing he could hear and smell you. “How are you?”
“Doin’ better now that you’re here. You’re happy today,” he says, putting on a shirt and walking into the living room.
“Yes sir,” you say, smiling and grabbing drinks from his fridge. “A really nice guy just asked me on a date. His name is-”
Matt’s face stiffened.
“Don’t go on that date.”
“Why not?”
“Because I said so.”
You were confused, yet hopeful. You'd always found Matt attractive, you wanted him to say the least. You knew that he picked up on it. But you never quite grabbed hints that he was feeling the same.
“Matthew,” you said sternly, “What's the problem? Is someone jealous?”
He smiled slightly, knowing you were playing with him, but quickly straightened out again.
“I’d fuck you against the windows of our firm before I let you go on that date.”
Woah.
Your heart rate picked up, and heat pooled between your thighs. He knew it, and he smiled.
“Can I kiss you, y/n?”
Instead of answering, you kissed him yourself. Everything you’d wanted all these years was coming together.
Soon enough that one kiss turned into much, much more. Your tongues explored each others mouths like you were starved. Matt’s fresh shirt was wrinkled and thrown elsewhere, along with your shoes and top somewhere.
Matt brought you to his room that you knew oh so well and onto the bed you'd slept in after so many late work nights.
He lifted your skirt, tilting his head up to you and opening his mouth to ask. But before he could, you spat, “Please, Matty. Please.”
Before you formed another coherent thought, his tongue was between your folds, groaning at your heat. His eyes rolled into the back of his head as he wrapped his lips around your mound and bringing his arms around your thighs.
As your legs tightened and twitched, he brought them closer to him, like he was diving for every last drop. He knew, with everything he had, that both of you were soaking in the growing scent of sex and hot air around you.
“Matty,” you mewled, and he knew you were close. he knew what you wanted. and he was going to bring you there.
And oh, did he.
He brought his middle and ring finger to your entrance, keeping his tongues attention on your nerves. Both sensations were almost too much for you, but it just felt so good.
And before you knew it, the band in your belly was coming close to snapping, and Matt’s arm was right around your thighs.
“So sweet,” he said, coming up for air and unbuckling his pants. “I’ve waited so long to hear those sounds you make, sweetheart.”
You got shy, closing your legs and bringing them up to your chest. He knew how to give you butterflies. He was quick to bring your legs back down and open, running his hands up and all over them.
“Don’t get shy now, baby,” he added, pulling his boxers off. He was bigger than you had expected. You’d seen him in boxers before, but never like this. If anything would make you shy, it was that.
It was agonizingly slow for him to put on a condom and bottom out within you. Soon enough you were wrapping your legs around him and making him fill you up. You winced lightly, but he groaned at the sensation of you around him.
Once you adjusted, he pulled himself almost all of the way out of you before slamming back in. He could have your heartbeat picking up and he starts moving with a similar rhythm.
Matt listened and paid attention to every way your body moved, snickered at the way your hands squeezed his arms above you, and groaned more and more with every plunge.
“You feel so good around me, sweetheart. I bet you can't even remember that guy’s name anymore, can you?”
You ignored him, eyes tightly shut and mouth open. You were close and he could tell.
“Matt I-”
“I know, angel. Just a little more, okay?” he said, bringing rough fingers to your clit again and rubbing tight circles. He had you clenching around him and your hands searching around his body.
“You're doing so good. And you're so fucking perfect.”
With that, you were cumming around him and screaming like a prayer. He followed soon after, soaking in the sounds and scent of sex surrounding you.
After cooling down, Matt pulled out and rolled over beside you, letting you fall under his arm.
“So no date then?” you asked, still drinking in the sensations.
“Only if it's with me.”

"You're late."
Beautiful, dark, hungry. Those were words you usually reserved for the Devil who protected Hell's Kitchen. Matt the lawyer was more soft, gentle, but still beautiful. Always beautiful. But the way he tipped his head, his senses painting a picture of your every step, and his broad chest swelled beneath that still crisp fabric of his new coat. You knew something was different tonight.
A good different.
A different that made you heart speed up and your breath quicken. The pavement beneath your feet blurred, your haste to get to him sparking a fire in your blood. Your eyes weren't the best in the dark, but the light floating around him gave you a helping hand. A yellowish glow settling on the way his hand tightened around the handle of his cane, two fingers rubbing against the top, and his stance shifted. Turning towards you before you could even say a word.
"Sorry, work was a little more complicated than I thought, but I'm ready for a little fun tonight."

Lean on My Arm as You Break My Heart
Pairing: Matt Murdock x reader (GN or fem) Word count: 2.9K Chapter/content warnings: 18+ MDNI! Angst, pining, previous established relationship, mentions of a wound, steamy kissing (I think that's it). A/N: this is my first time writing for Matt! I adore him and so many writers have done brilliant pieces for him so I'm pretty anxious. I had this idea come to me after listening to Mitski and part of it is influenced by her song 'I Don't Smoke' which just has angsty relationship vibes. I do plan to write more for Matt and for those fics to be better (definitely some fluff I do think of myself as more of a fluff writer, I really struggle with angst). I'd really love feedback! As always comments, reblogs, asks etc. are more than welcome.
Matt knows you’re home, he can hear your distinct heartbeat that’s committed to memory. He’d be able to single it out in any crowd as well. He also knows that you’re awake, you always were. While your insomnia hadn’t been the most practical for your life, it had been extremely convenient during your relationship.
He knocks on your bedroom window, it’s no longer kept unlocked for him. He remembers when it always was at night for when he'd go on patrols, he wonders when that stopped and when you started locking him out.
You hear the knock and it startles you, causing you to jump and drop your book in bed. You know it's him. You haven't spoken or seen each other in close to two months but who was counting? You sadly were.
You stayed frozen in your bed, wondering if the knock was a figment of your imagination as you felt like you were spending your days waiting for him to come back. It wouldn't work out, you knew that. But the thought was more than enough for your pining heart. You waited a few more seconds, if it really was him maybe he'd just go. The locked window was a hint he could pick up on surely.
Maybe he'd think you're asleep or that you're not home. He knew you were there, he heard your heart beat and he heard it spike when he'd knocked. He knocks again and he hears your sigh.
You get out of bed and walk over to the window, you pause for a second before deciding to open the curtains. You see Matt and can't help but sharply inhale. You knew it would be him on the other side but it still somehow hurts even more than you expected. The thought of him had been enough to burn the flame bright but seeing him and having him mere inches away with only a thin window of glass separating you both was doing so much more for that flame.
He doesn't knock, he just stays there, perched on the fire escape, he heard your feet and the curtain open. You hadn't opened the window yet though. He's still devilishly handsome, even in that suit that ended up separating you and obscures the face of your Matt.
"Go." It's a single syllable. A single word. It's the most you could get out without losing all dignity, you want to say more but you don't trust yourself.
Matt notices the falter in your voice, it's not cold and cruel but it's a noticeably colder tone than you'd ever spoken to him in before. He taps the glass of the window gently with his finger.
"Please?" He asks, it's soft, almost too quiet. You can't say no to him. You wonder if Matt still knows that, if it's what he's thinking and why on earth did he come here? And why tonight?
You bite your lip and nod to yourself as you silently unlock the window and then open it, taking a couple of steps back as he climbs through. He's graceful and swift as ever but it's clear that he's injured himself based on his balance and gait. The landing wasn't the best Daredevil one you'd ever seen.
"What happened?" You ask.
"It's fine, just a few cuts." It's quick, dismissive of his pain as always. It almost takes you back to when you both were a couple and this was the regular night life.
"I'll go get the kit." You respond quickly as you watch him, it's conflicting having him back here.
"You still have it." He's flattered and he's hoping for anyway in. He misses you and he can live in denial a bit longer, let the fuse short circuit again in another month if you'll let him.
"It's just- it's just practical." You say flatly, he nods with a slight smirk that you don't see as you turn. "There's some of your clothes in the bottom drawer if you want to change." You say it quickly, feeling butterflies in your stomach as you speak. You quickly walk off to avoid seeing his reaction, you can't face it so you make your way to the bathroom to get the first aid kid that had been generously stocked with everything he'd ever need that you'd used in bandaging him up a million times before.
As you're gone he makes his way to the dresser, he's kind of surprised that you still kept some of his clothes folded neatly in your dresser. There's nothing of yours in that drawer, he wonders why it's so isolated, is it to not cross-contaminate the scents? He wouldn't mind wearing a reminder of you after so long.
He pulls a pair of sweatpants out and puts them on and then finds a t-shirt, he'll put it on afterwards. He has a cut across his chest so there's no point in putting it on.
Matt sits on the bed after changing, resting his hands on the sheets. They've been washed and changed since he last slept in them but he can still tell from the scent and texture, they're the same sheets he'd slept in with you once upon a time. That he'd kissed you in, made love to you in, recovered in and held you in. There's something comforting in that, he closes his eyes and if he tries hard enough he can pretend this is just an ordinary night. That nothing had changed.
"Couch please." It's too domestic, too normal and too tempting to have him sitting on that bed that you shared with him for so many nights and mornings. The fact that he's shirtless doesn't help either, it wasn't purely physical with Matt, it was a deep emotional connection as well but the physical chemistry and attraction had never been deficient. Having him here but not was an ache deep in your soul, one you can feel in your bones, just for him.
You could kiss him. He's taken the mask off now, you could run your fingers through his hair. And you could kiss him till you couldn't think about anything but his lips. It's too easy to fall into the same patterns. You know that and you won't let yourself get hurt again. You just hope the couch won't lead to so many temptations.
He makes his way to the couch quietly, it surprises you, you'd expected some quip in response, a tease. But there isn't one and you don't know what to make of it. You don't know why he's here, it's just delaying the inevitable and suffering again.
He sits on the couch, his head is tilted down, you don't know why. Is it out of guilt? Sadness? Pain? You sit on the couch next to him, your bodies facing each other with only mere inches in between them. It would be so easy to break the distance, crawl into his lap and melt into his embrace.
You shake your head slightly to break the thoughts, your eyes scan down to his pale chest where you see the bleeding cut. It's a few inches long but it surprisingly doesn't look too deep.
"Is it okay if I touch it?" You ask softly, his head tilts up for a moment at the sound of your voice. Then he nods, his head tilts down again with a small blush as you start to clean the wound.
In a normal relationship this should've phased someone but it didn't, you had become somewhat desensitized to how bizarre the situation and occurrence of it was somewhere along the lines. Definitely earlier in the timeline than not. He grimaced a little as you touch the wound to clean it.
"You're going to die before you can even consider retiring from your day job." You say quietly but sternly as a response. You're too tired to have a filter.
"Sweetheart, I think that one's on capitalism and anyway-"
"Don't." You cut him off with a sigh as you rub your temple, trying to school your emotions. "You know what I mean Matty."
He hums in response with a small, dry chuckle. The tone you have upsets him but the fact that you still call him Matty melts him a bit. It's what he needed. You don't get how he could find this funny or amusing.
You sigh and start to bandage the cut now that it's been cleaned, out of habit your fingertips gently dance along the pale skin of his pec for a moment careful not to touch the wound. It's muscle memory and your cheeks heat up at what you've just done.
It's taken Matt back, his heart skips a beat and he smiles at the sensation, you start to move your hand away and he frowns at that. He swiftly catches your wrist in his hand before you get the chance to completely pull it back. His grasp is firm but gentle, it sends a shiver up your spine.
"You know, I'm stronger than you give me credit for." You whisper. You don't know if it's a challenge, its something you say with numerous potential meanings waiting waiting be analyzed. He definitely had more manpower than you and you had no intention of challenging his hold as you both anxiously awaited the other's next move. The tension was thick enough that you could cut it with a knife.
"Matty." You whisper softly after swallowing, Matt's had people call him that his whole life, he should be used to it but nobody says it like you do. His name sounds so different and so right when coming from your lips. He brings your wrist closer to his face, you can feel his breath on your wrist for a millisecond before he kisses it.
The kiss is gentle but extremely hungry. It's always what Matt does, he kisses the parts of you that he finds delicate. The details, the parts of you that other lovers would ignore, wouldn't even think of. It's all in the details for Matt.
He kisses you like he hasn't had a meal in months, has he been touch-starved like you have since you parted? Is he as lonely as you've felt, was this a desperate plea for a bit of attention? Connection? Love…? His lips burn across your skin and you let out a little whimper.
"Matthew."
He stops, it's the fact that you've used his full first name. He knows that he came here on a wild chance. But he'd missed you and felt so empty without you, without you in the same bed as him when he did sleep. Those meaningless but smile-inducing, day-brightening texts throughout the working day. He needed this, he could live in what you'd call denial that maybe you two could work it out. He didn't know but he needed it, he needed to believe it tonight.
"Is this what you need? To be mean?" He asks, gently letting go of your wrist.
"I'm not being mean- I'm trying to be practical here Matt." He was making you feel so many things and you didn't know what to do with any of them, with each breath and moment you looked at him you felt more and more of your self control slipping away.
Some part of Matt knows that you're not being mean. You weren't a mean person and you especially never were a mean person to him. Sure you hadn't ended on the happiest, most amicable of terms but that was just how it was for him. It only feels mean because you're being distant, you're not as welcoming and loving as you normally are. You have these boundaries that are preventing you two from going back to how you were a few months ago. He needs that, he needs you and you need him but you don't need the pain.
"Because fine, if you need to be mean. I-I can take it. Just please?" He says, his eyes are glassy, you think you spot some unshed tears there and it's crumbling away at your walls more. You watch him like you're seeing him for the first time, or maybe the last. It could be either, you're not sure.
You bite your lip as you put a hand to his cheek, his short stubble prickles against your hand, you haven't felt that in so long and you can see him relax so much just at that sign of affection. The tension is melting off of him.
You slowly move your hand down so it now sits on his shoulder and before you can even think of what to say to him his lips are on yours. For a millisecond it's surprisingly gentle and then it's a desperate clash. Your fingers thread through his hair and then tug as you feel him bite your bottom lip. His hand finds itself onto the small of your back and he pushes you into his lap so you're now straddling his waist.
His kisses are hungrier than what his mouth was when it was kissing your wrist before. He's starved and it feels like he's desperate to consume you. Each moment that his lips are on yours is making up for a moment when they weren't. His mouth works to your jaw and then down along your neck, it's messy, sloppy and desperate.
It feels so right but you know it only will while it lasts but you can't tell him to stop because you don't want to. You'll hate yourself for it in the morning though, you know that for certain.
Why couldn't this work out? Matt was perfect in almost every way. He was sweet, intelligent, witty, handsome, he had a respectable day job. Day job. Everybody who met him was instantly charmed. If it just wasn't for damn Daredevil you thought. It has started to get too much, Matt was becoming more reckless, restless, obsessive and you could see him spiraling. Everything had become unpredictable. You'd never wanted him to give it up but it got to a stage where he was too distant and it had become too much.
"You know I love you right?" He asks as he presses a kiss to the top of your shoulder, you close your eyes wishing reality to go away as you thread your fingers through his hair.
"Matt." You whisper out silently.
"I miss you." His voice is more raw when he says it but then he sucks on your neck, stealing out a moan. If you were in your right mind right now you'd wonder if it was to distract from the emotion he was letting out.
"I miss you too but-"
"We can make it work, we're good together." It was true, throughout your relationship you had been good together. Your loved ones had wondered why it hadn't worked out, he'd always been so perfect and doting and you couldn't tell anyone the real reason why.
"But-"
"We'll find a way." He says and you don't say anything.
No matter what you say, your heart will just crumble some more and you don't need anymore heartbreak tonight. You're not sure if you're heart could deal with shedding any more tears for Matt Murdock.
Your hands leave his hair and he groans at that, they move to his cheeks and you bring his face up from his neck and kiss him again. Equally hungry to his earlier kisses. His lips taste metallic and slightly chapped. But it's a taste that's dizzying and he meets you with equal fervour.
Maybe you should give it another chance, it feels so right being in his lap with his lips on yours, your teeth and tongues clashing together, spending the early hours of a weekday on the couch like this.
You continue to kiss and tug on his hair as his arms wrap around you. Maybe the desperation is just so tangible.
"It hurt me a little that the window was locked sweetheart." He admits as he breaks away for a second to catch his breath before crashing back to your mouth, his arms are still wrapped around you and one hand snakes down to squeeze your hip.
“Give. It. Up.” You pant out in between kisses.
You're both too desperate but you don't regret saying it. He just kisses you, he won't. He never would and he never will. He doesn't say anything, he doesn't respond but you know the answer. His silence is an answer and it's a loud enough one.
You might regret this in the morning but right now, you don't care although that's a lie as you feel pain over his silent answer. It just makes the kisses desperate and sloppier.
Once you're done with each others bodies on that couch, the couch you had hoped would avoid a situation like this from occurring you sigh. You wonder if he thinks you're breaking his heart or what he even thinks of you right now. But you just sit there on that couch together, and as he leans against your arm with his head resting on your shoulder, he's just breaking your heart.

The Red Room - Pt. 1 (Matt Murdock x Reader)
MASTERLIST // JOIN MY TAGLIST
Summary: While on surveillance one night, you get interrupted by a strange man wearing a Devil costume. When he offers to help you escape the Red Room, the offer is too good to pass up.
(Warnings: guns, physical fighting, cursing, references to psychological torture, eventual smut lol, references to reader's life as a Black Widow, reader threatens Matt, reader doesn't know Matt is Daredevil, this is somewhat of a divergence from the canon story, watch me make shit up about the Red Room)
Part 2 Part 3 - Coming Soon
You perched on the edge of the rooftop, gargoyle-like in your hunched posture as you watched your target skitter across the alley below you. The infamous grey patches in his hair stood out in the blanketed darkness, and the drunk stagger of messy footsteps echoed around you. He was older than he looked in his picture, but it was definitely him.
“Target acquired.” You whispered into your telecom, reaching for the pistol strapped to your hip.
“Do not engage, Widow. Tail him and wait for further instructions.”
You halted, furrowing your brow.
“Sorry, you’re saying to not shoot him?”
“Affirmative.”
You shrugged, still confused but unwilling to express your curiosity. If you came across as too interested, they’d subject you to another round of “training”, and the last thing you wanted was a doctor to brainwash your personal thoughts away. It’d taken you long enough to snap out of their original training, and you weren’t too eager to go through that again.
“Copy that.”
You jumped down from the ledge onto the gravel rooftop and wiped your palms on your thighs. It didn’t matter to you whether your target was dead, but it was strange that they sent such an experienced Widow on a surveillance mission. The guy was so intoxicated that he could barely walk upright, which meant that for the time being, your new home would be the roof. You muted your telecom and began pacing, working through a familiar plan in your head.
The Red Room was the only place you’d ever been able to call home. It was the place where your earliest memories were coagulated. While other kids dreamt of rainbows and birthday parties, you spent your days in combat training, learning tactical skills, and when you got old enough, sparring girls in matches that would end in either victory or death. You had been lucky enough to come out the victor of these matches, but there was always a cost, and it was always at the expense of another Widow.
It didn’t hurt, couldn’t hurt anymore, but you repeated their names like a mantra as you paced. The ability to express emotions had been brainwashed out of you before you could talk in complete sentences, but it had been years since you’d seen the doctor, and unbeknownst to Dreykov, you’d been independently thinking for over a year now.
Your goal, the reason you were always so eager to leave the Red Room and enter the field, was to find your birth parents. You had almost nothing to go on, other than the story that they’d been feeding you since you could remember. According to Dreykov, your mom was nothing more than a junkie that left you on the steps of a firehouse as an infant, but you’d been having dreams for months about a woman that looked just like you, and you were determined to find her.
“Do you always talk to yourself when you’re spending time on sketchy rooftops?”
You swung around, heart pounding in your chest as you readied yourself for an attack. You’d been so caught up in your planning that you hadn’t been focused on the noise around you, and for the first time since you’d become a Widow, someone had successfully snuck up on you.
Opposite you stood a tall, costumed man, covered from head to toe in red. Horns adorned the top of his masked head, and the smirk resting on his face was the only section of skin that you could make out in the darkness.
“Do you always sneak up on women in the dark?” You barked back, aiming your gun at his head.
“Only when they’re wearing more lead than clothing.”
You cocked your head, eyeing him with distaste. “You can’t possibly know that.”
“I’m right, though, aren’t I?”
You scoffed at his arrogance, but you couldn’t deny that he was right. You were wearing a lot of weapons. Every Widow did when they were on assignment.
“What do you want?” You narrowed your eyes at him.
“Who do you work for?” He returned.
It quickly devolved into a game of cat and mouse, and you weren’t planning on losing.
“Why do you care?”
“Is it Fisk?”
“Is it?”
“You work for Fisk?”
“What’s it to you?”
He swallowed, and you knew you had him, though you weren’t expecting him to lunge at you so quickly. You side stepped, narrowly avoiding the punch aimed at your face. You brought the butt of your gun down, aiming for the vulnerable skin of your attackers face. He was almost as fast as you were, catching your hand when it was millimeters away from striking his jaw and using your own momentum against you to knock the gun loose from your hold.
You didn’t give him a chance to catch his breath. Within seconds, you’d swung your leg out, catching the tip of his foot and causing him to stumble towards you. You brought your fist up, colliding knuckle with jaw in an uppercut that would knock any normal person out cold for hours. Apparently, this guy wasn’t normal, because the only outward sign that the punch had affected him was the slight shake of his head as he steadied himself.
It didn’t matter. You already had another gun in your hand, and this time, you’d shoot first and ask questions later.
“Wait.” His voice echoed around the rooftop, and for the second time that night, you hesitated. He held his hands out in front of him, a silent plea not to shoot. “You’re one of them, right? One of the Widows?”
You blinked. There was no possible way this random, costumed idiot knew anything about the Red Room. How could he? It was one of the most guarded secrets in modern history. But clearly, he knew something, and that meant he had to die. You rolled your shoulders, willing the hesitancy to leave you so you could bury this distraction and get back to your business.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
You cocked the gun, finger itching to pull the trigger. He panted, breath billowing out around him in the cold air. Why couldn’t you just pull the damn trigger?
“You were taken when you were a girl, and you trained in the Red Room, right?”
You froze, chest growing tighter with every breath you took. “You are barking up the wrong tree, dude.”
“I like this tree, I think.” A small grin crossed his face, but turned grave again quickly. “I have a – I mean, my friend is a lawyer.”
“So?” You sent him an incredulous look. This guy was all over the place.
“So, he’s helped an ex-Widow get out before. He could help you too if you want.”
Your breath hitched. Black Widows didn’t get to just leave the Red Room. You were in it until death, and there were no loopholes. You’d checked.
“That’s impossible.”
Your mind whirred with possibilities. He could be lying, but what if he wasn’t? What if he was telling the truth, and you could really escape? Was this all an elaborate plan to throw you off your game before he killed you? He did attack you first, but only after you feigned employment with the man he called ‘Fisk’.
Your ear piece crackled, and you nearly jumped out of your skin before remembering that you’d muted yourself earlier.
“Status report, Widow.”
You eyed the man in front of you. He shifted his stance, leaning ever so slightly toward you, almost like he was listening to your conversation. But that would be impossible, right?
“Widow. Report.”
You kept your gun aimed at the man and reached to unmute your telecom. This inconvenience could be cleared up so easily. All you had to do was mention the man in front of you to the man on the telecom, and a dozen Widows would be at your location in minutes. But what he’d said had managed to crawl under your skin. You wanted, no – needed to know more.
“Nothing major to report. The target is in the diner on 42nd. He’s heavily intoxicated but sobering up. Should I move in?”
“Negative. Hold your position. Your heartrate spiked on our monitors.”
“Oh.” You tried to feign innocence. “One of the residents of the building came to the roof to smoke. I ran so they wouldn’t see me.”
“Did you follow protocol?”
“Yes. It’s been handled.”
“Hold steady, Widow.”
You muted your comm again, narrowing in on the man you were still aiming your gun at.
“Is it normal for Widows to lie to the Red Room?” He asked, cocking his head.
“How do you know about the Red Room?”
“I told you. My friend’s a lawy-”
“No,” you interrupted, “How do you know about the Red Room.”
“My friend and I are…very close.” He shrugged.
“Your friend should learn to keep his mouth shut.” You finally lowered your gun, satisfied that he wouldn’t be attacking you again. “Any other Widow wouldn’t have hesitated to shoot you in the head. After torturing your friend’s name out of you, that is.”
“But you hesitated.” He pointed out, lowering his hands.
“I need the name of your lawyer friend. And I need to know that you won’t rat me out if I let you leave this roof alive.”
“You’re going to get out?”
“I’m going to try.” You shrugged. “The name, Devil-Man. And your word.”
“Nelson & Murdock. They’ll meet you where you’re at, and they’ll know what to do next.” He held out a business card. “And, I give you my word that I won’t tell a soul about our meeting tonight.”
You reached forward, gripping his wrist and pulling him towards you. Your faces were inches apart and the knife you always sheathed in your sleeve was pressed against his neck.
“If I find out that you said anything to anyone, other than your lawyer friend, I will gut you like a fish. Is that clear?”
He smirked. “Crystal.”
“Good.” You plucked the business card from his fingers and pushed off of him, apathetic towards his ability to stay upright. You leaped onto the ledge of the building, searching the diner for your target. Your eyes narrowed on the hulking mass of a man asleep in his omelet in one of the booths.
Yep. It’s going to be a long night.
A/N: Okay, this was originally a request for one fic but I definitely wayyyy over thought it and now it's a series. It'll probably be like 5-7 parts, will definitely be smutty, and will hopefully do Matty some justice. I already have part two written, and I'm hoping to get that edited and published before Monday. I hope you enjoyed! Also, this series has been added to the tag list request form, so if you'd like to update your preferences or fill out a form to be added to this series' tag list, click here!

Matt Murdock X Reader: When the world went quiet
Warning: None (that i know of), fluff
Summary: Basically it's the blip happening from Matt's perspective.
Nothing could have prepared anyone for what was about to happen. Thanos had managed to surprise even those who knew (and were actively trying to stop) his plan. Imagen how shocked the rest of the world(the ones who knew nothing about their impending doom)had been.
Matt was walking with Foggy when it all started to go down. They’d been making their way back to the office when suddenly the world around them began to change. It started with the noise of someone's car crashing into a poll nearby. Matt focused on trying to listen to what was happening.
“There’s no one inside.”
Matt's eyebrows furrowed as he listened to the strangers who were near the crashed car. How could there not be anyone inside? The car couldn’t have just turned itself on. Matt turned to grab Foggy and ask him what he saw when it happened.
“Matt….”
One moment Matt could hear the panic in Foggy's voice and then suddenly he couldn’t hear anything anymore. He tried to find Foggy's heartbeat but there was nothing there. Then it seemed like everyone around him disappeared. He couldn't hear anyones heartbeat for miles. Panic set in at that moment. What was happening? What could have possibly caused this? Where was Foggy? The questions raced through Matt's head as he desperately tried to anchor himself to reality. He couldn’t see and now there was nothing to hear for miles. The voices seemed to scream inside the hull of his skull and then one of them came out a little bit louder than the rest.
Where were you?
You’d been talking to Karen when people started to disappear. The two of you had decided to stop at a cafe before meeting up with the boys at the firm. Everythings was going fine. You ordered your beverages and were patiently waiting for them to arrive when the screaming started. Your head snapped in the direction of the sound, your eyes falling onto a woman.
“My baby girl!”
The mother cradled a blanket in her arms but there was no child in sight. You worried that there had been some sort of kidnapping, after all a small baby couldn’t just disappear by itself. You got up to console the woman when Karen's voice entered your ears. She called out your name forcing you to look back at her. The first thing you noticed was the fear in her eyes. You looked down at the hand that had been placed on the table before you turned to look at the screaming woman. Your eyes widened as you realized that there was no hand anymore, only a trail of what looked like dust. You rushed over to Karen, pulling her into your arms.
“Hey look at me. It’s okay, I'm here.”
“I don’t know what's happening.”
“Just breathe, we'll figure it out.”
You turned to ask for help only to realize that Karen wasn’t the only one being affected by whatever was happening. All around you there were people yelling others names. A thick amount of dust covered the small cafe and that's when you realized. They were turning into dust. Karen's voice called for you once more but this time when you turned around to look at your friend she was gone. You stared at the place she’d previously been, your arms feeling lighter due to her absence. Your fingers were covered in dust. Covered in her ashes. You were frozen in place. For all you knew you’d just watched your friend die in your arms. What the hell was happening? What could be killing these many people simultaneously. Where were the boys? The boys. Matt. Where was Matt? Had he too disappeared like Karen or was he out there somewhere all alone listening as people disappeared and not knowing what was going on. You steeled yourself, forcefully brushing the dust off your hands and making your way out of the cafe. You wandered the streets, your ears numb to the sounds around you. You needed to get to Matt. That is if there was still a Matt to get to. You knew that he wouldn’t go home. He'd want to know all of you were okay first. If there was one place Matt would go it was the firm. So that was where you would go.
Matt hurried along the streets of Hell's kitchen. He was so desperate that he’d forgotten to keep the harmless blind guy act up. His cane was folded in his hands as he ran towards the firm, the sounds of screams and panicked conversation filling his ears as he went. He followed the familiar scent of coffee and lavender that made up the small building that he called his law firm. The stronger the smell became the faster he ran. His heart pounded in his chest making it almost impossible to hear anything other than its persistent thumping against his ribcage. He stopped in front of the building, trying to calm his racing heart and slow his breathing. He focused his attention into trying to listen into the building.
“God please let there be a heartbeat.”
And there was. Inside the building on the exact floor of the firm there was the sound of a heartbeat. A loud panicked heartbeat. Your heartbeat.
You were huddled in a corner of Matt's office, your chin against your knees as your arms hugged your legs in place. You’d come into the office a couple of minutes prior, your heart sinking once you’d found the place empty. You’d thought off giving Matt a call but gave up on that idea once you saw his cellphone on one of the desks. It wasn’t like you’d be able to reach him anyway. Not with the amount of people you suspected were calling their loved ones. If this had been on a global scale(which you suspected it was) it would be impossible to get a good cell connection. So instead you’d found a corner and sat down. There was nothing you could do except wait. And what would happen if no one showed up? Well that was a problem for later. Luckily for you not a problem you’d have to deal with because just as you were about to give up hope you heard the door slam open followed by the sound of Matt's voice calling your name. You rushed to get to your feet racing to where the brunette was. Tears filled your eyes as you took in the sight before you. Matt's hair was a mess which meant he’d run over. His cane in his hand and the glasses he’d normally wore were tucked into his shirt pocket, allowing to see his brown eyes filled with concern. He called out your name as he placed his cane onto the desk and moved his hand out in an inviting motion. You placed your hand in his, allowing him to pull you into his embrace. Your scent invaded Matt's nostrils and he’d never been more relieved to have you in his arms. You started crying into his shoulder causing him to make soothing movements on your back with his hands.
“It happened so fast she was there and then she was gone. There was nothing i could- i don’t know how it just-”
“Shhh breath darling. Take a deep breath.”
You did as you were told, the crying making it hard to suck in the air around you.
“There you go.”
You repeated your action a couple of times and after a while it became easier to breathe. The tears no longer spilled out without control. You pulled away from Matt, using your hand to wipe away the remaining tears on your face before placing it on his cheek.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m still trying to understand what happened.”
You’d been so focused on your own emotions you hadn’t stopped to think about how horrible the ordeal had been for Matt. He’d had to rely solely on his hearing since he couldn’t see which meant that to him it just seemed like things had gone quiet all of a sudden.
“I think we should sit down.”
“Okay.”
Matt followed you to the sofa in Foggy's office. Your heart stung as you entered the room knowing that Foggy must have had the same fate as Karen. Once you were both settled in you started telling Matt what had happened at the cafe. He listened to you, his brown eyes keeping eye contact the whole time you spoke.
“So they just disappeared?”
“Actually it's more like they…like they turned to ash.”
“So like they were being burned from the inside?”
“I thought that too but it would have to hurt a lot to be burned into ash. And none of them screamed. Karen just looked….”
The image of Karen's features flashed in your mind causing you to close your eyes. Matt felt the unease in your body language so he placed his hand on top of yours. You interlaced your fingered with his and gave his hand a squeeze as if to say “thanks”.
“She looked scared. It was almost like she was seeing something that the rest of us couldn’t. I don’t know, it's just insane. You think any of your contacts might know what is going on?”
“I don’t know. Most of us are just in the small league. This sounds like something…”
“Something like?”
“Like the Avengers would deal with.”
“You don’t have Tonys number by any chance do you?”
“No. Like I said, my contacts are all vigilantes. We aren’t friends with superheroes.”
“Well, the news will have something soon. If any of them are left anyway.”
Matt stayed quiet for a second two long for your liking. You gave his hand a squeeze to get his attention.
“You alright?”
“I stopped hearing his heartbeat.”
You frowned at the pain in Matt's voice.
“He was there and then he just…wasn’t.”
“Oh Matty, I can't imagine how panicked you must have been.”
“All I could think about was you. We dealt with a lot of shit together and yeah we’ve had some close calls. But I could always hear you. Hear your heart beating somewhere. For the first time i…thought I lost you.”
Matt knew he had feelings for you but he couldn’t risk putting you in a dangerous position because of his own emotions. The people he loved were targets for his enemies so he decided to keep whatever he felt for you a secret. That way you’d be safe. Safe from him and his double life. Even when you found out that he was Daredevil he decided against confessing to you. He preferred you oblivious and safe than aware and in danger. But now seeing that things could change in milliseconds and there was nothing he could do to stop it he decided it was better if you knew.
“I couldn’t help Foggy but I hoped I could get to you in time. I hoped I'd save you.”
“Matt, it's not your fault. None of this is your fault. You couldn't have known and you couldn’t control it.”
“That’s the problem. I can’t control any of it. My whole life has just been one proof after another that I don't know what tomorrow will bring. It’s my life but it’s not up to me when it will end.”
“Matt, don't talk like that.”
“The point is there is no time like the present. I don’t know everything but I know that I want you by my side. No matter how short or long my time is. No matter what tomorrow brings, I want you with me. Even if-”
You pulled Matt into you as you latched your lips onto his. You’ve loved him for years. You’d die for him but most importantly you’d live for him. And given all that had just happened you’d realized that life was much too unpredictable to not live in the moment. So you kissed him like it’d be the last time and he kissed you back.
The years passed. You and Matt moved in together and eventually Matt had proposed. You missed your friends everyday but life had to go on. The firm remained as full as ever. It seemed not even a near apocalyptic event could make people respect the law. Matt kept living his double life and you helped him however you could. If that meant patching him up, that's what you did. And if it meant hacking into some snob's security system you were the person for the job. The world kept going as if nothing had changed but everyone knew things would never be the same as before. And then, just when you thought things had gotten back to normal(the new normal anyway) you got a call.
You’d picked up the phone like every other time it started to ring but once you’d flipped it over to see the caller your heart nearly stopped. Matt heard the irregularity in your breathing from the other room and made his way to you.
“What is it honey?”
“It’s…uh..It’s Karen.”
You swallowed harshly.
“Karen’s calling me.”
Matt was about to suggest that maybe someone else had gotten her phone number, it had been years after all. But just as he was about to speak a familiar sound started coming out of his phone.
“Foggy Nelson. Foggy Nelson. Foggy Nelson.”
You let out a gasp. One person getting Karen's number was a normal probability. Someone getting Foggy's old number was a normal occurrence. But both of you getting called at the same time by your friends was too great of a coincidence. So the calls could only mean one thing. They were back. Your friends were back. And so were other bilions people.
