Hi! .u. Can we get Zoro, Law, and Ace reacting to reader saying "You're so hot." but it being a misunderstanding because the reader meant it literally? I mean in the crushing stages, not while in a relationship.
Hi u 2!
I turned it into three short scenes full of misunderstanding and silliness, hope you like it!
Telling them "You're so hot - but you mean it literally!"
Sfw funny cute scenes about clueless and silly Law, Ace and Zoro
Ace
Tumblr media
As you stand next to him, he gets really nervous. Like...really. He accidentally starts burning. Just a bit
"Wow Ace, you're so hot" you say, laughing. Ace gets hotter. He puts a cocky grin on his face and leans over you.
"Oh girl, you must be charcoal because you make me really hot!" He drops his absolutely stupid pick up line.
"What?" You say.
"What?"he says.
"You're literally burning a hole in the planks STOP IT RIGHT NOW!" you point to the smouldering wood where he leans against the ship.
His face literally catches on fire and he runs away, puffing clouds of smoke like a train.
Law
Tumblr media
"Woah, Law! You're so hot!" You say.
"Uhm...thanks?" His eternally grumpy face crumbles a bit and reveals a lopsided smile.
"No, I mean your literally so, so hot!" You say with urgency. You're not even sure if his red cheeks are from the fever he undeniably has or if he really is flattered.
"Uhm, OK, I guess" He comes to sit next to you, really close. His thin shirt radiates with heat.
Very slowly, his hand creeps up to yours and softly squeezes. His palm is really clammy, sweaty.
"Law, you should really get to bed!" You tell him, but squeezing back.
"Whoa, so you're proposing that we..!" Law says, now a deep crimson and shaking a bit. "It's so fast, but I like it" He smiles. And yawns. He looks exhausted.
You decide that it's time to call the cavalry.
"BEPO, LAW IS REALLY HOT, GET IN HERE!" You scream for help.
"Y/n...you're so naughty! Getting another man to be with us..." Law said before collapsing.
Zoro
Tumblr media
"Zoro, you're so hot!" You say.
"Thanks, finally someone appreciates my style" he poses in front of you with his swords.
Literal heat radiates from his body - it seems he's taken training to the next level.
"You're not so bad either" He gives you a lewd look, making you blush.
"How about we get a drink together" He tries to take your hand, but he's actually so freakishly hot that you scream "ouch!", drawing your hand away.
"Fuck I really am hot!" He realises what you meant and runs toward the reiling.
"But let's get that drink anywayyyy" He shouts on his way to cool down.

Meet the Parents - Zhou Guanyu x JamaicanOlympicSwimming! Reader
Plot: Zhou wants to go on holiday to spend time with you, he’s never met your parents so of course a Caribbean holiday back to your home where your treated like a queen is the only correct decision!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I'm very nervous ..." Zhou had told you on the plane ride over. You'd been pampering yourselves using up all the first class things available.
"You don't have to be my love! They'll love you and Jamaica is so welcoming! You'll love it!" you smiled at him as you helped him put the charcoal facemask on that you'd brought in duty free.
You spent the rest of the flight chilling and drinking champagne. And trying to prep Zhou for not only meeting your family but the pure weight of travelling with you around your country.
You were the first Jamaican Gold Medalist in Swimming so in a lot of peoples eyes you were up there with the likes of Usain Bolt. Your face was everywhere ... on local drink, in random village bars and people would be able to recognize you straight away.
Zhou was familiar with the fans and the pressure of being an athlete in the eye of the media, so he was expecting something familiar to his home crowd when he raced in Shanghai for the first time. But boy was he wrong.
You were treated like royalty, like a princess. The minute you stepped of the plane at Sangster Airport you were flooded with locals coming up and offering you Mango, Bananas or Rum. Paper was shoved towards you at many different angles and you were just laughing giving out hugs and kissing cheeks until airport security came running up to you and Zhou apologizing for being delayed.
You guys were taken to your childhood home which was right on the beach, there was a pool and you'd driven past an old beach bar that you used to sneak to during school.
"Mami!" you cried seeing her out on the porch to your home.
"My beautiful girl! Come here!" she cries and pulls you into a hug as Zhou carefully steps out the car pulling out all your cases and thanking the driver.
"Ahhh! Is this my handsome son!" you mother cries seeing Zhou and you nod with a massive smile on your face. She'd been dying to meet him for a while.
"Come here!" she says and Zhou waddles forward being pulled into the woman as he wraps his arms around her.
"Dad!" you grinned as your father came jogging from round the back of the house where the pool and garden was.
"Baby!" he cries picking you up and spinning you round.
"Oh my gosh you are more beautiful than the last time i saw you" he says as you land back on the ground and he looks over you before pinching you cheek lightly.
"Oh dad, this is ..." you start but your dad is already walking over.
"Zhou! Amazing to meet you son. How was the flight over? Not too long i hope!" he asks slapping his shoulder lightly making Zhou chuckle.
"Erm, yes. I'm used to all the travel. But Y/N actually showed me the face masks she always uses so my skin, not as dry" he rambles a little on edge and your dad can immediately tell.
"Zhou, no need to be anxious you are family now!" he grins pulling him into another hug.
"Well, we'll take your bags in, why don't you show him round the house and then we can all go to the bar! You've got some people who want to see you!" you mum smiles pulling your dad back towards the cases.
"Thanks mami!" you grin kissing her cheek while your dad winks picking up the first few cases.
"Are you sure you don't want any help?" Zhou asks kindly making your mum and dad laugh and push him further into the entrance.
Your immediately welcomed by a wooden and beach living room, doors opening straight to the back garden where there are palm trees and wooden planks going to a crystal blue pool.
But Zhou's eyes are held on the trophy cabinet to the left.
"Are these all your awards?" he asks looking over them. There were tons as your parents refused to bin anything you won. Even when it was something you won when you were 4 years old.
Both of you Olympic medals were there for swimming. One Bronze, One Gold.
There were other national and international competition trophies from recent years in between the Olympics to support the vast amount of awards in the case.
"You are really special!" he smiles looking over everything and you lightly blush looking down.
"Thank you, you want to see where i learnt how to swim?" you ask looking over him, wanting to show him the white sandy beach awaiting.
"Of course!" he smiles and you take his hand in yours as you walk him down the wooden steps of the deck to the pool.
"I learnt in this pool and trained a lot in here when i wasn't old enough to go in the public pool ... but come with me! I think this is the coolest place you'll ever see" you grin and he nods following you down a cobblestone pathway that met sand.
The sight of a pure white beach following crystal blue waters met his eye and he was in awe.
"This is where i spent a lot of time as a kid. Swimming was a part of me..." you smile and Zhou cannot stop looking at you, he loved the raw passion on your face.
"You are glowing here..." he smiles and you just look over him confused as you sit down in the sand listening to the sound of the waves.
"I could get used to this" he says as he fully reclines relaxing all the season stresses off him.
"I love you Zhou..." you smile rolling onto your side and kissing his cheek.

He knows he has to tell Chrissy as soon as possible, but she'll have to wait. There's someone else he has to go through first.
He kicks off his shoes, hangs up his jacket, and accepts his fate.
"So, not a word, but I got a new tattoo."
Wayne turns away from the TV, raising one bushy eyebrow at his nephew.
"Thought you were playing DnD today."
Eddie nods his head, sways on the balls of his feet, and sighs.
"I was," he admits, and holds his hand up, palm facing his uncle.
He observes in real time as the realization hits his beloved relative and an infuriating grin spreads on his face.
"I said not a word!"
"I'm not saying anything." Wayne raises his hands innocently, the satisfied grin on his face making his wrinkles contort in joy.
"I gotta call Chris," Eddie grumbles, making a beeline for the phone. His uncle's amused gaze doesn't leave him for a second.
Chrissy is, needless to say, ecstatic. She makes plans to get ready together faster than he can explain the situation. It ends with him digging deep into his wardrobe the next day.
"I don't have any good jeans!" he exclaims, showing his friend another pair.
"Well, I want to see all of them anyway, so I can choose the ones that give you at least an illusion of an ass," she explains patiently, sitting on his bed and doing nothing else but judging.
"Rude," he murmurs, but he's aware his ass is as flat as a wooden plank so he doesn't argue. "What if he's a platonic soulmate too? What if I'm misinterpreting things again?"
"Please don't remind me." Chrissy shudders and Eddie makes a face of his own. When they first found each other, there were a couple of unsuccessful attempts at kissing before they realized they were strictly platonic. "Then he'll have to fight me because I'm not sharing. He already has his platonic soulmate, we're all due for some action."
"You know, as much as I know you," Eddie says, pulling out another pair of pants from under a pile of winter clothes. "It never ceases to amaze me how nasty you are."
"You're nasty," she throws back. "Now put these on, I wanna see some ass."
His outfit looks the same as always, with a couple of minuscule differences Chrissy insists are making a change. His pants are charcoal, not black, and his ass is almost noticeable in them, and his shirt is one of the shorter ones. If he moves his arms the right way, a sliver of his stomach will show. He barely wins the battle for his hair, though.
"We can't have the same hair!" he protests when she describes what she wants to do - a ponytail with some loose strands. She pouts, with torture devices already in hand: a brush and a scrunchie.
"I'll let my hair loose," she offers, surprising him. She always complains about hair getting in her face when it's not tied back.
"You're that determined, huh?"
She nods her head furiously.
"Fine," he sighs. "Do your worst."
In the end, he doesn't look bad, but also not exactly like he tried. Just a cleaner version of his daily look. He gets a stink eye from his friend when he throws a leather jacket over it but she doesn't say anything. She knows he doesn't have many to choose from.
They drive to the mall, where they are planning to grab ice cream before going to the cinema. When the pairs spot each other at the entrance, Steve seems to take extra joy in waving to Eddie. The dice on his palm rattles and so does Eddie's when he waves back. They both land on twenties.
Despite it all starting because of the girls, it was their first official hang-out together, so the boys hung back to give them some space. And to observe the intense stare Robin was giving Chrissy's hand, like she was too overwhelmed to touch it. Eddie could tell that Steve was barely holding back a laugh.
"What are we seeing," Eddie asks when Steve wins the fight at the register and pays for his chocolate cone.
"Some comedy about aliens. Or, there's also a romcom we can switch to."
"Nah." Both Robin and Eddie stick out their tongues with disgust.
"Well, sci-fi comedy it is."
They chat a bit at the ice cream place, mostly watching Robin and Chrissy's attempts at flirting, before moving on to the ticket booth. When Steve asks for two double seats away from each other, something must show on Eddie's face, because Steve smirks at him.
"For privacy," he says, reaching out to gently trace the outside of his hand with his fingers.
Eddie has to be pushed towards the theatre after that, too floored to move. He panics a little when separated from his soulmate, who is too engrossed in her crush to even notice.
"Hey." Steve tugs gently on the cuff of his jacket. "Relax, I'm not going to eat you. I won't even touch you if you don't want me to." He seems disappointed by that prospect but his tone is soft and genuine. Eddie knows he can trust him so he twists his wrist to squeeze his hand gently.
"It's okay. I'm just still a little surprised by it, is all," he reassures him.
"Okay." Steve squeezes back. "Just tell me if I'm too much."
"Sure."
He doesn't have to say anything, because he can barely sense his presence next to him. Other than them putting up the armrest to press their shoulders together, and Steve brushing against his hand from time to time, he doesn't press further. Eddie, though, is getting antsy, and having Steve next to him proves to be just a part of this problem. Halfway through the movie, he leans closer to his companion.
"You're never picking the movie again."
Steve groans quietly. It sounds like he's relieved.
"I know, I'm sorry," he admits his mistake. "It looked good in the trailer."
"They are supposed to look good." Eddie points out. "Wanna leave?"
Steve hesitates. They both look at where their friends are sitting. The girls are leaning towards each other though facing the screen, probably roasting the movie to shreds.
"They seem fine, I guess," Steve reluctantly agrees. Eddie stands up without further prompting and gently leads him through the dark, down the steps, and to the exit.
The light in the hall blinds them for a second but Eddie doesn't drop his hand, half-blindly pushing forward.
"Gotta use the bathroom. Then we can grab a bite or something."
"We should wait for the lovebirds," Steve protests.
Eddie rolls his head to the side, not sharing the sentiment.
"I don't know, they seem fine without us."
"But it's a double date," Steve presses.
"Okay Harrington, we can just hang around the mall I guess. Until that sad excuse of a movie ends." He gives in, shaking his head.
Steve seems happy with getting his way, which weirdly makes Eddie feel the same.
They ease their grip on each other only when they reach the bathroom. Without a word they enter stalls far away from each other, figuring the urinals would make it too awkward. When they are washing their hands minutes later, Steve gives him a grin through the mirror.
"We have the bathroom all to ourselves, you know?"
Eddie raises an eyebrow, something in his gust twisting with nervous anticipation.
"Yeah? You wanna murder me or something?"
"Uh, no?" Steve's smile falls. "I just— Sorry, that was stupid. Forget I said anything," he sighs, threading his fingers through his perfectly coiffed hair.
Eddie turns sideways to face him, his hip digging into the sink.
"You know, Chris and I tried dating for like a week after we found out. Kissing her felt wrong, like I was kissing my sister, but we were both convinced we were interested in each other like that."
Steve makes a face.
"Yeah, I was so sure I had a crush on Robin for a while. But then she said she's strictly into girls and we quickly realized we're twins separated at birth." He smiles. "So I uh, understand why you'd want to feel things out first." He nods.
But Eddie bites his cheek.
"That is the opposite of what I'm saying."
Steve cocks his head, brows furrowed. He has mirrored Eddie's stance, leaning against the sink.
"What are you saying?"
"Yeah, I do wanna feel things out, but I think kissing would be most efficient."
Steve doesn't hide the smile that grows on his face. Eddie bristles at that, mostly from anxiety and embarrassment. He chuckles nervously.
"Okay, your excitement scares me a bit. You really wanna kiss me that bad?"
"I don't think you realize how kissable you are." Steve shifts a bit like he's getting ready to pounce. "Can I?"
"Be my guest." Eddie waves his hand and straightens up himself, his minimal experience making him unsure of the proceedings.
He's expecting a straightforward kiss, but it's not what he gets. Steve slides closer, his heavy hand landing on his side. His face is right there, but instead of his lips, there is a feather-light touch on his nose, where Steve gently traces it with the tip of his own, inhaling his skin. Eddie breathes softly and okay holy shit there goes the first soft peck on his lips. Then another. And two more, until he's softly murmuring "Stop teasing" against them, prompting Steve to capture his lips in a proper kiss.
There's nothing of the confusion from his kisses with Chrissy. This time the emotions are easy to pinpoint and decipher. They grow like an itch at the tips of his fingers, eager to touch, and he indulges by wrapping his arms around the man in front of him. They take a couple of wobbly steps towards the wall until Eddie can comfortably lean against it, trapped between cold tiles and Steve's warm body.
"Does it feel platonic?" Steve leans back to ask, his hand sneaking under his jacket to slide over his hip, scorching hot without the thick layer of leather.
"My dick says no," Eddie answers, making Steve snicker.
"Well, my dick agrees with yours."
They look into each other's eyes, a new form of understanding weaving between them, a bond more complex than the matching tattoos on their palms. They are each other's and there is nothing platonic about it.
Eddie muffles an unsexy sound of laughter, held back in his throat. Steve's lip wobbles.
"Maybe they should touch, they might be soulmates too."
The dam bursts, and they start laughing uncontrollably.
"Oh my god," Steve wheezes out, leaning heavily on Eddie. "You're so stupid."
"You're stupid," Eddie counters between laughs, shoving him before wrapping his arms back around him. Their tight embrace is the only thing holding them up while they laugh against each other.
They barely register the sound of the door opening, but catch the movement with the corners of their eyes. They turn in unison and spot a guy, frozen in shock by the sight of them: two guys holding one another up in a fit of laughter. The three men look at each other in silence, until Eddie squeaks and it starts all over. The man runs into the stall furthest away.
Eddie shoves Steve away, and Steve shoves back. They start a half-hearted slapfight until Steve catches his right hand, the one with the tattoo, and kisses the inside of his palm. Eddie's eyes go wide.
Steve grins and skips out of the bathroom.
"Hey!" Eddie calls after him, quickly following. "Not fair!"
Tumblr media
The girls find them lounging on the sofas in front of the theatre, poking each other with Twizzlers. Or maybe feeding each other. The scene is unclear, but the wide smiles on the men's faces are unmistakable.
"Twizzler?" Steve offers to his soulmate while poking Eddie's cheek with the candy. The man catches it with his teeth and tries to pull it from his grasp.
"Sure, thanks." Robin grabs one from the pack without batting an eye. "I get it the date was a success?"
"Was yours?" Eddie asks back, looking at Chrissy with a Twizzler hanging from his mouth.
"Yeah." She grins, hip-checking Robin.
The girl blushes, chewing on her candy intensely. She's avoiding Steve's gaze but his stare only intensifies. He's basically peeling his eyelids back to burn a hole in her forehead with his eyes only.
"Did you guys kisssss?"
"Robin. Robin. ROBIN. Don't ignore me."
"I know you can hear me. ROBIN!"
She flinches when he mentally yells at her and he raises an eyebrow now that he has her attention. She glares at him.
"We did. Did you?"
He smiles smugly.
"Duh."
She snorts.
The exchange doesn't go unnoticed by their other soulmates.
"What was that about?" Chrissy asks first with a frown. But before any of them can answer, Eddie suddenly grips Steve's knee.
"Holy shit!"
Steve looks at him. Eddie's eyes are wide and full of awe, which is becoming his favorite expression on the man.
"Can you read each other's minds?!"
"Uh, yeah," Steve admits, suddenly sheepish about the ability he's been so happy to have. And which impressed the little nerds to no end. And the big nerd too, apparently. If the way he started shaking his knee was anything to go by.
"Steve! My man! My soul!" Steve can't help but laugh at his exaggerated antics. "Magic tattoo? Mind reading? What other freaky shit can you do?"
"Well, the mind reading is more Robin than me..."
"Still!"
"...and the other freaky shit I don't show on the first date." He grins cheekily.
Eddie's mind goes blank for a second, his excitement freezing as he reboots and processes what he just heard. Steve's grin only widens. He might like this reaction even better.
Robin makes a retching sound, as she does, so he flips her the bird, as he does. Chrissy, though, has an evil smile that lets him know she'll be a great co-schemer in making Eddie squirm.
"Uh-huh." Eddie's mind has rebooted by now, so he looks back to him. "Next date when, then?" he asks. He tries not to look too eager but fails miserably.
"I'm free tomorrow?"
"Perfect." Eddie grins at him. Steve picks his hand up from his knee and gives the tattoo there a gentle kiss. He bites back a smile at the soft gesture.
"Do you guys have any soulmate abilities?" Robin asks, always the mood ruiner. She makes another dive for the candy and Steve lets her have the bag. He'd rather hold Eddie's hands anyway. They're a bit sticky from the Twizzler fight, but he doesn't mind. Maybe he should lick them clean...
"Well..." Chrissy trails off, and it immediately picks up his curiosity.
"Don't say it," Eddie hisses at her, eyes narrowed. She shrugs with a teasing smile.
"They're gonna find out anyway. Besides," she pouts and gives him her best puppy eyes. (Steve is very impressed, after all, game recognizes game.) "Are you ashamed of our bond?"
Eddie seethes.
"I fucking hate you," he says, but doesn't stop her from saying what she wants to. He just looks away and Steve observes his cheeks going progressively redder.
"Eddie knows my cheering routine by heart."
Eddie makes a displeased sound in his throat and refuses to look back at him.
"Really?" Robin sounds impressed. "So you guys can perform together?"
"Yup. And we do. My cheer squad fucking hates it."
Steve can't help but imagine him among the cheerleaders, in a matching dress. It would show off most of his hairy thighs, and his long legs. He'd have to tie his hair up like today so they don't go in the way while he's jumping and cheering for Steve's team, pompom's shaking, skirt flipping up when he spins—
"Where the fuck did your mind just go?" Eddie's voice brings him back to reality. His face is still red, but his eyes are now narrowed in an attempt to look threatening.
"Can I see it?" he asks in lieu of an answer, though it's probably enough to clue him in. "In a cheer outfit, preferably?"
Eddie starts to sputter out protests, but Chrissy grins mischievously at Steve.
"I can make that happen."
He knew he was going to love her.

prompt: reader summons a warrior (ghost) from beyond the grave to come to her father’s aid (circa 400-500 ad, northern europe or somewhere abouts).
-
It is an old enchantment that you use to drag him out of the grave. One buried in books and tucked away under floorboards in old larders, last used by old crones hundreds of years before your birth, before your grandmother’s birth.
You didn’t have much of a choice though. Not when the earth rattled under the footsteps of an army a hundred thousand strong, just a handful of miles outside of the borders of your father’s land. Not when your father sat hunched in the tent, head buried in his hands when you peered in through the crack in the opening. Not when families fled in the middle of the night, more willing to take their chances with the wolves in the forest than face certain death with the coming of Marakov’s warriors.
So you find the book that your grandmother once told you about in a hushed voice by a dwindling fire. Back when you were only knee high and shouldn’t have remembered. You do though. You pried the planks of wood out one by one at dawn until your fingers trembled and your torn nails throbbed. Stole far off into the forest past where the guards could find you, until the mulch squelched beneath your feet and the trees broke to let in just enough light for you to whisper the words out into the cold air.
He comes the day after you summon him, the day after praying to an old god that someone come to your aid. Hewn from stone or muscle; pelt-draped. Eyes like blue granite, charcoal rimmed, and he speaks to your father in a low rumble like he didn’t come unannounced from the wild. Still, your father listens and they disappear inside his tent.
When you ask your father’s second, he isn’t much help.
“Says his name’s Ghost,” Garrick grunts, whittling at his post by the riverside. “Dunno where from. Price trusts him. Says he’ll bring twice the men we have if we help him with Marakov.”
He does too, even though you conjured him out of thin air. In the days that follow, more and more men follow the river, arriving with horses and caravans and leathers, swords sheathed at their sides.
Ghost approaches you after what feels like weeks, following behind when you bring the laundry to the river to wash. You find the name suits him. He’s silent as a ghost from where he stands yards behind you.
“You know, it’s rude to stare,” you say, staring at your own reflection in the water, cocksure in your voice but still too nervous to turn around and meet his eyes. You rub a coarse brush over the clothes piled on the smooth stone you use for washing.
Something touches your hair. Your head snaps up to find him just beside you now, ankle-deep in the river with you.
His voice is lower than the shifting of the earth when it trembles. “You are the little witch that called me up. Speak it.”
You drop the brush. It sinks, glug glug, into the waters below. Your throat swells up but you nod. “They—they think you’re real.”
“I was real,” Ghost murmurs, and the finger that plays with a lock of your hair becomes a hand clenched in the delicate strands, pulling you forward. Water sloshes around your legs when you stumble into him. “I was real once, a long time ago. Then I died. I must have slept a thousand years before a little girl woke me up to come fight her war in another time.”
There’s nothing you can say to that, so you nod again. He looks pleased with your honesty. It does not dissuade him from bending his head and breathing heavily into your ear. This close, it’s impossible to avoid the broadness of him, more mountain than man.
“I’ll fight your war, little witch,” Ghost murmurs into the shell of your ear. “But come the dawn of the last day, you will owe me for disturbing my rest. I exact payment in blood.”
For the first time ever, it’s you that trembles instead of the earth.
The women and children are ushered far away into the forest on the day that Marakov is seen on the horizon, the skinned head of a wolf draped over his head. A young boy clings to you as carry him and baskets of food and your belongings deep into the woods. You can already hear the screams in the fields behind you, the roar of men; smell it damp like soil, like the living thing that eats the dead.
“It’s done,” he says to you on the seventh day when you and the young ones return, the battlefields still steaming. The air smells of rust.
You don’t need to agree. It’s plain as day. You’ve already helped with the funeral arrangements for the men who didn’t come back; you’ve helped with eulogies and collecting kindling for the pyres.
“You’ll leave now,” you say, with some certainty, no matter how begrudging.
You can picture it so easily, Ghost rising from the bog like a Gallic warrior; his eyes are so charged with life that you flinch back. You cannot look. You cannot look away. He is a thousand years older than your oldest dreams. His nights in the earth are infinite now—maybe always were—his dreams being darker than night-falling rain. He cannot begrudge you touching him, but you taking him out of the earth is unforgivable. He had to return.
You think this and then he smiles. “Not without my prize.”
Your eyes go wide when he takes you by the arm, mouth opening on a scream. It is a scream that never comes, that sinks back into the earth whence it came.

I would love a "Sorry, but I Think I Lost Your Plot" in the POV of Hiccup again. The way you write from his perspective is great to read, especially with him fumbling (literally and figuratively) around our reader.
Sorry, but I Think I Lost Your Plot pt 16
Pairing: Onesided!Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III x Modern!Fem!Reader
Words: 2,107
Hiccup talks to his dad and does some illegal town-ly maintenance. Stoick finally asks Hiccup to stop following you but he’s unfortunately a little late on the draw.

Hiccup stared out a crack in the door, pulling on the corner of his coat.
There was a short crunch from off to the side as he wondered what had brought you up the hill.
He could try the colored tailfins again. That was sure to catch your attention.
Hiccup had spent his afternoon hiding around corners shiftily, carrying seeds he’d just picked up from the docks and secreted away in his coat, sneaking back to his home.
Someone had been hoarding them, and it took him a pretty penny to get his hands on.
He’d never saved anything ever and he worked at the forge scott free so it was more like something he’d have to pay in favors. Hopefully it was worth it.
He saw you walking down the hill from his house to the village and peered down at your retreating back as you became a speck, standing up on his toes in order to try and get a better look as the angle of his house on the hill became more and more of an issue.
He made a mental note to ask his Dad about why you were up there later.
He heard another crunch from the side.
Hiccup wasted barely a moment to shoot Toothless a look of betrayal, half marred by betrayal at his nonchalance as the Night Fury chewed on kindling and tracked it all over the house.
Said dragon’s head was low to the ground as he brunched through solid charcoal, paws awkwardly gripping the nearly horizontal end of the log.
His Dad was definitely not going to like that.
He promised himself that he was going to throw an eel into the fireplace when he had an eel. Hiccup made a note to jot that down for later.
His stupid dragon could be bought out by fish pretty easy on a normal day, but never when it came to his kindling.
He’d clean it up later.
He spent a moment longer looking outside at sunny fields and almost didn’t notice the heavy beating of footsteps behind him and the shutting of the backdoor.
“Hiccup.”
He startled, turned and smiled awkwardly, face and shoulders stiff as he turned around, feeling and probably looking like a plank of wood.
Knowing he was there didn’t ever make it any easier.
He was met face to chest with his Dad, who he had to crane his head to look up at, looming above him.
His Dad talked to him to confirm if he was coming home that night for family dinner instead of going to the hall, something which no one else did. Hiccup wasn’t even sure if that was a privilege only they got or something.
Family dinners were definitely a new thing and Hiccup wasn’t sure how he felt about them, especially when most were spent chewing in silence.
He wasn’t sure if they could really be called family considering they were missing a very important member.
He had also, coincidentally, been avoiding his Dad.
Especially when he breached the subject of girls. But Hiccup wasn’t sure his Dad knew which girl Hiccup liked. He was able to shoot off a quick excuse and run for it, usually. He was very good at that.
But really, who had he been talking to? Gobber?
His father cleared his throat awkwardly, glancing towards the door and back at his son, “So, you like-”
Definitely Gobber.
“Nope, no,” Hiccup said in a tone he hoped was dry, shoulders stiff as he stared at the wall out of the corner of his eye,  ignoring the slightly cold sweat that was beginning to gather at the back of his neck, “Can we talk about something else?”
Stoick gave him a look, “Don’t be following her around, you hear?”
“Huh?” Hiccup asked, voice cracking awkwardly.
Hiccup shoveled a palmful of dirt over a small lump in the ground with his hands, knees digging into the overturned dirt below, feeling pleased with himself.
He sat back on the ground, pulling his legs out from under him to sit in something resembling a loose leg cross.
He dropped his hands into the dirt, not minding the grit as it dug under his nails.
He stared at the good sized pouch by his side, mostly empty.
Getting ahold of the seeds was difficult considering you were the one and only delivery girl on Berk.
The package was a sort weighty, though nothing anywhere near unmanageable.
He wondered if it would be appropriate to get you a satchel or something. He could make it out of some of the leather he had left lying around the forge. He could pull out some tools, too, and print a few knots around the border of the hypothetical top flap.
The beads dotted around the twine encircling his wrists and lining the draws of his tunic shifted, making a sort of barely noticeable crumpling noise as he moved.
You gave him a lot of those. Did that count as you liking him back?
Hiccup groaned, leaning back on his hands and blinking into the sky, then closing his eyes.
He’d never been the type to wear jewelry -he’s always imagined that to be Snotlout’s thing, he always eyed that one guy down by the docks with the nose ox ring- but you gave them to him.
He, against all odds, liked them a lot.
He wasn’t a planter, either. He hated it, actually. But… You said it. Girls liked flowers. Girls where you came from liked flowers. Girls here liked flowers, maybe. Hiccup never asked.
How long did it take roses to grow, anyways?
Hiccup shifted slightly, staring at one end of a scaled wall, debating whether or not it was a good time for him to bolt away from the flowerbed he was crouched on, despite the permission he’d gotten to be there.
Certain types of dragon dung made plants grow faster. He picked that up from some of the grain harvesters down by the fields, overheard it while he was messing around when he was younger, definitely illicit and something that they didn’t want getting back to his Dad then and something that, recently, Fishlegs was amicable enough to confirm.
Hiccup made an expression he hoped conveyed his appropriately sectioned disgruntlement.
He poured some into the large dragon feed bins. When the dragons dropped dung from the sky, they’d also be dropping rose seeds. They didn’t pass through dragons like they did other animals. Hopefully no one noticed.
Maybe he could find an import somewhere for a full bush. But he didn’t have anything to trade.
He didn’t even know if there were full rose bushes in the Archipelago.
Once they sprouted, convincing the other Vikings to take care of the rose bushes was going to be difficult, if the sprouts didn’t get trampled first.
He could pass it off as some public service effort, but really he was just doing it to try and woo you. The public service thing would definitely please his Dad, though.
Oh, gods. Hiccup was hit with immediate regret.
The dragons were definitely going to burn the rose bushes and he would have spent a handful of coins for nothing.
Could he paint the roses? He still had paint left from the other day. It made great fireproofing. He thought about making a mask, or something. That would be cool.
How much water did roses need, anyways?
He had no idea how he was going to convince his Dad that pipes were worth the resources it’d take to make and maintain them.
He imagined talking about it over the dinner table. Definitely not.
“What are you doing?” Came the deep-ish squeaks of a voice, probably a mirage, called to him like a fairy or a fae or a troll or something evil because he thought it. He ignored the thick shadow that overcame him.
“I can help!” The voice of Fishlegs squeaked again.
Hiccup glanced to the side, where indeed Fishlegs was looming over him, “Unless you like growing things, you can’t help me”
“I like gardening,” Fishlegs insisted, “And I’d… I’d like some flowers for R-my mother!”
“Roses?” Hiccup asked, leaning on his knees.
“Oh-oh!” Fishlegs said, “If you need help, if you’re trying to- you know, for her- she and my mother-”
He scowled again, feeling sort of grumpy and a little bit sad.
Hiccup definitely didn’t have a mother for you to learn with. And he wasn’t sure he wanted to take advice from the lord of suck. Again. Even if it was good advice.
“R-Right, well, nevermind about that,” Fishlegs continued, though Hiccup didn’t pay as much attention to why, “You need help growing roses?”
“No,“ Hiccup urged, miming to Gobber, arms waving from where he stood, alarm rocketing up his spine, secreted away in the shadows of an alley with Toothless.
Said Gobber was too busy peering around Hiccup’s father’s side to pay him any mind, roughly pushing his Dad’s tough, metal plated shoulder, urging him forwards.
Hiccup pulled his prosthetic out of the slightly sunken ground, where it had dipped in after he had tried to go around patting down damp upturned dirt with his boot, a leftover from the other day he’d spent planting seeds around Berk with Fishlegs.
Toothless, being Toothless, snorted, nodding to both Gobber and Hiccup’s father, blending slightly in with the shade in which both he and Hiccup hid.
Hiccup glared at him.
Toothless dropped his eyelids and stared blankly back as if asking Hiccup what he expected.
“I know, Bud. You don’t need to say it,” He grumbled.
How a dragon could be so expressive was lost on him.
There was obviously not much Hiccup could do to rebuke him, a few tons heavier and a lot more fiery in the throat than Hiccup himself in a very literal way, but he was sure he was going to kick the Night Fury off his bed the next time he tried to crawl in.
Hiccup liked it better when he was sleeping on his own anyways. Unless, of course-
Toothless smack him on the back of his head with his tail.
“Ow,” Hiccup rubbed his head, grumbling at his dragon.
Toothless slept on the foot of his bed some weekends which was a pain in the leg. Time two when, on special occasions only, he tried to set it on fire in his sleep.
You were standing in the sunlight, booted toes digging into the dirt, looking quite confused with a pile of possibly clean laundry in your arms, draped over both and occupying the grip of one hand, a coat with the Thorston crest thrown over your shoulders.
Stoick looked back at you with a blank expression, his large beard twitching. His helmet seemed to cover half his face as he stared blankly forwards.
He looked sort of exhausted by the situation as you stared back, with another thin package in your other, free hand.
Hiccup couldn’t believe it.
Gobber tried to nudge his father forward again with his hammer arm, which didn’t do much. Even jumping into Stoick with his shoulder didn’t do anything and Stoick didn’t move an inch until he chose to move his feet, looking back at Gobber tiredly.
“What is your relationship with my son?”
“Huh?” You asked. He heard your voice vaguely from where he stood, not particularly hidden around the bend of a large house frame.
You seemed very focused on his Dad, though. Anyone would be in the situation. At least, that’s what Hiccup thought.
Everything in him burned with embarrassment. A little bit of him was very irritated with his Dad, sort of annoyed, too.
Who tipped him off, anyways?
“How…” Hiccup’s Dad looked down at the card, comically small compared to his large hands, “Do you handle responsibility?”
Gobber threw his hands up in the back, waving them around like very thick sausages, freezing only when, finally, he caught Hiccup’s eye, frozen like a Terror on top of a fish barrel.
“Do you have any parents who would be open to discussion about-” Stoick asked gruffly, looking very unimpressed as Gobber walked up and tried to smack him on the back of his head, gesturing towards where Hiccup was hidden in an alley, trying to turn his attention away from you and only him.
Tried, being the key word.
Hiccup choked back a yelp as he half scrambled half backed very dignifiedly further back into the alley, swearing to the Gods Almighty that- Well, that- He couldn’t do much on his Dad’s front but he was definitely never talking to Gobber again.
