🧜‍♀️ Marie Antoinette, Chaotic, Clownfish Mermaid 🧜‍♀️ MY PROCESS ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In this Carousel of Images you can see the Timelapse videos of how I approach sketching for my #mfa_mermay🧜‍♀️ projects. I’m working on a Cintiq Companion in Clip Studio Paint Pro. I’m using the medium, sepia toned background, because the lack of high contrast is easier on the eyes. 👀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the first video I briefly explain what is meant by “Posing” in art. It is a term I learned as an animation student. Every character has a different way of moving; just as you can usually recognize someone you know from a far based on the way they walk, a pose should tell who that character is and what is happening to them in a split second. If you took away all the details and are left with the negative and positive shapes (like a shadow on a white background) you should still know who this character is and what she’s about. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Showing “Chaotic” as an emotion is a challenge! 🤗 I struggled with this one. 🤔What does chaotic mean to you? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the second video I’m adding more details and structure to help define the story. Even though this is a single image, I’m always thinking of the story that is happening to this character. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the third I’m taking the rough sketch to the clean level I need it to be before transferring the artwork onto paper. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I carve and chip alway at my artwork like a sculptor until something I like emerges from nothing.
