To be fair: Serpico and Farnese barely have any interactions even in Conviction. Most of their bond is presented during Serpico's flashback at the start of Millenium Falcon, and even then that's mostly through Serpico's pov
Really when you think about it their relationship is a bit one sided: it's Serpico who has a near admiration for Farnese, especially due to him knowing the truth about their parentage. But to Farnese Serpico has always just been her loyal servant. Past her trying to propose her love for him and escape together even Serpico notes that their relationship stayed as just a master/servant type. Farnese certainly cares about Serpico, given that he was the first person she's ever had any type of relationship with and has been with her since forever, and it can be seen when she was about to fall off the Church roof as she kept screaming his name while he was fighting the Kelpie ,but it doesn't seem like she harbors for him the same type of affection that he has for her
Case in point: you always see Serpico thinking about Farnese but never the other way around
They have certainly interacted more back then - I'm thinking of a scene where Farnese reminds Serpico that she and only she is his master, IIRC because he didn't want to blindly obey an order of hers.
But you're right that the story doesn't explore Farnese's feelings for Serpico after that rejected love confession. I can understand her acting coldly towards him when she's still leader of the Holy Iron Chain Knights, because she wants to pretend nothing happened between them because she is still in denial about her true emotions, but afterwards you'd think she'd reconsider him, even as a way to say "I don't see you as my servant anymore, but as my friend".
Serpico was, from what I have interpreted, the human equivalent of Farnese's blanket: a reliable source of safety, the one she has always desperately craved. But now, that source is Guts. And between her feelings for him and her focus on taking care of Casca, it does feel like Serpico has been pushed to the side, while Serpico is still unwaveringly loyal and cares for her both as his Lady and as his sister.
I don't mind the idea that he's more attached to her than the other way around, or even that she detached herself as a way to grow more independent, but it was a missed opportunity to develop them even more.
#berserk#farnese de vandimion#serpico#hot take: as a character i prefer pre-character development farnese#i do appreciate her growth a lot!#but i found her more complex during the conviction arc#and i think her power over serpico is one of the reasons why#big fan of those master/dog relationships :p and i like the psychology behind farnese's need to feel powerful#but eh it is what it is#i still love farnese as she is but it's a shame there was a shift in relationships

Idk I too want better for Casca but I really dislike the hype for Casca potentially becoming an apostle, these users put it far better than i would:
https://www.tumblr.com/deripmaver/723418827650727936/why-i-am-a-hater-of-the-apostle-casca
https://www.tumblr.com/deripmaver/723493450382802944/im-so-happy-to-find-another-casca-apostle-hater https://
I skimmed these posts to see whether there were any points made that I felt like "responding" to, and there's a few.
First, Casca being a good person has nothing to do with anything except people not wanting her to become a monster, which I obviously don't vibe with because I think the concept of a good person becoming a monster fucks hard, which is one reason I like Berserk a whole lot. And I think a potential Moonbaby sacrifice would fit perfectly with one of the "good person" sacrifice examples they give: the 'person you loved the most and hated the most' sacrifice motivation, since it's intertwined with Griffith in some metaphysical way and it could be a two for the price of one deal. It's almost too on the nose.
Second, I don't think it necessitates Casca joining Griffith. Griffith seems to be out of the Godhand now, incarnated on the physical realm, presumably no longer presiding over sacrifices, and my favourite worldbuilding pet theory is actually that the godhand and Griffith will be at odds. Something's gotta threaten the godhand's existence since something wiped out the last cycle that we saw in Skull Knight's memory, and an incarnate fifth that appears right on schedule seems like just the thing.
Third, Casca's apostle trauma is, if anything, a sign in favour of her becoming an apostle since like, everyone in Berserk is at least tempted to symbolically become their abuser/rapist/nemesis as part of gaining power, eg:
Why can't Casca get in on the interesting and complicated moral and emotional greys here? This is good shit, I want it for Casca. I want her to be tempted to become what she fears, to escape her own sense of powerlessness through abandoning her morals. It's just a more direct version of Guts wanting to become a monster since that's rooted in rape trauma and both the narrative and Guts himself equates monsters to both his rapist and abuser.
I didn't see them mention the fact that apostles are compelled to love Griffith which to me seems like one of the best arguments against it (though again, I skimmed so maybe I missed it), but Ganishka resisted that, and Casca has a long history of repressing her love for Griffith so I think it could actually be a neat, and overcomeable extension of her human feelings.
Another big and better argument against it, particularly after the last couple chapters, is that Miura clearly just did not give a shit about Casca lol. And I mean I already knew that, one reason I thought the apostle Casca theory held water is that it would be a way for Miura to avoid writing Casca's trauma realistically and instead veer into one big dramatic moment followed by fantastical metaphor while keeping her a less nuanced plot point, albeit a more active and fun one than she had been so far. Instead his way of avoiding writing Casca's trauma realistically was to have her faint any time she thinks about it and then take away her personality AGAIN. So yeah, unfortunately I just don't think Miura wanted Casca to be badass and actively affect the plot. Idk if he ever knew what to do with her after deciding not to kill her off just to motivate Guts post-Eclipse.
Finally I just don't know if there's really time for that anymore. My vision was an Empire Strikes Back style end of second act downturn. Casca becomes a monster and sets a new arc in motion, Guts falls into despair and succumbs to the armour, shit gets real and interesting again for a while. Instead Guts' second act downturn is being mad that Griffith is still a god lol. She could definitely still go apostle at the climax of the story, and you better believe I'm still rooting for that, but idk if it'd be as satisfying lol. But I guess we'll see.
Anyway yeah you're free to disagree with any of my hot takes, but you're not gonna convince me Casca shouldn't become an apostle, because my reasoning ultimately boils down to "I would enjoy it." I would certainly enjoy it a hell of a lot more than fainting damsel in distress Casca which is what we're dealing with right now lol. If your reasoning boils down to "I would not enjoy it" then I probably won't convince you either, and that's fine. We'll find out what's going to happen eventually.
And finally I want to err on the side of caution and make it clear that I have no interest in arguing with the user you linked, and I hope you're not planning to be like, some kind of anonymous go-between linking posts back and forth. I used the linked posts as a bouncing off point to explain some of my reasoning, and that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned.
#character: casca#theme: speculation#theme: behelit#theme: sacrifice#theme: inner monster#ask#anonymous#theme: revenge#a#b#also at the end of the day there is still the question of 'who the hell else is gonna use the behelit?'#guts has his armour he's spoken for in terms of manifesting inner darknesses#anyone else would need their motivation to be both established and executed between now and then which feels intrinsically#unsatisfying to me and a waste of a lot of time we could've been spending on foreshadowing#the exception being serpico who has motivation if farnese dies lol which lbr would suck. and who would he sacrifice?#casca is the only character with a thoroughly established reason to despair plus 3 potential readily available sacrifices#(moonbaby griffith and farnese) plus heaps of ominous foreshadowing surrounding her#plus hey she just got an animal motif to utilize

it's really too bad that the writing in berserk completely went out the window from the conviction arc on (yeah yeah it was bad before but it was compelling. don't lie) because there ARE good elements in it. like the berserker armor is super cool as a concept i'm really into it but the way it's used is just kinda mid like miura you had themes (knighthood, sexual trauma, The Body, to name a few). where did they go. turn the moe video games off
#and i love farnese serpico and even schierke and i'm not opposed in principle to the dnd traveling party thing#(i love the i thought never again could i watch the sun set and be this calm scene. and i like maritime adventures)#but it gets so boringgg and everyone is reduced to a caricature of their own character like hellooo miura did you turn this into fairy tail#blah

I might have to write my own in-depth analysis about how Farnese is the better Azula. Idk people get weird when you point out that Azula was underdeveloped and that it's a valid reason for not caring about her. The writing for her character, even in the show, is very soggy lettuce grade and you can't really say that about Farnese
#other interests#berserk#i like serpico more but holy shit farnese's character arc went harder than it needed to

Is there a pet squad? It seems like every time I see something new about a character, it that they end up with a pet. So like the pet avengers or dc superpers version in ties that bind au a possible thing? Also who on both sides has a pet?
I DID NOT INTEND MOST OF THEM but animals just. Happen to some of these folks XDXD
Lesse...
AUTOBOTS:
Esmeralda the cat (Prowl and Jazz) - Jazz brought her back during one of his missions, Prowl basically became the dad who's like "I don't want pet" and a month later has her riding on his shoulders.
Dakshi the ovcharka (Kup) - Big dumb, big fun and big monstrous when you get him in the mood. Usually found roughousing with the Wreckers.
Molly the cattle dog (Ironhide) - Little dynamo of a dog, absolutely bouncing off the walls since she has no cattle to HERD NOW so she herds people instead.
Dunedan the Irish Setter (Mirage) - An old gentleman like his owner and Mirage's sightdog during hunts.
Avalon's Renaissance the horse (Mirage) - A riding horse who has seen better days and now enjoys leisurely canters with her master through the woods of Alpha Trion's estate.
Bigwig the rabbit (Bumblebee) - Is a gift to Bee from Optimus! Is also a right bastard to anyone not Bee, Bee's friends or OP.
An assortment of medical leeches (Ratchet) Many are named, mostly off famous vampires, and they live in a tempest prognosticator he had specially made for them.
A flock of pigeons (Optimus Prime) All are named and wear tags. OP doesn't have a favorite, and refers to them as his Mantiq Altair.
A murder of crows (Drift) They are not individually named, since Drift doesn't really consider them pets in a traditional sense, he simply feeds them and they see him as a human friend and bring him little gifts as such. However, he does refer to them affectionately as "The Crass Ones", because Sludge once asked him what these birds are called (he has some speech issues from the experimentation done on him and is working on remembering names of things around him) and while Drift told Sludge they were crows, he also told Sludge they were known as 'Karasu' in his language. Sludge misconstrued it as 'crass', became distressed and gently asked them to be kind to the nice man feeding them, and Drift found that so sweet/funny that the name stuck.
Tabiba the dove (First Aid) - A gift for First Aid from her uncle, Hotspot, when she graduated medical school.
Serpico the German Shepherd (Nightbeat) - Was the K9 Nightbeat worked most often with while he was a cop, and when he left to go underground/work from the shadows, he 'liberated' Serpico and Serpico chose to go with him rather than stay at the precinct. Is Nightbeat's scenthound and 'bodyguard' during stakeouts.
Lelaps and Boudicca the Maned-subtype Turbofoxes (Alpha Trion) - These were former sentry hounds of the Quintessons and were freed/reprogrammed by the Primes to help them instead.
DECEPTICONS
Old Fella the Pit Bull (Barricade) - Was rescued from an illegal fighting pit, and has long passed his best days. Was intended to be rehomed, but Barricade grew too attached to him, and with Megatron's blessings, decided to keep him instead.
Najmina the falcon (Skywarp) - Skywarp's pride and joy, and his scout during recon missions.
Buster the Jack Russell (Thundercracker) Your standard Jack Russell Terrorist so named because she would bust everyone's balls (her original name was 'Ballbuster') at Marissa Fairborne's base. With Marissa's encouragement, was adopted by Thundercracker who was feeling lost after leaving the Decepticons and needed an 'anchor'/something to care for while he figured out a new purpose in life.
Mollica the British Shorthair cat (Nickel) - One of those "there is a cat in my house, I do not own a cat" situations. This thing just sauntered into the DJD's quarters, almost slapped Tarn's mask off when he grabbed her and Nickel immediately fell in love and insisted on keeping her if only for her audacity. Her being around Tarn has not endeared him to her one bit
Graymalkin the Sphynx cat (Starscream) - Post war, adopted by Starscream as a companion.
