FF6 Characters Body Types

For a while I wondered about Sabin’s body type. His concept art and sprite make him look very bulky, but I always assumed that he should have the size of a martial artist. I had Bruce Lee in mind until I heard that he did some body-building (so his physique was not the product of ass-kicking alone). Then I remembered that the game gave official height and weight for the characters, so here’s a comparison of Body Mass Indexes🙃

Ahem 🧐 Mah boi is bigger than Thor, so going by the official data, there has to be some intentional, targeted, measured, disciplined, strict body-building in his routine. Some source said that Hemsworth was eating like a mf every 2hrs when bulking. Actors change their bodies too quickly and too often, so the changes don’t “stick” and the body quickly returns to its baseline.

For this to be Sabin’s baseline, fuck damnit he worked his ass off consistently. Maybe in WoR he could lose volume and get more shredded due to lack of nutrients. Bulking up and maintaining ridiculously sized muscles demands ridiculous amounts of nutrients.

Starved!Leto’s BMI is pretty much the same as Kefka’s. I couldn’t think of someone famous with Kefka’s dimensions, but skinny!Macaulay Culkin could come close at 170 cm of height. It’s interesting for Kefka to have that “hungry look”, something that the director of Thor wanted to convey with Loki’s pale, wiry appearance in the first movie. Being underweight makes one so incredibly hungry that there’s no such thing as “eating until feeling full”. You only get to “feel full” once you achieve healthy weight 😬

Amano’s art made him look huge, but to my surprise, he’s rather lightweight. Strength doesn’t equal bulk (bulking to Amano's art level would take intentional effort, it wouldn't happen with martial arts training alone), so Cyan’s incredible strength is probably the result of consistent repetition; just like Khabib's 😌

last song: i listened to court and spark by joni mitchell and wind in the wires by patrick wolf in my car yesterday. i was going to ask "what happened to him" (i know what happened) but apparently he's releasing new music this year for the first time in a decade. i listened to tidal by fiona apple for a couple days before that (i'm running out of cds in my car because my sister hasn't shipped out a box of cds that i left at her house yet, so i have to savor the ones i have). i also streamed haircuts for men when evil reigns, 1.8.7. quality rolls, and kelly lee owens lp8, and i'm still working my way through my 2022 new releases post

last show/currently watching: probably solos. that was underrated, i'm still thinking about the anne hathaway and uzo aduba episodes. i feel like i've watched something since then (it was like in october) but i can't remember. prey was good, in the same way that all AVP movies are kind of good and a little bit cheesy, it feels like the characters are always pasted on top of one or two bits of lore they needed to get across to keep the series going (i like amber midthunder, they didn't really give her much to work with in legion but prey shows what she's capable of as an actor. fight choreography was impressive. somebody should cast her in some serious oscar-bait or an a24)

currently reading: structure of scientific revolutions by thomas kuhn. i've also been reading this for like months but i swear i'll finish it sometime. i finished age of surveillance capital by shoshana zuboff before that, which i suppose is obvious since my post of the pdf is still doing numbers, and i'm reading sabine hossenfelder's second book, existential physics, next (i'm excited to read the penrose interview)

current obsession: um. i could say several things but i'm going to say drum samples. i've been trying to build up a collection that i sampled myself. i should do this on vinyl but if we're being real i'm going to yt2mp3 most of them, maybe in low quality on purpose. i want to get a dirtywave m8 or build a tr808 on a breadboard (that doesn't do sampling but i think breadboard 808 drums would sound different than samples of it, or it opens the door for circuit bending, which i know nothing about) but i probably have to move again before i can really dig into that. i should figure out how to get my mimu glove to interact with my tenorion before i move onto the next thing. that's marginally sample-related because i have to interface them using ableton so i might as well use the tenorion as a midi controller at the same time. the hihats on joni mitchell "help me" are really good but they're unsampleable (no part of the song has isolated drums)

Chivonne was the only person "protecting" the twins so when she died, things went from really bad to worse. Mitchell always did love his excessive punishments to keep his favorite weapons in line and food and sleep deprivation were some of his faves...

did ham fake the letters in the Reynolds pamphlet? cause I read somewhere that James T Callender even thought this in a pamphlet he published called "Sketches of the History of America"

Great question! Possibly. This is a theory that’s been bouncing around for over 200 years now. For context, James T. Callender was the one who initially published letters from the Reynolds affair along with accusations of financial malfeasance in his pamphlet “The History of the United States for 1796,” which in turn prompted Hamilton to write the Reynolds Pamphlet to defend himself. In July 1797, before the Pamphlet was published, Callender wrote a letter to Hamilton later published in the Merchant’s Daily Advertiser, alleging:

According to my information, these Written documents consisted of a series of letters pretended to be written relative to your alledged connection with Mrs. Reynolds. You told the members a confused and absurd story about her, of which they did not believe a single word, and which, if they had been true, did not give a proper explanation as to your correspondence with her husband.

(The same letter ends, mockingly, “The[ public] have long known you as an eminent and able statesman. They will be highly gratified by seeing you exhibited in the novel character of a lover.”)

After the Reynolds Pamphlet was published, Callender again wrote to Hamilton on 29 October 1797, requesting an inspection of the original correspondence from Maria Reynolds. Hamilton endorsed the request “Impudent Experiment No Notice” and did not reply. (Though, after Callender’s initial pamphlet and later mocking letters, Hamilton being reluctant to engage with him further hardly seems surprising.)

At this point, Callender published “Sketches of the History of America” and leveled the accusation that the Reynolds letters were forged:

These letters from Mrs. Reynolds are badly spelt and pointed. Capitals, also, occur even in the midst of words. But waving such excrescences, the stile is pathetic and even elegant. It does not bear the marks of an illiterate writer. The construction of the periods disagrees with this apparent incapacity of spelling. The officer who can marshall a regiment, must know how to level a musquet. A few gross blunders are interspersed, and these could readily be devised; but, when stript of such a veil, the body of the composition is pure and correct. In the literary world, fabrications of this nature have been frequent. Our ex-secretary admits that he has been in the habit of writing to this family in a feigned character. The transition was easy to the writing in a feigned stile. (Sketches, p.99)

But even in this pamphlet, Callender hedged on whether he truly believed the letters were forged. After the above passage, Callender added, “Mrs. Reynolds herself may have written these epistles from the dictating of the Colonel,” and then later waffles further, “[E]ven admitting that the love letters and others were genuine, this does not take away the probability of a swindling connection between Reynolds and Hamilton.” (Sketches, p.100).

Hamilton claimed to have given the letters to his friend William Bingham so that they might have been inspected by anyone wishing to do so. Bingham, however, claimed never to have received the letters. Where the letters ended up is still unknown. However, the introductory note to the Reynolds Pamphlet on Founders Archive posits:

In 1795, when Hamilton thought that he was going to fight a duel with James Nicholson, he entrusted the disposition of his estate to Robert Troup. At the time he wrote to Troup: “In my leather Trunk … is also a bundle inscribed thus—J R To be forwarded to Oliver Wolcott Junr. Esq. Solo: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters in May of 2018, but we’ve yet to see a teaser trailer or any official stills from the movie that takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope (though an unofficial promo image recently surfaced online). That’s likely because Disney and Lucasfilm want the focus to be on Star Wars: The Last Jedi for the time being, but fans are still eager to get their first look at the Star Wars origin story of one of the most favorite characters in the entire saga.

While we don’t have a new look at Solo: A Star Wars Story yet, a certain detail hinting at the appearance of another fan favorite character may have slipped right under our noses. Director Ron Howard posted several photos from the set when the film was still in production, but none of them had anything particularly revealing in them. However, one fan took a much closer look at one of the photos, and it just might hint at an appearance by the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett in the Han Solo movie.

Here’s the photo in question that has fans buzzing about the return of Han Solo’s longtime rival:

In case you can’t spot the possible hint at Boba Fett’s presence, take a look at this and see what you think:

Yes, that silhouette in the background of the photo (pointed out on Reddit) certainly looks like a Mandalorian helmet. Initially I thought the positioning of the rangefinder (or antenna) on the helmet was a little off based on where the helmet appears to be facing, but when comparing it to Mike Mitchell’s illustration on the right, it looks to be a perfect match.

However, it should be noted that just because we see what appears to be a Mandalorian helmet in the background of this shot doesn’t mean that Boba Fett will make an appearance. Though it would certainly make sense that Han Solo’s rival would be part of the character’s life before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, let’s not forget there are other Mandalorians out there.

If Boba Fett doesn’t specifically make an appearance, it would be interesting if this Mandalorian was Star Wars Rebels character Sabine Wren making a background cameo. But since Sabine Wren is fairly young, this scene would have to take place much later in Han Solo’s early years, significantly closer to the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, for the character to be old enough to be frequenting an establishment like this.

For now, this is nothing more than a blurry image that happens to have a shadow looking similar to that of Boba Fett’s helmet. We still have no confirmation on whether the bounty hunter will make an appearance in the movie, but if a movie focusing on Boba Fett is back in the works as has recently been rumored, this would be a good way to set it up. Hopefully we’ll get more details on the Solo: A Star Wars Story soon enough.

Solo: A Star Wars Story features Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo, whose origin will be explored in the years leading up to his involvement in the battle between the Empire and the Rebellion. This includes finding out how he meets Chewbacca (Joonas Suotomo) and ends up in the possession of the Millennium Falcon, which we know he won at some point from Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).

The rest of the cast includes Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paul Bettany.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to open in theaters on May 25, 2018.
