Watched I Am Nobody so here is my really niche content for people like me who believe that Feng Baobao and Xiaoge should have the opportunity to bond over being immortals with memory loss and superior strength and a random little guy they really want to protect despite the fact that said little guy super from a terrible instance of main character curse. They should also bond over how immortality combined with memory loss make you so disconnected from the rest of society that all of the bonds you manage to create are the most precious and fragile thing in your life and how susceptible it makes you to be used like a tool without you even knowing it.

Anyway they would be besties without even needing to talk. They would just sit and look at rocks together, maybe sleep sometimes, and it would be one of the strongest friendship ever known to mankind.

I am fairly new to Chinese drama and my (watched) list is limited however this year I absolutely adored and loved :

The reason to watch this drama was solely this scene 😂

And after that I just got hooked. This was well edited story wise, considering how vastly the donghua and manhua story line is.

Loved all the characters in this drama all the actors did an exceptional job portraying their characters.

Shout out to my eternal bl couple (even though nowhere its been implied) in my heart these two are a couple and will be in any other drama they in!.

Loved Neo Hou as Wang Ye. This was my first drama of his and totally fell in love with him 🙈 now i understand the hype about him kekekeke.

My short thoughts about Yi Ren Zhi Xia (I Am Nobody) drama and the main characters

Zhang Chulan - I actually like their approach for drama Zhang Chulan. I like that they didn't made him super handsome. Just a normal funny pathetic dude. The thing with Chulan is he's more handsome personality-wise. I like it. He's the type of character that will grow to you and you will eventually find him cool. Also, Drama put his sealed in the body instead of his dick for censorship reason I guess?

Feng Baobao - She's also fine to me. She's still the cute weirdo we all love. I like that there are moments in the drama where she really look like she didn't comb her hair. I like her funny chemistry with Chulan.

Zhang Lingyu - I'm a little disappointed in his look. He looks like he's attending a cosplay fun event because its so obvious its a wig. Chulan destroyed the 4th wall and also said he looks like he's cosplaying lmao. I wish they made his hair black but still long hair or made the wig looks like its not a wig. You can't just copy everything from the manhua especially if the setting is modern world. Its fine for the red haired guy(the guy who talks with his mom in phone during his fight) or Xia He(his ex-gf) because it fits the personality but Lingyu who's stiff and serious to wear a wig look so out of place. Every time I see him I can't take his character seriously.

Wang Ye - This guy is perfect. I actually imagined Wang Ye as more older but this look is actually fine. Maybe because of his personality so I always imagine him more mature but in reality he's younger than what I expected.

Zhuge Qing - He's kinda different from his manhua look. Both are fashionable but in different sense. They have different fashion sense. Like Drama Zhuge Qing dress up with loose clothes while his Manhua/Donghua counterpart dress up with fit clothes? His blue hair highlight bother me in the beginning but he has a good chemistry with Wang Ye actor so I'm good now. But if I can say a suggestion, I wish they only give him a black hair extension instead. No need the blue highlight but its an artistic choice so whatever I guess.

The whole drama feels like the popular movies "Shaolin Soccer" or "Kung Fu Hustle" and because of that I actually enjoy it even if I watch only specific episodes and scenes. It has cool fighting scenes, CGI, and comedy. I like the funny faces/expressions of the actors. The best way to watch it is don't take everything seriously. Its kinda cringe but I can still endure it and actually entertaining. The old men cast aka the masters is also perfect I believe? I recognize one of the old man. He's the boat guy from Word of Honor I think? My only problem in this drama is probably the colorful wig and hair highlights because they made them look like cosplaying for fun and it destroyed my immersion in the story but that's just me. I got used to it though so that's that. The story is very close to the manhua and donghua. The visual of Wang Ye seeing a future about Chulan aka his reason why he joined the tournament is new tho? If I remember right, I know Wang Ye saw something but it was never revealed in the donghua the visual interpretation or what actually it is. Is that a new plot for the drama I wonder? And yeah, Wang Ye and other characters in donghua s2 was introduced earlier in the drama.

Feng baobao as a character is supposed to be expressionless or stoic. This actress is soo good. Like while the character is expressionless or stoic, she still conveys the emotions successfully. Or this post is just me fangirling over her 😂. She is awesome.

I'm a little disappointed in Wang Ye's character arc in the drama. Yes, the actor looks like Wang Ye because of his costumes but when it comes to fighting scenes especially during that arc. I prefer the donghua. Just because the donghua have skilled animators (they got Naruto animators you see) hired for that season. I like his fighting scenes during the competition arc in the drama tho. Not just this specific arc. Donghua Season 3 fighting scenes look more natural for me. I will always be an animation fan than a drama fan.

I did enjoy Neo Hou's acting though. Neo Hou's Wang Ye is more younger and more handsome. His portrayal made me remember that Wang Ye is still young. Manhua/Donghua Wang Ye for me felt more older, he also has okay appearance but just prefer to wear practical comfortable clothes (he don't dress to impress), and he has this iconic nose type. In the Yi Ren Zhi Xia world, the most handsome characters would be Zhuge Qing (fashionable) and Zhang Lingyu (traditional handsome look). That two have many fan girls but Wang Ye don't really have a fanclub. In the drama, Neo Hou's Wang Ye kinda defeated the two somehow.

In conclusion I prefer more Neo Hou's Wang Ye during this competition arc

But I'm not that fond of this one. Not that I hate it. Its fine if I turn off my brain for loving Wang Ye the character but it can't defeat donghua season 3 Wang Ye. I'm sorry. I think what I hate about it is they used too much CGI for this arc so it don't look that smooth compare to his fighting scene in the competition. I don't deny that he look good tho.

Also, it seem the drama didn't cover the next arc after this. They just suddenly focus in Baobao Feng and Chulan as the drama's last arc. After Wang Ye arc, its drama-only addition. In the donghua/manhua, we will supposedly get more Wang Ye and Zhuge Qing. Too bad it will never happen in the drama LOL Unless if we got another season?? Is the drama well-received?

Main Characters of Yi Ren Zhi Xia (The Outcast)

1. Baobao Feng - Only girl of the squad but the strongest. Don’t show fear, reckless and move by instinct. Never practice and has no special move. Her wounds heal quickly and already live longer than you can imagine. Always carry a kitchen knife with her as her main weapon.

2. Chulan Zhang - the protag has a straightforward and practical way of fighting. Didn’t grew with fellow outcast so his skills is far inexperienced. In other words, he has no master that look after him. Only his deceased granpa taught him to protect himself. He’s defense focus like making his Qi as shield to protect himself and to escape from enemy faster as possible. It doesn’t mean he can’t do attack. The Qi surrounded his body can be either a shield or a sword. Realist and know his limitation then use it as his advantage.

3. Lingyu Zhang - He and Chulan have similar fighting style but his technique is more dull and refined. A serious fighter that follow his master’s teachings carefully. If Chulan has blue lightning that can make him faster, this guy has black water as his special technique that he use to weaken the enemy. It has different uses like Chulan’s blue lightning. It can be use for defense, or offense. 

4. Ye Wang - A genius spell caster who always wear unmotivated expression. Combined that with good technical skills he’s without a doubt a strong fighter. His movement is very precise and targets his enemies pressure points so their Qi will not flow to make them stop fighting. He has a physical fit body that can make him do tumbling easily and difficult dodging movements. As a spell caster, he can use elements(fire, water, wind, earth) and control time. He hide himself from the world so everyone is surprised when he revealed what he can do. The outcast tournament is his first exposure. Calm and act older than the rest. 

5. Qing Zhuge - His fighting technique has strong resemblance to Ye because they are both spell casters but it seems Ye is far greater than him. Very competitive and open to learn more. His eyes is always closed but it actually hide another weapon. His eyes can see truth like enemy’s hidden spell circle. He usually use his elbow when fighting and elemental attacks.

Main long-haired guys to look out in “The Outcast” or Hitori no Shita

Note: I never read the Manhua yet, alright? So this is based on what I got from the Donghua until season 2.

1. Zhang Chulan - first, we have the protagonist. Chulan has long black shoulder-length hair. He usually wear a pony tail. He gives this typical modern youth vibe since he’s originally a college student before he entered the world of Outcasts. He appears to be shameless and has lots of hater at first but if you get to know more about him as a character, you’ll learn to respect him. Chulan has a weird but cute relationship with the female protagonist, Baobao Feng. As a protagonist, he’s quite a realist. He know his priority and limitation. (Character song)

2. Zhang Lingyu - Very beautiful and known as the young uncle of the series. If Chulan call Baobao his sister, Lingyu is the uncle because they have the same surname. Look serious and snobbish type but he’s actually very polite to everyone especially to the elders. He’s very popular to girls and has a lot of men supporters from his area. Lingyu is a master’s boy so he tend to sincerely obey everything his master says. Despite him being no longer virgin, he’s a very pure guy mentally. Appears to be jealous at Chulan for being virgin but after his heartwarming fight against him, he’s certainly a good guy. All in all, he’s a very cute and fluffy character. Btw, he has Wei Wuxian’s voice actor but his personality is close to Lan Wangji. (Character song)

3. Wang Ye - Looks like from a country-side and has messy bun hairstyle. He usually has this stressed expression. His eye-bag, thick eyebrows and nose are very distinct. He tend to hit his enemies pressure points so their Qi will not flow and make them stop fighting. He’s the type of character who always look unmotivated but actually a genius. Wang Ye is seen suffering from having no money to traveled back home. If he’s an ally or a foe, it’s very vague for now. I find him very interesting so it’ll be nice if we get to know him more in the upcoming season. (Character Song) 

4. Zhuge Qing - A handsome guy who has a very strong female fan-base. Most of the time, his eyes is closed but sometimes he open it when he’s serious. He has a cute little brother who always appeared with him during the Outcasts tournament. He and Wang Ye has a similar fighting technique because they’re both spellcasters. He’s nosy, talkative, stubborn and very competitive. (Character song)
