Prompt: Calling the Lackadaisy characters by their full name

A/N: University has been keeping me busy, and I've been in a bit of a writers block. So in the meantime, take this goofy little thing!

Rocky Rickaby: 

Rocky's always pleased to hear his name fall from your lips… "Rocky Rickaby…" he loves to occupy your attention, and he's not above doing a silly trick here and there to get you to utter his name like that. But his given name? You can't even finish "Roark" before he's at your feet, begging for forgiveness. Queue the waterworks -- his muse, his winter sunshine, his summer breeze please, please forgive him. For he is naught but a mortal man, riddled with the propensity for mistakes, but is -- Hm?  The maple syrup is in the back of the pantry, yes. Yes, next to the peanut butter. -- is that not the natural state of such mortal endeavors? Surely, such a divine being must take pity on the folly of man!

He doesn't register that you were only playing with him. Or, maybe he's realized and is just committing to the bit. You'll never know. What you do know, however, is that you'll have him at your feet for the next hour or so. 

Calvin McMurray: 

Calvin, Cal, Freckle… Sweetheart, in private. McMurray, when you're teasing. Calvin really gets the gamut of names and nicknames when it comes to you. But when he hears his full name yelled out from the opposite end of the house, he's nothing if not panicked. The past two decades of Irish Catholicism really beats that into you. He rushes to your side, back straight, head down in silent apology for… whatever it is, that he did. 

"...Yes, dear?"

He has to bite his tongue a bit to not bring out any honorifics, but the message comes across just the same. There's only 2 times he uses "dear" as his go to-- 1.) In front of his mother, 2.) After he's done something he shouldn't. 

Decompresses instantaneously when you ask him to open the pickle jar. He exhales quietly, holding his hand out silently for the jar. His heart can't take this sort of thing. Don't do this to the poor man… too often. 

Dorian Zibowski:

Blinks owlishly when he hears his full name shouted out from across the house. If there's any way to sober Zib up… this is it. He's leaping to his feet in an instant, rushing to where you are… and slowing down when he's just out of sight. He smooths his fur and his clothes and takes a deep breath before waltzing calmly into your line of sight. Play it cool. 

"Funny way of pronouncing "Zibowski, doll. Need something?" 

He takes it in stride, but don't be fooled -- he's quaking in his boots, waiting for the other shoe to drop. He feels the weight lifted off his chest when you ask him to grab something from the top shelf, although you'd never know that. He does, however, press a lingering kiss to your temple after he passes the item off to you. Don't read into it too much. 

Mordecai Heller: 

He tears his eyes away from his book, glancing at you from over the rim of his teacup. "Yes?" 

He's truly unaffected. He's introduced by his first and last name all the time, and he was never scolded in such a manner as a child.  If you were looking for some outlandish reaction, all you've got is his quiet attention. And you might want to answer quickly -- he'd really like to finish this chapter tonight. This is quite a grueling read, you know. 

His true name, however, is a different story. But that's for entirely different reasons, and well, you wouldn't  know anything about that. Right? 

Viktor Vasko: 

Yet another one who is unaffected. He looms over you a bit -- which really, isn't unusual for him considering his stature -- humming questioningly.

He's a man of few words, and even fewer reactions. You've really gotta put some emotion in your voice if you want to get any sort of reaction out of him, and even then the most you're likely to get is a raised eyebrow… maybe a bit of a head tilt if you're lucky. And you can really only do this once -- he'll remember your little trick for next time. 

(If you really want to get a reaction out of him, use some sort of petname. He secretly finds them rather sweet, and the right one will force-reset his brain a bit the first few times you use it. )

Seraphine Savoy: 

Seraphine isn't unaffected by the use of her full name… rather, she revels in it. She's always enjoyed the flow of her name, but it always seems to fall from your lips like some goldly golden ichor. To call it heavenly would be a bit of a misnomer -- sinful, mayhaps? It's a difficult feeling to place, but she strides over to you confidently nonetheless. Her lips quirk up as she leans into your personal space.

"Yes, amou?"  

Nicodeme Savoy: 

Truthfully, he isn't the biggest fan of you calling him by his full name. Well, his full first name, anyways. Feels too stuffy, for his liking. But he takes it in stride, waltzing up to you lazily. He rests his arm on your shoulder and leans down to be eye-level with you, eyes half lidded with a grin. He throws your own full name right back at you teasingly. Need something?  Want him to grab something, or open a jar? Hm? 

His grin stretches a bit wider when you pout -- you really thought you'd get him this time, huh? He kisses you chastely, nipping at you softly in jest. Gotta try harder than that to shake him, bebe.

Each of them have their own creators with their own lore and I wanted to share fun facts about them because they are such cool characters outside of Spooky Month too!!!

Aria, created by Everyday_Anny, doesn't have much lore to go off of that I could find (as of yet!!) but here's what she looks like with her hair down!

Ethan, created by Poisonjabs has two beauty marks on his neck resembling vampire bites! His full name is Ethan Dorian Summers and he has a little sister named Morgana, but I think lots of people know that

Leon, created Compadrito0088 has albinism! Also, his full name is Leon Manson and he has 3 brothers, one older and two younger!

Confi, created by BeffenM, is canonically sapphic and has a girlfriend named Hanabi!

Blaz, or the Bombwolf, created by MrBlaz seems to be his persona in the Bombwolf costume!

And finally, Liv! Created by MarcoCardenas2D, she's the star of her OWN animated series yet to come out (you can find two shorts on Marco's channel, just search up "Liv Hooked" and you should find it!!) she's a debt collector, and the eyepatch is NOT part of her costume, she has one eye and uses an eyepatch to cover it!

I don't know about you all, but I love getting to know other people's characters and seeing all the love they put into them.

What is your Inquisitor's name? - Haleira Lavellan

Type of build/combat style? - Ice magic is her bread and butter, but she also took on the rift mage specialization

Is your Inquisitor close with his/her family? - Close enough! She’s very duty driven and can be a bit prone to forgetting to keep in touch, though she very much loves and cares for her family!

Closest friend in the Inquisition? - Dorian and Solas. She’s just a magic nerd and has endless conversation potential with these two because they're also nerds. Dorian became more of a friend beyond shared interests while things with Solas understandably became a bit… strained though she’s still determined to get through to him.

Love interest? - Cullen! She was bewitched by his stuttering and awkwardness.

Your three favorite traits your Inquisitor possesses? - She believes in fate above all things (which I don’t admire), but this gives her a sense of serenity that I very much do admire. In her mind, things happen as they are meant to, she is doing what she was born to do and there’s nothing more than that. I also admire her ability to play politics in a way. She’s not a dishonest person exactly, but she’s very good at making everyone feel like they’re getting what they want. And a third trait would be… her gentleness! She’s very calm, quite soft in spite of it all.

Does he/she like to read? - She loves to read! For academic purposes and just for fun.

Can he/she cook? - She can! It’s not a hobby of hers, but she’s satisfactorily proficient.

Favorite season (spring, summer, fall, winter)? - Winter and spring. Death and rebirth.

What would your Inquisitor consider the perfect day? - Waking up early, taking in the cool morning air maybe with a good book, spending a bit of aimless time with Cullen and the kids. Nothing extravagant, she would love a simple day.

Does he/she like the Game (and is your Inquisitor good at playing it)? - She doesn’t relish in it… but she can play with the best of them. She greatly prefers honesty, but she understands the requirements of her role and she will play her part.

Is your character good at Wicked Grace? - She really has very little practice so… not so much!

What will be his/her favorite memory from the Inquisition? - The people! Cullen, obviously… but also her friends and the sense of unification her work brought. She doesn’t have a god complex or anything, but she very much believes she was chosen or destined to fulfill this role and she finds it quite beautiful…

What's one regret your character has? - She would tell you she has none because of her strong belief in fate… therefore in her mind everything plays out as it’s meant to. But there are certainly moments she’s stressed over maybe doing the wrong thing - wrong in the sense that she’s playing “against” fate, as it were. But in the end she tells herself and anyone else that she has no regrets, no matter how much she worries.

If an actor or actress were to play the role of your Inquisitor, who would you pick? - Maybe someone like Elle Fanning? Not 100% but close enough!

What would your Inquisitor's childhood dream have been? - In a not-so-grandiose way she’s always felt that she was going to do something big, so things played out well for her! She was pretty into animals and magic as a kid, and from a young age just kind of figured she'd become the First, but she got a whole lot more than that for sure.

Is his/her life anywhere close to that dream? - Definitely!

What's the hardest part about being Inquisitor for your character? - Being responsible for so many people and their well-being, it’s a lot of pressure! She can also bristle a bit with all the "Herald" talk... she believes she's chosen by her gods, not by the Maker, not by Andraste. However... she does feel that she was put into this position for a reason, if not necessarily to evangelize to the Andrastians, then to at least put forth a good face for the sake of her people.

Does your Inquisitor have any skills or talents others wouldn't expect? - She can sew! She’s not a fashion designer or anything, but she’s proficient enough to make most anything.

What would be your character's ideal happy ending/HEA? - She’s basically got it (Veilguard pls don’t hurt her). A simple life, family, freedom to do what she wants… she doesn’t feel a need for anything more.

Short days, longer nights

So this morning I have decided, after weeks of seeing people go after her for issues that were beyond her control, to write about how awesome Aabria Iyengar has once again been.

It's been a good nine months since her gnome cleric asked her god to his face if he was worth saving, which was a brilliant moment on its own, but now she's created a scene for current events on Exandria that makes it resonate all the more. Aabria was handed a difficult task with the Crown Keepers, when we haven't seen them since Kymal, and now they had to at least partly break apart so Dorian could return to the others without bringing too many people with him for the table to hold, and she had to make us feel it. Having the Spider Queen demand more than Opal was willing to give, bringing the consequences of the actions the player had very much chosen home to roost, may have been obvious enough a move. But it was still pretty daring to really go all out with it the way she did, to have her turn on her friends and just increase in deadliness as the encounter went on, when that would be reminiscent of the near-TPK we'd already just had, and have even the less evil deities be willing to let Opal be destroyed even more than death would do to increase their own chances of survival. And then there was a the really smart move, to have the gemstones around, and to have them trigger flashbacks, so we could at least get some of the important moments of the Crown Keepers' journey. She knew when to exact a steep price-Cyrus may have been the easiest kill, but that meant him being the one killed made sense, and had the added bonus of especially impacting the guy we were staying with. And in the end, she also knew when to call the toll taken, and ultimately allow Fyra-Rai to stay with Opal, for however much consolation that may provide. Then she topped that off on Four Sided Dive this week. As tavern keeper, she was quite good at leading the conversation, and of course she knew what the fans cared most about; three years after the Summer of Aabria first brought her to prominence, she still hasn't lost that "one of us" energy. Plus, when they broke out For the Queen, it was her who first made the Queen the CEO and setting up the zany story that resulted in the best gaming segment that show had produced yet, and also her that gave the story its strongest twist when she went and killed another one of the characters. Also her showing on Critical Role Cooldown was a pretty strong one, too. But it pales in comparison to what she'd pulled off already.

Who is your favorite character?

Dorian my beloved [imagine the gif of the heart locket here]. I have an embarrassing amount of framed artwork of Dorian on the walls in my house. 

How long have you been into Dragon Age?

Only since last summer! My partner and I picked it up kind of randomly when we were trying to avoid the siren song of replaying Skyrim for the millionth time. 

Is this your first fandom event?

It is, and I’m having such a great time. I hadn’t written a lot of actual fic before I got really into Inquisition last year and it’s been so fun to connect with people all working on big writing projects together :)

I just saw a post talking about how some characters are bad because they have trauma vs others who have twice the trauma but are still good.

The problem is that people in the comments were talking about Nesta and Feyre, so let me make a couple of things clear.

Feyre is not the angel everyone thinks she is. she destroyed an entire court over a bad breakup or no communication. Did she ever try to talk to Tamlin? No. Instead, she got an innocent man tortured and flogged. That's being selfish. That's the opposite of being a good person. She stole a book from the summer court without question. She wears the wings of women whose wings are clipped.

Feyre is apparently good, because she uses good words, because her first impression is to help people. But she is the same person who fucks when the people she is responsible for are dying outside her store.

Now let me tell you why Nesta is not a demon. Nesta risked her life to go find Feyre in the fae world, she engaged an abusive man so Feyre have less mouths to feed. Nesta helped the wounded to whom she owed nothing while her high Lady was busy doing nothing (fcking).Nesta used her own trauma, which she never talks about, to unite the human queens. Nesta did not react when her father cared for another person as he did not care for them. Nesta helped the illryrian and sarcedotian women as no one has ever done before.

And yes, in the meantime, Nesta is edge. And here is the difference, Feyre is good with words but bad in her actions. Nesta is a bad person in his words (which I also question, because he just reacts) but he is a much better person with his actions.

I would rather have someone like Nesta in my life, someone who would risk her life for me than someone like Feyre, who would let me get whipped while thinking she is a good person.

If you want to talk about indomitable kindness humans don't talk about Feyre. Talk about Naruto, talk about Aang, talk about Lucien, talk about Dorian, talk about Hiccup, talk about Inej. For the love of God, talk about Alina but not Feyre.

You want an example of pure goodness? Talk about Peeta, who did everything he could to break the cycle of abuse in his family.

Talk about the character who risked her life to save the man who then gets angry at her for rejecting him, who risked her life for her friends. Don't talk about the character who locks up her sister.

Talk about all those characters, not Feyre.
