the whole thing's devastating in itself, but would you guys believe me if i told you this part specifically makes me so super sad

flowey doesn’t allow himself to feel the snow. not really. he won’t talk about how the cold steadies him, or how it stirs memories of simpler times. he avoids thinking about the quiet. the way the world slows down under the weight of winter, how everything feels softer, almost bearable.
the peace feels too close. too easy.
thoughts like that aren’t for him. perhaps they never were. they belong to someone else. and flowey doesn’t get to be him. not anymore.
so, instead, he ignores it. kills it in its infancy. turns away from the idea before it drags up pieces of a life he refuses to remember. he acts like happiness isn’t something that should happen to him. a mistake. an error in the system that needs to be corrected.
there’s always this jaggedness to his words, something sharp enough to keep anything tender at bay. if something feels good, he cuts it down to size—turns it bitter, spits it back out as cruelty. it’s instinct by now, as natural as breathing.
that’s what flowey does. he tears things apart before they can convince him he deserves more. after all, it’s much easier to laugh at the world than to feel it.
this is just the way things are. the way they have to be.
the softness never feels right anyway. it’s awkward, like trying to cup water in clenched fists. like touching something delicate with hands meant only to destroy.
he’s flowey. he has to be flowey. and flowey doesn’t get to savor things. he doesn’t stop to enjoy the way the snow hushes the world or let the cold bite just enough to remind him he’s alive.
he knows better.
there's almost comfort in that. in shutting things down, in turning them brittle before they can take root. it’s neat. predictable. safe. no dangerous hope worming its way into places it doesn’t belong. no warmth overstaying its welcome. just the same old ache he’s carried for as long as he can remember—steady, familiar, dull.
manageable.
because if he let something good in… what then?
would it stay? refuse to leave? would it start to matter?
would he start to matter?
flowey knows exactly who he is. the villain. the failure. the one who tried to make things right and only made it worse. if there was ever a chance to be anything else, it’s long gone. whatever good might have existed in him has been buried beneath years of mistakes, smothered by everything he couldn’t save.
he had a plan once. a way to undo it all. make things right again. but it didn’t work. he didn’t work. he couldn’t save chara. couldn't save the monsters.
couldn’t even save himself.
and this… this is what’s left.
flowey. the version of him that learned to survive by not needing anything. the one who gave up on hope, joy, and peace because letting them in would mean the walls he built were never needed at all.
it would mean that somewhere inside, there’s still something soft. something worthy.
and he doesn’t know how to live with that. he’s not even sure he wants to.
control is all that makes sense anymore. he decides when the pain comes, how much, and from whom. he decides. no one else.
he’s built everything on that control—this image of who he’s supposed to be, what he’s supposed to feel. but what if he stopped? what if he let the bitterness go? what would be left?
just asriel?
and what would that mean? that there had always been another way?
no. he can’t let that be true.
so he copes. he compartmentalizes. keeps things boxed up neatly. flowey and asriel. good. evil. pain. hope. life. death. they don’t touch. they’ll never touch. he’d lose control if they did. and control is all he has left.
he makes sure to break things down before they have the chance to become anything real. he’s always the one to close the door first—better to leave than to be left behind.
if not, he might remember what it’s like to be exposed. vulnerable. weak.
and that’s something he cannot accept. the possibility that asriel is still in there. that there’s still a way back.
that maybe… he was never as far gone as he wants to believe.
it’s almost funny, in a way, because he’s already changed, whether he knows it or not. the fact that he’s still here, still witnessing the world after everything that’s happened, proves he’s not as detached as he wants to believe.
the fighting stopped. the cycle ended. the monsters are free. and even if he won’t admit it, even if he’s not ready to come to terms with it—there’s a quiet kind of peace in that.
even so, he will dig in his heels. even so, he will play into the role in a war that’s long over. even so, he won’t let anything awaken the barest trace of what it once meant to be asriel.
he is flowey.
the snow will keep falling. it’ll land on his petals.
it doesn’t stay.
neither does he.
because it’s easier that way.

just read the new mutants issue where Charles chose to stay behind in space and my god the juxtaposition between Charles trusting Erik and Erik joining the hellfire club and wondering at his own trust worthiness. I wonder how much of Charles decision was him ultimately trying to avoid the fact that his first class had seemingly betrayed mutant kind and not be willing to face them and how much of it was Dani and Illyana's reaction to him having Karma mind control Illyana. the fact that Illyana was depending on him to ease her mind through limbo and in choosing to stay he forced karma to do it instead, probably fucking up their relationship in the process.
I love him, this is crazy, how much of this is him trying to runaway and how much is this him not trusting himself to fix things and how much is it just him trusting Erik?
i keep trying to put into words my exact thoughts about the sitch but there really is a lot for one issue aintit... oh charles you and your brain...
#snap chats#thats why we have tag rambles AHAHA#ok so to tackle things one at a time charles ultimately deciding to stay in space despite his expressed want to return to earth#obviously it was when lilandra pointed out if her sister took charge of the shi'ar then the universe- earth included- would be in peril#charles notes his position as a losing one: whichever choice he makes he loses#he goes to earth then the universe could be at stake/he stays in space he loses his kids#of course charles COULD just put his faith in the starjammers but is that a risk he wants to take ? evidently not#charles' reoccurring flaw is he's willing to sacrifice personal relationships for the greater perceived good#even lilandra acknowledges this- that charles' homesickness for earth was an inevitability just as she is indebted to protecting the stars#so now his ruptured relationship with illyana and co- esp right after comforting a split illyana last issue#we've seen charles act more coldly/rashly when he's about to lose people (i think of his first death with the og5 mostly)#i mean it's a key part to charles' chara that he doesn't favor mind controlling others and im sure he has the same regard for his students#he's aware of the damage it can do and in this instance- for one reason or another- he orders it to be done regardless#im sure he does this as a form of defense: if his kids are upset with him they won't feel too bad about losing him and it'll be less painfu#obviously we still see sam wish charles farewell and wish for him to come back soon but yk.. worthy attempt..#and it's not as if charles wants them to hate him ENTIRELY.. he's still touched by sam's goodbye no.... fickle man he is..#i dont think charles is totally afraid to confront the og5- its what made him want to return to earth with the nms initially#tho again.. could his decision to stay in the stars be influenced by that? that maybe he ISNT prepared to confront them like he thought?#who's to say... not me i dont got that psych degree yet..#erik being charles' trusted confidant definitely made his decision easier on top of that: i mean is he needed if he has a substitute#i think charles DOES wholly trust erik: charles really doesnt approach his x-men half heartedly. from his pov ofc#if he didn't genuinely believe in erik's potential he wouldn't have picked him; hes a comforting thought when charles decides to depart#'although i'm gone erik understands me and my goals enough to continue my work as good as i would have so i have nothing to worry about'#which. yk. makes the whole White King thing kinda awkward VJAELVJEAKL charles you fool#i have no idea how this saga ends though... tbh im only on ish 45 of NM i just read 50 and 51 to get context for this ask#so i can only wait and see how this saga turns out... once i finish reading house of m/secret invasion stuff jvLKEJKA#idk im tired and rambling dont pay attention to me.. ramblin bout charles' brain is a good day for me regardless if i make sense jVLAJ

the schizophrenic gang !!! they're quite fun to draw especially with my brushes
some small info on my headcanons (some I stole from @signanothername sorry!)
- Murder zips his jacket up and hides himself more than anyone (hats, face masks, different pants, etc), he hates himself the most for being with these "freaks", even if he knows himself he's just like them.
- Horror is a twig, he hasn't eaten in 7 years + the amount of time he was "recruited" by Nightmare.
- Killer is full blown emotionless (in stage 2 and above). any insult you throw at him he won't even react, but he does have moments
- They ALL have hallucinations of some sort, Murder's are just the worst/most "there" in a sense, Horror has voices in his head, soft whispers talking to him, Killer has hallucinations of Chara being around or people he's killed, and Murder outright hallucinates just about everyone from his world.

Undertale’s Meta Narrative: Understanding the player's three main narrative “stand-ins.”
For those who came in late or are currently playing deltarune, I'd like to take a moment to revisit Undertale, its parallel story, for the sake of context in themes. In this post I will analyze the meta-narrarive of Undertale as represented through its main characters.
Frisk, Chara and Flowey/Asriel each represent a core aspects of the player while being distinctly separate from the player. Because, unlike the player, they can't be removed from their world. Their context.
In Deltarune, (I haven't yet touched Ch. 4&5 because of exam season,) the questions of control, identity, freedom, escapist sentimentality etc. are central–and the game provides an even more mature exploration of them, through a protagonist that is both completely aware of the player's control and outwardly rejects them. There's a lot more to discuss when it comes to analyzing Kris, but this is an Undertale post first and foremost, to provide some context to the same themes.

1. Frisk:
Playable, but not representative of the player nor a self-insert. Their character is purposefully vague and quiet, so that you ASSUME they are a self-insert, (just as you assume it is them you are naming at the beginning of the game,) while actually having a full personality & agency of their own.
They choose how to deliver the lines you make them say & go out of their way to introduce themself to Asriel by name without you doing anything to prompt that. Also, all by themself, they ask Gerson what would happen if Asgore adopted them–if he'd continue aging. This implies a semblance of free will outside of the player–as well as them having their own desires.
I like to think that frisk is aware of Chara, but isn't aware of the fourth wall or the player as a separate entity. They go on to live their life, having no control over the player's choice to reset. Hence why Flowey tells you to let Frisk live their life. The determination stems from their soul, awakening Chara and having the power of resetting appear. But once they're out of the underground, it is not up to them.
However, when they are in the underground–they provide the player with choices. To me, the dialogue options, the Fight vs Mercy mechanic and everything else, are things that Frisk is considering already. Pondering on, thinking about. They won't actually do anything that goes completely against who they are, hence why they refuse to laugh at the amalgamates, or why they refuse to even consider taking the soda from undyne's house or alphys' fridge. They hate soda! They also don't let you take any more pieces of pie, because they're intimidated by it, even though it'd be very useful. Their personality also shines through by what they are given determination by. The simplest, most mundane things–from pointless garbage, to small mice in holes. They find beauty in everything.
So, we have the characterization down–but what does Frisk represt as a figure? As our playable character?
Frisk is at that vulnerable age when you are first developing your worldview based on your influences.
In the pacifist route, Frisk represents innocence. They follow the strongest influence they've had–assuming they are a parentless child, that being Toriel–and learn to practice the way of mercy.
They represent the player's pure-hearted sentimentality. The player's ability to just love the game and its characters, as they explore the underground. The player's desire to understand what's going on for the first time, make their choices, develop their playstyle all while falling in love with the friends they make along the way and deciding that, maybe I would rather stay.
Their pondering to kill comes from fear, perhaps, at first, in neutral routes. But in genocide? There is no, "despite everything, it's still you" but instead, "it's me, Chara/ {your name}," which means Frisk has entirely lost themself in the process of wiping everyone out and someone else's influence has taken over.
‼️The player sacrifices their connection to the world and characters to the altar of curiosity, (flowey) completion (chara) and the warped sentimentality of not wanting the game to end yet (asriel.) And so, the player has sacrificed Frisk, who represents exactly what made the pacifist route so moving. Connection.
Frisk is part of this world, the player isn't. Immersion broken, the narrative sacrificed, for a deeply unsatisfying process and a conclusion in which you literally sell your soul.

2. Flowey / Asriel:
Flowey is a character who, in order to fully understand, you do in fact have to play the game in each entirety. You have to become him in order to know him. He is everywhere, everything. The villain, the hero, the protagonist, the antagonist, the victim, the perpetrator, the tale of tragedy, the tale of hope, the tutorial for genocide, the key to true pacifist. The most important character in the whole entire game.
He represents the player's curiosity–and it's clear as day.
You know there won't be any real consequences. These characters aren't real, you can take it all back. And as you commit genocide after befriending everyone probably a hundred times over, you tell yourself, "I don't like this, I'm just doing this because I *have* to know what happens–" but do you?
Just because you can, does that mean you should?
Flowey becomes desensitized to violence and even dependent on it–in this world, it's kill or be killed. To challenge that mindset, is to pretend you haven't practiced it, haven't engaged in it–which is why he mocks you when you kill toriel, even accidentally–and then come back to spare her. He considers it inevitable that eventually, you'll play the game by his rules. And eventually, you do. Not because you have to, but because you can. In the friendly rpg where no-one has to die, you're still curious to see what happens *if.*
Flowey is unfeeling and disconnected. Soulless– even though another version of him really loves the people he's hurting now to see what happens. To see how they'll react. If he'll feel anything. If things will suddenly start making more sense and if his actions will start gaining purpose again. If he'll gain more information, maybe, instead of repetitive, predictable dialogue. And isn't that the whole situation of the player? The player, you–another version of whom loves these characters, hurting them to see how they'll react and if you'll gain new data. Curiosity killed the flower–and it chastises the player, too. Leaving them soulless and hollow.
Asriel, meanwhile, has all the love. Actively.
He has too much of it. He can feel everyone's heartbeat at the same time, aching for the same catharsis. He feels endlessly and he doesn't want that to end. He'll keep you there over and over because he doesn't want to let go of these feelings. He loves you, loves this world, this connection to the friends you've made–and doesn't want to return to nothingness.
He's willing to kill you again and again if it means you'll keep playing with him. He's willing to help you get different endings–willing to deprive everyone of their freedom, keeping them in the underground by force just so that the game keep going. And isn't that warped sentimentality entirely representative of the player?
You as the player keep depriving them of their freedom BECAUSE you love them so much and don't want your time with them to be up. The reason you keep re-creating that world, the reason you keep destroying it. Why you keep fluctuating between villain and hero, never letting go. And as you keep doing it, squeezing all the content out of the game, out of Asriel, he always asks–
“Don’t you have anything better to do?”
And no, the game doesn't punish you for loving it. It merely challenges the way you practice that love–because it knows, inevitably, you'll love it most when you're ready to let it go. And it knows, inevitably, that will take a while.

Onto the hottest topic, now.
3. Chara / “Y/N”:
Ohh, boy. We're really in it now. Let's delve into arguably the most misunderstood and controversial aspect of utdr.
The player's scapegoat, (pun intended) for their own terrible actions.
Chara is the closest thing to a self insert. You can name them whatever you want at the start of the game–still, they are their own character that predates the player's influence. They aren't your vessel. You don't design them. You don't shape their personality. Their backstory has occurred way out of your control.
And isn't that interesting? Your supposed self-insert, having control in places where you don't? Even when you're misguided to think the first human died via a mysterious illness, it's later revealed that they were, in fact, the one in control of it. It was planned.
Flowey doesn't seem to know the difference between Chara and the player. When Flowey breaks the fourth wall, something that Frisk never does–he talks to the player and calls them by Chara’s name, whatever that may be. It's what he recognizes to be his sibling’s name regardless of if it's your own.
But Flowey isn't a reliable source of understanding when it comes to Chara, considering a moment ago he also thought Chara was Frisk. He conflates these things, because he has no player behind him–yet held the same resetting power. He assumes there's no third party. He assumes you and Chara are one and the same.
Chara themself, however, MAKES A CLEAR DISTINCTION BETWEEN THEM AND THE PLAYER. "you and I are not the same," and "I do not understand those feelings," when it comes to the warped sentimentality that plagues you to keep replaying the game over and over. They don't get it.
So, Chara is the closest thing TO the player, but they aren't the player. They are the only person, however, aware of the player's presence. Of their influence over the game. And yet they also know something much more important: The player isn't part of this scripted world, so even as they orchestrate its reactions and events–they are never truly the one in control. The game is in control of itself, at the end of the day, so it seizes said control via Chara.
In the pacifist route, narrator Chara, (a headcanon so widely supported it might as well be canon) is light-hearted enough. A faded presence in the background, trying to match Frisk's energy while making the world more easier to navigate for them. They know the steps, the scripts, the names of each random encounter. They provide Frisk with helpful information through “Check” that would otherwise be unattainable to them, even if often times it's just silly commentary or snippets of judgement over tomfoolery.
In the genocide route, the execution points and the levels of violence increase right into Chara's file. The soul they share with Frisk is given their name–Frisk's determination having awakened their sprit. And as Sans explains, the more you hurt, the more you kill, the easier it becomes to keep doing it. Chara's soul–already open to violence, because of the “unhappy” influences of their youth–becomes corrupted. Pushed to the highest level of violence.
Genocide Chara represents the player's desire of completion. Of seeing things all the way through. Of getting stronger and stronger. Getting on top of their game, finishing all there is. Being untouchable.
Chara, the very person who wants to “erase this pointless world” considers the player to be sick, twisted and perverted for doing it again and again. And when, post-genocide, you attempt soulless pacifist, Chara doesn't let you forget what you did. They chastise you, they remind you of your lack of control to protect anyone after the game is over. They don't let you get away with feeling good about yourself–because if you cared about these characters the way you claim you do, you would have never done what you did in the first place.
Chara does not understand the player's warped sentimentality. They only understood completion. And why? Well, as suggested by the poem about the number 9 Toby Fox released, Chara wants to become untouchable because they've been afraid. Hurt, betrayed. Humanity wronged them. Violence was instilled in them by force. Nothing can hurt you when you reach a certain point of completion. A certain point of control.
They climbed the mountain in a suicide attempt–and suddenly, became the hope of all monsters. Think of the pressure, the weight of that on a child–especially a child that has probably internalized by now that love is conditional and violence is possibly the only way. They are loved by monsters as long as they provide hope that one day the underground will be empty. The (literally) fallen angel of the prophecy–the demon that comes when people call its name.
Chara attempted suicide a second time, in sacrifice. The attempt was successful, the sacrifice wasn't. They attempted to get control of the situation to fast-forward the release of monsters. They didn't trust joy, or love, but they valued those who offered it. Monsters.
But Chara never valued their own life, or humans in general. They loved the Dreemurrs, even if they thought indeed that their hopes of equality and acceptance by humans were baseless. They let them hope, because they were loved for it.
But their affections were real. From the sweater they knitted for Asgore, to the childish little details like filling the glass to the brim because “it's the most efficient way,” to the friendship locket they shared with Asriel. To their willingness to die, trusting him to do as instructed.
They, “weren't the greatest person” and Asriel, now, as Flowey, has to redefine that whole entire codependent relationship and its many flaws–Chara's many flaws–but that doesn't make Chara evil. They climbed the mountain, “not for the happiest reason,” but desperately tried to give meaning to their survival. To give back to those who showed them what Mercy means, not matter the cost.
They are part of this world, unlike the player. They do not share the same disconnect. They're cynical–but not uncaring. They laugh to cope with pain, they joke morbidly. Never do they show vulnerability. They're in control when they die, when they kill, when whatever–they have to be. It is but a shield. Weakness is taken advantage of. Weakness, holding back, not seeing things through–that's, in Chara’s mind, what got Asriel killed.
They aren't wasteful like the player nor overly sentimental like Asriel. They are a secret third thing–efficient. Will killing 6 innocent humans free monsterkind? Do it. Will erasing this world at the end of genocide put an end to everyone's suffering? Do it. Will taking control of the soul to mock the player also take away their false sense of control, their false sense they can do whatever they want? That their choices are inconsequential and will be forgotten in the grand scheme of things? Do it.
But if it's never necessary, they'll never do it.
Pacifist Chara responds to the violence of humanity with a plan to empty the underground & free everyone. Asriel goes along with it at first but doesn't follow through. Asriel dies.
Genocide Chara responds to the violence of the player with a plan to empty the underground by “destroying this pointless world,” Flowey goes along with it at first but doesn't follow through. Flowey dies.
They're nothing if not consistent.
At the end of the day, the game is wrapped in a shroud of their tragedy. The tragedy of two siblings, two best friends, two stand-ins for the player, endlessly haunting the narrative–holding each other to impossible standards and coming to realize neither of them are what the other thought. That doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And the player, to whom their tragedy is a spectacle–the player who orchestrates it–isn't even fully in control. Because the main character that represents them does not respect them in the slightest.

Frisk, Chara and Asriel aren't the only instances of meta narrative in the game, nor the only parallels to the player. From Alphys to Sans, the conversation is endless. And the themes of identity and freedom are at the core of every single character in this game.
It is those three children, however, that are most often misrepresented, misunderstood, mischaracterized–and forced into binaries. We try to frame Frisk as the pacifist ending, Chara as the genocide ending–we treat Asriel and Flowey as one and the same, even though the notion of simplifying it that much makes Flowey himself uncomfortable– (he tried to be Asriel but the trauma shaped him into something else. The expectation of having to act as Asriel despite not feeling like it broke him.)
It's no less stiff than arguments of their genders! neither frisk nor chara are JUST stand-ins for the player, they're characters beyond it and their non-binary identities matter. Chara bad, Frisk good is just another pointless gender binary we try to impose on them lmao.
At the end of the day Undertale is a tale, full of allegory, that can only be told through a video game lense, or else it'd lose a whole lot of nuance.

You said something about Azul's darling having children healing his childhood trauma. ANGST WARNING!! AND BULLYING!
This gave me an idea, he was bullied for being slow and different from other kids from the original plot. In this yandere au, that can be twisted into how he's such a loser, he'll probably never be good enough for a darling to accept him. He's so fat, not even a kind and pitiful darling, would want him. How the other mers think he's so stupid that he'd fumble trying to catch his darling and that they'll just be claimed by another, cooler, yandere. Laughing at him all the while so and flexing how their wonderful talents and skills would be enough to steal away a darling's heart, unlike him.
I can imagine how much this'll break his self esteem and brand him as a "weak yandere" to the other fishies. Azul would strive to be the opposite of all this, he would plan to take away their special abilities to "win a darling over" and make it his own, as his unique magic forms through sheer spite. He's so jaded and the thoughts of not being good enough to have a darling still ingrained in him. He probably won't fall in love with MC until after his overblot. Having the internal belief that, no darling would want a loser like him.. He probably won't care that MC is a darling at first and is just planning to use her as leverage against the other yanderes. Hence, taking over her only place to live. It benefits him as well since he'll be able to open another branch of the Mostro lounge and attract the other yanderes.
But then something changes. MC does something while they are inside the blot space. He realizes that.. she sees more in him than anyone ever had. Even if MC says so only in passing cause she's reasonably pissed- He can't help but focus on those specific words, ignoring the rest of her rant. Suddenly, he feels whole, and he knows she doesn't want to share this feeling with anyone. Suddenly...
He's already drafting a contract after their visit in the coral sea museum, giggling to himself as he marks that day their first date....
I hope you find this idea as interesting as I did!! I love Azul 😁
I really love asks for the yandereverse, because there are so many ways that the charas’ backstories can change. Azul’s bullying making him insecure when it comes to his darling is perfect, and it kind of works with how the Coral Sea sees yanderes and darlings. I also love Azul, I love me an evil mafia man.
The Coral Sea is an anti-darling rights area, so yanderes have more freedom to do what they want in order to take their darlings for themselves. And yanderes are supposed to be strong and tough, how else do they keep their darlings safe and with them? The kids of the Coral Sea know that well.
And Azul wasn’t that. He was slow, and weak and a scaredy-catfish crybaby who hid inside a pot. HE was supposed to be a yandere? That was genuinely surprising to nearly all his former classmates. And they made sure he knew that. Their teasing was relentless….
‘Are you sure they weren’t wrong? You’re not supposed to be slow and stupid if you’re like us.’
‘He’ll probably lose his darling.’
‘I’d hate to be them, he’s so fat and icky.’
….And at the same time they rub salt into the wound. After all, they’re fast and strong and smart and talented and good looking. They’ll get their darlings no problem, while he will be left alone and broken hearted watching his darling being with someone else. All the bullying broke him down over a while, he started to think it was right.
But despite all the bullying, Azul still tries his hardest to stop being the weak yandere his peers deemed him as. And in a form of vengeance, he’ll take away the special abilities they shoved in his face to remind him how inferior he was, After all, the yanderes that bullied him have their own insecurities that they want to hide from their darlings, so he’ll take their very best away to make himself better for his future darling. He’ll make himself better so that whoever he falls for won’t have to be disgusted by him. (While making his bullies as disgusting to their darlings as they said he’d be .)
But… He just can’t forget the years of bullying ingrained into him. What darling would want him? What darling would love him when he’s just a dim-witted octopus? That denial blinds him up till when he finally meets you.
Once he’s aware of you being a darling he sees the opportunity, not love. (Because he doesn’t deserve you, so why bother?). After all, what would all your yanderes do or pay to have you for themselves? No price is too high when it comes to a darling, and so, getting you under his thumb is his first priority. Getting you out of Ramshackle and under his control/ownership will make this so much easier. But there’s one big problem.
You won’t sign his contracts. You told him you’d rather never go home than sign one. I imagine after that point, he starts trying to find loopholes to get you to sign. And your friends are his best bet. So he tricks Ace, Deuce and Grim into being indebted to him, so that you’ll feel obligated to help them. But that didn’t work, because (to be honest, you’re grateful for the alone time) you just let them be stuck in a contract with him. Fortunately, Crowley got involved and you had to go into a contract with him.
But unfortunately, instead of accepting his offer to stay at Octavinelle till the time limit was up, you proceeded to stay over in Savanaclaw. He’d never been more angry before in his life. The idea of you sleeping with and doing seven-only-knows with those beasts never made him more jealous. The smell of Leona Kingscholar on your skin made him want to add onto the debt the prince owed in vengeance.
But not wanting to spoil anything more, in the blot space your attempts to pull him out of his self-loathing, change him. He sees that you care about him, that you don’t think he’s a not a stupid, ugly octopus and that instead you see him as something more. Someone who’s hardworking, intelligent, and even cute. And that moment, he truly realizes his love for you. You’re not like the others, you see something in him that no one ever had before. He doesn’t get that you’re saying it only for the sake of your, and maybe a little of his, life. Those words echo in his head. You love him, all his bullies were wrong, his darling isn’t disgusted by him. He feels whole….
…..And he doesn’t want to share this feeling. This complete joy.
He needs you to be his. He’ll draft another contract, one intended to make sure no one else will ever be able to steal you from him and ensure you’ll be by his side, on the land and in the sea. The museum will be like a date to him, hearing your kind words about his childhood appearance makes that younger self cry with joy.
You, quite literally, became the center of his world. And he intends to hold that same place as he becomes a part of your world. Whether you like it or not.

Starting off simple for her. Can we get some Chara relationship headcannons please?
Chara relationship headcanons
It's gonna take a while for chara to admit her feelings, she kinda hates humanity as a whole, and so her falling in love with one felt weird, she didn't like how you made her blush or how she started stuttering for no reason around you. But her soul actually felt...at peace. You were nice to her and made her feel genuinely happy, and after she finally admitted to herself that she was in love she confessed and became your girlfriend, which was probably the best decision she ever made.
She's not used to love at all, so she often asks Frisk (who is also a girl in this btw) how to be a good girlfriend and do stuff to show her love for you, which often results in embarrassing attempts to flirt with you, which she's really not that good at.
She blushes every time you show her affection. She's very touch starved, so a simple hug can make her cheeks become as red as her eyes. Eventually, she gets used to it, though, even giving you some unprompted physical affection of her own to show her love.
She's pretty much a yandere for you. Anyone who says any negative things about you will be met with the grin of the blood eyed demon girl if they're lucky. She would slaughter the entirety of the underground if it'd make you happy.......hypothetically, Frisk is there to control her, and it would kinda break her heart seeing you mad at her the killing.
While she might not always show it, chara is genuinely so happy to have you. You're (besides frisk) the only human who has treated her well and with love, you kinda helped her heal from everything that happened to her, and she's really glad for that. Now that she has someone who loves her and who she loves back she won't let you go.

i've since finished my catch up. and now i'm both happier for it and incredibly sad there's not more. such is life. man. fans' fiction fucking rocks. and i needed a reminder. i'm on my way to reread. wishing you so much luck in all your endeavors!! thanks for being an inspiration!!
happy almost christmas. means it wasn't christmas :)) i had been listening to a new aa1 playthrough to pass the time and it reminded me that. unfortunately. i do think edgeworth is cool (i talk in jest. about it being unfortunate. lol. i'm just not into "cool" charas usually) and it reminded me that i. really need to catch up with saturation. hell maybe reread it once i'm done. i'm in need of good fic. i'm not really a quality snob usually but i've found i just don't have the energy right now to search through the main tag. and your style of writing lets me turn my brain off. < - positive connotation. if that wasn't clear.
^U^ Thanks, and Merry Actually Christmas! ;D And XD, no worries, I get it - Edgeworth is very much one of those "Unfortunately, I'm into it" characters in regards to his everything. And I say that as someone who's writing him one of the world's longest love letters in the form of a fic that's going to break 300k when the next chapter goes up and a tidy (if tiny) little AA merch collection that I'm quite proud of, if I do say so myself. ;)
"and your style of writing lets me turn my brain off" Good, wild as it may sound for a slowburn mega!fic, Saturation's meant to be a nice comfy read, so that you're able to switch off and just enjoy the fic is good. Like, I'm trying to ensure that there's plenty to be found on a deeper read, because I enjoy doing that, but if it's not enjoyable to partake in on purely the surface level, what's even the point? Anyway, thanks for the ask, and I hope you have fun on the catch-up/reread! ^U^
#hey warning i talk a lot in the tags about personal sorta feelings. so.#aa fanfic. always a hit or miss for me. i say that with no ill will! its really a huge fandom nd i have vv specific tastes i've discovered#not so much in quality but in subject matter. nd besides. i'm neutral on a lot of fan favs and in love with a lot of generally hated charas#phoenix and edgeworth are both exceptions to that. i like them a lot. but i. naturally. dislike fics that dunk on my favs. even offhandedly#and it can be hard to find fics that i know won't. or hell. just artists that i know won't. so ace attorney is a fandom i tread vv lightly#this blogs always been an escape from that and i'm happy for it. number 2 reason i'm so excited for the in-universe time to pass is#i'm really excited to see the second trilogy adjacent plot-lines approached with. genuinely anything but total hatred. delights me#the glimpses we've got so far r some of my favorite parts of the fic#number 1 reason. is. you write good. i don't know what else to say#if i had a nickel for every time i've written down rambly tmi posts about why i love saturation i'd have two nickels. which isnt a lot but#last one's more than a year old and had a billion grammar mistakes#but i look back on it fondly anyways. i like getting my feelings out#since that last post! i've actually written fanfic! its not aa and it isn't posted anywhere but ao3 (even then. nothing but a fandom tag)#cuz i'm embarrassed. but i'm happy i wrote it down anyway. you + lots of other fic writers have changed me forever and it shows and#i'm happy that it shows. i love creating and i love others creating#online writers have bettered my writing. online visual artists have bettered my visual art. online poets have bettered my poetry. and#i wouldn't have it any other way. life is fun we r young etc. yknow

Indefinitely Hiatus.
I know this is super sudden to you guys. I apologize profusely.
It's upsetting to write this, but I have a tendency to ghost chatting about things that make me nervous, and I don't think it's fair for those that are so so nice and caring towards the blog.
I hit a very hard block recently. I was thinking of taking a hiatus before I even released wave 2 but I carried on thinking it would pass. It didn't.
I'm not sure if it is because I ended up shooting myself in the foot because of how overwhelmed I got with all the characters or I'm just in a rut. I have also been upset with how stagnant my real life has been, but I never push to change it.
Don't get me wrong. I love the babies. But I felt like they started to mush together in my brain and I don't make them yandere enough. Sure we have the "they kill people for you" and "are obsessed" lines but I hate telling and not showing. That's how I've felt as I was directing the blog recently.
I don't want to leave the blog forever because I could regret it later, but I'm also very dead inside about it.
I'm so so sorry for those that love the charas and I'm sorry for upsetting you for doing this. You guys lit my days in a very dark patch of my life. And I have nothing I could say that would equate to: I'm sorry.
That is to say, I WON'T DELETE THE BLOG NO MATTER WHAT. It will forever be up for you guys to enjoy. And you are all SUPER welcome to draw, write or think about my ocs in general! You are free to fantasize and ship with them. I made them so you guys could have them anyways. You don't have to tag me, but it would make me happy to see your creations :)
I also allowed my bestie pookie wookie @yanderefarm to write about them if he so desires. But please, remember Bunny has lovely characters that need to be highlighted themselves, so do not overwhelm him with mine.
I will try to get my life on the line, and get ahold of the things I wanted to do but haven't yet. I want to start commissions, I want to get another degree, I want to learn japanese. I want to get a stable job.
If, for some reason I ever come back, in this blog or in another one, please know I will forever hold you, YOU in my heart.
I will answer the asks I currently have inbox, but then I will close it, I apologize again for that.
I will still possibly be active on my dms or in the main blog, because I love this site, as cursed as it is, with all my heart.
Bunny, Sally, Tarkan, 🍒 anon, 🦄 anon, 🪼 anon and many other friends I've made here that will take forever to list. I wish you all the best. Crow will forever be rooting for you :)
Come to Brazil.

Asks and Commissions are open. You can leave an ask by clicking "Ask me anythin' darling" on my profile.
What asks do I accept? - Sfw (Fluff, angst, comfort, headcanons etc) - Nsfw (fics, headcanons, alphabets) Marked as MINORS DNI
(This applies both to asks and commissions, more commission info on my KoFi linked in bio)
What I won't accept? - Age gaps (18 reader and 20+ chara), age regression (I can't write it well) age play - S/A (grooming, r4pe, etc) - Anything hateful, transphobic, racist, etc - Anything that mischaracterises or just in a very bad light "Ronin as an abuser and Angel is scared of him" as an example of what I mean.
I keep the right to not do any ask, request, commission of my choice with no explanation put to it, but your ask not showing up does not mean that I deleted it or won't do it, because I can take my time with it so please be understanding of it.
More about commissions:
- My commission don't have to be solely about roseverse, it can be anything as long as I am given as many information as I may need to cover the topic. ( i do realise that im known as a rosesrot's character fanfic writer so it's important to clarify that lol)
- I can accept commission payments in forms of drawings, tho then it's more of a trade? Dunno it's fun and not everyone has 10$ - 35$ (+ add words) on themselves! I dunno how to go about words in that scenario:0 I think it'd be between 1,5k to 3,5k words since if I ever wanted an art back I would never ask for anything super detailed or realistic though I can add more words after we talk it through :D (just let me see my ocs come alive thank u)

Featuring: Berry, Rasp
Masterlist
Berry
You made it past the part where he wants your soul, now you're in the part where he wants your heart!
Berry would definitely be at your side 24/7, you liking it or not.
Why he does that? Because he wants to know more about you of course! Why doesn't he just ask?Uhhhhhhhhhhh..idk???
He genuinely tries to be romantic, not that he knows much of it, since back on the underground being romantic was considered practically the same as being weak.
But he enjoys PDA! Berry absolutely loves to throw in the face of random people that you two are together, you can even see him smiling when people look at the both of you.
He could spend HOURS watching criminal cases, it's something that he likes for some reason, especially if you watch with him.
Gives you your favorite flowers! And if you're allergic to pollen, he gives you your favorite snacks!
When I tell you you're teaching him how to cook properly I mean it.
You don't even know how him and papyrus could eat his "burritos", if you could even call them that.., they where all burned!
And after he learns how to actually cook, he definitely makes you your favorite foods every time you pay him a visit.
The first time you give him a kiss he turned into a chaotic blushing purple mess with a system error on his brain.
"WHA- HUH- DID YOU JUST- UUUUHHHH-"
Oh well, now you've summoned the devil, because now he won't let you do anything before giving him a kiss.
Definitely just grabs you, throws you into bed and cuddles you like you're a stuffed animal.
Believe me, at the end of the day he's just a silly big guy who wants your attention.
Rasp
Rasp's a bit... rash sometimes you know? It's not easy for him to express anything except for dominance because of the underground and the fact that he was a member of the royal guard.
He didn't accept the feelings he had for you, in a matter of fact, Rus was the one to tell you about Rasp's feelings towards you, since Rasp himself would do anything on his power to avoid you.
I feel like he would be really attentive to small details, like knowing with which hand you prefer to drink tea/coffee or which color gummies you eat first.
He's not much into PDA, he's only affectionate when you're both alone (sometimes when Rus's present too).
He's the type of guy to pretend not to like affection in public, just to love it when you're alone.
"WHAT WAS THAT?" "a kiss" "DISGUSTING. DO IT AGAIN."
Rasp has a very busy schedule because of his job, leaving at 6 am and only returning home at 10 pm, but he always makes sure to leave breakfast ready for you and Rus.
Rants to you about his coworkers, he does it so often that you now hate some woman named Barbara from his workplace.
You're on the top of his priorities list, all the way up with Rus.
Definitely sits with you and Chara to have tea time on Sundays.
He has a really hot body temperature, so on summer nights he just holds your hand while you sleep, summer's already warm, no need to make you feel like you've been set on fire.

Chara undertale how I hate you (affectionate). The fandom has endless arguments about your nature and purpose to the story of undertale. I am going to regurgitate information I have stewing in my mind and put down my theory/interpretation.
You are Chara, or rather Chara is the actual player character of Undertale.
I'll start with simply listing out information that points to this:
Chara's fall date is marked as 201X, with the X being a stand-in for the game's release year of 2015 (alternatively, the demo's release year of 2013).
The player names them, and most players will name them after themselves for the first playthrough, this seems to be intended and expected. The demo's manual describes this as naming "your character."
"CHARA" is the default name, and using it or in the naming screen results in the response "The True Name." The term "True Name" has various definitions that could apply to this situation, but the one that seems the most accurate is "the name of a thing or being that expresses, or is somehow identical with, its true nature." Chara is short for "Character," which would mean Chara's true nature is that of a character of some kind. The variable "Truename" is also used to control when Flowey refers to Frisk as Chara in aborted genocide routes and subsequent neutrals. In Deltarune, the "truename" variable also stores the player name.
Similar to Gaster for Deltarune, when Undertale came out, messages from Flowey were posted by the official Undertale Twitter account. They're directed at "you," which in this case appears to be Chara. Here's the transcription: "Hee hee hee...I've been waiting for you to get here. How long has it been...? How many years...? ... It doesn't matter. I KNEW you would come back. ... So. What do you say? Won't you play with me again? =)"
Chara's name appears on Frisk's stats/save menu and the battle screen. In Deltarune, we see something similar, but it only occurs on Kris' save file with the player name.
Throughout the game, you will occasionally see some of Chara's memories. This occurs in the intro and when Frisk dies, falls asleep under specific circumstances in Toriel's home in the ruins, or falls into the garbage dump. Something similar happens in Asriel's boss fight, but we know that comes from Asriel himself due to the name of the code and Temmie's FAQ describing it as Asriel regaining his memories.
Here's some quotes from Flowey/Asriel describing his motivations:
"If you leave the underground satisfied, you'll "win" the game. If you "win," you won't want to "play" with me anymore. [...] But this game between us will NEVER end."
"I just want to reset everything. All your progress... Everyone's memories. I'll bring them all back to zero! Then we can do everything ALL over again."
"Do you know why I'm doing this...? Why I keep fighting to keep you around...? I'm doing this... Because you're special, [Name]. You're the only one that understands me. You're the only one who's any fun to play with anymore. I'm not ready for this to end. I'm not ready for you to leave. I'm not ready to say goodbye to someone like you again..."
Asriel's motivations are very odd to read from an in-universe perspective. If he broke the barrier, he could still play with Frisk (who he thinks is Chara), but instead, he seems to think that if they leave the Underground satisfied (if the game is won), he'll have to say goodbye to them again. To stop "the game" from ending, he wants to reset it and force you to do it again.
Toby seems to see and portray the relationship between the player character and the player as the two being mostly one and the same entity. This goes all the way back to his Earthbound Halloween Hack days, and you can see it in his statements all of the time, such as here when he refers to Kris' room and family using second person pronouns. But I think you can see it most clearly in Skies Forever Blue's lyrics (which were written by Toby), in which the singer conflates the player character "Two friends started just as neighbors" and the player "When you made my name the same just as the one you love, then I knew. Maybe to your view, I'm just a faintly colored hue, that's alright," and falls in love with them.
Flowey's post pacifist monologue reveals a lot. It is directed at the one being with control of the Save/Load system, which means he became aware of them and their presence at some point. He begs the being in question to not reset and describes it as "the power you were fighting to stop [...] The power that I wanted to use," referring to his plan as Asriel to keep the game going. He begs this being to let Frisk and the monsters live out their lives, separating this being and Frisk. The speech places extra emphasis on the word "you" twice by fully capitalizing it. Flowey addresses the being he's talking to as the name you gave Chara. An extra note to add here is after this scene and before true resetting, the menu theme is replaced with an extremely slowed down version of the regular menu theme (extremely slowed down music is associated with Chara by the genocide route).
Why does Chara share a name with the player? Because they are our character.
Now, to restate the theory: You are Chara, or rather Chara is the actual player character of Undertale. This leads to a nesting doll situation with Frisk.
Why did Chara fall down in a year that is a stand-in date for the game's release? Because that's the first year the player could have played Undertale.
Why is Chara's name on Frisk's save file? Because Chara/you are the being who is actually in control of it.
Why is Chara's name in Frisk's stats? Because you're not directly playing as Frisk, you're playing as Chara, who is then playing as/controlling Frisk. This may also be the real reason we see their memories constantly, it's a POV flashback. We're not even entirely sure Frisk sees these memories. The True Lab phone call could imply they don't, as the Asriel voice used for that also appears in the Waterfall fall down flashback scene.
Why does Asriel not want the barrier to be broken/not want the game to be beaten? Because if the game ends in a satisfying way, you will stop playing it, and so Asriel will have to say goodbye to you (Chara) as you can't exist in Undertale's world when the game is over.
Just from the evidence in neutral/pacifist, this seems to be what Toby was trying to portray. While the genocide route does complicate this, I think it also reinforces it a lot too.
Chara's enhanced presence in the genocide route is first made known when the kill counter in the ruins is exhausted. Dialogue/narration from them then appears in Toriel's house. "Where are the knives?" in the kitchen and "It's me, [Name]" in the mirror.
As a pre-emptive note, I do not believe in NarraChara and think it is not intentional. As such I do not take it into account. To me, there is a general narrator that Chara occasionally speaks over in the genocide route. Chara consistently speaks in a very contrasting tone with regular narration and always in first person. The closest to normal narration they speak is the "Strongly felt [x] left. Shouldn't proceed yet" waterfall geno-abort prevention dialogue, which dodges any pronouns and is still likely Chara describing their own emotions in first person perspective. The genocide route takes many ques from classic video game creepypasta tropes. The player character speaking directly to the player is one of them, and it is purposefully portrayed in contrast to be eerie.
The second line, in particular, begins a running trend throughout the route, Chara claiming ownership of Frisk's body/actions and speaking as if they ARE Frisk. The second case of this is actually during Glad Dummy, which despite using second person pronouns, is clearly directed at the Dummy itself which would make sense if they were facing her personally "Wipe that smile off your face." The third case is when facing Monster Kid, with their encounter text, "In my way." The line "It's me, [Name]" reappears in both the lab camera and Asgore's mirrors. The Hotland Guards have their check text "I see two lovers [...] I couldn't stop laughing." The final notable instance is "(I unlocked the chain)."
That last one, in particular, is by itself actually an indication we are playing as Chara anyway. We are the one who presses interact on the keychain, and Chara unlocks the chain as a result. Is that not playing as Chara?
Chara's monologues are often the subject of the debate of "Who is Chara talking to?" I personally think its pretty clear that they're talking to the player. Nothing they say makes sense in-universe. The idea that they're talking to Frisk also runs into a problem when they suggest doing a different route if you recreate the world again. Frisk, just like Flowey, does not remember True Resets or completed genocide routes (unlike Chara who on the steam release can technically remember things from other installs of Undertale which further ties them and the player together, as Flowey/Asriel's dialogue implies that True Resets erase the memories/deja vu of everyone besides the one preforming them). Also, why would you be talking as if you were equals to a person you've been controlling the entire time? That feels a bit odd to me.
The behavior of out-of-player-control actions starting in Snowdin is vastly different in this route, and the implication is that this is Chara's doing. Rushing through introductions/cutscenes with Sans and Papyrus and refusing to do puzzles. Starting in Waterfall, the surprised encounter icon is replaced with a smile (associated with them by that being their sprite's default expression). Threatening Monster Kid & Flowey (with a "creepy face" associated with them by the True lab tapes). Slashing Sans and Asgore. Mercilessly & Sadistically cutting down Flowey. They are controlling or heavily influencing Frisk.
Chara controlling Frisk and claiming ownership of Frisk's body/action seems very similar to how Toby portrays the relationship between a player character and their player. While Chara is OUR player character, Frisk would basically be Chara's player character. Chara is controlling Frisk and claiming ownership of the actions they make Frisk do, exactly like a player would. They act as both player and player character. Your player character, and the player of Frisk.
To cite a funny quote (from a video) that boils down my arguments surrounding the genocide route quite well: "Because really, the concept of an entity bearing the player name possessing the player avatar to do evil stuff is so blatantly on the nose that you need to do some intense eyesight contortionism to not see what the game is telling you."
They call themself "the demon that comes when you call it's name," a direct reference to the naming screen of the game. They refer to themself as the feeling you get when stats increase. They ask you to "erase this pointless world" (delete Undertale) and "move onto the next" (play another video game). If you choose erase, they call you a great partner and say that you and them will be "together forever." This seems to imply that as you go through the genocide route, they start embodying an aspect of you that relates to grinding in video games, beating them, and erasing them to move onto others. This is another thing that makes them and the player inseperable.
Even with those two lines, I think this interpretation is extremely strong and seems to at least be close to Toby's intent. It also keeps getting reinforced:
Chara's monologues do contain lines that present a problem to this theory/interpretation. The first one is "Since when were you the one in control?" The second one is "But. You and I are not the same, are we?" The second happens directly after Chara calls themself an emotion you feel while leveling up in games (basically saying they're a part of you) and in context refers to how you keep playing through Undertale's genocide route instead of doing anything else. Chara stopped being able to understand you outside of your drive for power and completion they claim to represent, but I don't think this actually necessarily causes any problems for the rest of this theory.
The Important person shirt is in both Undertale and Deltarune's sections on fangamer's merch site, and while it is clearly Kris' shirt in design, its description should also apply to Chara because it's being sold as a shirt for them as well. This description of it from the newsletter is what added the "It will make you look like someone with an important connection to you." The "You" also gets replaced by whatever name you subscribed to the newsletter with.
This Twitter thread by Wandydoodles is where I got the Flowey/Asriel motivations from. Additionally, despite not agreeing with Oblivion theory's conclusions regarding Deltarune, I think its Undertale/Chara analysis is really great and deserves a read.
While the shirt has been used to argue about Kris' DR counterpart, I don't think the description is referring to that topic at all, as it focuses on specifically the connection the shirt's bearers share with the player. The only connection I can think of is that both Chara and Kris are player characters. If you think Frisk is the player character of Undertale and Chara is a third party, they don't really have any connection to the player at all. We also don't name Kris, unlike Chara. I would actually like to see other interpretations of this because I genuinely cannot think of any other possible "important connection" Kris and Chara could both individually share with the player.

This Youtube video by Grim Dreamer was a inspiration. While it is primarily a NarraChara debunk video, the creator proposes the same theory this post is about as a part of the analysis.

how are your Killer, Dust and Horror versions?, i mean how is your interpretation of them?
Killer is the most chaotic, loud and annoying between Dust and Horror. He's sarcastic most of the time and has no shame whatsoever. When he's on stage 2 I mean. He's not afraid to piss Nightmare off, but he knows his limits and to stop at time before he irritates him too much. Despite how he acts he's smart. Stage 1. Killer is more vulnerable to feelings and everything around him. The emotions he's feeling can become too overwhelming and panic. (This can be resolved with support from friends, Dream's aura or Nightmare's aura neutralizing Killer's soul back at stage 2.)
Killer doesn't always take things seriously, only when necessary.
Horror takes great care whether Dust and Killer (or anyone who is a member of Nightmare's team) eat or sleep. He doesn't talk much, he just observes most of the time. He doesn't eat until he makes sure everyone eats first. Horror is thankful that Nightmare gives them plenty to eat and reassures them about it, so they won't feel hungry again at all. Horror also hates food being wasted. Horror has a habit of chewing whatever's in his hand. He can also recognize the smell of others. Without even looking to see who's entering the room, he knows who the person is by their smell.
Dust is very anti-social. He'll mostly want to be left alone and have his peace and quiet. He hates noise. He prefers to hang out more with Horror, as he doesn't make any noise. He finds Killer annoying, but not enough to hate him. Dust really doesn't talk much. He only talks when he feels it's necessary. He can also be chaotic when he feels provoked. He doesn't bother his company so much when you're not there to irritate him or talk too loud. Dust hates any Charas or Frisks, he can't trust them. Not even Core Frisk he can't trust. Dust doesn't trust anyone in general outside of Nightmare's team. Dust will honestly tell you exactly what's on his mind or how he feels about everyone else. (not to the point of betraying them.)
Dust will appear to be cold most of the time.

I heard somewhere theory that Chara poisoned themself using buttercups because they wanted somehow to manipulate Asriel with their suffering (i think it was from nochocolate) and it's like...what?
(Aka. Another rant about Evil Chara theory and breaking down one of the tapes in true lab)
Asgore was sick but survived, which could imply that Chara thought that they won't suffer so much but that would be wierd, since Chara ate those buttercups with the intent of dying, not just getting sick.
This is what Asriel says in the tapes:
"*Oh, yeah. I remember.
*When we tried to make butterscotch pie for Dad, right?
*The recipe asked for cups of butter…
*But we accidentally put in buttercups instead.
*Yeah!
*Those flowers got him really sick.
*I felt so bad.
*We made Mom really upset.
*I should have laughed it off, like you did…
*Um, anyway, where are you going with this?"
Asgore got REALLY sick and Their mother was very upset. Chara is a rather smart child, they probably realized that since Asgore got super sick and he's very strong person, a small kid like them would die.
Also Toriel was mad at them, i'm sure that she (or Asgore too) would explain that those buttercups can kill a person.
Also Chara didn't had much choice beside poison, Toriel hides the knifes ("Where are the knifes") and makes sure that the gardering tools are safe (The tools have been filed down to make them safer.")
Oh and, Chara isn't a manipulator. And if they are, they are not good at it.
We have not seen Chara manipulating ANYONE in the game. The player decides for themself that they want to kill everyone, Chara just helps us, they never throuth the game suggest murder.
And Asriel? He idolizes Chara too much, we don't know if Chara is responsible. Chara was seen as a hope for monsterkind and they were also Asriels best friend and adopted sibling, of course he wouldn't doubt them, especially since he's the kind of person that he is.
Also, Asriel or Chara never say that it was only Charas plan.
Chara says that it's "OUR" plan. They have no reason to lie anymore, Asriel isn't even there. They really seem to believe that it was THEIR plan.
I don't read nochocolate theories because I hate what they do to Chara, but i once saw a question they asked on one of their posts on how Chara is evil and manipulative.
"Why Chara couldn't get those flowers?"
"*I… I don’t like this idea, (PLAYER).
*Wh… what?
*N-no, I’m not…
*… big kids don’t cry.
*Yeah, you’re right.
*No!
*I’d never doubt you, (PLAYER)…
*Never!
*Y… yeah!
*We’ll be strong!
*We’ll free everyone.
*I’ll go get the flowers."
Here, we can exacly see here the conversation between Asriel and Chara but we can't tell what Chara says.
Let's break it down.
"*I… I don’t like this idea, (PLAYER).
*Wh… what?
*N-no, I’m not…
*… big kids don’t cry"
Here we can see Asriel (probably) tearing up and Chara notices it. Let's notice that ASRIEL is the one saying "Big kids don't cry", not Chara, he also doesn't seem to quote what Chara says because then it would be something like "You're right, bigs kids dont cry."
Also at first he says "What? No, i'm not." Which seems to be a "Yes or no" question.
The best what we can assume here is Chara simply asking if Asriel is crying. There is no proof that Chara is mocking or insulting him here.
Asriel is ashamed of crying but it doesn't have to be because of Chara. A lot of kids are ashamed of crying without being bullied. Asriel always wanted to be seen as a big, strong kid (ex. Flowey), so of course he wouldn't want to cry, especially infront of someone who he likes.
Papyrus also doesn't want anyone to know that he cried in the true pacifist ending, does that means he gets bullied by Sans? (lol)
"*No!
*I’d never doubt you, (PLAYER)…
*Never!
*Y… yeah!
*We’ll be strong!
*We’ll free everyone."
Here it's pretty clear, Chara ask Asriel if he is doubting them.
But is that a manipulation tactic? We never seen Chara manipulate anyone before and Asriel just said a second ago that he doesn't like this idea. Even if it was manipulative, i don't think Chara did that on purpose. There is just no evidence for that.
Also they seem to want to cheer up Asriel right after.
And the last part.
*I’ll go get the flowers."
Asriel never states that Chara made him go get the flowers, it (at least sounds like) was his idea. If Chara ordered him to do it, Asriel would say something like "Okay, i will get the flowers."
Also, like shown before, Chara belives that it was THEIR ("Our") plan, not only Charas.
Yes, buttercups are toxic to the touch, but there is no proof that Asriel actually got hurt. He never mentions it, nowhere.
In the previous tape, Asriel talks about when Chara and him collected the buttercups for that pie and he never mentions his hands hurting from the flower.
And at the end, in the pacifist ending where Asriel stops idolizing Chara, he still thinks that resisting Chara wasn't "the best decision"
Also its worth to mention that Asriel never says that it was only Charas plan.
In conclusion, i lost the point in the middle of writting this so here is just another post on why i don't think Chara was an evil manipulator and why i hate nochocolate takes (i know their theories are old but i wasn't active when they were and i just keep fining their theories everywhere and i'm butthurt lol)

Transcript: I don't know man I just think that labelling a character who's whole story was about how hate can deeply hurt someone + people can still take bad decisions even with good intentions in mind as COMPLETELY EVIL just misses the point about Undertale being a game about people being complex + not falling under the black and white perspective. It won't kill you to not see a character as inherently evil, especially if it's been constantly explained why they did all of that, ESPECIALLY if even their creator goes on to say that they're not a bad or evil person but just a complicated one. Chara Undertale they could never make me hate you

Platonic :
• First, you two didn't meet each other by yourself, it's Frisk and Asriel who introduced you to her/him
• At first, she/he didn't like you, but after you hangout with her/him, he started to warme up to you. If you happen to give her/him her/his favourite chocolate, she/he LOVE you !!!
• She/he really like your hugs, don't get me wrong, she/he hug Asriel because it's her/his brother, but with you it's special ^^. When even she/he need affection from you, she/he just come to you and hug you tightly.
• If you happen to have a bully and come back with bruise on you, bro, you better know that this person will be death, she/he was bullied a lot before she/he fall in the underground, she/he will NOT tolerate some bully messing with the people she/he care about !!
• She/he will sometimes prank you just to messe with you, not like bad jokes, no, like very funny little pranks to annoying you, but if you fight back, oh oh oh~, that will be interesting~
Romantic :
• Now that was difficult to write... But I've tried...-_-"
• First, I think she/he's starting to be clingy to you, like, if you wake early and go take break fast without her/him, and when she/he doesn't see you next to her/him... she/he's gonna FREAK OUT !!! BUT LITERALLY !!
• She/he's a very protective partner, like, he gave to the person you're talking with a death glare... But she/he's doing nothing to them.
• Now she/he's VERY JEALOUS !! She/he really doesn't appreciate you talking too much with someone for too long... But she/he know that you won't cheat on her/him ^^ !
• It takes time for her/him to tell you his past... You'll have to be patient with her/him... When she/he'll tell you, she/he's grateful you don't hate her/him or judge her/him, really... That means a lot to her/him..!!
Piou !! Finally finished this one ! To that next I hope !!
