Q: What kind of house slippers does Radovid have?
Not quite house slippers...just cute Ofiri slippers for walking in summer days <3 Radovid in an Ofiri robe-chapan is going to drink tea and unite the North under the rule of Redania. As you can see, he is already drinking tea. 🍵

Having many family members who are of vastly different cultures and ethnicities is fun and all until they get to you and ask what you are.
#like culturally I’m Native American (Cree. Mi’kmaq. Dene. and Taino)#like my Caribbean chapan literally passed down her family’s spiritual traditions#so uh. ceremony is a bit different#ethnically I think I’m just indigenous#but like it changes drastically for my parents#my mom is native and Asian#while her mom is culturally Asian and native#dad is native#while his mom is French and native#his dad is native#all while being Latino and Fijian decent#no joke I have cousins who are actually from fiji all thanks to my third chapan#and the thing is that they all passed down stories and cultures#they just stopped when residential schools became mandatory#so the cultural practices and family history all stopped with my grandparents.#my parents saw the remnants of it#they just weren’t told anything#it was a whole can of worms we unleashed#coming from generations of mixed people is difficult#but it definitely makes a cool story!#like a whole family album would be insane to look at

Hi, I'm really interested in traditional winter clothing of both men and women from areas around pakistan and afghanistan. A lot of the clothing that we see is often tailored towards the hot summers but I've been thinking about how night and winters just arent that hot and then there are significant populations and distinct cultures who have adapted to life in the mountainous regions.
I've done some light research and asked some family and the only thing I've found is the Chitral coat. I'd be really interested in anything you might know about this. Thanks 😊
Hi! I don't know too much, but I can share a bit.
Winter clothing is mostly made of wool (in contrast to summer clothing, which is made of cotton, linen, and silk). Some examples are woolen shawls (worn by both men and women), the men's pakol hat (which also originated in Chitral but is popular in almost every region now), sheepskin coats with thick wool lining, and I guess for special occasions they use heavier fabrics like velvet. I'm assuming there's also more layering of clothing in general.
I believe there is also the Uzbek chapan but I don't know too much about it, except that it's usually made of silk, wool, and/or cotton.
I don't really know anything about winter footwear but my best guess was leather boots cuz it made the most sense. Your question got me curious though cuz I literally never thought about it before, so I looked it up and found some of these:
Nuristani leather boots
Also from Afghanistan, made of leather and silk.
I also read on the Bata shoe museum that people would usually wear long "leather boot socks" (below) which were meant to be worn with normal shoes and function as boots outdoors, and when coming indoors you could remove the shoes and continue wearing the "boot-socks".
That's pretty much it! I guess overall, just lots of leather and wool and basically heavier versions of regular clothing.

Inktober: day 10 - Nomad
Decided to go with a Kazakh theme because of their strong nomad culture (and because its my family’s culture) and asked my dad for references because he was the best person to ask about this, so he sent me a picture of himself in a Kazakh chapan that I gave to Jose because this is still Josetober (he looks so minimalist)😍 (will redraw this properly in an undetermined future)
#this is so rushed I’m so sorry I was working on homework and realised I had less than half an hour to make something before midnight#so many things to do I can’t wait to be more organised#thank you father for the last minute assistance#I will definitely redraw this because there’s no details and there’s supposed to be so many prints#I want to make my dad proud but this is not it-#anyways back to work now 😔

- J A D E O S
