Kellogg's Khorne Flakes - 5th Ed World Eaters
In returning to 40k 5th Ed, one of the quickest, easiest and (at the time) most inexpensive lists I could build was a Khorne Berserker list. Two boxes of the old Berserkers gave me 24 angry Bois for about $110 AUD. That divided up nicely into 3 squads of 8 Berserkers. Add a Lord and a Dreadnought, it made an easy 1,000 pt list that existed to run at the enemy and punch.
Lets meet the gang shall we?

This is the first of the 3 Squads, the Skull Champions in the squads haven't been named yet. I went with the Pre-Herey white and blue scheme as a deliberate homage to two of my favourite armies I saw at local tournaments around 15 years ago.

One Berserker Squad runs a power Weapon on its Champion along with two Plasma Pistols to be a little cheaper - while the other two squads both run with a power fist and 3 Plasma Pistols.

Here you can see some of the ways I helped make the Champions stand out. They all have the same Skull shoulder pad and some alternate heads which were spares I had lying around from my AoS Khorne army.

Then we have the first of 3 Dreadnoughts/Hellbrutes. This is Tana the Bold. I've tried to give each Dreadnought a little Lore snippet, here's his:
A respected, albeit impetuous warrior, a characteristic that saw this former praetor of the War Hounds cut down in battle and interred in a Dreadnought long before they were reunited with their Primarch. Time has not been kind to Tana, as becomes increasingly unstable the longer he has remained active. This once great leader is now little more than a raging whirlwind for Chaos Lord Kellogg to unleash upon the battlefield when it pleases him to do so.

Then there's Kellogg. A simple head swap on the Master of Executions made for a fierce looking Lord to lead this force. He started out devastating in his early days, but once people wizened up to what he can do, he can often be seen copping a Demolisher Cannon to the face or getting singled out by a Vindicare Assassin.
A cruel and bitter officer who reluctantly gave up the Legion's former title 'The War Hounds', Kellogg resented what became of his peers very quickly after Angron assumed command. In the warrior lodges he attempted to air his grievances but found only scorn. Increasingly alienated within the World Eaters, Kellogg feared his ferocity and continued successes were the only thing keeping him safe from demotion or worse. Since the Heresy, all other motives have been eroded, leaving a twisted shell of a warrior consumed by rage and the need to be in control at all times. The contradictory nature of these two behaviours has driven him well beyond insanity as his endless frustration spurs him on from one slaughter to the next...
Next up, over the last year I have gradually added more vehicles and Daemons to the army...

Presenting, quite possibly one of the first models i ever built and painted.
Mavet Hollowheart, Chaos Lord of the Fulgrim's Sons. He was very quickly replaced and rewritten when i decided to change my army to be World Eaters. Sadly, due to how old this model is, I no longer have the background i wrote for him. However - I still have the background notes for his second, World Eaters version. I'll be posting the second version of Mavet soon.

Finally something a little smaller outside of just big beasties and daemons. I was first introduced to 40k by my dad when I was like 12(ish?), and after that I just took a deep dive. One of the first things that I read that was 40k related was actually adb’s night lords trilogy, on the bus, almost every day as I rode to school. In fact, that’s probably the reason I’m so into chaos in general.
Probably my last post today. Will probably end up posting in bursts until I run out of minis I want to show off in my collection, then I’ll post whatever I get done. I’m working on a forge fiend right now, and with the new chaos codex out, I’ll probably still be busy getting stuff I don’t already have.

Chaosdramon EX3-013 Alternative Art by Naochika Morishita from EX-03 Theme Booster Draconic Roar
This Alternative Art of Chaodsramon from EX3 is a reference to the Chaosdramon "Chaos Lord" from Digimon World 2.
Tumblr media
The silhouettes in the background represent his three Chaos Generals: ChaosSeadramon, ChaosPiemon, and ChaosGreymon.

[Bandai Artwork edits by me]
None of them ever got added to the official Digimon Reference Book though. Judging by the guidelines for the Illustration Competition, featuring Digimon, which aren't in the Reference Book, is not allowed. So maybe only showing them as silhouettes, which are identical to MetalSeadramon, Piemon, and WarGreymon, was a way around that restriction.

Here we go - Mavet the second, leader of my original World Eaters army.
Mavet Hollowheart, Chaos lord of Mavet's Sons
After the battle of Skalathrax, A large group banded together in a nameless group of marauders. These brothers saw themselves as Gladiators, with their own twisted ideas of honour. Unusually, this band seldom took the Butchers Nails, though they remain dedicated to Khorne.
After a time, a lowly regarded marine, Mavet, challenged the warband's leader to a duel. The duel barely lasted a minute, and the then-unknown Mavet ascended to lead the warband. He renamed it after himself, and over time became regarded as an almost messianic figure amongst the warband. Overtime their ranks swelled, and it now has several different minor cults within it that all follow their own idea of Khorne's worship.
A short list of the most notable cults -
The Keepers of the Old Ways - Led by a marine who does not follow Khorne, and teaches drilled bolter skills and ranged combat, and are considered extremely stubborn.
The Barrage Cult - A group obsessed with the most destructive weapons possible and a tendency to fire on anything, regardless of it's allegiance, led by whoever Mavet thinks can control them the most.
The Forsaken - A notable trait of Mavet's Sons is a universal hatred for bionic implants. Should a marine be given a bionic, he is most likely forced into the Forsaken, having the Butcher's nails implanted within them against their will, and unleashed as fodder to kill as many as possible before their own death. There is a dark rumour that Mavet orders unnecessary bionic installations, keeping The Forsaken's ranks swollen with suicidal, ostracized maniacs.
The Bloodied Hand - Led by a marine with a bionic powerfist, dubbed "Shavur", The Bloodied Hand are secretive. Despite being outcast, Shavur somehow was able to amass a following of marines. He preached to them how relying on power armour and technology, they were weakening themselves and disrespecting Khorne. The marines who follow Shavur often go into battle with only the barest essentials - perhaps a bolt pistol and the essentials of power armour, leaving their arms and head unarmored. They frequently use old gladiatorial weapons, such as basic axes and swords with no inherent technology. Notably, any who join Shavur's group change over time - their skin turning a stony, sickly grey, but their secretive nature means the exact circumstances behind this are unknown.
