Sick!Changkyun
Pairing: Changkyun X Reader (gender neutral)
Genre: fluff, sick!AU
author’s note: I think there’s gonna be an era of just bullet imagines, but i’ll try to combine and do it the old fashioned way. I apologize if you wanted a bullet imagine but got a long story or you wanted a full story and only got a bullet imagine instead. I’m going to do things the way I think will be easy for me and what I see will fit the story. And as always, feedback is greatly appreciated!
Other Sick! MX: Hyunwoo // Wonho // Minhyuk // Kihyun // Hyungwon // Jooheon // Changkyun
I strongly suggest listening to this while reading for a stronger effect!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tears of Mother Nature pelted the earth as well as her cries rumbling throughout the sky
She cast her shadow over the city, making it feel cold and dark and gloomier than normal
it was perfect for you
you were a rising author in the process of your second book
your apartment was basically a giant room;
there were two walls of glass which stretched from the ground to the ceiling
your desk  was in the corner, seeing down into the bustling city life
you sat in your chair, wearing pajama pants and one of Changkyun’s shirts you stole, but he knew either way
the images and scenes you wished for your readers played vividly in your mind
your fingers typed rapidly over the keyboard, hearing nothing, not even the rain, except for your key pressing
it felt like if you kept going like this, staying in your zone, you probably could finish the next few chapters
you were pulled out of your zone from the buzzing of your phone
you paused, seeing you got some texts from Changkyun
C: y/nnn can you come over? :(
C: I’m sorry to bother you cause I know you’re busy with your book
C: I’m sick and I can’t sleep
C: I need you here to help me sleep :((
C: C: you don’t have to of course since you might get sick
Your heart fluttered at the sight
Changkyun had come down a fever a few days ago and from what you heard last from Kihyun, he was recovering so you didn’t worry too much about it
he wasn’t really ever like this with you, only sometimes when he really wanted something from you
but either way, you still loved it and him nonetheless
Y/N: don’t be sorry, I’m coming over
Y/N: I don’t care if I get sick, Kyun. I want you to get better so if I have to get sick for you to get better, I’ll take it
Y/N: I’ll make a quick stop for some stuff on the way
Y/N: see you in a bit. Try to rest a little <3
And with those sent, you saved your work, shut your laptop and began to get ready
you didn't really change your clothes: all you did was put an oversized hoodie on and slipped into your rain boots and raincoat
you grabbed your essentials and left your apartment, entering the city life
The rain pattered off your raincoat, fortunately feeling no coldness or rain
their dorms were about a ten to fifteen-minute walk depending on you
traffic wasn’t too heavy, but the vehicles crowding the roads made its pretense evident
people walked by, holding umbrellas of various sizes and colors
even children held their own small umbrellas in their matching raincoat and boots
you were about halfway to the dorms when you stopped by the pharmacy, grabbing some medicine for Changkyun and some small fruity snacks
you stood in line when you pulled out your phone texting Changkyun once again
Y/N: have you eaten?
the pharmacy was bright and white, feeling like it was one of those cosmetic stores with the white interior and tiled floors, but the medicinal smell and the ringing of the phones and the walking back and forth of pharmacists
moments later, Changkyun replied
C: not really
C: i haven't been able to really hold anything down
C: My nose is stuffed a little so things don’t taste as good ;(
Y/N: want me to bring you anything to eat?
you want me to bring you anything to eat?
he coughed a little, maybe sneezed, but he was always able to eat and get better in a matter of days
this time it really was bad and it made you worry
C: no thanks, the others went out to eat and Kihyun said he would bring me some food back, so hopefully something hot
C: I just need you
Y/N: I’ll be there soon, stay warm
You quickly got your items, paid for them, and went back into the rain, beginning your way to Changkyun
the closer you got to their dorms, the fewer people there were around
this part of the city they lived in was more like a neighborhood-like area
meaning there were more residential areas than industrial and business
you approached the familiar dormitory, opening the door to darkness and the faint sound of something you couldn’t quite make out
you set your bag down to the side, taking off your boots and neatly putting them to the side as well as your raincoat
you walked past their kitchen, seeing some messy plates in the sink, but overall clean
you walked deeper into the dorm and into the darkest place so far, the living room
a green frog humidifier sat on the table beside a dark figure laying on the couch
it was changkyun
he had one of his blankets from his room draped over him
he laid on his side with his hood up, his raven hair covering his eyes
you knelt down in front of him, softly sliding your hand under his hair, feeling much warmer his head was than you thought
his eyes opened slowly against your touch, making him bring the blanket up closer to his face
“How are you doing, Kyun?”
you pet his resting head outside his hood, feeling his warmth radiate through the clothing
“I have a headache and I feel really tired, but I can’t sleep..” his voice was gravelly, lower than normal
his voice drifted off as he reached for your hands, taking them in his
despite being dressed so warmly and being under a blanket he used for winter, his hands were icy cold
“Wanna sleep?” you whispered softly, trying not to suddenly be loud since you didn’t want to worsen his headache
He slowly nodded his head, nuzzling his cheek against your hand, feeling how warm and soft his skin was
The ends of his hair stuck to his forehead from perspiration, but he didn’t sweat that much
“Here.” You used your free hand and pulled out some medicine you bought from the pharmacy earlier, using one hand to open it and pour the medicine into the little clear plastic cup it came with
“I’ll be right back.”  You took your other hand from him as he laid on his side, watching you fade from his vision and back within a matter of moments
you returned with a mug of warm water and knelt back down beside him
knowing Changkyun, he probably hasn't taken any medicine since Kihyun left since he was a mother after all
He slowly pushed himself up and just seeing the way he moved made you feel as weak as he did at this moment
you scooted closer, ready with your arms out if he collapsed
he took the small cup of medicine from your hands, sipping it down and then traded it for the mug of water to wash it down
he sighed, laying back down
“Ready to sleep?”
He slowly nodded his head, opening the blanket and his arms waiting for you to join him
You got in beside him, feeling how warm the space was, but you could still feel how cold his hands were
He moved as you laid down, so now you laid on your back and he held himself up with his arms, having a clear view of you
He lowered himself onto you, sighing in relief as he rested his head on your chest, hearing your heartbeat
you wrapped your arms around him, moving his hood a little, allowing you to comb your fingers soothingly through his hair
his body laid on yours, resting between you and the couch
his back rose and fell slowly as his breaths got deeper and slower
you noticed he had a small wheeze with his breaths, but it slowly disappeared the longer the two of you stayed like that
he finally fell asleep, putting you at ease
the long hours you missed sleep in order to write began to come back to you, making your eyes droop, making them heavier and heavier as moments passed
Faint memories and just random thoughts fill your head
Even ideas for what could happen next or just in general for your book flowed through, making the story more suspenseful and ending it on some sort of cliffhanger
Usually, you would take note of these since you would forget what you thought of earlier, but this time, you didn’t feel the need to
If the idea was really good enough, it would resurface in your mind later
All that mattered now was Changkyun and how he was finally asleep
Your first book was originally just based off something Changkyun and you had done together
but with your mind, you twisted it and changed it, bringing it to a whole new dimension
the way you used your words took readers to this dimension and they never wanted to leave
You didn’t think many people would like it, let alone let it be very popular, but here you were, writing the next part of the series
You tried to sleep lightly in case anything were to happen with Changkyun
You moved one of your hands careful not to wake him and placed it on his forehead, feeling how warm it was still, but he must’ve been getting better since his hands were warming up
Silence filled the dark dorm
The gentle rain pittering off the roof outside echoed softly off the walls
The humidifier on the table had been turned to a smaller setting since the one before made too much noise to your liking
It felt as if the two of you were synced together with the two of you so close like this
It felt as if time had slowed down for the two of you, letting you two to just live and be together
Everything in this moment with Changkyun felt so right
The front door opened
The sound of the others’ voices chatting and laughing filled the room
They kicked off their shoes, dispersing throughout the dorm, but first came to the living room
“Aw, Y/N and Changky-”
You cut off Minhyuk by bringing your finger to your lips, shushing them
“He’s finally asleep,” you mouthed in a whisper barely audible
The realization had hit him, making him back away slowly with a smile on his face
You glanced downwards, seeing how Changkyun was, hoping he was still asleep, and thankfully he was
You brushed your fingers lightly through his hair, resting your face against his head and resting your eyes
When you looked back up, the members were gathered in the hall towards which led to the living room, smiling as he saw the two of you together
You gave them a small smile and wave, seeing them disperse to their own activities
Kihyun had approached softly, placing a bag of what you assumed was food for him
“There should be enough for the two of you, if not, I’ll make you something, Y/N. Thank you for taking care of our Changkyun,” he smiled and whispered softly
“It’s nothing, but thank you.. I just hope he recovers soon.”
He disappeared to most likely the kitchen, beginning on the dishes, leaving the two of you alone
You pulled the blanket up, covering the two of you, even more, letting you two be consumed by deep sleep and warmth
~~~~~ Masterlist for more!
[Fulfilled] The Cupid Effect
Prompt: changki au + Cupid!Kihyun who wants to be loved too and falls in love of changkyun
Fulfilled by Mod Ree~
Words: 1135 (so far~)
AO3 Link
Kihyun sighs tiredly, watching as the latest set of lovebirds walk passed him, their fingers braided together in the tightest of locks. He rests his elbow against the rim of the small table in the cafe, rests his chin against his upturned palm…
Yet another successful match. Just another checkmark in the ever-growing box of good Kihyun has done for the universe. He’s sure the Boss will be pleased, though he can’t help but be slightly resentful of it. He’s been on Earth for centuries now, going on with only time as his constant companion.
It especially gets harder to handle during the holiday season.
The angel of love stands, dropping a tip atop the table before making his way for the exit. He doesn't want to stick around here in the outside world for longer than he has to.
After trudging through the chilling streets and being reminded of his eternal loneliness at every turn, he makes it to his crummy apartment across town. He shoulders his way through the door into the lobby, the peeling wallpaper causing him to crinkle his nose in disgust. When he was given this assignment, to live among mortals and show them the light of love, he thought he’d at least be getting a decent place to live.
But, no. Living well in humble dwellings and all, it’s apparently against The Boss’s Will for him to get a decent-paying job or anything of the like. So, along with being stuck alone for centuries on end, he also is stuck in living in apartments that barely pass as livable… forever… with no hope of ever bettering his own quality of life…
This assignment’s the worst , Kihyun thinks sullenly as he steps into the elevator. He jabs his thumb against the button for floor fourteen, quite possibly the draftiest floor in the building, and watches as the chipped needle slowly but surely inches its way around the numbered half-dial. When it reaches his floor, he eagerly steps off the rickety compartment only for his nose to be filled with the smell of mothballs.
He sighs in annoyance at the smell, pushing it to the back of his mind as he skulks down the hall. He pulls his keys free when he reaches the fifth door on the right, unlocking it before dropping the set of jingling pieces of metal into the nearby bowl. He pauses at the door to slip out of his shoes and finds a crystal glass of red waiting for him when he turns around.
“Welcome home, roomie,” Minhyuk, the other poor schmuck sent on this assignment, is smiling at him and blinking unevenly, a typical greeting home. Kihyun offers a halfhearted grin, taking the glass and downing it all in a single gulp. His face starts to heat up, though he feels his headache begin to ebb away, so he can’t complain. Minhyuk whistles low and long, stepping to the side to let Kihyun move towards the kitchen to refill his glass. “Tough day, huh?”
“Guess not,” Kihyun muses, clutching the neck of the bottle tightly as he nearly fills the cup all the way full. “The two I found today were pretty eager… You know how the spring season is. Everyone’s got love on the brain.” Minhyuk hums from the other room, and Kihyun catches the squeak of their couch as the other takes a seat. Kihyun begins sipping from his glass, gulping down the only somewhat-bitter liquid.
“Then why’re you already halfway through your second glass?” Minhyuk asks bluntly, causing Kihyun to pause mid-drink. He pulls the glass from his lips, shifting to peak back into the living room. Minhyuk’s smirking at him knowingly, having not even needed to look to know he was right. Kihyun purses his lips, turning to refill the glass again before going to sit next to the other cupid.
“I don’t know…” Kihyun begins as Minhyuk shifts to watch him as he speaks. “I’m just starting to get… lovesick, I guess.” He pauses to take another drink, during which Minhyuk scoffs disbelievingly.
“Kihyun,” he says, shaking his head, “don’t start this again. You get like this every year around this time… Don’t let the work get to your head. Fraternizing with the locals—”
“I know,” Kihyun interrupts, practically spitting the words in annoyance. He’s mainly annoyed at himself for even bringing it up in the first place. Minhyuk purses his lips beside him, clearly not liking being interrupted, but he doesn’t press the subject.
Kihyun knows the penalty if he’s caught. He knows the rules. He knows that, above all else, a love angel can not taste his product. A love angel can’t be in love.
Especially, God forbid, with a mortal .
Changkyun slumps into his apartment, sighing heavily as he drops his bag at the door. He barely has enough time to make it to the couch before his body gives out, running on only two hours’ sleep from the passed few days.
Thus the life of a journalist with a deadline.
His roommate, Jooheon, pokes his head in from the hallway, chewing on a mouthful of what Changkyun can only assume is dumpling. Through all their years of friendship, Changkyun’s never known the man to go a day without eating at least one.
“Long day?” Jooheon asks, and Changkyun feels the couch slump as his roommate joins him on the couch. Changkyun nods, the best reply he can give in the moment. Jooheon hums, swallowing his mouthful before going on.
“You know, summer is coming up… and you could use a break.”
“If only my boss would give me one, hyung,” Changkyun says in reply. Jooheon sighs loudly, shoving Changkyun playfully before continuing.
“You could ask for time off if you wanted,” Jooheon insists. “Come with me and the guys next weekend to the beach… It’ll be fun! You could even find a sexy distraction while you’re there!” Changkyun muffles his own whines into the throw pillow. He doesn’t remember the last time he’s gone out of town, or had any semblance of a break before…
“Just think about it, yeah?” Jooheon keeps on. “It’ll be good for you.”
“I don’t need anyone, Heon,” Changkyun argues. “I’m perfectly happy—”
“ Even if you don’t get a hookup, it’ll be good for you to get away.”
Changkyun looks over his shoulder then in annoyance at how persistent his roommate is being, and Jooheon only smirks in silent response. Changkyun groans, rolling his eyes.
“Fine,” he grumbles, shoving his face back into the pillow in his arms. Jooheon cheers, slaps Changkyun on the back, and assures the younger he’ll be holding him to it. Changkyun gives a short reply before Jooheon hurries off to tell their other friends the good news.
Changkyun remains on the couch, already regretting his decision.
tales from the underground ( 2 / ? )
summary: someone approaches changki about an audition. word count: 907
seoul, south korea // june 2010
changki steps off the stage, the feeling of winning his latest battle coursing through his veins. his friends waited for him off stage, greeting him with praises. changki laughs, as his friends diss his opponent. their small celebration is cut short when one of the older rappers appears next to changki.
“there’s someone looking for you,” they tell changki. they point over to the bar, where a woman stands scrolling through her phone. changki has never seen her before, he furrowed his eyebrows together in confusion. “who?” he asks, everyone that changki knew was with him. the elder gives him a shrug, “they wanted to talk to you. that’s all i was told.” changki nods and makes his way towards the woman at the bar.
the woman looks up right as changki is approaching her. she smiles, “i’m with bc entertainment. your name is yoo changki, right?” the older woman asks him as she holds out her hand. she has to yell slightly over the music of the club. changki shakes her hand warily and nods, “yeah that’s me.” why would someone from an entertainment company be here, out of all places?
“we’re currently scouting for new trainees,” she says answering changki’s unvoiced question. “this place is a breeding ground for talent. talent such as yourself.”
she smiles, “you have potential.. potential to a be an idol. i’m here to offer you an audition. you could do great things with us.” changki lets out a laugh, “don’t you just pick the one guy who can’t sing well as your rapper? why me?” the woman looks taken back at changki’s remark, but she smiles again, “not usually, but we need raw talent. from what i saw on stage tonight, you’re a natural. we want that. give me call within the week, if you don’t, i’m assuming you don’t want an audition.” she holds out a business card, changki takes it into his hand and examines it. before changki can say anything else, she’s gone.
-
changki thought that exchange was a weird hallucination, but the small card served to remind him that it really happened.
changki spends the next few days weighing his options. changki walks to one of his favorite spots in the nearby park. he finds an empty bench and twirls the business card in his hands. the underground was all that changki knew. it was his home. despite the fact that he was basically a homeless teenager, he was happy. his living situation wasn’t ideal and he hated sleeping on empty stomach, but he had found his own inner circle of people he trusted.  if he were to become a trainee, he would have to leave for god knows how long. even if he did manage to debut, would the underground still take him back? would his friends still look at him the same? he’s heard some rappers, his hyungs, insult those who go mainstream.
changki wanted to make it big, be a famous artist. live in luxury, not having to worry about if he was going to make it through the night. that’s what he dreamed of, and this could be his step towards it. changki saw how artists in the underground struggled to find success. rarely did someone managed to become famous on their own. after a few years, some rappers would give up on their music and succumb to the drugs or alcohol to heal themselves.
“you deserve better than this, ki.”
changki can hear daewon’s voice in his head. changki looks up to the sky above him. he sighs and can feel his eyes fill with tears, “i need help hyung. what should i do?” he asks into the empty air.
changki imagined daewon would push him to audition.
if he managed to make it, if he debuted and became successful, he could have the resources to solve daewon’s murder. a small part of him reminds him that even if he did make it, it would take years for him to get to that point, even then changki couldn’t guarantee his fame.
but he would do anything to know who took his brother away from him. if there was anything he wanted more from life, it was this. he wanted daewon’s death to be solved, to give himself and brother peace. his parents had given on up on daewon, but changki wouldn’t.
“i’ll make you proud, hyung.” changki whispers to the sky.
-
once he’s back at the club, he uses the phone to call the number on the card. his hands shake as he presses each number. he brings the phone to his ear and waits as it rings. changki almost talks himself out of it, but a voice finally answers.
“thank you for calling bc entertainment, how i can help you?” the female voice says with cheerful tone. changki realizes it’s the woman who spoke with him the other day. changki can’t bring himself to speak for a moment, but he gathers himself and takes a deep breath.
“my name is, uh, yoo changki,” he says nervously. before he can continue the woman on cuts him off, “ah, changki. thank you for calling me back.” she waste no time in waiting for his response and continues, “let’s get you scheduled for an audition. i have an opening on june twenty-second around two p.m, how does that sound?”
changki laughs, he would have to audition on his birthday.
“that sounds perfect.”
Character(s): Reader X Changkyun, bestfriend!jooheon
Genre: fluff, borderline!crack
Warning(s): scientist!changkyun (is that a warning), online dating, bad humor
Length: 3.2k
Summary: In which your best friend sets you up for an online dating site and maybe it’s not so bad when you meet a  scientist by the name of Lim Changkyun.
There’s a reason you don’t let Jooheon touch your laptop. Aside from the porn sites (and the numerous viruses acquired from them) he’s not to be trusted alone. You’ve known this since the third grade when he came over for a playdate and ended up drinking a bottle of Elmer’s glue while you went to the bathroom because he was too shy to ask for water.
He can’t be trusted.
So when he comes over a lazy Sunday morning and props his feet up your coffee, pressing his fingertips together as a slow smile stretches across his face, you know something must be up.
“You did WHAT?” You scream, the mug of tea in your hands slipping through unsteady fingers and dripping onto your clean rug. Not that you even notice, what with how much your eye is twitching and your fists are clenching, because goddamnit Lee Jooheon is not to be trusted.
“I signed you up,” he breathes, eyes sparkling with excitement, “for a dating site!” He claps gleefully as he finishes his sentence, dimples deep and smile wide.
You rake your hand through your hair in frustration, eyebrows snapping together. “Why would you do–”
“Because you’re turning into one of those old cat ladies, but with dogs,” Jooheon explains, smile still wide, “and it’s turning you into a real meanie so I think you should get out there.” He furrows his eyebrows for a second and rubs his chin. “Get laid,” he adds as an afterthought.
You glare at him, teeth gritted. “I am perfectly fine being single.”
“Maybe you should try to mingle,” he replies, eyebrows waggling.
Jooheon pulls out his phone, clicking through the fifty tabs he has pulled up on his internet browser.
“So I was looking up porn on your laptop when I came over last week–”
“I told you to stop doing that!”
“–and I saw all the pictures of your dogs that you have saved as your wallpaper and I realized you live a sad, sad life–”
“It’s not sad! I like my dogs!”
Jooheon stops talking, rolling his eyes and shooting you an incredulous look.
“You named one of them Doggo.”
“It’s a good name!”
He wrinkles his nose and drops his phone onto the sofa, crossing his arms over his chest. “It’s a dog and you named it Doggo and you named the other Pupper.”
“Get out of my house.”
Jooheon cackles and scooches closer, nuzzling into your arm, phone back in his grip. “You love me. Moving on, I made an account for you and you’re going to fill your profile in with me or I’m setting you up with Son Hyunwoo from Human Resources.”
You groan, head tipping back to rest on the back of your sofa. Son Hyunwoo is . . . interesting. He once thought the fire alarm in the break room was broken so he set the Hoseok’s cactus on fire to test it. It resulted in the entire office having to deal with a forced evacuation and coming back to the smell of burning cactus and smoke that continues to linger in the air seven months later.
Hoseok held a funeral in the parking lot and cried for two months over the loss, and to this day, he still sniffles every time he sees the corner it used to sit in. Hyunwoo is interesting.
“I’m not going to date Hyunwoo,” you groan, picking at your nails.
“Then let’s get your profile going!” He exclaims, doing a little jig where he sits.
“No, you can’t make me–”
“I used your credit card.”
Your eyebrows shoot up, anger flaring. “You what? How did you even get that?”
Jooheon scuttles to the other end of the couch, hands raised defensively and tosses his phone towards you.
“Woah, man, I’m just trying to help my best friend get laid.”
“Yeah, and you might die before you get to see it happen.”
“Look,” he sighs, grimacing a little as he tries to force a smile on his face, “I think it would help if you just loosened up a bit–”
“Get. Out.” You fling the phone back at him and stand. “I’m cancelling the account so get out, loser. I never want to see you again.”
Jooheon groans and stands, brushing imaginary crumbs off his pants. “You haven’t heard the last of this,” he says, pointing a finger at your face. And with that, he stalks out the door, whistling and swinging his hips.
Unfortunately, it turns out that Jooheon was more or less right. Monday night finds you sitting cross legged on your bed, scrolling through the dating website, singlesmingle.com of all names. You had originally logged on to figure out how to cancel an account but two little pings echo in your silent room when you sign in and it peaks your interest.
The little message box in the corner has a little red bubble in the corner and you wrestle with the decision of clicking on it for a good five minutes before you cave. When you open the page, two users pop up.
Your options are limited to science_is_my_kokoro and hamsta-luv.
The next three minutes are spent with you wondering what kind of fucking website Lee Jooheon signed you up for.
The first message, from hamsta-luv, is creepy, for lack of a better word. It consists of a single smiley face and a tongue emoji. You slowly click the block button next to his username.
The second message is decidedly less creepy, a simple ‘sup’, from science_is_my_kokoro. When you click on his user name, it redirects to his profile page and your eyes flit over his bio as you hunt for a picture, clicking on the read more tab.
His profile picture pops up and for a second you stop breathing and the room starts spinning because good lord this man is gorgeous.
He’s wearing a white lab coat, round glasses perched low on the bride of his nose as he flashes a tight smile at someone behind the camera, dimples deep and eyes sparkling. Your breath hitches as you scroll through his photo album, lips curving into a smile when you find a picture of him cuddling a golden retriever and another one of him sitting in a park, legs wrapped around a tree. You find yourself shaking your head, staring at his photos for who knows how long because what is someone this attractive doing on a dating website and why is he talking to you of all people. It takes a good ten minutes before you can finally calm your heart rate, clicking on the back button and searching for his profile.
This time you properly read his bio, searching for any signs that he may be one of those creepy men you hear about in the news.
I am what I.M, bro. You and I, we fit together like the sticky ends of recombinant DNA.  Interests: science, dogs, dog videos, the periodic table of elements.
It’s childish but cute and you can’t help the spark of curiosity that blooms in your chest, prompts you to wonder too many ‘what if’ scenarios. What if he’s not a creepy stalker and what if he really likes your dogs and what if he lets you poke his dimples and–
You inhale shakily and click on his name again, slowly typing out ‘hi’ into the message box. Your eyes read over the message eighteen times to make sure you haven’t somehow misspelled it and you click send, wincing when a whoosh sounds from your laptop.
And then you wait, fingers drumming nervously on your laptop. As you wait, you go to your own profile. What you find there nearly has you flinging your laptop at the wall, already prepared to hunt down Jooheon and strangle him, because what kind of friend does this.
Henlo~ I’m h0t trust me date me im mean 2 my frendos but not 2 my luhvurs Interests: eating, sleeping, hitting people (even my super sweet best friend), and doggos
The profile picture he has set is of the one your mom took of you during halloween in the seventh grade and you’re wearing a giant pumpkin costume with a green stem on your head, braces flashing unattractively in the camera.
Lee Jooheon is not to be trusted.
You’ve spent the last few minutes, kicking at your sheets in frustration and clawing out your hair because you’re doomed there’s no way this cute boy is going to think you’re normal and now you’ll never know–
A loud ping! sounds from your laptop and you nearly fall off the bed as you scramble, squinting at the screen and clicking on the notification above the messages.
From: science_is_my_kokoro
What’s up?
You choke.
Jooheon barges into your apartment the next evening, swinging a bag of beer in his hand and yelling something about ‘best friends night!’ You wave your hand dismissively at him as you continue clacking away at your laptop.
Turns out, science_is_my_kokoro is a cute laboratory geneticist who’s also been roped into this website by a friend and goes by the name of Changkyun. You spent all last night talking to him, first polite and stiff, but as the night wore on, he grew more and more relaxed, eventually spamming you with nine smileys and messages with very poor grammar.
Your conversations consisted of random topics, mostly dogs at first. Changkyun sent you three dog videos and you sent him pictures of Pupper and Doggo. He didn’t hesitate to immediately tease you over the name choice, snarky comments and sassy jokes, but you find that it doesn’t annoy you as much when he does it.
“Hey!” Jooheon whines, poking your shoulder and pouting. “Why’re you ignoring me?”
“Wait. I’m doing something.”
He props his chin up on your shoulder, tilting his head to eye the screen, and out of the corner of your eye you watch as his mouth drops open, a gasp slipping past his lips.
“YOU’RE USING IT? YOU’RE ACTUALLY USING IT?” He asks, voice too loud in your apartment as he lifts his head off your shoulder.
You turn your head slowly to glare at him, hissing, “Why are you screaming? Are you trying to make sure I wind up with a noise complaint?”
Jooheon recoils, clearing his throat, “Right. Sorry. But you’re actually using it!” He squeals the last sentence, body writhing in some strange rendition of a happy dance.
You roll your eyes and look back down at your laptop, lips curving into a smile when Changkyun sends you another message, something about having to study beetles for work.
Jooheon hooks his chin on the screen of your laptop and pouts. “Stop ignoring me. I’m your best friend.”
“Fuck off,” you respond, not bothering to look up at him as you blindly reach over to crack open a can of beer, patting the space next to you and handing him the tv remote. It takes a few more pokes from him for you to close your laptop and finally stop messaging Changkyun.
A week later, you both exchange phone numbers, because lugging around you laptop to talk whenever you’re out off the house is annoying, especially since it requires you hunting down a place with wifi and hogging it just so you can exchange a few words with him. He’s cute, texts you random things during the day, pictures of things that reminded him of you and questions about what kind of cereal he should buy.
You both stay up late nights, rolling around bed and sending each other cheesy texts and sometimes Jooheon comes over with beer and offers to set you up with Hyunwoo because you still haven’t met up with Changkyun.
“I just–” he sighs, rubbing a hand over his face and taking a swig from his can of beer, “I just want you to get laid already, man.”
“Yes, thank you very much Jooheon.” But also you agree, because Changkyun has really nice hands and lips and sometimes he sends you selfies and you can see his dimples and–
You might be in over your head.
In three months, locations are exchanged and, as fate would have it, it turns out you both live in the same city, nearly in the same area. He tells you of a cafe three blocks away, one that has a park next to it that he likes to take his dogs to and you both decide to meet up for coffee.
It’s just coffee.
But then he goes to sleep and a funny sort of panic settles in your gut and you spend the next hour rifling through your closet in search of an outfit. You wind up sitting in a pile of skirts and flowy blouses, frantic thoughts rushing through your mind because what if he doesn’t like you or thinks you aren’t cute or he’s actually a fifty year old pervert who lives in his parents’ basement.
It’s how Jooheon finds you in the morning, curled up in a heap of clothes at the foot of your bed.
“How adorable,” he chimes, clapping his hands, “my sweet little bumblebee all grown up and ready to go out and get laid!”
“I can’t meet him!” You wail, “He’s never gonna like me!”
Jooheon rolls his eyes and pushes you into the bathroom. “You’re going.”
“But–”
“You’re going.”
And that’s how you end up standing outside the cafe in an itchy pink skirt and a loose white blouse. You clear your throat, steeling your nerves as you walk through the door, and you’re not exactly sure what you’re expecting, but the man with the familiar dimples sitting three tables down in a blue button up and black jeans is damn cute and he’s smiling at you and oh god–
“Ch–Changkyun,” you squeak, awkwardly waving as you stumble towards the table.
“Hey,” he responds, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose as he stands, nearly knocking over the kid standing behind him. He apologizes profusely to both the kid and her mother, who both send him irritated glares before stalking out the cafe. “You look nicer than that picture of you in your profile,” he says sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck and smiling.
You laugh, sliding into the seat across from him, “I would hope so, I was only twelve in that picture.” Stupid fucking dating website that won’t let you change your primary profile picture.
“It was cute,” he snickers, propping his chin up in his palm, elbow resting on the table. “I ordered us a vanilla milkshake because I’m pretty sure out said it’s you favorite.”
That was back when you were both first talking, about three months ago.
He hums, turning his head to look at the counter like it isn’t a big deal (it is).
“Do you remember mine?” He prompts shifting his gaze back to you and tilting his head.
“Strawberry shortcake,” you respond without hesitation, fingers coming up to splay across the table top.
He grins and you nearly keel over at the sight of his dimples. “Correct, m’lady!”
When the milkshake shows up, you’re surprised to see there’s only one on the tray.
“You didn’t order one?” You ask, eyebrows scrunched together.
“I did,” he replies with a grin, sticking two straws into the glass. He shoots finger guns at you and winks.
Oh.
You can’t tell if this is moving fast, but when he pushes the glass towards you, eyebrows raised, you find that you really don’t care.
So you lean forward, lips closing around the straw, and reenact all the cheesy summer teen movies you’ve seen, starry eyed and coquettish.
He leans forward, too, and he’s so close you forget exactly how to drink and he smells woodsy, with hints of sugar, like warm naps and fireplaces.
“I’ve wanted to try something,” he announces when you both leans back in your seats.
“What?”
“The woes of onlines dating do not allow me to do so” he sighs mournfully, shaking his head.
“What?”
“Whatever,” he says, jaw setting in determination, “I’m doing it.”
You’ve never been more confused.
“You’ve got a little something there,” he says, pointing at your upper lip. Your eyebrows furrow in confusion because you’ve been drinking from a straw and there’s no way there something on your face.
Changkyun fixes his gaze on you and licks his thumb, leaning over the table to swipe it across your upper lip. You shoot him a bewildered look pulling your head back in confusion.
“What are you doing?” You ask. “We’re using straws, Changkyun, there’s nothing on my face.”
His cool expression melts into a pout and he whines, voice lilting, “Just–okay? I haven’t been able to do anything cutesy because we met online and all I can do is send you memes and hope you laugh!”
Your head tilts back and you laugh, nervousness melting away as Changkyun brings a sense of comfort, of familiarity. He cracks a smile and tries to intertwine your fingers on the table because he ‘saw it in a drama once and it’s cute!’ but you only double over in laughter.
You both leave the cafe ten minutes later because he has a new shipment of beetles coming in and you have filing to get to, but he walks you back home and little butterflies flap in your stomach.
“So,” he says, standing in front of your apartment building, hands stuffed in his pockets. “I enjoyed this.”
“So did I,” you reply, fingers clutching the strap of your purse and you hiccup when he takes a step forward breath fanning over your lips. “Y’know I don’t usually kiss people on the first date.”
He takes step back and furrows his brows. “Oh.”
“But in this case,” you continue, a small smile blooming across your face, “I think I’m willing to make an exception.”
He grins and steps forward again, but this time there’s uncertainty behind his eyes, like he’s scared of doing something wrong.
You both stare at each other for what seems like eternity before his jaw sets in determination and he blurts out, “I’m going to kiss you now, okay?”
You haven’t dated in a while, but you’re pretty sure that’s a fairly unromantic thing to say. It doesn’t matter, though, because when he leans forward and presses his lips to yours, you find that you quite enjoy this feeling. Changkyun’s hands press against the small of your back, drawing you closer and you wrap your arms over his shoulders, fingers playing at the little hairs on the nape of his neck. He tastes like evening walks at the park and fireworks on the river and everything fades into the background as he tilts his head, lips moving softly over yours.
His lips feel better than they look, you note mindlessly, tracing the back of his neck with your fingers.
“So,” he breathes when you both pull apart, pressing his forehead against yours, “are we dating now?”
You gurgle back a mess of cracked syllables and broken words and nod, pulling him in for a second kiss because Lim Changkyun makes butterflies flutter in your stomach and makes your breath hitch.
So maybe, just maybe, you can learn to trust Jooheon a little bit.
my thoughts on all the changkyun ships
Changki: It’s like¿so real?? lmao I mean like Kihyun takes gOOD care of kkung and let’s him get away with being a lil shit sometimes and he’s always thinking about him and worrying about him and he’s just really motherly and loving and he always babies him,, like he does shit for him that he probably wouldn’t do for Jooheon or Hyunwoo or any other member really (even wonho fight me) not to mention he’s aLWAYS fucking laughing at whatever kkung is saying and doing bc that boy just brings him so much joy and he has that lil smile when he’s looking at kkung that’s just so pure and loving, I don’t even gotta show a pic u kno what smile I’m talkin about
Jookyun: okay we all know Jooheon is The Baby™ bUT changgyun is Jooheon’s baby. Like Jooheon gets coddled a lot by everyone but he just elevates ck to another level by always calling him cute all the time and openly adoring him and taking care of him ,,And he’s like really proud of kkung and how close they are,, plus he just looks at changkyun so preciously like he finally has something to protect and take care of and I’m crying
Hyungkyun: hw is just like,, you don’t even notice it right away but he’s so protective?¿?? at any given moment no matter where they are and what they’re doing hw is probably near him and watching out for him and he is literally ALWAYS hanging onto kkung and touching him and he’s not really that clingy and touchy-feely with the other members imo??¿ he’s just always silently making sure kkung is okay like how many times have you seen him lookin like a straight up bodyguard following kkung around or standing with him like he’ll fuckin suplex a bitch if they get too close??? he also does that thing where he just stares at ck and waits for ck to look at him and when he does he just smiles all loving and encouraging and it’s the sweetest thing
Wonkyun: I crie bc Hoseok is always just sO hAPPY when ck is with him and you can just tell he thinks kkung is so cute and precious, ,he would probably give his LIFE for that boy at any given moment and he’s so devoted and loving and he’s kind of like Kihyun in that he’s always worrying about him ?¿and thinking about him¿ need I remind you he also relies on kkung a lot for emotional support and comfort so he sees kkung as kind of a safe place too???and they like need each other to function???help me
Showkyun: appa bear Hyunwoo is whipped af I mean he literally never has anything bad to say about kkung like have you ever seen him gush about how fucking talented and mature and charming and cool changkyn is and while he’s doing that he gets that stupid fond look on his face plus he just leTS kkung do shit to him like bite him and smack his ass granted he doesn’t get mad at any of the members anyways but with kkung it feels so father-son like u kno??? and he just kind of silently protects and watches over him?a lot of the time?¿and kkung isn’t like scared of him but respects his authority and they have this mutual admiration and adoration kind of relationship where they just love each other so much?? and u can tell Hyunwoo thinks he’s so cute bc he’s so much younger idk I’m whipped too probably
Minkyun: mh and hyungwon have a lot in common bc minhyuk is always kind of hovering protectively around ck and taking care of him and he’s rEALL clingy,, and it almost doesn’t feel like fanservice sometimes it feels really pure like “hyung thinks you’re so cute hyung just wants to hug u and kiss u” you know ? he just looks at kkung with so much adoration in his eyes,, he also tries to bring kkung out of his shell and he’s really encouraging and supportive when kkung tries something new or soemthing he’s not confident in!?!¿ he’s just kkung’s biggest hypeman and he laughs at everything kkung does and says and he just genuinely enjoys kkung’s humor and the way he is as a person and it’s so beautiful
Fulfilled by @kchiza ! Thanks as always for fulfilling a request! :D <3
Sweats were running through his back when he decided to take a break. Lifting his gaze, he realised the beautiful sunset has turned into a deep darkness. It must be pretty late but time has no exact concept these days. He just need to sprint all the way, running for his own dream by learning how to let go. Guilt and success don’t go hand in hand, do they? He sat on the floor, trying to gain his composure one more time before going back to his practise.
"Hyung...?" A familiar voice that he rather not to hear at this moment. Truth to be told, he was pissed with it all but it would be unfair to lash it out to anyone. The only thing he can change is himself, thus his tremendous effort to keep on practising late tonight. He hummed a response.
"Shownu hyung, you… okay?" The younger guy walked in the practise room timidly, keeping himself close to the wall rather than approaching Shownu.
“Yes, Kihyun. What do you need?” Kihyun threw his gaze everywhere but on the older guy. His hands were shaking as he grew anxious by seconds. Fear and guilt were suffocating him. He gathered his courage and let out a shaky breath.
"I think it is only right for me to apologise." The statement was enough to attract attention from Shownu.
"For what?" Gulping down some water, his eyes were on Kihyun.
"For choosing the song despite you saying it might be hard for you. For not doing well enough. For still winning the mission despite being criticised as the worst stage ever. I mean, I don't deserve this. This is hard. You left right after Kwangji and Yoosu left us, I can't help but to think...that you are mad."
Okay, honesty is key. Not too bad. He felt himself relaxed and decided to console the other guy a little bit. After all, don’t they all feel too much pressure already? Misunderstanding and bad relationship will just have drained all of them. He turned his back to the younger to look reluctant, to show that the competition, the mission or even the elimination did not bother him at all. He need to show that it was nothing for him so the younger would feel better.
"It's my fault. I didn't practise enough. Like what the judges said, I’m bad with mind control and that backlash our performance. Nothing to do with you. So, no worries." Shownu turned the music on, a hint for Kihyun to go out.
"If you say so." Kihyun sounded defeated and left. Shownu was dumbfounded. He intended to console the guy with the only way he knew but it must be a wrong move. Shownu try to shake it off his head and continue with his practise.
Of course, it was hard when the judges decided that it was him rather than Kihyun that deserved to face elimination. It was harder when they lined up in front of everyone, with their fate being decided by the judges. The hardest? The guilt because when he was about to feel relieved, two of his comrades are trying hard not to cry while their dreams crumbled down as if their efforts were nothing. Everything was pissing him off. Why can't the company let them debut together? Maybe as 2 group of 6? Tweak the concept JYP once use a little bit and make their life similar to 2PM and 2AM sunbaenim?  Alas, those guys went through a hell of reality programme before being chosen and then split into 2 groups. That were cruel as well.
Honestly, nothing about the programme is fair. Despite him saying so many times that he did not want to work with Kihyun, the company thought that a little drama and collusion would be worth the viewer ratings. It was his future they were playing with. Pairing him with Kihyun when they really don’t fit one another. Not their singing, not their style. They are not even close to one another. Nothing is wrong with that guy, it was him and his unnecessary attention for the other since last year that set off the warning sign for himself.
Last year, Kihyun and Hyungwon joining the company has sent the trainees into a panic mode because it just meant more competition. Being the eldest, all he can hear from his fellow brothers were complaints. One is too pretty while the other one sounds too perfect. He treated all of it like passing winds until he met the pretty guy. Chae Hyungwon, the lanky pretty boy. Despite his appearance, he is rather humble and funny.  A refreshing combination, really. As time passed, he just grows fond of the younger guy. The one he can trust with his quirks.
It is a totally different story with Yoo Kihyun. Since the beginning, they never clicked. The younger seems snobbish at first, too confident at times but as time passed his real self was revealed little by little. He is as insecure as the others because despite getting many praises from the staffs, producer and seniors, he is still a trainee with no definite future. He was loud at times but would easily backed down when someone else were to step out. He is indecisive, constantly need assurance. How do Shownu knows all of this? Because he has been watching Kihyun as he found the latter intriguing. At first, he found the other guy as annoying as he is too snobbish for his liking. Then, he found out about all the small things Kihyun has been doing for everyone. Be it taking the longer route to the practise room just so he can check on everyone. How he would always take more than 3 water bottles into the practise room not for himself but for anyone who needs it. He also somehow managed to guide the boys to take turn in doing laundry according to rooms, making it easier for everyone to locate their clothes. All the little changes would go unnoticed considering their busy schedule but a man as observant as Shownu won’t miss it. As he noticed his life is getting more organised, he is attracted to the cause of it. After a short time of observing, he noticed that Kihyun has brought many good values to all of them and that just make him more interested to the younger guy.
All the time they practise for the duo mission, it was more evident that they are just too different to be together. He sincerely answered the question in the interview but was heartbroken to know that Kihyun too, choose him as the person he wishes to avoid working with. Moments like this, like when Kihyun be the greater person by coming to him to apologise is so charming that his feelings are now growing. He didn’t want to admit it, but he feels something different towards Kihyun.
He packed his bag, ready to go home now. He need to rest and come back fresher tomorrow. He was about to go down the stairs when he heard a loud scream, followed by a loud glass breaking. Shownu ran up the stairs, following the sound to the rooftop.
"KIHYUN!" He runs to Kihyun who are crying hysterically while grabbing his own ears and punching himself.
Shownu grabbed Kihyun and dragged him away from the broken bottles. He tried to stop Kihyun from crying but to no avail. He shook him hard and lastly just hug him tight, hoping Kihyun would calm down. After a few minutes, he can hear Kihyun's slightly stable breathing so he pulled away. He searched the younger's eyes, hoping to communicate. He was unsure on what is happening but this must be severe for Kihyun to have an emotional breakdown.
"You okay?" Kihyun answer with a slight nod.
"Okay, wait here." Shownu ran down the stairs and grabbed few mineral water from the practise room. He was back on the rooftop, greeted with the sight of Kihyun trying to clean up the glasses, putting them in a plastic bag. Unknowingly, a small smile crept to his mouth. This brat, always so tidy. He walked slowly towards Kihyun, being careful as possible. Kihyun looks up to him with an awkward smile.
"Sorry hyung. I'm fine. Just gonna clean this up, and then head home."
“Let me help you.” They both cleaned up the mess quietly.
"Don't tell anyone." Kihyun suddenly utter as they were riding the elevator to their dorm.
“No worries, I won’t.” Shownu smiles, assuring Kihyun whatever happened just now is going to stay between them.
"The stress is not a joke huh? Sorry if I make it worse for you." Shownu patted Kihyun's shoulder. Kihyun looks at him with a gentle smile.
"No need to say sorry hyung, I deserved it."
"No you don't."
"Thanks for the kind words, and for being there with me."
They both walked in the dorm, splitting in the hallway with a secret they sworn to keep.
                                                                                          ~
They are all busy preparing for the next mission. A group mission, 5 vs 5. He is now No.8 but was given the honour to be the leader. He wants to do his best for all of them but things are not going that well. Sipping on the beer, he wishes he can let go of the stress even a little bit of it.
"I guess we are both too stressed out huh?" He looks back with a smile on his face. His friend is here.
"Yes, leaders huh?" Wonho walks to him with a plastic bag. He shoots his eyebrow up in confusion.
"That's a lot of beer for one person."
"I know I'll see you here so I grabbed few extras. But I see you help yourself already."
Shownu lifts his can of beer, "My first today. Could use a second or third."
They sat and talked, consoling one another.
"Hey, sorry for disturbing but Wonho hyung...Gunhee need your help. He wants to practise his dancing and everyone else has gone home. Can't say I'm much of a help." Wonho laugh at the last comment and waved Kihyun to come closer. Kihyun joined them and sat.
"I'll go now. So Kihyun, help me finish up the beers together with Shownu huh? See you guys." Wonho ran to the door and waved to them.
"Hey, Shownu, don't get too stressed out. And Kihyun, help cheer Shownu up...like you always help me." He then disappeared behind the doors.
“I wish he would relax a little bit, his voice is harsher these days. He going to hurt himself at this rate.” Shownu’s voice are filled with concerned.
“Didn’t expect that at all.” Kihyun let out a small chuckle.
“What?” Shownu looked that Kihyun, confused.
“Despite the way you carry yourself, the quiet guy who seems to be uninterested, you are actually a very caring guy, hyung.”
“Thanks?” Shownu’s heart skipped a beat, unable to control his excitement when his crush is talking about him, to him. A compliment, a good one as well.
After a few minutes, Kihyun gulped down his beer and stood.
"Don't take this the wrong way, hyung. But I'll go and save us both from the embarassment or awkwardness." Shownu looked at him, bewildered by his comment.
“You are just too nice to say it but I know how we are awkward around one another. I’ll let you take your time here, relaxing and forgetting about your burden at least for few more hours. I won’t be disturbing you. Bye!” Kihyun walked towards the door and the defeated Shownu was about to lay on the floor when Kihyun called out his name. He turned and was greeted by Kihyun’s sweetest smile. His heart is going wild.
“Hyung, don’t get too stressed out. You can do this. Rest well today and come back better tomorrow. Night, hyung.” He watched as Kihyun disappeared behind the door.
Shownu chuckle as he replays what Kihyun said to him. Actually, Kihyun need to rest well too. That dude takes care of others too much, he is left with no energy to take care of himself. Before this, Kwangji was here. Kwangji took care of the maknae line quite well while all Kihyun do is take care of the dorm. Nowadays, he took upon himself to fulfil the emptiness left by Kwangji. He would run around, making sure everyone is comfortable. Cooking and cleaning up. Not that he does it all the time but most members admit he do it the best. Yes, Hyungwon would cook the ramen sometimes but dinner would include most of them gagging before actually eating. He, himself help to keep their clothes at the right place as well but he never really folds them. There are too many of them, the mess will keep coming back. No use to try and clean. That is his logic but apparently Kihyun have a different stand around this issue. Not only that, Kihyun is very good at comforting others. Wish he could use all of that energy to take care of himself.
However, he noticed how Kihyun is always extra careful around him. He restricted his jokes towards Shownu. He never initiates a conversation unless necessary. Deep down, Shownu knew that Kihyun is not comfortable being close to him. The truth hurts because he wishes for a chance, to know the younger better. However, the chance would never come. Like today, when they are finally alone, Kihyun decided to snatch that away from him. And that is enough hints for him to know that it is impossible for him to be closer to Kihyun, not to mention having him as someone special in his life. Dream on, Shownu… but you will never get it.
~
The judges just announce that his team lost. And one of them is going to go home. Guilt flushed in his body. He could have done better. Choose something better. Be a little bit better. He promised them they going to win, no he promised they won't go home. He can't lift his head.
It was time and K.Will sunbaenim announced that Minkyun is going home and that just broke all the hearts in the room. No one moves, as if it is impossible to send a member away. Minkyun turned to face the other members but no one have the heart to bid him goodbye.
~
They are getting a free dinner, except for Minkyun. It is supposed to be celebratory dinner so Minkyun need to stay back. Everyone was reluctant to go, leaving Minkyun alone but the staff ensure them that they will have time to spend with Minkyun after the dinner as the guy would be leaving tomorrow morning. After last night, everyone decided to sleep at the living room. Bundled up against one another, everyone wanted to sleep with Minkyun. No one want to be apart from one another. If there is one thing Shownu is grateful from the competition, it would be their friendship - their brotherhood. After saying goodbye to Minkyun, they walked out of the dorm. Kihyun was the last to go out as he shouted to Minkyun to be good and that they'll be home in few hours. Shownu watched him close the door slowly, as if he was unable to leave Minkyun alone.
At the restaurant, K.Will sunbaenim treat them to a feast. But it was a trap, because shortly after he announce the most disturbing news ever. A new trainee was joining them. After eliminateing their friends, the company dare to send a new trainee in? There were not enough rappers? Then why would they eliminate Kwangji on the first place?
Here they are, walking back into the building of their dorm while the new trainee, whatever his name was, trailing behind them. What makes thing worst is Minkyun left while they were out. They thought they can atleast say a proper goodbye to Minkyun, believing what the staff has told them. The members are just furious at this, causing them to feel more betrayed about the new arrangement. They knew the new trainee has done no wrongdoings but timing is vicious. No one have the heart to be nice to him, especially not right now. While all are sitting in the living room, the new guy is standing at the corner. He felt bad and was about to do something about it when Kihyun stands up and walked to the kitchen. But he said something to the new guy... "Go sit with others."
Even when he is mad, he still feels like he need to take care of that new guy. Warmth. That's what Kihyun is. Warmth and kindness. When the new guy joined them, they all just freeze and stop talking. Few seconds later, he decided to go find Kihyun and stepped out from the living room.
"Kihyun?" He called out the younger's name when he found the guy squatting in front of the washing machine, covering his face with his hands.
"Hey, Kihyun...you okay?" Shownu panicked, not ready to see Kihyun's desperate tears one more time. Not here, not now. Kihyun lifted his head and his face was dry. Shownu let out a relieved sigh. Kihyun let out a weak chuckle.
"I'm not crying, don't worry. Just mad that our company arranged things like this." Shownu kept quiet.
"They know we going to be mad when they send a new trainee in. And of course, we can't control our anger and now I.M is feeling bad and out of place. I can't believe they are playing with our feelings to get higher views."
"What?" Shownu can't catch up.
" Hyung, don't you get it? Having a new trainee will invoke reaction from us, also the viewers. That is what they trying to do. Create some drama. So that more are interested to watch. This-- drama is what people crave for. I feel so stupid. Like this is our dream they are playing around with. I'm so mad but I feel bad for I.M. I can't be around the others."
"I'll leave you alone, if you want." Kihyun chuckle.
“That would be nice, hyung.”
~
Tomorrow is the day that they will finally know about their future. Whether they stay as trainees or debut as an idol. Shownu walked past a practise room and smiled as he heard the voices of two best friends bickering. He peeked inside, greeted by the sight of Jooheon and Gunhee hitting one another, playfully of course.
"Hey you two..." The two bestfriend were startled.
"Oh, hyung...come in." Shownu looks at Gunhee and let a smirk crept into his face.
"You said you are too tired for the practise, right? Almost die huh? Why are you still here and not sleeping in the dorm?" Jooeheon laughed.
"Making excuse at his best. He just checking my rap then we’ll head back, hyung."
"Yea, see you guys later."
Shownu went to the rooftop and was glad to see a familiar someone.
"What are you doing here?" Kihyun shot him an easy look and smile softly.
"Just thinking. About how tomorrow would be the deciding destiny for all of us. How pathetic, yet so hopeful."
"If I failed this time, I'm quitting this dream. I'll continue my dancing career, hoping to find a good crew or anything with a fat check as payment."
"You are quitting?"
"Yup, tomorrow is my last shot."
"Hyung, that's...."
They stay there, standing side by side with no words. He is not sure about Kihyun but he loves this. Maybe the quiet moment is awkward to Kihyun but not to him, it is comfortable for him. Almost like safe zone where he can just relax, be little bit more like himself. And just like that, his bravery soars up.
"Kihyun, I got something to tell you."
"What?"
"Tomorrow might be the last time we live in the same dorm, seeing each other might be a rare opportunity if my luck is not shining tomorrow..."
"Don't jinx it!" Shownu let out a weak laugh.
"Anyway, just hear me out. I think you are very nice, a good guy with a pure heart.”
“Hyung…” There was discomfort on Kihyun’s tone.
“Let me finish first. I know you find our relationship, our friendship to be awkward, unfitting. I cannot deny that but I need to admit that sometimes the awkwardness appears due to my continuous effort to bite down my feelings.” Shownu turned to face Kihyun.
“I like you, really like you. I don’t know when or how but every time you console a sad member, I wish I can console you. Because at the end of the day, you spent all your energy for others and have none left for yourself. I wish I can be there for you, a safe sanctuary for you to relax. For you to let go, because I really wish you can love yourself. If you don’t think you can do it, let me do it for you. Let me love you.”
Kihyun looked up, staring into the Shownu’s face with teary eyes.
“Hyung, I appreciate this. I really do, I am lying if I say I don’t see this coming. Sincerely, I’ve been thinking about this for so many times but I can’t. Hyung I am really sorry but we are just too different from one another. The awkwardness was more evident because each time I try to understand you, I failed. I envy Jooheon, Hyungwon or even Gunhee. They can tease you, openly. I barely talked to you. I wish I can say that I’ll take my time and think about it but, fact is, I’ve been thinking about it. Now, the answer is clear. We don’t belong together.”
Shownu stepped closer.
“Thank you for being honest. Deep down, I knew I would be rejected bu—” Kihyun steps in and kissed Shownu, not letting him to finish the sentence. The kiss was slow, a sad one. They pulled away almost at the same time, more broken than before.
“You are not being rejected, hyung. I wish I can say yes because, God, you are amazing. But hyung, I want to be as comfortable as possible with my lover and I try, gosh I try to be comfortable with you but I can’t and I hate that. I am sorry but if we do this, you are going to get hurt.”
“I understand. Thank you, really. Would you let me kiss you, a last one?”
“Yes.” Shownu stepped in, close his eyes and kiss Kihyun. A tear slipped out.
~
It’s has been 1 year since they debuted and things has been a rush. No pun intended. They are in the waiting room for Show Champion, finally getting the fried chicken. He sat down, ready to eat when I.M asked to sit beside him and eat together. I.M is now their beloved Changkyunnie, the lovely maknae. The one that all of them adore. They were asking around if they can eat now when Kihyun sat infront of him with a camera in his hand.
          “It’s for the Show Champion behind video. I’ll start recording, okay?”
They were asked to answer a question related to the song they are currently promoting, 네게만 집착해 (I’m obsessed with you) [Korean Title]// Stuck [English Title].
“What am I obsessed with? I’m obsessed with Shownu’s arm. Only those who have touched it would understand.”
The whole video was basically him being harassed by the team’s couple. With I.M biting his arm non-stop, he just let it go and play along with it all. The team’s couple, yes. Not long after the debut, Kihyun had timidly walked in his room asking for some private time.
~flashback~
“I want to tell you something. I plan to tell the others too but realised that it is only right for me to consult with you, as a leader… and since we have history.” Shownu gulped and try to relax his expression.
“What is it Kihyun? Just tell me directly. You know I can’t handle small talks.”
It was when he saw Kihyun’s pained expression that he finally catching up. Obviously, he expected this. He had been watching Kihyun all these while. He tried to ignore his feeling but it just grew and of course he lived in misery when he saw how Kihyun has grown so close to a certain someone. He once caught them staring into each other a tad bit too long for them to be just a hyung and a dongsaeng. He can feel his breath hitched as he prepared himself to hear that obvious confession from the younger guy. But the silence stretched and he knew if he waited longer, Kihyun will break into tears.
“If it is hard for you to speak up, should I guess?” Shownu offered. Kihyun looked at him with a knowing stare.
  “You and I.M? And you feel bad for me? But you want to tell the team because you feel as if you are betraying us all, by keeping to yourself?”
         “Hyung….” Kihyun break into massive tears and started to sob. Shownu watched as his body shook, unable to comfort Kihyun even with a light touch when he is barely breathing himself. Minutes passed and when Kihyun finally calmed down, Shownu stands up and walk to the door.
          “Let’s get it done today. Tell I.M to be ready for any questions from the members. Let’s tell them after the dance practise, we can head to the bar. I’ll pay for it.” Shownu stated and went out of the room.
He heads to the practise room 2 hours ahead of the others, just sitting in the room trying to calm himself. He tried his best to be well, perhaps he hoped for a change of heart. He had hope that maybe, just maybe Kihyun will fall for him one fine day. That after the time they spend together, they will eventually grow closer. After all, everyone called him the dad and Kihyun the mom of the group. Shouldn’t that mean something between them? Even when he noticed the small extra touches between the two he had hope it was mere affection. Even when the two laughed at some secret jokes, even when the two would share the water bottle and towels, even when the two prefer to sit close to one another, even after that all, he wish with his whole heart that Kihyun just found I.M to be cute and acted like a good brother. He expected it all but he was in denial that he has no time to prepare his heart for this. His cheeks are dry, no tear would come down because despite everything. He just feels hollow inside.
~
       Now here are they, after a year and he still trying hard to get over his own feeling. Things has been better because despite everything, Kihyun has been close to him. For that he is grateful, and was happy enough to live another day. Will he ever let go of his foolish feelings? No one knows, not even himself. All he knew is that every day seems more liveable because of the amazing things they are striving for, the love from the fans and the amazing brotherhood he built with members. Dating and love shall come later, he concluded. He just wants to live to his fullest, at least for now.
[Fulfilled] One Step At A Time
Prompt: Changki + Kihyun’s first time interested in a man and doesn’t know how to approach him. He’s awkward and doesn’t like skinship or “sweet words” or anything he has done before with his girlfriends – Changkyun is hurt when Kihyun rejects him but he’s patient to him.
Fulfilled by @kechahiza! Thanks as always! :D
Words: 2140
“No, I’m sorry… but I don’t know if this is the right thing…” Chnagkyun’s smile faded. All the nervousness he felt just now, the fluttering hearts and hot cheeks are long gone. He took one step back, trying to stabilise his emotion.
“Sorry, but what?” Embarrassment washes him over, now his heart is beating faster. He played back his memories about all the things that had happened between the two of them. Did he misjudge it all? Was it one-sided? He gulps and try one more time, though he notices his voice is not as firm as before.
“No… because you don’t like me? I thought, we both felt –”
“No, I know. But this is so weird to me. I am attracted to you but to start officially going out makes it something else.” Kihyun lifts his gaze to the younger guy and realises he offended him. “Oh, wait. That sound so bad. No, no, no. What I meant is that I never liked –”
“It’s okay. I get it. It was all fun and play when we flirt around but to take it to another level is just not right.”
“Yes, yes… that is what I meant. OMG thanks. I hope you won’t feel sad or anything, we can be like we used to be and just enjoy each other company.” Kihyun flashes his most charming smile, hoping that Changkyun would agree with him.
The two met 6 months ago at a café that Kihyun helps to manage. It is his cousin’s café but as his cousin owned 6 other cafés, Kihyun decided to step up and help with the branch in Soerae Village as he lives nearby. Changkyun walks in for an interview, asking for any vacancy one fine morning while admitting that he can do some part time job there. Kihyun thought it was not a bad idea at all and after a discussion with his cousin, they decided to hire Changkyun. As time passes, he realised that Changkyun is a wonderful person. Despite some age difference between them, he enjoyed the younger’s company. He found that there is no barrier between them when communicating and things just got messy one day when he felt something more towards Changkyun. He tried to brush it off but it just won’t go away. Two months ago, their relationship shifted and he must admit, he likes that guy. He never thought of the possibility of him liking a guy, not after 4 relationships with girls. Is he gay or bisexual? What are the indicators? How do he define himself? He spends weeks figuring out his sexuality, he even tried experimenting. He actually explore stuff to investigate what actually turns him on and got more confused over everything. After that he decided to let it go and just enjoy whatever he have with Changkyun. No more, no less. Exactly just like this, comfy and warm. The comfort zone. Until few minutes ago when Changkyun asked him out, everything that he planned for himself was thrown outside the window.
Weeks passed and Kihyun could feel how his relationship with Changkyun changed. Nothing too obvious but something seemed to be out of place. Their conversation is still lively but Changkyun would never started it. Even when they still talk on the phone for hours, it was him that called Changkyun. The relationship seemed fine but Changkyun never initiate anything anymore. He will only reply anything Kihyun did but he will never start something.
Curious, Kihyun send him a cute selfie this morning, telling him he feel good today as the weather is so pretty. Instead of a selfie in return, Changkyun send him the picture of his plants by his windowsill. He said the plants are as happy as Kihyun for such good weather. Last night, Kihyun drop some food to Changkyun's home as the younger’s exam are approaching and he was not working for less shift. Chnagkyun is currently studying in college while working part time so he just wishes to lift some burden and stress from the Changkyun. This morning, Changkyun gave him a muffin from the bakery across the street. It felt as if he will always return anything that Kihyun gives him (somewhat similar to the particular gesture) but never too much. As if he is just returning back a favour. The thing is, Kihyun didn’t do it as a part of a favour. It was his feelings and sincerity. He knew he messed up their relationship - heck it was not even a relationship because he is such a coward - but he need Changkyun to know that he is sincere with him. He found the other guy attractive but it just doesn’t feel right to jump into a relationship now.
Plus, he wouldn't know how to act around the other guy if they were to be a couple. It is only natural to do a lot of skinship and throwing cheesy lines to his ex-girlfriends but he can't imagine doing the same to a man. A grown-up man wo is macho and as manly as him and show none of feminie traits. Also, if they are in a relationship...who should be the girl?
These questions are bothering him. He can't just ignore the nagging feeling and let himself to rush into Changkyun's arms. Wait, does Changkyun runs to him or he should run into Changkyun's? See? Even this simple act of hugging and being affectionate would bring so much questions to him.
"Welcome. OH! OH! ayyyyy" Changkyun bright tone bring Kihyun back to reality. A customer walks in and Changkyun seems to recognise him. The stranger pulls Changkyun into a friendly hug and they started to talk. He feels his chest tightened. Is this jealousy? He raises his eyebrow and flash a smile towards Changkyun when the younger looks over to him.
"Erm, hyung. Is it okay if I take a quick break? I won't have lunch break if that helps." Changkyun’s guilty face aches his heart.
"Huh?" he just want to hear more of that voice, talking in that tone.
"Since there is not many customers now, can I be excused for a while? A very good friend is here after years and I just wish to… spend some time with him.” Changkyun is now staring at the floor, hoping for some sympathy from Kihyun. Kihyun glances towards the milky-skinned stranger. The guy waves at him with a very cute smile. Kihyun can't help but to smile back.
"Yes. Sure. Take your time and have a good talk with your friend." Kihyun pats Changkyun's shoulder and the other breaks into a wide grin. It has been awhile since Changkyun look so happy and that realisation breaks Kihyun.
"Thanks hyung. I owe you." He runs to the counter and takes off his apron in a rush. Grabbing his backpack from under the counter, he looks over to the stranger and laugh.
"Let's go Lee Joo Heon!” The stranger let out a loud laugh and ruffles Changkyun’s hair. “Ahhhh, stop it hyung!”
“So you know I’m your hyung?” they both walked out the café cheerfully.
Hyung?? Kihyun looks over to the stranger one more time. Hyung? The cute guy can pass as someone younger than Changkyun. Well, it doesn't help that Changkyun looks older than his age but he called that guy a hyung? Wait up. Why is he so happy meeting this guy? Should Kihyun be worried about it at all or…?
Brushing it all off, Kihyun walks in to the office trying to rationalise himself. Later that day, Kihyun approaches Changkyun as the younger is the only staff left after they closed the café. Another favour being returned. He insisted to stay longer as he went out for extra break earlier today.
"Who is he?" Kihyun is sipping on his chamomile tea.
"Who?" Changkyun is busy wiping all the cups.
"The guy, from this morning."
"Oh. Jooheon is his name. A very good friend of mine."
"I heard you calling him hyung. A good friend?"
"He is older but he doesn’t feel that way to me. We are more of friends but he insisted that I should call him hyung. Ridiculous.”
Changkyun breaks a wide smile and start to ramble about the history of the friendship.He met Jooheon through a friend but they clicked so well so they unexpectedly bonded a very strong friendship. When he realised he said too much, Changkyun chuckled nervously.
"Sorry. I got too excited. It just that it has been awhile since I met him and I feel happy that he is staying this time."
"Staying?"
"Yup, Hooney hyung usually travels around to work. But he is currently taking a break so he will be staying in Seoul for a while."
"Taking a break? What does he do?"
"He is a rapper. He travels a lot according to gigs that he has to attend. He is kind of famous, come to think about it."
"You are so happy. It has been awhile."
Changkyun's smile fades. "What do you mean?"
"Nothing." Kihyun walks away.
"Hyung, what is it?" Changkyun's voice drops lower, stopping Kihyun mid-track. He speaks up, still not looking at the younger.
"You sound so gloomy these days. You never call or text anymore. It always me who have to start everything. I know I messed up the thing we have between us but seeing you so happy now makes me think maybe I give the right answer to your question."
There were silence in the room. After seconds of torturing himself, Kihyun let out a sigh and starts to walk away.
"I don't want to cross any limits.” Changkyun’s voice is shaking. “You don't do relationship with guys. You can't understand what we have between us, so tell me...what should I do? All I can do is wait hyung, and this is me waiting." Kihyun turns onlt to be greeted by Changkyun’s stare, eyes full with pain.
"I can only stand here and wait. After what you said, all I can feel is pain. I try my best to act like before but who are we trying to deceive? It will never be the same. I was rejected. Someone fun enough to flirt with, but not worthy enough to be in a relationship." Changkyun chuckles but all Kihyun can hear is pain. Kihyun walks to him and pull him to a hug. Changkyun stay still.
"I am so sorry but I'm afraid and I am not sure if you can understand this weird, unfamiliar feelings I feel. I don't know what does it mean for me to be with you. Never in my life I thought about dating a guy. I can't stop this weird feeling, trying to figure things up."
Kihyun let Changkyun go and stand directly infront of him, staring into his eyes.
"I keep on thinking about what I did with my exgirlfriend and all of that doesn't sound right if I were to do it to you. I can't even hug you without trying to figure out how should we act. Should I be the female role? Or should I expext you --"
"Hyung." Kihyun stops.
"Why did you hug me,just now." Changkyun looks so serius, Kihyun gulps before answering.
"Because you are in pain and I cause it and I feel like I have to do it."
"Hyung, when you were with your girlfriends…when did you kiss them? When and why?”
"What do you mean when? I kiss them when we met…sometimes during the dates… actually, when I feel like it."
"Do you plan every behaviour and gesture to your girlfriend?"
"No, I just go with flow. I just - wait." Kihyun smiles and Changkyun clears his throat.
"I hate to break this to you, my dearest Kihyun hyung but I was in a relationship with girls too before. Then I met someone, I feel the same attraction towards that guy...but he is a man. That is when I realised, it was the person. No matter is it a she or he, if I like that person, of course I would fall into them like a fool. Like what I am feeling now.” Changkyun stare in Kihyun’s eyes for few seconds before he continues.
“We can take it slow. Don't be silly. In any relationship, you would always have to take it slow, knowing each other better. To see how far our compatibility would take us.” Changkyun take a step closer. "If the timing and mood is right, you can do anything you want." He leans in and kiss Kihyun. "Like this. Does it feel weird?"
Kihyun laugh and pull him to a deep kiss. "No, Changkyun. And I will trust you, taking one step at a time. So bear with me, will you?"
Changkyun nods and pull Kihyun into a hug.
[Fulfilled] Dirty Money
Prompt: changki mafia au! kihyun as a mafia leader and i.m as a poor student who asked for money + sex as payment
Fulfilled by Moderator M~
Words: 3854
Warnings: explicit rating, guns
AO3 Link
The first thing that Changkyun noticed after being tossed head-first onto the floor of the infamous Jwi Gang’s base was that the carpet was surprisingly soft against his face. Of course, this minor detail only passed through his mind for an instant, as he instead brought his attention back to the more pressing matter: that he was surrounded by heavily armed men and currently sprawled helplessly across their floor. Taking a deep, steadying swallow, Changkyun looked up, his eyes searching for the man he was looking for, the man who would save him.
“Who the fuck is this?” a commanding, melodic voice spoke from just beyond Changkyun’s line of sight. Rearing around the huge, gold-plated desk, was Yoo Kihyun, a man Changkyun knew only in local legend and police records to be the leader of the Jwi. He was a lot shorter than Changkyun anticipated, but what he lacked in stature, he made up for in cold, heartless stares and incredible taste in fashion. He was dressed to the nines, wearing a form-fitting, dark blue pinstripe suit with slick, pointed shoes, but in his right hand was a pistol, and all distracting thoughts flew straight out of Changkyun’s mind right then and there.
“Some kid called Im Changkyun, he just ran up to us beggin’ to see you. I think he hoped you’d lend him money or somethin’,” the grunt answered, his deep, thick voice loud beside Changkyun. Swallowing, Changkyun looked up into Mr. Yoo’s eyes, a pleading look in them. “Want us to get rid of him?” they asked, and Changkyun felt his heart stop, panic rising in his throat. The armed men along the parameter of Mr. Yoo’s office suddenly moved into action, their guns moving from their sides to aim directly at Changkyun’s head. He scrambled to get up onto his knees, his body moving towards Mr. Yoo’s with an intense desperation.
“Please sir, please! I need money, I need your help! You’re the only person I have left to ask!” Changkyun begged, and tears started falling from his eyes. “My cousin needs a surgery, and I don’t have the money to pay for it alone- you have to help us, please, sir!” Changkyun continued, hoping that by showing that he wasn’t interested in the money for selfish reasons, maybe Mr. Yoo would show a little sympathy.
Quirking a brow in interest, the mafia boss stepped closer to Changkyun, his eyes scanning over the helpless, petite boy. He looked so young, too- definitely in college, if not high school. Kihyun licked the corner of his mouth, watching the way his pretty body trembled with every little cry and shake. Honestly, Kihyun hadn’t had something this out of the ordinary happen in months, and seeing such a beautiful young man on his hands and knees right in front of him was certainly piquing Kihyun’s interest. He raised his right hand, watching the way the young man began shaking in fear.
“I’ll do anything sir, anything,” Changkyun begged, unable to look into Mr. Yoo’s eyes, too scared of seeing the gun pointed at him. He knew there was a risk coming here, he just didn’t realize how high that risk was going to be. Smirking at the display of weakness, and the deliciously vague promise, Kihyun lowered his gun.
“Anything, huh?” he asked, and Changkyun finally looked up, his innocent, dark eyes sparkling with a certain naïve charm that made Kihyun want to absolutely ravage the boy. “Fine, I’ll give you a chance,” he said, and then looked around him, gesturing for the guards to exit. “Men, get out of my sight,” Kihyun ordered, and after a chorus of ‘Yes boss’, the entire room was empty aside from Kihyun and Changkyun. Taking a few steps forward, Kihyun stood directly in front of Changkyun, his legs in a wide stance to display power and confidence.
“So kid, how are you planning on repaying your debt, huh?” Kihyun asked, watching the way Changkyun’s back straightened, as if he had been preparing for this moment for weeks.
“I’ve already applied for six different jobs, I’m going to take at least 2 of them, and within the next 3 years- I’ll be able to pay you back in full,” Changkyun confidently declared, and Kihyun hummed, starting to walk around Changkyun, circling him like a shark.
“And what about with 50% interest?” Kihyun prompted, raising his eyebrows, his gaze never leaving Changkyun’s as he circled the boy. Bristling at the comment, Changkyun swallowed, his gaze flickering down to the carpet.
“M-maybe a little bit longer with interest,” Changkyun replied, and Kihyun cackled out a hyena-like laugh, finally making it back around to Changkyun’s front, leaning his body against his desk and pulling out his gun.
“And what if I’m not willing to wait that long, sweetheart?” Kihyun asked, waggling his gun casually as he spoke. Changkyun swallowed, his eyes widening as he stared up at the intimidating man. He didn’t know what to say, shocked by the question and a bit taken by how attractive Mr. Yoo looked, his gray hair parted down the middle and greasy with hair product. He looked too young and handsome to be such a notorious criminal, and Changkyun swallowed, a bit disturbed by the fact that he still could somehow find this man handsome considering the circumstance and what he was holding in his right hand.
“You’re pretty damn cute, you know that?” Kihyun said, chuckling a bit to himself. Typically, he never gave brats money, because they never repaid him and were ungrateful- but there was something different about this kid. Something that made Kihyun want to help him out, and maybe get a little something in return. He set his gun down, eyeing the young man with a mysterious lust in his eyes- one that made a shiver run down Changkyun’s back.
“I do have one other thing to offer you for my debt,” Changkyun said, swallowing thickly, his cheeks burning at the mere thought. If he was misreading the situation, this could easily get him killed or worse. But if he was right with what he was thinking, then this could be the best way to approach the problem. Kihyun smirked, nodding his head to prompt the boy to continue.
“Go on~” Kihyun said, his fingers running down his thigh, brushing against the luxurious fibers of the tailor-made suit. Changkyun steeled himself, his heart in his throat as he replied.
“My body,” Changkyun said, his demure eyes staring straight into Kihyun’s soul. Busting out into amused laughter, the boss stared, completely impressed, down at the cocky boy kneeling on his floor.
“Really now?” Kihyun asked, wondering if the boy actually knew what he was getting into with such a statement. Swallowing, Changkyun nodded, the gesture soft and nervous.
“Y-You can do anything you want with me,” Changkyun offered, hoping he was attractive and tempting enough to get this man to fall under his spell. He was kinda running out of options here, and right now: prostituting himself was legitimately his best bet.
Kihyun hummed, thinking about his options. Honestly, the kid was only getting cash for an operation- nothing too crazy expensive, at least to Kihyun, who was currently sitting on hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gold. He licked his lip with an open mouth, staring down at the young man thoughtfully. He’d also be getting a damn good time, considering the way he was staring at Kihyun, like he was some kind of god. It was tempting, for sure.
“Sure kid, show me whatcha got,” Kihyun prompted, chuckling a bit under his breath as he watched the shock and light shine on Changkyun’s face. He looked like he just saw the second coming of Christ, and Kihyun smirked, glad that he could invoke such extreme reactions with just the smallest of phrases.
Changkyun, meanwhile, was completely frozen in shock, eyes wide and unsure of what to do now. He wasn’t going to die, at least for now, but he had to service Kihyun… the only issue was that Changkyun honestly didn’t have that much experience. He’d only had a couple boyfriends, and was definitely not that skilled. Regardless, Changkyun had a job to do. A job that could potentially cost him his life if he didn’t do it right. He swallowed, chewing on his lip adorably as he stared up into Mr. Yoo’s handsome face.
“W-what should I do for you, sir?” Changkyun asked, his body tense with nerves. He didn’t want to fuck this up, and hoped that Mr. Yoo was liking what he was seeing, because Changkyun didn’t really know what else to do without prompt. Kihyun smiled, already enjoying the obedience that Changkyun was displaying. He gestured with his index finger for Changkyun to come hither, and then walked over to his chair, sitting down with his legs spread wide.
“Suck,” Kihyun bluntly ordered, undoing the button of his expensive dress pants and languidly pulling out his cock, feeling a tiny hint of embarrassment at how he was already half-hard. Changkyun nodded eagerly, quickly scrambling to get up and then immediately kneel back at Mr. Yoo’s feet, swallowing thickly at the sight right in front of his eyes: a tough, intimidating mafia boss with his sleek, expensive suit pants open just enough for his cock to stick out- for the sole purpose of Changkyun sucking it.
Licking his lips, Changkyun drew closer to Kihyun’s body, moving a hand to grasp along the girth of the older man’s cock, embarrassment swelling up. Kihyun stared down at the boy with half-lidded eyes, watching the clearly inexperienced actions of the younger with amusement and arousal.
“Have you ever done this before?” Kihyun asked, gripping the armrests of his chair as Changkyun lightly began stroking him. Swallowing nervously, Changkyun couldn’t figure out if he should lie or not, but decided to just tell the truth, his cheeks flushing bright red as he replied.
“N-no,” Changkyun admitted, and Kihyun groaned darkly, moving his hand to rest against the back of the younger man’s head, urging him forward with his trigger finger.
“Even better,” Kihyun said, his voice complimenting and heavy with desire. Changkyun nervously flickered his gaze up into Kihyun’s eyes, startled by the intensity he was met with. Kihyun had the ferocity of a wild animal, and Changkyun was simultaneously intimidated and aroused by that sight.
Upon Kihyun’s urgings, Changkyun lowered his head, darting his tongue out to get a taste of Kihyun’s cock. Changkyun looked absolutely adorable, his little tongue lapping at Kihyun like a lollipop, but Kihyun was quickly getting impatient. He wanted Changkyun to suck, not mess around with this bullshit. Taking matters into his own hands, Kihyun shoved Changkyun’s mouth onto his cock, groaning at the feeling of Changkyun’s wet heat around him.
“Deeper,” Kihyun urged, as he was unable to force Changkyun’s mouth down any more without risking getting his cock bitten or anything worse. Changkyun had to at least get used to the feeling for a little bit on his own, so Kihyun impatiently waited.
Doing as the man asked, Changkyun began tentatively lowering his mouth bit by bit down Kihyun’s cock, fighting back the urge to gag as it hits the back of his throat. He takes it just a bit deeper, and then actually gags, feeling worry bubble up in his throat after doing so.
“You’re doing good,” Kihyun reassured him, and Changkyun nodded, quickly pulling back to thank the scary mob boss for the compliment.
“Thank you, sir,” Changkyun replied, and then immediately returned his mouth to Kihyun’s cock, quickly getting back to work. Smiling crookedly at the cute response, Kihyun exhaled slowly, content to just watch Changkyun as he returned to his slow, steady movements- mesmerized by the way his cock disappeared into the boy’s pretty mouth.
Now getting the hang of it, at least a little bit, Changkyun steadied himself, and then started sucking Kihyun up and down with a steady, fast rhythm, trying to get as much as he could each thrust. Groaning in satisfaction, Kihyun returned his hand to Changkyun’s head, pushing the boy deeper onto his cock.
“All the way,” Kihyun ordered, his cold Rolex watch brushing against Changkyun’s hair. Wanting to obey Kihyun as much as possible, Changkyun choked down the rest of Kihyun’s length, his face flushing at the low, breathy moan that followed his action. He held Kihyun in his mouth for several long seconds, until he physically couldn’t take it anymore, and pulled back in a loud gasp of air. He was about to return his mouth to Kihyun’s cock, when the older man stopped him.
“You did well, let’s do something else now,” Kihyun said, adjusting the edges of his sleeves as he stared down at Changkyun. Nodding eagerly, Changkyun moved back a little, spit dripping down his chin as he stared up into Kihyun’s eyes. “Can you bend over my desk for me? Ass in the air,” Kihyun asked, although it was honestly more like an order, and Changkyun nodded willingly, quickly standing up to do as Kihyun wanted of him.
“And pull down your pants while you’re at it, you’re not gonna need ‘em, heh,” Kihyun said, opening a desk drawer and pulling out a bottle of lube. Changkyun’s heart started pounding in his chest, and he did as he was told, slowly pulling his cheap sweatpants and briefs down until they flopped against his ankles. Watching impressedly, Kihyun smirked, his eyes roaming down Changkyun’s exposed backside. Kihyun walked around Changkyun, standing behind the boy with his hard cock still fully on display and sticking out of his fancy slacks. He admired the thick, shapely ass of the younger man, and shook his head, trying to figure out how such a sexy boy was having a hard time earning money.
“Spread you ass for me, babe,” Kihyun said, opening the lid of the lube and squirting out a few pumps onto his hand. Changkyun trembled, and he leaned forward, so that his entire body was now flush against the table.
“Are you going to penetrate me, sir?” Changkyun asked, his nerves getting the best of him. At this point, he was pretty sure Kihyun wasn’t going to kill him- and he had to sufficiently steel his nerves for (what he imagined would be) ruthless pounding. Kihyun hummed, his wet, slick fingers suddenly pressing against Changkyun’s entrance.
“Beautiful and smart? Gosh, you’re the total package, baby,” Kihyun complimented, the tip of his finger entering Changkyun’s ass fairly easily. “I’ll do it if you give me the okay,” Kihyun muttered, his voice a little softer now. Changkyun’s heart pounded, and he bit his lip, surprised with the curtesy. Briefly, Changkyun wondered if Kihyun wasn’t such a bad man after all, and, honestly- he was sexy as hell. Changkyun was truthfully rather attracted to strong, assertive men, and Kihyun was surprisingly gentle with him so far. Changkyun wasn’t really that worried about his life, even if he said no to Kihyun’s order, but he… kinda wanted to. His cock was completely stiff between his legs as it was. Might as well.
“I-I would be honored if sir fucked me,” Changkyun replied, feeling embarrassed with how much he actually meant that statement. He’d never been praised so much by another person before, and it felt so good to be lusted after like this. Changkyun lowered his head, shame washing over him. How could he let himself get to such a degraded state? Practically begging for some mob boss’ cock just so he could get money? At the feeling of Kihyun’s fingers pressing inside his entrance, however, all of Changkyun’s thoughts washed away.
“You’re so interesting,” Kihyun said, chuckling warmly. He was captivated by the strange, unexpected behavior from this boy, and wanted to see more of his sides- preferably, the side with Kihyun’s cock in his ass. But to get there, he would have to sufficiently stretch him out. He wanted this boy putty under his touches and thrusts- not screaming in pain. Inserting two fingers, Kihyun slowly started preparing Changkyun, a little surprised with how easily his fingers were going in.
“Do you touch yourself here, Changkyun-ah?” Kihyun asked, finally saying Changkyun’s name for the first time. Changkyun’s legs spread wide, his ass pressing up higher into the air- utterly embarrassed and completely turned on by the question. Fuck, was he that much of an open book?
“E-Every day,” Changkyun replied in a low, nervous voice, and Kihyun groaned, his cock twitching hard at that confession. Kihyun’s fingers started pumping inside harder and faster, knowing that Changkyun was more than used to this sensation by now.
“That’s so erotic,” Kihyun mumbled, his brain going crazy from that sudden confession. He wanted to see that- ask Changkyun to give him a little masturbation show, but his own weeping erection was distracting him a little too much. He’d definitely get Changkyun to do that for him later though.
Fingering him for a few more seconds, Kihyun added a third finger, groaning at how wet and stretched Changkyun felt- even with three fingers stuffed inside. It was something Kihyun wasn’t expecting to find so sexy, but fuck, it was sexy. He thought about how easy it would be to just slide his cock right inside, to pound the younger man against the desk he worked at every day. It was an overwhelming thought, one that Kihyun couldn’t ignore any longer.
“You ready for my cock?” Kihyun asked, and Changkyun groaned, lifting his hips up to make it that much easier for Kihyun to fuck him.
“Yes, sir,” Changkyun responded, his voice strained and tinged with deep, dark moans. Kihyun nodded, glad to see they were both just as desperate for this, and lined up his cock to Changkyun’s entrance, pressing himself completely inside with one thrust.
“W-whoa,” Kihyun stumbled out, surprised with how tight Changkyun unexpectedly felt around his cock, and Kihyun’s eyes flickered up to the back of Changkyun’s head, giving him an impressed stare.
“You’re so full of surprises, kitten,” Kihyun complimented, and Changkyun flushed at the nickname, finding himself oddly enjoy hearing Kihyun’s sweet voice call him that.
“Is that a good thing, sir?” Changkyun asked, and Kihyun chuckled, pulling his hips back and savoring the tight, constricting feeling around his cock as he did so.
“For me, it’s definitely a good thing,” Kihyun replied, groaning as he pushed his cock back inside Changkyun, starting up a rhythm. Changkyun’s cheeks heated up, and he felt pride swell from within. Glad that he was pleasing Kihyun, Changkyun pressed his ass further against Kihyun’s body, trying to get him deeper. Smacking his ass in appreciation, Kihyun smirked, loving the way Changkyun’s thick booty looked shaking on his cock.
Now that they were outright fucking on Kihyun’s desk, the temperature of the room started to crank up a notch, and Kihyun found that he was actually sweating. Careful not to damage any of his expensive clothes, Kihyun quickly took off his suit jacket, setting it neatly down onto the edge of the desk where Changkyun’s body wasn’t leaning against. He also rolled his sleeves up, exposing his strong, masculine forearms as he gripped Changkyun’s hips, pounding the boy harder and faster.
Beneath him, Changkyun was surprisingly starting to lose control, his cock now steadily dripping precum even though it hadn’t been touched once tonight. Sometimes, when Changkyun jerked off, he never actually touched his dick and was still able to cum. He’d trained himself to do that, and right now, he was actually kinda glad he did. Now he could physically show Kihyun his gratitude, in the form of his incredibly intense orgasm on the man’s cock.
“Sir--” Changkyun stuttered out, drawing the attention of the older man.
“Yes?” Kihyun asked, never ceasing his precise, hard thrusts. Changkyun slipped out a whimper, and he arched his neck down, a fine line of spit trailing out of his mouth.
“I-I’m about to cum on sir’s cock,” Changkyun warned, voice trembling. He knew he wouldn’t last much longer, especially not with how good Kihyun was pounding into him. Smiling excitedly, Kihyun picked up his pace, thrusting his cock in and out of Changkyun with a newfound energy, eager to get the boy to cum from his ass alone. Not only that, but Kihyun himself was also getting rather close to orgasming as well.
Giving his all into one last push, Kihyun pounded into Changkyun’s ass, the sound of flesh slapping against flesh loud in the room. Changkyun began moaning uncontrollably, his voice loud and needy as he came hard- squirting the hot, sticky liquid against the side of Kihyun’s incredibly luxurious desk. He could feel Kihyun still fucking him, but Changkyun’s brain was fried, uncaring as to what happened to him at this point. Behind him, Kihyun quickly pulled out, spilling his load all over the outside of Changkyun’s ass, watching the cum drip down his crack. Gasping several hot, strained moans, Kihyun came down from his orgasm, his breathing heavy from the workout.
After several seconds, Kihyun stepped away from the desk, admiring the younger boy as he trembled on his desk. Smirking, Kihyun walked around to the other side of his desk to grab a cigar from his drawer. Lighting it with a practiced grace, Kihyun took a shallow drag of the cigar, and then exhaled languidly, eyes still roaming over the half-nude form of his newest addiction. He had such a pure, innocent heart- Kihyun oddly found that he wanted it all to himself.
“Kid,” Kihyun said, startling Changkyun out of his orgasm-induced haze. He blearily looked over, still bent over the desk, and blinked nervously, curious to see what the boss had to say to him.
“I’m still gonna have to ask you to repay me in cash,” Kihyun said, taking a deeper drag of his cigar as he sat down onto his desk chair, buttoning up his pants and tucking his cock back inside. Changkyun froze, his heart pounding nervously in his ears. He didn’t dare speak- but felt a little betrayed. He honestly thought that him and Mr. Yoo had shared something a little more intimate than just thoughtless sex, and for him to fuck him over like that… well, let’s just say it kind of hurt Changkyun’s feelings.
“But don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not gonna ask you to pay me any interest. I just want you to learn the value of earning money, and paying for things the right way,” Kihyun continued, exhaling cigar smoke as he spoke, his eyes portraying a sincerity that surprised Changkyun.
“T-thank you, sir,” Changkyun replied, almost wondering why Kihyun wanted to teach him a lesson like that, but not daring to question it. Kihyun nodded, shaking his hand in a dismissive gesture at the thanks.
“I just don’t want you thinkin’ sex is a viable payment for you in the future,” Kihyun explained, his eyes turning a darker, more possessive color as he lowered his hand, his gaze burning straight into Changkyun’s heart.
“Just with me, alright babe?” <3
Kihyun pushes an annoyed breath through his teeth, scratching at the words etched into his skin. He leans back and pushes a hand through his hair as he tries to just finally finish this stupid project.
“Trouble?” his roommate, Minhyuk, asks from the doorway, quirking up a teasing brow. Kihyun grumbles in his throat, not liking that expression at all.
“What do you want, Minhyuk-ah?” is all he says, as he’s very obviously having trouble.
“Hoseok-hyung and I are meeting Hyunwoo-hyung and Wonnie at the bar tonight,” Minhyuk answers with a sigh. “You need a break, clearly, so come with us.” Kihyun opens his mouth to protest, because what he really needs is to finish this damned project, but Minhyuk holds up a silencing hand. “You’re going, no buts. Get changed, we’re leaving in twenty minutes.” He then leaves, shutting the door behind him and leaving no room for argument.
Kihyun groans exasperatedly at his roommate’s typical behavior. He tosses his photos onto the desk, having half a mind as he stands to go officially decline the invitation, but he pauses. He pouts slightly at the faint script peeking out from beneath his sleeve.
They’d been bothering him a lot lately, growing hot at the oddest of times and itching to no end. He’d heard that your words begin to act up whenever you’re close to your soulmate, but Kihyun doesn’t know how much stock there is in that. Minhyuk hadn’t felt anything like that when he’d met Hoseok … Sure, it’s different for everyone, but he can’t help but compare it to the experiences of people he actually knows.
But, with that said, something’s telling him that if he doesn’t go out with his friends tonight, he’ll regret it. He doesn’t know why exactly he feels this way. There’s just this really annoying tugging in his gut that keeps him from opening the door, one that only goes away when he begins to actually consider going with them.
He glances over at his desk with a heavy sigh of defeat, and turns away from the door to find something to wear. He swears, if he misses his deadline because of this, he’ll hold Minhyuk fully responsible.
 “Come on, Kyunnie,” Jooheon whines, dragging his roommate by the wrist down the street. Changkyun blanches at his overly sweet tone, making a retching noise in his throat and screwing up his face in quite the disgusted way. Jooheon merely chuckles at his dongsaeng’s typical reaction, and continues them down the path.
“I don’t see why I had to come with you tonight, hyung,” Changkyun complains as he pouts ever so slightly. “I’d much rather stay at home. You know I’m almost done with the boss level on that game we got the other day. You’re keeping me away from one of my best achievements to date!”
“Nonsense,” Jooheon chuckles. “You need to come out of the house every once in a while, and this is that once. Now stop arguing with your hyung and come on!”
Changkyun rolls his eyes, but can’t help but smile at his friend’s excitement. He lets up on his pulling away ever so slightly, allowing himself to be dragged to the only place Jooheon could be taking them.
After all, Jooheon doesn’t know about many places to go to in this dingy town, but he does have a couple of tricks under his sleeve… one of which being the only club worth going to within a fifty-mile radius.
 Kihyun follows his friends into the club, the pounding music and blaring lights bombarding his senses. He blinks around in the moment it takes him to adjust, and feels Minhyuk pulling him off in some direction. He’s sat down at a table, and squished in between two of his friends. Once his vision clears, he sees it’s Hyunwoo and Hyungwon.
Of course it is, because, of course, Minhyuk and Hoseok are already out grinding on the dance floor.
“Want anything, hyung?” Hyungwon shouts over the dance beat filling the air. Kihyun glances over at the menu in his dongsaeng’s hands, and shrugs at finding nothing appealing.
“I’ll just take a beer,” he replies. He stands as if to go order and pay, but the younger waves a dismissive hand at him.
“I’ll take care of it,” he tells him at Kihyun’s questioning brow. “The bartender likes me, so I can get the best discounts with minimal flirting.” Kihyun chuckles under his breath at the explanation, and gestures for Hyungwon to go work his magic. Hyungwon throws his shoulders back and holds his head high, and then slinks over towards the bar. Kihyun turns his attention towards Hyunwoo at being left alone with him, and he gives the older a classically bright smile.
“How’s life been, hyung?” he asks the older in a lighthearted tone. Out of all his friends, he speaks with Hyunwoo the least, but that’s because he’s so busy choreographing routines for idol groups. Kihyun’s honestly surprised he was able to come out tonight.
“Tiring,” Hyunwoo answers simply, his gaze staying on the dancefloor, “but fun all the same. I’m doing what I love, so I can’t really complain.” Kihyun hums in acknowledgment, and nods in understanding.
“I’ve got a huge project coming up for my last final,” Kihyun tells him, “and it’s giving me hell. I just can’t seem to find the right photos to use…”
“What’s the theme?” Hyunwoo inquires, cocking his head to the side in curiosity.
“Love,” the younger man replies, his voice falling to a low grumble as he speaks the word. His markings on his wrist begin to heat up, and he instinctively starts to scratch at them under the table. “I mean, I’ve got a lot of good photos for it, but I don’t need something good, I need something great. I need a showstopper to put me over the edge of my classmates.” Hyunwoo hums in understanding, and nods a little.
“I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for, Kihyunnie,” he assures him, earning the faintest of grins from the younger. “You always do.”
“Thanks, hyung,” Kihyun says genuinely, his heart warming at the older’s words. Hyunwoo hums again, and turns his head to give him a reassuring smile of his own. Kihyun chuckles under his breath, and reaches over to squeeze Hyunwoo’s knee gratefully.
Hyungwon suddenly emerges from the crowd, pouting a little as he retakes his seat. Kihyun raises his brow at seeing he’s emptyhanded, pursing his lips in question.
“There’s a different guy working tonight,” Hyungwon explains, understanding easily the silent message. “He’s not open to flirting whatsoever as he’s just met his soulmate, so I don’t get a discount tonight…” He throws himself back against the booth, crossing his arms and looking like a spoiled child. “This stinks,” he adds under his breath, his pout only worsening. Kihyun coos at his dongsaeng, and lifts a hand to pull teasingly at his cheek.
“I’ll get it,” he offers, and prods Hyungwon out of the booth so he can get out. The younger complies, and slings himself back into the seat only a second later. Kihyun then turns on his heel and begins making his way towards the bar, shouldering his way through the masses as he goes.
 “Go get us drinks, dongsaeng,” Jooheon instructs Changkyun immediately upon entering the bar. Changkyun opens his mouth to protest, but Jooheon holds up a silencing hand. “You’re cute, you’ll get them at a discount.”
Changkyun purses his lips and shoves his hands into his pockets, already heading to the bar. There’s no use arguing with Jooheon when he’s on a mission like this, he knows, though he has no idea why the sudden need to socialize. Jooheon had just burst into his room barely over an hour ago, announcing that they’re going out, and proceeded to drag him off. He didn’t even have a chance to respond until they were halfway here.
“What’ll you have?” the bartender asks the young man as he nears the shiny metal bar. Changkyun hums in his throat, glancing up at the menu.
“Just a couple of beers,” he answers after only a second of perusal, very much not in the mood for any sort of cocktail and highly doubting Jooheon would feel much differently. The bartender’s eyebrows raise, though seem to be focused on something behind Changkyun. He turns round to see a vaguely familiar brunette standing behind him, smiling a dazzling smile and looking a bit disheveled.
“Same,” is all he says, and the bartender nods and walks off to retrieve the beverages. Changkyun moves instinctively to allow the other room to lean against the bar, which the man seems to gladly take. They share a glance, but Changkyun nervously looks away. The scribbled writings on his hip bone suddenly begin to blaze, and he presses his lips together in order to keep from yelping out in pain.
He looks over curiously to see the stranger rubbing at his wrist, and his eyes can’t help but drift up to study the other’s face. It’s a bit chubby, but in a really cute way, and his brown hair only seems to further soften his visage.
“Have I seen you somewhere before?” Changkyun finds himself asking, having to raise his voice over the music. “I mean… you look familiar. Have I seen you around the quad, maybe?”
The stranger’s head suddenly whips around to face his, his hand on his wrist going impossibly still in under a second. His eyes seem to study Changkyun, and the man can’t help but squirm a little under the gaze. The stranger licks his lips, and his brow scrunches up in the cutest of ways.
“… But… you’re a man…”
Changkyun sucks in a breath, his words burning entirely too hot for a single second before stopping completely. He glances down in shock towards his hip, lifting up his clothes to see. The once-black writing is now a pale white, the telltale sign they’ve just been spoken. He looks back up to stare in wonder at the stranger, unable to believe what’s just happened. His heart hammers offbeat from the music, and his jaw drops open in utter shock. Only two words remain in his mind as he tries to fathom what’s just happened.
My soulmate…
[Fulfilled] Tequila-Laced Confessions
Prompt: Changki + Halloween party + bestfriends + confession
Fulfilled by Moderator ReeLee~
Words: 1115
AO3 Link (For Easier Reading)
Changkyun watches with watering eyes as Kihyun saunters off towards the kitchen to freshen up their drinks. His chest hurts and his face burns, but he isn’t stopping yet. He has to get this out tonight, one way or another. And, if that means drinking himself stupid, then so be it.
Jooheon, his roommate, suddenly pops up at his side, chuckling knowingly.
“You don’t look too good, Kkungiiie,” the older male says simply, albeit through slurred words. Changkyun glances over at him, his vision swimming ever so slightly, and a high-pitched giggle escapes his pursed lips.
“Hyuuuung, you’re shit-faced~” he teases, pushing Jooheon off him. Jooheon pouts at this, leaning closer to his ear.
“I’m taking a paaaage from your bOOk, Changkyunnniieeee,” Jooheon whispers into his ear. Or, at least, he thinks he’s whispering, but really he’s shouting about as loud as he can to be heard over the roaring blood in his own ears. Changkyun sucks in a sharp breath, his hand flying up to his lips.
“You mean you’re gonna tell hyung how you feel???” he asks surprisedly, his own shock causing him to fall back against the couch. Jooheon chuckles and nods, but then pouts again in confusion.
“Wait, which hyung?” he asks, utterly befuddled as to who the maknae could be referring. Changkyun only laughs at this, feeling it pretty obvious who he’s referencing. After all, Jooheon’s only been following one hyung around like a lost little bee for the past few weeks, and that’s Minhyuk.
“You look like you’re having fun, Jooheonney,” Kihyun comments, reappearing before the two youngest of their group with drinks in his hands. Jooheon hums, beaming from ear to ear to reveal his dimples. He stands then, wobbling a bit at first before regaining his senses and stomping off, muttering something about having to find a certain blue-haired boy. Kihyun laughs to himself, shaking his head at his dongsaeng. He retakes his seat beside Changkyun and hands him the drink, which Changkyun takes gratefully.
He drains at least half of it before he realizes it’s water he’s now drinking instead of that questionable punch from before. He raises his eyebrow questioningly, looking to the older for an explanation. Kihyun merely gives him a small smile, resting a hand atop his knee and squeezing affectionately.
“You need to pace yourself, Kyunnie,” he tells him gently. “I don’t want to have to drag your ass home across campus again, even though I will…” Changkyun’s heart swells at this, and it could be the drinks from before, but he feels himself falling for his hyung all over again.
 He’s known Kihyun for almost two years now, but he’s loved him, or has only been aware of such feelings, for the past couple months. Something about his caring nature, and how he’s so unapologetically brash when need be just did something to Changkyun that made him fall hard and fast.
Changkyun has had plenty of opportunities, mind you, to confess his true feelings. After all, they live in the same dorm building, and they’re in the same fraternity together… But, the younger man just could never find the nerves to confess to Kihyun just how he feels. He’d come up with this plan as a last-stitch effort, of sorts. Or, at least, Hyungwon had come up with it.
“You gotta just tell him how you feel already,” his lanky friend had demanded whilst they played video games only the day before. “There’s a party tomorrow night, and there’ll be plenty of booze to give you the courage to do it. You just gotta rip off the band-aid, at this point.”
 And so, here Changkyun is, about to rip off the proverbial band-aid.
His skin tingles at the gentle, familiar touch on his knee, though it could very well be from the liquor. He watches Kihyun as he curiously watches the goings-on around them, how their friends Hyunwoo and Hoseok watch everything go on from the front door. Nothing too bad ever happens at these parties thanks to those to guardians always watching over all the guests.
Orange and purple neon lights pound over the dance area, reflecting on the white streamers of ghosts hanging from the ceiling. Changkyun’s gotta hand it to Minhyuk… He sure does know how to decorate for a Halloween party last minute.
The smallest of smiles plays across the older’s face, and Changkyun’s heart beats about twenty times faster than before. He’s pretty sure he’s about to have a heart attack, or throw up… or probably both.
“Hyung,” Changkyun says, knowing it’s now or never. His blood pounds in his ears, and he’s pretty sure he’s about to vom any second now. His grip on his cup of water tightens, and he downs the rest of it to wet his drying mouth. Kihyun turns to him curiously, and raises a single brow to prompt him to go on.
“I…” the younger mutters, chewing on his bottom lip. He focuses impossibly hard on his own coherency, having to get all this out just right in his overly-inebriated state. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea, after all… “I’ve really enjoyed having you as a friend for all this time, getting closer with you… and I… I think… I know… that my feelings for you have grown to more than just friendliness.”
Kihyun chuckles under his breath, and Changkyun’s stomach drops. He’d known this would happen, but it doesn’t make the rejection any easier to handle. He kneads his bottom lip between his teeth, his gaze falling to his lap. A soft hand takes hold of his chin, though, and pulls his eyes back up to his friend.
“I know, Changkyunnie,” he tells his dongsaeng, his dazzling smile causing Changkyun’s breath to hitch, and the younger doesn’t even have time to catch it before Kihyun’s kissing him.
It tastes of tequila, lime, and cookies… and ends all too soon. Kihyun’s eyes twinkle affectionately at him, and Changkyun almost forgets there’s anyone else on the planet. All that matters is he’s just told Kihyun how he feels… and he wasn’t rejected. Hell, it was even accepted. This is the best thing to happen in his entire life!
Kihyun laughs breathily, and only pulls Changkyun closer to himself.
“Lie down, Kyunnie,” Kihyun instructs softly. Changkyun silently complies, setting his now-empty cup on the floor as he uses Kihyun’s lap as a pillow. The liquor is definitely getting to him now, and he’s grateful for the short reprieve from the incredibly difficult task of sitting up. Kihyun’s fingers play with his hair, and Changkyun hums at the wonderfully comforting feeling as his eyes fall shut on this most glorious Halloween night.
