Imposter syndrome is not a life sentence. It is the internal psychological experience of feeling like a phony in some area of your life. Here are some insights to assist you in getting out of your own way and owning your unique brilliance. Imposter syndrome is when we can arrive sometimes in a situation where there is a certain level of success either an opportunity or a particular milestone in our lives or in our businesses. But we are not able to fully appreciate it and enjoy it. Because we don't feel worthy of it.
So, ultimately the source of what is lying underneath the imposter syndrome is unworthiness. So if we can excavate that unworthiness, we can actually not suffer from imposter syndrome and that comes down to excavating that unworthiness but also being authentic, not pretending not trying to fake it till you make it. When you fake it till you make it you get so used to pretending that when you have actually succeeded you're not able to recognize it.
Overcoming imposter syndrome involves changing a person's mindset about their own abilities. Imposters feel like they don’t belong, so acknowledging their expertise and accomplishments is key, as is reminding themselves that they earned their place in their academic or professional environment.
Reflecting on your concrete achievements, sharing your feelings with a loved one, expecting to make mistakes at the beginning of a new experience, and seeking out a mentor who has charted a similar path are a few of the concrete steps that can fight imposter syndrome.
