This Day in History: Memphis Belle

On this day in 1943, a B-17 Flying Fortress completes its 25th combat mission without losing a member of its crew. Memphis Belle would return to the United States, embark on a war bond tour, and become one of the most famous bombers to emerge from World War II.

She was nearly sold for scrap metal after the war, but Memphis mayor Walter Chandler saved her for $350. Today, she’s been refurbished and sits at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.

Memphis Belle’s survival was no small feat.

The LOS ANGELES premiere will take place in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on November 9th. The venue will be transformed into Shiz University.

The MEXICO CITY premiere will take place in the National Auditorium on November 11th. It will be transformed into the enchanted forest.

The NEW YORK premiere will take place in the Museum of Modern Art on November 14th. It will be transformed into the Ozdust Ballroom.

The highlights of my year edition: 2023 to July 17th 2024

January 8th, 2023: I met my first boyfriend at my workplace. He was a customer and I was making his sandwich. We went out on a date two days later.

March 2023: I switched from night shift to opening and became assistant manager. I personally don't act like one because I never got a pay raise 🙃

June 5th, 2023: I moved out of my parents house and into a studio apartment with my boyfriend.

June 16th to the 24th 2023: I went to my friends university graduation before flying over to Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate. It was my first time in a airplane and I loved it. I kept telling my friends that the airplane was gonna crash and the kid in front of me had a wide eyed look. I knew it wasn't but I loved joking about it.

We went to Tacobell Las Vegas. We saw this cute bird swoop in and land on the table.

Cereal Killerz, I had the oreo milkshake and it wasn't that great. By the way, my whole focus on this trip was to try out all oreo milkshakes I could because I love that specific flavor of shake.

We went to the Muesum of Death. I would add pictures but all the photos have flesh of donated bodies for science.

Omega Mart. It's like a interactive art museum.

The Rainforest Cafe, which was oof expensive. I got a $15.00 quesadilla because it was the cheapest on the menu.

Guy Feris Restaurant. I got trashcan nachos because it was cheap but I couldn't finish all of it due to how salty it tasted.

The Marvel Muesum. It was really just some marvel posters and statutes of the original six.

Dennys along the Strip. Second best oreo milkshake there tbh.

We went to this candy store that I don't remember the name of but it has a gummy bear chandler. I got this cotton-candy alcohol drink and it was amazing.

We also went to an ice bar, which sounds exactly like it is. I would add pictures but all of them contain my friends and I don't want to post them online.

We went to a Blair Witch escape room, no pictures of that; but, my friends did it as a little surprise because they knew I loved the Blair Witch movie. It's not the plot, but the acting that makes it great 😌

I spent my 23rd birthday in a airport to return home and the best milkshake I had was from Rubys in the airport. I have no intentions of returning to Las Vegas. It wasn't for me, I didn't like the heat or how expensive everything was. I didn't like the crowds, but what else would you expect for a popular tourists city?

July 16th, 2023:

I adopted a kitten. Her name is Pretzel and she has a bit of a bent tail and one of her pupils are bigger than the other. She loves to play with tootsies and she will yell at anyone she can.

July 22nd, 2023: I drove the seven hour drive from my small town up to Seattle, Washington for the first night of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. It was hot and crowded and anxiety inducing because holy crap I've never been in a place with 65,000 people. I remember feeling the ground shake and it was because everyone was jumping and dancing along to her songs and it stimulated a earthquake.

September 18th, 2024: After being in pain and sick for a week, I ended up in the hospital because my gallbladder decided to expand to the size of a fist and it had to be removed. The doctors said if I came in a day later it would have imploded and I would be very sick or dead. They also said it was the biggest one they have ever seen and removed. I didn't want to go to the doctor because the American Healthcare system sucks. My hospital bill before insurance was just a little past $40,000. I only had to pay $3,000. Unfortunately, bad gallbladders run in the family it was just my time for mine. I wanted to keep it in a jar but they wouldn't let me 🙃

June 23rd, 2024: I celebrated my 24th birthday. All I wanted was Ruby's cake from the Nickelodeon show Max and Ruby.

July 17th, 2024

I'm doing alot better mentally. I'm thriving so much more than I was earlier this year. I feel like a Sunflower with the warmth of the sun beaming down on me

Tomorrow is my birthday and the truth is it's the first time in a long time that I'm excited about something like this. Other years I had a bad time, I used to be alone for my parents work and really I didn't have much friends hehe and this one will be different, at least that's how the people who came into my life this year make me feel. I'm going out with my best friend and we'll go to a museum and then we'll go out to take photos, wanting to recreate one of Friends with Chandler and Joey haha. Anyway, at the end of the night when I return home I will be in cai, because it is a place of comfort for me and I just wanted to think about what it would be like to spend a day like that with my boys or at least read how they would do so that the reader has a nice birthday.

• let's face it, Joel isn't the best at celebrating birthdays, judging by how he celebrated his own, but he knows it's an important date to you, so there's two ways this can go: he'll either ask Sarah for help to set up a party, or he will straight up ask you what you want: he knows he's gotta get you a present, and he will buy you something he knows you really want, or related to your hobby: if you're into reading, then a new book, if you're into art, art supplies and so on. He will buy your favorite cake at a very nice bakery and grill those burgers only he can make. You will sing happy birthday with your little family and once you two are alone, he's gonna make you enjoy your birthday by making you feel really good ;)

Agent Whiskey:

• Whiskey could throw you the biggest party Kentucky has ever seen, but I have the feeling he would want something more intimate, between the two of you, so I'm sure Whiskey would be the one to take you out wherever you want, probably a fancy hotel or a resort to spend a few days, relaxing by the pool, drinks, fancy dinners and of course a big birthday cake! I feel Whiskey would also get you an extravagant present like a jewelery and you can bet there will be something to enjoy together, like a piece of lingerie or a toy ;)

You were hanging upside down on your coach, clicking through the local news channels trying to find the best view of the chase. Your laptop was discarded besides you. It’s open to an article about Dick Grayson ‘soaring through’ the annual charity ball on the chandler when he first was adopted into the Wayne family. There were multiple other browsers open, all on the Wayne Family and their lucrative businesses and charities, along with their scandals too.

You said you would do your research.

Your attention was taken away from this ‘research’ as a new alert about Batman and Robin chasing some nameless villain, who had kidnapped some poor boy, on founders island came up. No new station could find a good angle, you were annoyed.

“Damn you!” you toss the remote to the other side of the coach, quickly you flip yourself around and get off of the coach. You mumble about how they do it on purpose, they were trying to make you read their shit article. You had to wait for social media to do its thing of supplying you with clips of your favorite heroes (well not absolute favorites). Your apartment was nothing to overlook, always seems to have been updated without you knowing. It always had the latest tech, or trendiest look. You have been rich for 7 years now and still can't seem under it.

You walk over to the floor to ceiling windows, looking down you see people walking home or to a club, taxis and cars driving in opposite directions. Slowly the news faded to the back of your mind.

Nights in Gotham were always busy, especially near Old Gotham. It was rich with history and culture, and also money too. When you first woke up in this world you wanted to visit every place possible. You went to museums, office buildings, the GCDP nearby, and shops you had never even heard of. You used to stand out on the corner of the street watching the luxury cars pass by, while your ‘Assistant’, Val Miller, carried bags from the toy store you frequented, or the candy stores you couldn’t help but indulge in. Yo had never really had a childhood, but looking back you weren't as grown as you thought. You looked up at the neighboring building, the neon lights danced in your eyes. There was one that always caught your eye.

You went into that office building, or what you know as Wayne tower, once. You were dressed like a typical kid or preteen, you wouldn’t stop looking at all the expansive interior. The front desk workers thought it was the funniest thing that a kid was excited to be there. They gave you a small tour of the base floor level and let you answer some calls. It was great for you. You were just a kid when you came here, and even now you are just a kid. Everything was new and shiny to you.

This place is a far cry from your home near the east end of gotham. There was a high rate of villain bases and criminal activity in your area. While it wasn’t the safest environment for you as a child, it is what you knew. It’s where you learned to survive, how to live. So you tried your best to protect your small place of peace, your shabby second floor apartment. Full of splitters waiting to happen and ready to cause a concussion at any moment, it was far from ideal, but it had running water, gas, and occasional heat. You lived with your mother, she was a brilliant flash of light in the darkest corner of Gotham, but she wasn't alway there for you. While she wasn't the perfect mother, she did what she could with what she had for the both of you.

The two of you kind of awkwardly stood around, Chandler shifting on his heels. You grew tired of the silence and leaned in slowly, giving him the opportunity to back out.

He let out a shaky sigh. “Does my breath smell bad?” He whispers, practically talking against your lips. You let out a small chuckle, “No”. Your lips finally connect.

“That was SO cheesy!” Monica shouted with a laugh, which earned her an elbow to her ribs. “Shut up, I think it’s sweet!” Rachel countered.

Chandler pulled away from you with a shy smile, his ears burning red. “I’ll see you tomorrow” You laughed, watching him scuttle away.

Ross Geller

- After some hyping from Joey, he asked you out

- he tried to ‘play it cool’ but it wasn’t long before he started to share facts

- for your first date, he actually took you Roa museum and geeked out

- it started to become a competition between the two of you to see who knew more

- he lends you his books all the time

- his love language is literally just info sharing. It excites him because you’re one of the only people who actually let him go on

“Did you know that kissing could lower your blood pressure? It can even burn a few calories, in extreme make out sessions of course, but it’s still cool” Ross rambled on.

“Wanna test that?” You pipe up.

“It can even reduce plaque build up because when you’re kissing more saliva-… what?” He cuts himself off, turning beet red.

You moved closer to him, “I said, do you want to test that?” You whispered, keeping eye contact. “O-okay” Ross says with a shy smile, and the two of you shared a very sweet kiss.
