Date Ideas: Desi Edition
I'm in my TS Lover Era and I need some Pune date ideas so uh.. enjoy my thinking process ig
A proper date: dinner and drinks. Proper manners and polite conversation over good food and good beverages/drinks. You and your date pretend to be very serious adults with very serious jobs, and when you walk out of the restaurant you share a secret laugh as if you've pulled the greatest prank ever.
Chaha date. Standing on the side of a road under the insufficient cover of the chai stall with your fingers gripping the edge of plastic cups or mud tumblers, taking a deep sniff and closing your eyes at the smell of veldoda that wafts up. Looking up and catching their gaze already fixed on you, and looking back down, feeling the heat spread over your cheeks. You attribute it to the chaha's steam, but you know that's a lie. When you look back up, they're wating for you. They wink, and you nearly drop your cup, making them stifle a giggle.
Kulfi date. It's a crowded lane and you cram into the little hole in the wall kulfi parlour that's been there since your parents were children, excited smiles on both your faces. You order laal peru and request them to sprinkle chilli powder on top. Your partner gives you a dramatic scandalized look that has you cracking up and orders a sitafal kulfi without the chilli, please and thank you. With a lot of whining and teasing and mischievous smiles, you finally get them to taste your kulfi, and it ends with them ordering it for themself. You lean back in your chair and grin smugly even as they roll their eyes.
Book thrifting. Hands held, you walk into your usual book shop, a smile lighting up your face at the familiar smell of mogra and yellowing pages that hangs in the little room. It's a tiny shop in the basement of a shady old plaza, but it always has the best second hand books. The idea is to buy a book you think the other will enjoy, and then discuss them when you are done reading them. You pick up Ruined by Paula Morris, because you remember the three M's that your date swears by: Magic, Murder and Mystery. This is a perfect blend of all three, and you rather think they'll enjoy it. When you meet them at the counter, they have Nashtaneer by Rabindranath Thakur in their hands. You both grin at each other.
Juna Bazaar is as crowded as always. You giggle as they grip your wrist and drag you from shop to shop, rambling about their lecture in college. The sonchafa that you had tucked behind their ear is still there, and it makes something warm settle in your heart. You keep your mind on the mission though: buy three of the most interesting things you see, and then explain why you think it is interesting. They gasp and snap up a beautiful crystal vial like a magpie. It turns out to be kajal, made the traditional way. "You have to!" they insist, "it'll look so good with your pretty eyes!" You turn red and accept the little wand, dragging it between your eyelids. When you're done, your partner stares at you with their lips parted. Just as you're about to wave in front of their eyes and ask if they're okay, they lean forward and steal a lightning-fast kiss. "Too darn pretty for your own good, you are."
Camp area date! You two take a whole day to just stroll through Camp, pulling each other into random shops and cafés, looking at everything and eating from restaurants and roadside stalls alike. Your partner drags you deep into a sketchy looking plaza, and you find a clothing shop that sells the most random fashion items. You go to an ittr and perfume store. You visit Pasteur Ice Cream, Cafe Peter, the chaat stalls near Clover Centre and the barbeque corn stalls a little ways from Kumar Plaza. At the end of the day, you go home and show each other all your purchases; they bought you a bejewelled purse that goes with that one pair of your heels and you squeal over it, you bought them a chandan attar because you remember them mentioning it being their favourite smell and they immediately rub it over their wrists with a bright smile.
The two of you are tucked into a little corner of the garden. Sitting on an old bedsheet with several lunchboxes filled with bhel, samosa, kaju katli, shrikhand, slices of mango and watermelon and a bunch of green grapes. Your phone plays a familiar tune— Ishq Wala Love, and you're mouthing the lyrics in the most dramatic style that you can, revelling in the laughter of your partner. There is a mogra cha gajra braided into your hair and three roses tucked behind their ear; your little gifts to each other. Their eyes gleam bright with mirth, lips curved upward into a wide grin, and you can't help but lean forward and press a soft kiss to their lips. This picnic date is the best idea you've had in a while, you think, and the late spring flowers in bloom are the perfect addition.

These people get it. And it was on yt of all places that's filled with sexist idiots. But this was refreshing to see-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously there are some butthurt darker skinned men crying in the replies about how they feel hurt by these comments and that you can't make "blanket statements" based on someone's sex.
How dishonest to act like it's not darker skinned guys themselves who put darker skinned girls down. I have had guys with skin tone 2-3 times darker than me mock me for not being fair enough to meet the beauty standards here.
There's a reason the woman's skin tone is judged more critically than the man's when arranging for a marriage.
There's a reason you come across more lighter skinned Indian women and girls than lighter skinned men and boys.
We're forced from a very young age to start applying skin whitening agents on our body. My mother used to physically restrain me while she pounded chandan powder or turmeric on my face. And till this day she still keeps calling out insults based on my darker skin tone.
Colorism is an issue disproportionately affecting women of color because it is a beauty standard issue and beauty standards are always harsher on women regardless of culture. Moc hardly go through even an ounce of the bullying and discrimination we do on this basis.

Complete Diwali Puja Kit: Essentials for a Blessed Ritual
Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in India. It is a time of joy, light, and devotion, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and light over darkness. Central to Diwali celebrations is the practice of puja (worship), a sacred ritual performed to honor and invoke the blessings of deities, primarily Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, and Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. To ensure that the puja is carried out with devotion and completeness, a well-prepared Diwali Puja Kit is essential.
A Diwali Puja Kit brings together all the items required for performing the ritual in one convenient package. These kits are thoughtfully assembled to include everything you need for the ceremony, saving time and ensuring nothing is overlooked. Let’s explore the essential components of a Diwali Puja Kit, their significance, and how they contribute to a meaningful and blessed ritual.
The Essentials of a Diwali Puja Kit
Idols or Pictures of Deities The heart of any puja is the deity being worshipped. In the case of Diwali, idols or images of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are essential. Lakshmi is believed to bring wealth and abundance, while Ganesha bestows wisdom and removes obstacles from one’s path. These idols or pictures are typically made of clay, metal, or paper, depending on the kit. Before beginning the puja, these sacred figures are placed on a clean platform, often adorned with flowers and garlands.
Kalash (Sacred Pot) The Kalash, or sacred pot, is a significant item in Hindu rituals. It symbolizes life and creation. In a Diwali Puja Kit, the Kalash is typically made of metal, such as copper or silver, and is filled with water, topped with mango leaves, and a coconut placed on top. The Kalash is used during the invocation of deities to invite their presence during the puja.
Puja Thali (Plate) The Puja Thali is an integral part of the ritual. It is a plate, often made of brass or silver, where all the items required for the worship are arranged. A standard Puja Thali includes diya (lamp), rice (akshat), sandalwood paste (chandan), incense sticks (agarbatti), kumkum (vermillion), and turmeric powder (haldi), which are offered during the puja to the deities.
Diya (Oil Lamp) Diya, or an oil lamp, represents light and knowledge. Lighting a diya during Diwali holds deep symbolic meaning as it signifies dispelling darkness and inviting divine light into one’s home and life. Traditionally, clay diyas are used, which are filled with oil or ghee and lit with cotton wicks. Many Puja Kits come with beautifully decorated diyas.
Panchamrit (Sacred Mix) Panchamrit is a mixture of five sacred ingredients – milk, curd, honey, sugar, and ghee. It is used to bathe (abhishek) the idols of the deities during the puja. Each ingredient has its own symbolic importance, with milk representing purity, curd signifying fertility, honey symbolizing sweetness, sugar representing the joy of life, and ghee symbolizing strength.
Sandalwood Paste (Chandan) Sandalwood paste, or chandan, is used in Hindu rituals to mark the forehead of the deities and the devotees. It is applied as a symbol of purity and devotion. The pleasant fragrance of sandalwood is believed to calm the mind and promote spiritual awareness.
Kumkum and Haldi (Vermillion and Turmeric) Kumkum (vermillion) and haldi (turmeric) are considered auspicious substances in Hindu rituals. Kumkum, applied as a red mark on the forehead of idols and devotees, signifies the energy of the divine feminine. Turmeric is used for its purifying qualities and is often sprinkled or applied during the puja to invoke blessings.
Rice (Akshat) Akshat refers to unbroken rice grains mixed with turmeric, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. During the puja, rice is offered to the deities, as it represents food, sustenance, and the nurturing aspects of life.
Incense Sticks (Agarbatti) and Camphor (Kapoor) Incense sticks (agarbatti) and camphor (kapoor) are commonly used in Hindu rituals to purify the environment. The smoke from the incense is believed to carry prayers to the divine, while the fragrance creates a peaceful atmosphere. Camphor is often burned towards the end of the puja, representing the removal of ego and purification of the self.
Flowers and Garland Fresh flowers are an important part of any puja. They symbolize purity, beauty, and devotion. In the Diwali Puja Kit, you may find marigold flowers or pre-made garlands that are used to adorn the idols of the deities and the puja area. Offering flowers during the ritual is a way of showing reverence and love towards the divine.
Fruits and Sweets (Prasad) Prasad, or food offerings, is an essential part of any Hindu ritual. Fruits, sweets, and other edible items are placed in front of the deity as an offering and are later distributed among the devotees as a blessing. Popular sweets like ladoos, kheer, or peda are often included in the Diwali Puja Kit or prepared separately.
Holy Water (Ganga Jal) Ganga Jal, or water from the sacred river Ganges, is considered extremely pure and is used to sprinkle around the house and on the idols to cleanse and sanctify the space. It is believed to have purifying properties, both spiritually and physically, and is an essential element in many Hindu rituals, including Diwali puja.
Betel Leaves and Nuts (Paan and Supari) Betel leaves and areca nuts are traditional offerings in many Hindu pujas. They are symbols of hospitality and prosperity. In the context of Diwali puja, these items are used to complete the ritual offerings, signifying the offering of both tangible and intangible wealth to the divine.
Coins or Money As Diwali is closely associated with wealth and prosperity, coins or money are often offered during the puja as a gesture of gratitude and seeking blessings for future financial well-being. Many Diwali Puja Kits include specially marked coins or silver offerings, representing the connection to Goddess Lakshmi.
Roli and Moli (Red Thread) Roli, or red powder, is used along with kumkum in the ritual of applying tilak (a mark on the forehead). Moli, a sacred red thread, is tied around the wrists of the devotees during the puja. This thread is believed to protect the wearer from negative energies and bring good fortune.
How to Use a Diwali Puja Kit for an Auspicious Ritual
Once you have your Diwali Puja Kit, follow these steps to ensure a blessed and harmonious ceremony:
Preparation: Clean and purify the space where the puja will be performed. Place the idols or images of the deities on a decorated platform.
Arrangement: Set up the Puja Thali with all the required items from the kit, such as diya, flowers, incense sticks, kumkum, and sandalwood paste.
Puja Process: Begin the puja by invoking Lord Ganesha, followed by offering prayers to Goddess Lakshmi. Perform rituals like lighting the diya, offering flowers, applying kumkum, and presenting fruits and sweets.
Aarti: Conclude the puja with an aarti, where the diya or camphor is circled around the deities in a clockwise direction while chanting prayers or hymns.
By using a thoughtfully prepared Diwali Puja Kit, you can perform the ritual with ease, ensuring that no essential component is missing. These kits are especially convenient for those who may not have access to individual items or are new to the process. The completeness of a Diwali Puja Kit ensures that you can focus on the spiritual aspect of the festival, fostering a deep sense of connection, devotion, and blessings for the year ahead.
May this Diwali bring light, joy, and prosperity to your home and heart!

A Holistic Approach to Skincare
Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of not just external treatments but also internal health. This brings us to another product that plays a dual role in both skincare and overall health – Ayurvedic Medicine for Diabetes. Maintaining healthy blood sugar levels is essential for preventing issues like dry skin, which is often a side effect of diabetes. Ayurvedic medicine for diabetes, such as Felixoveda's herbal formulations, can help regulate glucose levels while promoting holistic well-being. By addressing internal imbalances, these medicines can also indirectly contribute to healthier, more vibrant skin.
Conclusion
Ayurvedic skin care products not only provide external nourishment but also align with the body’s inner balance. Embrace the wisdom of Ayurveda for healthier, radiant skin and overall well-being.

Well, its that month of the year, planning for the meetings.
Before you get the point, scroll down and know my damn cringy thing happened around last meet.
I woke up to someone calling my name out loud. It sounded like how Malayalees call me out, “ojaseeee”. I loved that for some reason. Of course I hate opening my mouth without brushing. But here I have to adapt. I adapted. I wrapped my hair up and opened the door, it was his mum. “Wake up. Don’t be in a hurry, you got enough time.” That lady holds a smile always and that’s too cute to handle. That was a good wake up call. So, I woke up, shit, I didn’t even have a brush or a toothpaste or a towel. What a crack I was. No, not to blame me, it was my first time. Well, somehow managed to do routine, wore the same inners and came out with chechi’s shirt and my skirt that goes under my saree.
Last night, the girl with me had a sudden knee twist, so she was in need of a knee short. Well, I had to call him for that. “morning” from that side. Aww my mornings had never been this good.
Me: good morning, where are you?
Him: with the people out. You need something?
Me: not me the girl who got her knee twisted need some kind of band aid shorts that fixes the knee.
Him: alright. Had a good sleep?
Me: of course.
Switched off and walked around. Drying my hair. I didn’t hear his call again. When I called back for my need he was on drive. He came up, with the thing, unfortunately he had called to make sure with the size. They had to exchange. Fine. I went till the entrance of his room; he was doing something. “Can you get me some center fresh for me?” my mouth needs it.
He: why?
Me: I just need it. Please.
He smiled. I fell. Actually, I was melting.
I dressed up. Somehow my company helped me up to get ready and I was done in 5 mins as usual. We all were ready. Amma called us for the breakfast. Of course I have to cross him to get down. He saw me. I didn’t look up. I heard only that “hrm hrm” sound made by him, which made me blush. I wanted to ask him how I was looking, I wanted to tell him that he looks damn hot and pretty. I didn’t. I was melting. Amma and Acha with few of their relatives were seated down, they introduced me. I gave a big smile. He was behind me. he went inside the kitchen for the turmeric powder, to use as Chandan. What the heck. Why don’t you use the normal Chandan? I did ask him. He said that he is too lazy for it. So, we left for breakfast. Had my minimal one. We had to pick some to our room for the girl there. I was holding the tea. He was still behind me. he commented. “Looks like someone holding that evening lamp.” Shut the fuck up dude, its damn hot and I don’t have time to laugh for your joke. I whispered to myself. No other go. I settled things up. Inside for some time. He came with prasadam from temple. Called me out. He called me out. And gave me. I wore it. Asked me to come to the other side. I could see his friends watching us. I didn’t mind. I went. He stretched his hands. Asking me to show my palm. Kept the center fresh that I asked for. Aww that was the sweetest. I could have kissed him hard at that moment. I blushed instead and walked away.
Took pictures with chechi, and walked out to the temple, where the marriage is going to happen. It's happening. I am getting call from school that I got the job. I am happy. I am sitting. Watching him moving around. I am waiting to tell him first. He come from behind and asks me to stay. I said no I have to and hold his hand. My hands shaking. I tell him I got a job. I am blushing. He is wishing me. and after lunch he calls for a group picture with him and his friends. I am that only girl as his friend. Did feel weird. But cute with him. He is whispering to stay a day. I could hear his need. I could feel him. I shake my head. He puts me with his friends. Asking them to give me a company. They were too good with me. good time.
My phone rings. It's him. I pick up. Move out. He is waiting with the car and his cousin brother on the driving seat. He asks me what my nick name was again. I tell him. He uses that. he asks for my gpay number. I tell him I don’t have one. He threatens me to say that he won’t leave me unless I tell him. I tell him. He comes up with me. I tell him I wanted to change my clothes. He stares. I understand his stare. I ask him to move out. He moves out. He knocks. I open. A bit. He gives hints about what he needs. I know everything. I act as if I don’t know. I tell him to wait. I change my clothes. He comes in. tells me that he’s that lucky person for me as I got the job. we take a picture. We walk down. I stop and as he locks the door, I keep my bag on the side and ask for a hug. Or else I wouldn’t live further. He is happy. He is blushing. He looks at me. I pull away. I know what would happen if I stayed. I need to stay. I want to feel him. I need to be with him. I don’t want to miss him. But I do it. I leave. I LEFT THE PLACE LEAVING ME WITH HIM.
This is going to stay with me forever. I got to meet really nice people. Who knew me already and named our relationship somehow.
it ends for a year.
