Here’s Some Of My Uchu Sentai Kyuranger Headcanon Designs (Casual Clothing Edition)

1. Lucky: Wears a simple white t-shirt with a red jacket over it, paired with dark blue jeans and white sneakers. He also wears a red beanie cap on his head.

2. Stinger: Wears a black leather jacket over a plain white t-shirt, paired with dark blue jeans and black boots. He also wears a necklace with a scorpion pendant.

3. Garu: Wears a black hoodie over a black t-shirt, paired with light blue denim jeans and white sneakers. He also wears a silver chain bracelet on his wrist.

4. Balance: Wears a yellow polo shirt with black stripes, paired with black trousers and black loafers. He also wears a pair of black sunglasses.

5. Champ: Wears a black tank top with red accents, paired with red shorts and black flip flops. He also wears a red sweatband on his forehead.

6. Naga Ray: Wears a white button-down shirt with a black bow tie, paired with black trousers and black dress shoes. He also wears a black blazer over his shirt.

7. Hammie: Wears a green sweater with a white collar, paired with black leggings and white sneakers. She also wears a green hairband.

8. Raptor 283: Wears a green and white striped t-shirt, paired with light blue denim shorts and green sneakers. She also wears a green baseball cap.

9. Spada: Wears a purple button-down shirt with a black bow tie, paired with black trousers and black dress shoes. He also wears a black blazer over his shirt.

10. Shou Ronpa: Wears a light blue polo shirt with white stripes, paired with navy blue shorts and white sneakers. He also wears a white baseball cap.

11. Kotaro Sakuma: Wears a red and black plaid shirt, paired with black trousers and brown boots. He also wears a brown leather belt.

12. Tsurugi Ohtori: Wears a white t-shirt with a black leather jacket over it, paired with black denim jeans and black boots. He also wears a silver chain necklace.

You say that PR is kicking sentais ass when it comes to female red Rangers, but that's not true. Sentai did a female red ranger first, and Kakuramger had the first female leader. Sentai has also had more plus sized rangers than PR, had a male Pink Ranger in DonBrothers, and a non-binary ranger in King Ohger.

First of all I want to make it clear that there's no "winner" in regards to representation between Power Rangers and Super Sentai. Both have their failings and should be doing more with representation, especially given how long both franchises have been around.

But that being said....no, Power Rangers has absolutely kicked Sentai's ass in regards to female Reds lol Power Rangers actually had the first female Red ever with A-Squad Red Charlie in SPD, which predates Kaoru in Shinkenger by four years. Kaoru is also the ONLY female Red Sentai has, while Power Rangers the show has had three (Charlie, Lauren, and Amelia) and the modern comics have had at least seven (Britt, Grace, Rhian, Putty Rita, Trini, Tula, Lauren - with two of those girls have two separate sets of Red powers.)

As for the others -

= Yes, Kakuranger had a female leader before Power Rangers - but I do think it's worth noting that she debuted twenty years after Super Sentai began, versus how Power Rangers adapted her as Delphine three years after Power Rangers began.

= I'm.....legitimately failing to think of any plus-sized Rangers in Sentai besides Champ in Kyuranger. Who was a robot bull. So should we really count that. Power Rangers also failed with plus-sized representation in the show, and the only examples it has are Jack from Hyperforce and Tigan from the comics. But at least Jack was...a person kdjfk

= Sentai does have a male Pink and a non-binary Ranger, which is great! We should have seen that kind of rep in the actual Power Rangers show, but we do have a decent number of both in the comics - Zack, Daniel, Casey, Kartyr, and Orion as male Pinks, and Mathis, Ori, and Death Ranger as non-binary Rangers.

So overall, while Sentai might have been the "first" to do a lot of this, Power Rangers has the advantage of quantity, thanks especially to the modern comics. But again, both sides can do better, and have barely scratched the surface of other aspects of representation.

It’s the parallel world Lucky who’s been possessed by Don Armage and not the Lucky we’ve been following in the Kyuranger series.

The plot of the stage show involves multiverse hopping.

The one who’s included in the brainwashed support group are Tsurugi, Stinger and Champ… but not Lucky…

Wait no,

The Kyurangers literally had a Civil War in their post series movie with Gavan, so everyone’s in that support group.

They are in the “I fought against my friends” category.

Ah, thank goodness then. Everyone is spared from Lucky's infuriating catchphrase...

I don't think the "civil war" case would count in this instance. While Hammie was certainly manipulated into fighting the rest of her team (and thus she would be in the support group), the same could not be said about the other Kyuurangers' split over how to handle her situation. That was more of an internal conflict within the team, and no one was forced to side with whichever group they sided with. It wasn't like one side was being unreasonable compared to the other, either, at least in the context of what the team knew at the time- it's just that neither side would compromise on what to do with Hammie.

In my view, the split reveals that that the team dynamic still needs work, because even with the differing views over how to deal with Hammie's "betrayal", they should never have come to blows to begin with.

Idk if this is good enough but on Kyuranger when Stinger, wearing a jester costume, sings a song to Champ who's chained up or something, and then blasts a Lazer to Champ's heart to destroy a bad thing that was attached to it, and then a specter of the professor that built Champ is shown protecting his heart

This is both, insane and goofy but also very sweet. I like the relationship between stinger and champ a lot. I don't have a deeper analysis of the scene, I just think its a very cute scene

If that doesn't count then there's a scene from Kyuranger too where Garu's suit actor jump his own fucking height and reaches the upper floor of the ship's meeting room so he can scold balance (I think?) About something. That's when I noticed his suit actor made some INSANE stunts all throughout the show

3. Garu: His Kyuranger design would be inspired by wolves, with a gray and white color scheme. His helmet would have wolf ears, and his suit would have gray armor with white accents. He would also have a pair of wolf claws that could transform into a sword.

4. Balance: His Kyuranger design would be inspired by scales, with a blue and silver color scheme. His helmet would have a scale pattern, and his suit would have blue armor with silver accents. He would also have a pair of scales that could transform into a shield.

I adore “KyuRanger” and this dynamic specifically is absolutely a big part of why, so it does my heart a lot of good to see just how perfectly you nailed it.  The clever misdirect of the initial shot leading us to think this is something Champ has forced on Stinger only for Stinger to reveal he’s the one who made the sweaters is especially spot-on and delightful.  I also really love the particular way you handle the shapes of Stinger’s tail ‘n’ Champ’s head, something about the specifically stylized angles you use for them are just so good.
