And the chapters are between 5k and 7k words each! Each! The fifth chapter is currently sitting pretty at 10 fucking k so I’ll probably have to split it in half…

But I’m dying over this I think it is wild lol. Do people not remember what it was like to have fics that updated every six months, if that, for nearly a decade? Is this something no one else remembers? Have we gotten so into instant gratification culture that waiting a week for 5 thousand words of fanfic is a long time?

Okay, so I I got into a little boss fight in sector 0, jenova's pulse or something, which took me about 35 minutes to beat.

It teleported away. It summoned so many tentacles that they had letters from a to q. When i destroyed them, the tentacles returned after some time. It summoned acid rain. It summoned a tornado. Sometimes, it would suddenly be immune to any and all damage. It casted stop and did a bunch of other attacks. I played Aerith for half the time so that I wouldn't die.

Even if it was a little troublesome, it was still fun.

But after that fight, there were only some cutscenes (and walking to the cutscenes), before the next boss, Rufus. Why? He, too, took me 35 minutes to beat.

Let me get this together. This boss has a partner. Cloud, and therefore I, was alone because he's buying time for the team members to flee. I can't really heal myself because fighting alone means that I needed to wait longer for the ATP to load, with which skills, magic, healing, and items can be used. The boss may only have had 14688 HP, but when I get it down to a certain point, his dog heals him? So I needed to kill his dog first, but these two are a really great team. When the other leaves themselves open after an attack, the other attacks. I can't really catch a break unless I'm running away, trying to keep my distance for the ATP to load, only that the boss also has distance attacks. But for the first round, they were fairly easy to predict and dodge. The dog also immobilised me, so I could only wait and watch the HP drop. After Dark Star was finally dead, Rufus decided to be the flash and jump over the entire area. Oh, and he shot laser beams, smoke bombs, explosives, normal bullets, double bullets, and some electro ball. Of course he could also parry the physical attacks unless he was reloading the gun, but due to him jumping around like a flea, I could often not reach him before he loaded his gun and thus would be parried again. It still was fairly easy because the attack pattern was relatively simple. It was just a matter of stamina, and I came up on top in the end.

It was also a very fun fight, just too close to the previous one.
