책가도 10폭 병풍, 19세기 전반, 비단에 채색, 각각 149.5 × 45.0cm, 개인 소장 Chaekgado Ten-panel folding screen, Middle of 19th century, ink and color on silk, each panel 149.5 x 45cm
Chaekgeori is a still-life painting genre that emerged in late eighteenth-century Joseon Korea. Books are the primary and most important motif in such paintings, evident from their prominent placement, abundance, and the name chaekgeori, which means “books and things” or “books and the materials for them.” Chaekgeori paintings were made through the modern period and continue to inspire contemporary artists. The Museum’s ten-panel chaekgeoriscreen (2005.385) is a wonderful example of the continuation and transformation of such works in the early twentieth century. It illustrates an array of objects typical of the genre, including books, bronzes, ceramics, fruits, flowers, and writing implements. (from The MET)

BGC: A True Child of the 21st Century
Bonifacio Global City, also known as BGC, is a home of passionate minds - a modern wonder of contemporary living populated by great minds and passionate hearts. It is considered as a true child of the 21st century because of its contemporary and modernozed approach. From it’s sky-high buildings up to its greenest parks, it is really a place for enjoyment and relaxation combined.
(Location: Bonifacio High Street)
January 19, 2018: Me, Lorraine, Darlene, Kisreign, and Marlyn went to BGC to shoot for our travel vlog. I went here for a couple of times now but I never really got to explore the whole city. We stayed at a condo owned by my Aunt Alma in the Trion Towers which is located at the heart of BGC.
Sm Aura, Market Market, Bonifacio High Street’s murals and of course, the infamous Venice Grand Canal Mall, are our main destinations and it is just a few blocks away from our loft. We decided to walk in order for us to clearly see the beauty of BGC.
Filipinos are not only known for hospitality, but they also should be known because of the unique and distinct artworks. BGC is a city filled with beautiful and structural Street Arts/ Murals. These murals are made by our co-Filipino artists and some are even made with other nations.
Here are my top 5 most loved and most awed murals in BGC:
1. Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil
Artist: Archie Geotina Location: Bonifacio High Street
This is probably the mural that really captured my eyes. It seemed simple but its details were on point and everything about it is just exceptional.
2. Between the Lines Artist: Cycle Location: Icon Plaza Building, Federacion Drive (near the corner of 26th street and 7th avenue)
This whole lot is not only an attraction for the tourists and locals because of the astronaut, but it is also now a venue for the open air food park, Mercato Centrale, every weekend. There are a variety of food for everyone to choose from. It is a perfect place for you to hang out with your friends, family, or loved ones while eating and also looking at the artwork.
3. Mother Nature: Four Seasons Artist: Dee Jay Pa’este Location: Bonifacio High Street Central stairs (going to 28th street)
Like the title said, it has 4 seasons. And every side of this building has different faces of mother nature in it in a form pf water, earth, air, and fire.
4. Kid(s) with Spray Paint Creations Artist: Nate Frizzell Location:R.O.X building, Bonifacio high street, facing 7th avenue
Nate Frizzell’s street arts really gives off this gloomy yet heart-warming effect. The kid was so dietailed that it looked real in person.
5. Beyond Borders, Peaceful Voyage Created by: ASEAN Artists Location: 26th street corner 5th avenue
This mural is done with the support of Korean Culture Center and it is made by the collaboration of 11 ASEAN Artists. The mural was inspired by the Korean bookshelf called “chaekgado” which symbolizes the countries’ merging and friendship between them.
These murals are just a preview. There are plenty more murals that you can explore and take pictures of.
If you go to BGC, here are some tips for your trip:
* If you have a friend/relative that has a house/condo there, it will be better for you to stay there atleast just for a night or 2 in order to explore the whole city of BGC
* You can bring your car but if you really want to be ables to go around, it’s better if you walk. You’ll be able to see more while having a healthy life.
* Bring a companion. If you have a pro friend when it comes to taking a picture, this is the right time for you to treat him/her so that they’ll come with you.
* Wear comfortable yet stylish clothes. Keep it simple yet minimal since you would want the paintings and street arts of BGC to shine out.
* BGC is very strict when it comes to discipline so as you will see when you go there, their streets are very clean and organized. Jay Walking is strictly prohibited. Maybe instead of you taking pics of the murals, you’ll find yourself in a jail talking to the policemen to call your Mom. Be disciplined guys!!
* And lastly, Have fun!!!
Now that I’ve given you an idea for your next “instagrammable” trip, it’s time for you to explore it on your own. Keep wandering, guys! 💋

The Room of Desires: München vom 06.03. bis 01.04.2017
