The message repeated over and over again, garbled as hell and incomprehensible. The four people standing above her started a heated discussion about their next step. She could swear something was familiar about that voice, but it wasn’t clicking.
“Can you clear it up any more than that?” Sabine asked Martas tensely.
“Working on it, Commander,” he replied. “ED-4, try masking this intensity, here.”
The droid beeped an affirmative, and finally the message cleared up—and the contents of it had Sabine’s heart stopped dead.

the wedding date - ch. 6
a/n: hope you enjoy! heads up the next chapter will be nsfw
part 6 of the percabeth fake dating!au
part 1
“Cheers!”
Piper and her bridesmaids clinked phallic shot glasses with “P GETS J’d” engraved on the sides, and each downed shots of tequila.
The interior of Cabin 10, Piper’s old cabin, had been completely redecorated by Drew and Leo that afternoon. The pink walls and vanities that littered the floor were decked out in various penius paraphernalia. The bridal party, all decked out in clubbing clothes and bridesmaid sashes, all gathered around a truly impressive array of alcohols and cocktail ingredients to pre-game Piper’s hen do.
Leo climbed on top of a pink velour ottoman, “Ahem, attention!” He clinked a hot pink penis-shaped straw against his shot glass, “Welcome to Beauty Queen’s Final Night Out—”
“Ah, ah, ah, no, Leo, that is not what we’re calling it,” Piper chimed, sucking on lime.
“Fine, Piper’s Penis Parade—”
“No.”
“Rest in Peace, Piper’s Innocen—”
“Leo.”
“Fine! Piper’s bachelorette party,” Leo grumbled, “Got an exciting night for you ladies planned. Argus is gonna drive you guys in-land to the club, you’ll dance the night away with an open bar, and he’ll drive you guys back here when you’re all thoroughly blacked out. Be mindful, though, for those in the wedding party, we have a dance lesson in the morning so go crazy, go stupid, but you have to have a functioning body in the morning.”
Even though they were just going to the one-and-only source of night life in Montauk, Annabeth looked at her friends, they looked amazing. She felt extremely good herself in a short, black bodycon dress that showed off her athletic build and her “man killer” heels from college — the alcohol in her system helped too.
As Leo rattled off the list of things to be mindful of during the night, Annabeth leaned over and began to make herself a martini.
Piper, in white jeans and a flowy, low-cut top under her sparkly white “Bride” sash, nudged Annabeth as she plopped an olive into her glass, “Hey, make me one too. A double if Leo is going to keep on talking.”
Annabeth chuckled, glancing over to Leo atop the footrest who had been joined by Drew in listing off the acceptable songs to request to the DJ. She handed Piper the martini glass.
“Thanks,” Piper muttered, throwing it back, “I am exhausted after today, but Leo insisted I have my bachelorette party tonight with everyone here.”
“Today was so fun, though,” Annabeth said, “I forgot how much I missed this place.”
“Percy looked like he was having a good time.”
“Oh? I’m glad, I was a little nervous about bringing him.”
“I could tell. But he’s great, ‘Beth, really. I’m glad you brought him,” Piper said, “I know I only met him this morning, but you guys are good together. I just sense this easiness with the two of you. He seems to make you happy”
Annabeth flushed. Percy did make her happy, “Yeah, he’s—Percy’s a good guy.”
Thalia, who was downing her second drink, piped into their conversation, “We’re talking about Percy? Yeah, Annabeth, Percy. I mean, wow. That is a hot piece of ass, right there. And I like men and women so it takes a lot to catch my eye.”
Annabeth nodded in agreement and grabbed a hard cider from the cooler just to keep from having to respond.
“I mean you always got the cute ones, didn’t you?” Thalia said, taking the cider from her and handing Annabeth her empty wine glass. “Percy, Luke...”
“Thalia—” Piper said.
“But then again, it took you years of pining after Luke for him to notice you. It’s funny how you and Percy, how long did you say, a month ago? Only? And you already brought him to us. I can see why though, he’s so goddamn attractive.
Annabeth’s face and anger flared, “Thalia—”
Thalia rambled on, “Perfect timing so you could have a wedding date because gods forbid perfect Annabeth with her perfect career and perfect life not have a perfect date, too. It was easy though, right, because all the guys fall for Annie! He’s no Luke, though.”
“Enough, Thals. She’s just drunk, ” Piper muttered to Annabeth, rolling her eyes. She could tell Piper was annoyed with her fiancé’s sister. Thankfully, Leo had finished explaining proper night club dance circle etiquette and Drew started blasting trashy pop.
Knock, knock.
“Was anyone missing?” Piper asked, counting heads around the room, “No, all five of you are here, Calypso wasn’t feeling well and Reyna’s down with the boys.”
“I’ll get it!” Thalia said, crossing the cabin to the door, a fresh glass of rosé in hand.
It was Percy.
With the tequila and wine already flowing through their veins, Piper’s bridesmaids erupted in squeals when they saw him — an expected reaction for any attractive man who happened to fall prey to a bachelorette party.
Annabeth stood from Piper’s side and met him at the door, “Hi,” she said, her eyes bright and cheeks flushed from the alcohol.
“Wow,” Percy said, seeing her short, black dress and stilettos, “You look amazing.”
“Thanks,” Annabeth smirked, this dress was a killer every time. “What are you doing here?” Annabeth was acutely aware of all the girls staring daggers at them.
“You forgot your wallet in our cabin,” Percy said, holding out her black leather wristlet.
“Oh, thank you, I didn’t even notice,” Annabeth said, taking it from him. Percy glanced over her shoulder and also noticed their audience. He waved.
“Sorry to intrude, ladies.”
“No, no!” Drew said, clambering over everyone to meet them at the door, “Have a drink with us!”
“Nah, it’s alright,” Percy said, brushing his dark curls out of his face, “I should head over, Jason invited me to join his stag night.”
“What are you guys doing?”
“Just some beers down by the lake.”
“Don’t forget board games,” Piper called from where she was lounging, “Jason will definitely insist on board games.”
“Are you heading down to the lake now, Percy?” Leo asked, “I’ll join you.”
“You’re not coming with us, Leo?” Annabeth asked.
“Please, I may be the Man of Honor, but I still want to hang with my boys. Shall we Percy?”
Percy nodded as Leo ran down the itinerary again with Drew, the acting party planner in his absence. Percy settled his hands on Annabeth’s waist, kissing her lightly on the cheek, “Be safe tonight, okay?”
Annabeth flushed from the kiss, but retorted, “I can take care of myself.”
“I know you can.”
“Ready, Perce?” Leo said, striding towards the door. Percy nodded.
“Bye,” Annabeth said, waving with the hand clutching her wallet, “Have fun.”
The door had barely shut before Annabeth was attacked with squeals about how attractive Percy was.
“Where the heck did you find him, Annie!” “Where can I get one?” “It’s like you bought him at a Build-a-Boy.”
“You have no idea,” Annabeth muttered.
____________
“I will trade you two ballistae for your war elephant,” Frank said, pushing a pile of chips towards Nico.
“Fat chance, Zhang,” Nico said, “We’re not letting Hannibal go for some ballistae.”
Frank and Percy and Jason had gotten on well during capture-the-flag today and invited him to come along to the bachelor party. Percy had felt a little weird crashing since he had met all these guys just this morning, but there was something about being at a summer camp that accelerated friendships — like how when you would meet a kid at the playground and be playing like you were best friends five minutes later.
They had set up a nice spread at the lake dock, beer, chips, cigars (just for show, Nico was the only one he held one in his mouth and it was unlit) and, as Piper had promised, board games. They were playing a game called Siege that Frank had brought over for Camp Jupiter. It was super complicated with lots of pieces and points and bonuses so Percy had teamed up with Frank for the first round.
Leo pulled up a folding chair to their table and handed out beers, “Who’s winning?”
Jason grinned, pushing up his glasses, “Me, who else.”
“My bad, I’m slowing Frank down,” said Percy, “I just can’t wrap my head around the objective of the ‘Octavian’ card.”
“No one ever does,” Leo chuckled, “Doesn’t matter though, Percy came by the girls’ cabin earlier. You’re winning no matter what. The ladies love you.”
Percy grabbed a handful of chips, “Shut up, Valdez.”
Jason shuffled his cards, “He’s right, Percy. You got Annabeth, that is quite the respectable feat.”
“Oh?” Percy said. He recalled Rachel always talking about her roommate during Romeo & Juliet rehearsals, and he remembered seeing her and thinking she was them most beautiful person he’d ever seen at opening night so getting to know Annabeth today had been a dream. He could tell right away she was not someone to be messed with, but it was interesting to hear about her from her childhood best friends.
The conversation had finally pulled Frank away from his card game strategizing, “Annabeth’s scary.”
Will piped up from the edge of the dock where he was strumming his guitar, “It’s true. I’ve known Annabeth since we were seven and one time she punched this one camper in the face when he tried to give her a flower.”
“She always wins capture the flag. One, because she’s an awesome battle strategist, but also because everyone’s too scared to find out what’s going to happen if she doesn’t win.”
At that moment, Reyna, Jason’s best woman, came over, “I started a bonfire if you guys want to roast hot dogs.”
“Oh, heck, yes,” Jason said, abandoning the game, “You’re the best, Rey.” Jason pecked her on the cheek. She lovingly shoved him.
Leo followed him, “Yeah, RA-RA, you are the best.” He also leaned to peck Reyna on the cheek, but she held up a hand.
“Don’t even think about it, Valdez.”
“You want to grab some hot dogs?” Percy asked Frank.
“Nah, I’m good. Still stuffed from dinner.”
“Same.”
Will and Nico also decided to stay behind at the dock with them. Nico was on his umpteenth beer and nicely settled in his chair, and Will leaned against him, still strumming a tune on his guitar.
Frank set down his cards, “How did you and Annabeth get together if I could ask?”
Percy cleared his throat, he and Annabeth had repeated the story many times today, but he still needed to be careful to keep things as vague and close to the truth as possible, “Rachel directed a show I was in, and we met at opening night.”
“I’m glad you made it past her hard exterior, not a lot of people do. She is scary, but it’s because she’s guarded.”
Percy nodded, he loved hearing more about Annabeth, “How old were you guys when you met?”
“I was sixteen, she was seventeen. Being a teenager really just is the worst, I felt all awkward and huge, but she helped me out. She cares a lot, and once she cares about you, well, let’s just say she’s a great person to have on your team. But you know that.”
“Right.” Percy had of course noticed right away that Annabeth was a guarded person, but they were so easy together. He felt a jolt of pride that he too got to experience the softer, caring side of Annabeth that really only her childhood friends experienced.
“Who’s a great person to have on your team?” Luke had wondered over from the bonfire.
Frank reddened. Percy cleared his throat, “Annabeth.”
Luke paused. “Oh, uh, yeah. She is.”
“I know,” Percy said, holding his gaze.
“Look man,” Luke said, “I’m sure someone filled you in, and I know it’s awkward—”
“Oh, I don’t feel awkward,” Percy said, “Sorry if having your ex’s new boyfriend around makes you feel awkward.”
Frank’s head ping-ponged between Luke and Percy.
Luke’s gaze hardened, “I don’t know what you’ve heard about us—”
“Yeah, man, fuck you for real,” Nico barged in, slurring his words, “You really messed up with Annabeth, that was such a dick move. Wasn’t it a dick move, babe?”
Will stood up with his guitar, and hoisted Nico up from the chair, “I think it’s time for us to go and put this one to bed before he says anything else. Come on, babe.”
Jason, Leo, and Reyna returned with a plate of roasted hot dogs and buns. “You two leaving?” Jason asked.
Will nodded, motioning to Nico slumped against his side, “It’s time.”
Percy stood, too, “I’ll go with you. Jason, thanks so much for letting me crash your party. Goodnight everyone.”
As Percy walked through camp back to Cabin 3, he let his thoughts wander to the blonde that had been on his mind since opening night of Romeo & Juliet. He was so surprised with himself when he received that call from her and immediately said yes. Truth was, he had already been planning on asking Rachel for her number. He honestly would’ve been her date to this wedding for free.
_____
Annabeth was so drunk.
She had been pissed at Thalia, and flustered by Percy so she coped by being Piper’s drinking buddy and took shots with the bride all night.
The lovely bride-to-be was currently weeping in her sister’s lap in the backseat of the car. “I just, hiccup, love Jason so much, Drew,” Piper wailed, “There’s just, like, so much love in me for that stupid, hiccup, dumb blonde.”
Drew had taken her sister-of-the-bride duties well and took care of them that night, including rounding them all up from the dance floor to bring them home at midnight. She smoothed Piper’s hair, “I know, sweetie, it’s because of mom. She really fucked us up in the love department.”
Everyone else was also in various stages of inebriation — Thalia was pouty, Hazel giggly and happily, and Annabeth was feeling brave and confident and was laser-focused on one thing — Percy. She wanted to see him and his stupid hair and stupid green eyes and stupid cute smile now. They say sober thoughts are drunken actions, and she needed some action with Percy.
The car dropped them off at the Big House, and they stumbled as a sloppy, bachelorette amoeba to Cabin 10. Drew did her best, passing out makeup wipes and finding everyone sweatshirts to trade for their alcohol and sweat soaked dresses. Soon, Piper and Hazel were snoozing and tucked into a bunk bed. Annabeth had thrown her hair into a ponytail and pulled on a camp shirt and yoga pants. She could always hold her liquor so her peak drunkenness manifested as a confident buzz.
Drew had already slipped on a matching silk pajama set, “Annie, you wanna sleep here? There’s room.”
“No thanks, I think I want to sleep in my own bed.”
Drew grinned, “Use protection, Annabeth!”
_______
Percy’s dreams always took him to the water. He was surfing. He was swimming. He was a kid splashing in the water with his mom. He was swimming with a beautiful mermaid with long, flowing blonde curls. She was getting dragged by the current and getting tangled the seaweed.
“Hey!” bubbles spewed under his mouth, “The seaweed, watch out! The seaweed—”
“Percy.”
“Percy.”
Percy woke up to Annabeth sitting on the edge of their bed,  gently nudging him awake, “Hey, Seaweed Brain.” He sat up.
“Is it time to start getting ready?” he mumbled, wiping away drool.
“No,” she grinned, “It’s like two in the morning. You were dreaming.”
“Oh, um,” Percy flushed.
Annabeth stood and held out her hand, “Come on a walk with me, I want to show you around camp.”

The Codependency Competition Ch. 10
Ok, so I just realized that I'm way over 1M readers if I add all of the websites I have this story on together. And I'm in shock. You guys are so great, and I love the support I always get. It's really reassuring to have people say that they like my story because, to be honest, I was really nervous about posting this story. And now that we're on the last chapter, it's a little surreal to have so much recognition. But enough of the sappy stuff. I can do that after the actual chapter. So be ready for the spillage of my heart. Oh and the pic at the top does not mean anything, just in case anyone is hyperventilating right now.
Also, I just got a new keyboard for my monitor and I'm not quite used to it yet, so if I make a mistake, please don't point it out. I appreciate it. That's also why this chapter took longer than usual to finish BTW.
Oh and if you still reading these, good for you! Not like you wanted to know or anything, but I'm eating a whole lot of Sour Punches right now. It's extremely unhealthy, but do I care in the slightest? No. Not at all.
Stay safe and happy reading!

P.S. go to FF and answer my poll there. My name is Ocean.breezzq cuz for some reason they don't allow underscores on FF.

How did he end up in this position? Honestly, Percy could not for the life of him figure out how he got himself into this one.
He is currently standing in front of a full-length mirror, with his mother trying to figure out which tie he should wear. They had narrowed it down to two: a deep blue or a thin black one. He didn't see how it mattered, but apparently it does because his mom had been fussing over it for the past ten minutes. He was about ready to just not wear one. It was already bad enough to have to wear a dress shirt and pants (he had adamantly refused to wear anything but his converse).
But of course he was standing around and taking it because it was what Annabeth wanted, and what Annabeth wants, she usually gets.
"Mom! Just choose already! At this rate, we're gonna miss the dance altogether!" he exclaimed.
Sally sighed, "Oh, Percy. I can guarantee that you're going to be a little bit late. Annabeth still has a lot to do before you kids can leave!
He resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Clearly, his mom did NOT know Annabeth. She's the farthest thing from a girly-girl, only Clarisse could beat her. There's no way that she's fussing about getting ready as much as his mom is. If anything, she's already done and is just sitting in their room watching Youtube. Yeah, that's what she's doing...
That was NOT what she was doing.
In fact, Sally wasn't far off. Annabeth was on a FaceTime call with Piper, Thalia, and Hazel trying to figure out which lipgloss she should wear. She already had her hair and dress done. Her hair was styled in just a simple French braid, and her dress was nothing special. She was sure it cost a lot, but Sally hadn't let her see the price tag.
As soon as her and Percy had agreed to going to the dance, Sally had dragged to the mall to find a dress. She seemed so excited, so Annabeth had just let her shove dress after dress onto her until they found "the perfect match." Whatever that meant.
Anyway, Annabeth had only called her friends because she wanted to get their opinion on how she looked. However, she had ended up getting into an argument about when the appropriate time for makeup was. In her opinion, it wasn't required for school dances. Piper and Thalia thought differently. Hazel didn't want to voice her opinion because she was still getting used to common modern practices.
And that's how she ended up here, fretting over what lipgloss she should use. Sally had let her borrow her makeup bag because Annabeth's consisted of a single tube of mascara and an unused clear lip gloss.
Piper thought that she should use the pink lip gloss that Sally gave her, but Annabeth didn't want to be too flashy, so she wanted the clear one.
"You NEED to use the pink one, Annabeth!" Piper said.
"You already forced me into putting on mascara and blush, so I don't think you have the right to make me use the pink one," Annabeth stated factually.
"Oh my gods, 'Beth! Can't you just use the pink and get it over with? This conversation is exhausting," Thalia sighed.
Annabeth resisted the urge to stomp her foot like a child and responded with, "No! I can't! It's my body, so my decision!"
Piper was almost literally pulling her own hair out, but she told Annabeth in a deadly calm voice to "Put on the dam pink lip gloss before I charmspeak you into doing it."
Figuring it was an endless cycle, Annabeth just sighed and applied the pink lipgloss. When she finished, she stood back from the mirror, and gave herself a once-over. She would never admit it, but the pink kinda looked good.
"Happy?" she asked Piper.
"Extremely," was the deadpan reply.
"Ok, guys. I've gotta go. Talk to you later," Annabeth said, moving to sign-off.
Before she could, Thalia screeched, "Don't forget to tell me what Percy's reaction is! I want details!"
"Yeah, sure, Thals," she said and finally ended the call.
That was exhausting. And she still had a long night ahead of her. Great. Why did she want to do this again?
Back with Percy, his mom had chosen the deep blue tie. She said it brought out his eyes, or something like that. He honestly started tuning out what she was saying after she mentioned hair gel.
They had thirty minutes until the dance started, so he wasn't exactly joyous. In his ADHD brain, he was wondering if there was some way that he could skip the dance without being in trouble. Probably not.
And that's when he saw her.
She looked more than beautiful in her grey and gold dress and silver heels. Percy was pretty sure that his mouth was hanging open, but he physically could not close it. Sure, he'd seen Annabeth a little dressed up before, but never like this. For one thing, she'd never worn heels before.
He was speechless.
"You're drooling, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth stated, walking up to him.
That shocked him out of his reverie, "Huh? Oh! You look amazing, Wise Girl."
Annabeth laughed. It sounded so carefree, but on the inside, she was a nervous wreck. Just as she was about to walk out to meet Percy, butterflies swarmed her stomach. There were so many ways this could go wrong, and she hadn't even thought past seeing Percy yet!
"Thanks, Perce," she said, a little tersely.
Percy picked up on her mood, "Relax, 'Beth. Everything'll be fine. This was your plan, remember?"
"Yeah, you're right. Athena always has a plan. We're going to be fine," thought she sounded like she was trying to convince herself more than anyone else.
They both turned to leave, but was abruptly stopped by a yell of protest from Sally, "Just where do you two think you're going? We still have to do pictures!"
Percy groaned, and Annabeth looked like she was trying to suppress one. Sally is great and loving, and kind, but she could be really embarrassing sometimes (especially when it came to Percy).
"Really, Mom?" Percy asked, turning back around to face his mother.
Sally sighed, 'Teenagers', she thought.
"Yes, really. This is one of the few times you get to act like a normal teenager, and I want to capture the moment ," she responded, "Plus, this'll be useful when you get married!"
Both Percy and Annabeth blushed bright red. Leave it to Sally Jackson to make a perfectly casual dance into a conversation about marriage.
Even so, they stood through the seemingly endless amount of photos. Once they were finished, Percy was practically dragging Annabeth away from his mother. The faster they got out of there, the least likely they would be ambushed for pictures again.
In the car, Paul's Prius, they were discussing their plan for the night.
"Ok, so what's the game plan?" Percy asked Annabeth, keeping his eyes on the road. (safety first kids!)
Annabeth sighed at her boyfriend's immaturity, but answered nonetheless, "We act like everything is normal. Well, our usual normal. We show up together, and stay together. Got it?"
"Yeah, I think so," he answered.
"Good, because I made it foolproof for your sake, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth teased, taking one of Percy's hands in hers.
Percy grinned that dopey grin that always made her heart melt, and then her mind clouded over, as per usual. How can he have this effect on me?, Annabeth wondered as she struggled to come back to herself.
Unbeknownst to her, Percy knew exactly what he was doing. It was all part of his charm, as Leo so tactfully put it once. Slowly, Percy was coming to realize what little action he could do to break through that rough shell that surrounded Annabeth. Not many people could claim to have that ability, so he was grateful he was one of the chosen few. Then again, they had been best friends for almost six years. He had some experience to put it lightly.
Anyway, they were almost at school. Time seemed to slow down as they pulled into Goode High's parking lot. Every step towards the gym–which was where the dance was being held–seemed to last an hour. The anticipation was rising in both of the demigods.
Percy and Annabeth both looked over at each other for comfort at the exact same time, as if their thoughts were one and the same. They didn't even have to speak for them to understand what was going through the other's head. They were both nervous beyond belief.
As they approached the double doors with colorful lights pouring out from under it, Percy squeezed Annabeth's hand, glancing at her and asking, "Ready?"
"As I'll ever be," she muttered, reaching to open the doors.
Annabeth wasn't sure what she was expecting...maybe a movie moment where the music stops and everyone moves to stare at them? Or for everyone to start bombarding them with questions as soon as they stepped through the door? Whatever its as, she was sure it couldn't have been what happened.
Nobody noticed them.
The dance just continued as if nothing had happened. Maybe one person here or there would do a double-take at seeing Percy Jackson with his arm wrapped securely around Annabeth Chase's waist, but nothing more than that.
It was all very disconcerting. Or maybe the proper word would be anticlimactic? Yeah, that sounded better in Annabeth's head...
Oh! There she goes again, letting her control slip from her ADHD brain! Get a grip, Annabeth!, she practically screamed in her head.
She hadn't even realized that Percy was pulling her by the hand somewhere until they had already got there. He had spotted their friends talking to each other at one of the tables. That brought another question to mind: When did that happen?
"Hey, guys!" Percy greeted, high-fiving one of his friends (Annabeth was pretty sure it was the one named Jack), "What's up?"
All of their friends gave Percy incredulous looks. Percy was just trying to act normal, like Annabeth said, but apparently they hadn't gotten the memo.
"What's up? What's up?! You too are dating, and you're just acting like it's no big deal!" Nora exclaimed.
Oh, that's right. Most of Annabeth's friends hadn't been briefed completely. They must still be stuck in the shock of the reveal. Annabeth wasn't sure why they were making such a big out of it. It wasn't like they had announced they were getting married, or anything. They were just dating. What's so surprising about that?
And Annabeth asked exactly that, in her best accusatory tone.
Nora looked a little shocked before stuttering out a response, "Well-I mean-um...he's him and you're you!"
Not the best answer, Nora, Percy thought before grabbing Annabeth before she decided to gut her friend. He made it look like he had just casually given her a hug, but if you looked closely you could see how Annabeth's nails were digging into his wrists.
"Easy there, 'Beth. She didn't know what she was saying," Percy whispered in his murderous girlfriend's ear.
With one deep breath, Annabeth relaxed her rigid posture, finally letting it go.
"I apologize for keeping something as big as a relationship from you. I hope you can forgive me," she forced out in a robotic voice, clearly rehearsed beforehand.
Percy smirked, but didn't comment on it. He just went over to talk to his friends while Annabeth caught her group up on everything.
The rest of the dance went pretty smoothly. There was SOME dancing, but not much. Annabeth and Percy may have improved on their dancing skills slightly since Westover Hall, but it was still a little awkward. Even after almost 2 years of dating...
Just as they were about to retire for the night, the casual mood changed. Well, more like the entire gym's atmosphere darkened.
Kelsey Evans was blocking Percy and Annabeth's path.
Annabeth outwardly groaned when Kelsey started to advance toward them. Just as things were seeming like they would work out fine, the devil incarnate had to show up.
"Hey, Percy!" Kelsey chirped with her too-high voice.
"Hi, Kelsey. We were just on our way out, so can you move please? Or is there something you wanted to say first?" Percy asked, strangely diplomatic.
"Well, you see. I've been hearing about some CRAZY rumor going around that says that YOU are dating HER," she answered, saying 'her' with an expression of disgust.
Annabeth internally seethed. She was having to dig her nails into her palms just to keep herself at bay. She was so close to snapping, it's a wonder Kelsey was still breathing.
"It isn't a rumor. We are dating, and have been for almost two years. Can you move out of our way now?" Annabeth said, forcing herself to not call Kelsey some nasty words in Greek.
Kelsey faced Annabeth, her flirty look changing into a pitiful glare, "No. You don't deserve him! He belongs to me!"
Even Percy was having a hard time not punching the girl, and he's been taught not to hurt women that can't defend themselves. Well, that last part was added after he had first sparred with Annabeth.
"First of all, back off. Second of all, Percy isn't an object, he's a person. More specifically, he's my person, so you can go away now before I do something I can guarantee I won't regret," Annabeth walked up close to Kelsey, voice deadly calm.
Of course Annabeth was aware of the crowd around them forming, but that wasn't going to stop her. After 'that place' nothing could scare her up here, especially not a weak mortal girl.
Before Kelsey could respond, Annabeth shoved her out of the way and tugged Percy through the door.
Nobody spoke for a long time, but eventually Percy got up the courage to say something, "That was BA."
Annabeth smirked but didn't say anything. She was still coming down from her adrenaline/anger high, and she was afraid that what came out of her mouth would start a fight, even if it was with Percy.
Then Percy couldn't think of anything else to say, so he just shut up. At least, he did until they were changing out of their formal clothes into their pajamas. Annabeth was in their room, and Percy was in the bathroom.
"Are you done?" he asked.
"Yeah, come in," Annabeth responded.
Percy then walked in, threw his clothes somewhere near his overflowing hamper, and plopped down on the bed next to Annabeth. She was sitting up in bed reading some architecture book that he could never understand.
"Hi," he said, turning onto his side and looking up at her.
"Hello, Seaweed Brain," she said, not even glancing up from the words.
Percy sighed, So it's gonna be one of THOSE conversations, huh?
"You know I love you, right?" he asked, smirking his troublemaker smirk.
This tactic usually works the best when he's stuck in these situations.
A small smile played on Annabeth's lips, but she still refused to look up. However, she did respond with, "Yes, and I love you, too."
Percy pouted, stumped. What is so exciting about architecture? The only thing he likes about it is the way Annabeth's eyes light up as she rants about some random building he's never heard of before. That's the only reason he puts up with it. Or it's the only reason he'll admit to, anyway.
Just then, an idea popped into his head. And when ideas pop into Percy's head, everyone within a five-mile radius better clear out cuz' they can be destructive. However, this one was not that bad.
He gave Annabeth a light peck on her cheek, then slowly moved down to her jaw, then her earlobe, and then her neck. He could tell that it was starting to get to her because she hadn't turned the page for a while.
"Percy...," she warned.
He just smiled against her neck. Annabeth rolled her eyes, but relented. She set her book on the bedside table, and turned over to face Percy, giving him a deep, passionate kiss.
She pulled away for a second, "You're such a Seaweed Brain, you know that?"
She only saw a glimpse of his dopey smile before she went back to kissing the love of her life, stress nonexistent in her mind.

Omg omg omg! It's over! I don't even know what to say! I just want to thank all of you guys, my wonderfully supportive readings, especially the ones who've been here since the beginning. You guys are amazing. I don't even know if I would've been able to make this story without the encouragement from you. So thanks.
Now, I think that's all the sappy stuff. I'm looking for a good beta, so if you are or know one who might be interested, please let me know. I'm also going to shamelessly promote my original series. Go check out "Secret Powers" and "Frozen Secrets"! They are the first two books in my three story series.
If you want to know this is Annabeth's dress and shoes from the dance:
Tumblr media
Now for the good stuff. Somebody mentioned that they would be interested in a Percabeth proposal, so I'm going to give it to you. Here's a little BONUS SCENE set in their future, but I'm not giving it a specific date, so use your imaginations and decide for yourself. Hope you like it!
ΩΩΩ
Percy and Annabeth were visiting Camp Half-blood, and they were enjoying a nighttime walk along the beach. Annabeth was remembering all of the wonderful memories she had at this beach. Her underwater kiss with Percy, birthdays, all of her dates with Percy. Nothing but happiness came with being at the beach when you love a son of Poseidon.
Percy was in a completely different headspace. His mind was full of nervousness and worry. He was so distracted that he didn't even realize when Annabeth stopped and turned to look out at the water. When he bumped into her, she just gave him a weird look and went back to her previous position.
His hand was distractedly fidgeting with the small, velvet box in his pocket. It felt like it weighed more than the sky, and he should know! What if she says no? What if I mess up? What if the ring doesn't fit? Oh, gods, she's going to say no!
Those were the thoughts swirling around in his brain, making it a whirlpool of stress. He knows that Annabeth loves him, and that he loves her, but she could still say no!
"Seaweed Brain? Earth to Seaweed Brain! Percy?" Annabeth's concerned expression brought him back to reality.
"Huh? Oh, fine. Just-I'm fine!" he said quickly.
She gave him an unimpressed look, but didn't push it. Truthfully, Annabeth had noticed his odd behavior recently, but she still hadn't figured out what was bothering him. But, she knew that he would tell her eventually, so she was REALLY trying not to figure it out beforehand. The last time he'd been this nervous, he was asking her to move in with her!
Ten minutes passed before Percy worked up the courage to do it. His reasoning was that he just had to get it over with. Annabeth's told him she loves him so many times, why would she say no? There was nothing to worry about! Nothing!
"Hey, Wise Girl?" he asked, turning to face her fully.
"Hmm?" she hummed.
He was about to just ask the question, but his stupid Seaweed Brain got there first, "Wanna go for a swim?"
Annabeth furrowed her eyebrows, "Umm...it's 7:30 PM and I'm not wearing a bathing suit. What about this scenario makes you think that we should go swimming?"
Percy decided that he might as well work with what he's got so he went with the first backup plan that came to mind: the best underwater kiss of all time. Ok, not the ACTUAL one, but he could make another air bubble. It's not like he hadn't done it before.
"I'll keep it warm and dry, I promise. Come on! It'll be fun!" he started pulling her towards the water, himself already ankle-deep.
Annabeth started to protest, but he had already gotten her in enough for him to be able to pull her in with his powers. And just as promised, she was still completely dry. She could feel the water on her skin, but it wasn't wet. She had long-since gotten used to the feeling, after so many years of dating Percy, but it still shocked her for the first couple of seconds.
"Fine," she said, and Percy pulled them both all the way under, quickly forming a bubble of air around them.
"I love you," slipped out of his mouth.
It wasn't like it was a big deal, but the way he said it, with so much love, froze Annabeth. What is he planning?, she thought.
An idea began to form in her head, but she pushed it away instantly. Better not to get her hopes up. That way there's no chance of disappointment.
"I love you, too, Seaweed Brain," she said, trying to slip back into her casual tone of voice.
They sat in a silence for about a minute, just watching the scenery around them, before Percy finally ACTUALLY worked up the courage to do it.
"I've been thinking..." he started.
"Uh-oh," Annabeth teased with a smile.
"About us. And our future," Percy said.
Annabeth instantly sobered. He sounded serious, and a serious Percy was a SERIOUS Percy. There was no in-between.
"Yeah?"
Percy took a deep breath, "Yeah. And I know we're a little young, but we've been together for so long, and I just think that it's time. And you've always wanted something permanent, and I want to be that for you. I want us to be that for you. So, Annabeth Chase...will you make me the happiest demigod in the world and marry me?"
It might not seem like much, but to Annabeth, it meant the world. This was exactly what she had been dreaming of for her entire life. She was so full of emotions that she could barely speak, but she was able to get one word out...
"Yes."
ΩΩΩ
Ok, that's it! I'm officially done with this fanfic! I feel like I could've gone on in the bonus scene, but I think that you guys should get to come up with your own version of their happily-ever-after. Anyway, there's a poll on FF and you should go do. It's about my next story.
And you guys know I need to give special recognition to my amazing beta reader! JJ, you took me on when I refused to edit my own work, and you made everything WAY better! You should ALL go check out nightskywithrainbows on Ao3. They write, beta, AND are a student! So kudos to you, JJ! You're the best!
I hope you enjoyed this! Stay safe and happy reading!

Moonlight Ballistics (Ch.3)
Emet Selch X Mature/Wol
Emet tries to coerce some information from the WOL, things get heated, things backfire!
“Perhaps a clear and unambiguous act of kindness will serve to win the trust you seem so determined to deny me. “ ~Emet Selch
A hand grabbed her shoulder, shaking her out of her stupor and jump starting her fight reflex. He was lucky she didn't pull a gun on him. Thancred Waters was always pulling dumb pranks on her so it was wont of him to startle her out of her daydream.
"Had a bit too much wine love?" He smirked as she gasped and held a hand over her heart. Night had returned to the Raktika Great woods with the destruction of its light warden, the light Aether absorbed into the warriors body and now they celebrated with the Night's Blessed. A large pyre burned into the center of the village, where music blared and people danced. Wine flowed freely to all their cups and the night was filled with a merriment that it had not seen in over 100 years. The Hero too had been celebrating with them but she felt as if something had pulled at her mind, some far distant memory that bit at her but stayed just out of her reach. Her head felt buzzed from wine and also from a sensation that was unfamiliar, not from the Aether that swam through her, but something else. Something heavy that was pressing against her psyche but would not show itself.
She shook the feeling away and smiled at her friend. "Definitely too much wine and too much dancing."
"Mayhap you need to clear your head for a moment. Go take a dive into the lake." He laughed.
"You going to join me for some skinny dipping?" She teased back with a coy smile.
"Wish I could but I’ve got a kid now so I’m off limits." The gunbreaker joked back.
The hero had to laugh too as she knew all too well the pressures of being a good parent. "Thancred, be sure to tell her...Minfilia…tell her everything she does good and don't be afraid to tell her you love her. In fact, tell her so much that she'll hate hearing it."
He sighed and his expression was solemn. "You're far more adept at this whole parenthood thing than I. How the hell do you do it?"
"Lots of coffee in the daytime and wine in the evening." She joked and he chuckled while walking back to the camp.
That lake idea wasn’t half bad. The hero hadn’t bathed since the battle with the light warden and the revival of her dear friend Y'shtola at the hands of Emet Selch, her skin was caked with dirt and sweat and dip into cold water seemed like the closest thing to a bath she would get. So, she forced her legs to carry her away from the encampment and towards the nearest body of water as the din of the celebration grew fainter and fainter.
But as she reached the lake edge and gazed at moonlit waters she was bothered. What had she been doing in those few minutes she had been daydreaming? She had been drinking and dancing and then there was a hole in her memory, a chunk of time unaccounted for as if her mind was neither here nor there. She was not drunk, slightly tipsy but not drunk enough for a full black out, and as far as she could tell, her Aether was still intact and holding well despite having absorbed three light wardens. Come to think of it, when Emet was regaling them tales of Zodiarks birth inside the Qitana Ravel she had felt the same thing. Looking at the cave murals of the two gods, she zoned out, completely blanked and spaced, for just a few minutes before snapping back to reality. She was never one to space out during missions as every moment usually meant life or death. What on Earth was going on in her mind?
The hero knelt by the water’s edge and began to strip off machinist leathers that felt too cloying, too tight against her skin in a way that was unnatural. She had worn those clothes for ages and yet right now, they felt foreign and cumbersome and she just wanted room to breathe. Stripping down to her white loose blouse she dipped a handkerchief into the cold waters and sponged her face and neck, staring at her own reflection on its surface. It felt foreign to her, like she was not really looking at herself and then she looked up at the moon, stood up and stretched her arms up trying to cup its radiance in her hands as if it were a child’s toy she could pluck from the sky.
Emet Selch’s eyes widened and he clenched his fist at his side while he watched her from the shadow of a nearby tree. Her sudden despondent behavior had not gone unnoticed and he made to watch her closely. This was all going according to plan after all and weather she slayed the light wardens are not was of no consequence. Either she was going to die trying or the light would consumer her in the end, both outcomes worked to his advantage weather she realized it or not. But knowing her, she most likely knew. So, then what was her angle? What was she planning to do about it? This cunning, this cleverness was what kept him coming back for more and it’s what most resembled her.
What a fireball Altima had been, her perceptive eyes, her burning heart, her anger, her love, her rage, her courage….he had been a moth to her flame and weather he wanted to admit it or not, he still was. They were two great and powerful minds always trying to outwit each other weather it was in the audience halls of the convocation or in the privacy of their own rooms, when they’re two bodies would intertwine with such ferocity and passion one would not know where one began and the other ended.
Emet gritted his teeth and shook the memory away. He had spent the past few Eons avoiding any and all her shards and now here he was “cooperating” with one. It was infuriating on one hand to see her so reduced in power but she retained enough of herself that it almost made him uncomfortable. If she ever knew what she really was and regained those memories, there was no doubt that she would destroy him. He was far too curious to let the opportunity slide even though he was breaking his own rules by contacting her but when had he ever followed the rules?
The hero groaned out loud as she rubbed her sore shoulders and yawned. “Emet Selch, did I not say that I prefer you where I can see you?”
“Indeed, you did.” He remarked as he stepped forward and joined her by the lake side. “But old Ascian habits are hard to break especially around someone as…renowned as you.”
“Ohhhhh I’ve become an Ascian boogie man!” She cheered and fist pumped the air. “One life goal fulfilled!”
“Oh don’t get ahead of yourself hero.” He rolled his eyes.
She laughed gently and looked back up at the moon, its light illuminating her face and sparkling in her eyes.
“You didn’t strike me as the type who cared for moon gazing.” He mentioned noting how entranced she looked.
“I don’t know why….it’s just tonight it looks exceptionally beautiful.” She explained. “I just want to reach out and grab it in my hands. Keep it in my pocket like a treasure and give it to my daughter….”
“You’re drunk.”
“I’m not drunk, I’m musing.” She corrected and wagged a finger at him
“You muse when you get drunk, trust me dear, we’ve bantered like this before.” He said with a heavy sigh and then put a hand to his temples, messaging the flesh as if warding off a headache.
"I wonder if its made of cheese, The moon. My daughter always asks me that. What do you think? Would it be swiss or guda?"
"Now you're just being silly."
"Brie?"
"Do you want me to snap some food into existence? Is that what you want?" Emet asked in a annoyed voice.
"I'm just playing with you." She reached over and pinched his cheek. "I know the moon is basically a rock that revolves around our earth due to gravity. I may be silly but i'm not and idiot. It would be nice to get a closer look though."
Emet groaned and slumped in exasperation. “Zodiark....If you vomit on me, I’ll be intensely and irrevocably pissed off and try not to scream either. I can’t stand the shrill voices of damsels in distress.”
“What in Thal’s Balls are you talking about?” She asked. as a strong arm grabbed her waist and hoisted her off the ground. Soft fur tickled her nose as Emet’s strong body pressed up against hers and up they shot into the air.
Luckily for him, she didn’t scream, but she put a death grip around his neck that could have chocked the life out of a chocobo as she clung to him. He thanked his human body for being so resilient as they continued up and up until finally stopping. Her face was buried in the fur lining of his jacket as he spoke into her ear. “Look up hero.”
“WHATTHEEVERLOVINGFUCKWEREYOUTHINKING?!” She cursed into his chest in a muffled voice.
“Just take a deep breath and look up.” He said gently and firmly grasped her chin in his hand, forcing her to look at him. The fear in her face from the unexpected inertia was evident as her eyes seemed to quiver in their sockets and her hands refused to loosen their grip on his collar, but after a few seconds she realized how close they were and cleared her throat. She took a shaky breath and finally looked up. Her eyes went wide and mouth slightly gaped open as she audibly gasped. The fear giving way to fascination when she noticed how close they were to the jewel in the sky.
Every detail, every crater and dune could be seen with the naked eye as a full moon greater than anything she had ever seen and closer than she ever thought possible, hung before her in the sky. They had shot up so far into the atmosphere that she literally felt like she could reach out and touch its surface. Its light washed over the both of them as they simply hovered there, basking in its glory. In all her life she had never seen anything like it, and that was saying a lot, for as the warrior of light life often handed her a barrage of surprises both good and bad.
“By the Twelve…..” She said in a shaky voice, her eyes refusing to blink or turn away from it.
“Does this satisfy your childish curiosity?” Emet finally asked after a time, keeping a firm arm around her.
She finally teared her eyes from the moon and settled on the man holding her. “What is this for?”
He raised a brow at her query.
“Why would you do this for me?” She couldn’t finish her sentence as she averted her gaze and felt heat on her cheeks.
He smiled at her discomfort. “You have slain no less than three light wardens and seem to be faring well….more than I had anticipated…. You have accomplished what no other could ever hope to. Such heroic deeds deserve appropriate rewarding do they not? Consider this a gift for entertaining me.”
“But I should be thanking you for bringing back Y’shtola.” She said as she squirmed in his arms, trying her best not to look down.
“That was a token of trust.” His smile turned sultry as he squeezed her waist and put a hand to her cheek. “I said what I meant and I meant what I said when we first met. You have no reason to doubt me but if you wish to reward me…..”He purred into her ear. “I will not reject any favor you show to me….and this time you don’t have your little guns to protect you.”
Her heart nearly stopped. By the fury she had left her gun by the lakeside and was too distracted by him and the wine to put back into her back holster! She shoved her hands against his chest. “Don’t you even think about it!”
“I’m thinking of nothing, sweet hero. “His lips hovered over hers mockingly. “Whatever has you nervous is the result of your own lascivious imagination.”
“Them’s fighting words, Emet Selch.” She growled against his lips.
“It would wound me for eternity if you choose falling to your death over sharing a small moment of intimacy with me.” He pouted but amply reminded her that they were a few good malms floating above the raktika great woods.
“You always twist something good into something nasty!” She cursed.
“Well I am an Ascian after all.” He chuckled, not giving her any room to escape.
“Ass is definitely part of it!” She agreed as she struggled but after a few moments she forced herself to relax in his arms and gave a very big exasperated sigh. “Oh for the love of…..okay…alright.” She said in a defeated voice and swallowed her pride. With her face burning she looked him over and tried to focus on his lips. They were nice shape, slightly pouty and moist, with all his eons of experience he was probably a fantastic kisser but this was uncharted territory for the Hero, she hadn’t kissed anyone in years and a certain atmosphere was needed for such things.
Her eyes moved up to his and she locked gazes with his yellow orbs. He was an enemy and yet he talked to her as if they were old friends, he grinded her gears, sassed her, chided her, goaded her in a way that only someone close to her could. He seemed to know all the right buttons to push and how to make her squirm with his words where other men could attempt the same thing and not get any reaction from her whatsoever. Who is this man?
Without thinking she reached up and cupped his face, studying him intensely, and in return he studied her. How her eyes seemed to cloud over for a moment, lids closing halfway as her mouth halfway parted as if in a trance. She leaned in slowly and pressed her lips against his and he graciously received them, surprised at her boldness and that she had managed to make the first move.
Their lips moved against each other’s slowly and gently until she bit down slightly on his lower lip. He grunted in surprise and allowed her tongue to slip into his mouth, caressing his and when the subtle warmth of her Aether mingled with his, he felt it. Power. So much power that her body could scarcely contain it all and yet it did, by either the grace of her Goddess or something else, it burned through her like a star in her core.
He pushed harder against her, his mouth dominating hers as he laced fingers through her hair, he wanted to see how deep that power went, what lay at its center and unlock all of her secrets. His darkness pushed through her light causing her to gasp and jolt in his arms but he held her still.  Their kiss bridged the power between them as he reached the peak of that burning star within her and caressed it with his own Aether.
People? Visions? Phantoms flashed behind his closed eyes as he traversed her soul, faces of several people, her own shards, friends and family revealed themselves to him. But when he tried to push further, his mind whited out, something blocked him and he could see the spirit of a man, who was not any of hero’s shards, standing like a sentinel at the gate of her inner psyche.
Emet had never seen him before, this tall elezen male with a sharp face and light blue hair. His eyes were closed as he simply stood there with a sword and shield in hand, a guardian knight who stood sentry within her against creatures like the Ascian who might try to invade her mind. The shield the knight held gave away his identity, a red unicorn head sitting atop a royal vine. Ah yes, the Ishgardian Family Crest for House Fortemps. This must have been Haurchefant Greystone.
The shade of Haurchefant spoke. “Does my lady know you are here?”
Emet eyed him suspiciously and could see that over the knight’s shoulder, he was shielding someone. For a brief moment he saw the familiar hue of silken hair and a crown of gems and flowers before Haurchefant stepped forward, hiding his ward from view, and opened his eyes.
“If she has not given you permission to come here, then I must ask you to leave. Your presence upsets her.” And with that he lifted his sword and swung it down hard and Emet was cast out of her mind with such a force he cried out.
His eyes snapped open as he broke the kiss with the Warrior of Light and they were as before, only the hero’s body was limp, her head thrown back, eyes closed and groaning as if in pain. The Ascian had probed too deep, causing the hero’s aether to repel him and most likely she felt the snap of him being cast out as keenly as he had. In her case though, instant unconsciousness was the result whereas for him it felt more like a slap in the face. Oh how frail these Hyuran creatures were.
Looking down at the Warrior, something possessive and inconceivable overcame him. “It couldn’t be, its simply not possible!” He growled in a low voice. A million thoughts crossed his mind at this revelation, for within the warrior lay a sliver of the one soul he both desired with all his Ascian heart to see again, but feared what would happen if he did. He had found Altima and this posed a myriad of problems to his well laid out plans.
He cradled the hero in his arms and floated back down to the earth, landing amidst the celebrating colleagues and startling them all into silence. The music stopped, everyone turned to watch him and Thancred ran forward at the sight of his friend limp in the Ascian’s arms.
“Dare I even ask what you did to her?” Thancred said as he took the hero into his own arms, Emet did nothing to protest and handed her over without a fight.
“She simply had a bit too much to drink. Her poor head couldn’t take much more “stimulation” this evening. A bit of rest should do her well.” Emet said cryptically. “See to it she is well cared for, considering how you rely on her so.”
Thancred scrunched his brow. “What’s that supposed to mean.”
Emet turned to go and gave a haughty imperial wave of his hand. “Never you mind. I bid a good night to you all.”

PTI GOVERNMENT INHERITED 4000 INCOMPLETE PROJECTS AND THROW FORWARD OF 1300 BILLION RUPEES -USMAN BUZDAR
With the compliments of, The Directorate General Public Relations,
Government of the Punjab, Lahore Ph: 99201390.
No.1044/QU/Umer
HANDOUT (A)
LAHORE, June 30:
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar said that he is thankful to Almighty Allah for the honour of presenting the 3rd budget of the PTI government in the new Punjab assembly building. The budget has been passed amicably, having no resemblance in any other assembly. The CM also thanked Speaker Ch. Pervaiz Elahi, Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, law minister, ministers and members from treasury and opposition benches as everyone have played their role in budget approval. Punjab Budget 2021-22 is the best statement in which every sector of life is well taken care of. It is a relief-oriented budget and the finance minister and his team deserve accolades. The credit of success goes to PM Imran Khan and I also pay tribute to the strong role played by the Pak army, NCOC, police, health minister and her team, chief secretary and others, he added.
While delivering his keynote address at the concluding meeting of the budget session at the Punjab assembly on Wednesday. The CM said when the PTI came into power in 2018, it inherited a throw forward of 1300 billion rupees and 4000 incomplete projects. Meanwhile, different cheques worth 56 billion were bounced due to lack of cash in the government kitty; the Punjab government took an overdraft of 41 billion, he said. The past governments also left many incomplete projects including the Punjab assembly building, Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology and Orange Line Metro Train, Trimmu Thermal Power Project, Pakpattan Hydro Power Project, Marala Hydro Power Project and PKLI. Meanwhile, I constituted technical and cabinet committees on January 26, 2020, after the outbreak of the corona pandemic in China and immediate preparations were started. People were afraid when corona patients were brought to Punjab from Tuftan, he said. More than 25 crore people were affected globally while 346036 were affected in Punjab and 10740 also lost their lives. Some people compare corona with dengue which is incorrect. We constituted a team and devised policies to save the province from economic crunch, he said. PM Imran Khan encouraged the Punjab government and gave guidelines. This tenure was full of difficulties and impediments and lockdowns were imposed to improve the situation.
The CM said the present budget is the best. It is the largest development budget and a 66 percent increase has enhanced it to 560 billion. Meanwhile, 25 percent special permission was approved from grade 1 to 19 employees to remove disparity in their salaries. All the employees are also given a ten percent Adhoc allowance. He said 185 percent increase in the development budget on health, 286 percent in higher education, 29 percent in school education, 306 percent in agriculture and 307 percent increase is made in the industry department. A 24.7 percent increase is recorded in PRA's receipts and more than 18 percent increase is achieved in the target of excise tax collections. He said that 400 percent increase is made in minorities’ budget and a 35 percent budget is reserved for south Punjab which is equal to 189 billion rupees. Similarly, 56 percent increase in the development budget of the energy department, 76 percent increase in irrigation, 70 percent in the road sector, 194 percent in livestock and 102 percent increase is made in the local government budget. He said that the district development package is introduced and the south Punjab budget is ringfenced. Punjab is the only province whose tax revenue target is surplus. The CM said that the pat governments started the Trimmu thermal power project without financial close. The PTI government succeeded in a 108 billion financing facility without a sovereign guarantee from local banks to complete this project. The CM regretted work on the new Punjab assembly building was delayed for 15 years but the PTI government got it completed through 2.5 billion funding. Similarly, the Wazirabad institute of cardiology which was lying pending for the last 15 years has been completed with an amount of 3.5 billion and 6.5 lakh patients have been treated. He said Lahore was given projects worth 67 billion during the 3rd year of the previous government excluding the orange line metro train but this government chalked out development projects of 86 billion rupees in its 3rd year. Surfaced wastewater treatment plants and underground tanks are being made in Lahore to store rainwater. Meanwhile, Dilkash Lahore, elected buses project, 1000 bed new general hospital, mother and child block in Ganga Ram Hospital and Children University Lahore are the some of the schemes designed for Lahore along with them, the CM said 25000 apartments project under LDA city, Shahkam Chowk overhead bridge, Ghulab Devi hospital underpass and Sheranwala overhead bridge are being constructed in Lahore. A world-class bus terminal at Thokar Niaz Baig, Lawyers Tower, Food And Drug Libratory and Local Government Academy is also being set up in Lahore. The scope of LDA has been limited to Lahore to improve its service delivery. The government has decided in principle to administratively divide Lahore and a decision will be made soon because of the population increase, he added.
The CM presented a comparison of 3 years of development of the PTI government with fudge development figures of the previous tenures. He said a 360 billion district development package is given, the foundation stone of the south Punjab secretariat is laid in Multan and another south Punjab secretariat will be established in Bahawalpur. Rules of business of south Punjab secretariat has been finalized and will be notified soon. he disclosed in-principle approval has been given to reserve 32 percent quota in provincial jobs for south Punjab youth and a proposal is under consideration to include Mianwali and Bhakkar in this quota which would then increase to 35 percent. He regretted that the south Punjab budget was spent on other projects in the past and only 17 percent of the budget was reserved for south Punjab. He said that a 118 percent increase is made in the overall health budget during three years and 369 billion is reserved in the new financial year. 1.5 billion is given for procurement of corona vaccine and 677 vaccination centres are set up. CH 3: Warranted Attention
Their arrival to Tailfeather was not a hard one after their visit to Master Matoya. The first order of business was to begin questioning the locals of any strange men wandering about in hopes of finding Thancred’s whereabouts. Just as expected, to find a Hyuran such as Thancred, was easily finding a needle in a haystack.
After questioning the hunters of Tailfeather, Gylian and company trekked to Loth ast Vath to pursue the rumors of a Vathic tradesman who had recent connections with Thancred. What they were not expecting, however, was his hunt for Ravana.
“By the Twelve…” Alphinaud said in awe. “What would Thancred hope to accomplish by seeking out a primal?”
“I suppose it wouldn’t be the first time he wanted to handle something on his own…” Gylian said. “Though I suspect he wouldn’t mind an audience.”
They made their way to Sohm Al in time to witness Ravana fading into the aether after his defeat. Though, it was not Thancred they found who had slayed the primal. Rather, it was the party before them who since turned to face them with equal curiosity.
Gylian began to feel the Echo fog her mind.
Visions of the warriors filled her head of their travel from the First onto the Source after defeating the Ascians from their world – guided by none other than Elidibus. The Western Thanalan savannah appeared from where she found Lamimi – and what revealed to be their rendezvous location. Gylian rubbed her head as her eyesight began to refocus.
The warriors, too, appeared to have recovered from just the same visions.
“Have care,” Y’shtola said. “The aether moves strangely about him.”
“Gylian!” Alphinaud hissed as she began to make her approach toward them.
“What is she doing?” Krile whispered. She turned to Y’shtola, “What is her plan?”
“Who said she had a plan…” Alphinaud said nervously.
Without a doubt she had no plan other than to confront this person who so strongly resembled her out of curiosity – and the others that evidently followed him. She stopped as soon as the Miqo’te’s mechanical bow loaded and aimed at her.
“Not another move,” she said with a growing smirk, her aim true. To have someone approach them so freely either made them entirely foolish, brave… or perhaps both.
Gylian reactively raised her palms to assure the feline. “Hey take it easy, Coeurl in Boots. That’s not necessary.” She looked at Lamimi, eyes wide from seeing the Hyuran again, and to the others who were glaring at her. “Am I interrupting, or is this a good time for a proper introduction?”
“Your unexpected arrival is introduction enough… Warrior of Light.” Albert spoke bitterly. He motioned for the Miqo’te to ease her weapon.
“However, mine apologies,” He turned away from his party, stepping toward Gylian, axe still in his grip as it rested on his shoulder. “J’rhoomale is not use to halfwits who are so eager to kill themselves. So, pray, you will have to forgive her confusion.”
He paused as he stopped just a few fulms in front of her.
“Can’t say that I fault her,” Gylian replied, briefly turning to her friends. “I’m sure they’ve wondered the same thing.”
Gylian observed him: his face already hardened, world-weary. Fraught with subtle scars and blemishes. A growing five o’clock shadow dusted his cheeks. Eyes the deepest blue. Though she was above the average height for a female Hyuran, he also appeared to stand just an ilm taller than she. And of course, the matching garb but for the discoloration – black.
“Is there a reason you did not come sooner? What with the primal, and all. Lost a step, have we?”
Gods, those eyes.
“Better late than never,” Gylian snorted, lowering her hands as she met his stare.
“You must think me a fool to believe that you are the Warrior of Light,” Albert chided her. “Is this a joke? Savior of Eorzea?”
“Kill the woman already, Albert.” J’rhoomale muttered, waiting with bated breath.
“Patience, J’rhoomale.” Lamimi said, her eyes not wavering from the pair. “This is the woman I told you about. I’m sure there is… a point to this confusion.”
“Well, you better believe it – though… the title was not of my choosing. The free meals help, nonetheless – just don’t trust those Goblins when they offer you anything, they’re awfully convincing… Have you ever had a Titan’s Spit? Knocked me on my ass once and I found myself spewing into an Ul’dahn fountain- “
Gylian flinched a step back as a leathered fist jerked suddenly at her.
“Is this a bloody game to you?”
“Whoa, whoa!” Gylian’s hands again braced in front of her. “Fine, I’ll get to the point – it looks like we both have a talent for killing primals. Would you care to, I don’t know, tell us who you all are?”
“I’ve lost my patience.” Albert said flatly. “Let us show them who we are.”
As if on cue, J’rhoomale lifted her bow, shooting into the air. Y’shtola swiftly moved into action, shielding the party from the volley of arrows above. Arrows pounded the ground all around them, Gylian narrowly dodging one of them. Immediately, the Roegadyn smashed into Y’shtola, flinging her lithe body away to the ground, effectively removing her shield.
“Y’shtola!” Gylian yelled, running to her friend. The Black Mage then blasted an orb into their party causing Gylian, Alphinaud, and Krile to tumble apart from one another, knocking them to the ground.
A ringing began in her ears, the sounds around her stifled. She lifted herself by the elbows in time to see Albert running toward her, his blade driven into the ground. Gylian seized her weapon in time to block it from smashing into her face, shoving him back with all her might.
She rushed to her feet as he straightened himself, then ducked a swing of his axe; the last thing she wanted to do was to have her weapon hit him. It was unfortunate he could not – or would not – do her the same favor.
“Fight me, Godsdamn you!” he ordered. Gylian jumped from another swing. Blade slammed against blade, his eyes piercing into hers. Her refusal to fight back only hasted his fury.
“Maybe another time!” she shouted over the grinding steel, shoving him back once more, feigning a swing of her axe whilst knowing he would dodge it like so. As she twisted herself for another swing, she suddenly felt herself lose balance from an arrow that still protruded from the ground.
“Thal’s balls!” Gylian cried, falling hard to the ground, her heavy Bravura hastening her fall.
Bloody fool, Albert thought, twirling his axe from one to both hands to prepare his final blow. He marched toward her, blade at the ready. He stopped just at her feet, peering down at her, weapon raised.
Gylian watched, hand raising in a pathetic attempt to block – yet somehow curiosity remained in place of panic at her enemy. Something about his demeanor showed reluctance – the deliberate slowing of his movements, the look of shame in his face that only she noticed.
He did not want to do it.
Did he realize?
Stilettos struck the ground between them, breaking Albert’s focus, and narrowly dodging Gylian’s feet. She quickly shuffled backward from them as Albert, too, jolted away. The two looked above to see none other than Thancred glowering down at them.
He arrived with such force, knocking Albert yalms away from everyone. Any feeling of guilt Albert felt had swiftly diminished as his new opponent appeared. A grin crawled across his face, knowing well that this man would not be holding back as the Warrior of Light had. He eagerly welcomed the challenge as they both charged forth, the clanging of metal echoed around them.
As their fight ensued, Gylian ran to her friends. “Is everyone okay?” she asked breathlessly.
“All but this incessant ringing in my ears,” Alphinaud groaned. “Seven Hells, this was like a repeat of Garuda. What were you thinking?”
“I just have a knack for these things.” Gylian said with pride, turning to watch the fight as Thancred narrowly dodged a swing of the axe. “But talk about good timing, am I right?”
Y’shtola rolled her eyes and smiled, “You certainly have a knack for somehow evading death’s door… Anyroad, at least Krile’s findings were conclusive.”
“Indeed! And look at him go! Perhaps Gylian could learn a few tricks from him? Like, ‘right time, right place’?
“Miss Krile, planning ahead was never my forte. And believe you me, it is better to hear me coming a malm away with an axe. Best to leave that to the Rogue.”
Gylian’s attention turned to Albert at the thought, observing how fluidly he moved now that she was no longer on the receiving end. He fought not unlike she did, though with a bit more refinement. While Gylian fought with her weapon like a toy, he fought with poise and precision. Perhaps that was the difference between them – she enjoyed the challenge; he simply wanted it to be over with.
In the break of the battle, Lamimi ran to Albert’s side, now speaking to him. While naught could be heard from afar, she could imagine the woman telling him that this escapade had taken much longer than intended – and hopefully best to leave them to their own devices.
“Not very sporty of you to interrupt! But so be it.” He called to them. Thancred, still in defensive mode, listened. Gylian and company began to regroup behind him, as Albert continued to address them altogether.
“Mark well our faces, for we are the Warriors of Darkness. Walkers of a different path… and we shall meet again.”
All was quiet after they disappeared, except for the sound of the wind blowing through the mountain and the distant sounds of wildlife that gradually began to fill the air once more.
“Any relation, Gylian? The Warrior of Darkness?” Krile asked, now ready to point out the likenesses between she and Albert. Thancred turned to her as well with the same quizzical brow.
He flicked one of her bangs, “’Tis a good question, Gylian – is there something you haven’t told us by now? One might think I was fighting your other half.”
Gylian swatted at his fingers, as she blushed at his remark, “N-No, no, not that all – I am just as confused as you are. Especially given this Warrior of Darkness situation. It might all just be a coincidence. But consider his face marked well.”
“…And chatty as ever, I see.” Thancred observed. “Do not think for a moment that I didn’t witness that entire silly situation you set yourself up for. An Ul’dahn Goblin?”
Gylian embraced him hard, feeling his tired smile against her neck as they held each other. “I can explain later. For now, we’re so happy to find you.”
“Let us make way back to Ishgard. Perhaps a few cups of cider are called for after today – and for the return of our lost friend.” Alphinaud offered. “Thancred, you need to tell us everything that has happened to you!”
