Second Circle, Ch. 1
Pairing: Elizabeth Donnelly x f!reader, shades of Alex Cabot x Olivia Benson Warnings: Smut, violence, references to alcoholism Summary: “We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell.” Based on a request for Liz/f!reader's first time, and my own desire to write a series about Liz navigating romance amidst chaos. Loosely inspired by the events of 2x21 'Scourge' and a few details from 10x8 'Persona'.
---
Although the wind rattled against the windows of the banquet hall and the pinprick lighting of the chandeliers overhead flickered, the murmur of the gala continued on.
The air vibrated, alive with the weight of the tension that had wracked the city in the past few weeks and no doubt fueled by the media machine cranking out headline after headline, each more sordid and gruesome than the last.
Melinda's grip tightened on your elbow as another group approached. Your heart quickened at the sight of short, gelled back blonde hair and the heady perfume that wafted over. Anxiety tore at your stomach with molten claws.
"Doc Warner, glad to see you've made it," a bloodhound of a man said, leading the pack. He gestured towards you with his whiskey glass. "Elliot and Olivia give you enough time to make friends outside the morgue? I must not be pushing them hard enough."
Melinda patted your back. Heavily lined brown eyes scoured you from behind the bloodhound, appraising the manner in which Melinda had touched you. A cold bead of sweat slid down the back of your neck.
"Always glad to see you on the right side of the concrete, Captain," The medical examiner teased. "Especially these days. But yes, believe it or not, I do have time to run in other circles." A man with a voice as calm as the creek that ran beside your childhood home piped up. "Pleased to finally get the chance to meet you," he said with an easy smile and a tip of the head. This man carried himself with a centeredness that was hard to come by, even across the crowd of New York City's top professionals that had congregated that evening. "I've heard about your efforts at Mercy General. I can't imagine what you've had to deal with as of late." It was a line you'd heard plenty of variations of recently, but his sincerity seemed completely genuine. Although his eyes were warm, inviting pools of black ink, you couldn't shake the feeling that somehow he knew. Melinda turned to you with a smile, oblivious. "As you can probably tell, Dr. Huang is our resident psychiatrist," she said. "And a fed, at that," came that harsh, staccato voice you had become attuned to. You bit at the inside of your cheek. The psychiatrist-fed's gentle smirk grew. Thankfully, a pasty, bird boned blonde intruded, reaching out past Huang. "Alexandra Cabot, assistant district attorney," she said, wasting no time.
You shook her hand, surprised at the strength of her grip. Studying her gaze, you got the sense that events like this were easier for her to navigate than they were for other members of the party. She sipped at her champagne lightly and looked around, her stare lingering on the elevators as if she either wanted to leave or wished for someone else to arrive.
"Can't forget her royal highness," the bloodhound Captain joked, gesturing to the woman you'd been struggling not to address.
Dr. Huang spoke again in earthen tones and an air of alacrity. "There's no need to bother, Melinda. The only reason the Bureau Chief wouldn't have led the introductions," he paused, "is if this isn't a stranger to her." Liz rolled her eyes. You subconsciously tugged at the sleeve of the sweater that hung a little past your fingertips. "If you're so perceptive, Agent, then why did a sixth girl show up gutted like a fish at Grand Central this morning?"
---
Liz Donnelly hated courtroom restrooms. She had since the 70's, in fact.
On this occasion, though, she tolerated the lavender soap and the lukewarm water as she used the mirror to study the other woman.
The younger woman next to her scrubbed underneath her nails with a precision so adroit it had to be practiced. "If you're trying to scrub away evidence," the Bureau Chief piped up, "do me a favor and be less obvious." The woman's eyes widened, eyebrows rising. Liz leaned over and tugged playfully at the name tag dangling from the pocket on the woman's scrubs. The woman paused. "If you're trying to flirt with me," she finally whispered, "do me a favor and be more obvious."
The bathroom door swung on its hinges and in strode Olivia Benson, the SVU detective clearly in a tizzy and blind to the way the Bureau Chief and her conversation partner jumped apart like two opposing magnets. The strands on the back of her glossy brown pixie cut stuck up. As the detective ran a nervous hand through them again, Liz understood why.
"Got tired of listening to Cabot try to grill a child? Don't tell me she needs me back in there." Benson shook her head, slumping against the paper towel dispenser. "He got another one."
The detective muttered a quick apology, shifting aside to let the woman in scrubs dry her hands. Liz swallowed thickly.
"Sexually assaulted as well, I take it?" Benson eyed the prosecutor. The detective nodded exasperatedly. "She was an architect. Single, wasn't a user, friends are all model citizens." Benson sucked in her bottom lip and bit at it. "No vengeful ex-boyfriend, at that. Seems she had a gambling habit, but I've know plenty of girls who play the ponies, and all of them are still very much alive."
"However disparate these murders seem, there has to be a connection. Better make good use of that overtime, or you'll have more blood on your hands," Liz jabbed, gesturing towards the sink. The detective's brow furrowed.
"So this is the support we're going to get from our new Bureau Chief? How the hell are-"
Benson paused awkwardly as the woman in scrubs shuffled out the door, paying no mind to the quick finger waggling wave she threw at the prosecutor.
Liz managed a brief smile.
Benson looked towards the door, then back at the wiry woman before her in the starched black pantsuit.
Had there been a window in this particular courtroom restroom, Liz had half a mind to climb out it herself.

The bloodhound, whom you now knew as Cragen, thumbed the facets of his whiskey glass at the sound of the announcement.
A gentleman in a well-pressed suit and white gloves had called out across the banquet hall. The gala wouldn't be ending at its scheduled time, due to "inclement weather conditions", meaning the whole ordeal was to proceed for who knows how long. Fortunately, the waitstaff were headed back with fresh bottles and hor d'oeuvres as an apology for the inconvenience.
"I don't mean to pry, but does this have anything to do with-"
He cut you off with a somber shake of his head. He turned to face you, the capillaries webbing along the corners of his eyes swollen.
"This is news to me."
Cragen turned and headed back to the bar with a sniffle.
"They're doing a reasonable job of keeping everyone occupied, at least," came an even voice from behind you. Huang joined your side. Jet black pools still held a mirthful twinkle.
"Tell me something. How long have you and the prosecutor been involved with each other?" "This is the first time Ms. Cabot and I have met," you stammered. "You know that's not who I meant," he countered with a soothing grin. "Forgive my intrusion. You don't have to answer, if you don't want to."
The psychiatrist's musings were an unexpected relief to you. You felt the dam within your chest begin to burst, allowing you to finally speak on something you had kept locked up to yourself these past few weeks. "I'll forgive you, but only if you tell me how you knew," you laughed, tension evaporating from the edge of your voice. Huang nodded to himself.
"That's not your sweater."
You lowered your glass. "It's too long in the arms," he said, gesturing freely. Huang was one of the few who had not been drinking.
"It's not like I have much time to see a tailor," you tried to riposte. "True, but the odds that you and Donnelly wear the same perfume are not favorable," he said with an air of one revealing a royal flush. "My guess is that either she gave the sweater to you, or you're wearing it out of convenience. Alternatively, she could've asked you to wear it, knowing you'd cross paths tonight. She appears to be rather domineering, so that would not surprise me if it were the case."
It took everything in you to fight back the heat that rose in your cheeks at the bounce of his eyebrow.
"You make a hobby out of judging women's perfume?"
"I was a profiler in another life. It was more than a hobby to judge everything about a person." Huang's gaze followed Cragen as he made his way through the crowd across the room.
"Makes for a good party trick, I'll give you that."
Huang paused before turning back to you. His expression held an odd seriousness to it now. "I get the sense that I'm not the only one playing party tricks tonight."
---
Alex Cabot hadn't known Elizabeth for long, but she already didn't care to know the woman much longer.
The younger prosecutor checked her Cartier watch once more, eager for any distraction at this point. Somehow, neither clock hand had so much as budged. She squeezed her eyes shut amidst the bubbling conversation of the crowd in the godforsaken hall and thought of wide, chocolate brown puppy dog eyes and pixie cuts, of handcuffs and coffee cups.
"Alexandra, that look is not becoming on someone like you," an airy tone wafted over.
Lena Petrovsky, New York Supreme Court judge. Fuck. At this rate, she half expected Barry Moredock to round the corner and lecture her about some constitutional disservice she also happened to be encouraging this evening.
"Running all-nighters with the SVU shouldn't be taxing on someone from Harvard Law. But really, you look like hell, try to get some rest after this circus," Petrovsky said, gesturing around them. "You won't be of any use to the city if you keep burning the candle at both ends."
Alex opened her mouth to speak, but a harsh voice speared through her.
"From what I've seen so far, Ms. Cabot is no stranger to circuses," Donnelly jeered.
Alex was certain some snide joke about her courtroom performances was incoming, but she paused, shrieks cutting through the crowd behind them.
---
"This just in: at approximately 11:07 tonight, NYPD discovered the body of a young woman in Central Park. The cause of death? A large wound along the victim's neck, a similar M.O. to the recent string homicides that have shocked the city this past month. Although signs of sexual assault were present, no information is available yet as to the identity of the perpetrator. Investigators have identified the victim as local self-portraitist..."
Liz looped her arm around your shoulders, tugging you out of the bar and onto the street.
"I am not ruining one of the rare nights we both have to ourselves with more of that fear-mongering," she said. You shifted under the weight of the fur coat she shared with you, pressing yourself against her side. Although her voice was firm, you could tell she was rattled. She led you past throngs of men and women in pressed shirts and cocktail dresses, club promoters, and a man stumbling toward you with a box of pamphlets.
"They didn't call me in," you mused. Your brows knitted in confusion. Liz grabbed hold of your chin.
"And they won't," she seemed to command into reality through sheer force of will alone. She brushed her thumb across your lips. Rain gently began to fall overhead. The lights of the cabs clogging the street blurred.
You leaned forward, slipped her thumb into your mouth, and lightly sucked on it.
The prosecutor smirked. You were pleased with the fact that she appeared slightly taken aback by your boldness.
"Come on," she said with a gaze that told you she was a thousand miles away already.
You felt her breath hot against your ear as she tugged you into the back seat of a nearby town car.
"I have something else for you to suck on."
---
"Top her off," Cragen said to the bartender, tilting his glass across the counter.
Across the room, the band still played. The peeling notes of the saxophone reverberated across the inside of his skull. A dull throb continued to pound at the back of his eyes.
Looking down into the amber liquid, Cragen studied the panes of glass that stretched across the ceiling. More rain, more wind.
He couldn't kill in this.
Cragen took a swig.
Elliot and Olivia were still at the station, sifting through tips and folders full of supposed eyewitness accounts. Munch was no doubt trying his best to hold down the fort, but even his endurance, battle-tested over years in Baltimore homicide, was waning.
The brass thought maintaining appearances would comfort the public, although the Captain wondered how all of this pomp and circumstance could reassure anyone but those New York elites with the most fragile of egos.
He took another sip, turning back to watch ADA Cabot and Dr. Huang engaged in what appeared to be a heated argument. At least, heated on the blonde's end. Nearby, Doc Warner was caught in Judge Petrovsky's line of fire. He chuckled into his glass, thankful not to be in the good doctor's shoes.
Further off, Donnelly and the woman Melinda had introduced the group to were headed towards the restrooms. Cragen squinted. The Bureau Chief, with all five foot something's worth of bluster, was leading the other woman hand in hand. Something Arthur Branch had told him once made him chuckle.
Cragen went to take the final swig of his whiskey to finish off the glass, but noticed it was still full.
---
You stumbled through the doorway of Liz's brownstone, her hands quick to pull down your skirt. The door slammed shut. Her mouth pressed hot kisses up the side of your throat. Deceptively strong hands gripped at your ass.
"Upstairs," she husked.
Something fluttered in your stomach. Although you had gotten used to the feeling of the prosecutor's clever tongue in your mouth after a couple coffee dates, the two of you had yet to cross the threshold, so to speak.
Her hands guided you around the corner and up the flight of stairs, toying at the back of your bra. The sensation of her fingers trailing down your spine broke your brain. There could be no anxieties at this point, no thoughts for that matter, only Elizabeth Donnelly and her teeth at your throat and her pillows now pressed up against the back of your head.
The prosecutor leaned over you, nudging your legs aside. She began to drag her knuckle up and down the rapidly dampening fabric that clung to your slit. Heavily lidded brown eyes met yours.
"God Liz, I need you...I need it..."
You were embarrassed at the whine, embarrassed with how wet you already were for the woman.
"Need what?" her voice came coolly. She paused her ministrations to press a finger up against your hole. "This?"
You squeezed your eyes shut. "Please..."
Liz chuckled and hiked up the sleeve of her blazer.
"Since you beg so pretty," she said, "I guess I'll have to oblige."
You felt her tug your panties to the side, the sensation of her pressing a few quick kisses all across your mound and lips sending your heart into a spiral. Shortly afterwards, she helped you kick out of them, and her hands slid up to caress the insides of your thighs. Liz dragged her tongue up through your folds, praising how good you tasted. You moaned unabashedly now, desperation rising to a fever pitch.
"So impatient," she teased from between your legs as she lapped at you. You fought back another whine, the cry dying in your throat as you felt her climb up the bed and tug your body against her. She snaked a hand between your legs and slid a finger into you.
"Fuck, you're tight," her voice strained against a few strands of hair matted against your ear.
Your chest rose and fell rapidly as you tried to reply. "Speak up, sweetheart," she cooed, easing another finger into you.
"I want you to stretch me," you panted, clinging to lucidity.
She bit at your earlobe with a growl, a third finger slipping inside you now. Your head spun at as you felt yourself adjust to take even more of her. The air was now thick with the wet, wanton sounds of her pumping inside you. With each thrust, she stroked at a spot inside you that brought you closer and closer to your peak.
"I-I can't last much longer," you sputtered. You pressed back against her, hips rocking up into her palm. She sucked at a patch of skin underneath your jaw.
"Then cum for me," Liz said, beginning to stroke her thumb along your clit. She curled her fingers inside you and allowed you to roll your thighs against her hand.
The tension gripping your body snapped, your mind careening into the darkness as waves of pleasure rushed over you. Liz kept up her pace, pressing light kisses across your face. She talked you through your orgasm in crisp, honeyed tones in a manner you'd spend the next few days dwelling over.
When your heart finally calmed, she withdrew her hand, savoring the taste of you as she rose up off the bed. You watched her with a confused look, eyes straining against the shadows that cloaked the bedroom.
Her hand threaded into your hair, cupping the back of your scalp. Suddenly, she met you from the side of the bed.
You felt her pull you towards her, your face soon nuzzling up against the fabric of her slacks.
She tugged her zipper open with her free hand.
You wasted no time in starting to cover her panties in kisses, rewarded with a groan as she lolled her head back.
"That's a good girl," she said, voice straining. "Keep it up."
You reached up and tugged them down, lips wrapping around her clit. She laced both hands in your hair, pulling you closer. You leaned up, catching a glimpse of her through heavy lashes.
A thumb caressed your cheek.
"I can't wait to cum all over that pretty face."
You sucked harder.
---
Liz led you towards the restrooms, which were just outside the banquet hall in a hallway not so generously lit. The darkness served the mood well, though. Her mind wandered to thoughts of herself draped over your back, your legs parted wide enough for you to try taking her strap, her hips rutting into you with a ferocity that'd leave you with bruises she was proud to give you.
She wasn't sure if it was the booze or the fatigue calling the shots at this point, but neither prevented her from noticing your hand tugging free from her grasp.
The prosecutor turned in time to catch sight of a white glove cover your mouth.

Next up for Nickelodeon era of shows, who is your favorite character from each of the mid-late 2010s Nicktoons shows (where quality improved and got better again, despite only one from this set thriving in Nick's success) you've seen like: Harvey Beaks, Pig Goat Banana Cricket, The Loud House, Bunsen is a Beast, Welcome to the Wayne, The Adventures of Kid Danger, Rise of the TMNT, Pinky Malinky, and The Casagrandes?
Harvey Beaks; Piri Piri. She's adorable, tends to steal most scenes she's in and her shipping episode with Harvey was both an unexpected treat (I shipped them after the mouse book episode but I honestly didn't expect it to actually happen). The show itself is one of Nick's best, and like all but exactly one fucking show here, got treated like crap by the network. I"m heading that off now as wether I liked a show here or didn't, nick's already bad habit of screwing over shows has reached it's absolute worst since the 2010's. I only think it's slowed down slightly due to streaming (with big nate and rebootgrats getting the shovel to the head instead), and nicktoons not being nearly as viable a dumping ground due to the changing landscape of television.
Ranting aside yeah, Harvey Beaks is a masterpiece, a really sweet , kind slice of life show with a wonderful cast, great art design and a lot of heart. Out of CH Greenblat's three shows it's the best, and Jellystone and Chowder are no slouches but it's hard to make a show this wholesome, wonderful and itself. There will never be another show just like harvey beaks but maybe one day we'll see something close to this level of warmth. For now though at least the chaos present in it is alive and well in jellystone.. for now. I don't trust it's future beyond this run. Warner is even worse.
Pig Goat Banana Cricket: I liked Goat. I just think she's neat. Yeah this show is fine. It';s not as mediocre as some of the "trying to homage classic nicktoons shows" before it. It has a neat ren and stimpy style art direction and setup so there's effort I just feel the shows central premise, the characters getting split up to individual adventures, while neat on paper... hurt what I saw of the show. Since the characters only interact in drips, it prevents your cast from developing a lot of chemistry. It was a novel attempt it just didn't work for me.
The Loud House: Luna. This blog's proud history makes that clear as my bi adopted daughter was the centerpiece for my first pride month on the blog and I shall return to her other spotlights again at some point. The show itself.. is fine. Ther'es a lot to like: I love the comic strip style to it: as a fan of the medium in a time when adaptations are either rare or keep getting canceled (Phoebe in her unicorn ) or left in limbo (Bloom CountY) i'ts nice ot have something like that. The show is far from perfect: adressing the elephant in the room the creator is a sex pest and while much like ren and stimply I don't let that affect my enjoyment as he was thrown out on his ass and thankfully unlike John K caught way sooner. (If sadly not nearly soon enough) and the current showrunners being doing the show for longer than Savino was on board at this point. As for the show itself it's status quo nature can be frustrating as after a while the show kinda gave up on doing story arcs or romance arcs for better or worse. Luna's relatoinship with sam is great.. but you COULD do more with it now their together, and instead she just kinda got rolled into the moon goats. That said the show's still charming I like it a lot and I request the creepier parts of the fanbase stay 50 feet away at all times. The show gets a lot of backlash for it's popularity, epsecially over some of these other shows.. but like say teen titans go (Which I have less respect for honestly), it's .. not it's fault. It's a solid show with some good laughs, not as good as it COULD be, but still better than it has any right to be seven seasons in and going. Will we get a magical dog who talks awkwardly? Possibly. But while the show somehow won the "not getting cacneld lottery" it's at least hung in their gracefully. Though I do think it should end at some point.. and also the live action version does not intrest me. If you wanted to do lincoln romance plot lines do them in the fucking animated show. and yes that's a sore spot with me.
Bunsen is a Beast: Hadn't seen this one, don't intend to. All the impression I get for this one is it's the most hated of the butch hartman quartet and the last thing he made before he burnt up allllllll his good will by being a raving jackass.
Welcome to the Wayne: Sarline was both entertaining and had a nice character arc. I wish i'd seen more of this show an di'td got a proper conclusion. That being said while I do think it's neat, I also think while not hte gravity falls ripoff it got shit for, Sarline and Ollie aren't exactly the same as captaion anxious and mablepalooza, I do feel the creators were trying to follow in it's footsteps, and did an okay job, the worldbuilding just felt like it was trying a bit harder than the effortless way gravity falls did it and the golden trio all taking after it in some way.
Ultimately I think Time is what's kinda hurt this show a bit: soon after it we got said golden trio of ducktales, amphibia and owl house, while around the time of this show cartoon network had steven universe still going and ok ko. I also hear great things about Dead End: paranormal Park and STILL need to get around to tha tone (and reading more of deadendia). This show isn't bad.. but it kinda pales to the shows following that kids solving mysterys in a spooky setting genre gravity falls helped explode in popularity. It's not it's fault, and it's admitely my own bias: the golden trio are some of my faviorite cartoons period, and Ducktales might be my faviorite and is certainly my faviorite disney channel show at this point. It's not bad but it just dosen't wow me the way it did when it first aired.
The Adventures of Kid Danger; I never watched this one. I don't intend to any time soon. Also haven't seen pinky malkiny and don't intend to just to get ahead of it now.
Rise of the TMNT: One of the best nick shows of this era and one that's honestly gotten better in my eyes the more I think about it. While Welcome to teh Wayne aged ehhly, Rise of the TMNT has only gotten better to me it's rough edges sanded over by it's talent, being one fo the few action shows of it's era and being one of the mos tunique versions of tmnt ever
My faviorite.. is Raph though it is very hard as I love all the boys this verison, I just love him as the cuddly big brother though Donnie as a mad scientst is a close second, leo is a close third as ben schwartz is a god and mikey is dead last but still adorable.
Rise excels by deciding to try something diffrent a move kinda needed since the previous two cartoons ahd done the most obvious directoins to go in with a reboot: the 2003 cartoon (still possibly my faviorite of the four, now five though at the time of this review I haven't watched tales yet), was a truer to the text version of the mirage comics after the goofy and fun 80s cartoon, and 2012 split the diffrence, having neat character arcs and some really dark turns, but also having a lot of the uhinged madness of the 80s cartoon and rebooting a lot of it's unique ideas for a modern audience.
So rise instead was it's own weird little bean, deciding to throw out the script as far as tmnt went with all four brothers having their personalities changed completely: They still kept parts of their cores with it: Raph's still a brusier, donnie still duz machines, mikey's still the joyful goofy one and Leo is still the most skilled.. but they shake it up a bit to great effect; Instead of a rageful hot head or a sarcastic asshole, Raph is a kinder frinedler big brother who actually gets to lead even if he's really bad at it. Donnie is a mad scientest and has no moral compass to speak of beyond a love for his brothers and an ego the size of the sewer, and Leo is radically cahnged to be a sarcastic goof off whose scared of his actual potetial. Mikey.. is jsut nice and kind which he's been before but works for me especially after the more manic cloud cuckoolander of 2012. April likewise kept her role as voice of reason (and her teenage status, which now seems to be the default going forward and i'm fine with that), but got a lerooy jenkins strength, a string of jobs that would make jonesey jealous and a desire to have one friend who isn't related to the werid whirlwidn that is her life. She fails at that but she got a goop monster for a girlfriend so that kinda compesnates.
The show took tons of other big swings, with most of the familiar rogues absent for most of the show (With only shredder having a major roll and only Baxter being a recurring threat out of the returning enemies) , magic being the focus instead of a side dish or something they just had to put up with, unique weapons, Casey being a girl and their enemy at first, and an emphasis on comedy that seemed like it might sink the show.. but instead worked in it's favor as it's humor generally worked and made the action and character moments hit harder. Rise is a show that had me a tad nervous to start.. but won me over easily with the first episode and kept me on board on and off for it's run. It's got gorgeous action, great humor ("STOP EATING POISON"), one of the best splinters in the franchise, JOHNNN CENNNAAAA, and a satisfying ending.. and then another satisfying ending with the movie, which still holds the crown as second best tmnt movie and only lost said crown because mutant mayhem happened. And while MM goes back to the more traditional personaliteis for the core 4 a bit (with leo being the exception being extra super awkward if still the responsible one, even beyond the 2012 cartoon), it keeps the "let's see what we can do with this" mindset and feels like a worthy successor to this universe. i may miss rise, but it stil lstands out as one of the most unique and fun entires in the canon.
The Casagrandes: Bobby. Loved him at first sight on the loud house. Granted it helps Carlos was awesome on Big Time Rush (Which despite having mostly noped out of live action nick at that point, I watched any time I caught it. IT's a big stupid cartoon and a nicktoon in all but being live action. ), but Bobby is nature's second most perfect himbo behind hank venture, a kind thoughtful young man who despite being dumbber than a sack of hammers, is still far more resourceful than he seems, a good son, a great big brother (both to his sister and to his Primos) , and the best man. Give me a bobbi and lori spinoff now. The show itself was great and during a mild slump honestly suprassed the original show. I'm sad it's gone and wish it'd gotten to stay longer. It's got a great cast, tons of diverstiy and while similar to loud house, has more than enough to set it apart and avoid being their clevland show: the urban setting, diverse cast and gay as hell main friendship (YOu can't convince me ronnie anne and sam are straight. Bi yes becauase they are but straight no), and lots of fun. I honestly need to watch more. Good stuff.

Entry 2: Crazy Rich Asians
"Crazy Rich Asians" tells the story of Rachel Chu, a Chinese-American professor, navigating her boyfriend Nick Young's extremely wealthy Singaporean-Chinese family and their cultural expectations. The movie shows the tension between Rachel's American and westernized upbringing and Nick's more traditional and very privileged world, with strong themes of race, cultural identity, and class all intermingled.
In particular, the movie shows how racial and cultural identities intersect with class and privilege. For example, there is a scene where Rachel is talking with Nick's mother Eleanor and Eleanor says "you're not our own kind" (speaking to Rachel). Rachel questions whether or not this is because she's not wealthy like they are but Eleanor responds that it is due to her being a foreigner, (Crazy Rich Asians 1:43). The exchange exemplifies how Rachel's American upbringing makes her an outsider despite a shared ethnicity. This parallels the "dual-identities" Asian immigrants faced in the 1800's as discussed by Takaki in "Searching for Gold Mountain" , often finding it difficult to balance heritage with the cultural and social norms of their new home (Takaki, ch.8).
Peggy McIntosh's concept of privilege (although not white privilege) is also very present in the movie. Nick's family's wealth grants them status and power and scenes like the ones shown below display that kind of privilege. In a way much like white privilege is easily invisible to those who are white, the privilege that is afforded to Nick's family also seems to be invisible, as Nick downplays his families wealth stating "we're comfortable" and behaving nonchalantly in first class as Rachel seems taken aback by the whole scenario (Crazy Rich Asians 0:12).
In the opening scene of the movie, Eleanor faces discrimination on account of her race when attempting to check into her hotel room. The manager states the the family may find accommodations elsewhere "perhaps Chinatown" (Crazy Rich Asians 0:00). This scene exposes how whiteness is upheld as the standard for respect much as Dyer speaks on in "On the Matter of Whiteness", a concept also spoken on by Collier Schorr when discussing Inez Van Lamsweerde's art in "Only Skin Deep" (Fusco and Wallis 385). Because of her race (or lack of whiteness), she is seen as not deserving of the same level of hospitality as that which would be given to a white patron. After Eleanor buys the hotel, the power dynamic switches, symbolizing how wealth can counteract the "issue of whiteness", a privilege not available to all.

Three Words Ch 7
Casey Novak x reader. Some Nick Amaro x reader in this chapter. Warnings: Language, smut, some more of the usual hurt/comfort.
It had been at least a week since the night you’d spotted Casey, but despite your heartbreak you seemed completely unable to steer clear of her. Part of you was still her friend, joining her for post work drinks, especially when others were involved, your heart unable to say no when she needed you, unable to push her away when she asked if you needed a walk home. Even more unable to bring up the other woman, you just settled for second best, knowing that’s how it had always been, knowing that you’d simply have to settle in life, it was already what you were used to, why change things now? It’s not like she changed things, disappearing from your apartment regularly during the night.
It was that Friday when you’d finally had enough, you’d spent half the autopsy complaining to Melinda about the situation, she’d obviously chastised you for continuing to sleep with Casey (despite her earlier encouragement, she was clearly on another ship by now). Thankfully you were at the point of anger, of frustration and you didn’t have to worry about any more tears spilling while you worked. It was when Amaro showed up, asking for specific reports on behalf of Olivia that she spoke up, a smirk evident on her face despite the mask covering her lips.
“Parker, you’re good, head out for tonight, it sounds like you need a drink.” You shot her a glance as she reassured you, moving into the change room while she talked with Amaro. You nearly jumped when you returned into the hallway, his voice ringing through the space.
“You wanna grab a drink?” It was this time that you didn’t miss the way his cheek dimpled when his lips curved up into a smile, the way his eyes softened in your direction.
“I..yeah..sounds great.” You gave him your most genuine smile, following him out of the M.E.’s office to his car.
You ended up at Dive 75, you honestly weren’t too surprised, the bar had board games spread throughout he tables, a little extra way to break the ice, and considering Nick had two kids, it was basically his niche by now. You both picked over some wings and mozzarella sticks, you’d surprised him with your choice of an Amber City Ale to drink. You let out a genuine laugh as you beat him in another round of connect four,
“Oh come on Nick, you can’t be this bad at this game, stop letting me win!”
“I promise I’m not!” You smirked, giving his leg a shove under the table,
“Yeah, sure..” Shooting him a grin as the waitress approached, both of your drinks having been emptied. When she asked if you wanted refills you glanced across to Nick, a gleam in your eye, “I’m ah..I’m good.” He met your eyes with the same gleam.
“We’ll grab the bill.” He shot you a wink, “Together.”
“Nick!” You tried to protest, but he was quick to insist he would be paying, he had invited you out after all. You paused briefly on the sidewalk out front, thinking about what Warner had told you, not to mention the way you’d clicked with such ease that night. Nick however was quick to beat you to it, yet again.
“I had a great time tonight Y/N..” He started, closing in on you, you felt your cheeks burn at the admission,
“I did too..” It only took a second, your hands grasping as his belt, his softly cupping your cheeks, lips meeting each other oh so gently, moving with passion. You moaned at the feeling of his tongue delving into your mouth, a hand wrapping around your back, tugging you against his warm body while your arms wrapped around him, lost in the taste and feeling of him against you. You let out a gasp as his teeth sunk into your lower lip, tugging it away from your mouth, the spark evident in his eye even as he spoke.
“Sorry..”
“Don’t be…” You breathed, face flushing, “I..uh..I’m in Midtown, you okay to drop me off?” He smirked at that.
“Sweetheart, as long as you’re okay with it I won’t just be dropping you off.” You practically launched at him at that, tongue plunging into his mouth, lightly moaning against how he was more than welcome to just drive you home.
It didn’t take long for Nick’s car to park in the garage of your apartment, you doing your best to not let your nerves overcome you as you giggled your way through the elevator ride. Dropping your keys on the entrance table you kicked off your shoes, shouldering off your coat to the rack while Nick did the same. Turning to him gently, a brow quirked,
“You…want a drink?”
“Did you?” He smirked back at you, already knowing the answer. You laughed in response, tugging him to you, if you were going to be that person, use him to get over someone else, why bother with the niceties. Your lips met in a crashing kiss that you immediately let him dominate, leading him backwards to your bedroom. Groaning at the taste of him against your tongue as you tugged his tie, eager to gain access to his bare frame. He was quick to slide his hands under your top, cupping and pinching at your tits, his hips thrusting against you at the moan it elicited. You were more than okay with him tossing your shirt and bra to the side, you nipped at his lip, smirking at him while you dropped to your knees.
Your hands made quick work of his belt, pulling his pants and briefs down, a vocal groan left your lips at the sight of his leaking cock. You gave his tip a soft kiss, humming at the salty taste of his pre cum before you sucked his length into your mouth. Nick let out a very audible groan, his hands shooting to dig into your hair, the feeling of your lips almost too much to bare for him. He did his best to be gentle as your mouth wrapped around his cock, the sounds nearly too much for him before you gave him a powerful suck, tugging off him.
“C’mon Nicky…fuck my face…” The look of surprise on his face caused you to chuckle, laying a long lick on the underside of his dick, your mouth staying wide open for him to take advantage of.
“Jesus Sweetheart..you sure?” All it took was a gentle nod and your lips closing around him before he began to thrust against you. Your nails dug into his thighs as you braced against him, the string of groans edging you on even worse than before. You wanted his fucking cock more than you’d ever imagined, feeling your panties dampening at the feeling of him hitting your throat. When he hit your gag reflex you pulled off, a sting of saliva connecting his cock to your mouth that he loudly swore at the sight of.
“Need you..” Was about all you could manage out before he grabbed you, tossing you against your bed, smirking at the way you giggled when your body bounced against the mattress. You thought he’d simply plunge into you, your hips thrusting up at the desire, surprised when his mouth met your cunt, a shake leaving your body. His mouth fucked you slowly, eager to repay you for your earlier actions. If you had ever throught about sleeping with Nick Amaro, you’d never thought he’d be this fucking talented with his mouth, lips wrapping around your lower ones, tongue plunging into you with ease, groaning at the taste of you, moaning for more. Your hands dug tightly into his hair, a string of swears leaving your lips, whimpers as your body shook against him, coming much quicker than you’d thought.
“You okay?” His voice was unbelievably soft as he pecked up your bare skin. Your head nodded, breath shaky as you grasped his cheek, pulling him into a deep kiss.
“Please…fuck me.” It only took a second before he smirked at you, you pulled a condom from your night table, passing it to him, he gave you a gentle kiss as he slid it on. His cock hit your clit, causing your to gasp, hips thrusting up against his body, “P..pleasee….” You begged out. He wan’t one to deny you, sinking into you heat, groaning at the feeling of you around him.
“Fuck baby…you feel so fuckin’ good.” You whimpered at the feeling of Nick plunging into you, cock dragging across your walls in ecstasy, “Fuck.” He stuttered, “Look at how good you’re taking my cock. Good girl.” The praise had your head thrown back against the pillows, hands scrambling against Nick’s body, in any attempt to tug him closer to you, body thriving against his.
“Nick..please…I’m gonna…” The words barely left your mouth before his fingers hit your clit, pinching and rolling at it, your hips thrusting against his even harder, whines leaving your mouth as you body shook against his, juices leaking over his thighs. His cock dragged against you a few more times before you felt him shudder, coming into the condom, his breath uneven and heavy as he disposed of it in the garbage.
“C’mere.” You gave a gentle sigh, more than willing to let his arms wrap around you.
“You okay?” You asked quietly, hand barely daring to touch his bare chest. It was almost as Nick could feel the hesitancy, grabbing your hand, pulling it around him while he shot you glance.
“Fuckin’ perfect.” He gave you a soft kiss, lips moving with ease against yours, free hand stroking against your hair. You felt like it only took a moment before you were lulled into a sleep against his body, surprised at the warmth he enveloped you in.
**
Letting out a brief sigh you rolled over, not surprised to find the bed empty. It’s not like people disappearing in the middle of the night was anything new, you didn’t know why you expected anything different at this point. You let out a groan of a huff, heading to the en suite, splashing your face with water, making sure to brush your teeth, you felt your body tense when you heard movement at the other end of your apartment. Figuring it must just be your imagination you hesitantly made it to the entrance, shocked to find Nick locking the door behind himself, a grin on his face.
“Hope it’s okay I borrowed your keys, you didn’t seem to have much for breakfast, or coffee.” Your brows scrunched, confused at the tray in his hand. He stopped, taking in the look on your face, pausing in conversation,
“You…you’re still here?”
“Yeah..” He gave a soft laugh, testing the waters, “I…I can leave if you want me to.”
“No…” You spoke softy, unsure of what you actually wanted, “I…I’m just not used to people staying over…they usually vanish in the middle of the night.” He gave you that usual cheeky smile, pulling you closer to him, kissing your forehead,
“I’ll leave if you want to, but I’m more than okay with staying.”
“I..yeah…that sounds great.” You gave him the best smile you could muster. You had to admit, the sex had been great, and you knew you needed to get over Casey, maybe O’Halloran and Melinda were right, maybe this was the way. You led him to your couch where you ended up spending the rest of the day laughing over t.v. and groaning over delicious takeout, snuggled up against each other until Olivia ended up calling him into work. Nick gave you a soft kiss, telling you he’d call you soon (though you highly doubted that) before taking off into the cold night

Separated ch.10 - Race to the Wishing Star!
Yakko talks to himself and realizes what's important. Wakko sings another song and learns about desperation. Dot appreciates and laughs with Marin. Salazar schemes.
Or, what goes up...
read this first chapter here
King Salazar was lounging in his throne, surrounded by fawning women, whilst overlooking the room. It was the second-to-last party celebrating his victory over Warnerstock eight years ago and he was relishing in the attention, praise, and pride. His coffers were full once more, his subjects were too frightened and downtrodden to do anything against him, and he’d heard no such peeps out of the horrible Warner children in years.
It seemed everything was once again coming up Salazar.
“U-Um… sir?” a meek voice called to him.
Salazar hummed and turned his head toward it, disinterested. A young man stood there, practically shaking in his boots. Perhaps a courier? Salazar blinked, then drawled, “Yes, what is it?”
“Um… N-News from the capital, s-sir,” he stammered.
“Is this really so important?” Salazar asked. “We’re celebrating; can it not wait until morning?”
“Th-The, um, chief of guard said it was q-quite urgent,” the courier explained, and Salazar sighed.
“Alright, then,” he said with a wave of his hand. “What is it?”
The courier gulped, then reached into his pack and pulled out a note. He unfurled it, then read aloud, “I-It appears that, um… that due to the negligence of the wall guard, Yakko Warner was able to escape the ci—!”
“What?!” Salazar boomed, shooting up straight in his seat. His shout echoed through the room and brought the festivities crashing to a halt. “What do you mean he escaped?”
“J-Just that, sir,” the courier squeaked. “A-According to the guards’ testimonies, Yakko Warner used his toon abilities to outmaneuver the guard and escaped before any of them realized what had happened. H-He left out of the southern gate, but otherwise, they don’t know where he is going. There’s already a search party under way.”
“I thought it had been too quiet,” Salazar growled under his breath. “Four years is a long time for a toon to simply be silent, no matter how hard it is grieving.”
“Sir?” the courier prompted.
“Nothing,” Salazar waved off. “Return to the capital; tell the chief of guard that I want every single possible update on the situation. Dismissed.”
The courier nodded, then scurried out of the room.
Salazar opened his mouth to give another order, but was interrupted as a booming impact shook through the room.
His attendees all gasped or yelled in surprise before murmuring to themselves about what happened. Many were starting to gather by the windows, where bright, ethereal light was coming in.
Narrowing his eyes, Salazar made his way from his throne to the crowd. The noblemen parted around him and he was soon able to peer outside, growling, “What is it now?”
Far away, in the mountains, a bright, glowing ball of light sat nestled between the peaks. It illuminated the night with how brightly it shown, and it seemed to call out to Salazar with its alluring glow. It looked like what Salazar imagined a star to be.
There was something… powerful about it. Salazar couldn’t quite place the feeling, but his instincts had never led him astray before.
His good mood was slowly returning.
“Perhaps tonight has not been completely ruined,” Salazar said, voice echoing through the room. “Look at this incredible gift the heavens have given me to make up for the mishaps of a mischievous toon. A star of my very own.”
There was a moment of silence before one brave nobleman started clapping. Soon, the whole room was applauding Salazar and the star he had claimed as his own.
He basked in it for a moment, the anger over the debacle with Yakko Warner draining away from him, before holding up his hand and silencing the room. “I will claim it tomorrow,” he said. “Let us forget the wretchedness of those annoying toons and continue the celebration of me, your king.”
The crowd cheered and the music started up again. Salazar made his way back to his throne. He sat and gazed out upon his subjects, the old feeling of victory still swimming in his heart.
He didn’t know what he was getting so worried about; those kids had been nothing for than a mild annoyance. His men would find the boy, bring him back (or perhaps not, if you catch his drift), and everything would be as it should be. Truly, he was getting worked up over nothing.

Artemis Van Kirk is an asshole. There are times where you’ve almost killed each other from how strong the rivalry was between you. But it wasn’t always like that. You had been friends once but your families had said otherwise. Before you knew it, you were pitted against each other and always competing for things you didn’t even want.
6′0 or 182cm. She has smooth porcelain skin, grey eyes and an athletic build with long wavy raven hair that reaches to her waist. She normally keeps it twisted into a braid or flowing loose over her shoulders, tucked behind her ears.
Lyra/Leone/Leith Alcove is what you call "righteous". They always try to do what they think is right, putting criminals behind bars, even if they wear a badge. They’re too curious for their own good and always puts the lives of others before their own...a habit they seem to have.
5′7 or 170cm. They have light bronze skin, hazel eyes and a very toned build from time spent in the gym.
[F] - Has straight shoulder-length, dark brown hair that’s always tied up into a ponytail.
[M/NB] - Has buzzed dark brown hair, usually covered by a baseball cap with "SLPD" written across in bold.
Serai/Silas/Shea Warner often has a smile on their face. Sometimes strained, sometimes genuine but almost always tired. They’re a celebrity in Sinner's Lament, having become one if the top surgeons in the city. Everyone knows that if you ever need trustworthy help, Warner is the one to call. And much like Alcove, they suck at taking care of themself and their stubbornness doesn't help.
5′9 or 175cm. They have fair skin, green eyes and is slim and toned that some would call a “model” build. Their dirty blond hair is loosely curled and cut down to their chin that is occasionally combed back with gel or just tucked behind their ears.
[F] - Wears a dark shade of red lipstick.

Chapter 2 of my OC fic is up! Here’s the link to it on ao3 if you wanna read it there!
CH 2:
He was done.
Alan had finally finished them. He stared down at his three creations and smiled.
They came out better than he expected. They looked like… well, teenagers. It’s just as his boss had wanted.
The first one to be completed was Yakko’s replacement.
Rather than the simple outfit the oldest Warner was known for, this kid had been completely changed. Alan wanted him to be able to appeal to a teen audience, so he gave him a more punk aesthetic and aged him up two years.
He wore a purple leather jacket with a lavender long-sleeve shirt underneath. He had gray jeans that were torn at the knees as well. His ears were pierced too with two earrings on each of his long ears.
The second one was Wakko’s replacement. Alan aged him up as well to be fifteen. He decided to completely do a one eighty with this one. Wakko’s was the hardest to do with his personality being a complete wacky mess, so Alan took that out and made him a bit more refined. He also made him the tallest of the three because he felt that it fit his personality more.
This one wore a red vest with a white button up underneath and beige khakis.
Finally, there was Dot’s replacement. She was pretty easy to do.
Alan kept all her cute traits, but made her more tomboyish and aged her up to be thirteen. She wore blue overalls and a light green t-shirt. She wore earrings like the first one except she only wore one on each ear.
It wasn’t long before the animator got them animated and talking.
Thankfully, they all seemed pretty tranquil compared to their predecessors. They didn’t talk too much either.
Well, except for the oldest, but that was to be expected. He was loosely based on the Warner that yaks.
He sat the three toons down on his couch, so he could explain how their meeting with Nora would go.
“Alright,” he finally said, standing in front of them, “tomorrow is a big day for all of us. I just want to prepare you all-”
“You finally gonna cut that man ponytail of yours?” The oldest asked with a smirk.
The taller one snickered.
“W-what? No…” Alan reached back and ran his hand through his hair self-consciously. “I meant-”
“Don’t be mean, Zach,” the young girl said.
Zach, the oldest, looked down at her. He rolled his eyes. “What? That’s what we were all thinking, right?” He nudged his brother.
The other tried to keep a straight face. “No,” he lied.
Alan sighed, ignoring the last comment. “Look, I need you three to take this seriously. Tomorrow we’re meeting up with Ms. Norita, the CEO of Warner Brothers studios. I need her to find you three likeable enough to land you a show. I also need you three to be on your best behavior, okay?”
“‘Course we will,” Zach stated. “We’re little angel’s, aren’t we sibs?” He put an arm around his sister. “Button here is probably the best behaved we got.”
Button tensed up a little and pushed a stand of hair from her face. “Uh… mhm.” She nodded shyly.
Zach crossed his legs and leaned back on the couch. “Besides, I think we’re pretty likable little bastards.”
The tall one who was sitting on the end of the couch perked up his ears. “Who are you calling a bastard, you idiot?”
“It was a joke, Jack. Relax,” Zach told him.
“It’s Jackson,” the other corrected.
Alan rubbed his temples. “I’m being serious! You three need to get it together and act normal!”
Button tilted her head. “But we are normal, aren’t we Papa?”
Alan froze.
He wasn’t quite sure how to respond to that.
He shook his head. “D-don’t call me that.” He gave an audible sigh. “I- I mean, just try to act as though you’re not cartoon characters. I just want you all to stay quiet while I do the talking. That’s it.”
The three of them looked at each other.
Zach looked up at Alan. “So, what’s in it for us if we do this, Pops?”
“Stop that,” Alan said. “I’m not your dad. I just made you to—”
“So should we call you mum then?” Jackson asked jokingly.
The other two laughed.
“Stop it!” Alan snapped. “I’m being serious here!”
The three of them stared up at him. The oldest still had a smile on his face. Alan leaned in closer to him.
“Okay Mr. Funny Guy,” he said, “you think this is some kind of joke?”
He looked down at his fingernails as though they were far more interesting than what the older man had to say. “I mean, with that look on your face, I’d say so.”
Alan shook his head. “Oh, I bet you’ll be laughing when they lock you three in the water tower for sixty years, won’t you?”
The animator had an idea. He just had to give them a little scare to set these kids straight.
Zach looked up, but Button was the one to speak. “The… the what?” She asked in a soft voice.
“The Warner Brothers water tower,” Alan explained. “That’s where they trapped your predecessors. After they acted out of line, that’s where they were stuck.”
Button brought her knees closer to her and hugged them. “Th-that can’t be true. They were just kids, w-weren’t they?”
“Yup. Younger than you three even. The executives don’t care. They’ll get rid of you at the drop of a hat and leave you for dead if any of you step out of line.”
Button circle closer to Zach, who put an arm around her.
Jackson spoke up this time. “That… They won’t do that to us… will they? I mean, we haven’t done anything yet.” He crossed his arms tightly around his chest.
Alan gave them an exaggerated shrug. “I wouldn’t put it past them.” He looked at the oldest. “So, is it still funny to you?”
A dog-like whimper escaped the teen. “Uh, not when you put it like that… sir.”
“Good. So, you’ll be good tomorrow?”
The three of them nodded quickly.
“Excellent! It’ll all be fine as long as you three do as you're told.”
-
“Alright Harris, you better have something good for me.”
Nora sat at her desk and gave him an intense stare. She had her hands clasped together and firmly in front of her on the desk. She was prepared for whatever Alan had to present for better or worse. Hopefully, for his sake, it was for the better.
Alan straightened his tie and smoothed his unkempt hair back. He took in a deep breath and smiled.
Dear god, he hoped these kids were going to be good enough. He was really scared of losing his job over this. Or worse… he couldn’t think of what could be worse in that moment, but there was probably something worse that could happen!
He was sweating like crazy. His hands were damp as he clasped them together.
Come on Al, he told himself, they’re great. You got this.
He cleared his throat.
“I-I do, Ms. Norita! There were a few inconveniences, a-and it took a lot of work to get them right, but-”
“Just get on with it, Harris,” she said sternly, checking her watch. “I have other meetings, you know.”
“Yes!” He blurted out. He cleared his throat again. “Uh, yes. Now, let me introduce you to my new Animaniacs. They’re just out here.”
He opened the door and motioned for his toons to enter the office.
Zach, Jackson, and Button entered the room. They stood up with their backs straight, trying to look as best they could.
Nora pushed up her glasses and stared skeptically. They certainly were… something.
The drastically different designs intrigued the CEO though. She was curious to see where this was going.
Alan stepped behind them and smiled nervously.
“Now, they aren’t exactly the Warners siblings,” he explained. “When making them, I kind of intended to separate them from their successors.” He cleared his throat nervously. “S-So, they’re more like replacements than actual reboots of the characters-”
“I don’t care,” Nora interrupted. “Just tell me about their personalities. Are they going to appeal to our modern audience?”
“I hope so,” Alan muttered to himself.
“What was that?”
“I-I said I’m sure of it!”
“That’s a lot of stuttering for someone so sure,” Zach commented. He covered his mouth immediately.
Alan gave him a look.
Nora raised an eyebrow. “And who are you?” She asked.
Zach glanced up at Alan quickly. “Uh…”
He gave him a nod to answer.
“Zachery, Zach for short. I’m the oldest sibling,” he said, taking a few steps forward.
Nora looked him up and down. “Interesting…” She stood up and walked around her desk to him. “Tell me a bit about yourself, kid.”
“I’m… I guess I’m the leader. And I follow orders pretty well too. I’m pretty smart and… yeah…” He put his hands in his pockets and kicked the ground softly.
“Hobbies?”
“Lady, I was literally born yesterday. What the hell do you want from me?” He told her.
Dammit Zach, Alan thought.
She put her hands on her hips and pursed her lips. “What about your siblings?”
Zach took one hand out of his pocket and pointed to his sister. “That’s Button. She’s the cute one.” He pointed to Jackson. “And that’s my younger brother, Jack. He’s more of the quiet one. Got a bit of a temper too.”
“Do not!” Jackson exclaimed. “And it’s Jackson!”
“Pl-please stop,” Button said softly.
The CEO held up a hand to silence everyone. “I think I’ve seen enough.”
Everyone went silent. All eyes were on her.
She brought out her cell phone and dialed a few things. She looked through a few things and finally looked up.
“I think they’ll do nicely.”
Alan’s eyes widened. “W-wait, you mean it?”
“I don’t play games, Harris,” she said. “According to statistics, teenagers and young adults are into the whole relatability aspect of characters, and the sibling bickering and sarcastic nature is just what we need. The emo look is in too.” She pulled on Zach’s left ear and released it. “With a few good writers and a bit of acting, these three can make us a quick buck.”
She pressed a few more things on her phone. “I’ll order a pilot episode,” she continued. “We’ll get a few test screenings and have a script ready to go by… as soon as next month!”
“S-so we’re not getting locked in the water tower?” Button spoke up.
Nora shook her head. “Wha— No, of course not! You three are going to bring in some good money. As long as you don’t cause chaos like the Warners, you three should be fine.”
The three of them loosened up.
Zach sighed. He turned to his siblings. Button ran up to him and wrapped her arms around him. He ran a hand through her hair and pulled her close.
Jackson had a smile on his face. He turned to Alan. “We did it Pa!” Jackson stopped. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to…”
Alan put an arm around him. “You know what? I don’t mind right now.” He was too relieved to care what they called him.
He was just glad he’d get to keep his job.
And the kids were glad they weren't going to be shut inside a water tower for sixty years.
Still, for one of them, it lingered in the back of his mind.He was scared of what would become of them if this pilot didn’t do well.
And rightfully so.

Bay Area, California’s reigning kings of heavy hardcore first stormed onto the scene in 2007 with their debut album: 'The Will To Survive'. Taking influence from bands like BLOOD FOR BLOOD, HATEBREED, and MADBALL; LIONHEART came out swinging with a full-blown assault of blistering metallic hardcore. They quickly followed it up with 2010’s 'Built On Struggle', 2012’s 'Undisputed' and years of nonstop touring. Following a short break after the release of 'Undisputed', the band came back stronger than ever with 2014’s 'Welcome To The Westcoast'. The album debuted at #1 on both iTunes Metal and GooglePlay metal charts. LIONHEART stormed onto the scene again in January 2016 with 'Love Don’t Live here'. The album title, a nod to a classic R&B/ Motown song by the same name, shows the bands unwillingness to conform to the typical 'hardcore mold', as well as the bitter and unforgiving lyrical content the band is known for. November 2017 saw LIONHEART unleash 'Welcome To The Westcoast II'. A sequel to 'Welcome To The Westcoast' (2014), the album brought forth a new era in California Hardcore, and saw them again debut at #1across the iTunes Metal charts and Google Play metal charts. Now, after two years of relentless touring around the globe, LIONHEART returns with their most punishing album to date: 'Valley Of Death'. Backed by a combination of blistering metallic hardcore and heavy west coast groove, front-man Rob Watson offers a window into a life of torment, violence, and an unrelenting will to overcome. LIONHEART are: Rob Watson | Vocals Nick Warner | Guitar Walle Etzel | Guitar Richard Mathews | Bass Jay Scott | Drums
