ㅤㅤㅤㅤthe battle of a woman was waged in her birthing bed, surrounded by blood and sweat. alicent hightower forced herself to accept this reality when her father officially made her a political pawn in an endless game of manipulations. the prize was the hightower blood immortalized in the twisted metal of swords forming the iron throne.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤaegon was an easy birth, without concerns. fragile helaena presented herself to the world silently, carrying a tranquility that would follow her later. and y/n was fire and blood —perfectly embodying the words of her house, her father's house.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤconsidered a jewel in the eyes of the court and engraved in the memory of popular imagination, y/n was the third child of the union between viserys targaryen and alicent of house hightower. she inherited her father's gentle and pacifistic nature, trying to cling to blood ties to avoid conflicts.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤ(and when her mother whispered in her ear that helaena—or even she—would be the queen, the young girl looked away, coldly ignoring the treacherous poison. however, in her heart, she lacked the strength to stop loving her mother.)

ㅤㅤㅤㅤshe was often seen in the company of her siblings, helaena and daeron. despite loving and respecting her relatives equally, aegon made her feel disproportionately uncomfortable, and aemond easily left her aside, seeking acceptance from rhaenyra targaryen's children for not having a dragon.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤ"no, thank you!" y/n declined with a plastic smile when her mother suggested accompanying aegon to keep him in line. "i promised to help my sister, with little joffrey."

ㅤㅤㅤㅤand, as usual, she pretended not to feel the dissatisfaction emanating from the queen at the mention of the realm's delight.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤcriston cole made it his personal mission to escort the princess to the vicinity of princess rhaenyra's chambers. and she had to admit that he at least tried to conceal the growing disdain in his stern features. he even managed to control his cruel tongue, much to the young princess's relief. deep down, she was aware of the vision cole had crafted regarding her: immaculate, chaste, and flawless.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤy/n's confidant, addam celtigar, chuckled upon hearing the youngest princess's account. his broad shoulders shook violently as whispers flowed through her lips, revealing an unpleasant revelation.

The AUDACITY to open with Corlys crying just ripped my heart out I think that would be more pleasant. Corlys only had two scenes this episode and yet he loomed over the episode like a blanket of angst.

Aegon’s injuries are horrifying. All that priceless Valyrian steel was ruined, melted to his skin, and practically fused to his body. Alicent sitting by his bedside, watching him, probably praying over him off-screen. Aegon is Alicent’s baby, her firstborn, her baby boy who came into this world without fuss, now burned and broken and barely alive.

Melos reminds me of Qyburn. He seems to be more than just a “maester” and more like a modern-day doctor. If Aegon suffered these injuries in GOT’s timeline, Pycelle would’ve simply declared him past help and let him die.

First of all, Alyssa Targaryen is just as gorgeous as I knew she’d be. Second of all, why the seven hells is Daemon having Sigmud Freud’s wet dream?? I understand Daemon’s having hallucinations concerning his ambitions and his guilt, that’s all well and good, more power to him for attempting to work through his issues. But why does Daemon wishing he was born first need to be shown by him having sex with his mother? He’s hallucinated others before so why couldn’t he have hallucinated Baelon and Alyssa instead?

Aemond is slaying as always. His scene at the small council table is impeccable and really speaks to his character. Quietly, but forcefully taking the power he believes he’s deserved.

Alys Rivers my absolute BELOVED. She is so interesting every time she’s on screen and it always leaves me wanting for more. Alys asking Daemon about Alyssa makes me think that she sees the hallucinations Daemon’s been having. She’s also probably the cause of them.

Helaena asking Aemond if “the price was worth it” as he stares at the Iron Throne was priceless. She knows what Aemond did to their brother and she believes it, unlike Alicent who doesn’t wish to belive it no matter how much she knows it’s true.

Alysanne placed a withering hand on her granddaughter's shoulder. "Such is the fate of some women," she replied with gentle sympathy. "Easy to conceive but difficult to carry the child to term. It truly is cruel of the gods to inflict that sort of pain." At Aemma's request that she speak to Viserys if the pregnancy failed, the queen simply shook her head. "You mustn't end this pregnancy in your mind when the babe has barely started to grow. Who is not to say that your babe should not be born thriving this time?" She then sighed. "But of course I will talk to him if the Stranger comes for your child again, in or out of the womb. You will not be forced to keep enduring this under my watch."

Even though Aemma was not in the mood to speak to anyone, she also didn’t have the heart to send the Queen away. Her grandmother had practically raised her and even though she sometimes felt let down by her as well, she was still the best of them. Face still angled towards the sun, Aemma sighed deeply, folding her hands in her lap. “I am not ready to go through all of this again. It’s only been three months. Why is it so easy for me to fall pregnant, if it never leads anywhere? That is much more cruel than not conceiving at all”, she said softly, averting her grandmother’s gaze. “If this fails again, can you speak with Viserys? Tell him to give me time? He does not listen to me.” Aemma looked over at the old Queen, tears forming in her lavender hues. Her grandmother had lost more children than her and though many also survived infancy, not many of them had grown up, even less were growing old. Aemma’s mother was dead, so were Aemon, Alyssa, Gael and Baelon. Now Aemma seemed to be repeating the same curse over and over again, except her children didn’t even get to take their first breaths most of the time. Being a Targaryen woman was not a kind fate, she often came to think. Maybe she should have married outside of the family and lived a quiet life elsewhere. One that didn’t ruin her.

prince duncan targaryen, lord commander of the kingsguard || elia martell x male oc

prince duncan targaryen was born the second son of queen rhaella by the year ending 260 AC. the young queen, still recovering from the difficult birth of prince rhaegar at summerhall, laboured for five nights and five days before delivering her son, nearly perishing in the process according to grandmaester pycelle who was convinced the queen would surely pass from blood loss. the queen was reportedly upset from the lack of a daughter for her first son to marry, perhaps if duncan  had been a daella, thousands of lives would have been saved for it.

king aerys was expected to be rejoiced at the birth of another son, securing his dynasty, but the already paranoid king was not. as prince duncan was not born with silver hair like his brother, mother and father but instead his hair was the colour of spun gold, or straw uncharitably, and eyes of lilac and green. rumours of the child’s fatherhood, many of whom remarked his hair was awfully similar to the hand of the king, was set before the prince had opened his mouth, just as it had been for king daeron ii. 

though misliked by his elder brother, who reportedly refused to hold him as a baby and shooed him off as a toddler in favour of the red keep’s library, prince duncan was never without friends. playing knights and dragons with the boys of noble lords and commoners alike, and picking flowers with girls and maidens. equally gifted with his lute as his brother was with a harp, prince duncan was a natural entertainer, always playing and singing songs and making sure to dance with every available lady of the court. 

though being liked doesn’t kill rumours, nor does being renowned by the smallfolk, and as prince duncan grew and grew past his brother, and his hair never paled nor his eyes rematch themselves, king aerys only grew more distrustful of his second son. knighted at five and ten by ser gerold hightower for nobly defending a group of young smallfolk maids from thieves, it was clear to the father that something must be done about his very westerosi son. 

years passed and as rhaegar took up the title of prince of dragonstone, prince duncan assisted tywin lannister in hand duties, perhaps expecting to take up the position, but that was not meant to be. ser gerold hightower passed unexpectedly in the year 278 from an infected wound, though nobody knew by who’s blade, and a new lord commander of the kingsguard. though expected to be given to older ser jonothor darry or impressive ser arthur dayne, the king had a new idea. his beautiful and gifted son, ser duncan, would be perfect for the job. the realm was shocked, but no more so than prince duncan himself. stripped of any chance of marriage and children, something the young prince had been eager for, any lands or potential handship burned to ash in the new kingsguard’s hands. 

the king must have been very proud of himself, and if sources are to be believed prince rhaegar was also secretly relieved at the appointment as well, but love for prince duncan, the dancing dragon, could not be killed so easily.
