several sentences sunday
Just some short thing I wrote the other day, as I thought about my new earth!Jayroy idea.
“I knew Cheshire, from my blink-and-you-miss-it tenure as a Titan,” Jason said. “I remember you were eager to leave at the end of that mission. Was that when you met her? Your daughter, I mean.” “You remember that? Were you already paying that much attention to little ol’ me?” Roy deflected. Jason regaled with such an unimpressed expression it rivalled Batman’s most glacial looks; Roy would know. “I was an impressionable teenager surrounded by fit heroes, just at the right age to mistakenly think you were all... cool.” Roy would allow that. The team had been even more of a fucking mess the first time Jason joined in. “I paid attention to most of you. And you risked yourself without powers, too. You stood out.” His tone was neutral, just as it’d been when he brought up Lian, instead of acquiring that soft-spoken, pitying cadence belonging to everyone else’s these days. Maybe that’s why Roy found it easier to talk; once, she’d been her favourite conversation topic. “Yes,” he said, “that’s when I met her. Though she didn’t start living with me until a year later.” “Dick told me about her, back then, just before leaving to space.” Roy thought about what other things about him Dick might’ve told him. It’d been obvious over the years that Dick’s memories occassionally lingered on Jason, marinating in pain and misplaced guilt, but he guarded them jealously, protective –just as he’d always been about Robin, despite Bruce’s appalling lack of parental skills when it came to introducing his two sons leading to a briefly bumpy start. It’d taken years for Roy to even hear a vague allusion to Jason taking care of an addict growing up, and knowing that, Dick might’ve not brought Roy’s own issues in front of the kid. Maybe Bruce would’ve had less qualms about it, if he'd thought it might keep Jason away from sneaking out to yet more dangerous team missions. He wondered what Jason had thought about it, if he'd thought about it at all. Even if he didn’t know then, he certainly knew now, and it didn’t seem to factor in his attitude towards Roy. “I wanted to meet her.” Jason’s reminiscing interrupted Roy’s thoughts. “I was curious, I’d never really met any babies.” Of course, that hadn’t been possible. Robin was murdered shortly after Lian came to live with him. Roy remembered that well. He had barely known Jason, and his impression on him didn’t go far beyond thinking he was a shy, helpful kid. But he remembered how affected Dick had been and, on a more abstract level, how affected Roy had been, hearing about a child’s death. For months he’d have a recurrent nightmare where Lian died wearing an ill-fitting Speedy suit, blood-stained red cloth hanging way past her tiny little limbs, too big for her. It was laughable, how little keeping her away from that suit, any suit, had mattered in the end.

always mixed feelings on red arrow bc. the better take on roy was 100% the one from before that, that contradicted that he would want to be GA in colorswap - like see roy in ga01, titans 99, devins arsenal mini, they all touch on this - and the like. development from outsiders era arsenal going into justice league member red arrow was. i mean it was iffy and as a member of outsiders roy was headlining that book along with dick and well with the jla. he was not. (i also reread rhe first couple arcs of titans 2008 (do not do this btw.) and hes there too but like. still! not a headliner anymore!). and then jla is also just. not as good as outsiders either lmao.
but its also like. but i WIKE it when roy is taken seriously and treated like a grown-up and a Big Deal A-List Hero 🥺
so ig i just. focus on the imaginary version where that development was 1) on panel and 2) good. and brother its nice in there
#roa/cfj never happened btw 👍 but thats also like#if i ever admitted it existed then i would fully hate red arrow as a concept for leading to that lol#but im also not willing to do that 👍👍 so.#dc#text#roy#meta#roy text

"I've been meaning to get into tMG" SLAMS HANDS ON TABLE. HI YOUVE COME TO THE RIGHT PERSON!!!! I am going to take this excuse to talk and run with it.
the album that CfJ is from, Transgender Transcendental Youth, is definitely a good starting point if you enjoy cry for judas! it has a gorgeous sound profile that I'm particularly fond of, and goes to some really significant emotional places. it's also one of the albums that feels really true and deeply resonant to me; for me it's an album about those weird in-between chapters of your life where you might not be in the best place and you don't know what the next chapter is going to look like, but you know you have to get there.
if you enjoy the intensity of CfJ and want more songs like that but also to get a good feel for the wider spectrum of their music, Beat The Champ might also be a good place to start! BtC is an album that's about wrestling in that it uses the lens of wrestling to explore a lot of different topics - community and life and how you're never the same person you used to be and the weight of expectations. it's got some fantastic upbeat tracks but also some gorgeous gorgeous slower ones and in particular the way it plays with sound and silences is something that I adore.
I don't really know enough about your music taste to recommend any other specific albums, but I am ALWAYS thrilled at an excuse to talk about tMG, so feel free to hit me up for recs!! :D
to the surprise of absolutely no one, the song I was referencing is Cry For Judas by the Mountain Goats! really fucking excellent song, the entire album is fantastic but CfJ is one of my favorite goats songs of all time <3
I've been meaning to get into the mountain goats and this is!!!!! yeah this is what I'm looking for!!!!!!!!
#tmg my beloved <333#cfj is like. that isnt even my most favorite song of theirs but it is MY song.#but yeah PLEASE feel free to hmu anytime about tmg i loveeeee talking ab their music!!!!#.lyr#the mountain goats

nobody really thought he will ever bag an Amal. >> Because he never said he wanted to get married and have kids, he never sold that image, he was seen as a guy who had relationships for two years and that was it. But he's a smart man, a six-time Oscar nominee, two-time Oscar winner, and a guy who talks knowledgeable about politics and soacial issues. He wouldn't marry less. Both are smart and successful together. Look at their site: cfj*org/
For sure 🦎

writing woes: august
(better late than never etc. etc.)
in general
Not a great writing month tbh lol. Mostly because I spent a while away and had little time for it. September is already shaping up to be better.
original fiction
I polished acts I and II while I remain marinating over act III. Not much to say on that ^^U. It'll continue to work on it this month, though it'll be a lower priority until November. My intention is to finish it then (and revise it in December), though certain IRL developments (good things!) are going to occupy my schedule from early October to early December.
fanfic
Slow but steady on my Young Justice WIP. I'm nearly at the Secret Identity Reveal and quite giddy about it, though I really need to polish all of these chapters (I'm speed writing through the story with the intention of really settling it later). I'll finish the fic this month so I can start posting chapters on October and keep with my self-appointed schedule. Here's a little excerpt from the first chapter, btw.
I'll link to this month's other excerpts: Jayroy post-CFJ/ROA, Damon & Elena, Marriage of Doom, Silver & Max Russian Doll AU, Jay(Tim)Mia Dollhouse AU, Caretaker Red Hood, Steph & Bruce in my No Death in the Family AU, and a Jason&Steph War Games AU.

‘Everyone in flooring should become a Recofloor member’
Joining Recofloor from the start of their business has given Commercial Flooring Bristol an ‘enormous boost’ and helped the young company to gain work through being able to demonstrate their sustainable credentials.
“We became involved with the scheme for environmental reasons so that we could recycle our vinyl flooring waste. It doesn’t feel right to be sending waste vinyl to landfill when it can be recycled into something else,” says Tim Brown, Commercial Flooring Bristol Director.
Tim started his company in 2018, specialising in carpet tiles, safety flooring and wall cladding, after sub-contracting in the flooring sector. “I started using Recofloor straightaway because it’s so convenient for disposing of vinyl flooring waste and you know it’s not going to waste.
“Joining the Recofloor scheme has boosted my company enormously from being able to recycle our clean vinyl off-cuts, which saves on skips and reduces materials going to landfill, to winning awards and then showing customers on our website what we do and how the Recofloor scheme works, which has brought us in so much work,” continues Tim. “It’s a great scheme and everyone in flooring should become a member.”
Tim heard about the Recofloor scheme via the Contract Flooring Journal (CFJ) and also suppliers like Altro, one of the scheme’s co-founders with Polyflor. “I approached Recofloor and emailed them with details of what we do, and then it was easy to sign up to the scheme.”
Commercial Flooring Bristol works on a variety of commercial projects, such as care homes, doctors and dental surgeries, hospitals and offices. Recent projects include Cannington College at Bridgwater which generated a large number of clean vinyl offcuts for recycling.
Tim values the fact that Recofloor can offer vinyl collections directly from project sites. For smaller projects, they collect offcuts in bags supplied by Recofloor and drop them off at 3D Flooring Supplies Bristol every two weeks.
“Our customers really like that we recycle the waste vinyl. It’s an added bonus that it’s not getting dumped. It’s just good practice. I’d say it helps to set us apart from others. In our warehouse, we have different sections to store materials for recycling, such as timber waste, glue pots and, of course, waste vinyl flooring.
“It’s always good to get involved with Recofloor and I would urge other flooring companies to join the scheme,” adds Tim. “As part of our Green Commercial Flooring Bristol Mission we are totally invested in recycling flooring waste.”
Carla Eslava, Recofloor Manager comments: “Through their dedication and commitment, Tim and his team are an inspiration to other flooring companies who want to improve their sustainability efforts.”
Founded by Altro and Polyflor, Recofloor is the flooring sector’s sustainable take-back scheme for commercial waste vinyl generated from all types of projects. Material is recycled and used in new products, including flooring. To find out more, go to www.recofloor.org or contact Recofloor on 0161 355 7618 or [email protected].
