ML Prompt (w/ Lila Rossi Redemption, A Little of Lila Salt, Adrien Salt, Alya Salt, Class Salt, Bustier Salt, Damocles Salt + Felinette)

I got something in mind. I'm not sure if anyone wants to make it. But if I were to make this then I might do one but for now I'll post this if anyone wanna do this one. You can decide an OC for Lila if you want or let her stay single that is. The pairings are Felinette, JulekaXNino, ChloeXNathanielXMarc, there will be no julerose since Rose is a salt. Outside of CFD is LukaXKagami.

What if Lila Rossi got the part as Marinette's Job aka. Class President from her classmates? But what she doesn't know that she is recieving pure pressure from the class and her teacher causing her to rant at home.

Marinette has transferred school from this toxic classroom that she has been telling her parents about and send her to Jeanne Arc on the otherside of Paris where she meets the Quantic Kids and her twin sister Bridgette as she somehow fallen in love with Felix Graham de Vanily.

As for Lila she was glad that she was picked for Class President here in CFD but what she doesn't realize is that her classmates wants her to do the jobs like field trips, fund rasier, birthday parties, etc for them instead of them doing it for themselves. Just like before with Marinette and Chloe when they had connections from publicity before Lila but now it is her turn.

Until a few days ago it gotten out of hand for Lila. As she was thinking of a possible way to finish this file for the class but she even ask for Sabrina's help since Alya isn't doing her job as a Class Deputy as to what Nino told her the day she was selected as Miss Bustier's Class President. But Sabrina told Lila to ask Alya for that this made her very annoyed at the last second.

Lila told her mother to called the school as she isn't feeling well which she is tired of this stuff that her class wants her to do plus she didn't want to talk to her classmates on the phone she turn off her phone it was driving her nuts while working on this folder that Dupain-Cheng gave her after leaving the class for good.

But what she didn't realize is that her mom is at kitchen after a early day off from her job that her boss had decided for her to spend time with her child. Lila did some research on the internet of what a Class President is suppose to but now it clicked.

"This entire time the fund raisers, field trips, and birthday parties were meant for the teachers. Why is Miss Bustier putting this on me then if its her job to this it is not the Class President job. Well that explains why Dupain-Cheng left from that including my lies as well. I'm starting to regret being the Class President. I think I should tell this to mom maybe she can do something to get a contact to the school board this is ridiculous." Lila muttered to herself.

Lila went to tell this to her mother that she was selected as the Class President but something went off for her so she explain it to her mother which made her super pissed off. But now regretting everything that is happening so she send a text message to Dupain-Cheng that she is sorry for ruining her life and other stuffs but ask for forgiveness as she wants to restart over to find who she is.

Then for Marinette well she is surprised to read Lila's text on her phone but respond back that its gonna take time to forgive her but also suggested her to transfer to Mrs. Mendeleiev's class if Bustier is pure pressuring her to do it. Which caught her attention instantly but now that is done she went to tell her mother the truth as her mother was angry but scold her never do it ever so then she send emails to celebrities that she lied to including Prince Ali that she is sorry for lying to them and other stuff but to be fair she even told them that her classmates from CFD believe in the lies she told them which made Prince Ali felt betrayed by Rose when the girl explain it on email to him but he forgave the girl but told her not to do this again but the other two celebrities as in Jagged and Clara weren't very happy as they remembered that Marinette told them about Lila but to her she apologize to them which gave them a huge relief.

Then there comes Adrien who practically scold Lila on text message to do it which made her scream in fustration in her room as she send a message back to NO. Lila started to hate Adrien with passion plus she doesn't even like him anymore after getting that off her chest.

Lila explain this all to her mother as Mrs. Rossi decided to transfer her daughter to a new class that is in Mrs. Mendeleiev class but highly threaten the principal if he doesn't do this damn job she will send a message to the school board to get him fired. But to Lila she will have to explain this to her science teacher why she is moving to her class instead of Bustier.

While Marinette's squad with Chloe, Nino, Juleka, Nathaniel, and Sabrina looked really surprised the way Lila acted out of the shell then they told their parents to get them transfer to Mrs. Mendeleiev's class away from those people who wants free stuff instead of them getting it for themselves.

DON'T BLAME ME || 6 || Jay Halstead x Teddy Rhodes

Chapter Synopsis: When a fire scene causes the power to go out in the area, Jay worries about Thea's safety while Thea worries about everyone else's.

Chapter Warnings: Mentions of attempted murder; mention of a beating; brief description of a vehicular accident; spousal worries/concern for partner's life; split-second allusion to suicidal ideation; Elli's speech STILL fluctuates. Read ahead at your own risk.

Author's Note: I forgot to change up the chapter warnings for chapter five upon posting, so you can see what was planned for that chapter and later scrapped.

Usually when we finished with a case, we'd all go home. I'd give Brooke a lift home while she called her roommate to let her know she was on her way, and to see if she wanted something to eat. Usually I'd be planning to get comfortable in sweats and a tank, or just sweats sometimes, and call Thea when I got home. Elizabeth would stay at Brooke's until Kelly finished his shift and picked her up.

Usually, I wouldn't be in the bullpen by now and wanting to be throwing my computer over Hawkins' and Lindsay's heads and out the window.

"Someone's missing his wife," Ruzek teased, a knowing smirk on his face.

Brooke laughed beside me. "She's probably thinking he's dead." I looked at her, and she shoved her phone into my hand. She knew my phone died half an hour ago, but I didn't think to bring my charger to work this morning and I had to let it die. "Call her, Halstead. She might not be losing her mind, but she'd still be expecting a phone call. Even if you're not shirtless."

"You've been calling your wife shirtless while she's in shift?" Ruzek teased, as I slipped into the break room to call my wife. Zero-three-two-one. Elizabeth's birthday was easy to remember when it was her aunt and your best friend's pin for her phone.

"Theodosia Rhodes; I can't come to the phone, so just leave a message. If it's CFD related, call Firehouse 51. If it's Dolan Rhodes related, call my store manager." Given she likely wouldn't check her voicemail for a week anyway, I sent her a text to call me on Brooke's number when she got the chance.

As soon as I hit send, the lights started to flicker and everything turned off.

"Ruzek, what did you touch?"

"Nothing!"

"Uh huh."

I gave Brooke back her phone as I sat back at my desk. I felt everyone but Brooke and Dawson were staring at me weirdly and I knew what it was about. My lack of reaction to the power outage. "First off, I've been in worse conditions. Second, my wife has to have all the lights off at our apartment or she can't sleep straight."

"Is that why she looks half asleep when she comes in during her shifts?" Lindsay asked with a frown.

Brooke reasoned, "they can't exactly turn off all the lights in the bullpen at 51 while there's people filling out paperwork."

Thea mentioned she was getting different blinds for her office windows to block out a good portion of the light from bullpen, but it was on her own dollar and the CFD wouldn't cover it, so it was taking a while to get to the firehouse even on express delivery.

"I might be rich, but that doesn't improve delivery times and traffic."

The backup generators kicked in and the lights flickered to a start, as the computers rebooted themselves and I noticed the file I hadn't saved was blank again. I internally groaned as Brooke answered her phone.

"Yeah, we're good...no, I'm still at work...of course, Jay's here. He's my way home...yeah, I can tell him...are you okay?...alright, I'll come see you guys soon...tell her I said hi!" She held her phone to her neck as she leaned to me. "51 was on a call; Teddy's okay, her phone was in the truck; she said she'll call back soon; and she's picking up my grandparents and Elli to have them at 51 with her and Kelly. Oh, and when we're done here, you can meet my sister."

"Thought you only had a brother," Olinsky, frightening us a little, piped in front him secluded desk.

Brooke hummed. "As it turns out, my dad got a woman he cheated on my mom with pregnant and I have a 21-year-old chef as a half-sister."

"Do you like her?" Lindsay asked, and suddenly we were all about Brooke's family issues. She didn't blame Katie, as her sister's name was, since it was Katie's mom that slept with a married man and their dad that slept with another woman while married.

While they talked about the Severides, I got to texting Thea. The first message was just a 'be careful' one, knowing the dark can make people lose their minds. When she sent a 'you too', I stopped myself from liking the message since I was still on Brooke's phone. I passed it back, and I turned to Ruzek for a charger. I wanted to talk to her on my phone.

Once Elli was settled with Katie, watching her cook in the kitchen, I checked on Kelly's grandparents and made sure they were comfortable in my office.

"Thank you, Thea." Kent shook my hand in both of his. "My grandson's got a good woman looking out for him."

I smiled, knowing that Kelly cherished their support with Elli. "Always, Kent. You're family."

"You too, kiddo." His attention was back on Agatha, and I left them to each other's company. Kent knew he just had to call out to Connie if they needed me, or Kelly for that matter.

As I walked around the firehouse, keeping an eye on the civilians, I noticed Boden talking to one of the women from a building fire some days ago. I sent him a simple nod with a knowing smile before checking in on Elli and Katie. Surely Katie was getting a little overwhelmed with how many people she and Cruz were cooking for.

"How's Auntie Katie doing, Principessa?" I hugged Elli's little body as I stopped behind her to watch the cooking over her head.

"Her cooking is better than Daddy's," Elli waved her sticky hands in my face to prove her point.

Katie smiled guiltily beside the stove. "She stuck her fingers into the sauce before I even noticed."

I shook my head, making sure Elli knew she couldn't do that, before I turned my attention back to Katie. "She gets it from Kelly, he can't help sticking his grimy hands into food either, and Brooke's the same. Might be the Severide genes."

"I can guarantee I will use a spoon," Katie laughed. I went to add something about her family's genetics, chalking up to the fingers-in-food thing to being Kelly's mother as we walked around to the bigger dining table, when a crashed and bang interrupted me.

A man was slamming a younger guy into the table, and Kelly and Boden rushed to separate them. I passed Elli to Katie, who held her niece closer to her shoulder. The man, after being shoved into the metal counter by Kelly, stole a knife from Cruz and waved it at everyone.

Kelly raised his hands in front of him. "Put the knife down, and get out."

"That guy's drunk brother put my niece in a coma!" The man shouted, pointing the knife at the kid he was beating up, before moving it on Kelly.

"We're not going to say it again," I pointed a finger at him I doubted it would do anything, but it was worth a shot. "Put the damn knife down and get out."

The man didn't move for a moment, staring at me, before he moved to rush Kelly and jump the kid again. Before he reached Kelly, I threw my head into his torso and pushed him into the round table as civilians previously sitting there fled. As I got my arms around him, the man slashed at me and I backed off instinctively.

My self-defence trainer had stopped training me since I started in the CFD when I was 18, so I knew I was a little rusty but the ache in my shoulder really shouldn't have felt as bad as it did.

The man swiped the knife at my face, the tip grazing my cheek and causing me to back up even more. Kelly rushed him, shoving the man into the counter again and making him drop the knife. Once the weapon was gone, Kelly grabbed the guy by the back of his neck and dragged him outside. Boden followed, silently telling me to stay put with the civilians.

I checked on Elli, who was crying from watching her parents get in a fight, and made sure Katie wasn't too panicked. When the guys came back inside, Kelly did the same and wiped the blood from my face.

Boden talked to the on-looking civilians, reassuring their safety, before he turned to us. A couple of my guys had appeared during the fight, and stood nearby. "Keep a look out for anyone wanting a fight; you do what Kelly just did and throw them out in the snow."

The guys and I nodded, knowing Boden was meaning us mostly, given our training. I patched up the cut on my face in the bathroom, as Gabby poked her head inside. "Jay's looking for you."

He was waiting in my office by the time I found him, and as soon as he saw the bandage on my face, Jay lifted his hand for his finger to lightly graze the plastic cover. "Shay called Brooke and said you'd been scratched. She didn't say anything about a knife until we got here though."

"I'm okay." I didn't even believe myself so much that my voice was shaky.

The frown he gave me was a dead giveaway he didn't believe me either. "Thea..."

Thank god Kent and Agatha weren't in my office, because as soon as my nose felt tight and my shoulders started shaking, I started crying and holding onto Jay's shirt.

I was terrified. Mortified that I could've been stabbed, and Elli would've seen her mom get stabbed. She saw her mom fighting. The only thing worse than that was seeing her mom get stabbed. I was doing everything I could to make sure Elli didn't have the same childhood as me, and I let my teenage self take over.

As soon as I met Herrmann and I knew I wanted to be a firefighter, I was going to put my fighting instincts behind me and I'd be a better person than teenage me was. When Elli was born, and I knew she needed a mother, I promised little newborn her that I would do everything I could to make sure she didn't see that version of me.

The version of me that punched first and asked questions later. The version of me that ignored how much her grief affected her that she hurt everyone around her.

But as scared as I was that my toddler saw me any differently, I was scared I was going to die. I didn't want to die. Sometimes I did, but in that moment? No way. I had people to live for now.

I had a husband, who I might not have married because I was in love with him, but I was in love with the time I spent in his company. I had a little girl who needed a mother. I had a best friend who needed my help raising his baby girl, because he was scared he'd end up being another version of his father.

I had a husband. We would have kids eventually. He would need their mother around as they grew up. Those kids needed their mother around. They needed their mother around. They needed their mother around.

"Theodosia, look at me." Jay's voice came through all the voices in my head, and I realised he had been holding my face for at least a few minutes. One thumb grazed over the bandage, and the other wiped the tears from the left side of my face. "You're okay, now. The bastard comes back to get you, I'll kick his ass before he comes in the door. I'm not letting him hurt you."

I bit my lip to stop the tears, just staring at Jay's face. Counting his freckles to calm myself down; his eyes were a really pretty shade of blue. They were so much prettier with the freckles all over his face too. "What did I do to deserve you?"

"You didn't need to do anything to deserve someone caring about you, Thea. It's about time someone makes sure you know that. You're amazing, Thea, and I know Elizabeth looks up to you more than anyone."

"Teddy." I murmured, receiving a confused frown. "You can call me Teddy. We've been together long enough now."

Jay smiled. "Great. I was starting to get jealous of Brooke being able to call you that."

"Oh, ha ha. Very funny."

"I am very funny, aren't I?" He grinned, looking a little too prideful.

We didn't get any more alone time, as Brooklyn threw open my office door. I was sure she was more worried about me than her brother, and she was ready to shoved Jay out of her way so she could take care of me.

"I'm okay, B. You two can head back to the district, I'm sure you're needed more there." I squeezed her hands with a little smile. As much as I liked Brooklyn, I felt bad taking any sympathy from her. She was younger than me, and she really didn't need to worry about me; her brother did that enough. "As long as Katie and Elli are okay, you need to get back."

Brooklyn gave Jay a look, before she nodded and she bid goodbye. Jay squeezed my hand before following after her. The sweetheart that Gabby told me about was starting to show, or maybe he always was one and I just didn't notice.

a/n: my very good friend @lovelymary wanted my version of the brettonio and dawsey double date in episode seven of season five, so here it is. the lyrics and title come from "stay here forever" by jewel. this is basically before the date, the date and then after the date for both couples.

"You know," Gabby's tone was sly, her eyes sparkling and Matt knew he should brace himself for her next words, especially since he found his lap full of her petite body, her arms draped around his neck. Thankfully the blinds to his office were closed. He didn't need any grief from Severide about quickies at work and how he can't do the same with Kidd in his own office. "Sylvie and Antonio seem pretty steady," She observed, tracing the planes of his chest through his collared CFD shirt.

Matt was happy for Gabby's brother, he really was. He had come to consider Antonio a friend and not just his fiance's brother and an ally with the CPD. That didn't mean he wanted to hear about his relationship with one of his co-workers.

He felt his body relax as Gabby began to press kisses, soft but full of heat, against his jaw and he knew she was buttering him up for whatever she was about to tell him. He, however, wasn't going to complain as his own hands sunk into her thick glossy chocolate hair to anchor her lips to his skin.

"I was thinking," She murmured, her voice breathless and warm, making him groan. "We all happen to have off the Wednesday before my parents' big bash on Saturday, sooooo what if we did something together? Like grab dinner, dessert and we could dance too? You need all the practice you can get before you walk into that ballroom full of at least a hundred or so Latinos and Latinas, baby,"

"Are you saying I can't dance?" He joked, stroking her soft cheek with his thumb. "That's not what I said. I said you need practice. There's a difference," She laughed, unable to keep a straight face. "Just for that I should put you on hose duty," He remarked. "But because I know I can't say no to you about anything, we can double date with your brother and Brett. I get to pick the restaurant, though."

"You drive a hard bargain, Lieutenant. Buuuuut I bet I can change your mind."

A searing kiss was pressed to Matt's lips and then Gabby had thrown her shirt over her head, leaving her in a lace bra he definitely would have remembered. Suddenly picking the restaurant wasn't as important.

Antonio shook his head as he saw the incoming text from Gabby. Double dating with his younger sister was always interesting to say the least. She was very protective of him, despite being the younger sibling. It took her years to warm up to Laura who had confessed to him on numerous occasions throughout their marriage, she still wasn't sure if Gabby liked her. But he was just as culpable, unable to turn off his cops instincts, which led him to chasing off a few of Gabby's boyfriends.

This was different. He'd known Matt for years now. Hell, the guy came to him to ask for the family's permission to marry Gabby. He was good people. And it wasn't like Sylvie was a stranger. But he knew Gabby wanted to see them interact together, to see neither of them was jumping into something they weren't prepared for.

It was silly he was a grown man in his 40s with two teenagers, but Sylvie made him feel like he was as much of a teenager as Eva and Diego actually were. With Laura things had burned hot and fast, then settled into a typically suburban life once he made detective. He couldn't remember the women, girls really, before her except for Angel Ramirez who went to high school with Gabby and Deana Cruz who was his first everything. So dating was new to him, honestly, and Sylvie's infectious energy had worn off on him.

"You have a visitor, Rico Suave," Came Platt's dry tone, drawing him out of his thoughts. Sylvie jauntily waved from behind the austere sargeant, her blue eyes as bright as her smile. Seeing her familiar blinding smile, he couldn't stop his lips from curving into one of their own, even as Ruzek cat called and Atwater remarked, "Bow chicka wow wow,"

"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes, Sylvie Brett," Antonio mused, drawing her lithe frame into his strong frame. "Keep it PG you're on city property," Platt's tone was droll as she rolled her eyes while the detective drew the medic in for a soft kiss.

"I probably should have called ahead or at least texted. I just realized I don't know exactly when you guys take a lunch or a break," She was sheepish, peering at him through her velvet lashes. "Whenever we can," Antonio was honest. "It's rare we go to lunch at the same time twice in the same month. Lucky for you I haven't taken mine yet." He winked and she flushed, showing him the familiar brown paper bag from Lucky's.

"Lucky's?" Jay groaned from his desk. "That is not fair. Hey," He called to Erin across the bullpen. "Why don't you ever bring me a sandwich from Lucky's. I would bring you one."

"You lie," Erin rolled her eyes. "You insist we go dutch over stakeout snacks because you're a cheapskate, Halstead."

"No, I insist we go dutch on stakeout snacks because I respect you as a woman, Erin Lindsay. You wouldn't want a man to pay your way and I'm honoring that. I'm a feminist."

Antonio soaked in Sylvie's warm bubbly laughter as he guided her into the little kitchenette while Jay and Erin continued their playful squabble as Ruzek and Atwater decided between Lou Malnati's or Weiner Circle for their lunch.

At this point red carpets - for vanity liquor launches, for the latest Netflix drama or superhero tentpole flick to even the Oscars - Isabel had been there and done that. She knew what to expect; the white hot glare from all of the lights, the constant flashes of hundreds of cameras, forty different people shouting her name and of course the dozens of interviews from various entertainment news outlets.

Tonight - walking the white (pun intended) carpet - for the second season premiere of HBO Max's newest crown jewel in White Lotus would be just a little different. She wouldn't be walking the carpet alone. She knew everyone was gossiping about her and her co-star, the handsome British actor, Theo James, but tonight she was putting those rumors to bed for good.

Guiding her down the carpet for the first time was going to be her husband (yes, husband you read that right) Colorado Avalanche stalwart defenseman, Erik Johnson. Her lips couldn't help but curl proudly as her long time makeup artist worked her magic. Keeping things private was never easy, not even Ben and Jen had managed to keep their wedding reception from leaking. But Erik's teammates were sweet in respecting their wishes and her friends were all too familiar with things getting out to the public before you wanted them to.

She touched the four point five karat sapphire ring on her finger, her heart picking up speed while butterflies erupted in her stomach. She had done this a hundred times - since she was sixteen and had broken out on the soap opera General Hospital, playing mobster Sonny Corinthos's headstrong daughter whose mother was his former lover and attorney, Alexis Davis - but this was truly different. Even though she had walked carpets with her exes and flings and everything in between, Erik wasn't them. He was everything she had hoped and dreamed of as a girl watching every rom com she could get her hands on.

Slipping her wedding ring from her left ring finger to her right, she laughed softly. There were still some things they wanted to keep for themselves.

"Hola, esposa," Erik's jumbled Spanish made Isabel smile, her own dimples appearing to match his. "Nice try, Blanquito," Her voice was soft and placating but Erik took it in stride, her teasing making his stomach tumble like only she could.

Growing up with Brazilian parents, Isabel learned Spanish before she learned English and could speak conversational Portuguese as well. Erik was trying his hand at Spanish and more often than not he mostly succeeded in making her laugh as he asked why she couldn't just teach him the naughty words.

Once her makeup was finished, he let out a whistle at seeing her full white carpet look. A summery silk maxi dress in a deep green with a plunging neckline and silvery strappy heels while her velvet black hair was twisted into an elaborate braid crown gave her the glam of the star she was and kept with the show's luxury resort theme. It was hard to believe she was his. He was just a hockey player, a Minnesotan born and bred raised in his small town that somehow made it to the league, forget being drafted number one overall and now winning the Cup.

Their first night, the thin Mountain air around them, her sneaking into Denver on a private flight in the wee hours (Erik knew it wasn't his best display of leadership but fuck it, Isabel was too good to be true) on a game day, she told him - their bodies plastered together, sticky with sweat, that's what she liked most about him. That he was the small town boy who made good. It reminded her that she was a small town girl, having left her Brazilian tropical life behind, for a brighter future in the States, her parents wanting to give her everything they never had. That she was just Isabel. Not this international celebrity, a point of fascination for strangers, but a girl who ached for love like any normal person would.

Everything was dimmer with Erik on her arm - the white hot glare warm instead of intense, the shouting not as invasive - except her smile. She knew it was blinding as they posed, his large hand on the small of her back. She missed the cool metal of his ring against her skin but she would make do. No one needed to know everything about her.

Chicago Justice Season 1 Ep. 13 "Tycoon" (Series Finale)

The State's Attorney's office is investigating a deadly crane accident that destroyed half a building and killed a man in his car below. Nagel becomes suspicious when she discovers that the victim was the son-in-law of a powerful real estate developer who owns the collapsed building.

Antonio Dawson is receiving a text message and rushes to a construction site where a crane has crashed into a building and onto a car. CFD and CPD are already on the scene. Detective Erin Lindsay informs Antonio that there are four injured people, and Evan Wheeler, who is Frank Linden's son-in-law and in charge of the project, has died.

Laura Nagel and Antonio arrive at Chicago Med to see John Benzinger, the crane operator. They ask him how much he had to drink the previous night, and he tells them he had two beers. Laura inquires about why he was transferred to Riverfront, but Benzinger's wife becomes defensive and tells them to leave.

Frank Linden arrives at Mark Jefferies' office immediately after receiving the news. Anna Valdez and Peter Stone are already there. Jefferies asks how they can assist. Brett Linden informs them that the crane operator had tested positive for cocaine and had previously been written up for being drunk on the job. Stone is surprised and asks how Brett knew that. Frank states that his son attended law school with Evan and was like a son to him. He asks Evan to take care of the matter while he takes care of Evan's widow, Sarah Tollin. When Stone asks a question that neither Brett nor Frank answers, Jefferies assigns Stone to lead the investigation.

Stone visits Emma, who is busy cleaning up her daughter Annaleigh's toys. He expresses his condolences and inquires about Evan's presence at the site. He confirms that she works for her father as well. He asks if she recalls anything else about the crash besides speaking to him on the phone during the incident. Their conversation is interrupted by her daughter, who is quickly sent away with the nanny. Emma has not yet informed her daughter of Evan's passing.

Chicago Fire's Chief Wallace Boden walks through the crash site with Antonio and Laura, explaining the sequence of events. He confirms that the bull pin was tampered with, making it brittle enough to break. It appears that someone wanted the crane to collapse.

Antonio tells Anna the results of the test they did on Benzinger's thermos. He shares that the cocaine was too pure for him to have obtained it on the streets of Chicago. It appears that someone drugged his thermos, knowing his work history. They meet with Laura, who confirms that the crane was still working properly when the site closed at 8 pm. They believe there was an hour gap for someone to damage the pin. They find a car leaving the site but cannot see the license plate.

Anna visits Frank, who boasts about legacy and how it cannot be built by pushing paper. Frank's son, Brett, appears disturbed by his words. Brett seems to be hiding something. Anna informs them that the crane operator is not being charged with murder and is there to investigate if they have any enemies. Frank provides her with the name of Jim Florence and assures her that Brett will provide her with whatever she needs. He explains that it all began with threatening emails and then Florence arrived with a 9mm.

Anna meets with Florence. Florence tells Anna that Frank Linden uses people's weaknesses against them. Frank's workers are undocumented, which causes Frank to offer him $90,000 for a $2 million job. He swears that the crane deal wasn't him. Truthfully, Frank is the only one left building in Chicago. He says that when the riverfront fell, he is certain Frank came out ahead, as he always does.

Anna visits Stone's office and reveals that Frank Linden has declared bankruptcy five times, yet he has profited while everyone else has suffered. She discovers insurance on the riverfront but cannot access it without a warrant, as all of Linden's information is on a private server. Stone attempts to obtain a warrant, but the judge requires more evidence before signing it. Antonio suggests hacking into the server, but Stone orders him not to.

They discuss how Danny Borelli, a good man, father, and firefighter, died in a building that was a deathtrap due to safety violations. The building was owned by Frank Linden. Antonio promises not to ignore this issue. He discovers that Frank contacted mobster Henry Tomczak six times in the last 30 days.

Antonio and Laura examine the items Antonio acquired. They visit the bar mentioned in the emails, where the bartender shares his observations. Laura presents a picture of Sarah Wheeler and confirms that she was at the bar with her father, Frank, and Tomczak four days before the crane accident.

Stone asked how they obtained the information. Antonio told him to do whatever he wants with the information, but Laura said that they investigated and it was on eof her CIs who reached out to her. Stone praised their work and left. Anna showed Stone the newscast that the wife supposedly saw, which made her rush to the accident site. The newscast was at 7:33, but she was there at 7:29.

Stone and Anna confront Sarah about her lie and tell her that if her father was involved in this scheme to make money, this is her chance to get ahead of it. Anna informs her that her husband was murdered and that she could be charged with first-degree murder. When Sarah says she can't help them, Anna suggests they speak to her brother, Brett. Sarah insists that no one can beat Frank and that Brett whorships him. Stone threatened to arrest her immediately and began counting down from 5. He also threatened to put her daughter in child services and keep her there until she could vote. Sarah nodded when Anna asked if she knew the crane would collapse.

Anna and Stone have a meeting with Brett and Frank. Stone encourages Frank to cut his losses and plead guilty to the murder of Evan Wheeler, but Frank wants to know where Jefferies is, as he would never sign off on this. Anna and Peter inform Frank that his daughter revealed everything to them. Frank stands up and tells them that they are going to learn the hard way, as he never folgs on a bluff and his daughter, Sarah, will never testify against him.

During their investigation, Laura and Antonio visit Henry Tomczak. Laura requests to take a photo of the swordfish on his wall. After leaving Tomczak's office, Laura reveals that she took a photo of the picture beside the swordfish, which is the Dodge Challenger that was leaving the site just before the crane crash. They then visit Tomczak's girlfriend's house and find an empy cylinder of Difluoroethane in the trunk of the Challenger. This substance can be used to make the bull pin brittle.

Jefferies enters Stone's office and places a file on his desk. He informs Stone that he has made a deal with Frank Linden. Stone is outraged that there is no jail time for an act that resulted in murder. Jefferies admits that this may be true, but he is not convinced that he can prove it. In court, Frank is fined $500,000, but Stone decides to have him arrested for murder. Frank warns Stone in front of the judge that he is making a big mistake.

Frank Linden will be out in 20 minutes and will meet with Jefferies at a busy social club. During their conversation, Jefferies asks Frank if he killed his son-in-law. Frank denies the accusation and expresses his love for the thrill of building tall structures. He also mentions that he feels no one is closer to God than him. Despite being angry with Stone for bothering him, Frank believes that Jefferies is the only one who can prevent him from reaching the top.

The murder trial began the following day, with Sarah as the first witness. She admitted that they were 10 months behind on the project and that they had an insurance policy for $570 million in case of an accident halting construction. When asked if the crane accident was intentional, she pleaded the 5th while looking at her father.

Anna confronts Brett outside the courtroom about his knowledge of Frank killing Evan. Brett tells her that sometimes you have to do whatever it takes to get the job done and walks away. Anna figures out that Sarah was protecting Brett and is shocked that he would allow his sister to go to prison.

Jefferies agrees that they need to get Frank behind bars. It is painful to see Sarah paying the price and going to prison. Stone decides to work a new angle at a benefit by talking very loudly about the murder and all his bankruptcy cases. He taunts Frank in front of the rich and prominent citizens of Chicago. Brett calls security, but Stone tells him that this isn't over and that he is just getting started. Stone wishes Frank a good night.

The court begins, and the prosecution rests. Stone says they will wait for Frank's defense. Initially, Frank's lawyer suggests resting, but Frank insists on taking the stand. He talks at length about his financial support for various causes and denies any involvement in sabotaging the riverfront site.

During questioning, Stone brings up Frank's master's thesis from Columbia University, titled "In Defense of Pinto". Frank is surprised that Stone has a copy and asks him to explain its relevance to the jury. He argued that companies could prioritize profits over human life, and that sabotaging a project to increase profits was acceptable.

Frank laughed and denied his own words, insisting it was all just theory. He eventually snapped and shouted that it was all about profits, even if it meant the wrongful death of his own family members. Stone then concluded his statement and sat down.

Sarah, Frank, Brett, their attorney, Anna, and Stone were all present. Frank refused to admit guilt but agreed to a plea deal of reckless endangerment with 2 years probation. When the conversation turned to her deceased husband, Sarah remained silent. Stone agrees her pleading guilty to manslaughter and Frank is sentenced to 15 years. Frank offers Tomczak and Stone accepts, resulting in Frank receiving a 12-year sentence.

During the trial, Frank denies involvement in the hit and Sarah tearfully reveals that it was her idea. Frank shouts that he had nothing to do with it. Sarah pleads with Brett not to do this, as their father took away Evan and now her daughter will be left without a mother. Brett believes they require Frank, but Stone disagrees, stating that there is no deal for any of them, and he will pursue all of them.

In court, Frank is found guilty of murder, and once it is announced, Sarah is also arrested. Jefferies is not surprised that Frank is attempting to negotiate a deal, given the numerous dirty secrets he has to trade. He suggests they enjoy another drink because they will not be returning for a while, as most of those secrets are tied to their esteemed membership.

According to people familiar with the matter, U.S. data analysis and artificial intelligence software manufacturer Databricks has conducted a new round of financing worth more than $500 million. The company's current valuation has reached $43 billion.

Databricks’ last round of financing was in August 2021, raising US$1.6 billion, with a post-financing valuation of US$38 billion. Today, the company’s valuation has increased by $5 billion, proving that behind the general trend of slowing financing, not all startups’ valuations are slowing down.

The latest round of funding makes Databricks the eighth most valuable private company in the world, according to Crunchbase.

Who are the investors?

Judging from the list of investors participating in this financing, this round of financing is both pre-IPO financing and strategic investment.

Among many investors, companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Morgan Stanley, Fidelity, and Franklin Templeton usually invest in companies that are expected to go public sooner or later.

In addition, Nvidia and Capital One’s venture capital arm also appeared as investors.

The connection between Nvidia and Databricks is not hard to find. Nvidia's chips and software benefit from demand for artificial intelligence, and Databricks is leveraging Nvidia's capabilities in AI computing to build out its sales of data and machine learning software.

It is worth mentioning that Nvidia is currently a customer of Databricks competitor Snowflake. It is unclear whether this investment means that Nvidia will turn around.

Databricks CEO Ali Ghodsi said in an interview that the company is "very excited" to expand its partnership with Nvidia and "double down on generative artificial intelligence."

Databricks says it has more than 10,000 customers worldwide, with more than 300 of its customers currently generating annual revenue of $1 million or more for its software and services.

In its fiscal second quarter, which ended July 31, the company said it achieved its "strongest quarterly revenue growth" in the company's history and is on track to surpass the $1.5 billion annual revenue mark, with sales set to A year-on-year increase of 50%.

That's enough for investors to bet that Databricks will be valued at more than $43 billion when it goes public. However, the company's valuation is approximately 29 times its effective earnings, making it a bit expensive in the current market.

Databricks doesn't seem to be rushing to a public offering, but a potential IPO is still on the company's development roadmap. The company plans to grow a little more revenue before trying to defend its latest valuation in the public markets, which also means an IPO could come later.

Market participants believe that Databricks actually has a lot of cash, and perhaps the new round of financing also gives it more room to take other strategic initiatives.

In July this year, Databricks acquired MosaicML for $1.3 billion. MosaicML is a startup that provides software to efficiently run large language models and output natural text.

(The reason I posted this today is because my supervisor just got back to me confirming I wasn't mistranslating this sentence.)

As I noted in my other post, the term ara can just mean attendant, but it is used widely within this text – an early 17th century copy of the independent Comrac Fir Diad – to refer to Láeg and Idh, so the charioteer definition is equally plausible. All other versions of CFD that I know use the term forbfer or something similar, meaning 'serving-man', so it's distinctively different.

The implication is plainly that during their training, when Cú Chulainn was the junior figure in their partnership, he took on a subservient role – but for that to be the charioteer's role specifically is juicy for both Láeg parallels and possible classical influence.

Red Bull’s Bendy Rear Wing - the FIA Regulations Surrounding it.

I’ve done quite a bit of reading and research on this topic in order to try to explain what is going on, I was aware of the concept prior as it’s been used before in motorsport, so if I have glossed over something or you want to know a bit more please message me. This post will be focussing on the FIA regulations side whilst the technical aspect is mentioned here.

One of the most difficult areas that FIAs technical stewards have found to police in Formula 1 is flexible bodywork, as there can be no such thing as a zero tolerance approach, the car are so sensitive to the different environments that even with extensive CFD and wind tunnel testing, a slight quirk may only appear on the car when its on track or only at specific types of track, and the engineers use this to their advantage with being able to manoeuvre around the grey area in the technical regulations

Technical regulation 3.8 is the aerodynamic regulations (you can find the full technical regs linked here), I’ll try to summarise the key points; any specific part of the car influencing aerodynamic performance must comply with the rules relating to bodywork and must be rigidly secured to the car without having any degrees of freedom.

Obviously looking at technical regulation 3.8; the RB16B with the flexible rear wing would be illegal, but as would all the cars, as all cars have some flex in the bodywork under high loading and the FIA is aware of that and as such in article 3.9 of the technical regulations it specifies the allowable flexibility of the bodywork.

The point that we are most interested in is 3.9.6 which is the allowable flex for the components of the rear wing; the uppermost aerofoil element (the top part of the rear wing), may deflect no more than 7mm when a 500N load is applied horizontally - the RB16B has been passing these checks, as have all the cars - as they are completed when the car is stationary.

However article 3.9.9 states that in order to ensure that the requirements of article 3.8 are respected the FIA reserve the right to introduce further load/deflection tests on any part of the bodywork which appears to be moving whilst the car is in motion.

The FIA has the right to introduce these new tests mid-season if it suspects that teams have been able to get around the current testing procedures, without having to bring in a change to the rules or regulations.

Cars that fail the new tests are illegal. However it is ambiguous in the text whether they are illegal from that point onwards or if they were illegal from the start of the season/the earliest point that it can be proven that they would have failed the tests- The ambiguity is on purpose to give the FIA leeway in how to approach these situations

The FIA have announced that more rigorous deflection tests will be introduced at the French GP, so the teams (Alpine and Alfa Romeo are also suspected to be using bendy wings as well) have just under a month to ensure that their cars will pass the new testing, legally the FIA can bring in the new tests immediately but they have chosen to take a more levelled approach.

Gabby rolled her eyes at his cockiness and watched him calling over his group.

Jones gave Kelly a once-over and turned to Dawson,

“That’s Lieutenant Severide?” she questioned.

“Huh, lemme guess, he’s uglier than you imagined?” she replied sarcastically.

Gabby watched and Jones’ watched her boyfriend walk away, she bit her tongue as to not say anything as it would blow their cover. Relationships in the CFD were frowned upon all the time, but with Dawson being a candidate and Kelly her instructor it was definitely not allowed.

They drove separate cars to the academy and then met up at his apartment for dinner. Shay was gone out on a date so it was just the two of them.

“You’re quiet,” Kelly commented as Gabby took a bite of her salad.

“I’m admiring the view,”

He grinned at her, “sorry about earlier I didn’t mean to seem so cocky-“

She sighed, “You definitely caught Jones’ attention. I had to bite my tongue from telling her to stop checking out what’s mine.”

He laughed into his mouthful of food,

“I’m glad you didn’t, you would have blown our cover.”

“It wasn’t easy.”

“How about I make it up to you?” He said suggestively.

“What did you have in mind?”

Their food forgotten the pair made their way into his bedroom, Kelly scooping her up on the way there and carrying her over the threshold. He pinned her down on the bed and started kissing down her neck, sliding her shirt off with one hand and continuing down the rest of her body.

The next morning they showered together and headed out for the academy. She headed out 5 minutes later than he did so they wouldn’t arrive at the same time.

When he arrived he pulled out his phone to see she had texted him while he was driving.

“I really learned a lot last night, thanks Instructor Severide ;)”

He smiled and pushed his phone back into his pocket shaking his head as he entered the building for another day of training.

Canadian dollar rises on NAFTA hopes, yen hits 10-1/2-month low

TOKYO (Reuters) – The dollar dipped against the Canadian dollar on Monday ahead of a looming deadline in Canada-U.S. talks over reworking the North American Free Trade Agreement, while hitting a more than 10-month high against the yen.

Canadian and U.S. negotiators were racing against a midnight Sunday deadline (0400 GMT Monday) to reach a deal to revamp NAFTA, but had not yet settled issues such as American tariffs and access to Canada’s dairy market, an official and sources said.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration has said Canada must sign on to the text of the updated North American Free Trade Agreement before Monday local time or face exclusion from the pact. Washington has already reached a side deal with Mexico, the third NAFTA member.

“Even Trump does not want to break this deal, so there is room for compromise from the U.S. side,” said Masafumi Yamamoto, chief currency strategist at Mizuho Securities.

“If there is no deal with Canada at the end of September, I don’t think it’s the end of the world.”

The Canadian dollar rose to a four-month high of $1.2837 before giving up some gains. It last traded about 0.4 percent higher at $1.2852.

Canada’s ambassador to Washington, David MacNaughton, told reporters that both sides had made lots of progress, but were not there yet, saying: “we still have a couple of tough issues, so we’re doing our best.”

“The removal of the uncertainty of the NAFTA deal is a good thing, but it will not last long,” Mizuho’s Yamamoto said.

The yen weakened to 113.85 per dollar, reaching its lowest since the middle of November last year before giving up some gains.

The greenback has risen four straight weeks against the Japanese currency, including a nearly one percent gain booked last week.

The yen last traded 0.05 percent higher at 113.77 yen.

The (), which measures the greenback against a basket of six currencies, was nearly flat at 95.137, not far off a more than two-week high of 95.366 reached on Friday.

For the third quarter, which ended Friday, the dollar index posted its second consecutive quarterly gain, rising more than half a percent.

The euro () traded flat with worries about a rise in Italy’s deficit weighing on the single currency after the Italian government agreed to set a higher than expected budget deficit target.

The euro last changed hands at $1.1610, not far off a more than two-week low of $1.1569 touched on Friday.

It gave up nearly 1.2 percent last week.

CERNOBBIO, Italy (Reuters) – Britain believes an orderly, agreed exit from the European Union is still the most likely outcome but time is running out and a deal should be done by November at the latest, cabinet office minister David Lidington said on Saturday.

Speaking on the sidelines of Italy’s annual Ambrosetti conference on European affairs, Lidington said London wanted a deal that satisfied all EU member states but its contingency plan for a ‘no-deal’ Brexit was well developed.

“We remain very much committed to getting a good deal and believing that that is not just the right outcome but the most probable outcome,” he told Reuters in an interview.

He said it was important to wrap up negotiations by November in order to give British and European parliaments enough time to review and approve the text of any agreement.

“This is not something that can simply be left to the 11th hour,” Lidington added.

The UK is due to leave the European Union on March 29, yet little is clear. If the world’s fifth largest economy leaves the EU without a detailed agreement, financial markets fear a chaotic divorce that would disrupt trade flows across Europe.

There is, so far, no full exit deal, rivals to Prime Minister Theresa May are circling and some lawmakers are pushing for a rerun of the 2016 referendum.

May recently outlined proposals on economic and trade policy in a white paper, which Lidington said would ensure frictionless trade, especially across the UK’s only post-Brexit land border with the EU, between Ireland and Northern Ireland.

But EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier has criticized the proposals, saying they imply Britain wants a “kind of à la carte single market, a kind of cherrypicking approach”.
