How Plumbing Apprenticeships Works
How Plumbing Apprenticeships Work If you’ve ever contemplated a career in plumbing, you may have wondered how to kickstart your journey and gain the skills needed to become a certified plumber. That’s where plumbing apprenticeships come into play. In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through the plumbing apprenticeship process, helping you understand the ins and outs of how plumbing apprenticeships work step-by-step.
Plumbing Apprenticeship Process Before delving into the specifics, let’s start by demystifying the plumbing apprenticeship process. Essentially, it’s an educational pathway designed to prepare individuals for a career in plumbing. It combines practical, hands-on training with classroom instruction, offering a well-rounded learning experience.
Understanding Plumbing Apprenticeships Plumbing apprenticeships aim to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to become a proficient plumber. This comprehensive approach ensures that apprentices are well-prepared to tackle the challenges of the trade. The goal is to create a skilled workforce with a deep understanding of plumbing systems and practices.
Plumbing Apprenticeship Guide Embarking on a plumbing career begins with following a plumbing apprenticeship guide. This guide outlines the entire journey, from the initial steps to the final certification, ensuring you have a clear roadmap for your apprenticeship.
Getting Started with Plumbing Apprenticeships The first significant step in your plumbing journey is finding a suitable plumbing apprenticeship program. Look for established plumbing companies, unions, or trade schools that offer apprenticeships. Once you’ve identified an opportunity, the next step is to apply and secure a position as an apprentice.
Plumbing Apprentice Training Explained As an apprentice, you’ll be immersed in a hands-on learning experience. You’ll work under the guidance of seasoned plumbers who will mentor you through the various aspects of the trade. Your training will cover a wide range of tasks, including pipe installation, repairs, and routine maintenance.
How Plumbing Apprenticeships Work Step-by-Step Now, let’s break down how plumbing apprenticeships work, step by step:
Application To start your journey, you’ll need to apply for a plumbing apprenticeship. For the majority of programs, an equivalent high school diploma is required. This initial step ensures that applicants have a basic educational foundation.
Classroom Instruction Apprenticeships include structured classroom instruction. During these sessions, you’ll delve into the theoretical aspects of plumbing, covering topics such as plumbing codes, safety procedures, and reading blueprints. This knowledge is vital for understanding the principles that underlie plumbing practices.
On-The-Job Training The heart of your apprenticeship lies in on-the-job training. You’ll work alongside experienced plumbers who will provide you with real-world experience. This hands-on experience is invaluable for gaining practical skills and learning the nuances of plumbing work.
Skill Progression As your apprenticeship progresses, your skills will evolve. You’ll start with more basic tasks and gradually take on more complex plumbing projects. Your mentors will guide you as you gain confidence in your abilities.
Licensing Upon completing your apprenticeship, which typically spans four to five years, you’ll be eligible to become a licensed plumber. Licensure is a critical step in becoming a certified professional.
Journeyman Status After gaining your license, you’ll be considered a journeyman plumber. This status allows you to work independently, take on more responsibilities, and further refine your skills.
Continued Learning The world of plumbing is dynamic, with new technologies and techniques emerging. As a plumber, you’ll need to stay updated and continue learning throughout your career to remain competitive and provide the best service to your clients.
Certification In some regions, achieving certification may be required to work as a plumber. This often involves passing an exam that tests your knowledge and practical skills in plumbing.
Conclusion Plumbing apprenticeships are a fantastic way to enter the world of plumbing and work towards becoming a skilled and certified professional. By understanding the plumbing apprenticeship process and how plumbing apprenticeships work, you’ll be well-prepared to embark on a rewarding career in this essential trade. Whether you’re drawn to hands-on work, problem-solving, or the opportunity to contribute to the infrastructure of our society, plumbing offers a fulfilling and in-demand path.

I've been doing a bit of research, and it turns out in New York City you are required to have at least seven years of experience to become certified as a "master plumber." A minimum of two of these years need to be spent as a "journeyman plumber," where you're licensed to repair pipes so long as you're working under the supervision of a master plumber.
Mario and Luigi can't legally run their business if they're both journeyman plumbers, but that would mean (if they are really both 24-25 like Shigeru Miyamoto says) at least one of them began training to be a plumber the instant he got out of high school. But if that's the case, how did they end up working in demolition?
My theory is that, since demolition companies sometimes locate and strip fixtures in commercial and residential properties for reuse or resale, plumbing fittings included, The Wrecking Crew hired the two plumbers-in-training to spot salvageable materials and take them apart. But if Foreman Spike happens to have a bone to pick and/or is on a power trip, I can easily imagine him adding hard labor on top of whatever plumbing-related jobs they were assigned until their schedule was filled with far more wrecking than plumbing.
But eventually, Mario got all his hours logged, passed his master plumber exam, got his commercial activity license, and got him and his brother the heck out of there. Which brings me to an additional theory that Luigi is still a journeyman plumber and not yet a master plumber.
There's a few bits of Nintendo lore that describe Luigi as something of an "understudy," or otherwise not quite as experienced as his brother in the realm of plumbing.
Which makes sense given the way Luigi seems to take on the apprentice role, closely watching the way Mario works and carrying around all the tools.
I think Luigi didn't immediately know what he wanted to do the moment he graduated high school the way Mario did. Maybe he dabbled in mechanics for a little bit before he ultimately decided to join his bro in his plumbing venture, but as a result he's a few years behind.
#Mario Movie#Mario Headcanons#Mario#Luigi#Super Mario Bros#Super Mario Brothers#I also like to think that Mario apprenticed under an elderly plumber named Sal for a few years before getting roped into The Wrecking Crew#y'know... *nudge nudge* supershow reference *nudge*

❛ i’ve been thinking about you all day. ❜
For Willie and Brady please!
settled.
CERTIFIED MUNCH JOHN BRADY WHO ELSE CHEERED!! this is adults doing adult things under the cut. postwar willie & brady just hit different for some reason. this is nsfw. you've all been warned.
There is no better feeling than this — hands in his hair, breathy sighs against his mouth, John’s hands moving lower, lower, until they’re smoothing against the swell of her ass, squeezing enough for a small giggle to vibrate against his lips. He loves that sound. Loves her. Loves this.
He’s pressing her up against the arm of the couch and she’s tugging at his tie until she can pull it off and let it fall to the floor. This goddamn couch. He’s hoisting her up by the thighs only to settle her back down against its cushions and marvel at her a moment.
It’d been his realization this morning. No more movers, or plumbers, or repairmen. No more furniture to buy or things needed to make this place a home. No more job interviews and looming rejection anxiety.
They were settled. Him and Willie. They’d been married for months but now it felt like they really were and he’s a bit amazed that they got to this point. She’s looking up at him, and he knows they’re both a mess — wrinkled shirts and messy hair and kiss bitten lips.
He doesn’t care. He’s leaning down to crush his lips against hers again and she’s arching her back until their fronts are pressed together. His hand finds her breast, squeezing until he’s fumbling with her blouse buttons and untucking it from the skirt and letting his fingers graze against the delicate lace of her brassiere. He shifts his head, nosing against her neck to inhale the faded scent of her perfume mingled with the smell of old books.
“I’ve been thinking about you all day,” he murmurs against her skin, presses a kiss there and Willie lets out a steady exhale.
“Good work day?” she asks, and just hearing the smile in her voice has him smiling too, dragging his nose up her neck to press a kiss to her jaw, lightly nipping at her ear to make her shiver.
“Mhm, really good,” He’s leaning back then on his haunches, hands hooking into the sides of her skirt to tug, to drink her in. He could bunch the garment around her waist but he doesn’t want to.
They have time now, there’re no movers. No repairmen. And he likes this view of her — flush-cheeked, chest rising and falling, her eyes trained on him. Dark gaze piercing and curious. Typically this would be the part where he’d tease her, make her lay out what she wants in the plainest terms until she’s bright red and grabbing at him. But he’s feeling kind this time, or needy, the line’s blurry and he doesn’t care to dissect it much as her skirt slides off her legs.
“Christ, look at you,” John swears. “Sight for sore eyes, Mrs. Brady.” He drinks in the sight of her blush intensifying.
“John,” Willie huffs out, an arm going over her eyes, the other draped across her middle. He knows what she’s covering up almost instinctually and doesn’t resist when he moves her arms, looming over her to trail kisses from her forehead, nose, lips, down further.
“What? It’s true,” he murmurs against her skin, tongue poking out to trace the divots of her skin; the column of her throat and dips in her collarbones, blunt canine brushing against bone and John tries to withhold the urge to leave a mark where everyone can see it.
“You’re ridiculous,” she giggles, the sound vibrating against him, coupled with a sigh as he kisses at the softness of the tops of her breasts, and then the peaks of them through her brassiere.
“And you’re gorgeous. We can keep stating the obvious if you want,” John offers, as he stalls by the shrapnel scar she’d been covering along her ribs.
He doesn’t know if there are enough words to convey that simple fact: if there is anything in the world he won’t flinch away from, it’s her, so the least he can do is show it. He presses a kiss against pink scar tissue, drags his tongue along its jagged edges and grins at the soft exhale of “John” that tumbles from Willie’s lips. He loves dissecting all the different inflections of the way she says his name, the pitch and breathiness of it — what it means when she says just one to two words.
Lower, lower, he’s lathing kisses down her stomach, her thighs, until his mouth hovers over the apex of them and she’s groping for his hand to lace their fingers and squeeze, pressing it right between her breasts — her heart hammering against the back of his hand.
John kisses her once through the flimsy fabric, grunting at the suppressed sweetness of her before he’s pulling her underwear off with the free hand and bowing his head to taste her in full.
Willie whines, breathless and pitchy as he runs his tongue up and down, circling her bundle of nerves, and then her entrance. Her praises are soft whispers that squeeze at his heart while making him impossibly harder through his slacks. The line between pain and pleasure blurs — he involuntarily ruts his hips against the cushions when her free hand finds his hair and tugs, seeking some form of friction.
There’s a sting there that spurs him forward — nails digging into his hand, tugging his hair. His tongue is working inside her with practiced precision, nose nuzzling at the special bud that has her moaning into the quiet of the living room. Their living room. Their house. He’s grinning against her, looking up at her to drink in the sight of her head tilted back and her eyes screwed shut as she squeezes his hand like a lifeline.
“C’mon Mrs. Brady. Eyes on me,” he coos against her wetness, and Willie takes in a trembling breath before forcing her eyes open to look at him. He chuckles and the sound has one of her feet digging into his shoulder blade. “There she is. Eyes on me.” A kiss to her inner thigh, one where he bites hard enough to leave a mark and elicit another whimper from her before refocusing on that bundle of nerves. He circles it with his tongue — quick, precise movements before he’s sucking it into her mouth.
“John I— Christ I can’t— I need—” she’s stumbling over her words, breathy and trying, clearly, to keep watch of him. Trying not to completely shut her thighs around his head. He wouldn’t be opposed. There’s an ache there from how hard she’s pulling and squeezing and he just grazes his teeth against that bud, just enough to get her back to arch deliciously off their couch cushions and for her to press his head impossibly closer.
“I’ve got you, honey. Promise,” John grunts out through his minstrations.
“I’m gonna—”
“I know. I know.” He doesn’t know if it’s his encouragement or the vibrations of his voice or what that sends her over the edge, but she’s spilling onto his tongue, his chin, and he groans at the taste of her as she relaxes a moment. He presses another kiss to her thigh as she comes down from the high, and then Willie’s eyes zero in on him with some sort of indiscernable newfound determination. She’s reaching for him before he can even pull himself up properly.
“Come here, Mr. Brady,” she huffs, and John is more than happy to open his mouth to her when she pulls his face towards her to kiss him again.

intermission: cleaning out the pipes
You get paid to unclog the toilet, not to ask what clogged it up in the first place. Try not to look. You really don’t want to know what’s in there.
Jordan never went to college himself. Having little experience about what goes on in these college dorms, he just assumed those wild college frat house movies were far-fetched. But then he hears giggles and moans from the room next door, and he wonders how terribly authentic they might be.
Excuse me, you’re doing what?!? With how many boys?!? Quiet little Melissa Fortney from Lakeside Heights? Shy bug girl who had a crush on Beau Jackson and only first learned about sex from Summer Phoenix at the cafeteria lunch table freshman year???
It’s always the quiet ones, isn’t it?
“We’re just messing around,” she says. “Nothing serious.”
Also, panties collection! 😱😆☠️
Jordan hurries downstairs to work on the dorm kitchen instead. Surely nobody is having sex in the kitchen. Surely! Right? Surely he can finish his work unnoticed. Right?
While there’s nothing obscene happening in this kitchen, yet, Delphie Deppiesse is utterly awestruck. She’s harmless, no worries. Valedictorian of her high school class and certified kindness ambassador, her thoughts are chaste, mostly. But she is overwhelmed with the desire to give this man everything he needs… except the space to do his work.
“Hi, we really appreciate your work here. Oh, I bet it’s really hard. (Delphie is far too virginal to even snicker over her use of the word “hard.”) Can I get you a cup of coffee? Can I hold your wrench? I’m eighteen now, by the way, in case you were wondering.”
Jordan wasn’t wondering. At all.
“Excuse me, um, don’t step in that puddle. I’m not insured for student deaths, I don’t think.”
Melissa joins Delphie in her admiration party, still smelling of saliva and other unmentionable fluids because she couldn’t have had the time for even a quick shower.
Didn’t you get your fill upstairs? we might ask.
Hardly, she thinks. Those college boys don’t really know what they’re doing. Melissa has a taste for older men. Men who know how to use their hands. Case in point: Hudson.
Somewhere in a far-off land called their fevered girlish imaginations, a scene unfolds:
His shirt, a size too small, pulls tight across his shoulders and biceps. The shirt is missing a few too many buttons. Torn buttons, actually, destroyed in a fit of passion, revealing a peek of chest hair and begging to be torn the whole way down to reveal the endless wonders beneath.
“Mmm, is that a wrench in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?” the girls ask.
And he says, “I couldn’t leave without making sure everybody’s pipes were cleaned.”
“Whew,” Melissa swoons, “I gotta go write something down.”
“Wait,” Delphie says, “Can I read it?”
So the girls run off upstairs to write a smutty fic and post it on Pillowfort where it will become viral for a few hours, and a small corner of the internet will simultaneously pleasure themselves over visions of a rugged blond plumber.
Finally, Jordan is left to finish his work day in peace, slightly scandalized, thinking, “Two-thousand dollars… two-thousand dollars… two-thousand dollars…”
Until Austin emerges from where he was watching, astounded at how thirsty those girls got over some overalls and a tool belt. And how many chicks could he score with a Halloween costume like that!?!
“Dude, can I, like, buy your outfit?” Austin asks. “I’ll give you twenty bucks for it? Twenty bucks! Man, come on!”
The clock strikes five and it’s clean-up time.
Go home, Jordan. We won’t judge you if you want to run.

Can I ask a question about cop stuff? I'm all for acab, but sometimes I'm put in a position where I would call the cops, but don't and then feel bad? For example, a few days ago a woman was violently crying in my apartment complex while a man (her partner I assume) was yelling. I couldn't hear what was being said, but I was worried and didn't know what I could do to make sure she was safe. My first instinct was 'call the cops' but well. Yeah. Are there alternatives to just calling the cops? I would have gone out to so if she needed help myself, but I'm 5' and not strong at all if things turned ugly so I was worried for my wellbeing as well :/
Imagine a world where in order to get a plumber certification, a person also had to be a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
In that world, in the moment when you had an emergency with your pipes, you might still need to call a KKK plumber. That might be true even if you're one of the groups the KKK despises; you'd just hope this particular person coming to fix the problem wasn't particularly bigoted or wasn't otherwise having a bad day and looking to take it out on you.
But knowing that, what you'd want to do before there was an emergency is make it so that you had better options than "water leak destroying my home and the homes of the people around me" versus "bigots are invited into my home and can do whatever they want with near impunity".
There are alternatives to calling the cops, but that requires work ahead of time. In your situation, do you know those people? Can you talk to the woman ahead of time about what she needs in situations like that, such as contacting other family members of hers? Are there other people in the apartment complex who are larger who could go with you? Etc.
This is hard work and takes time, just like forming a parallel network of non-certified, non-KKK plumbers would be. But the point is to give yourself better options than "do nothing and hope for the best" or "call the gang of racists to show up and do whatever they feel like in the moment".
