NEW OVERNIGHT: Pangansinense Student is soon to promote its first expansion of Balitang A2Z: North Central Luzon in Dagupan City?
SAN CARLOS, PANGASINAN -- An upcoming Mass Communication and Journalism student named Russel Palaganas has made a name for himself on TikTok with his entertaining and self-viral videos. But little did he know that his passion for delivering the news would lead to an incredible opportunity to become a regional newscaster in North Central Luzon of Balitang A2Z under Zoe Broadcasting Network, Inc. (ZBNi), in partnership with DZRR-TV 32's Kapamilya Channel: Dagupan (which was a former name of ABS-CBN regional network group).
Palaganas will be one of the faces of Balitang A2Z, a national news program that aims to provide accurate and relevant information to Filipinos across the nation. He will report on issues and events in Pangasinan and other areas in North Central Luzon, as well for regional news outside of Dagupan and Pangasinan area.
Because of a viral video shown on national television during "Good Vibes" segment... Barbie Muhlach, who is a former traffic angel of DZMM-AM 630khz's Radyo Patrol: Manila (now known as TeleRadyo, in the pre-shutdown of ABS-CBN franchise) and current officer-in-charge for news head and television anchor of Balitang A2Z will soon expand in North Central Luzon if Palaganas made an instance of approval to work with ZBNi and A2Z news team.
Per disclosed text message with A2Z: Manila and ABS-CBN News, with a little help of his parents... Palaganas shared his first experience in Journalism and Mass Communication for the upcoming expansion of Balitang A2Z: North Central Luzon and must be certified in elementary, high school and colleges.
He would write news articles for the school paper and deliver the news on their sponsored local campus TV station in Dagupan City and Pangasinan region within the next several years to come. With his talent for storytelling and charisma on-air, Palaganas caught the attention of ZBNi and was eventually offered a newscaster position after the graduation has met at school level of criteria: "Hindi ko inaasahan na mangyayari ito! Nagpapasalamat lang ako sa pagkakataon at nasasabik akong magsimula ng bagong kabanata sa sarili kong karera. Iyon ay pagkatapos ng aking pag-aaral at graduation muna", Palaganas said in Tagalog dialect.
Palaganas' rise to success is an inspiration to novice journalists and television broadcasters. With the rise of social media and digital platforms, young content creators have more and more opportunities to showcase their talents and make a significant impact in their chosen field: "Gusto kong hikayatin ang mga tao na sundin ang kanilang mga pangarap at huwag akong sumuko. Sa pagsusumikap, determinasyon at kaunting suwerte, lahat ay posible to", he added.
His TikTok account has almost 200 followers without monetization, and his own videos uploaded have been viewed turns to be a bit slim to watch. Palaganas' journey to becoming a news presenter is testament to the power of social media and the importance of pursuing one's passions.
Balitang A2Z airing weeknights at 10:30pm in Manila / 9:30am CST, only on A2Z Channel 11 and other regional partner channels. Also streaming legally on Facebook LIVE, YouTube LIVE & CignalPlay. The regional newscast of Balitang A2Z: North Central Luzon is coming soon, once the expansion of ZBNi and Kapamilya Channel's regional network group will soon to be approved for National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster sa Pilipinas (KBP).

ABS-CBN: 790 liters of oil-water mixture collected from MV Mirola-1
Mirola-1 is the third vessel to cause an oil leak in Bataan this month.
The [Philippine Coast Guard or] PCG is also responding to the oil spill from MTKR Terranova with 1.4 million liters of industrial fuel oil and MTKR Jason Bradley with 5,500 liters of diesel.
According to PCG, “very thin oil sheens” are still observed at ground zero, as of Monday, but control measures are in place, including oil spill booms laid, skimmers on site, and oil dispersants being employed, while fabrication of metal capping is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, the coast guard and contracted salvor FES Challenger Salvour and Builders are continuing salvage operations on MTKR Jason Bradley.
2024 Aug. 5
It is projected that almost 46,000 fisherfolk will be affected by the oil spill if left uncontrolled, particularly in the National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon, and Region 4-A. Currently, Pambansang Lakas ng Mamamalakaya (PAMALAKAYA) reported that 29,000 fisherfolk from Cavite alone, were at risk, while 9,000 fisherfolk in Bataan.
In an earlier report of Bulatlat, those situated in the coastal areas were victims of severe flooding during the onslaught of Carina, particularly in Navotas, where the Navotas Bay Reclamation Project is being built. The project affected 1,000 families, while the New Manila International Airport (NMIA) has displaced around 700 families in Bulacan, according to Laderas.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) confirmed that SL Harbor Bulk Terminal Corporation, a subsidiary of San Miguel Shipping and Lighterage Corporation, chartered the said vessel to transport the industrial fuel oil. SMC is also the company behind the NMIA reclamation and the Mindoro oil spill last year.

Bulatlat on Twitter @bulatlat:
‘Hold San Miguel and PH government accountable:’ Environmentalists, fisherfolk, and scientists hold a press conference today to expose the impacts of compounding problems of recent oil spills, reclamation projects, and inadequate disaster response in the onslaught of Carina.

Reaching the Rio Grande de Pampanga he contemplated his crossing at length. The river was treacherous. It constantly rearranged its bed, cutting off one bank to add to the other, shifting its channel in order to waylay its annual victims. Along its length as it wound about Central Luzon, it dragged railroad ties and entire houses, eroded stone gobiernos and churches, transferred cemeteries as though to make up for bridges that had been erected across it in several places. Now high with the rain of several days it dragged itself across the plain like a snake faking injury in order to attack.

Philippine Geography and Culture: The Wonders of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
Tumblr media
The Philippines is an archipelago comprising over 7,000 Islands. The exact count can vary slightly due to tidal changes and other geographical factors, but the widely accepted number is 7,641 Islands.
The Three Great Island Groups
These Islands are grouped into three major geographical regions or Island groups, which have been used to organize the country's administration, culture, and identity. The three major Island groups are:
1. Luzon, 2. Visayas, and 3. Mindanao. The division into three Island groups has its roots in the country's geography and history. Here's a brief explaination of how these regions came to be defined: 1. Geographical Convenience: The Philippines' vast number of Islands required a practical way to group them. The division into three large regions helps organize governance, transportation, commerce, and other aspects of society. 2. Historical Context: The division reflects historical and cultural pattern in the Philippines. These three Islands have distinct historical background, native languages, and cultural Identities, which contribute to the broader national Identity.
Luzon- is the largest Island group and contains the country's capital, Manila. It is the most populous and economically developed region. This Island group is home to the nation's major political, economic, and cultural centers. Key features include the Cordillera mountain range, the Bicol Peninsula, and the Cagayan Valley.
Visayas- is located in the central part of the Philippines. It consists of smaller Islands like Cebu, Negros, Panay, Leyte, Bohol, and Samar. This region is known for its distinct Visayan languages and rich cultural traditions. The Visayas has a unique Identity with historical influences from Spanish colonization and pre-Hispanic times.
Mindanao- is the southern most and second-largest Island group. It has a diverse population, with many different cultural and religious groups, including a significant Muslim population. Mindanao is known for its rich natural resources, mountains, lakes, and a history of distinct sultanates and autonomous regions.
The three Island groups of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have distinct geographical, historical and cultural characteristics that set them apart. This division allows for more effective administration, representation, and acknowledgment of the unique Identities within each region. Overall, it reflects the Philippines' rich diversity and complex history.
Thank you. Until next time, salamat and see you soon!

Si Ifugao
The Ifugao Rice Terraces represent an outstanding example of human-environmental harmony and interaction. Located in the Philippine Cordillera mountain range on the northern island of Luzon, the Rice Terraces, carved by ancient Ifugao communities are a marvel of engineering and hydrology that have survived because of a vibrant, living Indigenous culture. The rice fields are central to traditions: communal rice planting, sowing, weeding and harvesting rituals bind villages together in a distinct way of life.
