rewatching steven universe rn and going through gem glow knowing where this is where steven’s trauma started…. and even then there’s probably been more instances like this before gem glow that we never saw, but this battle with centi was the part that he pointed to in su future to explain where it all began, the day he summoned his mother’s shield for the first time and was so sure that he could use it to protect his fellow gems and yet he failed…… i’m gonna fucking cry
