The 22LR is a good self defense round ...
I wish everyone would stop going along with the ‘established’ opinion that the 22LR is not a good self defense round, and that the only people who would even consider it are wimps. Even centerfire handgun rounds are not stoppers. No pistol cartridge is. Every pistol cartridge requires that you hit the bad guy multiple times to get him to bleed out. It’s easier to get multiple hits with a…

Perrin Mle 1855 -1st Type- presentation revolver
Designed and manufactured in Paris, France by Louis Perrin. Double-action only revolver due to a spurless hammer, chambered for the early centerfire round 11mm Perrin. This specific piece was highly embellished with embossing, gold foil, an ebony grip reminiscent of antique firelock pistols and an extended barrel flaring at the tip like a cannon. It was made to be presented at the 1855 World Fair or Exposition Universelle in Paris to Napoléon the IIIrd, emperor of the French.

Yo, idk if you've been told, but the story about the olympic silver medalist picking up shooting recently after a divorce is completely made up. He is an ex-military officer and has participated in the olympics since 2008. He set the world record in 25m centerfire pistol in 2006
Aw hell. That's less funny 😔 SAD! well there's other stories

my sister keeps FUCKING TAKING my cat outside & letting her go around loose no collar no harness no up to date shots (before this they literally Never Went Outside even once & we're all super careful abt keeping doors & windows closed so like,,, it's been a nonissue. theyre stupid pampered indoor girls.) even though i have said as CLEARLY AND EXPLICITLY AS POSSIBLE. MULTIPLE TIMES. hey. please don't fucking take my cats outside if you're not Holding Onto Them or they're not on a harness. please do not do this it causes me immense fucking stress and they will literally fucking die if, say, a centerfire gun fires somewhere in the hills and they spook and run, or they see a squirrel and bolt for it, or whatever else. they will get diseases from eating things or they will get eaten by fucking coyotes because we have coyotes!!! i have told her this like FIVE TIMES and every time she goes yeah okay!! and keeps fucking doing it!! i dont give a shit if you think shes cute wandering around we don't even have a fucking fence!!! "she doesn't like the harness :( " yeah and that doesn't mean "take her out without the harness" it means "don't take her out"!!!

Louisiana governor signs new law on hunting dogs to track mortally wounded deer
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has signed a groundbreaking new bill recognizing the importance of using hunter-dogs to recover ‘mortally wounded’ deer.
Act 272 now allows licensed hunters to use dogs to track down mortally wounded deer and permits the use of handguns ‘no longer than six inches’ on these wounded animals.
Under the new law, only one dog per tracking party is allowed in the pursuit of a wounded deer. However, a second dog can be used for training purposes. Tracking dogs must either be on a handheld leash or equipped with a GPS tracking collar. If the deer is found alive, the hunter may use a centerfire handgun with a caliber between .25 and .45.
Please note that this law does not apply to hunting in the Louisiana Department of Wildlife Fisheries Management Areas. Additionally, hunters can only pursue a mortally wounded deer onto private property if they have obtained verbal or written permission from the landowner.
Act 272 will take effect on August 1, 2024.

15 Questions For 15 Mutuals

Tumblr media
Emma Goldman. Russian empire born badass, formative member of American anarchism and labor movements, writer, and distributor of illicit birth control info.
Do you have kids?
Nope, don't plan on it either.
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Not really, at least not anymore. I overused it for a long time.
When was the last time you cried?
About two weeks ago, after having a meltdown at work.
What's the first thing you notice about other people?
Not sure how to quantify that. I pretty much run on vibes and my intuition.
Eye color?
A steely blue. Been told a decent amount of times they are purty.
What sports do you/have you played?
Was one of the top youth shooters in NY for a bit (rimfire rifle and centerfire handgun). Also willingly participated in cross-country track, rugby, and hockey.
Any special talent?
I dont really believe in talent. Rather, that skill can be developed without active intent via sheer interest and practice.
Where were you born?
The Finger Lakes region of NY
Scary movies or happy endings?
Depends on my mood
Do you have any pets?
Two beautiful, irritating shadow bois that I would 100% kill and die for.
Tumblr media
How tall are you?
5'11"
What are your hobbies?
Mostly, media consumption, but all sorts of stuff works its way in and out depending on what I'm hyperfixating on at the time.
Favorite subject in school?
Whatever subject had a teacher willing to and capable of engaging me at the time. Science, english and history tended to be near the top.
Dream job?
Not having a job. I'd still perform labor outside modern wage slavery, but what I was doing would likely shift based on season and what I was interested in at the time.

@noctechoro gets a starter for Ailill!
Riddle laughed softly. Yes, it was late, and yes he should be slightly worried. But he had grown... more at ease at times, more relaxed. Which was why he didn't mind being out so late at the moment, moonlight in his hair and the chill breeze stinging his face as he and Vorpal enjoyed a weekend trot with Blake having to find one of the newer hedgies before it got too close to the centerfire.
Though, he did look as he heard hoofbeats coming forward. he knew vaguely who that was and he tightened his grip on the reins, eying the other carefully.

MVAC demonstrated shovel testing at the United Fund for the Arts and Humanities (UFAH) Annual Campaign event on September 21, 2022. UFAH has been a partner and supporter of MVAC since 1986. This year’s UFAH Annual Campaign event at the new Capella Performing Arts Center in La Crosse provided a great opportunity for MVAC staff to show how archaeologists look for sites in urban areas, and to share information on archaeological finds and past cultures in La Crosse.
Our shovel test was in a raised area that we figured was historic fill, and it that's what it turned out to be-- it was dark as deep as the shovel could reach, with no natural soil profile. Most of what we found was expected for fill around an 1880s building:
2 pieces of brick 2 small pieces of charcoal 4 square nails 2 pieces of coal 2 small fragments of animal bone (one "calcined," or burned at high temperature so it turned white)
The one thing that was unexpected was an old live cartridge--not just a bullet or an empty casing. The bullet had turned to a gray/white lump of lead oxide, and the casing didn't have any imprint on the bottom. The bottom also didn't have a primer, meaning that it was a rimfire cartridge that would be set off when the edge was hit, rather than a centerfire cartridge. Measurements of the casing showed that the cartridge was a .44 Henry, used beginning in the Civil War era with Henry repeating rifles, then later for Winchester rifles as well as other guns such as Colt revolvers. So, like the other items, it was a find compatible with the age of the building. Since it was still full of powder (probably black powder), and we found it in fill that came from an unknown location rather than a good archaeological context, we won't keep it in our collections. Instead, we'll be disposing of it safely.
We never know what we're going to find!
