just watched centaurworld and you cannot tell me there wasn't conflict in the writer's room about horse x rider

(screenshots below including the finale so spoilers)

so in S2E4 Horse says this refering to Becky Apples

and then later that very same episode she says this to wamawink comparing the situation between her and jeffica to horse and becky apple's situation

what are these mixed messages I'm being given

then in the series finale the nowhere king compares himself to horse

in regards to the situation between them and their "humans"

the situation between the nowhere king and his "human" being very much romantic

and then there's how sensual they made all of these scenes

and there's many times where it looks like they almost kiss

and the whole U-Haul lesbian thing in regards to this

but then there's all this

so in conclusion I think there was conflict in the writer's room about this so there's multiple things pointing both ways and to be clear I don't condone this ship I just wanted to publish my thoughts on what happened to make this how it is, and if you're trying to think of a reason why this could have happened in canon then perhaps the centaurworld's anthropomorphism of Horse it turned horse's bond to rider into a romantic one because the bond between a horse and their rider isn't really something that exists between two anthropomorphic beings

And while it is a beautiful song and a beautiful scene, I wrote down the lyrics specifically to appreciate how amazingly they foreshadow that what the Elktaur felt (at least by this point) wasn't love, just a crazy obsession with Woman. Also the song, by describing how he feels about her, also showcases how he doesn't feel about himself, even when he should.

"I swear, I will never stop thinking about you": already starting kinda obsessive, but okay, if you're feshly in love or do something big like a wedding, I can see how you might proclaim something like that. The fact that he follows through with it even while they haven't seen each other in ages is kinda creepy, but still something that might be viewed as romantic. But if you ask me, he should maybe have spent less time thinking about her and more time trying to think like her. She loved centaurworld, she loved the rift connection between both worlds and wanted it to be open, she was given to kindness for all things. And by splitting and keeping himself in halves and thus creating the Nowhere King he ruined all of that for her.

"And if you should hurt me I'll always forgive you": again, weird sentiment that might be okay on such an emotional day, but if you think about it, actually not a good sign. Like, General, my guy, if your partner hurts you (repeatedly), they should not just get absolution for that from the start. That's not healthy. Also, where's even a fraction of that forgiveness towards yourself?

"You are a part of me": you know who is even more a part of you, General? Hm? Do you?

"I will never part from you": well, I suppose at least they're matched in their unhealthy relationship ideals?

"She was meant to be mine": she belongs to noone but herself, Noone. And if you truely loved her you would a) be happy she found someone and b) not stalk around on her wedding uninvited.

"Even through hardship and darkness and pain, From you I won't hide": for one - General, you lying fucking ass. You literally tore yourself in half just to hide you centaur half from Woman. And once again, where's that sentiment for yourself? So you can stick with this random human through hardship, darkness and pain, but not with yourself? I think you might have the wrong priorities here, my guy.

So yeah, in conclusion Elktaur should probably have been comfortable saying all of this to himself before going around throwing it at someone else.

Why does nobody talk about how even if the Elktaur confessed his love to the Princess, he wouldn’t’ve been able to love and accept his cebtaurhood. It’s likely he would’ve tried to split himself even if he knew he was accepted by the Princess because his dysphoria weren’t caused by falling in love with her, only amplified. He was destined to fall down this path no matter what.

This smelly bastard is a walking trans allegory and I will die on this hill.

one thing that irked me about the centaurworld finale was when horse revealed the true identity of the nowhere king and rider pulled that "you're just a horse" bs. I remember watching that for the first time and I had to pause the show because it sounded so out of character for her. yeah, she just heard something absolutely batshit insane that goes against everything she knows, but belittling horse- her best friend and sister- doesn't feel right. I think it would have been far more devastating if, when horse told rider to trust her, she responded with "just this once, I can't" because I know that would have killed me

I can’t believe the lines “You can’t let the ghosts out when you’re the one who’s the haunted house” and “I am now ready to silence all of this poison you fed me thinking I’d never grow wise” came from this show. Who am I going to recommend this show to, this show with its too many fart jokes and brain-cell-killing humor and Comfortable Doug? This is the most complex villain in modern media and so few will ever know. I drew this angry and I’m still angry.

2. Do you think the final choice the Woman made at the end was the right one? Why or why not?

From the Woman’s perspective I don’t think it was about making the right or wrong choice. It was about finally closing this chapter of her life. We already see this at the end of season 1 when Wammawink asks her to „think of the fragile things“ and Woman replies with „No“. Not „That’s what I’m doing“ or „I try to protect all fragile things by keeping the Nowhere King locked up“. Just a No. She’s not thinking about anyone but herself anymore and having the Nowhere King locked up between the worlds keeps him conviniently out of sight and out of mind. By the end of season 2 she has learned just how much the Nowhere King and the General fooled her. She also knows now that nothing will stop him from trying again and again to manipulate her into being with him. I think she knows she won’t be able to resist forever – it took Horse pointing out how fucked up this all is on the battlefield for her to even get properly mad at him for what he’s done. I think she sees killing him as her only escape, for she knows if she doesn’t, she will have pity with him and let herself get hurt again. „What a pity to behold; rest now tormented soul. Don’t you know I would have loved you the way you were – whole?“ is what she sings right before that final decision. I think, even at this point, she has not grasped that the Elktaur was never whole – not even as one being. He was already at war with himself and being in one body didn’t change that. But she doesn’t recognize this, so from her point of view he is now whole „again“ – so what could stop her from loving him again? But she knows she has to hold him accountable for what he did and this is the only way she knows how to, the only way to ensure they won’t fall back into their toxic codependency.

From a more general point of view I think it’s more debatable. She had already used the key to put his halves back together – the Nowhere King only exists inside the Elktaur now, not as a big, powerful being with insane mind control powers. He could simply be locked up.

Most importantly I think the Elktaur was okay with it, wanted it even. He wants to be put out of his misery already and probably doesn’t trust himself not to repeat his mistakes.
