More Bajoran Headcanons
Archery and charioteering are traditional Bajoran sports associated with women
The preferred animal for chariot racing is the fabor, an animal with green horns. The lopp requires a specialized harness due to their neck spines, and verdanises are generally considered to have too delicate a constitution to pull most chariots (though they are ridden in races by single riders). Fabor also tend to be more fierce than both, making handling them during a race a greater act of skill.
Pre-Interplanetary travel Bajoran architecture had round foundations that gradually faded out of use for many, except in particularly windy locales where they ate still standard
Fasting is believed by some to have a magical/spiritual power, in that fasting against or in favor of an individual can curse or bless/sanctify them, respectively. Folkloric tales abound of a person refusing to eat in grief, and causing whoever aggreived them to fall ill, face misfortunes, or die.
The purpose of the death chant, and reason for it's lack resulting in a ghost, is that not performing grief would be considered a curse stating in its silence that the person did not live well, and is not worthy to enter the Temple.
Bajoran meditation, while not done solely for this purpose, is also said to potentially have magical/spiritual power. In stories it is portrayed that sufficient concentration generates heat, with heroes meditating in snow or icy waters and making them melt, warm, or even boil.

Iron Age and Roman Artifacts Found in Wales
Metal detectorist Ian Porter unearthed sixteen historical artifacts in a boggy field on Anglesey. Among the items found were Iron Age chariot fittings, a metal ram’s head, and a Roman copper ingot, and offer a window into the island’s rich past during the Iron Age and Roman times.
Ian Porter made the discovery on March 4, 2020, while metal detecting in a field under pasture in the Llanfair-Mathafarn-Eithaf Community.
The unusual bronze, copper, and lead artifacts are believed to have been gifted as repeated religious offerings around an ancient sacred spring source during the Late Iron Age and into the Romano-British period.
The additional artifacts, all of Roman date, include a decorated brooch, four coins, and a lead pot repair. A large and complete Roman copper ingot weighing 20.5kg was also discovered, probably smelted copper deriving from the nearby Roman copper mine at Parys Mountain.
Tumblr media
The chariot fittings, cavalry harness pieces, and brooch were all placed around AD 50-120, around the time of, or soon after the invasion of the island by the Roman army in AD 60/61.
The coins and other artifacts suggest a continuing practice of votive gifting around the spring throughout the Roman period, the latest coin in the group being struck around AD 364-378.
Adam Gwilt from Amgueddfa Cymru, Museum Wales, emphasized the role of these finds in understanding ancient religious ceremonies against a backdrop of conflict and change.
Gwilt said: “This culturally mixed artifact group, containing both Iron Age chariot fittings and Roman cavalry fittings, is an important new find for the island.
Tumblr media
Artifacts were declared treasure by the senior coroner for north-west Wales. They provide unique insights into the cultural and religious practices on Anglesey, an island of significant historical importance during the Roman invasion of Britain.
The presence of Iron Age and Roman artifacts near the sacred spring indicates a blending of cultures and traditions, emphasizing the complex relationship between native inhabitants and Roman invaders. This discovery sheds light on the religious significance of watery sites, which were frequently used for offerings during times of upheaval.
“The ram’s head fitting, probably a vehicle-fitting or staff head is decorated in the late Celtic art style. It is a closely observed and quirky depiction of the ram and a likely future ‘star’ exhibit loved by many for Oriel Môn,” Gwilt added.

The symbolism of everything associated with Elain 🌹
Tumblr media
(by rinamoart)
_Roses
In Roman mythology, roses, known as the queen of flowers, were created by Flora, the goddess of flowers and spring. After the death of her favorite nymph, Flora transformed her into a rose. Aphrodite added beauty to it, Dionysus gave it its scent, and Ares provided it with thorns for protection. As a result, the rose became a symbol of pure beauty and rebirth.
In another tale, after the birth of Aphrodite, roses appeared as a symbol of purity and innocence when her feet touched the earth.
In the myth of Eros and Psyche, after he saved her, to celebrate their marriage, Zeus scattered roses all over the Earth as a symbol of love, beauty, and the devotion of soulmates.
_Violets
Violet derives from the Latin word "viola" and is associated with thoughts filled with love. The Greeks and Romans believed that this flower had various medicinal properties. Violets were linked to Aphrodite and were used in love potions, as well as associated with Artemis, symbolizing innocence and modesty. Additionally, violets are seen as a representation of the cycle of death and rebirth. When Hades abducted Persephone, she was picking violets.
_Jasmine and Honey
Jasmine, often referred to as the "queen of the night," means "a gift from God." It is believed to be a symbol of purity, eternal love, beauty, innocence, warmth, and good luck. Jasmine is also associated with rebirth, as it blooms at night and releases its fragrance during darkness, symbolizing the idea of finding light in the midst of darkness. Its sweet and alluring scent is considered an aphrodisiac, believed to evoke feelings of passion and desire.
Honey's scent is also often associated with Aphrodite because of its sweet, feminine, and seductive aroma.
_Amethyst:
Considered as the "stone of new beginnings," is believed to have been worn as a ring by St. Valentine and is closely associated with love. Its color symbolizes wisdom, purity, power, and nobility.
_Ivy:
It is associated with perseverance and determination, as it can climb and cling to surfaces. It represents the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth, as it persists, regenerates, and remains green throughout the changing seasons. In both Celtic and Greek mythology, it is seen as a symbol of growth, healing, and protection.
_Fawn:
It is associated with the cyclical nature of life and represents innocence, gentleness, and purity. It can also symbolize growth and transformation.
_The sun at dawn:
In Greek mythology, dawn is associated with the goddess Aurora. She rises from a river at the start of each day, riding her chariot across the sky. She is adorned with a purple mantle of stars that unfolds behind her, and she spreads flowers as she passes, announcing the arrival of the sun. Aurora symbolizes love, beauty, healing, and new beginnings. Despite experiencing a great deal of grief, she never chooses hatefulness or revenge; instead, she prefers to spread love, colors, and wisdom. (she's Elain lol)

Important Facts about Lughnasadh from an Irish Celtic Reconstructionist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spelling and Pronunciation
OI. Lughnasadh (Loo-na-sa), sometimes spelled Lughnasa or Modern Irish Lúnasa. Not to be confused with other harvest festivals like Lammas.
Dates
Most reconstructionists celebrate Lughnasadh on July 31st - August 1st from sundown to sundown by the Gregorian calendar, while others choose to celebrate the transitional period between the months as they would have been by the Julian calendar (about 13 days later by the Gregorian calendar).
Traditionally this festival likely would have happened as the grains were ready for harvesting or possibly even when the wild bilberries were ripe (as some scholars mention that if the grains were not ripe they would still preform a ritualized ‘first harvesting’ but it is possible this tradition came after the festival was firmly tied to a calendar date.)
Importance in the Mythos
In the mythologies it is well documented that this festival coincides with Lugh’s funeral games in honor of his foster-mother Tailtiu, known as Aonach Tailteann. In the mythologies she is said to have died of exhaustion after clearing the plains of Ireland for agricultural needs. The first documented instance of Lughnasadh in the mythologies was in the Wooing of Emer, Tochmarc Emire, which makes sense given the importance of marriages at this time of the year. It is not known specifically but widely speculated that the curse of the Ulstermen by Macha took place at a horse race for this festival.
In later time periods it is common to see a form of struggle, normally between the ‘protective’ forces and ‘destructive’ forces. The modern equivalent being the struggle between Saint Patrick and Crom Dubh but this is likely a reflection of an early struggle between Lugh and Balor (which I previously mentioned in my info-dump on Bealtaine).
Celebration Traditions
Aonachs, funeral games, have (to the best of our knowledge) been a custom in Ireland since the bronze age and were practiced on and off into the middle ages. They had both personal and community functions and occurred in three stages. Stage one was the funeral proceedings themselves. They would last one to three days, likely depending on the importance of the individual in question. Mourning songs and chants were participated in by both the attendees and the Druids. The second stage was for proclaiming of laws. Aonachs were a time when universal peace between túaths was declared. The third stage was that of Cuiteach Fuait, games that tested mental and physical abilities. These games included the well known horse and chariot races, wrestling games, boxing, high jumps but also competitions in strategy, singing, story telling and between various skilled craftsmen.
It was incredibly common for marriages to be arranged and preformed during this festival. More well known ‘trial marriages’ (lasting a year and a day) were still preformed at this festival up until the 13th century. It is likely that the coupling occurring at this time of year had an effect on the relationship to births seen at Imbolg (which falls 9 months later).
MacNeill, a leading scholarly expert on the festival, notes that a ritualistic bull sacrifice was made at this festival and the bull would then be eaten. I could not find any definitive evidence to support the idea, but I think it was likely that bulls in general would be culled from the herd at this point in the year to supply the feast.

Here’s an odd post but I am a language student and Irish so here’s what I’d name ER characters with respect to the game’s Celtic inspiration in world & design. (With my notes and rambling.)
"Margit" - "Cairbre" (Chariot Rider - Irish)
> Not for the meaning, but this was an incredibly common name in medieval Ireland. Given Morgott's incredible skill in coming up with an alias (Morgott/Margit??,) I thought it would be appropriate for him to say the equivalent of "er... John."
Morgott - Aimhirghin (Born of Song - Irish)
Mohg - Ainbheartach (Roughly ‘Evil Deed’ - Irish)
> I wanted Morgott & Mohg's names to still be 'matching,' but to have opposite meanings. Aimhirghin, in the more literal sense, translates to 'wonderous birth,' whereas Ainbheartach is more along the lines of "ill-doer" in a literal translation, although it doesn't exactly pan out to English.
Malenia - Lasairíonait (Pure flame - Irish)
Miquella - Laoidheach (Poetic - Irish)
> Giving Miquella a Christian name of Spanish origin reads so badly to me (I don't really care for scrutinizing if it's feminine or masculine.) I also do NOT believe in naming all of them with the initials of George R. R. Martin. Malenia's name is slightly ironic given her affliction / rot.
Godwyn - Heulyn (Ray of Sun - Welsh)
Godrick - Sulwyn (Fair-Sun - Welsh)
Godfrey - Sulemyr (Sun-King - Welsh)
> I really sincerely hated God/frey/wyn/rick. I understand that it's a 'tradition' of the Golden Lineage, but I think it would've been more appropriate to instead have the prefix 'Sul' passed down (Sun) especially given the conflict between the Golden Order and the Carians who are heavily associated with the moon.
Rykard - Cno (Devourer - Welsh)
Radhan - Cynfarch (Chief, ‘Horse’ - Welsh)
Ranni - Rhiannon (Great Queen - Welsh)
Rennala - Gwlithen (Dewdrop - Welsh)
> The name Rhiannon is derived from a goddess / figure in Welsh mythology who is associated with the moon, and was known in Welsh folklore for being enticing yet unreachable, which could be associated with Ranni's Age of Stars ending (where she leaves the world without gods for 1000 years.) Rykard's is very on-the-nose, as is Radahn's.
Radagon - Ruaidhrí (Red-haired king - Irish)
Marika - Gwawrwen (Radiant Day - Welsh)
>These are VERY self-explanatory, but I had also considered the name Tuathlaith, or "the people's ruler" for Marika.

NAKSHATRAS AS GODDESSES
1/27
🐎ASHWINI🐎
DISCLAIMER: This is based solely on my research and the patterns that I saw. I can't promise that I'm gonna be sure in all the coorelations, but I'm going to attribute each nakshatra a goddess that I think fits it the closest. If you're dissapointed, to make up for it, I'm going to list some other deities in the end that I think also fit the nakshatra. Don't come for me if you think I'm wrong, be respectful in the comments if you think so and have fun 🤍
While researching, at first it was obvious that no deity was as perfect for Ashwini as Ashwini Kumaras themselves. I still tried to search for a Goddess that would be most similar to this nakshatra's energies and I kid you not, I've found the exact goddess I was looking for. Definitely was not expecting this.
Saule
Pronounced "sow-lay"
Tumblr media
Pantheon: Lithuanian
Name meaning: The sun
Main associations: The Sun, fertility, healing, helping women and children, red apple, gold.
Symbols: The Sun, apples, colors gold and red.
The Baltic people believed the Sun to be a disc, dancing and rolling around. Saule is the literal representation of the sun, who, not unlike the Greek god Helios, rides a chariot pulled by two horses. The horses are mostly described as white and sometimes golden, and they're called, believe it or not, the Asviniai. It seems that the word has an Indo-European root.
Tumblr media
The deities assigned to Ashwini are Ashwini Kumaras_twin horsemen, depicted as young, healthy and handsome men who can heal people.
Tumblr media
Like their power, Saule is associated with healing, regeneration and also fertility. She rides in her copper-wheeled carriage with her trusted horses, flying through the sky every day, bringing light and warmth to Earth. In regards to her appearance, she's frequently depicted with long golden hair, as well as being associated with gold and amber in general. She's described as being dressed in golden silk. Being the goddess of health and vitality, she had horses that would never tire nor sweat.
At night Saule would bathe her horses and go to the underworld. She was married to the moon god Menesis. Their first child was Earth, then followed other children: the Stars. It's said that her husband was very carefree, sometimes sneaking out of their castle in his moon carriage, thus leaving the world to darkness. Despite having a husband, ultimately, Saule is a sovereign and independent goddess.
As the setting sun, Saule is known as the falling red apple, a ring or a crown. She's strongly associated with the color red, and also apples and apple trees. Other plants associated with her are daisies, sunflowers, roses and linden.
Saule is honored every year at summer solstice.
Tumblr media
I want to talk a little about why I coorelated her to Ashwini but first, I'll talk about the goddess extremely similar to her- Norse goddess Sol/ Sunna. She's also associated with the sun, healing, regeneration and has a chariot pulled by two horses, one of which is called Allsvinn (very fast), the other is called Arvak (early rising). Also, one of her many names literally means "Gold".
I think the association of these goddesses with Ashwini kumaras is clear, but I chose the Baltic goddess saule as to me the Baltic culture is more similar to Ashwini's energies than the Norse (You'll definitely see Norse goddesses in this series tho). Baltic people also have gods which are basically their equivalent of Ashwini Kumaras, twin horsemen gods called Ašvieniai. It's crazy to me that two cultures that you wouldn't think have anything in common basically share a deity.
Other deities that can be associated with Ashwini other than Saule:
Sunna- Norse goddess of the Sun, healing and fertility.
Ašvieniai- Baltic twin horsemen gods who have a gift of healing
Rhiannon- Celtic goddess known as "The Horse Queen", goddess of movement, leadership, the night, the moon and death.
Epona- Celtic goddess most strongly linked to horses (and you can tell by her name)
That's it for Ashwini🤍❤ I love my horse- people😅🤍 I genuinely do, there's no one like you guys, you are very healing and refreshing to be around. Keep going 🐎🐎
Don't forget to comment if u liked this or you can interact in any way .

Sorry to bother you, is this a real Welsh thing that exists ?
not bothering me at all! so, while I don't know if that exact thing happened, I do trust Mhara Starling because she is very good at putting out accurate information on welsh folklore.
however, fun bit of history for you! you know the stereotype of the celtic tribes, specifically welsh, running into battle naked and screaming and covered in blue paint? that wasn't our traditional way of warfare. we were actually very efficient at war, it is theorised we actually created the longbow! caesers account of first coming to Britain was seeing celtic tribes in chariots lining up along the cliffs in war gear and war formation, it actually scared them because they knew they had no chance fighting us on the beaches, which is why they abandoned that plan and went a different way.
we were also incredibly good at psychological warfare. the druids tricked the roman invaders into participating in a mass human sacrifice and that absolutely terrified the roman army. you have a highly trained roman army that understand traditional war tactics, so what did we do? we did what scared them. we got naked and ran onto the fields in an ambush screaming. it wigged the romans out so much they were afraid of us. we took on the savage stereotype and used it to our advantage. the welsh were incredibly good at ambush warfare, we would surround camps and pick the men off one by one, all while looking like blue demons and screaming nonsense. we were unpredictable and wild and that frightened the roman army.
so while I don't know if that exact scenario happened, going off historical context, I can definitely see a female welsh warrior dropping to her knees, taking her top off and yelling just to freak the enemy out.

Sun cross, also called solar cross, sun wheel, is one of oldest symbols, dating back to prehistoric cultures. It has been found around the world and holds different interpretations to various cultures. It is believed to be one of oldest religious symbol in world, with links to Indian, Asian, American and European religious art from prehistoric ages.
The symbol, and its many variations, have been found around the world. Carvings from the Bronze Age show the solar cross depicted on burial urns, dating back to 1440 BC. It makes appearances on ancient cave walls, in places of worship, on coins, artwork, sculptures and in architecture.
Most basic form of sun cross features an equilateral cross set within a circle. This variation is known as Odin’s cross in Norse culture. It represented Odin, the most powerful of Nordic gods. Interestingly, English word cross is derived from Norse word for this symbol – kros.
Celtic pagan god of thunder, Taranis, was often depicted with a spoked wheel in his hand, often associated with the solar cross. This wheel has been found on Celtic coins and jewelry. The Celtic cross is believed to be a variation of the wheel of Taranis, with the circle in its center believed to represent the sun.
Swastika is a variation of the solar cross, featuring bent arms in a turning motion. This symbol was considered a good luck charm and used around the globe by many cultures, including the Native Americans, until Hitler appropriated it and altered its positive symbolism forever.
It’s a symbol of sun, an object that has been worshipped since ancient times. Belief was that symbol represented chariot wheel of Sun god. Ancient kings in Egypt and elsewhere used this symbol as they saw it as representing highest power – sun. It represents wheel, which gave power, strength and mobility to people and society. In modern astronomy, the solar cross is used as the symbol for the Earth, rather than the sun.
In Christianity, sun cross represents a halo, which is associated with angels and saints. Christians also consider it a symbol of the power of God. --Archaeo - Histories

Gold Coin Reveals Unknown British King
New light has been shed on a little-known part of British history thanks to the extraordinary discovery of a coin bearing the name of a forgotten Iron Age ruler in Hampshire, south-east England.
The coin, which has the inscription “Esunertos,” was discovered by a metal detectorist in a field in Hampshire. Esunertos may have ruled as a king from the powerful Danebury Fort, according to experts’ speculation, and this find has been hailed as “one of the outstanding discoveries of recent decades.”
Leading Iron Age experts have studied the coin and deduced it to be struck by a pre-eminent male figure dubbed ‘IISVNIRTOS’ whose name translates as ‘Mighty as the God Esos’.
The coin was struck sometime between 50 and 30 BC, shortly after Julius Caesar’s first Roman raid of Britain in 55 BC.
The coin, which is thought to have been produced between 50 and 30 BC, was struck in conjunction with Julius Caesar’s first Roman raid on Britain in 55 BC when the Roman general and his 20,000 soldiers landed on the Kent coast. Despite a confrontation with Celtic warriors on the beach, the Romans encountered difficulties landing due to rough seas and eventually had to return home.
Tumblr media
Gregory Edmund, Iron Age Coin Specialist at Spink Auctioneers said: “This fabulous piece of prehistoric artwork completes the mental image we have when we think of Iron Age Britain – the war horse and chariot.
“But it also surprises us with the appearance of classical languages like Latin.
Dr John Sills of the Celtic Coin Index at the Ashmolean Museum said: ‘It is one of the outstanding discoveries of recent decades in Celtic numismatics.’
Initially, it was anticipated that the gold coin would sell for around £4,000 ($5000) at auction. But contrary to all expectations, it broke a record at Spinks Auction by selling for an astounding £20,400 ($25,500).
The coin was found by Lewis Fudge, a metal detectorist who received permission to search a farmer’s field in March this year. Lewis Fudge expressed his elation, stating:
“I am over the moon. If it were not for people in the auction room, I would have jumped around. The collectors I spoke to are gobsmacked. I’m so glad I did not take them up on their private offers before the auction. To think my find has generated its own Wikipedia page is incredible.”
Tumblr media
Spink Auctions describe the coin as a quarter slater with the obverse side of the coin bearing the name Esunertos in Latin, and with the worn head of Apollo formed of three interlocking rows of outward facing crescents, a seven-spoked wheel at center in lieu of the ear, and an eye of visage with radiating spike towards the neckline.
The reverse of the coin has a tripled-tailed horse, with a pincer-like mandible for face and linear ear, with pelleted mane, yoke or bucranium above the head, an 8-spoked wheel above spearing into the horse’s back, and double or triple ringed annulet below.

Using Tarot to Predict How Long You Will Live
Some readers turn down questions about health, birth and death. Maybe because of a law that prohibits them from giving medical advice, or perhaps they do not trust themselves to make such crucial predictions. I believe in trying my best to help those who come to me. That is why I find it cruel to dismiss any question that is asked to me respectfully.
STEP 1
Shuffle the cards as you ask, “How long will I live?”
STEP 2
Lay a Celtic Cross spread.
STEP 3
Observe the major arcana.
0 The Fool – 7 The Chariot: You will pass before your first Saturn Return is complete. The oldest you may live is 31 years.
8 Strength – 14 Temperance: You will pass before your second Saturn Return is complete. The oldest you may live is 60 years. The youngest, 32.
15 The Devil – 20 Judgement: You will pass before your third Saturn Return is complete. The oldest you may live is 90 years. The youngest, 61.
21 The World: You will live for 91 years or more.
STEP 4

Admin: hey I'm still alive :D I haven't done a main post in so long and I'm slowly getting back into it! I felt like doing a little bit of angst so here's this monstrosity. Keep in mind I'm not a writer. Except more writing in the future! I want to progress this bot more
A bit of background knowledge: Hœnir's original home was constantly at war with another group. They fought for years and neither side were winning. The leaders of both groups decided to offer up their best warriors to give to the other side. Hœnir happened to be one of them who was traded off. They would torture Nir constantly. It took Nir years to escape and ever since then, they have been looking for him.
Warnings: my shitty writing skills, kidnapping, torture, stabbing, force fed glass, blood, broken bones, beating

Arawn was sitting at a table along with some of the other Celtic and Norse gods. They all had a meeting planned and more gods started to trickle in. Arawn was bouncing his leg nervously and chewing on his lip. It was rather quiet amongst the gods, they all could hear his platformed shoe squeak as it bounces on the marble floor.
He taps his finger on the arm rest before clearing his throat to break the silence. "Has anyone seen Nir recently?" He asks, scanning the other's faces. Most mutter quietly, trying to think back to the last time they saw the small god.
"I saw them yesterday at their café. He gave me a cookie." Morrigan speaks up softly, already starting to get worried. "I've had an off feeling all day... do you think?-" She gasps and covers her mouth. "No it couldn't be them. Would they really do that?"
All the gods and goddesses eye each other sadly before collectively getting up and preparing what they need.

*28 hours earlier at Hœnir's café*
It was around 8 at night when Hœnir was closing up their café. They locked the door and put on noise canceling head phones. There was some loud noises going on outside and it was giving him a headache. The only thing they could hear was his own thoughts. They quietly humed to themself as they cleaned up around the café and tidied it all up. He stood up straight and took a minute to look around at everything, making sure nothing was out of place.
Just as he was looking over the café, a group of three people snuck up quietly behind him. One of them took a cloth and put it over Nir's mouth and the other two held his arms and legs still.
Nir was thrashing around and attempting to use their powers to get out of the unknown peoples grips. However, whatever was on the cloth prevented Nir from using any of their powers. His eyes slowly rolled back into their head as they fell unconscious.

*back at Asguard*
Morrigan was focusing on trying to find Hœnir. Due to some of her powers, she can sense where any sort of violence and disruption is. Her eyes shoot open when she finally can see a glimpse of Nir. "He's there."
Those were the only two words she got out before Arawn, her, Cailleach, Donn, and Balor got up to leave. The other gods were on stand by and watching from the sidelines, ready to jump in.
Loki said their goodbyes to Donn, doing their best to hold back any tears. "You die and I bite you." She mumbled to Donn, who only chuckled in response. They share a kiss and Donn leaves to go to the chariot.
Arawn was facetiming his boyfriend, mumbling quietly to keep their conversation private. He puts the phone in his pocket, but doesn't hang up. He zips up the pocket and follows close behind Donn.
"Am I the only one excited for this?" Cailleach bounces. "I'm ready to make people sick!" She squeals as Morrigan nods her head in disappointment. Balor grins and wraps an arm around Cail. "I'm excited too~ I haven't hurt anyone since I got locked in that damn cell." He fixes his mask and pulls both Cailleach and Morrigan to the chariot. And with that, the five gods and goddesses were off.

Below this cut has a bit of a torture scene! Please read the warnings
*It has been 32 hours since Hœnir has been captured. They have been taken to a dungeon and is tied up with enchanted rope. During those many hours, they have been hit and kicked countless times, and both of his legs are broken. He's positive one of the bones in their legs have been shattered*
Hœnir is exhausted. They don't know how many hours they have been awake for. They just want to fall asleep and hope this nightmare will be over. His legs were aching from being forced to sit on and because both were bent at angles that shouldn't be bent.
It was silent in the room. Hœnirs eyes slowly started to fall close. He thought he was safe at the moment. They let their guard down as they slowly fall deep into their thoughts. Nir was ripped away from that trance by a heavy kick to the side. Loud crunching can be heard which causes Nir to grit his teeth, trying their best to fight off a pained whimper.
They do their best to keep a straight face, not wanting to show any pain or weakness. His nose scrunches up slightly when his hair was grabbed, forcing his head back. One of his kidnappers was holding up a small bag full of glass shards.
"Remember this?~" They ask with an evil grin. Any colour left in Nir's face dropped. "No-" he barely mutters out before his mouth his forced open.
"Oh yes you do~ now open up. This will only hurt for a bit~" He laughs and grabs a shard of glass, shoving it into the back of Nir's throat.

*back to the 5 gods/goddesses*
The five godly beings arrived at the destination. They made it into the building quietly before all hell broke lose. There was about 40 people waiting inside for them.
*I'm really bad at fight scenes but basically it takes the gods about 15 minutes to defeat all of them*
Morrigan stood up once she defeated the last person. She stretches her arms up and wraps the deep stab wound she has on her arm. "Its been a long time since I've done this- I'm rusty as hell."
Cailleach runs over to Morrigan and hugs her tight. "I got to fight people!" She squeals happily. There was one person still barely left alive. He grabbed Cail's foot and yanked her down. She smacked her cheek hard on the ground, causing the skin to break open. "Well thats fucking rude-" She coughs on him which causes him to get sick with the bubonic plague and slowly die. She hops up and dusts her shirt off. "Did you see that Morr?! I missed making people sick!" She bounces and hugs Morrigan tight again.
Morrigan chuckles and tugs Cail. "You can tell me all about it later. But first we need to get Hœnir."
Balor slowly walks behind the two girls with his ax swung over his shoulder. "Huh.. I don't think my fingers are supposed to be facing that direction." He mutters and looks at his hand curiously.
Arawn practically drags Donn out of the main room and the two of them run everywhere to find Nir. They head down into the dungeons where they can hear small pained noises. Arawn quickly covers up his bloodied hand with a bandage and looks over at Donn.
Donn nods, silently communicating with each other. He summons the dead which causes his arms to go black all the way up to his shoulders. He tightly closes his eyes, trying to ignore the burning sensation. He acts quick and commands the dead to barge into the room.
Tumblr media
*Hœnir's perspective*
He was handling blow after blow. Hit after hit. Stab after stab. He knelt there and quietly took all of it. Whatever the three people threw at him, they took it without a peep.
Hœnir's head shoots up when the doors slam open. They knew immediately who it was and the tears they were holding back started flowing down their cheeks.
The dead dragged the three kidnappers down to hell where Donn and Arawn would take care of them later.
Arawn rushed over to Nir and immediately untied him and picked him up. Nir was sobbing, weak and covered in blood and bruises. "I-i want to go home." They cry and cling onto Arawn.
Arawn quietly comforts them and holds them as carefully as possible. "We'll get you home."
Tumblr media
AND FINISHED. Welp that was long. Please let me know if I need to add anymore warnings or anything like that. This was way longer than I expected. Hope you enjoyed :D be prepared for more angst in the future

Les Contes du Korrigan (1)
I want to share with you a fairytale-related BD (bande-dessinée, aka a comic book) that was part of my childhood and is, I think, quite a good way of visually exploring Breton fairytales: "Les Contes du Korrigan", "The Korrigan Tales" (or "The Tales of the Korrigan" depending on how you wish to translate it, both versions can be justified)
Tumblr media
Fun fact: the image right above is the cover of the first volume as published in the Breton dialect! Les Contes du Korrigan got a bilingual publication - one in French, and one in the Breton language.
Les Contes du Korrigan is a BD series created by Jean-Luc Istin and the Le Breton duo (Erwan and Ronan - they wrote the scenario, while Istin did a part of the art and oversaw the organization and creation process). Its principle is quite simple: it is an anthology of fairytales and legends from the Bretagne region of France (Britanny as you call it in English, aka the "Little Britain" opposed to the "Great Britain"), reinvented in a comic book format. The title comes from the fact that our narrator, who is the protagonist of every frame story and presents individual tales, is a korrigan.
The korrigans are one of the most famous parts of the Breton folklore. They are basically Bretagne's local variation of the "lutin" (imp/sprite) and of the "nain" (dwarf) - "korr" actually is the Breton word for a dwarf. In folklore, korrigans are known to be ugly, hairy, horned and hooved little men - and they were of course strongly associated with devils and demons when the Breton folklore was christianized. The female korrigans are sometimes described as beautiful fairies or seducing enchantresses, though just as mischievious as their male counterpart. Anyway, I am not here to make a folklore lesson about korrigans (though I could if you are interested), but to share this comic:

What you see above is the opening segment of the first book of the series, "Les Trésors Enfouis" (Buried Treasures). We meet our narrator and story-host, Koc'h the korrigan. A Breton name which is pronounced "korr" like "korrigan" (he insist that it is not pronounced "kosh" or "kok"). He begins by reciting a poetic hymn to the glory of Bretagne in front of a korrigan statue, before a bird comes to poop on said statue. The bird in question isn't actually a bird, but a metamorphosis of Skoul, that Koc'h insults and chases away, promising that once turned to stone he will make a "beautiful gargoyle, when mankind invents cathedrals... in five thousand years." Indeed, this sequence is actually taking place while humanity and korrigans work together to erect menhirs and dolmens for their gods - offerings of stone, baptized in sweat and blood, and which will honor the Celtic deities for centuries to come, and shall be the last home of the korrigans when "the time of oblivion shall come"...
Koc'h offers a helpful little guide of the great "families" of the supernatural folks of Bretagne. You have the korrigans, "the people of the mounds", also called korrig, kornandon, polpigan. You have those "of the moors and the bogs", the "tan-noz", that the French people call "feux follets" (aka will o the wisp). There's the "morganed", "our brothers and sisters of the reefs". They form the "small people" or "little folk" - but they are not the only inhabitants of the Otherworld who also haunt Bretagne.
There are also the "anaon" - the unresting souls and travelling wraiths, who sometimes have to wait for centuries before they can reach purgatory or the "isles of the afterlife". The "shepherd of this sinister flock" is of course the Ankou, the reaper of the dead - renowned for his badly-oiled, creaking chariot, and for his scythe with an upside-down blade. His three "sisters" are the kannerez noz, the night washerwomen, who only attack men and offer them to help wash their own shroud... And finally there are the many "bugul noz" (the screaming spirits), most famous of which being Yannig an aod, "Jeannot de la grève", "Johnny of the beach" - these spirits will beg and implore for your help, but if you lend them a hand at best you'll lose your arm, at worst your life...
Such is Koc'h conclusion: it is no good to do business with the dead in Bretagne, while on the contrary, the Little Folks are all laugh, feasting and merriment! And it is to honor this tradition that Koc'h invites us to listen to the stories that forged the soul of the Bretagne peninsula - told in his own, korrigan-styled way...
And who is Skoul, you ask? Skoul is a bogeyman of Bretagne. His name means "bird of prey", or "kite", and he was a malevolent, lifeforce-stealing entity known to attack as much adults as children.
