Prompt #19: history
Words: 583 | day 19: Radiant
-
[Found in the scrap heap of the girls’ bedroom in the Farouche home.]
An incomplete list of the Loves of one Livorette Farouche, age 14
~Celestine Beaumont. A brief, incomprehensible attraction begun by her accidental bestowment of a kiss on the lips where she ought to have gone for the cheek. Swiftly ended upon our next real visit, in which I was reminded just how annoying she could be.
~Miss Marie. A honey-haired baker’s daughter with a pleasant manner and a perpetual blush on her rounded cheeks. Ended when she wed a rival baker’s son in the next town over, and I never saw her again. The fact that it happened a mere fortnight after I confessed my affection was… discouraging. (And she was kind about it, so gentle and kind that it hurt.)
~Hatheburg the Highlander. Blue-eyed and bold, with two golden stars painted on her left cheek. Of course her true surname could not have been “the Highlander,” but I never did find out what it really was. This despite the fact that her mistress seemed to keep sending her on missions that led right through our back yard. I think she saw something of the longing in my glances, else why would she keep stopping to chat at the end of the garden? In the evening, with the sunset glowing peach and apricot through the trees..? In the end, she granted me exactly one kiss, “just because you look like you’ll die without it. Hang in there, kid.” And then she was gone.
~D’ghodri. A brunette Miqo’te with a carnival troupe who came to the city for All Saints Wake. I learned her name when one of the other members announced to the area at large that “the lovely D’ghodri” was needed elsewhere (and that the other fellow would fill the post til she could return). I played the games every single day for the whole rest of the festival, just to hear her calling out in her melodical voice. “Come one come all to the Carnival!” and things of that nature. I didn’t think she’d have call to notice me, but then—on the last night—she did.
“Why miss, aren’t you tired of us yet?” she asked, and smiled at me, and I almost swallowed my tongue. “At this rate you could almost be one of us!”
And her eyes shone green in the lamplight, and I could feel myself falling as from a great height even while my feet stayed on the ground. “One of you?” I repeated, dumbly.
“You heard me right.” She winked. “Here, give it a try.”
She asked me to shout the line about the Carnival, but my voice gave out, and then Sély came up to us saying we had to go home. I dreamed of her for two weeks afterward.
~Tetenu. Oh, Tetenu. Though you only visited us once or twice, your silvery eyes and your luminous smile shall for ever be engraved upon my poor heart… Would that I were smaller, that you might see me as I saw you…! But alas, I am a full-hearted lover trapped in the form of a broomstick topped with a brilliant pink mop, and I do begin to think no woman will ever glance at me more than twice. Fair, fairest Tetenu…!
[It is at this point that Livy determined to cease writing her list, consign it to the scrap heap, and go to the bathtub forthwith… planning never to emerge.]
#FFxivWrite2019#my writing#Livorette Farouche#oh look more baby gay shenanigans#Sélysette Babiole#note: 'melodical' is not a word#but when Livy was fourteen she thought it should be#she still kinda thinks so tbh

Finally posting here.
My Saint Celestine is finished.
Very proud of getting the eyes right.
Used her as Saint Isolde from D&D ravenloft carnival for a game I'm running. The players immediately gave into to her or ran away when confronted with a Solar.

Runaway pt. 14
Panchito, Jose, and Donald great uncle, nephew and their family and friends followed the other visitors into the main circus tent, and they were almost blinded by the bright and colorful flashing lights circling the entire tent top. They couldn't find Donald outside where the Carnival is and no sight of him anywhere.
Joyful circus music played loudly in the background. Hundreds of other children and adults were already sitting inside, giggling and chatting in anticipation, waiting for the start of the show. They stood in awe, while Dewey smiled seeing their expressions but he sear around the seats to see if Donald was in he in the circus tent. He turned to the center of the ring and was suddenly overcome with emotion. He peered to the top of the tent, where a mini stage stood, rested on the main poles that held up the tent. He shook slightly, then sighed and closed his eyes, trying to break away from the past that before they mee Scrooge McDuck. He uses to being the boys to the circus. And it brings his mind back to the present. Launchpad helped him shake out of it when he nudged his shoulder, saying they'd better hurry up and find some seats.
As they made their way down the stairs past rows and rows of other visitors, a strange small fox girl about a same high as Webby dressed in beautiful outfit approached them.
"Hello there" she smiled at them, ”is this seat taken?”
"Em.. No actually. " replied Jose. A fox girl curtis at them as she thank them as she took a seat next to webby. "Um… We don't see you at the carnival." Questioned Webby.
"Oh, I’m actually live in a circus with my uncle. All of the circus crew are kinda part of our big family. We treat other like family. Ok dear, how rude of me! Where are my manner? I’m Angelica Brown. And you see, my parents live in a circus and do incredible act they do along with mine uncle. I was, unfortunately, so young and I can't perform with them to join their act. So I seat with the crowds and watch them. But that was until something happen. And I didn't want to go on any detail.” She said as she uses her handkerchief to wipe her tears off. ”So my uncle became my Guardian and raise me in a circus with some other circus folks too. I was homeschooled and was taught by Madam Celestine. A Precognition who can predict the future.”
As she goes on and gives out any information about her life in the circus to them. But what she didn't know that the group she is telling to are actually Donald family and friends.
In the backstage. Everyone was getting for the show that they're all going to perform. Everyone is helping each and every crews that needed their help with something. Hamilton was finishing up putting his mask on. Once he was done he turned around to look at the duck in the shadows.
"Okay, Donald, come on out now."
"No, I look weird in this!" The duck said still hiding in the shadows.
"I put a lot of work into the new costumes," Hamilton said trying to get his boyfriend out of the shadows. "Are you going to just stand there or what?"
Donald then walked out of the shadows, just enough to be seen by Hamilton and the circus crew. He tugged on the collar of the costume. It had blue leggings and gold boots. The top was blue with a golden sparkle fabric wrap around it. In his face was his mask. The stunning blue and gold mask which shimmers in the light. Beautifully decorated with lots & lots of sparkle & shimmer & edged in gold braid. His hair was so neat and curly. He’s also wearing a gold stain cape around him. Both him and Hamilton wore the same costume together for their performance.
"Is there a reason this costume has to be so," he paused looking for the right word, "Colorful?”
Hamilton walked up to him and kneeled down to eye level. He let a smile come a crossed her face. "Because when I see you up there, Donald, you shine like a pearl.”
”Alright, everyone! Let get this show started! Good luck everyone! You all will do great out there! You too Donald! We know that you will do fantastic out there with Hamilton!” The ringmaster said as he walk out and Hamilton and Donald share a same smile. ”I know that you will do great out there. We will show them what we got!”
As Angelica continues about her life in the circus with her uncle. The circus music stopped and the lights started to dim until the audience was left enveloped in darkness. The crowd quieted down as they waited to see what would happen. A single spotlight came on and shone onto a figure standing in the center of the ring. It was a yellow dog man, dressed in red and white ringmaster clothes with a red top hat. He began addressing the audience in a loud, cheerful voice.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls! Welcome to GoldenWing Wonderland's circus! Watch in awe as we present you some of the most dangerous, exciting, and hilarious performances in the world! Without further ado, let's get on with the show!"
The night went on, as the ringmaster happily introduced act after act. They look and saw that Angelica was happy to see a familiar face, she began to tell everyone about them like Luke the lion tamer, Susie the elephant, Madame Celestine the psychic and many others. The rest of them were enjoying themselves as well, laughing at the jokes. But Dewey is still trying to see Donald if he's in the crowd seating somewhere.
”And now! Ladies and gentlemen! Face your eyes on amazing aerial people. Donald Duck and Hamilton Brown. Doing their amazing tricks! The amazing trick you have never seen before!”
And that where their eyes went big when he said Donald name. Angelica then looks at them confused. ”Are you all alright? Did you need medical attention?”
Dewey looks at her with shock. ”Donald Duck. He’s our uncle and friends. And he’s also the nephew of the richest duck in the world. Scrooge McDuck!!! That our uncle out there!!!!!” He exclaimed as she put both of her hands to her mouth.
And then, they saw the duck. And they know who that Duck is. It was Donald Duck standing underneath the spotlight.

Mes Films Préférés
(or, Some of My Favourite French Movies)
Following my list of favourites Japanese movies, it’s only fair I do the same for French movies. Seeing as I live in France and love cinema, I’ve seen a LOT of them, so it was hard for me to chose (or even remember some movies). That’s why the list has no rhyme or reason; there are comedies, tragedies, old classics, animated movies, etc. All excellent though!
Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain (Amélie) 2001, Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Y’all probably already know about this one, but I couldn’t not put it on the list. A very quirky romantic comedy and fantasy. If you haven’t seen it, now is the time. Very heart-warming and joyous, without ignoring the sadder parts of life.
Entre les Murs (In Class) 2008, Laurent Cantet
From The Guardian: The idealistic young teacher reaching out to a troubled class of underprivileged kids - it should be the dullest movie cliche imaginable. Yet French director Laurent Cantet does something miraculous with it in this fresh piece of humanist, realist, optimist cinema, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes last year.
One of the most poignant and realistic movies I’ve seen.
(The rest is under a link)
La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast) 1946, Jean Cocteau
One of the greatest movies of all time, still as enchanting as when it was made 70 years ago. Worth seeing in the theatre, if you can find a screening.
From Roger Egert: It is one of the most magical of all films. Before the days of computer effects and modern creature makeup, here is a fantasy alive with trick shots and astonishing effects, giving us a Beast who is lonely like a man and misunderstood like an animal. Cocteau, a poet and surrealist, was not making a "children's film" but was adapting a classic French tale that he felt had a special message after the suffering of World War II: Anyone who has an unhappy childhood may grow up to be a Beast.
Ernest et Célestine (Ernest & Celestine) 2012, Stéphane Aubier, Vincent Patar, Benjamin Rattar
From Roger Egert: The movie begins in a kind of mouse orphanage, whose overseer tries to scare her charges with tales not of big bad wolves but big bad bears. Soon after this, mouse-dentist-in-training Celestine endures a tooth-hunting mishap that puts her out in the street for a night. She's discovered by grumpy, hungry, far-from-home and out of sorts bear Ernest, who thinks the mouse would make a tasty snack. She talks him out of it, shows him how to break in to the storeroom of a nearby candy store, and so the adventure begins, and a friendship, soon to be disapproved by the authorities of both bear and mouse society, is born.
A heart-warming, if sometimes a bit harsh, tale of friendship and adventure, adapted from the series of books by Gabrielle Vincent. Full of warmth and open-mindedness.
Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (The Young Girls of Rochefort) 1967, Jacques Demy
From The Guardian: Jacques Demy painted a whole seaside town in pastels for the 1967 shoot of this tribute to Hollywood musicals, starring real-life sisters Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac as twins whose provincial boredom evaporates when the carnival (including Gene Kelly) shows up. Such a full-blooded approach extends to the rest of the film - from Michel Legrand's jazzy score, to the swoony plot, to the no-blush kitsch of Norman Maen's choreography.
Les Chansons d’Amour (Love Songs) 2007, Christophe Honoré
Another, very different musical comedy (though influenced by the former), this one is both heart-breaking and breezy.
Julie and Ismaël begin a three-way relationship with Alice, but soon Julie dies from a heart attack. Ismaël tries to go on without her, and to grieve on his own, but Julie’s family keeps trying to involve him in their lives and their mourning. Then Ismaël meets a young man named Erwan…
Very moving and very gay (it ends unexpectedly happily–a thousands bonus points)!
From Christophe Honoré, I also really love Dans Paris (In Paris), 2006.
La Graine et le Mulet (The Secret of the Grain–U.S./Couscous–U.K.) 2007, Abdellatif Kechiche
From the Criterion Collection: This bursting drama is something else entirely, a gripping, multigenerational saga that brings you as close as you could hope to get to an aching, dreaming extended family. It begins like Ken Loach and ends like Tolstoy.
Complex and beautiful and real, you should definitely see this one.
Also by Abdellatif Kechiche, I love L’Esquive (Games of Love and Chance), 2004, and La Vie d’Adèle (Blue is the Warmest Color), 2013.
Les Tontons Flingueurs (Crooks in Clover/Monsieur Gangster) 1963, Georges Lautner
Cited as an influence for Pulp Fiction by Tarantino, this movie is a cult comedy and an enduring classic. It’s one of the most quoted through generations, because of its brilliant dialogues. (If you’re watching it to improve your listening comprehension, I would wait to be an advanced learner. They use a lot of slang, most of it a little dated, and everyone talks really fast. Also, humour never translates really well, especially when based on language, so you need to understand French to really enjoy it, I believe.)
Synopsis from Wikipedia: Fernand is an ex-gangster with a plant hire business in Montauban. His modest, quiet life is disrupted when his childhood friend, Louis "the Mexican", who has become the boss of a gangster organisation in Paris, summons him to his deathbed. Louis appoints Fernand head of his business and guardian of his teenage daughter, Patricia, who only thinks about having fun and has never lasted in any school more than six months.
P.S.: Some movies deal with violent/dark/tragic subjects, don’t hesitate to ask me for more details.
P.P.S.: I feel about a 1000 times more French just for having written this list…

The vibe you give off : The flutter of birds taking flight in a burst of feathers into the sky, gooseberries gleaming transclucent under summer sunshine, giggling with your friends while walking through a carnival, cotton candies in your hands, the mischievous smile under a silken black hood of a cloaked figure looming above a tower, the celestine sea sparkle twinkling on the shore after nightfall, lantana flowers laughing in a stormy mistral.

HELLO EVERYONE!
I want to make an announcement!
Sadly, I'm gonna stop working on two AU'S, i lost motivation and my ideas with them, hope you understand it!
The AU'S are Celestine Carnival and Cartoon of the Sun and Moon
This are it!
Cartoon of the Sun and Moon will be stopped and discontinued COMPLETELY.
Celestine Carnival will be stopped, but it has connections to another AU, so the lore will not be discontinued, I will not reveal it for now though.
Hope you all understand my choice, i'm sorry for this.
I will remove from the master post the AU'S, so they will be posted but with a disclaimer that it was discontinued!
