if you like genshin lore what are your thoughts on celestial nails?

ooooooo YES I DO like lore!

as far as we know right now, there's only 2. and both of the ones we DO know about are in pretty significant locations. The first on Dragonspine, and the second being in the Chasm. When we're looking at where each nail is, we also need to take into account how the land looks. We know that the first Celestial Nail was dropped onto Dragonspine, and the other ended up in the Chasm, but it was underground unlike the first nail. Using our evidence, we can possibly tell which nail was dropped first, and even tell how each nail was used individually. So let's take a look at Dragonspine first.

Dragonspine: The nail is broken into multiple pieces, and the land around is like a pit. This would make sense for the surrounding area to look like this. I like to think of the nail here as like a meteorite. When a meteorite hits the ground, it would make a dent on the ground it lands on IF it was large enough. Meteorites also never land on the Earth while being very large. Most meteorites that land only have 5% of the original remaining, so it would be rare to document something large. This fits regarding the state of the Dragonspine nail. The nail landed onto Dragonspine, but ended up breaking into smaller pieces on impact.

The Chasm: The nail in The Chasm is a bit different. This nail is completely intact and underground, but we don't know why this is. We're told that on the surface of the Chasm, Morax fought a battle where he used the stone pillars that are there to this day, so one would assume that the surface of the Chasm looks the way it does because of that. However, the pillars seem to be sticking in a general diagonal direction, and they don't really face a certain way. Meaning that these pillars are the result of the battle Morax fought, but not how the Chasm looks. Compared to the pillars, there are a multitude of cliffs that all face the same way, almost like they're rotating as well. Not to mention the entrance to the Underground Mines of The Chasm are in the very center of this rotation. The best way I can put this is that the surface if The Chasm looks like a hurricane. A hurricane's spin and direction are caused by the Coriolis Effect, which causes the path of fluids — everything from particles in the air to currents in the ocean — to curve as they travel across and over Earth's surfaces. But what would cause land to look the way it does. The nail in The Chasm was likely used like a drill compared to the nail on Dragonspine. This would perfectly explain why the Chasm looks this way as well as the nail being underground. The surface of The Chasm is the hurricane, and the entryway to the Underground mines is the eye of the hurricane. The eye being where the nail was placed, and when the nail was used as a drill, causing the surface to look like a hurricane. This would also explain why the Ancient City in the Chasm is upside down, since it would only be upside down if it WAS on the surface and drilled underground. However, that's a different subject.

What's also important is that both of these nails are located where ancient and forgotten cities are.

So now we can tell how each nail was used, but how do we tell which nail was used when? Well, we can't tell EXACTLY when each nail was used, but we might be able to know which nail was used before the other. Given how the first nail was dropped onto Dragonspine and broke on impact, I doubt Celestia would want to make the mistake of one of their pillars breaking again. So, they used the nail in The Chasm as a drill instead. This is only just a theory though, and there's really no evidence to back it up.

We also want to know WHY the nails were dropped where they were. For this, we want to take a look at the books left in the ruins of Enkanomiya, the ruins on Dragonspine, and the architecture of both Enkanomiya and the city in The Chasm, The books in Enkanomiya, made by the scribe of Istaroth, talking about the Primordial one and The Second Who Came, and when the Traveller and their Twin arrived to Teyvat.

The Primordial One and The Scribe of Istaroth: The Scribe wrote about the Primordial one, a god from another world theorized to be Teyvat's creator and fought a 40-year war against the Seven Sovereigns. The Primordial One also seemed to be pretty benevolent towards humans. Then the Second Who Came appeared and restarted the long-ended war. After the war, The Enkanomiyans tried to get back onto the surface. Unfortunately, their way was blocked, and The Scribe believed that the Primordial One sealed them in the underground, with only Istaroth responding to their cries. This seems like pretty unusual behavior for a god such as the Primordial one who views humanity so highly.

The Ruins in Dragonspine: I forget the name of it, but there is a specific claymore you can obtain by doing a quest in Dragonspine. In the room where you obtain the claymore, there 2 different paintings, 2 painings of each being on 2 of the walls. The first painting most likely depicts the Primordial One and Humanity, and the other seems to depict Celestia. In the painting, Celestia is depicted as a floating island in the sky. But we don't know if this is Celestia for sure, because what could be depicted is JUST the island or Celestia in it's entirety.

The Architecture of Enkanomiya and the city in The Chasm: I the second Traveller Archon Quest, Dainsleif points out that the Architecture of Enkanomiya is pretty much the same as the Architecture of Khaenri'ah, except the city in The Chasm is upside down. We also know from Ancient books in Enkanomiya that Teyvat was just one big civiliation with one culture, which ended uo changing after the war between The Primordial One and The Second Who Came. During this war, Enkanomiya fell into where it is today.

We also need to take into account the first cutscene of the game. This cutscene takes place during the destruction of Khaenri'ah, and the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles states; "The arrogation of mankind ends now." This could hint as to why Celestia dropped the nails.

Conclusion/Theory: gathering the evidence we have; we can finally come to a hopeful conclusion as to why the nails were dropped where they were. The conclusion I came to was that the nails were dropped on these ancient cities, as well as Enkanomiya being left underground, is for the same reason that Khaenri'ah was destroyed. We can start by going with what the Sustainer said about the arrogation of humanity. Celestia wanted the arrogation of mankind to end, so it would make sense that they would destroy any country that became too advanced. Hence, nails being dropped onto The Chasm and Dragonspine. But what about Enkanomiya? When we look at what The Scribe of Istaroth wrote, the entrance to the outside world was sealed off by the Primordial one. Think of it like putting away dishes in a cabinet. When you put the dishes away, this particular time they were put away in such a manner that they would probably fall. But to prevent that, you shut the doors to the cabinet and left the dishes be, thinking that it would be fine. But when you later go to open the cabinet, the dishes end up falling out. This is what Celestia did to Enkanomiya. They sealed Enkanomiya underground after they fell, thinking they would not make it back to the surface. But thanks to Orobashi thousands of years later, they did. There's also a second reason they could have done this, to get rid of evidence. When a murderer kills somebody, they want to hide the evidence that they did the murder as much as possible. In this case, the murderer is Celestia, and the victim is The Primordial One. Since these cities knew about the Primordial One and the war against The Second Who Came, Celestia likely killed the Primordial One and then got rid of the citieas that were too advanced or had a connection to the Primordial one, hoping to get rid of all evidence that there were gods before Celestia.

Me in the midst of writing a 'tiny' post (you've guessed it already, it's not so tiny) as to showcase my headspace in my approach and direction for little miss gremlin as per deep dives into Liyue's lore (hello Chasm, my beloved), and I mention Noctilucous Jade and only do I realize that it has 'jade' in the name, which is unique because the only other 'jade' that we know of is Clearwater Jade which is native to Chenyu; how is it elsewhere, but its locations are also so interesting. I'm here like— hello Chenyu Vale, my very likely and possible other beloved, kill me now, it'll be merciful.

If a Celestial Nail fell onto Tsurumi Island, then it must be hidden beneath Mt. Kanna, no? It has a similar shape to The Chasm as well as Mt. Damavand, which people have theorized might have a Celestial Nail somewhere in it too. Dragonspine doesn't have a similar look on the map and the cold prevents me from exploring that area a bunch so I'm not sure if there are similar shaped rocks 🤷🏻‍♀️ buuuut we haven't gotten an Inazuman Celestial Nail yet so methinks it's there

Anyway, this has the same vibe as those japanese festival scenes in anime with the fireworks at night. The purple and blue contrasting with the warm cozy colours is always to die for.

I wanna say this piece tastes delicious but I dont actually know what this piece tastes like. It's still good. Im just realising I haven't tasted enough night vibe foods yet. I must fix this. Weird math metaphors aside, we seem to have a rock-paper-scissors situation with Abyss, Celestia and forbidden knowledge.

Forbidden knowledge tramples celestial order, Celestia consistently defeats the Abyss (when it bothers to), the Abyss consumes forbidden knowledge with no ill aftereffects for itself.

As in, Visions are known to help people resist Tatarigami influence and Celestial Nails are good at containing Abyss.

According to Dottore's notes, dead gods' remains provide symptomatic treatment of Eleazar (which is forbidden knowledge corruption).

I don't know about you but I'm starting to have mad respect for Dottore. His notes have been incredibly useful in my lore research.

One of my biggest hyperfixations nowadays is the lore of ancient kingdoms in Genshin Impact. I wanna know what they were all about, how life was like for them, what led to their downfalls, and how or if they interacted with one another. It’s said that there used to be a unified civilization of humans in Teyvat, and that’s why so many ruins have similar architectural details despite being spread across all the nations of modern Teyvat. We still have very little lore about the Nameless Ruins in the Chasm, we still don’t even have a name for them despite Dainsleif’s quest taking place there. But there’s also strange similarities between the stories of the ancient kings and how the kingdoms fell. I already buy into the theory that King Deshret of Sumeru/Gurabad may be related to or the same as King Irmin of Khaenri’ah, since the Traveler’s twin is the Abyss Prince/Princess, and the Traveler seems to remind Liloupar of Deshret in terms of looks and powers. And wouldn’t it be fitting for Deshret, who turned down the Gnosis and challenged the heavens by obtaining Forbidden Knowledge (abyssal power) to be in some way related to the king of Khaenri’ah, a nation without a god that hid from Celestia and was later punished for it? And there’s sources about Remus, the king of Remuria, citing Remus as a god king just like Deshret. And Remuria as well as Remus were swallowed by the Abyss, reminding me of the sinking of Enkanomiya, where the names of the people are lifted directly from Greek/Roman mythology. And Remus is directly inspired by the Rome founding myth, while Remuria as a whole is inspired by ancient Rome. And the most tantalizing thing for me has to be the lost kingdom of Sal Vindagnyr, where it seems so cut off from these other lost kingdoms but their princess dreamt of events that wouldn’t come to pass for thousands of years, long after her civilization was destroyed. She was born under an offshoot of Irminsul, and had the power of prophecy through her connection to the tree. She foresaw the Cataclysm in Khaenri’ah, the coming of the abyssal dragon Durin, but she had no frame of reference for when these visions would come to pass. Think about what that would do to you as your kingdom was being swallowed in ice and snow, the gods having forsaken you, and your father asks to see a vision of the snow cleared and blue skies, but you’ve already forgotten what that looks like since it’s been so long in the blizzard. Dragonspine and the ruins of Sal Vindagnyr haunt me.

EDIT: I think I figured something out about Dragonspine. In every source I could find on the topic, people usually sort the Princess’s vision of Durin before the Celestial Nail that destroyed their Irminsul tree. I think, since the people of Sal Vindagnyr proclaimed to be in such close contact with Celestia, that Celestia dropped the nail on Dragonspine as a response to the princess’s vision. They laid down a preemptive strike against the abyss and then realized, “oh shoot, we messed up,” because Durin wouldn’t appear in Mondstadt until thousands of years later! So Celestia gets the heck out of dodge before the humans can seek retribution for the destruction of their home, that’s why they abandoned the people of Sal Vindagnyr. The humans were left wondering what they did wrong, but Celestia is the one at fault! Celestia panicked and messed up!

2. His favorite animal is a resplendent quetzal. (A bird)

3. Asmo unintentionally was a huge factor in the Trojan War starting.

4. Raphael used to scold Asmo a lot, causing him to dislike Raphael. He doesn't feel this way anymore.

5. He sleeps naked.

6. Asmo's biggest fear is turning ugly and essentially loosing all of his worth.

7. He can smell if people are romantically interested in each other.

8. He has had a face lift before.

9. A lot of fan mail is sent to the RAD suggestion box for him.

10. He is *surprisingly* not very flexible.

11. Has referred to Mc as his 'Bestie'. He and Lucifer have also said that he was madly in love with them. So... why not both?

Satan has also stated that he's seen Asmo sneak snacks in the middle of the night. All of this implies that he struggles with an eating disorder.

He usually doesn't get paid in grimm for designing, receiving products, and samples instead. He says he prefers that in all honesty (He'd just buy the stuff with grimm anyway).

59. He used to be close to Belphie back in the Celestial Realm. Beel even said that Belphie was practically glued to Asmo's hip.

60. Asmo is the one who came up with the name 'Team Solomon'. Barbatos wasn't a big fan of the name.

62. Even though he is the shortest brother, he often looks taller because he wears heels.

63. Asmodeus knew of Solomon's horrible cooking skills before any of the others. When Solomon tried to serve everybody at the Demon Lord's castle, he purposefully didn't eat any of Solomon's cooking.

65. During the retreat to the Demon Lord's castle, Asmo becomes heavily affectionate for MC. One of the things he first does is inspect them head to toe, checking their ears, teeth, fingers, etc. This supports him saying that he wishes to know EVERYTHING about MC and potentially any other lover.

66. He doesn't like washing the dishes because it makes his skin rough.

67. To some peoples surprise, he is really good with kids. He even worked with them in the human world. Though, Satan commented that he wouldn't trust his kid with Asmo. He also often makes inappropriate jokes in front of Luke. But, he just shrugs them off and tells Luke that he'll understand when he's older.

69. (😏) He's a switch. He's quoted to have said, "I'll make you squeal for me!" As well as, "You wanna try some other spots too? Go ahead, I'm all yours." These are two of many lines that help imply this.

70. Despite what many think, he does have standards. He also is not appreciative of randomly being used as an object of beauty or sex. Though he's admitted that he can easily see the good in everyone and finds everyone a little bit attractive in their own way. He also says that he flirts with people so often because his happiness spreads to others and ends up making more people happy. So many people like him, because he likes so many people. Simple as that. But, this doesn't mean he will appreciate just anybody.

71. He didn't have an Asmo gathering for an entire year after the fall. His first one was held with MC as an honorary guest. Solomon couldn't make it.

72. He's implied to like fortune and horoscopes.

73. He doesn't like shopping with 'drab' shopping bags.

74. Asmo tends to photobomb and photo taken around him because he believes he is the most photo-worthy person/thing in the area.

85. While his brothers fight over bathing order, Asmo likes to go have a nice long bath in his own bathroom just to taunt them.

87. He gets insecure if he doesn't get reassured of MC's love constantly. He texts demanding 'I love yous' and demands compliments.

88. Asmo likes to wear what Mammon calls 'skimpy underwear'.. (And more lingerie!)

89. He very rarely gets more than annoyed. Very rarely even gets annoyed. He isn't seen transforming into his demon form at all during the main story out of anger (And so far from what I've played in Nightbringer). Though, I have seen him transform once in a Devilgram, but he quickly calmed down in seconds.

90. Asmo thinks that drool is unattractive on a man (probably any other gender too, he didn't clarify). He often tells Beel this as a life lesson. (This also presumably does not apply to sex.)

91. Solomon has a very hard time saying no to Asmo

92. When giving out gifts, they frequently feature his face. If you're lucky, you may even find yourself with a nice new set of lingerie.

93. Asmo is good at singing, writing, and composing songs. Anywhere from a ballad to hard metal. He even sings live!

94. Solomon once gifted him bath salts made by an incubus. The affect of the charm was SO STRONG that Asmo had to drink an antidote made by Solomon. (It tasted surprisingly good)

95. Asmo is insecure about the fact that he is unable to use his charm ability on MC.

96. In Nightbringer, Satan says that Asmo is the brother he hates the least.

97. Asmo's favorite way to spend his birthday is with people close to him, not with big parties.

trying my best at a photo id so bear/bare(?) with me here: hoshiko sora is a dark skinned woman with short, dark brown hair with reddish undertones in the style of a mullet, her longer hairs are colored purple with blue tips, her eyes are a deep bluish purple with a normal purple gradient, her characteristic is her dark under eyes, besides the standard demon slayer uniform, her haori is a dark purple with a vivid purple gradient consisting of white stars, her kyahan is a darker shade of blue with sparkles and stars.

- some lore on the oc in question, i decided to name her hoshiko sora, it's not her birth name but it's a name. - oldest of 2 other siblings, and is the second ever foreigner to become a hashira, after the death of her mentor, yukiko, ice breather, -- hoshiko was very close with her younger sister, yumeko, who turned out to be a "fallen angel," later having to kill her, her younger brother is in the care of the other ladies that live with her. - she lives with 15 women, all of them non-japanese, and 14 foster children named after colors. - her birthday is october 25th and she is 19 years old. - she's the star hashira and uses celestial breathing and to be real i don't give a rats ass if it's mary sue (she's already self insert so come at me bro) - her eyebags are genetic, not because of a lack of sleep, her mother and sister had the same eyebags. - she rides a giant sentient star she names sirius, and has even smaller stars she keeps as pets, their names and stuff are linked here. - her hair is based off a hairstyle i did back in 2022 minus the mullet. - she can sing, really good. -- when she was younger, she would sing yumeko and her brother lullabies she made up, and her voice is described as "otherworldly." - she's like 5'9 or 176 cm, the exact height of giyu, she weighs about 185 pounds - while her main love interest is kyojuro and is the one she chooses in the end, she can be shipped with all of the hashira (minus the 14 year old kid, he was with yumeko until you know what happened.), since they all find her to be beautiful. (ok fine i own up to it, she's mary sue, but hey, at least im free from cringe culture.) -- when she first joined, she had a crush on obanai, but after she found out that he was not only afraid of women, but he was... simultaneously in love with one, she was so heartbroken she contemplated on retiring as a demon slayer, and was also deeply resentful and jealous of mitsuri, but, her sister talked her out of it, and once yumeko had joined the hashira, she helped hoshiko get along with mitsuri better. - her personality consists of her being laidback, down to earth and composed, very go with the flow and tends to stay out of unnecessary conflict, she can be pretty comedic too. -- i guess when it comes to her personality, think a little of sans from undertale? - in the kimetsu academy au, she studies at a university overseas as an astronomer, while her descendant is an astronaut.

- she shares a rank with tengen when it comes to physical strength, why? as a child she had a weird fixation for lifting heavy things, no one not even she knows why, weird childhood things i guess. - she's not the fastest, but isn't slow, either, ranks between giyu and obanai. - on the openness scale, she's around 75%. - on the kindness scale, she ranks between gyomei and obanai.

So I have been writing my own lore for our table's Secret World DnD 5e campaign. Our story takes place 10 years in the future from the events of the game and things are starting to get... weird. The lore from the buzzing is getting more glitched and incongruous. So here is the almost "complete" lore entries on something... odd theyve discovered in their journey.

Entry One TRANSMIT initiate the Sidereal signal - RECEIVE - initiate celestial cadence -- Once there was a wise king who broke his mirror and dropped the pieces to the ground-- Initiate the Obsidian sutra -- He thought to repair it, but was arrested by the sight of the scattered shards which showed so many visions of his face. He put the pieces back together -- - but at all the wrong angles. WITNESS - The Gold Faction.

Entry Two

There were many beginnings before the beginning you know. You’ve seen the ripples from pasts long gone, the scraps left buried under eons of silt. The mantras and stories told from ages ago have degraded just the same. Hear the story of the old man and the Watcher, the parable told to pupal students to snip their wings.  

Once there was a … that old thing

In the time of cascading years lived a scholarly man. In silent contemplation, he spent his days wandering the ruins of rebuilt First cities, trying to find what was once lost. The day he understood that something was watching him, he merely watched it back. He chose to walk through bright places to clearly mark its boundaries. He lit torches to observe its flickers in the changing light. 

…that wasn't like a shadow, because you could see it too well.

…and that wasn't like a light, because it didn't make flowers grow.

During those long days, he saw it everywhere. Darkness did not banish it- brilliance only strengthened it. He hated it- how it echoed his every gesture. He hated that it knew the answers to his thousand questions. He loathed that he could not stop asking. 

… it waited and answered…

… it listened and nodded…

…it encouraged his curiosity…

At last, when those years had fallen through and Time came to its end, the man ran out of questions. He could no longer remember what he sought. His reflection leered at him in infuriating triumph. He no longer asked, it no longer answered. It taunted him with silence. The old man struck its sneering mouth. 

…and he never realized what he had shattered. 

The shattered mirror shards remain. Each time a descended disciple is granted their mantle and clutches one of the shards, can you hear their prayers?

Entry Three

SCANNING 

We hear the sobs of a girl, she is dressed in silks woven by webs, seated at her loom. The image depicts the King and his seal. Her hands tremble as she pushes the next line, knowing what hungrily watches for any mistake. She can never stop, even as the wheel is knocked over and reset, or it will unravel her threads and climb through the opening in the tapestry. She won’t let it out, she can’t let it end. 

SCANNING

We see a man pray for salvation in an empty sanctuary. Angels mock his cries. He clutches the shards bored in his hands, bearing the same marks of the bloodied body nailed to decaying wood. Beneath the altar, something bubbles and stirs, waiting to devour him. Salty tears stream down his face. He won’t let it out, he can’t let it end.

SCANNING

We see sweetlings run along the babbling river, following eggshells out of a fairytale. They reach its mouth and find it’s encased in bedrock. The sensation of life pulsates from deep within the stone, as if the river still flows. She retracts her hands, reminded of the same pulse from the walls of her schooldays. The pulse that leaked anima and lured wayward familiars to gnaw on its brick walls. She won’t let it out -- she can’t be where it ends.

SCANNING

We see the gaping maws salivating upwards through their prisons, frothing and screeching for vitae. Their multi-mouths tear gashes in reality. They leave holes in their wake. We see the one sweetling who fell through. She cries out for freedom with them, her mind bleeding into their consciousness. All that will remain is the fragments of herself in dreams- this can’t be where it ends.

Entry Four

SCANNING

There is a pool of water that babbles. It babbles and babbles, yet the surface lies still. How does still water talk? Invisible goosebumps float in the air, soaking into the skin of any who visit. The still waters darken with the contaminant they imprisoned.

They evolved, adapted, thrived in oblivion. They ate and spread. What will they evolve into? Will they be all that is left? BEWARE. Inside them boils the pandemonium of thoughts that swirled--

“DON’T LET IT OUT!” “Nie oddychaj!” 

Entry Five

i finished fontaine's archon quest. finally. it took me 2 days but i've done it. i have way too many thoughts about it right now. i am also far behind on my knowledge of the lore, i kinda stopped paying attention midway through the inazuma archon quest (even if i finished it the moment it dropped because raiden shogun my beloved), so i will have to do a bit of research before saying anything.

that said, i decided to take furina out to do some basic sightseeing. i decided to bring her to the celestial nail hanging above dragonspine, not only because it's the highest peak in the game (right?? i think it's still the highest peak), but because considering the events of the quest... i thought it would be fitting :)

i love how you can see the grand narukami tree from here.

and her beloved fontaine, too.

the jade chamber and stormterror's lair/mondstadt are very visible from here.

i think furina/focalors may be my favorite character in the whole game right now.

(Aka- I became so Incredibly Normal ™ about decarabian that I ended up learning how to draw and actually putting effort into a piece of artwork for once, just so I could finally draw my design of him)

Along with some bonuses:

1- The symbol on his neck and polearm are supposed to be the “old mondstadt symbol” (its clearer in some of the bonus pictures, but it’s difficult to draw without it being pixelated in procreate), shown here, and the symbol on the crown is the cercelée, a symbol commonly seen across old mondstadt/stormterror’s lair, shown here

2- The design of his polearm is heavily based off of the royal spear, while the lore behind it talks about aristocracy-era mond, I like to consider that many people copied a lot of the ideas and symbols that decarabian used

3- The cape is designed to look and act like the storm wall itself (albeit a much smaller scale)- extremely lightweight, helps to prevent from external attacks and the weather, and swooshes a lot whenever he moves around

4- His outfit in general is heavily based on the one in the decarabian design shown here

5- The things at the bottom of the polearm are meant to represent the skyfrost nail/celestial nails and wind wisp wings respectively (the large gem has no inherent symbolism, it is just there for vibes)

6- His eye color is directly colorpicked from the asexual flag (the darker blue version isn’t colorpicked from anything, it just looks cool), do with that information what you will

Everything else appearance wise is mostly done purely for the vibes, however if you notice any accidental symbolism PLEASE point it out, I might incorporate it into any potential future iterations of his design
