madeline celeste hcs bc i am so so so insane about her

french canadian on her mom's side, creole on her dads. pretty estranged from her dad's side of the family but she keeps in contact, her mom's side is garbage so she's cut them off.

speaks french and english, english is her second language. will very dramatically shout "ALLONS Y" before dashing away.

her favorite taste is sweet, but she also specifically likes savory-sweet. will destroy a honey ham. drove 3 hours to get arbys brown sugar bacon

after the mountain she's still able to dash even when off it, and if she doesn't for a while she gets a really bad build up of excess energy. also, if she was afraid of heights before, she isn't now

she stunned the pants off of everyone in the climbing gym when she showed up and bounded up every single wall with ease, unharnessed, no hand chalk, nothing.

somehow hates the way she looks yet simps for badeline hard. will refuse to ever think about how that doesn't make any goddamn sense

do you have any favorite tropes or things you like seeing in stories and stuff?

Obviously I like me some found family. I mean who doesn’t? I like when characters are besties and DONT get together in the end. I like stuff like elemental magic or witchcraft or magic powers (again, who doesn’t). I really like when characters are a lot more reserved or stoic, because I’m kind of like that and don’t relate to the very exaggerated emotional expressions most cartoon characters have. Honestly just themes of identity I love, cuz…..I mean have you SEEN my username. I LOVE themes of friendship and like when friendship and found family gets all mixed together into this kind of platonic family where it’s like you can’t even imagine them living thier own separate lives because they’re all so entwined with each other. It would simply feel wrong and bad (looking at you atla comics). This doesn’t really apply to books so much as it does tv/video games but musical motifs are my jam. Like YES GIVE ME THAT MELODY I WILL COME TO ASSOCIATE WITH A CERTAIN CHARACTER/EVENT/SETTING/ETC. Favorite examples of this are just, [UNDERTALE], any Splatoon leitmotif, that one Fire Nation leitmotif (you know the one). I for some reason have such a soft spot for silent characters. Like in the games I play that have silent protagonists, that character will just become my favorite character. Like yeah Agent 8 barely says anything or has anything revealed about their personality (and they probably have the most lore compared to 3, 4, and Neo) BUT I LOVE EIGHT SO MUCH. Same for Frisk, Kris, etc.

I also really like the redemption arc trope but again, that’s pretty universal. Like some of my favorite characters are characters like Hunter from ToH, Zuko, Catra, Badeline. It’s like half their redemption and half their personality after their redemption. Like I just enjoy that type of personality in a character ig? Idk. This entire answer is kind of rambly and not thought out well so if I add to it later don’t be surprised lmao

Also for a trope I don’t like (you didn’t ask but I’m gonna rant anyways)- I’m sorry but I HATE unnecessary dog characters. I’m not a huge fan in general of the “useless but cute animal sidekicks” but I feel like dog characters are inserted in so many stories that they really don’t need to be in. (Why is Asmondius a dog aren’t dragons sentient? It made more sense when he was newly hatched but now that he’s slightly older shouldn’t he be developing more into what his parents are? With more “baby roaring” and trying to develop speech and such? I mean maybe dragons just don’t work like that, and the writers probably guessed a dog would be more pleasant to watch than a toddler, but it really does both me that they made him literally just A Dog).

keeping  her  eyes  on  celeste,  emma  finds  it  hard  to  hold  back  her  laughter;  it's  only  when  some  tall  and  handsome  man  mentioned  did  she  finally  figure  out  what  this  is  all  about.  well,  of  course,  emma  should've  seen  that  coming.  “  okay,  i'm  not  even  back  for  long,  letty.  it's  been  like,  what,  two  months  ?  ”  she  says,  letting  out  another  laugh.  “  also,  what  do  you  expect  me  to  do  ?  set  you  up  with  him  ?  i'm  not  a  fuckin'  matchmaker.  that's  noa,  ”  the  name  slips  out  of  her  mouth  easily,  causing  her  to  freeze  up  for  a  second;  she  could  only  hope  celeste  doesn't  catch  the  slight  change  in  her  demeanor,  head  shaking  softly  as  she  forces  out  a  smile. “  how  do  i  know  parker  ?  well,  he  comes  to  the  bar  often.  usually  just  by  himself,  so  i  thought  why  not  go  talk  to  him  ?  and  that's  it.  ”  she  gives  celeste  a  shrug.  “  he's  a  pretty  nice  guy.  sometimes  he  hangs  until  my  shift  ends  and  we  leave  together...  mostly  we  just  talk  about  anything,  which  kinda  proves  your  point  i  guess.  ”  still,  it  would  have  been  weird  for  her  to  mention  celeste  out  of  nowhere.  “  maybe  if  he  told  me  he  was  looking  for  somebody  to  love  i  would've  brought  you  up,  ”  she  teases,  shoulder  nudging  celeste's  playfully.  “  i'm  glad  you  two  finally  met  on  your  own  though.  doesn't  it  make  you  feel  like  fate  brought  you  together  or  some  shit  ?  ”

"i met a little birdy a few nights ago," she explains, brows furrowing at emma's laughter. "this is no laughing matter em, seriously. i'm extremely offended..." she gives a long pause, adding to the suspense. her own laughter manages to slip out, pointing a finger at the other. "to know that you've been keeping a tall and handsome man hidden from me for god knows how long," it wasn't exactly her business who emma knew, but that didn't mean celeste wouldn't have wanted to know ( or want to be set up ). "the real question here is, how do you know him ? parker, i mean. i need all of the details and don't leave anything out !"
