My private voice teacher associated my voice with Flor recently and when we talk about Jazz he always refrences Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald bc we share similar vocal color. Sometimes I will stop and ask about a direction I've gone or a choice I've made and he always recognizes or accepts when I've made a choice and we'll discuss why if it doesn't work.

I struggled so much at the end of the semester, feeling like i moved backwards, and wondering if I was being stubborn when i got the urge to dig in my heels about choices I was making vocally. Comparisons were always made that made me feel not great. To celebraties, to other students. If I made a choice that was not suggested to me and it didn't work it was always treated like an accident.

I like detuned sounds, Locrian mode, major/minor chords. Sometimes I will make a conscious choice to do a minor scale slide in a major key bc I want to see if it works, sometimes I'm doing it to quote an adlib from the original. It labled me with my school teacher as a metal head? Which like I am not (i do listen to some but none of the kinds that use the scales i favor ironically).

It's just wild the difference. like i say my personal coach associates me with certain musicians bc its not a comparison when he does it. He'll say 'have you heard of X? A would say 'you can do this as well as X' and it feels like an expectation and i lost a lot of myself in trying to get there because I felt like I was overthinking or being stubborn about technical things bc I didn't have the formal training to know if he was pushing a prefrence or necessity (and no I did not need to open my mouth more).

I just saw an Instagram post in which Patti Murin talked about having COVID in April while she was pregnant and how worried they were that it could have repercussions on the baby. Now I felt sorry for them, I empathized with their worry and I was ( I am ) happy and relieved that she’s okay and the baby is okay. And you know what I found? Tons of comments saying that no one cares for hearing sob stories from celebraties, that she should have kept her mouth shut with her pathetic story ( I swear it’s a direct quote from a comment I read ) and that we ( we who? I so hate when people comment with “we” or “the people” cause guess what? You’re not the people. Not everyone wants what you want. Speak for yourself. ) want to hear the stories of common people that died of COVID. We don’t care about celebrities.

Now. Patti ( like Alyssa Milano a few weeks back, or Daniel Dea Kim at the beginning of this emergency ) was sharing her experience to try and make people see why it’s necessary to wear a mask. With her profile she can reach way more people than any one of us. They celebrities and guess what celebrities are people. And they’re sharing their experience with COVID to reach more people and make them see why it’s necessary to wear a mask. I don’t understand why people are reacting this way. Celebrities are a reality of this world and they have a voice that can reach more people. So why are people being so mean?

5 IP’s That Could Potentially Benefit From A LEGO Set

LEGOs have become popular across the mainstream as well as amongst hardcore builders looking to extend their collections and even casual builders who have sets of their favorite movie, TV series or any IP of his or her interest. 

As far as I go, I have The Big Bang Theory set along with 4 architecture sets (Chicago, Vegas, Paris and San Francisco) with a sixth set on the way in the mail (Stranger Things). I obviously would like to get more into LEGO building but it is an expensive hobby obviously. 

As I see LEGO sets either being released or retired, there’s a few IPs I had in mind that could make good LEGO sets but don’t have one or already have one but could benefit from another. 

Starcourt Mall (Stranger Things) 

Season 3 of Stranger Things saw most of the season take place at the newly built Starcourt Mall which was the main hangout for the main characters and the occupation for Steve as he worked at the ice cream shop called Ahoy. 

With The Upside Down soon retiring and season 4 on its way, Starcourt Mall could be a good potential money maker not only for LEGO but Netflix as well and also a creative build for LEGO enthusiasts as it would obviously surpass the piece amount of The Upside Down as Starcourt Mall could act like how the McAllister house does from Home Alone where it’s able to be opened and you’re able to not only build the outside of the mall but the inside too. As far as minifigures go, LEGO could take the same models from The Upside Down set and create them in their season 3 attires and also include new character Robin too. 

1428 Elm Street (A Nightmare On Elm Street) 

While LEGO is more of a family friendly company, the Stranger Things set has proven they’ll take a step into the depths and cross that family friendly line. 

Seeing as how the Elm Street films popularized horror and put many famous actors on the map like Robert Englund and Johnny Depp, having a set of the dilapidated “House that Freddy built” as a set would be an ambitious step away from the family friendly reputation LEGO is known for. The house would be known for its’ Nightmare 3 or 4 look as it would be dilapidated and run down with a Springwood Realty sign that looks faded in the front yard. The mini figures that could go with the set could be as follows: Freddy, Nancy, Glen, Tina, Rod and even Lt. Thompson. 

Nakatomi Plaza (Die Hard) 

While Christmas is still a month away, the debate to whether or not Die Hard is a quote “Christmas movie” goes on every year and it’s been a staple for me for a few years (with the exception of this year) on every Christmas Eve. The 30+ story high rise is the main setting of the film as New York City cop John McClane takes on a team of armed terrorists hell bent on robbing the building’s vault of $640 million while holding partygoers hostage on the 30th floor and rigging the building to blow. The building itself could be a potential monstrosity to build as it could be anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 pieces depending on if designers intend it to be opened to recreate famous scenes like the roof jump as the roof explodes or the fight between John and Karl. There would be a litany of minifigures potentially included like John, Holly, Hans, Karl, Tony, Theo, Al Powell, Argyle (and his limo), Special Agent Johnson and even the smug and egotistical Ellis. There’s lots of potential if LEGO were to secure the rights to use the film to build the infamous Nakatomi Plaza and while it’d be a pricey set, it’d be one fans of the film and the franchise would want to both collect and construct. 

CIA/NOC List Vault (Mission Impossible) 

While an unlikely candidate for a set, this was actually used in the LEGO Dimensions game as part of the Mission Impossible expansion pack. The scene where Ethan rappels down into the vault to retrieve the list could be faithfully recreated to the finest detail including the black floor when the vault door is open and activated via a battery like switch similar in The Upside Down set. With the film celebrating it’s 25th anniversary, it would be cool if LEGO worked on an idea to recreate the scene along with the firetruck that provided the cover and escape for Ethan’s team. Some minifigures that would be possible could be Ethan, Krieger, Luther, Claire and CIA analyst William Donloe. The set could also include a small toilet stall with a bucket for when Donloe has to repeatedly throw up in the bathroom. The vault itself could include the outside digit access panel and the security area involving the retinal scanner before entering the vault to faithfully recreate that portion of the film. 

Sunnydale High School Library (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) 

Last but not least is one of the most iconic TV shows of the late 90s and early 2000s...Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Throughout the series, the Scooby Gang had a lot of iconic hangout spots like The Bronze and the Summers house but none more iconic stands out than the high school’s library. The pilot episode took Buffy here as she met the librarian Giles who foretells her of her destiny to be a vampire slayer. Throughout the series she meets a quirky collection of friends and battles the big baddies along the way to destroying the first evil and saving the world. Some minifigures included would be Buffy (I’d like the season 1 finale outfit), Giles, Willow, Xander, Cordelia, Oz, Angel and Spike. 

While this is just my opinion of what I’d like, I’d also like to hear from you...the audience. Heck, send ideas to LEGO themselves as suggestions too.

Ministra Cartabia, dopo decenni le autorità francesi accolgono le nostre richieste e arrestano i terroristi italiani che si sono rifatti una vita in Francia. Lei come titolare della giustizia ha gestito questa ultima fase. Cosa è cambiato rispetto al passato?

«Questa vicenda si protrae da oltre quattro decenni. Dietro questa svolta c' è un lavoro che ha coinvolto negli anni vari soggetti a più livelli. Sin dal mio primo colloquio col ministro della Giustizia francese ho percepito una chiara sensibilità alla portata storica e politica del problema, un'umana partecipazione al dolore delle vittime e una netta determinazione ad impegnarsi per porvi rimedio.

Non so se le origini italiane del ministro Dupond-Moretti, di cui va molto fiero, possano aver giocato un ruolo. Decisivo è stato anche il fatto che, mai come ora, tutte le nostre istituzioni si sono mosse in modo compatto e tempestivo. Una modalità d' azione, a cui ispirarsi sempre».

L'Eliseo ha confermato la dottrina Mitterrand, ma ha concesso quello che prima negava. Perché?

«Nel colloquio con Dupond-Moretti ho ribadito con fermezza l'importanza del fattore tempo, avendo ben presente il calendario delle imminenti prescrizioni. La prossima sarebbe stata il 10 maggio. Quanto ci vorrà per l' effettiva estradizione in Italia?

«Difficile fare previsioni precise, anche perché si tratta di fascicoli complessi. Di certo, io direi non dobbiamo aspettarci un rientro a breve, nei prossimi giorni. Gli arresti di ieri servivano a scongiurare il pericolo di fuga. Ora i giudici valuteranno se convalidarli e se applicare misure cautelari. Poi inizieranno i procedimenti, per valutare caso per caso la sussistenza dei presupposti per la concessione dell' estradizione. E poi ancora, come sempre avviene in queste procedure, l' ultima parola è dell' autorità politica».

Cosa garantisce che queste persone arrivino in Italia?

Negli anni 80 a diversi arresti in Francia non è seguita poi l' estradizione.

«Come accennato poco fa, la procedura è ancora molto lunga e articolata e soggetta a specifiche valutazioni che terranno conto dei singoli casi. Per questo, gli esiti sono ora tutti nelle mani dell' autorità giudiziaria francese. Certamente, il clima in cui questa svolta è avvenuta mi pare molto diverso rispetto ad allora».

Che giustizia è quella attuata con tanto ritardo sui fatti contestati?

«Nessun ordinamento giuridico può permettersi che una pagina così lacerante della storia nazionale resti nell' ambiguità, e resti irrisolta. La storia offre numerosi esempi di giudizi celebrati e di vicende giudiziarie portati a compimento a molti anni di distanza. La nostra volontà di riproporre la richiesta delle estradizioni non risponde nel modo più assoluto ad una sete di vendetta, che mi è estranea, ma ad un imperioso bisogno di chiarezza, fondamento di ogni reale possibilità di rieducazione, riconciliazione e riparazione, fini ultimi e imprescindibili della pena».

Si può ancora parlare di rieducazione della pena a distanza di 40 anni?

«Qualunque processo di rieducazione e anche di riconciliazione personale e sociale, specie dopo ferite particolarmente profonde, non può non partire dal riconoscimento di ciò che è accaduto e da un' assunzione chiara di responsabilità. Non a caso, in Sud Africa, dopo l' Apartheid, è stata costituita una commissione denominata "verità e riconciliazione". Questo è forse il primo rilevante esempio di giustizia riparativa, che tra l' altro ha ispirato un analogo percorso qui in Italia tra protagonisti della lotta armata e i familiari delle vittime».

La vicenda di Battisti e la confessione finale di diversi delitti, negati quando stava in Francia e in Brasile, può aver avuto un ruolo?

«Sicuramente questa vicenda ha contribuito a dare una visione più corrispondente alla realtà degli anni di piombo e quindi a creare anche in Francia un clima più favorevole all' accoglimento delle richieste italiane».

"I want to live a life that isn't based on materialistic values and yet the whole system of government and the economy of America is based on profit, on personal greed and selfishness so that in order to be human in order to love each other and to be equal with each other and not place each other in roles, we have to destroy the kind of government that keeps us asserting our positive values of life."

This was no success because the government released the police and national guards to stop the protesters. Because they couldn't fight the state, they decided to take a different approach. Instead of killing the policemen in the head, they wanted to get inside the mind and remove it. Start with yourself. And so the personal became political. All that was left was small group of nuns that were radical lesbian nuns.

In the late 60s people were very focused on searching for themselves and it had an impact on the economy. Example: students stopped buying life insurance after University because that's something a person who plans for the future does. If you live in the moment, you don't need it. That's where the

was born. Before that, everything was the same for everyone. So the advertisers wanted to make new focus groups but the new expressive individualists didn't take part in them. Also, making expressive things meant making variety of them and American mass production didn't work like that. Earhart figured out a way to help people become themselves in mass groups. And do they peeled off layer after layer until they came to a recognition that everything's meaningless and that gives huge freedom because you can only create something from nothing. Now the institute made several categories for people to fit into and that gave companies a way to market their products.

Then this took a turn as in 1980 Ronald Reagan ran for president and was convinced by his advisors that taking in consideration the individualist groups was the way to win the election. He picked a speach that was called "let the people rule". A part from the speach "and I envision leadership in taking government off your backs and turning you loose."

This was very radical, the press and everyone else was very sceptic except for the individual people. At first some scientist didn't believe that this could work because the individualist didn't care for the government and would never vote Republican or right, but Reagans team believed it would work. And it did. That showed the power of this approach - social class, age and other democratics were not nearly as important as these new categories.

Ronald Reagan was the president who ultimately made denial of compassion respectable all because of this individualist thinking. Now caring about those in need and only about yourself. "You've worked hard for your money! You shouldn't have to feel guilty about refusing to throw it away on people who chose to be homeless and choose not to work" he said it in a way that doesn't sound harsh.

They now used focus groups for exploring the thoughts and feelings of people to invent new ranges of products, witch would allow those groups to express what they believed was their individuality. Also computers were starting to work so making small amounts of products was no longer a problem and mass production disappeared. Now there isn't a market that can fill the needs of people and there are no more definite needs.

Now there is a market based on self expression that has infinite needs in infinitely different ways.
