Yeah, Cedric and Orube is a damn good pairing and I'm shipping it, but we need to talk about another Asian cat girl with a bob haircut. I mean, spiders are 8-legged cats, right?

A very important note! I headcannon that Miranda is at least over 18 and probably as old as Orube, but in human form she's very short and young looking because of her Asian features. BUT she doesn't look like a child and is using make-up to fool Elyon. Minors don't consent, kids!

TV!Show based, personal hc is that elyon would get bored of queen duties and would stop by to visit phobos, cedric, and miranda. Phobos and Miranda make their displeasure / annoyance known when she drops by while Cedric is just straight up neutral / unbothered by her, and doesnt mind listening (in the show at least)

While I do love fanfic that has them being cute with each other yeah, I can acknowledge that the main appeal of their ship is the tragedy and the drama.

Especially considering that their dynamic shifts depending on what part of the timeline we're on. As kids, then teenagers, Roland being married to Lorelei, Roland being a single father, Roland getting married to Miranda, all of those would change the nature of their relationship drastically.

(And this post gives me an excuse to talk about that a little bit yay!)

In most fan fictions I've seen they've only ever been set in the period either when Roland is courting/just married to Lorelei, or set in the time where Roland should be married to Miranda, but she'll be mentioned so little in the fic or even not at all, that it's nebulous as to whether they even are married or this is an au where they never were.

I think the main 2 parts of the timeline that I would want to see explored in fan fictions are the time when Roland is a single father (he's single Cedric, now is your chance! But Cedric doesn't want to be a co-parent, oh no! The drama! But seriously though I do think that that would be a major factor in whether they'd be able to have a long-term romantic relationship. I think that would be something that Roland would find incredibly important, because if his boyfriend can't get along with his kids, that would be a deal breaker for him I think).

And the other part is once we're at the point in the timeline where Cedric actually has become reformed because of Sofia. Which means that Roland is definitely married to Miranda. Which means now we got some kind of love triangle drama that either ends in tragedy or ends in a polyamorous relationship, (former could be angsty, but I really want to see the latter. Roland can have his morally dubious magical boyfriend, Miranda can get a morally dubious magical girlfriend! And then they can still enjoy their happy marriage together! All is balanced).

And then of course there's always stuff you can do out of the Canon timeline, like if Cedric actually did take over Enchancia… delicious angst. Or if Roland never became king and Cedric never became royal sorcerer in the first place.

honestly, with the little amount of fics available, i’ll take just about anything 🙏😭 but, i must admit, i loveeee any fic that leans into the tragic nature of their relationship. it just makes the ship so much more exciting imo.

Enchancia had fallen. Once a kingdom of enchanting beauty and unwavering prosperity, it now stood as a reminder of the malevolent overturn led by the sorcerer. In the days of old, Enchancia was once known for its lush landscapes, bright skies, ethereal flora, and a radiating positive vibe that was felt by all of the people who lived there. All but for one.

An outcast, Cedric was a target of ridicule and scorn, for his abilities were not like his ancestors’. His magic was untamed and unpredictable, often leading to accidents that left the villagers resentful, and the royal family disappointed. Since he was a boy, he was teased mercilessly, and with each form of mockery, Cedric’s heart grew heavy with each cruel word and teasing laugh.

Years of dealing with the torment changed Cedric. His once kind and gentle nature gave way to bitterness and resentment. He grew obsessed with power, determined to prove himself to all those who ever doubted him. Months of locking himself up in his dingy tower, studying ancient books, desperate to find a way to strengthen his powers. As he studied, the malevolent force took root within his heart, and his once optimistic eyes darkened with an insatiable thirst for revenge.

You were the first obstacle in Cedric’s road to rule. You were recently hired by the King as a nanny of sorts, tasked with the responsibility of babysitting the children, escorting them to events, and being a general companion and role model as they grew up. Cedric first met you on your first day - not that he particularly wanted to, but as ‘royal sorcerer’, he was obligated to attend all royal ceremonies and perform some extravagant show like a lion in a circus. He expected the event to be dull and sour, but he didn’t expect to feel his heart soften so much when he saw you. You were a stark contrast to the sorcerer, a sight for sore eyes. You filled the palace with your warmth, your laughter and your powerful ability to put up with the energetic children so much. The two of you would interact often, as Cedric was often dragged out of the safety of his tower by the new princess. Unbeknownst to Cedric, he found himself inexplicably drawn to your presence. Your kindness and innocence began to chip away at the walls around his heart, and he struggled to suppress the warmth he felt whenever he was around you.

He hated you. Cedric could not stand the vulnerable way you made him feel. How you sent him into a spiral of doubt about himself and his plans whenever you even gazed in his direction. He could not stand you.

Alas, your kindness was not enough to thaw the coldness that had developed within Cedric. His plans of stealing the amulet from Sofia had finally, finally succeeded, and he unleashed his dark magic upon the kingdom immediately. Imprisoning the royal couple, Enchancia was plunged into darkness, its once vibrant colours fading to shades of grey. Cedric was consumed by the anger and despair that had fogged his heart for so long, and had allowed himself to be taken over by the negativity.

You had acted fast, but not fast enough to prevent the royal couple’s imprisonment. Eager to protect the children, you had no choice but to flee the kingdom to Avalor, taking the royal children under your wing. You were welcomed with open arms, the royals vowing to protect yourself and the children, promising and reassuring no harm would ever come to you. But your heart was shattered. Utterly broken.

It had been three years since the fall of Enchancia, and you had never given up hope. The devastation of your heartbreak fuelled determination. As the years passed, a glimmer of hope began to stir within your heart. You led a group of brave and resilient individuals who sought to free the royal couple from Cedric’s tyranny. You were desperate to return the children’s parents to them safely, freeing them from the bitter ruling of a man you once thought you loved. Together, yourself and the group embarked on a perilous quest to restore Enchancia.

Cedric had all but forgotten about his adoration for you as the years went past. His heart grew colder every passing day, focusing solely on maintaining his tyrannical grip over the kingdom, and strengthening his powers.

A crisp autumn night, the moon hung low in the sky. Cedric sat on the throne, the room dusk with shadows and lit up by the twinkle of the night. Silence. Silence. Footsteps. He looked up. A cloaked figure stood before him, their eyes filled with both sorrow and determination. You raised your head and made eye contact with the man. His heart skipped a beat. When their eyes met, time seemed to stand still. Cedric could hardly believe his eyes, for there stood the person he once loved. You were worn down with the journey and the weight of your travels, but you still possessed a beauty that could rival the most enchanting sunrise.

As the memories of their love came flooding back, Cedric was overcome with a torrent of conflicting emotions — remorse for the path he had chosen, anger at himself for betraying you, and an overwhelming sense of wanting to be near you, wanting to justify and explain himself to you. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. You looked at him with cold eyes, and a straight face, a wave of hatred rushing over you as you took in his appearance. The crown on his head was too big, and he was remarkably skinnier. His face was slim and his fingers tapped the arms of the throne idly as he gazed at you with a gaping mouth.

Silence again.

“Where are they?”

Your voice filled the silence of the room loudly, startling Cedric out of his trance.

“I— what?”

You snarled at his patheticness, at how weak and stupid he sounded as he looked at you with confusion.

“The king and queen. Where are they?” You asked again, stepping closer to Cedric slowly as you put your hand in your pocket. Unbeknownst to Cedric, you had been taking magic lessons from the Royal Sorcerer in Avalor, and had grown to possess a healthy power, enough to battle Cedric if needed.

Cedric wasn’t stupid. He knew what you were doing, he knew what you had planned as soon as you put your hand into your pocket. His face grew cold once more as he realised that, you too, doubted him. You still saw him as the pathetic sorcerer he once was. You never believed in him, in fact, you probably agreed with everyone too, laughed at their mocking jokes behind his back. He laughed to himself quietly as he realised what you wanted, and found it humorous how you thought you could take over him so easily.

“My dear, you haven’t learnt a thing, have you not? Look around.” He stood from the throne and held his arms out, gesturing to the empty room.

“I am in control. Whatever mere spells you’ve got up your sleeve are pointless against me.”

He smirked as he drew his wand, muttering a spell and drawing you close to him with the force that expelled from the tip of it. Your faces were inches away as you grunted and groaned with frustration, dropping your own wand and being overcome with the inability to move from his force. His breath felt hot against your face as you looked into his cold, dead eyes. There was nothing there. Nothing but hatred and despair.

“It’s laughable, really. I hadn’t thought about you for years, and here you are. I could do whatever I wanted to you.”

He whispered, stroking a slender finger down your cheek as you struggled. Tears began to well in your eyes as the determination shattered, the realisation kicking in that this is how it would be.

“Silence, my dear? You looked as though you had a lot to say.” Cedric teased, his hand finding his way to your hair as he stroked it.

“Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of time to talk. You’re going nowhere.”

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

Probably how great a mother she is! I like that even when Sofia messes up, Miranda will talk things through instead of mocking her or insulting her. I also like how she tries her best to be a good mother to Amber and James as well. AND. SHE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO LOOKS GENUINELY CONCERNED ABOUT SOFIA'S NEW PROTECTOR JOB IN THE FINALE. COMMON MIRANDA W.

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

Eh, I wasn't a complete fan of her in Carol of the Arrow. But then again, I wasn't really a fan of that episode in general.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I have a headcanon that she did not go near boats and ships after Birk was lost at sea, so even agreeing to go along on the trip to Merroway Cove was a hard choice for her. Connected to this, I also headcanon that she used to know how to sail, but pretty much forgot how to, which is why she had to take sailing lessons to refresh her knowledge.

15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)

Definitely Roland x Miranda (Rolanda?). They're so cute! I like how she calls him Roly <3 I think they work together well. They very clearly love each other, Roland values her and her opinions, she goes to great lengths to do special things for him (re: the sailing lessons). (Special mention to them in The Curse of Princess Ivy, they were adorable and I can clearly hear in my head the way Roland is like "scone? 😏" jxjaudhajxhsbxj)

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

Cedric! I really need them to be best friends. Or at least, good friends. Firstly because Cedric needs more friends, secondly because of the way she recognised how hard he's hard it growing up. I feel like Miranda would be a good friend. Genuinely.

26. What's something the character has done you can't get over? Be it something funny, bad, good, serious, whatever?

THE LOOK SHE GAVE ROLAND TOWARDS THE END OF THE FLOATING PALACE WHEN HE SEES THE MERMAID QUEEN??? PRICELESS. IT LIVES IN MY HEAD RENT-FREE.

So I read the first chapter of your Cedric x Reader fanfic and came to share my thoughts.

I will say, I'm not too fond of x Reader, I'm more about reading about characters instead of being one. That being said, I liked that there was an effort to include other characters from stf, and I actually got invested from how the fic was formatted as a genuine stf episode.

I don't want to be too critical of the portrayal of some of the characters, but as a Roland enjoyer, I felt your portrayal of him was quite decent until it came to Cedric. I'm not sure at what point the story is supposed to take place in besides being between Great Auntventure and Day of the Sorcerers, but I feel that Roland being unhappy about Cedric coming along doesn't feel in character. At most points in the show, Roland is shown to not mind Cedric, let alone with Sofia. Cedric's Apprentice was an episode where Sofia literally became Cedric's apprentice so he could help her for a test, and Roland never once objects to her being with Cedric. I think Roland doesn't have as big of a gripe as people think because he's more disappointed at Cedric not being able to do magic than him as a person overall.

That being said, I love how you wrote him as someone who respected Sofia's wishes and let her bring Cedric along to the carnival. That is very much like Roland to see that Sofia likes something and sets aside his biases for his daughter. I can understand headcanoning Roland not liking Cedric as a person, and It's not something I'd agree with, but I absolutely agree with him respecting his children and their wishes.

As for the royal family as a whole, I didn't expect them to take as much of a focus as they did, and it was a pleasant surprise to have the children interact with Y/N. In fact, the format of the fic was so creative, with the royal family being so involved, I found myself being invested more in that than the x Reader parts. That's just me liking things not involving Cedric more because of how focused he is in the fandom. I wanted to talk more about the other aspects of the fic because I think people would find these elements such a treat.

While the royal family isn't THE main focus, I found Amber and Miranda to be a bit weird as characters. The fact I preferred the writing for James over them says something. With Miranda, I felt she wasn't a character like everyone else. The only role she seemed to have was as a mother and nothing else. The way she didn't have as much of a prominence as the others bummed me out. And it's not that she had to have a bigger role, but I felt myself questioning where she was.

My thoughts about Amber are based on my opinion, but the way she was written felt mixed to me. There were parts where she felt like Amber, like her excitement at getting her fortune told, but her being interested in whether she has a spouse?? I don't know, I personally don't think she would be too interested in that, or at least would be more interested in other aspects of her future. Plus the "I AM EASY" part caught me off guard. That part with the part before of Amber eating fast but elegantly did not pair well. It felt like Hildegard core.

These are just my thoughts though. I really enjoyed reading this fanfic despite some parts I didn't jive with. I would recommend it for anyone who likes a storyline with their smoochies with Cedric rjdbhdidjdjdjrj

First of all I always try to make my one shots feel like they could more or less happen in the StF canon, so I’m glad it works!!

Regarding Roland, I know that you love him but I don’t necessarily like him that much. I think he’s okay most of the time, I just hate him for fun lmao (that’s probably why I wrote him as less likable than he actually is)

About the characters overall, this was my first piece of StF fan fiction and when I was writing this I hadn’t finished the show yet (I was maybe at the beginning of season 2) so the characters hadn’t gone through all the development they had to go through yet, and I guess I didn’t have that good of a grasp on their personalities. Now that you point it out, looking back Amber was never boy crazy so I agree that that bit doesn’t make any sense (😭), and yeah I guess Miranda ended up being just… mom.

In my AU, Cedric in our world works for the fictional organization GUARDIANS, which hunts and studies creatures that come from the portal, and also makes sure that no citizens get hurt, not to mention that she guards and searches in every possible way new portals so that people do not go into them and get lost in other worlds.

Intelligent beings are very rare, so Phobos and Miranda are worth their weight in gold in all respects, but so far they, being from another world, do not have any rights. What can I say, our things have more rights than theirs! Therefore, they need careful supervision, and no matter how well they are settled on Earth, they cannot calmly move around the streets without supervision. X)

Cedric is not up to them, even though he tries his best to spend more time with them (mainly to study and extract more information about their worlds), so he safely floated them to Raythor's apartment.

Runaway from an Arranged Marriage | Cedric X Reader

This had been the day you had been dreading. You were the child to a very wealthy king who had wanted to preserve his wealth throughout the generations of his family - this had meant that you were entitled to an arranged marriage with another prince from the following Kingdom. The Kingdom of Enchancia was not your home; but you had unexpectedly fallen in love with the Kingdom since your family's first visit many years ago and had decided to stay with Roland and Miranda until it was time for the marriage to go ahead.

But what you didn't expect was to fall in love with another aspect of Enchancia - the royal sorcerer. Sparks instantly flew between you and Cedric the moment you first met and he had captured your heart completely. For the first time in a long time, you were happy - but the arranged marriage hung over your head like a bomb waiting for the perfect moment to explode.

There was no way you could admit to your father that you had grown feelings towards the royal sorcerer of Enchancia (especially one with such a damaged reputation across all the nearby Kingdoms). You could picture his face swelling up with anger and pressing the arranged marriage to an even closer date. It was a ghastly thought, so you and Cedric had no choice but to keep your relationship private and secret to those outside the castle.

"Roland! You know what day it is today, don't you my friend?" A booming voice came from the entrance of the throne room, followed by a grinning king and a worried-looking Baileywick, looking to Roland with fear. Roland glanced at Baileywick and back to the king, raising an eyebrow with confusion.

"My apologies, I don't believe I follow?"

The king laughed with a shake of his head. He was dressed in his finest clothes, gold and burgundy glamorising his status as king.

"You know! The wedding! I require you to bring them down immediately, we've already got everything we need in our carriage. Of course, you and your family are invited to the wedding, I wouldn't have it any other way - have you met the family of this prince they're marrying? Very wealthy-"

The king rambled on to Roland, but you were already aware of the situation. Your fathers voice was loud enough to disrupt birds flying high in the sky, and the very sense of hearing it made you freeze up and shoot a look at your boyfriend. A look full of sorrow.

Cedric sighed and turned his head away from you. He too, was dreading this day, and had been ever since you had told him of the awful plans locked in place since you were small. He knew the family that you were being married into - wealthy indeed, but also snobby. Although he welded a high power of magic and sorcery, he knew he was powerless against the decisions made by your father. There was nothing he could do to keep you to himself. You'd be travelling far away, across multiple kingdoms, there was just no chance of a secure way of contact between the two of you. Your fate was inevitable.

Suddenly, he felt a strong weight pushed against his chest and lock around his waist. You had grasped him in a tight hug, hungry not to let go for a second, all of your strength gripping onto his lanky body and plum robe. It was obvious you were crying by the way your chest lifted up and down in an irregular pattern, and the sniffles that were muffed by the fabric of his robe. Cedric let out a breath and wrapped his arms around you, reciprocating the hug. His arms were a makeshift barrier of protection, keeping you all to himself and shielding you from anybody attempting to take you away. The sorcerer's head fell against yours, as he used his delicate hands to stroke the back of your hair - soothing and comforting you. You both began to rock in a motion, remaining like that for as long as you could before a gentle knock was tapped on the door of Cedric's workshop.

"It's only me, your majesty." You heard Baileywick's voice from behind the wooden door. It was filled with empathy. Hesitantly, you pulled away from Cedric, staring into his hazel eyes for a second before opening the door slowly. Baileywick was stood with a sad smile on his face, shaking his head. In that moment, you all knew that it was time to go.

You all made your way down to the throne room, where your father was still rambling on to Roland about the plans today. He looked worried and shot glances over at Miranda, who looked equally as sympathetic. Cedric stood close behind you, looking down at the ground and clearing his throat softly. You looked up at your father and a sudden shot of adrenaline shot over your body.

"I'm not going."

The sudden interruption stopped your father from speaking, as he chuckled awkwardly and turned his direction to you. "Sorry, my darling?"

"I said I'm not going."

Your father's expression slowly began to drop as he shook his head. "You've known about this for too long now. You are going whether you like it or not."

You opened your mouth to resort, but no words came out. You had to admit to defeat against your father and his forceful manner of action. Cedric reached down and held your hand, slipping his fingers in between yours and gripping onto you tightly. He gave your hand a gentle squeeze of reassurance and farewell. You turned your head to him and bit your lip, before placing a gentle kiss on his cheek and beginning to move towards your father.

That night, Cedric sat in his workshop, alone. It was the first time that Cedric had been alone in his workshop since you had formed a relationship. He was feeling many emotions, but he mainly felt numb. He sat at his desk, staring blankly into a piece of parchment paper. The family had given him their condolences - especially Princess Sofia, who had given Cedric extra hugs and offered her support to the sorcerer.

A knock at Cedric's window scared him. It was rapid and desperate, causing Cedric to shoot up and run to the window to check what the peculiar noise was.

You were there. And you were on a carriage, alone, with the driver looking painfully annoyed. You were back.
