Character Development
Plans for Development.
CAREER MOVES: Right now, Nadia is in the “funemployed” sector of life. She is self employed through her YouTube channel, blog, and Instagram pictures, and she works as a model, but I’d like to see her make bigger steps with makeup, whether she becomes a salesgirl at a department store, starts creating her own product, or launches her own brand.
LOVE IS HERE TO STAY: I hate posting this as a plot development because I’m never someone who relies on shipping to keep me going in a group, but I think it would be nice for Nadia to find someone she really hits it off with and who will treat her right, since her last and only major relationship ended up in major flames.
SEXUALITY: Nadia is pansexual but I’d like her to lean towards women. The only relationship she’s ever been in was with a man, so I’d like her to explore her sexuality and reclaim her confidence in that regard.
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL GIRL GANG: Nadia is a fierce, strong independent woman, and I’d like for her to surround herself with other fierce, strong, independent women who will lift each other up and support each other.
Other.
SKYLAR BAUTISTA: Nadia’s abusive ex-boyfriend, who is currently in prison. They met and formed their relationship when they both were in art school. Skylar dabbled in painting but his forte was sculpture. As two incredibly talented artists, they were often put in competition with each other which started out as a sexy tension thing for them before Skylar showed his true colors. They lived together for two years before Nadia’s parents pulled her out of his abusive cycle, and now he’s in jail where he belongs. Boy bye.
Character Biography
ABUSE TW
Nadia Emiliana Martinez couldn’t tell you much about her birth parents, or about her life before the accident. The road was icy and visibility was poor, so when Emilio Alvarez spun off the road, he and his wife were without a seatbelt. Only Nadia, strapped into the backseat, was left with minimal scratches, but a scar that resides on her scalp from blunt-force trauma to the head. While it was unclear if she was going to make it, she did, and with no other family to claim her, she was put into the foster system. There were two times when she was almost adopted, but things ended up not working out. Nadia felt like she was a used car or a puppy that nobody wanted, and the older she got, the more clear it was to her that she would be without a family until she was eighteen years old, and would be truly alone in the world.
All throughout her life, she’d been attracted to drawing, painting, and photography. Anything she could get her hands on immediately became something to create. Nadia had nothing and made a habit out of stealing supplies from the art room until one day she was caught by the art teacher who gave her an entire box set of colored pencils, paper, and paints. Nadia broke down into tears that day, and she treasured every single one of those supplies until she used them all up. The only solace she found was in painting, taking the beautiful images she saw in her brain and putting them on paper.
Nadia stayed in the foster system until she was an extremely opinionated fifteen-year-old girl, where she was taken in by David and Stefanie Martinez. Nadia didn’t know what to make of her new family, especially since she was waiting for the day that she was brought back to foster care. Nadia’s birthday came up almost two weeks after she was adopted, and she burst into tears yet again when she opened up a beautiful vintage camera in perfect working order. Then, Nadia knew she’d found her forever home and her forever family. This was the only reason why she didn’t want to leave Lemon Grove when it came time for Nadia to apply for college. She had just found her people, and going far away from them didn’t stack up in the cards, so Nadia went to the Miami Fine Arts Academy less than an hour away.
It was in college that she met Skylar, someone who was going to become a huge part of her life in a very short way. Even though Nadia was far from an impressionable eighteen-year-old, Skylar played her hook, line, and sinker. Nadia didn’t realize the true chaos that lay within him until her confidence was shattered. He was also an artist, and they were frequently in competition with each other. At first, it was a healthy competition, something that got their engines revving, but Nadia quickly became to blame whenever she had her paintings win a contest. As they got older, it got worse. If Nadia and Skylar’s paintings were both in a gallery and Nadia’s sold first, she was expected to give him the money. Sex, which Nadia had first enjoyed, became a chore and something to dread, and Nadia quickly realized she didn’t like having it with him anymore. The man she thought she loved was gone, and everything between them had become toxic.
Nadia’s parents were worried as their vivacious girl retreated more and more into her shell. She was too scared to talk to anyone about her treatment. Things came to a breaking point when Skylar hit her. That was when the pattern started-- he’d hit her, apologize, take her to a fancy dinner and buy her beautiful clothes, and then he’d hit her again. He forced her to wear a full face of makeup all the time, to the point where Nadia would wake up two hours early to cover up the bruises all over her face and body. She got great at doing makeup.
Eventually, things came to a breaking point, and after a surprise visit from her parents, they immediately took her home. Skylar soon followed, and things got heated in an argument between David and Skylar. Eventually, the police were called, Skylar was arrested for domestic abuse, and sent to prison. Free from her cage, Nadia is slowly getting back into what she loves most: painting, art, and photography. She works as a model in Miami but also has a popular YouTube channel where she posts unboxing videos, makeup tutorials, BTS of her photoshoots, and frequently participates in the “4 Photographers Shoot The Same Model” series. She’s happy, she’s home, and she’s thriving, which is the most important thing she can be.

Character Information
Full Name. Tatiana Michaela Cohen-Chang.
Age & Birthday. 23 | November 22.
Gender Identity. Cisfemale.
Preferred Pronouns. She/her.
Romantic Orientation. Bisexual.
Sexual Orientation. Biromantic.
Hometown. Houston, Texas.
Neighborhood. Orchard Park.
Family Information
Mother. Sabrina Cohen-Chang.
Father. Timothy Cohen-Chang.
Siblings. Tina Cohen Chang (Age TBD), Cohen-Chang #2 (Age TBD).
Pets. Tatum (English Bulldog)
Other Family Members of Importance. Camila Moreno (biological mother).
Please describe your character’s family dynamics. The Cohen-Chang’s always made sure that their children were open-minded. Sabrina and Timothy sat them down to talk about the current news to make sure they knew what was going on in the world. They also made sure that the kids were in touch with their culture. Sabrina and Timothy were very loving which sometimes came off as a bit overprotective. She’s been in contact with her biological mother, Camila, over the years but she’s not close. In fact, she still resents her mother for everything but she can’t seem to part from her.
Personality Information
Positive Traits. Responsible, loyal, intelligent, clear-headed, cultured.
Negative Traits. Insecure, gullible, rebellious, bossy, impulsive.
Star Sign. Sagittarius.
Likes. Singing, travelling, shopping, movies, dogs.
Dislikes. Pain, being late, being alone, mustard, coffee.
Pet Peeves. Slow walkers, close-minded people, and line cutters.
Most Embarrassing Memory. When Tatiana got her first period, she was at school. She had no idea that she was about to come on so when she stood up, she was a bloody mess. The kids oh-so cleverly called her ‘Bloody Mary’ for the rest of the year.
Hobbies. Binge watching shows and cookie even though she’s bad at it.
Guilty Pleasure. Eating baby food.
Unusual Talents. She can draw perfect circles.
Habits. Swearing and emotional shopping.
Occupation Information
If your character is currently employed:
Occupation. Post Office Clerk/Stripper.
Place of Work. Lemon Grove Post Office/Molly’s Room.
Character Development
Plans for Development.
One. Tatiana is very stubborn and it’s hard to get through to her. It’s her world and everyone else is just living in it. I want her to realize that she isn’t always right and everything doesn’t have to go her way. Her stubbornness often gets in the way of important relationships but she’s too bull-headed to see that.
Two. Tatiana deals with some abandonment issues. Because of this, she doesn’t like letting people too close to her. Sure, she’s cool with a lot of people but she never allows herself to get close to them. With the few friends that she has, she finds herself clinging onto them. Tatiana is afraid of them leaving her so she does everything in her power to make them stay. I’d like her to sort through these issues of hers one day and learn how to be okay with being by herself. Moving to Lemon Grove by herself was a big step for her but she’s gotta keep on pushing.
Three. Tatiana wants to be adored and cherished. She wants to fit in somewhere. It was a struggle being adopted growing up. She accepted the fact that she was adopted but others couldn’t. She was constantly teased for having parents that ‘didn’t look like her.’ She tries to fit in for all of the wrong reasons and would do whatever it takes to be accepted. I want her to realize and understand that she doesn’t have to change for a single soul, to see that she’s perfect the way she is. Her insecurities are holding her back from reaching this goal but I know she can get there.
Other.
She’s halfway there but I just want her to be more independent! She’s been living on her own for three years now but she still feels like this is her first year being alone. I want her to develop some genuine relationships/friendships.
Character Biography
MENTIONS OF DRUG USE AND CHILD NEGLECT
Sabrina and Timothy Cohen-Chang always wanted a house full of kids. They tried to get pregnant as soon as possible. After several failed attempts, the doctors told the couple that Sabrina couldn’t have children. This was hard on them, of course, but they knew they had other options: adoption. She didn’t know it yet but this was great news for Tatiana. Her mother, Camila, was in no position to raise her daughter. She didn’t have a steady job and the longest that she had ever stayed sober was for the duration of her pregnancy. Camila wasn’t a great mom to say the least. She was addicted to drugs and becoming clean was not in her near future. Tatiana spent time with her grandmother who didn’t want much to do with her either. For four years, Tatiana was stuck in a hellhole. Being neglected took a huge toll on her. She ended up being taken away from her family and placed into foster care. She stayed there until she was almost six. When she was five and a half, Tatiana met the Cohen-Chang’s. They fostered her for awhile but soon grew attached to her and adopted her.
Growing up in the Cohen-Chang household was a wonderful change. Her hair no longer smelled of cigarettes. It smelled like strawberries. She ate good meals. Three times a day. She even had a snack. Tatiana’s parents were successful surgeons and made a great earning. Even though they had busy schedules, they always made time for their kids. Sabrina and Timothy not only showered them with gifts but with love and attention. Tatiana was open-minded, just how she was raised to be. She grew up knowing all that happened in the world and she was articulate enough to fully understand what was going on. Her parents always taught her to be nonjudgmental and to treat everyone kindly. Her parents also always made sure that she was in touch with her Mexican-Colombian roots. They knew how important culture was and didn’t want Tatiana to miss out on anything.
Overprotective was an understatement when it came to Mr. and Mrs. Cohen-Chang. They treated their children like glass and didn’t want anything to happen to them. Tatiana wasn’t a big fan of this and would find herself rebelling against her parents. She even went through a “I hate you, you aren’t my real parents” phase. It wasn’t her proudest moment. Tatiana and her parents had a rocky relationship during her teenage years. With her sneaking out, coming home late, and talking back it was a lot for them to deal with. They weren’t used to this Tatiana. They were used to the one that had good grades, president of student council, and mathletes member. It took awhile for her to shake her rebellious ways. Mainly because she believed she was stubborn and believed that this was her world and everyone was just living in it.
When she was 20, Tatiana moved to Lemon Grove all on her own. It was one of the hardest things that she had to do but it needed to be done. She felt caged, like she couldn’t be herself. She was wild, she was fun, she was a mess. At home, she felt the need to be so clean cut. And that wasn’t her in the slightest bit. Tatiana knew she was intelligent and could go far in life but she didn’t want to go to Harvard like her parents. Going to medical school wasn’t her goal. In all honesty, she hated school. She was great at it but she really only did well to make her parents proud. Working in a postal office and becoming a stripper wasn’t something she saw herself doing but it paid the bills. Besides, she was still young and had a lot of aspirations. Being away from her parents were great but they still wanted to keep tabs on Tatiana. They had some serious empty nest syndrome. Tatiana usually goes back to Tampa to visit her parents so they won’t come to her. Lemon Grove wasn’t the biggest town and it wasn’t full of opportunities. But it was cheap and it was quiet and she kind of liked it here. She knew that her parents would be disappointed in her so she tried to hide her job and living situation for as long as she could. Would it blow up in her face? For sure. But she was willing to take her chances and live life the way she wanted to.

Character Information
Full Name. Cooper James Anderson.
Age & Birthday. 29 / August 20, 1989.
Gender Identity. Cismale.
Preferred Pronouns. He/him.
Romantic Orientation. Biromantic.
Sexual Orientation. Bisexual.
Hometown. San Francisco, CA.
Neighborhood. The Junction.
Family Information
Mother. Melissa Grove (birth mother, deceased); raised by Rebecca Anderson, Arnold’s second wife (and later the twins’ mother).
Father. Arnold Anderson.
Siblings. Blaine (younger half-brother, 24) and Cane (younger half-brother, 24).
Pets. N/A.
Other Family Members of Importance. Pap Anderson (grandfather).
Please describe your character’s family dynamics. Cooper’s birth mother died when he was in preschool. He has vague memories of her, and it’s sad sometimes, but it’s nothing too deep-rooted in his soul. He was young enough when his father remarried that he considers Rebecca just as much of a mother to him as his own would have been. Cooper and his father have their ups and downs, especially recently. And his brothers are just that --- his brothers. Even though they technically have different mothers, they were raised together. Overall, Cooper would have to say the Andersons were much closer when they were all younger.
Personality Information
Positive Traits. Confident, talented, outgoing, honest, charming.
Negative Traits. Condescending, competitive, arrogant, critical, (somewhat) insecure.
Star Sign. Leo.
Likes. His own face, being the center of attention, performing, meeting new people, different accents and languages, Italian food, cars, football, music.
Dislikes. Cats, bad dressers, being talked down to, thunderstorms, bad hair days.
Pet Peeves. People who don’t cover their mouth when they sneeze or cough, and slow walkers.
Most Embarrassing Memory. His short-lived scene phase in his younger years.
Hobbies. Singing, cooking.
Guilty Pleasure. Netflix binges and The Notebook. Can’t resist Ryan Gosling.
Unusual Talents. He can do that thing where he ties a cherry stem with his tongue.
Habits. Tapping his foot or drumming his fingers, either along with a song or to a beat in his head. It’s almost constant when he’s working or daydreaming.
If your character is currently employed:
Occupation. Drama Teacher
Place of Work. Orchard Park High
Character Development
Plans for Development.
I can see Cooper starting to struggle with something like alcohol abuse when the pressure of going back to LA and being famous starts to weigh down on him. He’ll have that “I’m not getting any younger” mentality and while he’ll keep up appearances around everyone else, it will be a personal struggle that maybe his brothers or someone particularly close to him will notice as it actually becomes a problem.
I really want him to find the success he wants, but maybe it won’t be exactly what he’s expecting. He wants to be the greatest and have some amazing groundbreaking role causing him to skyrocket to fame instantaneously, but I think he would be better off with something he can work through and take seriously, and he’ll learn a lot about patience and actual hard work, not just skating by on his looks and charm.
I also want to see him develop better relationships with his brothers, beyond just treating them with ‘tough love’ and always trying to remain big-brotherly. Cooper loves fully and truly, but his own deep-rooted need to be better causes him to show it in strange ways. I want that to be cracked. They gotta be brothers and bros, man.
Other. N/A
Character Biography
DEATH TW
If there’s one thing that Cooper has always been sure about, it’s that he’s destined for greatness. And he has to say it was never particularly difficult. Shakespeare even said that some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. Cooper was lucky enough to have been graced with some combination of all three. He was born into wealth, which automatically allowed for more opportunities later in life (don’t bug him about it — that’s just the way it works, okay?). When his mother died and his father remarried, he ended up with two younger half-brothers who he felt pressured to set an example for.
When it came to achieving greatness, being a prominent family with money to spare meant a lot of things came easy to each of the Andersons, but Cooper still had to work for some of it. He talked a lot as a kid. He couldn’t stand not being the center of attention, whether at school or at home, and he found ways to stand in the spotlight. He got good grades and excelled in his activities throughout childhood and teens, spending too much time working to overshadow his brothers while consistently giving them tough love. He wanted them to reach their highest potential like he planned to reach his. Working his way up in the world meant being the best. It almost always seemed like Cooper was putting on some sort of show. Wherever he went, he brought a winning smile, seemingly never-ending charm, and a whole lot of smooth talk to get him through rough patches. So, in every sense of the word, Cooper Anderson is a born and bred product of greatness.
There have been a few bumps in the road. He went from San Francisco to the heart of LA as soon as he had a chance --- he believes college is a waste of time, after all (his father will disagree, and Cooper knows there’s been a wedge between them since he made the decision to skip it altogether). People told him his entire life that he was made for movies and TV and would be a big star someday, and of course Cooper agreed with them. It seemed like nothing in his life had ever gone wrong; he was generally endearing and attractive and bursting with talent, so this surely wasn’t going to be the first time in his life that he would fail.
And he didn’t, not really — things went well. Cooper got plenty of auditions. The first legitimate role he landed had him as the official face of a credit report site, singing a catchy jingle in commercial after commercial. It was a good gig. They kept bringing him back for updated versions and people started to recognize him everywhere. But he had a moment in his mid twenties where he realized he was going to be known as ‘the credit report guy’ for the rest of his life, and that wasn’t what he wanted. He was supposed to be great, and instead he had people on the streets asking him to sing about checking their credit score online.
This led him to decide to take a break from acting. He needed to allow himself a clean slate. Then he could come back to it and be even bigger and better. He sauntered on over to Florida, following in his little brothers’ footsteps, keeping a cool head and pushing his shoulders back to remind himself that it was only temporary. He was better than this. Eventually, he’d have something to show for it. But he’s still in that small town far from LA and working as a drama teacher. Maybe all those open mic nights he does will pay off soon, but he’s starting to get nervous.
Here’s the thing about Cooper, though: he’ll never let that part of him show. It’s not so much about bottling things up. It’s more of a “fake it till you make it” mentality. He won’t admit it, but his parents’ wealth and renown is a little intimidating to him, just enough for him to not want to be a major disappointment when he swore he’d succeed. And there are his brothers, who he’s tried to stay a step above for their entire lives; of course he’s always known that they’re both destined for greatness in their own way, and Cooper’s pride has him terrified of being “less than.”
So he keeps that smile he’s had from day one and smooth talks his way into opportunities and out of relationships without leaving too much of a mess behind. His legacy as the face of a brand can’t last forever. But in such a small town, it sure feels like it.

a second chance. || self-para
TAGGING: @marleyelodie
LOCATION: Cozy Cover Trailer Park, Lot #24
NOTES: Marley’s getting really good at learning how to quiet her mind, lately.
I see your face in my mind as I drive away...
The lyric floats into Marley’s brain, as they sometimes still do in the stillness and quiet of the evenings when she can no longer hide who she is or what she’s done. Normally, Marley would be reaching for her specially picked-out Micron ink pen, scrambling to locate her watercolor-printed journal, and putting words to paper before it disappears from her stream of conscious.
Marley, this time, does no such thing.
She simply opens up her newly minted cell phone with the changed number, no social media apps, only eBooks and a finance manager. She’s so in the hole that it doesn’t matter, but Marley is convinced that she’ll be able to build her stash back up again. If anything, she can rely on selling the things she knits on Etsy, but does that involve putting her name out there? Does that involve making people aware of who she is? After checking that her credit card payment went through (she’s got to eat, which is an improvement from a former Marley) Marley shoves the device into her pocket and thinks no more of communicating with the outside world for a while.
After finishing her grocery shopping, this trailer is starting to look less like a dump and more like a home, thanks to a few personal accents that Marley managed to salvage from her time in California. The windowsill, as tiny as it is, now houses a whole grove of tiny succulents that frame one lone orchid. It was a splurge, something she didn’t need to buy, but Marley saw its simplicity and the way that its purple petals caught the light, and well, she couldn’t leave it behind.
Marley quickly turns from her laptop to open up her brand-new email account and sees that her work schedule, thankfully, has been sent to her. She’s set to open, which is a good thing. Greet the new day, then come home and relax. Maybe explore the town. Maybe get to know someone. Maybe...
The more Marley thinks about it, though, the easier it seems to simply come back to her trailer, read, and knit. She’s picked a nice view of the river, which could be worse. All of this could be so much worse. It’s easy to start over, and it feels like the breath of fresh air that she hasn’t known she’s needed over the past few years. Here, nobody knows who she is or what she’s done, although a simple search of her name will reveal all.
She has to reach out to Haven, at least.
That thought spikes terror in her chest, because what could she possibly say to her sister who lives only a few doors down? How on earth could she make this seem like it was casual, happenstance? That she hadn’t moved back home because she couldn’t face Millie or her grandmother, and history is repeating itself because she can’t face her sister.
The only thing, lately, that can keep Marley’s thoughts from going somewhere dangerous is knitting. It’s a hobby that’s kept her sane, but she hasn’t had much time to do it lately. The yarn is expensive, but she has a bit of a stash left packed away in one of the boxes. Marley spends the better part of an hour looking through the last of her memorabilia before she locates the few skeins and hanks that she never bothered to use. She pulls a long, silver set of needles from the box and sits in the comfy armchair she bought off of Craigslist and begins to cast on.
Slip knot, yarn over. Her mind starts to settle. One, two, three, four, five, six stitches. She’s going to make a hat, even though Florida barely gets below 70 degrees in the winter and truly, she won’t need one. Marley knits her way through the whole first row before she starts to count. For a while, she revels in the silence.
‘Cause none of us thought it was gonna end this way...
Another lyric floats into her brain, and before Marley can even blink, she pushes it out of her brain, leaving it to hover above her like a cloud of all of the anger, pain, and things she didn’t say. She lets those thoughts float above her and shuts her eyes before she begins to start counting stitches again-- knit one, purl two-- until her mind is clear and her eyes are dry. She plugs in her headphones and puts on the only safe kind of music anymore-- classical. As Ravel and Debussy plane their way into her consciousness, Marley continues to count her stitches and breathe, ignoring the storm brewing above her.
She supposes she forgot about the laws of gravity.
What goes up, must come down.

W.A.Y.S (PT. 1) → SELF-PARA
LOCATION → Angel Diner. TIME FRAME → Thursday, January 17th, 2019; 3:00 PM. DESCRIPTION → Joey meets up with her father for the first time ever. WARNINGS → None.
Two hours, thirty-one minutes, twenty-seven seconds and counting.
That was how long Joey sat on her bed rethinking this meet up. She didn’t know why she even agreed to meet up with the man who didn’t give one fuck about her. The man that neglected her. The man that left her mother hanging. The man that chose himself over family. Her father.
She was all dressed and ready to go, she just couldn’t get her feet to move. Joey never got nervous. Ever. But this was kind of a big day so she figured that was why she had all of the butterflies floating around in her stomach. She knew to not have any expectations. Actually, that was a lie. She had one expectation. She expected that her father would be be this horrible drunk bastard that didn’t care about her. And that wasn’t even an expectation. It was a pure fact.
Joey fingered through her curly hair as she thought more about meeting her father. She looked at herself in a nearby mirror and sighed. Her green eyes were full of sadness. Joey fixed her hair a little bit more before putting it down. She didn’t know why she wanted to make a good first impression. He sure as hell didn’t care. After mentally smacking herself for acting so anxious, she stood up, prepared to meet Elijah Puckerman.”I can do this. I can do this.” Joey tried amping herself up as she walked out of her trailer and to her car. “Joey Sivan Puckerman has never been afraid of anything so why start now?” Her self-motivation caused a few stares but she had bigger fish to fry. “Take a picture, bitch.” Joey rolled her eyes at her neighbors and slid into her car. It was time.
They were supposed to meet at 2:30 PM but Joey was a little distracted. But so what if she was late? She didn’t owe him anything.
She arrived at the Angel Diner and took some deep breaths. What was she even doing? Was this going to be a mistake? Should she call her mom?
Her mom.
Joey decided to not inform her mother about today. She hated lying to her but it was for the best. A lot of emotions would be brought up and she wasn’t ready for a sob fest. Turning her car off, Joey prepared for what was going to happen. She felt like everything was moving in slow motion as she got out of the car and headed to the diner. Once she entered the restaurant, she instantly spotted him. It was so obvious that he was her father. There were many similarities. Joey held back the tears fighting to come out and walked to the booth. Elijah stood up when she arrived. You could cut the tension with a knife. Or two.
“Joelle, I can’t bel...” He leaned in for a hug and she leaned back. They were nowhere near that close.
With furrowed brows, Joey glared at him. He didn’t even get her name right. “Okay, first of all, it’s Joey. No one on Earth calls me Joelle. You’d know that if you didn’t abandon me.” She rolled her eyes and slid into the booth, waiting for him to do the same. At first, she couldn’t bring herself to look at him. Not without crying at least. Her face fell into her hands as they sat in silence for what seemed like forever. She jumped when she felt him squeeze her forearm reassuringly. So many thoughts flew through her head. Why didn’t he stick around? Why did he wait until she was twenty-seven to finally meet her? Why?
“Your mom does that. Or she did that. I don’t know if she does it anymore.” Joey’s head snapped up at the mention of her mother. She raised an eyebrow, obviously confused to what he was talking about. He sensed her confusion and went on to explain. “Putting her head in her hands when she was upset, snapping at me. You look just like her you know. I almost thought you were her when you were walkin’ in. Those big green eyes are definitely hers, too.”
Elijah tried to make conversation but Joey just couldn’t believe that she was meeting her father for the first time. This sounded like a movie or something. He spoke about her mother, Joy, mostly. How they were so similar and a spitting image of each other. That made her smile though. Her mother had the perfect name. Joy was definitely something Joey felt when thinking about her favorite person.
It was about thirty minutes in before Joey decided to cut in. It felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest at any moment. “You don’t get to do that. Speak about my mother like you know her or somethin’, ‘cause you don’t. You don’t know me either but I guess that’s what happens when you fuck over your family. You don’t get to ask why aren’t you smiling. You don’t get to do this...” Tears streamed down her face as she spoke. Joey had no idea what she was saying. She was in such a vulnerable state and it honestly made her uncomfortable.
