Vasily once again made sure that the bashlyk tightly covers their face and nodded at them asking is they are cold. [Y/N] moved a bit, assessing their situation. They could barely bend their limbs, but the layers sure kept them warm. The sporadic gusts of snowy winds could not break through the fabrics. 

Although there were two spots still stung by the cold. With great difficulty they pointed at their cheeks or rather the narrow lines between their eyes and the edge of the scarf. Thier skin was already reddened from the frost. 

Vasily’s brows knitted as he reached to pull the scarf slightly higher but it didn’t really work. His gloved fingertips brushed against the irritated skin before grasping their cheeks and pulling closer. His cracked lips pressed two quick kisses under their eyes. 

[Y/N] was already even redder as he pulled again, but the gleam in their eyes suggested they are not mad.  

Instead, they pulled their scarf down and pointed at their lips.

Just Vasily and [Y/N] acting like eldery marriage despite not being together. ~400 words Enjoy!

A muffled humph left Vasily’s chest as he grasped her cheeks and pulled her close enough for his eyes to froze her soul. She held onto his wrist as she stood on the tip-toes. Her pupils shook as she looked at him. The man was bigger, stronger and way more deadly than her. And she had the rare ability to strain even the sniper’s patience. 

She huffed as she tried to push him away but to vain. She shouldn’t have helped him. She should have left him to die the night she found him. Or at least forbit him from coming back. He was like a stray that got feed once. He was a foreigner. A stranger. Outsider. There was no place for him there. He was only confusing and hard to understand.  

But as his grasp lightened and a quiet sigh left his scarred mouth, she couldn’t step away. She shallowed heavily as he looked at her a bit gentler. As if he came to terms with the reality. Vasily bend down to rest his forehead against her. His words were obscure. Deformed by his scars. But she probably wouldn’t understand even if his speech was crystal clear. 

He was doing it again. He was tossing between leaving and pulling her closer. Between stranger and lover.  

“I don’t understand!” she snarled as he finally snatched from his hold. She took a step back and pretended to be overly focused on the herd nearby. She refused to look at him but at the same time didn’t leave her spot. She was no better than him. Unable to push him away more than an arm length. 

Vasily answered, his words foreign to her. But he didn’t seem any more enthusiastic than her. He pinched the bridge of his nose before taking a deep breath. He snatched his rifle from the grass it was dropped to and tossed it over his shoulder. He walked towards the village but stopped as the woman didn’t seem to follow. He outstretched his hands towards her.  

[Y/N] tossed him a gruffy glare and met one matching her own. The blue eyes dared her. The choice was hers. She reluctantly took his hand.

Despite everything his hold on her was firm as they walked together.  

Despite everything it seemed as if they were stuck with each other for the time being.
