Carta informe mayo-junio de 2019. Mis queridos familia, hermanos en la fe y amigos: Recibo a diario mensajes como el de la foto, pero éste en particular me dejó pensando y reflexionando sobre lo que dice. Y es que en esos días que estuve de regreso a Haití estaba orando por dirección del Señor para lo nuevo que El me tiene. Dios me pidió que regresara a Haití, y yo obedecí. Pero como me pasa con frecuencia en este caminar, El no me da el “mapa” completo… Así que comencé a orar a mi regreso, buscar un lugar neutral y céntrico donde establecer el Centro de Capacitación para Pastores y Líderes, y continuar la Evangelización en especial con los niños, esa era la inquietud en mi corazón cada vez que oraba. En Ansapit existen muchas iglesias, todas independientes, pero ninguna tiene programas dominicales para la Evangelización con niños, con temas que vayan de acuerdo a sus respectivas edades. Y me encontré con este local.  No era la primera vez que lo veía. Me informaron que estaba desocupado y que es propiedad de la familia de uno de nuestros voluntarios. Así que buscamos los papeles de la propiedad y nos pusimos al día para que todo esté en orden legalmente y alquilarlo. El local se encuentra actualmente como el cactus de la foto… si lo miras la primera vez, no es atractivo, pero tiene un potencial tremendo, por lo menos así lo veo yo. Necesita mucho trabajo para repararlo, y en ello estamos. Sobre todo el techo no está en las mejores condiciones. Estamos esperando las opiniones de los expertos para que nos digan cómo le vamos a hacer. Mientras eso ocurre… “el gusano” (como dice la reflexión de la foto) se ha ido convirtiendo en “mariposa” y no hemos podido dejar pasar por alto todos los niños de la comunidad que están “revoloteando” como las mariposas cada vez que llegamos al local, hambrientos de tener algo nuevo y diferente en su barrio. Así comenzó la Escuela Bíblica Dominical para niños en la Comunidad Refige.  Hemos tenido un promedio de 52 a 60 niños durante estos domingos del mes de junio. Con ellos - con los niños - todo es más fácil, agradable y menos complicado. Son agradecidos con lo que les compartas, ya sean las clases dominicales, compartir las meriendas, o jugar al fútbol. Están sedientos de amor, de diversión y de aprender algo nuevo.    Agradecida del Señor por sus “sorpresas”… Dios ha sido bueno todo el tiempo. Estoy agradecida de Sus cuidados, Su provisión, y sobre todo, de cómo Él va añadiendo aquellos que habrán de ser añadidos al Reino de los Cielos. Por la manera que El nos re-conecta en esa gran red que tiene, como lo fue tener la grata visita del Pastor Jorge Cotto y el Equipo de Misiones de su Iglesia CCC de Miami, Florida (nos visitó el 6 de junio). Luego de hacer Misiones en el pueblo de Oviedo en la Iglesia de mi hermana y pastora, Dra. Leslie, tomaron de su tiempo para “pasarla conmigo”. Un gesto de amor de una Iglesia y sus pastores que amo mucho y que siempre han formado parte de nuestra misión en Haití. Así como la visita de mi amiga y hermana, Pastora Rina García de la Iglesia Alianza Cristiana y Misionera de Santurce, PR, con un tiempo excelente de refrigerio y de compartir juntas; un cuidado pastoral que necesitaba y Dios no se hizo esperar para sorprenderme. Sobre todo, agradecida por la provisión que Él hace de traer obreros nacionales para ir discipulando y entrenando para la tarea. Esto, mi hermano y hermana, es lo más gratificante de todo el trabajo en el campo. Anhelamos que esto que llevamos a cabo tenga continuidad. Al Señor toda la gloria porque suya es la obra. Nosotros solo somos instrumentos en Sus manos. El pone el querer como el hacer en nuestras vidas. Gracias a todos los que han confiado en nuestro Ministerio Haití Feliz y continúan orando y apoyando con sus ofrendas y donativos a la obra en Ansapit, Haití. Así que cuando veas un cactus, recuerda que nuestro trabajo sí florece…  Aquí les incluyo algunos motivos de oración para este tiempo de junio a octubre: - Oremos por la situación política actual de Haití. La situación en la capital de Puerto Príncipe está cada vez peor y peligrosa. Ore para que Dios ponga de Su paz en esta nación y puedan volver sus rostros al cielo para buscar el oportuno socorro para esta situación que parece no tener una pronta solución. - Ore por seguridad para nuestras vidas, en cada entrada y salida. En la frontera donde trabajo, al sur-este de la Isla, no hemos tenido contratiempos, es una frontera bastante amigable y tranquila. Ore por los oficiales y militares que trabajan en esta frontera. - Verano en Misión Haití Feliz. Durante el mes de julio-agosto tendremos la visita de los hermanos de la ICDC de Sierra Linda (PR) para ayudarnos durante el Campamento de Verano (EBV) y discipulado con los pastores y líderes. Ore para que todo lo que los hermanos traen como enseñanza bíblica quede grabado en sus corazones y esa semilla siga creciendo. Ore para que todo el equipo llegue con bien y sin contratiempos, que Dios haga la provisión económica para este viaje. - Clínicas de Salud. A finales de agosto viene el equipo de médicos cristianos de MHF con la ayuda de algunos voluntarios de Pedernales, RD. Ha sido nuestro propósito tener clínicas de salud ambulatorias todos los años, y hasta el momento lo hemos logrado gracias a voluntarios de diferentes iglesias en y fuera de Puerto Rico que nos han visitado. - Discipulado en octubre. Continuamos con los planes de desarrollo del Centro de Capacitación para Pastores y Líderes de Ansapit. Una visión que Dios puso en mi corazón desde el principio de mi llegada a esta esquina del mundo. Nuestro hermano Iván de MHF será el recurso para ese tiempo con un material que se está traduciendo al creol. Ore para que Iván pueda tener todos los recursos que necesita para este viaje, y que Dios ponga el anhelo y deseos de todos los pastores haitianos invitados a este evento de Discipulado en octubre. Que sea un tiempo de refrigerio espiritual para ellos y que haya unidad entre los pastores y líderes de diferentes iglesias haitianas. - Necesitamos obreros-voluntarios, a corto y largo plazo. Oremos por más obreros para la mies. La necesidad es mucha en esta nueva comunidad que estamos Evangelizando. Hay trabajo para con las mujeres, jóvenes, niños y ancianos. Necesitamos manos que nos puedan ayudar y sostener. - Ore por nuestros voluntarios nacionales Papo, Nina, y el hermanito de Papo. Que el Señor los guarde en todo momento, que su ánimo no decaiga, y Dios supla a sus necesidades físicas y espirituales. - Oremos por más material en creol para niños. Estamos agradecidos de que formes parte de los planes de Dios para está comunidad en Haití. Una familia, una comunidad a la vez… es nuestro lema. Album reviews: JLS ‘2.0’, Khalid ‘Scenic Drive’, Arca ‘Kick ii/iii/iiii/iiiii’

It is easy to forget how successful JLS were in their first few years. After finishing second on The X Factor in 2008, they nabbed five No 1s and two Brits and had a mantelpiece laden with Mobos. They broke up in 2013 but reunited for a tour last year that was, obviously, postponed – but presumably sold well enough for BMG to sign them and commit to a new album, JLS 2.0.

In many ways it is a good time to be paying homage to the late-90s, early-millennium pop sound: tinny processed drums, orchestra hits and easy harmonies are hitting that nostalgia sweet spot for some and are old enough now to be cool again for others. While some artists are riffing off it (Rina Sawayama, Charli XCX), JLS are very much emulating it.
