this is why i made and posted this scenepack a few weeks back, lol

i wanted to get this done before 2023 ends bc i felt weird having only edited one other vid this entire year, and it had been about a whole year before that since i’d edited. work and everything going on in the world (for the past several years, tbh) has made me feel like a useless piece of shit, but i wanted to at least make something so ppl know i’m still alive

funnily, the hardest part was remembering how to edit stuff like this when i’ve mostly been absorbing utena amvs; i keep thinking i should edit with some music that resonates deeply with characterization or the narrative’s themes, but that just ain’t happening with ps5 spidey, lol. my scenepack was only seven and a half minutes, and that’s including extra footage focusing on miles

i ended up looking through my files to figure out what to edit with, and i apparently saved this song years ago to use for an mcu edit. i have very mixed feelings abt mcu mysterio (i’ll admit to being a bit of a hater, lol), so i’m glad to use it for a mysterio i genuinely just uncomplicatedly like. whatever else there is to say abt this game, i love what they did w beck 🔮 (gordon ramsay voice) finally, some good fucking food

Welcome to Corroded Coffin Fest!

This is a fanworks challenge/event that is all about Corroded Coffin. It will take place from July 1st thru July 31st.

Thanks so much for showing interest in this event during this post! If you have friends that you think would like to participate, please considering reblogging this announcement!

Since there are so many events going on (and we love to see it!) we've decided to set a word count range for this event, so the love can be spread around to more events.

GUIDELINES:

Ideas for works include: fic, art, gifsets, fanvids, moodboards, edits, playlists, or anything else you can think of to celebrate Corroded Coffin!

For fics, there is a word count minimum/maximum of between 300-1000 words per drabble. We'll use wordcounter.net to check the word counts before reblogging, so make sure you stick to that range!

Do one prompt, do them all. Hell, do them all twice! It's totally up to you. You can pick and choose what you're interested in. And we're not going to police how you interpret the prompt. Just use them as a jumping off point to be inspired by the boys of Corroded Coffin, and then share that inspiration with us! (Not everything has to be band related, we encourage you to explore other parts of their lives, too!)

Submissions can absolutely be connected to other prompts from the event, or even past works, but should still be able to stand alone each day.

Every morning a new prompt card will go up, reminding everyone of what that day's prompt will be.

I love this ask because i love making playlists for basically everything.

Syaosaku - this one is easier because the animes gave us the soundtrack for their relationship. For ccs, it's either catch you catch me or ki ni naru aitsu (have i ever said that i live for ccs soundtrack?) and for trc it's you are my love or loop. If you want me to give songs that arent from the animes, maybe it's you by jolina magdangal and hunting high and low by a-ha always make me think about them. <3

Touyuki - there's fanvids with brazilian songs on my favorite tiktok account with "eu amo você" and "você" by tim maia and "talking to the moon" by bruno mars and "fly me to the moon" by frank Sinatra are a must.

Douwata - reason by fonogenico, which is actually from the anime, "evidências" by chitãozinho e xororó. denial is their thing lmao. also "umbrella" by rihanna and wherever you will go by the calling describes perfectly doumeki's feelings when the one he loves is sleeping away from his fingers and he wants to do anything to protect him.

Rec: This is a Hexer video and the song is in Polish but don’t let that stop you from watching! This vid is a short, quiet look at Geralt’s life on the Path as the season is changing. The scenery from the show is beautiful and the singing is wonderful.

The clip choices of Geralt in the woods is very complimentary with the soft lute instrumentation and Jaskier's voice. The vid really shows us how lonely it is being a witcher on the Path and the autumn vibes are so gentle, full of melancholy and yearning for warmer days. I also found it visually interesting how the vidder added a stonework frame around the video and showed some really cool Witcher art as the vid progressed. This vid is lovely glimpse of Geralt's life in Hexer and Jaskier's music is so great.

🤔 When I watch a fanvid like this and I'm not familiar with the song because it's in a language I don't speak, or I'm not very familiar with the TV show or film they're using, I ask myself the following questions:

What vibes am I getting from the tone and tempo of the music and how might it it relate to the visuals?

What kind of story can I take away from this even if I don't know the exact words or meaning behind the song? I may or may not look up the translation for curiosity's sake or to help bolster my understanding of what the vidder was trying to do. Or I might not look it up and just make my own story and interpretation.

What assumptions can I make about Hexer!Geralt based on what I know about Geralt from other canons and how do I apply it to the vid?
