Open up....
The CBSE 12th results 2023 have seen an impressive number of students scoring above 90%, with 1,12,838 students receiving above-90% marks and 22,622 students receiving above-95% marks. Similarly, in Class 10, almost 2 lakh students scored above 90%, while over 44,000 students scored above 95%.
What is your opinion about this performance?
Please share your opinions...

1. Opened up
Azeez
Critics may argue that the focus on high marks and percentage scores is leading to unhealthy competition and stress among students.
They may also raise concerns about the impact of such competition on mental health and well-being, and argue that the CBSE should take measures to promote a more holistic and less competitive learning environment.
Some may also criticize the lack of transparency in the CBSE's decision not to release a merit list.
Critics may argue that this decision denies students and parents the opportunity to evaluate their performance relative to their peers and may also create doubts about the fairness of the evaluation process.
Finally, critics may argue that the CBSE's emphasis on exam results ignores other important factors that contribute to a student's overall growth and development, such as extracurricular activities, community service, and life skills.
They may suggest that the CBSE should broaden its approach to evaluation and promote a more balanced and inclusive education system.
▪️Vijayalakshmi Menon: I firmly believe that children are awarded such high percentage aren't we stealing their scope for improvement. Recently Tamilnadu 12th board exam a child has scored 600/600, how is it possible to score 100% in Languages. Evaluation should leave scope for improvement. When you are 100%or 96% etc. Where can one improve. As the head of an institution I personally have seen some of my students getting more than what they actually are capable of. As teachers all of us can understand our students and we know their capabilities, we work hard to ensure their success but honestly speaking we don't expect them to be assessed wrongly
▪️Dr. BALA SUBRAMANIAN: As per the scoring or corrections currently underway in the education system, there is also a need to address potential disparities in language proficiency. Unfortunately, when students transition to the next level of education, any decline in their academic percentages, whether intentional or unintentional, can lead to feelings of depression and disappointment.
The content and difficulty level of subjects vary, and it is crucial to develop students' abilities accordingly. Both students and parents should be vigilant and mindful of this fact in the future.
In the past, there have been instances where a student achieved the top rank in their district, excelling in mathematics with a perfect score of 100%. However, upon entering a prestigious engineering institution, they struggled in mathematics and tragically took their own life. This incident underscores the importance of carefully teaching, monitoring, and guiding students to bridge any gaps or differences in their academic journey.
It is essential for the education system to not only focus on pass percentages but also consider the emotional well-being of students and their preparation for future employment, taking into account their individual strengths and weaknesses. Government policies and educational institutions should address these concerns to provide holistic support to students.
▪️Vijayalakshmi Menon: Exactly this is what happens. We are not allowing children to understand what they are capable of, instead making them tools for scoring due to many factors, parental pressure, school's prestige etc.
Many of the children who scores above 90 % in language are not able to write an application for a job
▪️Azeez: Education and application of education, both are different.
It is possible for a student to score high marks in a language subject and still struggle with writing an application for a job.
This is because scoring high marks in a language subject involves a mastery of the language's grammar, vocabulary, and syntax, whereas writing an application for a job requires a different set of skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, organize one's thoughts, and tailor the language to the needs and expectations of the reader.
▪️Dr. BALA SUBRAMANIAN: CBSE has recently introduced subjects like drawing, painting, agriculture, and fashion designing as optional sixth subjects, and it seems that many students are excelling in these subjects, sometimes achieving very high scores such as 98% or even 100%. On the other hand, subjects like math, economics, and history may have lower average scores.
There could be several factors contributing to this discrepancy. It is possible that these newly introduced subjects are perceived as easier by students. Additionally, the teachers may be skilled and proficient in teaching these subjects, resulting in better performance from students. However, it is important to note that these subjects may not have well-established syllabi and content compared to subjects like English, math, physics, economics, history, and nursing, which have organized textbooks.
There may also be differences in the paper correction process, where leniency or flexibility in scoring could be a factor. Conducting research at the school or district level to understand the variations in scoring would be beneficial in identifying the underlying reasons for the scoring differences.
For instance, consider the hypothetical example of School A:
English: 80%
Math: 75%
Physics:
Theory: 65%
Practicals: 99%
Chemistry:
Theory: 83%
Practicals: 100%
Biology:
Theory: 73%
Practicals: 100%
Computer Science:
Theory: 91%
Practicals: 100%
It is important to recognize that these scores alone may not accurately reflect a student's potential or aptitude. Scoring numbers should not be the sole basis for evaluating a student's capabilities. Continuous improvement, consistency, and individual growth are crucial factors to consider.
Students, parents, and teachers should adopt a mindset that scores are temporary and not the sole measure of success. It is essential to focus on holistic development and encourage students to pursue their interests and talents, irrespective of scoring patterns.
In the future, CBSE might introduce new ideas for Class 10 assessments, such as the concept of best four subjects or allowing students to fail in one subject. It is essential to create systems that consider the diverse capabilities and strengths of students.
Let us remember that comparing oneself to others or relying solely on scores can be detrimental. Each individual has unique talents and potential, and it is important to nurture those strengths and encourage a growth mindset.
▪️Azeez: We can't estimate children from their scores. A child who scored 100 out of 100 in maths does not mean that the child knows 100 % of the subject. No.
Rather 100% of known questions appear in the exam.
▪️Dr. Balasubramanian: Certainly sir , marks are just one parameter and not end parameter, need a clear wisdom of education, literacy, test, examination, communication skills so on

What is IB equivalent in India
What is IB?
International Baccalaureate courses were introduced by a non-profit organization in 1968. It has several programs for which it accepts students aged 3-19. However, the age eligibility for admission varies from one program to another. Primary years program, middle years program, diploma program, and career-related program are its programs. The organization’s first program, the diploma program, started in the late 1960s. Later in the 1990s, it introduced other two programs, followed by a career-related program in recent years.
Currently, more than 5,000 schools in the world offer IB courses. IB World Schools are the schools that deliver IB programs. Students of the program are known as IB Candidates. The course enhances the skills and personality traits of its students to achieve success in terms of academics, career, and self-development. Moreover, it is helpful for students in terms of entering high-ranked universities because the course is given a priority, and students of the course are known to perform better. There are more than 60 IB Board Schools in India.
What is India’s school curriculum?
Like its neighboring countries, India has a 10+2 educational system in school. Schooling is mainly categorized into four levels: lower primary, upper primary, secondary, and higher secondary school. Lower primary education consists of five grades and upper primary education consists of two grades. Similarly, the secondary school comprises 8th, 9th, and 10th grade. The higher secondary school involves the final two years of school. 11th and 12th grade are studied before college, so it is also known as a junior college. Some people often call it “plus two.” Most of the time, the Indian curriculum is heavily focused on academics. They are rarely ever committed to the development of a student’s skills and abilities. Marks are given priority. In Indian schools, a student’s grades determine how smart and talented he/she is.
India’s School Curriculum and IB (International Baccalaureate) Curriculum
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) are three boards of the Indian curriculum. Every state works with the federal government to decide the board of curriculum. These boards do not include an international curriculum. IB is a part of the international curriculum. In India, it is popular among private schools attended by high-class and wealthy people.
The IB board has age limits. But the Indian boards do not have them. There is no course time specified for the primary years program (PYP), but it accepts students of the age range 3-12. IB’s middle years' program (MYP) consists of five years of education. Similarly, the diploma program (DP) is offered for two years. IB's career-related program (CP) does not have a specific time. However, students must take two DP programs. It is assessed through an exam rather than the number of years. Students accepted into diploma and career-related programs should not be more than 19 years of age.
Despite the differences, IB (International Baccalaureate) courses have been recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) since the 1980s. The diploma course is considered to be the equivalent of 11th and 12th grade. IB candidates with diploma programs are eligible for undergraduate admissions in Indian universities. Written statements are printed out by universities in support of IB diploma programs. However, universities have their recognition policies for IB courses. From 2016 to 2020, the transcript requests to universities from Indian IB Board Schools increased by 48%. In 2020, over 4,500 transcript requests were sent to Indian colleges in May alone. Like for all other students, IB candidates are required to take entrance tests – especially for courses like Engineering and Medicine. However, the equivalency of IB in India remains the same. It is kept at the same level as higher secondary education.
At the end of the day your skills, goals, careers, and future of work matters. So to learn all of these at one place without compromising your comfort and finances enroll yourself into the Junior mba programme by Clever Harvey.

Difference between Primary and Secondary Schools
The latest Indian Education system is categorized into four — foundation stage, preparatory stage, middle stage, and secondary stage. All the stages are a must in students’ life to taste success in any form like in career, skill development, social, etc. Any student enrolled in school always must pass middle and secondary school to be eligible for higher studies. Middle school helps the student to decide stream in secondary school whereas secondary school marks help in higher studies. Although Middle Schools and Secondary Schools are not different, rather education is classified in Middle (further classified as primary & middle school) and Secondary Education. Few schools are also there which provide education up to Middle school only. Students must switch schools to Secondary level in such cases. Students must understand the difference Between Primary and Secondary Schools. I let you know the people who are not updated with the latest education system. The government has divided 10+2 to 10+5. Where the education starts from preschool instead of 1st standard.
Primary Education (Middle Stage):
Primary Education is a basic need for any child who puts his first step towards education entering as a student in his life. Primary schools provide education up to class 8th Government schools provide free education for children aged 6 to 14 or up to class 8 under the Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009. In recent decades primary school enrolment has been a success story, largely due to various programs and drives to increase enrolment even in remote areas.
Although a lot is to be done and various challenges yet to be overcome to gain 100 percent primary education all over India. Also improving the quality of education in schools is the next challenge for both state and central governments.
The government has also launched various schemes for primary schools like mid-day meals, free uniforms, books, copies, and other facilities like medicines, etc. to ensure no kid remains without primary education in his or her childhood. Also, the government keeps surveys on yearly basis, how many kids are still unable to get primary education and provide them with better primary education by implementing new policies from time to time. The other reason for the government to run such programs is to attract children to join the school as most of the poor kids who cannot afford school fees do not join the schools. Also, poor kids are forced to go to work at a tender age due to poverty. The governments’ mid-day meal program is a big success as it gives students one-time meals which drive more students to school.
On the other hand, private schools focus on quality education rather than free means to attract students.
Secondary Education:
Secondary Education refers to high schools and senior secondary schools. These schools specifically prepare for studying at the higher levels. Various counseling programs are held at these levels to make students aware of the courses and colleges according to the latest trends in the market. The basic difference between Primary and Secondary is Middle School which prepares students for High School and Secondary schools prepare for college and other higher education.
Secondary schools also lead the students to take part in various activities like NCC and sports programs like zonal etc. So that students feel motivated, and their skills can be further nourished and can also allow students to choose their career in their interested fields.
Secondary Education deals with deciding streams like Science, Arts & Commerce which enables them to decide their worth for higher education like the doctor, engineer, lawyer, etc. The government also provides various scholarship programs for poor students, so that they can avail themselves of the opportunity to complete their education till 12th and in higher education.
Primary Schools
Secondary Schools
Students are motivated for speaking and writing skills
Students are focused on English as a medium for interaction at higher levels
Students are introduced to basic subjects at lower levels like science, math, and drawing, etc.
Students are prepared for streams like Science, Arts & Commerce deciding their future higher studies
Age group usually starts from 5 for the primary education
The age group usually starts from age 12 for secondary education.
Less syllabus accompanied by easy learning along with the playful environment of classes
The syllabus is wide and conceptual along with its importance
Homework is less and much creative like drawing etc.
Homework is related to scope.
Students are introduced to the exam patterns and made habitual for sitting hours in the exam
Students become mature enough about exams and are also introduced to Board patterns
Students are made aware of their minute responsibilities like belongings etc.
Students are trained to handle various tasks at a time
The Primary & Secondary Schools are an integral part of our education system, neither of them can be counted as less important. Schools are also taking an important roleplay in the overall development of students. Parents also need to have a discussion with their kids for all the activities in the school along with the teachers, knowing about the performance of their kids, both in academics as well as curriculum activities.
In a nutshell, we can say that the Primary is the root of education, whereas the Secondary is the developing stage for the students, deciding their future course of action in career-related studies. So, it’s key for every student to have primary as well as secondary education and discuss with parents for overall performance. Students need to have a motivation session in every class from 1st to 12th to boost up them for every academic challenge they face in their life along with coordination of parents and teachers.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Thursday told the Delhi High Court that the evaluation policy for this year's Class 10th board examination has been prepared keeping in mind that no school should be able to do injustice with the students and marks be awarded based on the learning.
The board said responsibility has been given to the ‘result committee' to ensure just, fair and reliable result and a similar policy with extended liberty has been prepared in Class-12th policy which has already been approved by the Supreme Court.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, class 10th exams were cancelled by the board and an evaluation policy was formulated to evaluate students this year.
The CBSE's counsel submitted before a bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh that there was no illegality in taking reference of previous year's result of class 10th of a school in order to maintain standardization in the result.

Beating ICSE Board Exams with Technology
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) being the national board of the country, is one of the most preferred boards of education in India. Through all these years, CBSE has set a good standard of education in India. With its influential educational policies, CBSE has reformed the education system of the country. The CBSE syllabus for class 10 is easier when compared to that of other boards, mainly due to fewer subjects and a more compact structure. Secondary subjects like Environmental Education are not compulsory under the CBSE syllabus. A certificate from the Central Board of Education is recognized throughout the country, in all colleges and academic centers. The syllabus is more application based under CBSE, as the board follows a concentric curriculum.
Board exams act as a stepping stone for our glorious future, they are the true test of merit, and successful accomplishment of the exam takes a student to another level. Moreover, good marks scored in exams act as a basis for a scholarship. Both class 10th and 12th Board exams have great significance in student’s education. The 10th board results act as a deciding factor during the admission process. They also form an important part of the resume and act as an indicator of a student’s academic performance. Many prestigious colleges and universities assign separate points to class 10th marks and heavily rely on them while granting admission to the students.
Moreover, it decides which streams the students can take admission into. Basically speaking, it can be considered as the first step in deciding a career path for the future.
With all the stress laid upon how important scoring well in CBSE 10th class board exams clearly elaborated, it’s clear how much pressure the students bear to study for the exams. However, it's not such an easy task as one requires good study materials with proper explanations, proper practice, and unwavering devotion. CBSE 12th Marking Scheme: क्या है ऑब्जेक्टिव क्राइटीरिया, इसी आधार पर बनेगा सीबीएसई 12वीं का रिजल्ट Divya Sandesh
#Divyasandesh
CBSE 12th Marking Scheme:
