I haven't played a mainline Pokemon game since USUM, but I do play Pokemon Masters EX. And they have recently been introducing SV characters so like

I've only seen Cayena (Rika) in passing before, and I knew nothing about her before she appeared in EX but like...she's so nice? Like...I don't have words but also too many, but she seems very sweet, and got on well with Akane (Whitney) who, while a sweetheart, is also a renowned crybaby and very competitive. She's tactful and competitive but not a sore loser I just?????

And just...ok, look, I'm pretty ace, but

I’m obsessed. But also, I’m still getting used to calling Rika by her English name, Because I’m too used to her Japanese name (Chili) and Spanish name (Cayena - Caye for short, which is cute). Larry is saved only by the fact that his Spanish name is Laureano so I can mcfucking see it used as a nickname and I’m sticking to that.

Anyways these two are a fucking aesthetic, literally the office worker romance story waiting to happen and that’s so fucking funny.

Verse drabble under cut

In the ancient past of Galar, during the time of kings and queens and knights, resided a king and queen bearing a terrible curse. At the kings side was a stalwart knight- A woman of exceptional character and steadfast support in an otherwise chaotic time, who bore The Shield of Promised Victory in his name, an artifact now passed down to her loyal friend and steed, Zamazenta. 

Her name was Riona Cayena, and she loved the king more then anything- Even her country for all its horrible rules and practices. Duty forbade them from being public about their relationship, but that did not stop her from frequenting his bedchambers late at night and joining him in the gardens when the others weren’t looking- Or were kind enough to turn a blind eye and allow them to be happy. For the longest time they were the others source of solace, a beacon of joy in the otherwise boring and dreary existence of the king.

One day, a great betrayal took place, the kings closest advisor stabbed him and his sister in the back, A danger she could not protect them from. No shield in the world is strong enough to protect when the enemy is already inside. She was forced to watch helplessly as the curse ran rampant, causing her beloved king to be shackled and sealed away, despite her protests- Despite everything she did- She failed him when he needed her the most… At least in her eyes.

From then on she went about her life in despair, having lost her purpose ultimately. She only married out of necessity, as he had asked her, bearing a family that continued for generations, and met her end in battle in service to her country. Zamazenta brought her back to the shrine where her beloved king was sealed, where she painted her blood upon the door, and finally breathed her last, entrusting The Shield of Promised Victory to her most loyal friend.

Her family never heard of what truly happened to her, as she vanished from the battlefield with her steed. The military deemed her killed in action and missing, the body never being recovered- Better for them to believe that, she thought, then to bear the truth that she never truly loved her husband.

Her heart had always belonged to Mallacht.

20,000 years worth of generations passed, her family line eventually emigrating to Paldea, where it eventually became the Navarro family, where Riona’s soul was finally reincarnated in a young girl named Paprika- Eventually just Rika- Who ascended to the heights of Elite Pokemon trainer… And soon came face to face with her beloved once again, meeting and falling in love with him for the second time.

(Ese AU que mencionas, en donde Cayena no conocio a Sagita y se volvio completamente salvaje, me entro mucha curiosidad, ¿Qué pasaria si Sagita conociera a Cayena, pero cuando ambas son adultas y por tanto Cayena ya es salvaje?)

// en el lore de este blog, el lugar donde habitan los clodsire y wooper no es facilmente accesible/es una zona muy poco frecuentada. pero de la misma manera que ella pudo descubrir ese lugar, supongo que alguien más eventualmente podría descubrirlo también. las circunstancias no sé cuales podrían ser, pero de alguna manera supongo que llegaría a los oídos de ságita que hay una 'mujer salvaje' por la zona sur, y tendría curiosidad, sólo para descubrir a una mujer que sigue llevando el traje de la academia pero está rasgado y cubierto de barro, camina primordialmente a cuatro patas y de vez en cuando tiene la boca manchada de sangre al alimentarse de los mismos pokemon que su familia adoptiva.

en este UA, cayena se ha rendido en cuanto a la idea de algún día conocer a alguien humano que la trate con respeto y amor, y como resultado, aunque sigue explorando otras zonas del sur de vez en cuando, está incluso más apegada a su familia pokémon, y rechaza la presencia humana. probablemente vería a ságita (y cualquier otra persona) como una presencia hostil, se negaría a cooperar, le gruñiría e incluso amenazaría con morderle, todo mientras su expresión verbal se ha visto afectada al pasarse desde la adolescencia sin más contacto humano. vería a las personas como lo peor del mundo, y no querría ningún trato con ellos. lo que pasaría desde ese momento no sé qué podría ser: o ságita la deja estar y no la saca de su 'habitat' porque ya es difícil hacerle cambiar de idea, o trataría de sacarla de allí para poder reinsertarla.

en caso de lo segundo, cayena opondría mucha resistencia y sería algo arduo y tedioso sacar su caso adelante, por no decir que sea cual sea el resultado, probablemente su vida no sería muy feliz al haberlas pasado putas por culpa de las personas y tendría mucho más apego a su familia clodsire que a nadie más. una persona que se aleja mucho de la caye que debería haber sido, mucho más arisca y antisocial y llena de rencor y miedo a la gente.
